What’s in your mind this Tuesday?
******************************
Help us do some legwork this morning.
We need to identify the Top 20 likeliest YES votes in the House for the Senate’s Rationing bill that can possibly be flipped to NO if the right pressure is put on them.
We’ve seen the White House is bribing Congress critters for votes, and Rahm Emanuel’s stripping naked and running through Washington sticking his…finger…in people’s faces, demanding they do what he says (or, presumably, he’ll remain nude).
It’s time to hit the Left where it hurts most…their donors.
Step One: Identify 20 House Democrats who could indeed vote NO if the right pressure is on them.
Step Two: Identify the 5 largest private donors (people or law firms, not corporations…we need actual people because we don’t have time for a corporation to respond…and law firms are so strict with billing that a sudden burst of activity aimed at them from the public will instantly be noticed, as all that energy won’t be billable).
Step Three: Write letters, send emails and faxes, and melt the phones of the 100 largest contributors to the campaigns of the Top 20 Likeliest Democrats who could vote NO on this madness.
Step Four: Those big donors tell the House members the public has started calling, writing, and faxing them. The big donors will not be happy. We believe they could persuade those 20 House members to change their votes to NO to get the public to “shut up”.
We have about a week to make something happen.
Others will be hitting their own targets and doing their own part…this is an idea we had on how we could personally help tip the scales a little, based on what we know about super rich people who give a lot of money to politicians.
They do NOT want to hear from the public. They do NOT want to get negative attention from the public.
So, let’s get that list of “The Twenty” in the House ASAP so that we can then get to work doing the FEC research to find the Big Bundlers who fund those twenty House Dems. And then, we need to make persuasive magic happen.
It’s a big, big job, so we hope the Tea Party Movement picks up on this and helps us run with it.
The goal is to have a target list, the donor names, and the donor contact information assembled in a convenient and usable format by the end of today…tomorrow at the earliest.
We need your help to do the research and legwork. Assemble all info you can find in this post, and let’s work together to make this happen.

H/t Ace of Spades
We’ve told you before about the “nationality” obsession here in Chicago. Guys born and raised in Chicago will come up to you and ask, “What’s your nationality?” as their cold open pick up line question. Not the 70s retro, “What’s your sign?”. Not, “So, what kind of beer is that you’re drinking?”. Never, “What books have you been reading?”. Reading? What’s that?
Nope. ”What are you?”. ”Where is your family from?”. “What country hundreds of years ago did relatives you don’t know the names of leave and move here?”.
None of us here have immigrant relatives. None of us here have any allegiance to any country but this one. None of us have a “nationality” other than American.
We bleed red, white, and blue, baby…even if it is a little rainbow tinted and borderline fabulous.
So, we agree with Ace of Spades, Redstate, and others who are urging you to complete the US Census, Question #9 by choosing “Other” for race/ethnicity and writing AMERICAN on that line. It’s what we are going to be doing. We hope you do it too.
The US Government should get the same answer we give drunk idiots who ask this crap at Sidetracks.
Our “nationality” is the nation we are part of, the nation we love, the only nation we have ever known.
We will answer this way whenever asked, whomever’s asking the question.

According to Hotair.com about my Congressman, the do-nothing D-Chicago Rep:
(He did vote Present on Stimulus… the only D to do so)
http://hotair.com/archives/2010/03/08/lipinski-flips-to-no-on-obamacare/
According to John McCormack, we can put Rep. Dan Lipinski (D-IL) in the firm “no” column on the upcoming ObamaCare vote. Previously, Lipinski has been mentioned as part of Stupak’s coalition of previous votes in favor of ObamaCare that may flip to opposition because of the language regarding abortion funding. Lipinski confirmed that with the Weekly Standard:
Add Congressman Dan Lipinski of Illinois to the coalition of pro-life Democrats standing firmly with Bart Stupak in the fight over taxpayer-funding of abortion in the health care bill. Asked if the congressman is “open to voting for a health care bill that lacks the Stupak amendment,” Lipinski’s spokesman Nathaniel Zimmer replied in an email to THE WEEKLY STANDARD:
===== END QUOTE FROM hot air
I live in Lipinski’s district so this was music to my ears.
I just called his Washington office and the lady who answered the phone would only say “The Congressman has strong reservations about the Senate bill” but I was at work and didn’t have time to get into the details.
I urged him to vote no and save the country from being bankupted and to save the Constitution.
His DC number is

I copied and pasted my response from another blog that I wrote this afternoon.. obviously no one is in their office at 11 PM, nor am I working.
March 9, 2010 at 8:35 am
That may not stay very long… Stupek is on the verge of voting, the way this sounds:
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/03/09/stupak-optimistic-health-abortion-deal/
March 9, 2010 at 11:49 am
Bart Gordon is also a question mark. He made statements concerning that he’d switch to a yes vote. He’s retiring and Pelosi is probably dangling a consult job as a carrot. That’s what we in TN think anyway. He’s getting HAMMERED in a conservative district. There was no way he was going to win if he ran again.
March 9, 2010 at 12:27 am
Stupak needs to be first — looks like he is caving.

