QUESTION: If you aren't Jewish, why do you love Israel so much?
Here’s a reader question we received yesterday that we’d like to address: “If you aren’t Jewish, why do you love Israel so much?”.
Most of us here grew up Catholic (with Panda being something like a Unitarian, though when he says it, it sounds more like “Utilitarian”, which we don’t think is a real thing), and all of us went to private schools — so we weren’t subjected to any Leftist anti-Israel propaganda until college (though we are well aware it exists in the Chicago Public School system, where pictures of Yassir Arafat and Malcolm X are proudly displayed on classroom walls).
One of us did go to a Catholic high school where the pastor made Jew jokes every once in a while, at retreats and other small events, never in the gym for the big 1,500 person masses. Fr. Keller used to say things like, “If you’re ever in New York, make sure you have a lot of spare change in your pockets, in case Jews chase you, because then just throw the coins on the ground and the Jews will stop and pick them up and you can get away”. And then he’d laugh, because everyone in Cleveland is an unfunny comedian cursing Hollywood for not giving them their own show. We’ve said this before, but many people in Cleveland are like the Connor family from Roseanne, but without professional writers or the ability to be funny in the least (to anyone but themselves). There’s just something in the water – and there are so many things wrong with Fr. Keller’s “jokes” that we don’t even know where to begin, but let us assure you that no one laughed at them but him. First off, why would Jews chase you? If Keller is right and they are attracted to money, why carry the spare change to begin with? Isn’t that what attracted them? Why did Keller get away with jokes about throwing change on the ground but didn’t feel the need to “joke” about hurling watermelons or fried chicken around if chased by other minorities? Because Jews were an acceptable target for inappropriate “humor” because the Media and Left have always proclaimed that so.
Keller was a big time Liberal, we knew that. But it wasn’t until recently that we’ve come to realize just how much the Left hates Jews — which is bizarre, because Jews in America are Liberal before they are Jewish, and blind vote Democrat against their own economic interests (which goes against Keller and the Left’s longtime jokes about Jews loving only money).
It’s funny, because this is EXACTLY the paradigm the Left tries to convince gays exists, in terms of gays not supporting conservatives unless they are self-hating gays. When we were campaigning for McCain/Palin in 2008, we were told all the time that we couldn’t be gay and vote for Republicans, because the Republicans hated us. Very often, commenters at Ace of Spades, Redstate, and even at Conservatives4Palin seem to prove that to be true — because as much as we do everything we can to help good Republican candidates out there, and as much as we support Sarah Palin, there are still nuts in Republican circles who insist on attacking us for being gay (by saying things like, “We don’t want or need your help”). Which is insane, and falls right into the Left’s Alinsky playbook of permanently driving a wedge between certain demographics of voters and their own economic best interests. We might be gay, and that’s never going to change, people, but for us to have the best lives possible we need people who understand sensible fiscal policy running this country. For the lights to stay on in Boystown, and for us to keep having our adventures and keep enjoying life in Chicago, we need people in government to cut spending, lower taxes, get us off foreign oil, make us energy independent, and create more jobs.
We knew Obama couldn’t do any of that, even if he wanted to, so we backed McCain/Palin when Hillary suspended her presidential campaign.
We see clearly that Governor Palin is a take-no-prisoners, tough-as-nails, badass who will get things done and put this country back on a fiscally responsible and prudent track, so she’s got 100% of our support and we all intend to do everything we can to keep the Left, the DNC, the Media, and the RNC from doing to her what the Left, DNC, and Media did to Hillary Clinton in 2008. If some of Palin’s supporters don’t like us working for her because we are gay, then they need to get over that right quick because we aren’t going anywhere. If you don’t want our help in making her the next president, then you better get off your sorry butt and work harder than all five of us combined because we’re not quitting until she’s got everything she needs to save America.
Unlike most Jews in America, we don’t buy the Left’s line that Republicans are evil, and we certainly don’t listen to, or tolerate, the Left’s lies and attacks on the Governor. When we look out into the undulating sea of American politics, we spot little islands of courage and pluck that we’ve set our course towards…and all of those are chock full of red, white, and blue moose for the foreseeable future. Palin is the real deal folks, and she loves Israel with all her heart too and as president will do everything she can to defend it. Which is why we support her with all our own hearts.
We don’t know what keeps Jews voting Democrat even though the Left hates Israel and loves Muslims so much — despite the fact that Islam treats women like dogs, executes gay men for being themselves, and has vowed to destroy Israel and kill all Jews. Supposedly, women, gays, and Jews are important building blocs in the Democrat coalition…yet, perversely, the Leftist-controlled Democrat party goes out of its way to back Islam, even though the would-be Global Caliphate intends to persecute large numbers of Democrats, by definition of what Islam stands for, if Islam would ever gain control of America the way it controls Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Somalia, Nigeria, and increasingly controls the Netherlands, France and Great Britain.
