The Cocktail Party vs. The Tea Party graphics
Thanks to Mizz Jodee for these illustrations.
This is the way to get Americans to understand just how much of a problem the Cocktail Party GOP establishment is.
It’s “The Cocktail Party” vs. “The Tea Party” and the stakes are mighty high indeed.
Have you seen the ad with the Ted Strickland supporter pouring hot coffee on someone?
Ted Strickland is actually someone we like very much on a personal level because we saw him a lot during the 2008 campaign as a surrogate for Hillary Clinton. He came to Chicago a lot for her to speak at fundraisers, worked his heart out in Ohio for her, then traveled throughout Pennsylvania and Indiana for the campaign. So, we probably saw him at about 15 events, and got to talk to him for quite a while at a reception at the Drake Hotel here in Chicago (mainly because no one else in the room recognized him and we knew him from our home state).
Our opinion of him fell some in the wake of the Helen Jones-Kelly scandal, when it was revealed that particular Obama operative used State of Ohio computer equipment, taxpayer funded man hours, and other official resources to pry open the personal records of Joe “The Plumber” Wurzelbacher and distribute them to the news media and Obama campaign itself to attack a private citizen for asking Candidate Obama an uncomfortable question about socialism.
Governor Strickland should have fired Jones-Kelly immediately and used the full weight of his office to prosecute her for her crimes. Instead, he hemmed and hawed, consulted with unions and the Obama campaign, and ultimately let Jones-Kelly resign her position. Word is she’s now working as a consultant to the state, when she should be barred from ever having any access at all to sensitive information.
Strickland didn’t want to upset black people, though, by firing her…and he didn’t want to make enemies with the new Obama administration…and that reflects badly on Strickland.
Our friends in Ohio say he’s been a terrible Governor since 2008 and are eager to vote him out of office.
We think the above ad is a powerful one to use against him, because this supporter of his is as reflective upon him as Helen Jones-Kelly and David “Popcorn” Kernell are upon Obama. It’s been our experience that the sort of people who gravitate towards you depend on the sort of person you are to begin with.
Maybe that’s not fair, but there’s just been too much thuggery engaged in by the Democrats in Ohio for them not to pay a major price for this.
When you lie down with dogs, you get fleas.
Strickland’s are coming back to get him now.

UPDATE: Some people are asking what’s going on in this video. Here’s what our understanding is:
* This is a Ted Strickland campaign rally and the Governor is talking on the stage
* The man who throws the coffee is a Strickland supporter — still unidentified
* The man who had the coffee thrown at him is an Iraq War Vet
* We aren’t CERTAIN, but we believe this man was readily identifiable as an Iraq War Vet…and if we had to guess, and it is just a guess, we’d bet he had on either a baseball cap, a jacket, or a tee shirt that ID-ed him as a Vet. We don’t believe he was either active duty US military or wearing a military uniform…but he could have been. We’re basing these guesses on having attended numerous campaign events through the years and what people wear to them…and Vets often come dressed with gear that IDs them and the theaters they served in.
* What we THINK the Strickland supporter was up to was harassing a Vet, just because he is a Vet, and this coffee thrower (who is the spitting image of Sloth from The Goonies, by the way) wanted to take a shot at the war, so he took it out on the Vet…much like how the Left used to be evil to returning Vietnam War vets in the 1970s.
* We’ve also heard that the man who had coffee thrown at him was videotaping the speech, but we don’t understand why someone would be upset with that enough to throw hot coffee because we take pictures everywhere we got and see people cell phone taping everything that moves these days, so we don’t know why this would have been unusual
* The coffee burn victim was there as a “video tracker” for the GOP Governors’ Association but we don’t know how the coffee thrower could have known that, unless maybe instead of wearing the military gear he strangely had on Republican gear, or maybe was wearing an elephant suit. But, why would you go to a Democrat event and make yourself identifiable as a Republican if you were a video tracker trying to catch Strickland saying something damaging? That makes no sense. You would want to be covert. But, maybe the video tracker didn’t know what covert meant and was dressed up as a giant red sporstcar like out of Teen Machine. In which case, someone needs one of those word a day calendars.
There’s a lot we’re following today, so this is our understanding of what’s happening here. If you have a better take on it or if we’re wrong, please tell us.