Worse — Dems may be planning on piggy-backing more Obama agenda on Reconciliation
http://minx.cc/?post=299143
Good grief — he is bound and determined to make this country a Marxist State. We can’t let him and must not give up.
March 9, 2010 at 12:33 am
Regarding the link on Obama preparing to add on to the Health Care Reconciliation Bill — one poster wrote an interesting comment –
I just read about this in the Wsj. Talk about over-reach! What next? In ten years this will be made into either a comedy series or sci-fi, either way, we will get through this. So INSANE!
March 9, 2010 at 8:54 am
Michele Malkin has this posted on her site about Stupak. Most commenters seem to feel he will be bought off.
March 9, 2010 at 9:22 am
What is up with all the eeyoring this morning? Who cares what the commenters at Malkin’s site think? That and $2 will buy you a cup of coffee. Since we’re taking polls about what people think will happen, I think that the Dem’s house of cards is falling fast and we need to keep the pressure on.
March 9, 2010 at 10:53 am
I’m with you AFinch. My focus in today and for the next 10 days is doing whatever I can to stop this HellCare bill.
March 9, 2010 at 11:08 am
There is a difference between eeyore’s and people who are either experiencing “battle fatigue” or discouragement. The thing is, the end is in sight NOW- The crunch time is between now and Easter. We need to take those who are suffering battle fatigue or discouragement and get them back on their feet. We can’t afford to sit down and rest now. That’s just what The One WANTS us to do. KEEP AT THOSE HOUSE MEMBERS… We’re gonna win this, but please don’t take people who are tired from fighting for the past year, or those who are discouraged at all the things they read, and discourage them more. We need every fighter we can get right now. Everyone- get back on your feet, get back on the phone and faxes, and DON’T GIVE UP. We’ll win this, but we need “all hands on board”.
March 9, 2010 at 11:47 am
Thank you KarenWI. Everyday I get up early and start my list of e-mails that I send out to try to influence these congress critters. When the time to open the switchboards comes up, I start my list of phone calls. I also e-mail the Fox shows I feel need some input and other people I think need tweaked. In the meantime, I read on my favorite sites on the internet to see what’s up. I have learned so much from Hillbuzz and a lot of numbers to call, people to e-mail, etc. comes from here.
We are determined in this house to make a difference but it is also frightening to think you are making progress only to come up against a new wall of dirty tricks being thrown out by the WeeWee House. We will do everything we can each and every day to try to change things. We were part of the Scott Brown push and were celebrating when he won. No one here is giving up and saying that Stupak and his little band maybe shifting under pressure is a true statement. Does that mean we will quit contacting him or anyone else?
No. It’s more important than ever.
Generally, the people who come here over and over do care a great deal.
March 9, 2010 at 12:02 pm
KarenWI, I second that.
The Congresscritters may indeed have stopped listening to the specific points we’re bringing forth in opposition to these bills, but that the opposition is being voiced, and loudly, is continuing to impinge on them — that can’t, I think, be doubted.
March 9, 2010 at 10:24 am
The reconciliation issue is an interesting one. As has been discussed before, actually passing any reconcilation bill seems very unlikely, especially if the house passes the Senate bill unchanged first.
I think this talk about reconcilation is really just theatre for the voters. I suspect that most Congressman who are talking about reconcilation are savy enough to know that it is a long-shot at best. But, if they sign the bill now because of the reconciliation plan, they may figure that reconciliation would give them political cover. “Oh, I tried so hard to be a good little congressman, but they FOOLED ME. Oh well, nothing I can do about it now. I didn’t want to vote for the bill that I voted for (sob, sob) so please show mercy in November”.
We need to let them know we are not fooled by this ploy and will be kicking ass and taking names if they try it.

Rush’s advice to the Dems.

March 9, 2010 at 11:51 am
I don’t think they will be able to pass the Obama bill. There’s too much in-fighting in the liberal party and the public is SQUARELY against this bill. Obama is digging a hole deeper than Carter ever did. It’s crazy.
March 9, 2010 at 12:06 pm
“It’s crazy.” Yes.
Every so often — now, for instance — the fanciful hypothesis that Obama is a deep deep double agent sent by some inner circle in the Republican Party to destroy the Democrats from within in the most insidious way possible, does begin to seem vaguely plausible.
March 9, 2010 at 3:17 pm
Well…I wouldn’t go that far. His background, upbringing (his mother is exhibit A) is he is a socialist…and a rather arrogant one at that who actually thinks he’s some kind of second coming. He’s going to be a lot more dangerous out of office than in.
March 9, 2010 at 5:45 pm
Of course, I don’t go that far — or only facetiously.
March 9, 2010 at 2:01 pm
Stupak is definitely a good choice. If you believe, as most ProLife people do, that abortion is nothing less than the murder of innocent babies, then how repulsive is it that your vote can be bought? Too me, that is the epitome of evil. That’s like saying “Well, I’m opposed to euthanizing the elderly—unless you bribe me to look the other way, of course.”
His prolife supporters have to be pretty angry at the idea that he may cave.
Another one to consider is Allen Mollohan. They just yesterday (I think) dropped the investigation into his ethics violations. In exchange for a “yes” vote, no doubt.
Is there any chance that Paterson will be the one to replace Massa? If so, maybe we can put pressure on him to get even with the Dems/Obama Admin by putting someone in who is adementaly opposed to this Healthcare Rationing/Gov take-over. If I were Gov. Paterson, I would already be looking for the most conservative Republican candidate I could find.
March 9, 2010 at 4:36 pm
Yes, it’s a sad day when someone’s supposedly deepest convictions can be bought off.
I’m one of those that believes in a woman’s right to choose;however, I don’t support government funding the choice to abort.

He may be a possibility.

From Human Events –
We are in the process of personalizing this ad for the top 10 most vulnerable Democrats. Each of our targets voted in favor of Obamacare last fall. They were each elected from conservative districts won by the McCain/Palin ticket but on average they support Pelosi’s radical agenda 77% of the time.
Every one of our targets acts like a conservative at home but votes like a liberal in Washington. They include:
Baron Hill, IN
Chris Carney, PA
Zach Space, OH
John Salazar, CO
Harry Mitchell, AZ
Gabrielle Giffords, AZ
Michael Arcuri, NY
Earl Pomeroy, ND
Alan Mollohan, WV
Thomas Perreilli, VA
Some of these are in the list above but some are additional
One not on this list that I would add is Heath Shuler, NC he’s one of the “blue dogs” who voted no before but has been silent since, he is not one to trust.

