IMPORTANT READING ASSIGNMENT: First Private Lawsuit Against Obamacare, Attacking "Commerce Clause" Justification for Government Encroachment
We believe firmly that all Americans need to read this article at BigGovernment, entitled Liberty in Action. Its author, K. Douglas Lee, includes a copy of the complaint he filed today in Mississippi against the federal government and Socialist-Democrats’ insistence the “Commerce Clause” allows them to mandate the purchase of a product by every living American.
We need as many people as possible to read this article, read the complaint, and chime in with ideas on how this material can be broken down into understandable bites for Americans who do not follow politics as closely as the rest of us.
What we really need is the material in this article and complaint to be illustrated into a chart that shows, clearly, WHY the Obamacare legislation is unconstitutional.
What would be MARVELOUS is if talented moderates and conservatives could produce a School House Rock style cartoon-type video teaching regular people why Socialist-Democrats far exceeded the constitutional scope of the federal government and created a monstrous bill that drastically changes the structure of our country as we know it.
What we keep saying remains frighteningly clear: if Washington is allowed to force Americans to buy a product like insurance, there will be no end to what Washington can force you to buy, or to do. Government Motors is in trouble — will you be forced to buy a car next? Would they force you to purchase one of the lemons rusting on lots no one wants, because they need to get rid of them, and the “Commerce Clause” was so stretched by Obamacare that Washington now feels it can order Americans to purchase all manner of junk?
Between now and November, Americans need to understand just how dangerous and nation-changing Obamacare is, in that it unconstitutionally forces people to spend money BUYING something. That’s unprecedented. It’s unimaginable for our government to dictate. It’s a gross slap at the sovereignty of the individual states. And, frankly, it’s unconstitutional.
Please read the material above, and try your best to paraphrase all of it in ways you think average people could really wrap their heads around.
90% of the country will never read this complaint.
60% would never read an article on Big Government.
But if we can take the ideas and arguments found in this article, and somehow creatively break them down and present them in a more manageable form, we believe we COULD get a larger number of Americans up in arms over this unconstitutional encroachment of Washington into our lives.
Question: How often would you see this clip if it was President George W. Bush falling on the ground?
You all know how much we love the bar Sidetracks here in Boystown. In a lot of ways, it’s like our little clubhouse, where we plan many an adventure and get the scoop on all sorts of things here in Boystown, especially on Showtunes and Comedy nights, which we love. That’s when the VJs play little clips of Broadway musicals for people to sing-a-long to, or snippets of comedy routines from TV for people to laugh at. Unless they’re clips of Janeane Garofalo, who isn’t, and has never been funny, in which case you’d just hear crickets.
We love Sidetracks, but have had problems with them in the past for overezealously mocking President Bush. We believe EVERY political figure deserves some ribbing. This is not the royal court of Versailles and we do not have a Sun King — or a Lightbringer. Fascism reigns when political humor and satire wither.
But, the hatred spewed at Bush was just too much. Months after he left office, the clips of Bush tripping at various times over his 8 years in office, or of him dropping something, or Bush trying to open a locked door were played over and over and over again. It reached a point where they were as relevant as running old home movies of Gerald Ford falling down the stairs on Air Force One. Yes, it happened. It was never really very funny, but it was relevant, once, before a lot of us were even born. Why keep playing it?
Because it makes a Republican look bad, and that’s what the gay community likes to do, because many of us are taught by the Left that the only acceptable targets for barbs and repetitious mockery have (Rs) at the end of their names.
So, when we saw this clip today of Dr. Utopia falling to the ground, we just knew the MSM would completely ignore it, the way they ignore everything that makes Utopia look bad. However, if this was footage of Bush falling down, it would have been looped endlessly not just at Sidetracks, but all over the broadcast networks.
Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann would have driven their Priuses door to door to make sure as many people as possible witnessed Bush falling to the ground and looking stupid.
Not so much for Dr. Utopia.
It’s a shame moderates and conservatives don’t have a ready-to-go rapid response video team who can put together clips like this of Utopia doing something stupid, set them to Benny Hill style music, and release them virally into pop culture.
Sidetracks has some great video editors who do a fantastic job creating comedy bits out of footage like this — but there’s no way they would do anything to mock a Leftist.
Somewhere out there, we hope there’s an alternate-universe, conservative Sidetracks where Utopia’s falls get the lampooning and ridicule they deserve…just like everyone else who has held that office before him.
Belated April Fool's Joke? Chicago Tribune rediscovers journalism and fires massive Trident-powered nuke at Alexi Giannoulias
There are family Christmas newsletters that are better written, harder-hitting, and more relevant than the Chicago Tribune.