UPDATE: It looks like they might have figured out who this guy is.
It’s very frustrating because he looks like a non-famous creepy guy we know, and if you, too, knew him we could do a joke here about him…but sadly, you don’t know that person, which makes us a little dejected at the moment, to be honest.
Did you know new Hilary Swank movie "Conviction" was about Martha Coakley in Massachusetts?
We’ve seen commercials for the new Hilary Swank movie “Conviction” and never realized this was about the 1980 Ayer trailer-park murder where Martha Coakley worked hard to put an innocent man behind bars for 18 years. The man’s sister, Betty Anne Waters, put herself through college and law school just so she could personally work to free her brother from prison after Coakley pushed for conviction against him for a crime he didn’t commit.
The movie comes out October 22nd.
Martha Coakley, whom you know from the Massachusetts Senate race that Scott Brown won for “The Kennedy Seat”, is running for re-election as Massachusetts Attorney General. She thought she’d be unopposed, because the Cocktail Party in Massachusetts doesn’t typically even bother to field a candidate in races like this.
But there’s actually a man named Jim McKenna running against her.
And now Coakley is afraid because with the movie opening, so close to the election, people are talking about the bad things Coakley has done in the past, on top of the negative feelings many still have of her from January’s campaign…where one of her aides went so far as to push a reporter to the ground when he tried to ask her a question. The hubris, entitlement, and disregard for Massachusetts voters that Coakley showed was stunning…and went a long way towards defeating her, in a race that ended up being not even close.
We really, really want to see this movie now.
Democrats are trying to "Jack Ryan" Meg Whitman in California today
Sometimes, we truly believe the reason we exist is to point out to conservatives the things that are so obvious to us, but for some reason Republicans never see coming or think much about. Is that our mission in life at this point? Because what the Democrats are doing to Meg Whitman in California today is exactly what Obama did to Republican candidate Jack Ryan in 2004…manufacturing a scandal so that Republicans will abandon a candidate and allow a Democrat to walk away with an election in a cake walk…in election that Democrat would have actually lost.
Gloria Allred is having a press conference today with a Mexican maid who’s claiming she was abused by Meg Whitman. The goal for Democrats here is two-fold:
(1) to alienate Hispanic voters from the Republicans
(2) to portray Whitman as a Leona Helmsley-grade wealthy tyrant that’s unrelatable to voters suffering financial problems
Democrats excel at the politics of personal destruction because this is the only thing they know.
They are losing in California because they have no ideas for bringing economic prosperity to the Golden State. They have no intention of doing anything differently if Barbara Boxer and Jerry Brown win their respective elections. Democrats have engineered a coalition of race-and-identity based voters who take turns playing various and sundry victim cards, forever with their hands out for something, draining the state dry (and not just the coffers, but LITERALLY draining large portions of the state bone-dry by cutting off waters to farms in a bizarre effort to “protect” a near microscopic smelt).
Democrats are trying to take down Whitman because she is a threat to not just Brown, but also to Boxer…since Carly Fiorina benefits from having Whitman on the ballot…since it’s a strange thought to think someone would vote against Brown for Governor but yet vote for Boxer in the Senate race, when Boxer is essentially Brown but with worse clothes and makeup.
Here’s what the Cocktail Party Republicans typically do in these situations: they cut and run, and default to their position of “just siting home on election day and teaching them a lesson!”.
On this site, we have gone on for thousands of words on the insanity of how conservatives behave themselves on election day whenever they fall into the Democrats’ manipulative traps about “sitting it out and teaching lessons” to various people.
The only lesson that is ever taught in this is that conservatives are fools for listening to the media and doing what Democrats want them to do.
We’ll have to wait to this afternoon to see what the Allred presser is all about, but this is a major Hail Mary Play by Democrats because they feel they are in deep trouble in what should be a reliably blue state. Hence, these theatrics. There’s a great chance this will backfire on the Democrats just as almost all of their tricks and schemes have backfired the last two years…but only if conservatives don’t take this bait and instead call Democrats out for playing these sorts of Alinsky games.
Let’s stay posted on this…and watch in particular the conservative response to this stunt.
Have Republicans learned ANYTHING since Obama’s hit job on Jack Ryan?