‘Last helicopter out of Saigon’…
That makes my blood run cold!
I sent this to Rush Limbaugh and I hope he talks about it.
He’s said as much ‘in theory’ many times…i.e. that because everything you DO has the potential to impact your ‘health,’ the gummint will use it as an excuse to invade and control every aspect of your life.
It must be stopped….
March 9, 2010 at 9:45 am
When we contact these vulnerable Democrats, we need to be VERY specific about what is so wrong with bill. Items like the ones found in this story should be clearly identified.
General opposition to this bill isn’t enough. Your appeal to these representatives requires that we provide blatant evidence that this bill will “fundamentally transform” this nation.
March 9, 2010 at 1:57 pm
I called six of the Stupak group at 9:15 this morning to tell them that there IS NO BILL other than the Senate bill. The Senate will never vote to exclude funding for abortion, so fixing this bill is not going to happen. So this bill has to be killed now. Stupak makes the statement that he thinks they can come up with some language that he can live with to pass this bill. My question is, can the unborn live with it?
My regret here is that I reached the offices of each Congressman this morning on the first attempt. Not one busy signal! Come on folks! Lets light up the phone lines. Contact these people and tell them to kill the bill and start over!

Looks like Orly Taitz came across BoBo defrauding social security and engaging in identity theft using social security number 042-68-4425. According to the court papers Orly filed, this number had been assigned to another individual born in 1890 and assigned in CT between 1976-1977, while Obama resided in HI and in light of the fact that Obama was never a resident of CT. Sounds like it could get interesting.

Last I heard about this story was that the claims were coming from an Obama supporter. Don’t know if this is still the case, but it’s worth confirming.
March 9, 2010 at 10:41 am
ajl-Dr. Orly’s detectives have found many many social security numbers for both of the Obama’s. Orly’s lawyer has had to go the UN for protection for the numerous death threats against Orly and her family.
March 9, 2010 at 2:14 pm
Do you think her case has a chance of making it though the court? I was baffled after I read the papers she filed. It’s like something out of a Stephen King novel. Hard to believe there is not a judge out there who has the courage or heart for our Constitution to hear this matter.
March 9, 2010 at 1:35 am
1. Brad Ellsworth (D-IN). He’s a “blue dog” democrat, prolife and voted for the House bill only after the Stupak ammendment was added. He recently announced that he is running for Bayh’s Senate seat. He was elected in 2006 in a very conservative district and it does not appear that he has been a major fundraiser in the past. The IN party machine is gearing up to raise $$$ for his senate bid–I got an invitation yesterday.
2. There do not appear to be any law firms or individuals in his top 10 donors. His No. 2 contributor was J Trockman & Sons (ph. (812) 425-5271), which appears to be a family-owned business in Evansville, IN and may respond well to this type of pressure. Law firms listed in the top 100 are: Ice Miller, LLP http://www.icemiller.com (phones Indianapolis: (317) 236-2100, D.C. (202) 824-8666, Chicago: (312) 726-1567)); Baker & Daniels, LLP http://www.bakerd.com (phones Indianapolis: 317.237.0300; Chicago: 312.212.6500; D.C.: 202.312.7440); Krieg DeVault http://www.kriegdevault.com; and Conour Law Firm http://www.conour.com, phone (888) 855-0079. Now that he is the presumed Dem nominee to fill the ballot for Bayh’s seat, it is reasonable to assume that all the big firms in Indiana will step up their fundraising efforts for him.
March 9, 2010 at 8:44 am
I’d agree Ellsworth is flipable. He’s been a party guy giving lip-service to the blue-dog background, has avoided any massive meetings during recess that could get voter anger on the local news or YouTube and doing whatever leadership asked (he was the sponsor of the watered-down wording Pelosi wanted to replace the Stupak ammendment with IIRC). But that was before he was made the default choice for the Dems to run for the seat Bayh is leaving. He wants that Senate seat too much and party leaders in the state aren’t so far-gone liberal that they would want the health care bill compounding the negatives the GOP could bring back from his time as sheriff.

Via RealClearPolitics, Jay Cost has figured out a pretty accurate listing process. He will also update lists as changes are made (go to bottom of post):
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/horseraceblog/2010/03/counting_the_heads_of_house_de_1.html
Current Categories (As of 5 PM, 3/6/10)
Democrats Who Voted Nay in November
Very Hard to Persuade: 25
Hard to Persuade: 6
Persuadable: 6
Democrats Who Voted Yea in November
Suggested Might Now Vote Nay: 12
Other Possible Stupak Democrats: 11
These are the two groups to watch. We want to make sure the “persuadable” do not change their votes, so call, email, etc.
Voted no, may be persuadable by the thugs to vote yes:
1. John Adler (NJ-3)
2. Brian Baird (WA-3)
3. John Boccieri (OH-16)
4. Bart Gordon (TN-6)
5. Suzanne Kosmas (FL-24)
6. Scott Murphy (NY-20)
Voted yes in November who have since suggested they might not be willing to sign on to a new bill:
1. Michael Arcuri (NY-24)- will vote no
2. Marion Berry (AR-1)- possible no
3. Shelley Berkley (NV-1)
4. Dennis Cardoza (CA-18)
5. Raul Grijalva (AZ-7) (Update, 3:30 PM 3/6: Or maybe not?)
6. Baron Hill (IN-9)
7. Dan Lipinski (IL-3)
8. James Oberstar (MN-8)
9. Earl Pomeroy (ND-AL)
10. Kurt Schrader (OR-5)
11. Bart Stupak (MI-1)
12. Dina Titus (NV-3)
Stupak Dems – National Right to Life score plus they signed a pro-life letter:
1. Jerry Costello (IL-12) (both)
2. Kathy Dahlkemper (PA-3) (both)
3. Joe Donnelly (IN-2) (NRLC score of 82%)
4. Steve Driehaus (OH-1) (signed letter)
5. Brad Ellsworth (IN-8) (NRLC score of 91%)
6. Paul Kanjorski (PA-11) (signed letter)
7. Marcy Kaptur (OH-9) (signed letter)
8. Dale Kildee (MI-5) (NRLC score of 87%)
9. Alan Mollohan (WV-1) (NRLC score of 97%)
10. Solomon Ortiz (TX-27) (both)
11. Nick Rahall (WV-3) (NRLC score of 97%)
Now, as Cary posts, Stupak sounds optomistic on getting an agreement on the abortion language; if that happens the 11 will probably vote yes. If it doesn’t happen (probability is very low for that – issue of trust), then no votes.
What say you, boyz? I guess for starters the best list would be the above 12.
There are some good articles at RedState on this.