That’s a real head-scratcher we just can’t understand…but the Media’s partly to blame because, at least in the gay community, it convinces low-information voters and other idiots that “Republicans are evil!” when the real evil in the world is, in fact, Islam and all of Islam’s enablers (which, it’s becoming increasingly clear, includes the current Democrat Party).
So, part of why we love Israel so much is because, as guys living in Boystown, we know that gays worldwide are hated by Muslims as much as Jews are. So, there’s a kinship there, knowing that Israel sits on the Hellmouth, right in the heart of Islam, and stands her ground the way we ourselves face down all attacks on us because we happen to date guys and some out there have a problem with it.
Going to Gay Days at Disney World this year, we actually had a big revelation about Israel, if you can believe it. Waiting in line to ride Space Mountain, of all things, we looked out at Tomorrow Land and saw a sea of red tee shirts — with all those gay people assembled together in one place, becoming more of a community than we ever really achieve in Boystown. It was a pretty wonderful and emotional thing, and we realized how important Israel is to Jewish people. This one place on Earth where they have come together, after being hated for no good reason by so many everywhere else.
Israel, a land that was once just unwanted desert, that the Jews worked so hard to build up into something desirable. We remembered learning about the teams of Jews that tamed the desert, built irrigation ditches, worked day and night to create cities out of dust and rubble and to make a home for themselves. Meanwhile, Muslims just sat on their butts and watched, amazed the Jews were working so hard, since they’d never seen anyone work so hard in all their lives. As Israel grew and developed, the Muslims got jealous and wanted it for themselves — land that was Judea, land that has ALWAYS been occupied by Jews, the Muslims suddenly wanted back as a mythical place called “Palestine” that’s as real as Fantasy Land at Disney, a manufactured concept conceived by the Left as an excuse to adopt “Palestinians” as their mascots in the neverending quest to persecute Jews and take away what they worked hard for.
This feels a lot like what’s going on in Boystown these days, where our little gay neighborhood is under siege not only by the thugs who are attracted to the area to commit crimes against gays, but by the Liberal yuppies who move into Boystown and want to take it over and change it by closing all the gay bars, eliminating the gay stores, demanding noise curfews for street parties and shennanigans and generally conquering something other people worked hard to build up from nothing.
Sounds a lot like what Muslims do whenever they move anywhere — they know where they have moved to, know what it was like before they arrived, but once they get there they decide they need to impose their wants, desires, and beliefs on everyone else and subjugate all before them.
To hell with that.
We love that Israelis fight back.
We love that even young, teenaged Jews are strong and brave enough to march deep into a crowd of raging Muslims and Leftists and wave the Israeli flag proudly.
Whenever we’re attacked by the Left, either for speaking out about things that go on in Boystown or for supporting candidates like McCain, Palin, or Scott Brown in Massachusetts, we think about what Israelis go through every single day being victimized by Muslims in the home they built from nothing in a desert no one wanted until Israel made it livable.
People sometimes ask us why we support and love Sarah Palin so much, and it’s also because of this — the woman fights back, takes gruff from no one, tells it like it is, and never backs down.
Do you see a trend here?
We gravitate towards people with backbone who can take punches and give as good as they get.
We like people who stand up for the underdog, the little guy, and when they themselves end up being the underdog and little guy never give up and never surrender, no matter what’s coming at them in opposition.
Part of our support for Israel comes from us being gay, and knowing that Islam preaches death for gays all over the world, wherever Islam is in control of a nation. Death to Jews, Death to Gays, Death to all who oppose Islam. So, we’re in this together with Israel, now and forever, because Muslims actively hate us as much as they do Jews — which makes us natural allies.
Another part of this support comes from our love of America, and our realization that Israel is America’s greatest friend, and soul mate, in fact. At Disney World, walking around Frontier Land and Liberty Square, we saw depictions of Americans forging this nation out of hostile wilderness, building a great country out of nothing. That’s exactly what Israel has done. There was a time when the great powers of the world tried to destroy the colonies, to crush them, to prevent them from becoming an independent nation. The Muslim World tried to destroy Israel repeatedly — and Israel won, time and again. That same never quit, never surrender spirit that we celebrate in America exists in Israel — so, yet again, we are natural allies.
