Question: Why is it like the first rumblings of Vesuvius that David Obey's retiring?

Early rehearsal for the long-postponed "Family Ties on Ice"
This is going to be very interesting, because it seems to have taken almost everyone in Washington by surprise — and we are curious what all the talking heads are saying about David Obey’s shock decision to throw in the towel and choose early retirement instead of running to keep his Congressional seat in Wisconsin. He’s, essentially, just handing the seat to total babe Sean Duffy, who could possibly become the hottest Congressman ever in the fall (no matter what Aaron Schock thinks of himself).
Obey is the third most powerful person in Congress right now.
Why would he retire?
The excuse he’s given is that he “wants to spend more time with (his) beard”, which, for once, in terms of the guys we talk about on this site, does not refer to his wife. He wants to spend time perfecting, grooming, nurturing, and snuggling his actual beard. Apparently, he was also offered a role in “Family Ties on Ice”, after Michael Gross turned down the part (to focus on making more straight to DVD movies about giant carnivorous worms).
Can you appreciate how marvelous his life must be, with all the power Obey has in Congress (and no giant carnivorous worms bedraggling him)? Giving it up would be like abandoning Versailles…or, more apt, maybe a luxe state room on the Titanic or Hindenberg.
What tea leaves does Obey’s departure from the race swirl for Democrats’ futures in November?
Is this another rumbling of a major, apocalyptic, volcanic blow-out for Democrats?
What think you?
Who would you cast as Mallory and Jennifer?
Go, Sean Duffy, Go! Corruptocrat David Obey won't seek re-election
Sean Duffy’s a total babe who can give Scott Brown a run for the Hottie McAwesome title. You might remember him from one of the Real World seasons, where he displayed some of his lumberjack competition skills, making him look like a rugged Baberaham Lincoln in training. Wowsers.
Well, he’s running for Congress, and his general McAwesomeness and an endorsement from none other than Sarah Palin seems to have scare the living daylights out of corruptocrat David Obey, who’s decided to choose early retirement instead of fighting for his seat in Wisconsin.
Wouldn’t it be great to elect really hot, young, McAwesome Republicans to all sorts of seats currently held by gassy, corrupt, tone-deaf, elitist, Socialist-Democrats?
Hells yeah.
RESEARCH: Photos of Nancy Reagan deplaning Air Force One
Our favorite artist, the incomparable Chrissy-the-Hyphenated, needs a great photo of Nancy Reagan deplaning Air Force One for the next Class vs. Crass installment.
Can anyone locate a pic of Mrs. Reagan arriving somewhere, representing the United States and its presidency with the utmost style, grace and class — hopefully resplendent in red, her signature color?
Any and all photos of Mrs. Reagan deplaning Air Force One are great source material for Chrissy. Either add a link to this thread, or email them to us at HillBuzz@gmail.com, ATTN: Chrissy! and we’ll make sure she gets them.
Oh, this is going to be a good one, thanks to all of your help!

UPDATE: Much thanks to everyone for their help with this project. Because of your EXCELLENT research, we went a different route, and instead of featuring Mrs. Reagan deplaning, we went with this other pic instead, found through your Googling.
What class — even at a basketball game.
We know we aren’t alone smiling and fondly remembering what it was like to have an excellent First Lady like Mrs. Reagan in the White House.
Please keep adding to this thread and celebrating Nancy as much as you’d like, and adding your links to your favorite photos of her so that Chrissy can use it as a resource for future installments of Class vs. Crass.
BIZARROWORLD: Michael Sneed in Chicago is pushing the Vera Baker affair again today…someone at the White House really must want you to believe Obama is heterosexual
Michael Sneed is a woman, first of all.
That usually confuses a lot of people. Because some people think that’s a picture of a cross-dresser, but it’s not. As far as we know.
It might be an alcoholic’s picture, though, because most of what Sneed writes is so crazy, Captain Morgan has to be involved at some point.
It’s HIGHLY suspicious that Michael Sneed has gotten involved in the whole “Let’s Push Vera Baker” thing the White House is doing. This is not usually Sneed’s cup of 100-proof tea.
And Sneed knows better: Vera Baker did not have an affair with Obama. Michelle pushed her out of Obama’s presidential campaign because Michelle pushes women away from her all the time. See also: Desiree Rogers and Oprah Winfrey. That’s just what Michelle does. It’s a predatory instinct on her part, and it’s not about a rival for a mate, but about another woman around who is smarter than her, has better ideas than her, is more beautiful than her, and is getting attention that she wants. Michelle is a very jealous, pushy, controlling, and egomaniacal woman. Sneed knows this.
And Sneed also knows that Baker worked for Burris, as many people did, thinking Burris would run for Senate. When we encountered Baker in the spring of 2009, she was gearing up to fundraise for Burris’ Senate campaign. That’s what Baker does. She’s a fundraiser — and a damn good one. Her speciality is black candidates.
Baker stayed with Burris even after he announced he would not run for election to the Senate because Burris had a lot of debt and needed to fundraise to cover his staff expenses, which was hard, because the media did everything it could to make Burris a pariah — which had the effect of limiting his fundraising ability. You think it’s hard to raise cash for a candidate running for office whom the media maligns every day? Try getting people to donate to him when he’s not even running for office, so there’s no hope of these people ever getting a return on that investment. It’s a tough, tough sell…but Baker did a great job for Burris.
She left Burris’ employ in February because Baker needs to land in a new position to support her family. Burris will be done in January of 2011, and will retire from politics completely. Baker needed to take an opportunity now, while she could, to make sure she has a job going forward. These are tough times for everyone. And, frankly, working for Burris, after all the media put this man through, does not look the best on a resume.
Baker took a big hit by staying with him as long as she did.
We cannot emphasize this enough: we shared a pot roast pizza with Baker. We know people who know her much better than that. SHE DID NOT HAVE AN AFFAIR WITH A GAY MAN.
She’s not Liza Minnelli.
The White House is completely insane for trying to push Baker as the president’s mistress…and we swear this is going to blow up in their faces before all is said and done.