Newt Gingrich is in Chicago today with secret fundraising meetings for a 2012 campaign
We’ll share the scoop if we get anything interesting, but today New Gingrich is in town, with secret fundraising meetings scheduled with Chicago’s top donors to talk about backing him for a 2012 presidential run. He’s got one or two larger events on the schedule, then a few of those close-door, private fancy club sit-downs with the people who can write the really big checks.
This is a great opportunity to address an enormous mistake the Cocktail Party GOP establishment consistently makes…that seems so obvious to us, but the GOP just keeps repeating.
Whenever Republicans have events, it’s always at the most expensive and exclusive place possible. Not just big events, that always have to be in the most expensive hotel ballroom or the hippest most exclusive restaurant, but even these little meetings, which Republicans setup in members-only locales like The Union League Club, The City Club, The Chicago Club, etc.
When we worked for Hillary Clinton’s campaign, HRC would meet with people wherever was comfortable and convenient for them. That might be the back of the coffee shop in the Marriott on Michigan Avenue. Once, it was a little makeshift breakfast we had with her in a small staff meeting room at Navy Pier. When the Clintons came to town, there were meetings held in people’s rec rooms at their private homes, and bigger events for the campaign were always held at neighborhood bars and restaurants that didn’t have dress codes and were open to all us regular people. The Clintons are immensely wealthy, and the big money people writing the checks for her campaign are certainly used to going to all the big fancy places in Chicago, but the difference between Clinton events and events the Cocktail Party (and Obama campaign) throws was alway so stark: there was never a need to put on airs, and never a deliberate push to forever be “big fancies” as we call the Cocktail Party and all their wood-paneled, scotch-in-hand glory.
We kept telling the McCain campaign and GOP to stop holding all their events at the Union Club or the Cucumber-and-Mayonnaise Society but they never listened. It’s just in the Cocktail Party establishment DNA to perpetuate their own stereotype as fat, out of touch, blue-blazered, country clubbed, elitists.
Democrats have that problem under the current DNC now too. It’s not boilermakers and fries down at Joe’s Tavern on the corner like it always was with the Clintons. No, now it’s arugula and fennel amuse-bouches at Chez Grievance, with organic produce flown in directly from Michelle’s own garden.
Both parties’ establishments lose the bulk of this country when they encapsulate themselves in these entitled bubbles.
We don’t know how many times we have to say this…before someone in conservative circles listens…but here goes New Gingrich today, at the wood-paneled scotch on the rocks members-only clubs of Chicago, trying to get the Cocktail Party to back his run for president.
We admire the man as a writer. We surely recognize his gifts for drawing attention to things he thinks are important. We will never, ever get over what he did to his wife when she was dying of cancer and think that disqualifies him from ever being considered for President or Vice President. But we think Gingrich could very well make an excellent Cabinet member in a Palin presidency because when he’s right he is right. It’s just the rest of the time he has struggles with.

UPDATE: Here’s K.’s take on this over at Conservatives4Palin
This seems to be how this will shake out for his pieces for C4P. They’ll originate here on HillBuzz as something like the above, the way we’ve always written for this site. Then, K. will expand and edit our thoughts into something that’s specific for the C4P audience, who aren’t HillBuzz readers, and haven’t been following us for two years. The ideas will be the same, but the content and tone might be different because K. wants to respect the way C4P conducts itself and the brand it has established. He’ll keep the same fun and liveliness, but C4P is not our site and we’re just honored to be able to speak to Governor Palin’s supporters directly over there, instead of just hoping they happen upon a piece like this here at HB.
So, none of you ever have to fear missing a column…and we hope reading the linked articles at C4P doesn’t get repetitious. We just feel driven to do everything we can, on all available platforms, to get as many people activated and pumped up to defeat the Left as possible.
************************************************
UPDATE: Doing these posts over at C4P is really interesting for us because they don’t troll moderate like we do here…so if you follow that link, people say the nastiest and craziest things in comments sometimes. It’s very weird after having established HB as a troll-free zone. Right now, there’s one troll who is mad because K. did these pieces for C4P but we have original content here too…which is a weird thing to be mad about. Then, there’s someone with Clinton Derangement Syndrome (CDS) who seems to not want K. participating at C4P because he worked for Hillary’s campaign.