From a comment at JustOneMinute
Evidently, CatholicVoteAction, thinks there are only 9 dems you need to stiffen up for the vote. Not 12. They are as follows and if these are your Congress-critters you can call them and tell them to hold firm:
Jerry Costello (IL)
(618) 233-8026
(202) 225-5661
Kathy Dahlkemper (PA)
(814) 456-2038
(202) 225-5406
Joe Donnelly (IN)
(574) 288-2780
(202) 225-3915
Steve Driehaus (OH)
(513) 684-2723
(202) 225-2216
Brad Ellsworth (IN)
(812) 465-6484
(202) 225-4636
Marcy Kaptur (OH)
(419) 259-7500
(202) 225-4146
Dale Kildee (MI)
(810) 239-1437
(202) 225-3611
Jim Oberstar (MN)
(218) 727-7474
(202) 225-6211
Charlie Wilson (OH)
(740) 376-0868
(202) 225-5705
I don’t like trying to defeat this as a single issue vote, there’s so much bad stuff in this bill to worry about, like unionizing the healthcare workforce / exploding public sector workers; huge transfer of powers to Executive Branch especially HHS / Treasury; of course costs, creating education clinics in schools with no parental rights in the bill…so much that the GOP and the media haven’t touched.
March 9, 2010 at 4:49 am
You can find some of the donors (usually corporation names) on Opensecrets.org. From there you’ll have to do searches on the companies to find out CEOs. Most of these donations come from PACs.
Sometimes there are small businesses or law firms listed.

I am glad KTrader posted Rep. Jason Altmire, D-PA’s info. Though I do not live in his district (his neighbors mine) I did call his local office. Over the weekendN on one of the Sunday talk showsN Altmire proclaimed that he may be (after having been summoned to the WH) changing his NO vote, because ‘the people in his District WANT healthcare.’. They don’t, PA 4th District is one of the most conservative suburban areas around Pittsburgh.
Any PA Buzzerz, Altmire is vulnerable…and he needs to be reminded of that.
March 9, 2010 at 7:25 am
If Stupak caves.. I think it will pass.
It looks like he will cave.
March 9, 2010 at 7:52 am
Why is everyone pinning so much on Stupak? He and his band of 40 voted for HC last November. How does voting for it again change the analysis that Pelosi still needs to swing some prior “nays” to “yeas” to get it passed? I have to believe that at least some of the Stupak 40 are regretting their previous vote. Remember, we thought HC was a done deal with the Christmas Eve vote and Hottie McAwesome put the brakes on everything. It is too early to start predicting defeat.
March 9, 2010 at 7:53 am
Well, I wouldn’t jump to that conclusion just yet. (He must have some idea that if he does, he’ll be getting the Ben Nelson treatment and then some.)
This is just a guess, of course, but with such a statement he may be trying to deflect some of the attentions the Obot base is no doubt showering him with.
March 9, 2010 at 10:08 am
He wants healthcare… just no abortion funding.
He isnt against the bill.
If the language makes him happy he and his gang will vote for it.
March 9, 2010 at 10:12 am
The “language” is whatever is currently in the senate bill. Once that passes the house, it is a done deal, it goes to Obama’s desk for signature and the House is at the mercy of the Senate to pass “side car legislation” to address any remaining issues.
March 9, 2010 at 10:27 am
Which, like I said in an earlier post, isn’t likely to happen, and they know it.
March 9, 2010 at 10:57 am
They are telling Stupak it will be fixed…afterwards.
Stupak is now saying he feels better about the legislation.
March 9, 2010 at 11:17 am
I think he is just trying to use this as cover to do what he wants to do anyway–vote for the bill. I have a hard time believing that Stupak is so dull that he still believes that Obama will fix this after the bill is signed. Think about it–these scumbags know each other well, with all the glorious scumbaggish detail to which we are not privy. Politicians are a lot of things, but naive usually isn’t one of them.
March 9, 2010 at 3:22 pm
It’s not just that…there are a lot of democrats who are waiting for the CBO score. Remember this has to go thru with the Nebraska bribe, the Louisianna bribe, Florida has a bribe giving Floridians excemption from the medicare cuts…it’s a horrible bill and they KNOW it. I truly..truly…TRULY do not think they are getting this passed. If they do it’s suicide. They might as well just blow up the Capital because they are done. Finished…caput. Voters will be OUTRAGED. They would handing the Republicans government control for the next 20 years or more!
March 9, 2010 at 4:19 pm
Does anyone know when the CBO will score it?
March 9, 2010 at 6:06 pm
What piece of legislation is waiting to be scored? The senate bill passed in December. Has that not been scored yet? Or do they have the “side car bill” drafted already?
March 9, 2010 at 8:03 am
Just discovered something when I looked up ‘Stupak’.
The word, ‘Stupak,’ has made its way into the ‘urban dictionary’ as an adjective AND a verb.
e.g. ‘Going out without sunscreen is very stupak.’