For whatever reason, the Tribune finally realized Alexi Giannoulias is an enormous crook, whose family bank, Broadway Bank, was a major funder of mob activity in Chicago for years. Broadway Bank = the mob’s bank. Alexi Giannoulias = the guy whose family funds the Chicago mob.
The Trezbuchowski Family Holiday Letter was all over this last Christmas. We’ve been talking about it nonstop since we started this site in 2008. But, for whatever reason, the Tribune ignored the story. They were also scooped on little Timmy Trezbuchowski’s new bike and the fact Ernestine Trezbuchowski was trying a new diet, which had largely been successful, “until all of Nanna Anna’s famous Christmas cookies started showing up!”.
We were, in fact, STUNNED to walk by a newsstand and see a full page story on the $20 million the Giannoulias Family gave to organized crime in Illinois, by way of Broadway Bank. Giannoulias was a senior loan officer there at the time, though he’s repeatedly said he “forgot” everything he knew about the bank and “doesn’t remember” making any loans to the mob.
This is the current Treasurer of the state of Illinois.
Who can’t remember things he did just four years or so ago, when he was running the mob’s bank.
He’s also the current Democrat nominee for the Senate.
All of this you know already.
But, what we want to figure out is WHY the Tribune dropped this story today, on the front page, and gave it such mammoth exposure. Nothing new is in the story. If they felt compelled to write about this, they could have buried it somewhere on Sunday, after pages of Easter Egg hunt coverage, or lengthy essays on the pros and cons of elaborately styled bonnets.
So, what’s the game here?
Was the Tribune ordered to nuke Giannoulias to get him to quit the Senate race so the White House can install someone it wants to run in the general election? We’ve been told that Giannoulias is refusing to let go and will crash and burn in the general before he steps aside and lets someone else take the nomination from him.
Does this up the ante?
Curiouser and curiouser.

Your new mission should be to obsessively follow every twist and turn ACORN takes in its rebuilding
Please read this article over at Human Events – about the April Fool’s joke ACORN pulled yesterday, in choosing that day — of all days — to “officially discontinue operations”.
Yah, right.
ACORN is just going to quietly reform under a hydra of other names, but it will still be the same old ACORN, the same Leftist goon squad.
We believe the key to defeating ACORN permanently is to become obsessive experts on everything this hydra is doing.
It’s going to be tough. It’s going to be boring in many ways. But it must be done, by amateurs and armchair journalists out there, because the MSM refuses to touch ACORN, since it is an arm of the Socialist-Democrat Party.
We know guys who obsessively follow college football and can name almost every player and coach, on almost every team, and recount their latest gridiron adventures in amazing detail. They have spreadsheets. They have trading cards. They have rosters and playbooks and all sorts of charts and graphs mapping out the college football world.
What if we, collectively, as moderates, conservatives, and independents teamed up and created an enthusiasm for taking down ACORN in all its forms that rose to this obsessive level of detail? What if people followed ACORN and its affiliates with as much attention as others give to these football teams and players?
It’s a big project. It will be difficult to start. There are many resources to tap and pull together.
But, what would happen to ACORN if — for the first time ever — a nationwide team formed that made it their obsessive hobby to follow every move ACORN makes?
That would be a game-changer, in our opinion.
ACORN depends on darkness and secrecy to accomplish its goals. It’s so confident of its reforming, that it used April Fool’s as an in-joke yesterday, believing it can fool the public into believing it’s going away…and counting on the Republican Party to fumble and bumble and allow them to reform, like always.
What if the Tea Party Movement and independent Americans stepped in and did what the GOP has never done, and took down ACORN in all its forms and refused to allow it to reform?
How can we make that happen?
We think the key to all of this is funding…cutting off the Donors who keep ACORN afloat. Exposing these people. Demanding they stop writing checks to ACORN. Cutting off that revenue stream to starve the hydra into extinction.
How do we achieve this?
The Awesomeness That Is Frenchie Davis
So, last night we got the opportunity to thank Frenchie Davis for something she did at Pride in 2008 — when she stood up for the LGBTQ community and shouted down nasty, “religious”, bigots who crudely scribbled random Bible verses on cardboard and did their level best to ruin one of the big gay festivals here in Chicago. Frenchie stood up for Boystown that day, and we’ve never forgotten her strength, grace, class, and courage.
There are a lot of people in life who inspire us this way, who do things that we find so extraordinary that we just want the opportunity to thank them in person for being awesome.