And then we get to the very personal level: we know some awesome Jews who are great friends of ours. Some of them are guys we’ve dated, who we’d do anything for. Some are people out there like Laura Rosen Cohen or Ray George who we met through HillBuzz itself, and who have helped us achieve a deeper understanding of Israel. Others are people we don’t know who always chime in and thank us for supporting Israel in any way that we can. So, we feel a kinship and connection to these friends and allies who are Jewish, and we will not allow them or Israel itself to be bashed on our watch — just as we hope they’ll always stick up for us when the Left declares its own fatwas in their neverending quest to destroy us.
So, the above is all the long answer on why we love Israel so much, despite not being Jewish.
The short answer to why we love Israel, however, is much simpler:
Israel exists.
Period.
So, we love it.
In the face of all odds stacked against it, this plucky little country exists, challenging evil, standing up to Islam, holding its ground.
We love that.
Though we’ve never visited Israel, we all hope to some day. We want to tell Israelis they have many friends in America, no matter what the Media says, or what the Left wants people to believe.
The Left is 20% of the country. At most.
The other 80% of us aren’t having any attacks on Israel, and refuse to sit quietly by and let the Left malign her.
There’s a reason Helen Thomas had to resign so suddenly on Monday, and it’s not because the Left believed she did something wrong. It’s because her employers realized she’d let her troll mask slip, and that there would be major Hell to pay from many fronts for giving the game away and being too obviously antisemitic on a national stage.
It’s like with that jerk Fr. Keller back in high school — he’d make his Jew jokes in private, thinking he was surrounded by fellow Liberals who thought they were so funny. But, he would never be bold enough to show his heart on a big stage, in front of too many people, because he was afraid of exposing his true antisemitic comedy stylings to too big of a spotlight. Liberals know their hatred of Jews is wrong and is not shared by the majority of Americans. It’s what partly drives the Left, but the Left can never be too overt about it. As Thomas’ example proves, when someone does give the game away, that person has to be removed, so the anti-Israel agenda can continue in quiet behind the scenes.
We don’t know about you, but we’ve dedicated ourselves to taking down the Left and exposing these thugs for who they really are. Hopefully, ALL of them, not just Helen Thomas, will have their masks torn off some day.
We just don’t see how any decent American could NOT love Israel, when siding against Israel means you align yourself with the Leftists and Islam.
Just what does that make you?
The Clintons are clearly trying to save the Democrat Party, probably with an eye towards Hillary '16. This is something we just can't help them do.
Yesterday, Blanche Lincoln squeaked her way to a win in the Democrat primary for the Arkansas Senate nomination.
She only won because of two things:
(1) Bill Clinton personally campaigned for her on behalf of the Clinton brand
(2) Lincoln campaigned against the Obama administration and pretty much all that it stands for and has been up to
The Left threw everything that it had against Lincoln, including all the goblin might Daily Kos and the other Soros-funded thug factories could muster. The Unions wasted $10 million of member dues to try to punish Lincoln for her kabuki performance in “standing up to the Left”, and the Unions failed big (as they fail at most things).
We say kabuki because Blanche Lincoln voted, on Christmas Eve, for the Obamacare bill that she didn’t bother to read and still doesn’t understand. No one in the Senate actually understands it. All Democrats voted for it anyway. Therefore, our opinion remains that ALL Democrats in the Senate deserve to be booted from office with immense prejudice. We would say the same thing about Hillary Clinton if she cast her vote this way too, if she had still been a Senator when this vote was taken. Every last one of these clowns completely nullified their entire careers on Christmas Eve.
It’s very similar to how the world feels about Helen Thomas right now, actually: her bout of rabid, deranged antisemitism caught on tape is the coda to her decades long career. Nothing else really matters at this point for us when it comes to her. We don’t give a damn that she was a trailblazer or thorn in the side of so many administrations. We don’t think it’s particularly important or relevant that she was indulged for so many years with the first questions at every press event. When she said Jews should go back to Poland and Germany and leave the mythical, imaginarium of “Palestine”, that was it for her. TOAST.
While we’ve never liked Helen Thomas and thought she should have retired in the 1980s (or, better yet, at age 5, when her talent peaked), we did like Blanche Lincoln for many years and know she’s a friend of the Clintons. But, we just won’t ever forget or forgive what Democrats in the Senate did on December 24th, 2009.
That vote they took, in as much secrecy as possible, rushing through an economy-killing piece of legislation that none of them even read, let alone comprehended, was the “Go back to Poland!” moment for every Democrat in office. They showed their true worth, abilities, and colors that day. Not a single one of them deserves to be in elected office.
So, this is an area where we have to break from the Clintons, whom we’ve supported and admired our entire political lives.