That right there is a reason why it took so long for K. to post directly at C4P — he did not want to bring these crazies out of the woodwork and take away from the game at hand, but conservatives, and Palin supporters in particular, need to learn from the mistakes that Hillary’s campaign made.
Right now, we see a lot of these people have the bad attitude of “we hate Hillary, and we don’t care what her failed campaign did, so don’t tell us about it you f****er”.
That is wrong on so many levels.
Conservatives: you are damn fools if you let CDS get in the way of learning everything you can about what the Left did to take down HRC, because they are going to use the same tricks on Governor Palin. What the DNC and Obama people did to HRC the RNC and Cocktail People are already doing to Governor Palin.
It is just stupid to ignore all the lessons and data you have in front of you from 2008 because you hate Hillary Clinton and guys like us who worked for her. As K. said in the first essay he wrote for C4P, his introduction to that audience, ignoring the Clinton primary is like being the football coach of a team that doesn’t pay any attention to all the other games an opponent played. That foolish coach ignores all those tapes and all those playbooks when he could be mining them for valuable information to take down the rival.
No, what happened to Hillary won’t EXACTLY happen to Governor Palin…but the Left is not smart enough to invent an entirely new playbook for 2012. They are going to recycle about 80% of what they’ve been using the last 30 years.
Only fools would ignore that.
But, honestly, if ever we questioned the 100% no-trolls policy we run here, and the permanent banning of trolls that we do every day, it is eye-opening to see what sort of things are vomited out on sites that choose not to follow this practice. Be critical and disagree with us all you want, as you all do here on HB when you don’t have the same opinion as us, but reserve that nastiness and mean-spirit for those on the Left who really revel in it.
Why be like that in a comment, and why be so personal in attacks for no reason?
SPECIAL REQUEST: Joceylyn's dad very sick in Texas and he needs your prayers
Sometimes we feel really guilty asking you to pray for people because we know that not everyone in life has this platform to ask tens of thousands of people coast to coast to send all this energy and love to a particular person and place, so we use it very sparingly, but we really need you to pray for someone important today.
There’s a very awesome dad in Dallas named Buddy who is sick, in the hospital with pneumonia, after dealing with some kind of blood disease and all sort of various problems. The guy is, honest to goodness, one of the best dads we’ve ever known. He’s our good friend Joceylyn’s dad, and he’s the kind of larger-than-life, mustachioed, boots and ten gallon, Texan dad that even people who’ve never properly been introduced just know to call “Sheriff” or “Big Daddy”.
He’s in a bad place, hurting, and Jocelyn’s headed down there today to be with him because they pumped Sheriff full of antibiotics last night, he’s in a lot of pain, and Jocelyn said “for the first time in all my life, on the phone, he didn’t sound like he could rip anyone in half with his bare hands or burst through one of the walls in the hospital because he didn’t want to be there anymore and ain’t nobody who could keep him”.
“Sheriff” loves his daddy’s girl so very much, and we quite frankly don’t want Jocelyn to have to know a world without him. She’s a good friend, and a great person here in Chicago. Her business actually suffered immensely in 2008 because she very visibly worked for the McCain campaign doing everything she could to stop Obama from becoming president, so none of what’s happening would have come to pass. In a town like Chicago, where the Left keeps an enemies’ list and actively works to personally destroy those who stood up to them, Jocelyn has really struggled because she followed her heart and did the right thing — like “Sheriff” taught her. She still needs her dad very, very much and loves him more than we could ever possibly say.
As she heads down to Texas this morning, please send her with the most positive thoughts and prayers you can muster because she and “Sheriff” deserve them.
When our friend Lionel was dying last year, and it was hopeless, we asked you to pray for him and Lionel said he felt it. In fact, he knew what days we talked about him, even though he didn’t have a computer or an iThingamadoo with him and his spouse Todd didn’t follow the site and never told him what we were up to. But, when any of us would visit him, there Lionel would be, smiling bright, so calm and peaceful. ”You asked all those people if they’d pray for me today, didn’t ya?”, he’d say, in just the tone he’d use if we showed up with every bouquet the little flower shop downstairs had. ”You don’t need to do that for me, it’s too much, but I appreciate it very much”. Overwhelmed by all the kindness people he’d never met had sent his way, just KNOWING you had him in your thoughts and hearts without us ever saying boo about it.