Ok, this scares me. Stupek is a stark raving mad idiot if he honestly thinks that once he votes “yes” on the senate bill, that Obama, Reid, and Pelosi are gonna stuck what he wants in an amendment bill and pass it! Just as usual…. a few dems putting on a “token protest” saying there is “no way” they’re going to vote on this; and then end up voting on it.
March 9, 2010 at 8:39 am
Sorry, this was already mentioned. I saw this first-thing this morning and went ballistic. I’m beginning to wonder if all the “protests” and the “I WILL NOT vote for..” hoopla from dems who eventually end up voting for it anyway, is just for show… to get us to relax and think it isn’t going to pass, so we don’t have to worry about it and end up doing nothing while they stick it to us.
March 9, 2010 at 3:25 pm
They’re doing it because all their constituants are yelling at them….lol. That’s why they want to pass this before Easter break because they don’t want to go back home and face the voters. If they did for it…and went home…it would be just as bad. They will not vote on the current senate bill until they get a reconciliation bill written up to guarantee the fixes and it’s IMPOSSIBLE. They can’t do it. I’m telling you..they can’t do it.

You’re welcome.
Those provisions for official visitations are sure creepy, aren’t they?
And while I’m thinking of it, I do remember reading of some incidents in the UK where if memory serves the NHS in a dispute with some families over poor medical care threatened to bring in Social Services and have the children removed from their ome. How this attempt at coercion played out I don’t know (and I haven’t any link for verification) — but the very possibility of abuse such as this shouldn’t be overlooked.

Double-cross in the making:
http://tinyurl.com/y9zjkam
March 9, 2010 at 2:15 pm
I absolutely agree with Rush that this is the end of it if the House passes the Senate bill. What I don’t agree with is that it is a double-cross. I think it is a CYA move on the part of the House and the Senate. The double-cross is to the American public. This is how I believe it will work out: The House passes the Senate bill, supposedly with a promise of a “fix” to come later; however, they know that it really isn’t going to happen. That gives them the excuse to blame the Senate for their failings. (“Had I known that the Senate wasn’t going to fix the bill, I never would have voted for it! Really!”)
The Senate, on the other hand, knows that without their fillibuster proof majority, all it takes is a “point of order” and/or endless amendments to kill the reconcilliation attempts so they have the GOP to scapegoat when their “attempt” fails.
March 9, 2010 at 4:41 pm
The only double-cross would be to the American people. Most of these jokers have been there long enough and have gone through enough legislative processes, that they’ve got to be scary dumb to think the side-car issues will be resolved in reconciliation.

Make noise people!
http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/politics/Four-big-obstacles-remain-for-Obamacare-87000027.html
House Democratic leaders concede they do not have enough support to pass President Obama’s health care package, but the party is hopeful it will come up with the 216 votes needed to pass the bill before the March 18 deadline set by the White House. But first they will have to clear a number of hurdles standing in the way of passage.
1. The Senate — Looming large in the minds of nearly every House member are the 290 or so House bills the Senate has ignored since January 2009. Many House Democrats are refusing to pass the Senate’s health care legislation without a guarantee that the Senate will take up a corrections bill using an exhaustive and potentially politically damaging parliamentary tactic that would require just 51 votes to pass it in their chamber. “There are too many deficiencies in the Senate bill for us to just go on faith,” Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-N.Y., said.
2. Pro-life Democrats — Up to a dozen Democrats, led by Rep. Bart Stupak, D-Mich., stand ready to vote against the Senate bill because of its effect on federal funding of abortion. While House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has insisted the bill does not expend taxpayer money on the procedure, Stupak and others point to provisions in the Senate bill like one that would provide funding for elective abortions by private health insurance plans that receive federal dollars. Stupak told The Examiner that Pelosi is working around the pro-life Democrats, trying to find other former “no” votes to make up the deficit, but Democratic strategist Peter Fenn said the leadership will have to find a way to win the votes of at least some pro-life Democrats. “If you lose the Stupak crowd, you are going to be in trouble,” Fenn said.
3. Fiscal moderates — As Pelosi goes fishing for new “yes” votes among the 39 Democrats who voted against the House health care bill, she may have hard time reeling anyone in. That’s because the vast majority of these lawmakers represent red districts. Seven of them won their last election by less than 5 percentage points and 14 are vulnerable freshmen. Many of these members dislike the bill’s $1 trillion cost and size. “My top concern is cost containment and delivery system reform,” Rep. Jason Altmire, D-Pa., who voted against the House health care bill, told The Examiner. “I’m going to do what’s right by my constituents and right by my district.”
4. House liberals — While it is expected that many of the 80 or so of the most liberal members of the Democratic caucus will vote for the Senate bill because it’s better than nothing, don’t rule out the possibility that at least a few of them will defect and vote down the bill because it does not include a government-run public option that was part of the House-passed version. Upon resigning from the House on Monday over sexual harassment charges, freshman Rep. Eric Massa, D-N.Y., said Democratic leaders were forcing him out because he planned to vote against the Senate bill because it did not create a European-style, single-payer system of health care delivery. “I suspect that most will fall in line and vote for it, but there may be some holdouts that we don’t know about,” said Merrill Matthews, director of the Council for Affordable Health Insurance, a research and advocacy organization.