The Clintons, clearly, are trying to save the Democrat Party by propping up Democrats like Lincoln, and other moderates across the country. In the midst of the Democrat Civil War, the Clinton and the DLC are trying to save these Clintonian/Jacksonian Dems from not just angry voters, but the vitriol thrown at them by the Left.
It’s a continuation of what the Left started in 2008, actually, where Donna Brazile, Howard Dean, and others in the DNC hatched their plan to purge the party of moderates. They deliberately have alienated working class, rural, and conservative Democrats (now former Democrats) to drive the party squarely to the Left, putting radical Leftists in the nation’s driver’s seat for the first time in history.
The results speak for themselves.
The Clintons know a shellacking is coming in November. It’s sad and hilarious the Left doesn’t realize this, and keeps insisting the problem is that the Left just isn’t communicating its ideas better. No — the problem is that the Left’s ideas and agenda are insane and destructive, and that the tactics they employ to advance their pet projects are rooted in base thuggery, intimidation, fraud, and all things un-American. The electorate is having a visceral reaction to all of this, and just as Democrats purged the Clinton Coalition from the party in 2008, American voters are poised to purge Leftists from office in the fall.
And the problem for the DNC is that they rebranded ALL Democrats as Leftists in 2008. Proudly so.
The Clintons are trying to mitigate the damages to the party and save people like Lincoln, in the hopes that after the Obama Democrats fall, the Clintons can take back the party, move it back to the middle, rebuild it, and then probably try to run Hillary Clinton again in 2016 once Americans see Democrats as centrists again.
We just don’t think this will work.
We believe the Democrat Party is a dead man walking.
The Obama people did so much damage to the Democrat brand in this the Golden Age of Hope and Change that we don’t see any way for even the best Madison Avenue agencies to repackage the party and make it palatable enough for a Democrat to be trusted enough by the public to occupy the Oval Office again for another generation.
Normally, when a brand is damaged this badly, someone has sense enough to realize it and pull the plug. There used to be a restaurant chain called Chi-Chi’s that went out of business after a green onion salmonella outbreak in the 2000s. In the Midwest, a Chi-Chi’s bustled in every mall until that brand was linked to making people sick from salmonella. Once enough focus groups and polling was done to determine there was no way for Chi-Chi’s to recover customer trust, the parent company just shuttered the entire chain, cutting their losses.
We believe Obama is the Democrats’ salmonella, only the Media, in full cheerleading mode, is keeping many in the party (but not all) from realizing they’re in a Chi-Chi’s situation here.
We don’t believe the Clintons are doing what they are doing because they love the Democrat Party with all their hearts — how could they, after what the party did to them in 2008? We think they spend a lot of time laughing at every foolish mistake this administration makes, and Hillary’s thrilled she wasn’t forced to vote for any of the madness Harry Reid has forced through the Senate. We’re thrilled with that last bit too, because if she had voted for any of this, we’d be in the heartbreaking position of having to actively work against her, because we’d find ourselves in a Sophie’s choice between the country we love and a woman we have always known would make a great president.
We always choose America, over everyone and everything else. Always.
And in that spirit, we just don’t believe a Democrat should be president in 2012.
We just don’t see a way the Clintons could successfully take back and rebuild the party in just two years, and repair all the damage Obama has done. We don’t believe the Clintons could successfully purge the party of the Left, even if they wanted to, because the Clintons know Democrats need the Left as a base to win nationally.
The Clintons also know Democrats need not only a large chunk of Independents to win, but they also need enough conservatives to play stupid purist games and sit out the elections, or idiotically throw votes to a third party spoiler, for Democrats to triumph.
So, we believe every move the two of them make has three parts to it:
(1) To save moderate Democrats so that they can be used to rebuild the party under the DLC after the 2010 debacle
(2) To not alienate the Left completely, so that when the Obama people are gone the Left has to accept the Clintons as the better alternative to indefinite Republican rule
(3) To make independents believe Democrats have returned to their senses and gone back to the middle, with the old Clinton Coalition back in place
We don’t believe there is any way for them to succeed with (3) above, so the other two points are moot.
The reason we feel this way is that we think Obama didn’t just let the Democrats’ mask slip, he yanked it off completely and revealed the true horrors that may have always lurked unbeknownst to us in this party.
Before 2008, we never believe Democrats were capable of any of the things they did with ACORN, the SEIU, the Black Panthers, and other thugs to commit voter fraud, intimidation, race-baiting, and every other tactic used to snag the nomination for Obama.
The sheer brutality of the Left’s attacks against Hillary’s supporters is what permanently alienated us from the DNC. It’s not that Hillary didn’t get the nomination and isn’t president now — it’s that the DNC used its attack machine against its own people, and those of us on the receiving end of that brutality won’t ever forget or forgive it.