UPDATE: Due to some technical issues, the Ustream was down today, but we’ll have a podcast or MP3 up as soon as that’s available to us. Hopefully, next week, this will be working.
These will be quicker and shorter segments than what we usually do on other shows, but we hope we can get people in Alabama interested in what’s going on politically, and maybe make more than a few new friends and allies down there to help defeat the Socialist-Democrats and save our country from ruin in the months and years ahead.

UPDATE #2: Kimberly Madison and Scott Shepherd are just great, and we had a lot of fun doing the show this morning. We’re really blessed, because all the shows we’ve ever been on have been so welcoming and encouraging to us. Notice, we’ve never done MSNBC or CNN. So, maybe that has something to do with it.
Kimberly’s going to send up an MP3 of the show today, and we’re trying to think of a way to get this uploaded somehow. Maybe one of you out there can help us turn that MP3 into a YouTube video…that’s the only way we can think of to get that uploaded.
We’re working on a Mac that has iMovie, but we have no clue how to use that…so if you have the know-how, can you spell out the exact directions on how to take an MP3 file and then use iMovie to make a video of it.
If you teach us, we’ll do it, and try to have that up tonight or tomorrow, if we can figure out how to do that. We really aren’t kidding when we say we have no idea how to do these technical things…but, if you can teach us, we can learn, and then just watch us go.

Question: What impact did the Tea Party have on the Ohio election yesterday?
Here’s something we’d like you to help us look into today: the Cleveland Plain Dealer is claiming the Tea Party had no impact on the elections in Ohio yesterday. We believe this is more MSM lies, and wishful thinking on the part of Democrats. As the election results are made available in full, let’s analyze them and see what’s really going on.
At first blush, it’s clear to us the Tea Party had a HUGE impact in Ohio.
* George Soros and White House backed candidate Jennifer Brunner went down in flames — even with ACORN, the SEIU, and the Organizing for America goons in her corner. This is the woman who made sure voter registration and other types of fraud benefitted Democrats in 2008…and she couldn’t win a primary for herself, against a man who’s run for everything from dog catcher to space cowboy in the state of Ohio for as long as many of us have been alive. Lee Fisher is a colossal joke. And he wiped the floor with Brunner. Voters did not want to back the Soros/White House candidate.
* School levies failed in most districts yesterday. The levies were supported by the Left. They should have passed, since these levies are “hidden” in weird, off-year, oddly scheduled elections like yesterday’s — which a good portion of the public didn’t even know about. Usually, these money grub-a-thons are timed so that the only people voting are the elderly and unemployed, who in many areas of Ohio can typically be counted upon to vote Democrat blindly. Not so this time. Why is that? Because voters in Ohio did not want to write Democrats blank checks to waste more tax money.
Ohio is crucial to Democrats for 2012.
If they can’t marshall their goon squads and fraud brigades to game an off-year, oddball election like yesterday, which should have been easy for them to win with a Soros-installed Secretary of Fraud like Jennifer Brunner personally invested in the outcome, then how are they going to fare in the fall…and 2012 after that?
What other interesting lessons can be found in yesterday’s Ohio results?
The Boondocks Take On the Race-Voting Black Community
The black community is, bar none, the absolute most racist demographic in this country.
If you are black, they will vote for you. If you aren’t black, no matter how good a candidate you are, if you are up against any random black person, even if plucked from the phone book, blacks will just vote for whomever looks most like them. And if you beat a black person at anything, fair and square, brace yourself for the Al Sharpton/Henry Gates/Jesse Jackson wailing and screaming brigade, always prepped to reward and foster mendacity under the banner of affirmative action.
See: Election 2008.
And watch “The Boondocks” while you’re at it.
It’s a cartoon produced, written, voiced, and quite possibly even drawn by blacks — so the Left is going to have a very hard time trying to claim this is racist.
They will, of course, proclaim it racist, because that’s what the Left does with anything and everything critical of the current president. All dissent is racist. All criticism is racist. Anything not proclaiming black people to be angels sent by God to walk perfectly upon the Earth and never do wrong is doubleplus-racist.
Just three years ago, dissent and criticism were patriotic, and speaking the truth was encouraged — but that’s when Bush was president.
Not so much now.
We doubt there’s any way Obama gets less than 90% 0f the black vote in 2012, no matter how much he fails to deliver on any of his promises, or how little the black community gets for supporting him. As long as he doesn’t pull a Michael Jackson and whiten up by the next presidential election, he’s got this one demographically locked-in as solidly Democrat. And, even then, just look at Jackson — they stood by him, just as they stood by OJ, no matter what.
Which is fascinating.
And, in a word, RAAAACIST!!!!!