Thanks for posting this much-needed counter balance to all the eeyore talk I’m seeing this morning. The Dems have a long way to go before this is a done deal.

It is eeyore talk!!! They are not passing this bill…lol. When Bill Kristol gets worried I will get worried and he’s not worried.

It’s too early to sit back and relax, but we need to stay focused on the task at hand — assembling the donors’ lists and hitting them instead of the congress people. The Boyz are right. The “party” doesn’t care if this group loses their seats. They care about their donors, though.

pressure of a serious nature needs to be put on Bart Stupak by any/all who live in his district. THE SENATE HAS ALREADY PASSED THIS BILL ergo, if the house passes it, the residential marxist and the lunatic speaker will have their bill, he will promptly sign it into law, and they will basically tell stupak to go fly a kite. I cannot believe stupak is dumb enough to believe they will give him an ammendment after it passes the house.
keep those cards/letters/faxes/phone calls coming… put his # on speed dial on your phone. Michelle Malkin posted his contact info this morning if you don’t have it.
March 9, 2010 at 9:33 am
The Senate knows this bill is a nightmare politically, they know the people hate this bill. So…why woulds they touch this bill with a ten foot pole. They don’t have to do anything, the bill would be passed. Any congress person voting yes is marching off the plank, as Pelosi and Obama say aloha! At this point voting yes is a matter of trust, do you think the House really trusts the Senate? I sure as hell hope not.
March 9, 2010 at 9:57 am
And if this bill were to pass, the backlash against these proponents would just come in the form of lost seats. I really think voters and constituents would make the lives of these politicians a living hell even after they are booted out.
March 9, 2010 at 3:33 pm
Yep…they’re done and they know it.

I am a voter in Texas – though not in these particular districts. I called to voice my opinion with Mr. Cuellar’s staff. Got a good grilling why my phone number didn’t match the area codes of his district! What the good golly does it matter? I still care how he votes!
March 9, 2010 at 11:22 am
fax bomb them! Fax bomb every fax machine they have.
March 9, 2010 at 12:22 pm
I don’t know whether this idea would still work with the current run of fax machines, but back in the day one trick that kept those on the other end very busy was to print say three copies of whatever letter or message was to be sent, place one in the machine in such a way that the other two copies could be taped to it forming a roll that would cycle repeatedly through.
It might not be advisable to attempt this if you’re contacting the offices of Representatives or Senators — but for e.g. law firms or especially big donors it might be just the thing to get their attention.
March 9, 2010 at 1:43 pm
I just talked to Cuellar’s office. Told them he needed to grow a pair and vote no, especially since he lied to his constituents and said he was a no vote on Cap-n-Tax and then voted yes one day later!
He is a yes vote on health care.
March 9, 2010 at 9:47 am
Ya all this is NOT going to pass and we are all going to see to it–what ever little or a lot we each can do. Don’t believe the MSM or Piglosi if they say they have the votes. Keep up the pressure and good work!
March 9, 2010 at 10:59 am
I honestly think all the “I think I’ll be voting against it” stuff is out there as a “head fake” to try to get us to lower our guard. We must keep fighting! If “we the people” speak out against this with a loud enough voice, often enough, things will happen. THIS IS AMERICA. We WILL NOT allow it to be taken over. Just don’t allow the “head fakes” to slow down the fight. Keep at those house members- don’t stop- don’t slow down.
March 9, 2010 at 11:34 am
Agreed. Smart tactical politicians are going to keep quiet about their decision until the morning of the vote. They do this when controversial measures abound.
Keeps friends close, and keeps enemies closer, when you stay “undecided” til the last minute.
March 9, 2010 at 9:59 am
guys there isn’t going to be a reconciliation—if it passes house, o-hole signs and there will be no more bills—they want to bury healthcare it is so bad for them
March 9, 2010 at 11:01 am
I agree. I think this is our “defining moment” – we must not slow down or stop between now and Easter. KEEP AT THOSE HOUSE MEMBERS! U-S-A… U-S-A… your kids are depending on you to keep fighting for America guys. This is it. The time is NOW- this is “crunch time”… increase the pressure on those house members to vote “no” NOW….
March 9, 2010 at 11:27 am
Totally Agree! Forget Reconcillation, that is just smoke and mirrors.
This is the bill and these are the votes that count. Now is the time to apply pressure. Now. Now. Now.
March 9, 2010 at 3:36 pm
The Democrats don’t trust eachother more than they distrust the Republicans. They tear eachother apart. In fact…that’s the very reason they haven’t gotten a darn thing done the entire first year they had a super majority. They can’t control their own people. So this magical notion that they are going to trust eachother and vote together is a far stretch.
March 9, 2010 at 10:02 am
We must keep pressing as if the threat of this bill passing is serious. Liberal Progressives want us to believe that it’s a done deal or even that there are not enough votes to pass. Either way, we may be letting down our guard. We must push hard knowing that we are in a fight for our country.