Over the last two years, the Left has proved to us time and again that evil truly exists in this world. We were on the fence with the topic of good and evil until then, because after leaving Catholic school, the wider world, especially in liberal arts colleges, insisted this was the stuff of fairytales and that we are all part of one global community with no country and no individuals being better than others, or worse than others, as cases may be. This arbitrary equivalence removes the concept of evil from the world and tried to convince us that God’s not just dead, but was imaginary the whole time.
But, we’re here to tell you the Left is an engine of evil, endeavoring with great might against America, targeting individuals who stand in its way. Rationally and logically, if true evil exists in the world, then so must the opposite, and the quieter, less intrusive, and calming force of good must be real too. We witnessed this good in Lionel, in the leadup to his last days, when not only did he find immense comfort and peace in all the prayers being said for him, but in the kindness he showed to the world regarding his fate. There was no denial and anger and bargaining and Kubler Ross this or that. Just an immense sense of gratitude that he had lived a marvelous life, found a great spouse in Todd, had many adventures with us and all our Team Hillary friends campaigning for Hillary Clinton in ’08 in the most bizarre and farflung places, and that, in his words, “I got to see Sarah Palin hit the scene, and I get to say I heard her speak and know she’ll be a president”. He had a lot of great friends, a family who loved him, and he left the world proud of the fact that he’d done his part to stand up for his country, while putting a few cracks of his own in that glass ceiling towards electing a woman president. First Hillary, then Governor Palin. That was so Lionel…a political guy like us, to the last, who had no bitterness or anger in him at the end, only gratitude for all the opportunities and adventures he’d had.
We firmly believe that peace, calm, and strength was given to him on loan from all of you. It was your prayers that affected him and made him feel snuggled in a warm blanket of love when he might otherwise have felt alone, scared, and angry at the end. We will always be so grateful for the generosity of spirit you showed by taking time out of your day to pray for our friend when he needed you. That is a kindness we work hard every day to repay.
And we ask you to do the same today for Jocelyn…a beautiful young woman who has been such a good friend to us, whenever we needed it. She’s been an advisor, a counselor, and a cheerleader whenever the Left’s struck at us and directed some of its evil our way. Things have gotten pretty dark here from time to time, and you can only understand that fully if you’ve been Alderaan to the Daily Kos’ Death Star aimed directly at you with the full brunt of the Left’s hate sent your way. Jocelyn was always there for us when the Left got really fired up and the Susan Traversys of the world did their worst, and we hope that today, when she’s in tears, traveling so far to be home with her dad, she’s got reinforcements coming her way on angels’ wings to comfort, guide, and strengthen her when she’s needed to take care of the “Sheriff” who, for the last 35 years, has so well-taken-care-of her.
Please pray for Jocelyn’s dad, and for Jocelyn. Pray for president Carter’s health again today too, while you are in a charitable mood, because we want no one to suffer with bad health and pain. Not on our watch. And pray for America herself as well, because these days she most certainly needs it.
Thank you for your love and kindness.
New Sean Duffy lumberjack ad could only be more awesome if it co-starred dreamboat Adam Kinzinger
Seriously, if Sean Duffy and Adam Kinzinger don’t become friends as incoming freshman, and tag-team legislation in the House together and generally co-sponsor awesome left and right and nine times on Sunday, well, we’re just going to have to let our imaginations run wild on these two again.
You’ve seen Kinzinger, right?
These “trading cards” that www.organize4palin.com is making are just perfect.
The branding of “Grizzlies” for guys and “Momma Grizzlies” for, well, Momma Grizzlies is fantastic.
Despite every effort by the Cocktail Party to be terrible and lose elections to the Left, we’ve got super-attractive, smart, nice guys like Kinzinger and Duffy running for office in 2010.
And with Governor Palin taking the leadership reins of the GOP, with the Tea Party behind her, in 2012 we’re going to have A FLOOD of Grizzlies and Momma Grizzlies just like these two…instead of the soggy cucumber-and-mayonnaise Romney Guys we usually get running for office with an (R) after their name but a (D) in their hearts.
There is hope for America indeed.
REAL hope.
Not that unicorn-riding, skittles shooting, imaginary crazy hopeychange garbage.