Some day, we want to thank George W. and Laura Bush for their service to this country, and the grace in which they carried themselves for eight years working hard in the White House. We want to thank Dick Cheney for keeping America safe, and for being the strongest advocate for LGBTQ rights we can think of. We’re fortunate enough to have had many occasions to thank Bill and Hillary Clinton for their service to the country, and for all they’ve done to inspire us through the years, and we’ve had the opportunity to thank all sorts of celebrities who roll through Chicago, from Cyndi Lauper to random people like Bob Harper (the trainer from Biggest Loser), for changing people’s lives and giving them something to shoot for and believe in.
None of these people are perfect. Celebrities aren’t saints. Sometimes politicians disappoint us and prove how human and fallible they are.
But, we love living in a world where moments of courage, leadership, and general awesomeness are on display, and often found in the most random and unexpected places.
So, last night, after she sang at Roscoe’s 23rd Anniversary party, Frenchie Davis very graciously signed autographs at a table near the fireplace in one of the rooms in the bar. She looked gorgeous, and was as sweet as could be. We walked right up to her and asked her if she remembered what she did at Pride here in Chicago, and she lit up and said, “I just couldn’t believe those people acting the fool like that. I had to say something”, before telling us a little about her father and how he always taught her to stand up to bullies, no matter who they were bullying. ”Get involved. Don’t let them throw stones at anyone. You stand up for others ’cause one day you might want someone to stand up for you when you need it”.
Frenchie has the light and love of angels in her heart — the woman positively glows, and her beautiful brown eyes are wide and wise and filled with so much compassion for others. It was a real treat to meet her, and to get a giant hug from such a big supporter of our community.
She signed autographs for all of us, which is something we very rarely ask anyone for, but we’re going to frame one and put it in our Hall of Heroes here at Buzzquarters, so Frenchie can continue to inspire us to speak out on all the things we think need attention and to never cower and back down when bullied by lunatics from the Left.
Frenchie told us she’s coming back to Chicago for Pride this June, and we can’t wait to see her up on the stage again.
She also said she’s been told those “religious” protestors have not been back to Pride or Market Days since she called them out. We told her that’s true, and that the community believes her public shaming of those zealot nuts is what’s kept them away. She stole all their thunder and blasted them with a spotlight they never knew could burn so bright and fabulous.
If only there was a way to do that to the Westboro Baptist Church and Fred Phelps.
We’d need a whole army of Frenchies for that.
Dare we dream of a world with that much awesome in it.
*********
NOTE: We only could find a small clip of Frenchie calling out those bigots, but if you look closely at the video, you can see some of their homemade hate signs, telling everyone in the crowd they hope we get AIDS. The clip starts where Frenchie educates these people and tells them straight people get AIDS too. She probably talked for about 3 minutes before this part, but we can’t find video of the whole thing. In the future, we need to start making videos of our own and learning how to edit them into Youtube clips because we just can’t rely on others to always put this great stuff out there for posterity.
Kal Penn's bizarre term at the White House comes to an end: he's leaving to go back to making lame movies
One of the strangest things the current administration did was bring actor Kal Penn to the West Wing to work as “Associate Director of Public Engagements”. Whatever that is.
Surely, in a country this large, someone other than “the guy from the White Castle movies” could have been found to fill this position — whatever it does.
It just doesn’t make any real sense that Penn was brought into the White House in the first place, and it makes even less sense that he’s leaving so soon, while there’s another 2.5 years left in The Golden Age of Hope and Change, before Dr. Utopia himself is asked to leave by voters.
It sure feels like this is another Desiree Rogers time-delayed firing. Remember, the White House let Rogers twist in the wind for a few months after her disastrous handling of the India State Dinner, before cutting her loose and humiliating her.
Penn got caught up in the memogate involving the White House’s plot to use the National Endowment for the Arts to fund artistic projects to glorify the Obama Administration. Essentially, this is the sort of thing Saddam Hussein used to do with his own version of the NEA — whatever it was called — that produced all those giant murals, statues, and jello sculptures of Hussein. Dr. Utopia wanted that sort of thing done here, in the United States, with taxpayers funding it. Penn was one of the people pushing for the NEA to Baathify America.
Once those memos came out, it seemed like we never heard another word about Penn working in the West Wing. It’s as if he disappeared.
Just like with Rogers, it’s weird this man left his former life and moved to DC to work for this amateur and disorganized administration, only to leave so quickly, supposedly on his own volition.
We don’t buy that at all.
It’s not like the world is clamoring for another White Castle movie.
Or even those square little White Castle burgers themselves.
Who do these people think they are fooling?
Maybe someone needs to take a better look at all that NEA business, because if Penn got pushed out over it, there might be more there than previously thought.