The Census letters are starting to roll in… here’s a great idea from Mark Krikorian @ The Corner:
“Fully one-quarter of the space on this year’s form is taken up with questions of race and ethnicity, which are clearly illegitimate and none of the government’s business (despite the New York Times’ assurances to the contrary on today’s editorial page). So until we succeed in building the needed wall of separation between race and state, I have a proposal. …
[W]e should answer Question 9 by checking the last option — “Some other race” — and writing in “American.” It’s a truthful answer but at the same time is a way for ordinary citizens to express their rejection of unconstitutional racial classification schemes. In fact, “American” was the plurality ancestry selection for respondents to the 2000 census in four states and several hundred counties.”
March 9, 2010 at 10:41 am
“Race” and “nationality” are two different things. Just ask Sebastian. No, on second thought, better not. Still, I love your “American” suggestion.
March 9, 2010 at 12:07 pm
I can’t take credit, it’s Mark Krikorian’s idea…
The point is, neither race nor ethnicity (nor ancestry), should have any bearing at all… it’s none of the Government’s business.
March 10, 2010 at 10:53 pm
So is ethnicity, but it doesn’t stop them from including things like Hispanic in those race questions. I will be answering American. They can put that in their pipes and smoke it.
March 9, 2010 at 12:18 pm
I entered “Human” for the answer to the race question. :-)
March 9, 2010 at 1:05 pm
Love it! I think I will enter “Human” also. They will probably send someone to the house to check.
March 9, 2010 at 1:30 pm
I always check other and write “human” on forms. My son is listed as human on all school records. I hope these stupid people assume he is a minority when he applies for college and give him an edge.
March 9, 2010 at 2:51 pm
You guys are AWESOME!!! Human I shall be.
March 9, 2010 at 3:38 pm
By answering the question American, it also puts the Census and US government on notice and serves as a potent reminder about who we are—citizens of this great country–and concerned voters who will never take that privilege for granted again.
March 10, 2010 at 10:55 pm
The problem with that is that they throw out answers like Human and 100 yd Dash. They treat them like a joke. They count American. It was something like 12.4 million people two censuses ago and up to 20.2 million in the last one. They count American as a political statement and it is recorded as a classification.
March 9, 2010 at 1:03 pm
That is none of the government’s business — indeed. Actually, that sentence would make a good response on the questionnaire.
March 9, 2010 at 10:41 am

Here’s some info on Paul Hodes (D- NH). He’s not running for re-election in the House, but as aspirations for the open senate position this year from vacating Judd Gregg.
He voted against TARP, but FOR the Stimulus, and as well as the health care bill in 2009. He almost ALWAYS votes party line, but this year is very vulnerable due to his senate aspirations.
Some Contributors to his Senate campaign include:
Lois Patteron (homemaker Texarkana) $4800
Cary Patterson (atty of Nix, Patterson and Roach, Texarkana) $4800
Lawrence Buttenwieser (New York self) $3500
Ben Cohen (of Ben and Jerry’s) $2000
Eric Schwartz (former managing director GOLDMAN SACHS NY NY ) $4800
EricA Schwartz (managing director GOLDMAN SACHS NY NY ) $4800
Francesca Schwartz (psychologist THE BREARLEY SCHOOL NY NY ) $4800
Karen Schwartz (self employed pyschologist Atlanta, GA) $4800
Alexander Scourby (founder Orion Seafood Portsmouth NH) $4600
Charles Selig (investor DUNE CAPITAL MANAGEMENT NY NY ) $4800
Ed Markey (D-MA) – $1000 (Markey is on the Tea Party list above)
Michael Michaud (D-ME) – $1000
Elizabeth Aitken (homemaker in Santa Ana) – $2400
Wylie Aitken (attorney – Aitken Aitken Cohn in Santa Ana, CA) $2400
The majority of his contributors are lawyers and bankers. Most have given small amounts, but there’s a ton of ones giving $4800.

Here’s some hope from my Heritage Foundation Morning Bell email:
And we haven’t even mentioned “abortion” yet, which brings us to Tawas City where Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI) hosted his own health care townhall. Now the Associated Press headline may read “Stupak: Health bill abortion fight can be resolved” but then the AP actually reports “Rep. Bart Stupak said he expects to resume talks with House leaders this week…” In other words, there is no agreement yet. And what kind of timeline is Stupak looking at for such an agreement? WJRT reports: “[Stupak]‘s confident a bill will pass sometime this year.” “Sometime this year” is a bit longer of a timeframe than the White House deadline of next Thursday. But even more importantly, look at the process Stupak suggests for final passage: “According Stupak, until the House and the Senate bills and the president’s proposals become one piece of legislation, health care will remain in limbo.” Considering that everyone agrees that abortion cannot be fixed in reconciliation, Stupak’s position is a total rejection of the White House’s current plan to have the House pass the Senate bill now on the promise that the Senate might come back and try and fix it sometime in the future. Stupak clearly wants “one piece of legislation,” and the only way to accomplish that is to scrap the current Senate bill and start over.
So – keep putting the heat on Stupak (202) 225 4735, to take this slow and to continue to push for his changes in new legislation rather than a Reconciliation after the vote. He is dealing with vipers who don’t care who they bite.
March 9, 2010 at 11:01 am
Starting today the Texas State Board of Education meets to decide what will be in our nation’s text books. You might think that the Texas Board of Education would have conservative leanings, right? Well, you’d be dead wrong. Seems that allowing the Texas Board to decide text book content for all 50 states is considerably cheaper primarily due to the savings in print costs. This board has a very long list of topics on its To Be Eliminated wish list, including: George Washington, the Founding Fathers, Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, Civil War, The Constitution, The Bill of Rights and even Daniel Boone. Wonder what’d happen in September if, on the first day of school, no kids, anywhere, show up? Think they’d get the message?
March 9, 2010 at 11:24 am
I am getting sick of the liberal agenda being forced into my kids assignments. For example, in a math assignment for my third grader’s homework yesterday he had a problem that went something like this. Chinda (Why do they use names I’ve never heard of in kids homework?) made 6 endangered species cards and sells them for $6 each. She donates the money she made from the cards equally to 4 different environmental charities. How much did she donate to each?
How did the environmentalist’s agenda end up in a 3rd grade math problem?
This is just one example, I could give you many, many others. It seems to get worse each year. It is to the point I feel that I have to “deprogram” my kids after they “study” something at school. The global warming propaganda forced on the kids is a good example of this.
March 9, 2010 at 1:13 pm
I think that I would make my child answer “she did not donate money to any environmental agency because she is a free market capitalist and is planning on expanding her business of making cards and therefore needs to reinvest any profits she makes on hiring workers so more cards could be produced and by doing this she will be contributing to the economy of the country”.
I know that during the election in 2008 my niece’s teacher asked her who her parents were voting for and since it was not the “O” since then somehow I guess my niece got dumber, but all I know is that her grades were not as high as before.
March 9, 2010 at 3:41 pm
At my neice’s school, they don’t teach the Constitution (she’s in the 5th grade), but she is learning about the Soviet constitution. As Lenin said, give me your child for 8 years and I’ll give you a Bolshevik for life. Our schools have apparently adopted that maxim.
March 9, 2010 at 3:23 pm
In Iowa they have to cut 300+ positions in the schools. Maybe if they would not get new text books every year they could keep a few more teachers.
My Iowa husband says when he was in school the books he got were quite old and beat up. They made them last many years. Now, every year they have to have brand new books because of all the indoctrination and PC changes. Gack.