We want the DNC to get a big taste of its own medicine, and work every day to do all that we can to make sure that happens.
The whole party can just go to Hell. The Clintons are straining to stop that from happening, and to save Democrats — but we believe only because they know Hillary Clinton won’t ever be president if the party is destroyed. They need that infrastructure, so that’s why they are in rescue mode.
But, we believe things are so bad under Obama that even by 2016 Americans won’t be ready to trust someone with a (D) after their name in the Oval. We also believe President Palin will win re-election handily in 2016, because every day she proves to us more and more that she has just what this country needs, right when she needs it.
It breaks our hearts to have to face this reality, but it does not appear likely that Hillary Clinton will ever be president. By 2020, we don’t think she’d want to throw herself into another race, one to succeed Palin as the 46th US President.
The Left kept a great woman from being the first female president in 2008, and we will always be haunted by the fact that we didn’t come up with a way to stop them from pushing Obama onto the country.
All we can do now, instead of looking back at the mistakes of the past, is to make sure Governor Palin has all the support she needs to win in 2012 and rebuild the country during her presidency.
We would love to see President Palin support Hillary to become UN Secretary General in the future, becoming the first female and first American in that position, while depriving Obama of what we believe is his ultimate goal and prize. And as much as we love the Clintons, we just don’t want them to succeed in saving the Democrat Party. Let it fracture into pieces, with a Far Left party, a Leftist Party, and a Left of Center party emerging, all of which can be run by crazies of various stripes, while sane people either go Independent or establish a new American Party in the middle.
We know we will never be Republicans so long as people like Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty, John Thune, Mitch Daniels, and the rest of the cucumbers-and-mayonnaise gang are Republican standard bearers. No thanks. We’re jeans and tee shirt guys, not khaki pants and blue blazers. We’d much prefer a barbeque outside to any cocktail party. We’re a lot more like Todd Palin than anything else, really…guys who aren’t Republicans, but support great Republicans like Sarah Palin, Michele Bachman, Jan Brewer, Nikki Haley, and other awesome Americans.
It’s our sincere hope that Sarah Palin’s emerging “pioneer feminism” sweeps the country, washes over the GOP, and drowns the Romneys and Pawlentys completely, creating a better Republican Party than has ever existed in our lifetimes. We think we’d still end up as Independents in the end, but who knows what will happen when Governor Palin is in charge.
But Democrats, for all intents and purposes, are indeed dead to us at this point.

RESEARCH: Who has "president" Obama met with in the last 52 days (since he's refused to meet with BP CEO Tony Hayward)?
Here’s an interesting bit of research that would make a great graphic. We need your help to pull it off though. The idea is this: we want to show all the people the current president, Dr. Utopia, has met with in all of his fancy dinners, cocktail parties, vacations, and other adventures during the last 52 days, instead of meeting with BP CEO Tony Hayward. We’d like to visually represent this somehow….maybe the way we do the “Who’s Dressed Better?” comparisons, with all the people Obama’s met with on one side of an oily line (perhaps with a barrel of oil leaking it from the top), and then Tony Hayward off to the side, ignored, unconsulted, and kept as far away from this president as possible.
Being from Chicago, we recognize what’s going on. This is very much a Daley trick, patented in the Chicago machine.
Obama does not want to meet with Hayward because he does not want to be photographed with Hayward because he erroneously believes doing this would indelibly link him to the disaster, and Obama above all else is a self-promoter who leaps great distances to take full great for any successes, and would shove his own grandmother under the bus to avoid taking blame for anything.
And, he actually did just that during the 2008 campaign (with the “typical white person” comment he made about her).
So, the reason Obama has refused to meet with Hayward is because Obama believes doing so would then make the Gulf Spill Disaster his responsibility. This is a man who has avoided all responsibility his entire life, and has never actually done any of the jobs he was elected to, seeing them as mere stepping stones to something bigger. In his mind, UN Secretary General is sort of “President of Earth”, and that’s what we believe Obama’s real end game is. He wants to take Secretary Moon’s place in the next UN election, and doesn’t care about this country any more than he cared about the shambles of a district he represented in the Illinois state senate, or the state of Illinois itself in the US Senate, when he briefly served there (while running for higher office starting the day after he was sworn in).
We know that in the last few weeks, he’s spent time with Paul McCartney and the singer Beyonce.
Who else has he taken time to meet, while refusing to meet with BP CEO Tony Haywood?
Seems like a great opportunity not only to embarrass this White House, but also to draw further attention to just how much this president spends on lavish parties, getaways, concerts, and the like while regular Americans struggle every day to pay their rent and eat dinner once in a while.