Okay . . . I don’t know what to do. Does contacting a representative who doesn’t represent you really help your cause? My US Rep. is a Republican who will vote against this HellCare Bill. Does contacting anyone else do any good? Will they listen if you aren’t from their district?
March 9, 2010 at 12:12 pm
Yes!
Use a zip code from within their district on their e-forms, apologize for the little white lie you’re using to get their attention (we’re following the lead of some of the biggest liars in the land, so they’ll understand), and tell each & every one of them to reject this reckless and ill-advised legislation for the benefit of future generations. Remind them that the overwhelming majority of Americans OPPOSE the current legislation.
They can and MUST do better.
Send it to EVERYONE of them and keep sending as often as you can until they sit down to vote on this mess.
ABSOLUTELY do it!

People have to remember…they BARELY passed the bill last time thru the house. They have fewer members now. They HATE the senate bill and they are being told to walk the plank and vote yes with the PROMISE that the senate will pass a fix. They hate the senate more than they hate the republicans. The Dems trust eachother less than they trust the Republicans. If this goes past Easter and they go home they get hammered by the American public. I don’t think it will pass.
March 9, 2010 at 11:55 am
I ALWAYS check the “other” box for ethnicity/race and put “Human”
I am a member of the Human Race.
I am an American.
Anything further is NONE OF THEIR business! UGH I hate those boxes.
March 9, 2010 at 1:12 pm

But then, I hate anybody asking me personal questions, and rarely answer them.

March 9, 2010 at 12:00 pm
I think there might be some merit in trying to put pressure on John Salazar D-CO 3. His brother Ken is the Sec. of the Interior. In state politics both Salazar brothers have pawned themselves off as “moderates”. Salazar’s district is traditionally a Democrat district. However, I think with the sentiment in the country and the composition of that district, I don’t think he is 100% safe. The Republican running against him is doing so for the third time and I think he is hungry for a victory.
FYI Dick Morris has identified him as one to put pressure on as well.

Just an observation…. Growing up in New Jersey, it’s was always “What Nationality Are You”. Upon moving out west to Nevada the question has always been, “Where Are You From?”
March 9, 2010 at 12:21 pm
In my area it was always, “are you related to…?” We never talked about nationality or race or anything. We all just thought we were Americans, except for our occasional foreign visitors. Moving to the Chicago area in 1978 is when i first heard “What Nationality Are You?”
March 9, 2010 at 1:54 pm
In California (for 28 years) it was a combination of “Where you from?” and “Where did you grow up?”
Great fun, actually. Drove the “real Californians” to prideful disgust and distraction, of course. But I imagine they’re doing better these days since all of us who could found a way to GET OUT OF THERE years ago.

March 9, 2010 at 1:21 pm
That’s what I was thinking..what a waste of money..also why print it in only English and Spanish? So tired of the Spanish thing!! They are cutting our education spending in Indiana and I think they should cut out every last ESL class in the public schools…that would save money. Illegals should pay for their own tutors if they REALLY want to learn which they don’t..(most of them anyway).
March 9, 2010 at 1:28 pm
I got mine yesterday too, and I thought the same thing. Just mail the damn census, you morons!
Oh, and I AM AN AMERICAN is going on my census too.
March 9, 2010 at 5:22 pm
Just looked at a copy of my great-grandfather’s info on a census form from 1900. I’m only answering name, members in family, their ages, address and occupation of heads of household. Done. And in addition, I’ll indicate our race as “American”.
March 9, 2010 at 6:24 pm
I am filling out the census with the information that two adult citizens live here. The constitution says the census is to count people. Nothing else. I looked it up. Also, I believe Michelle Bachman told us to only give the number of people in the household.
March 9, 2010 at 10:15 pm
i thought i saw where the can fien you for each question not answered…. anyone???
March 10, 2010 at 11:58 pm
You are only required to answer the number of people who reside at your address. Anything else is extra. You _can_ answer the other questions, but you are not required to do so.

We got a ridiculous blue foam mouse pad with “United States Census 2010 It’s In OUR HANDS” printed on it sent home with my kids from school today. OT. It looks like the fraud with Obama’s Selective Service registration has been cracked — well, almost. This is an intriguing article. It is a little boring at first because it just states sequence of events but gradually, you see why it was important all the little details nad to be explained.

Had Fox on and they were showing a huge protest group in D.C. outside a hotel. I got all excited… and then I heard they were ones from the unions and ACLU FOR the healthcare. In other words, paid protesters. We need some warm bodies out in that area on the RIGHT SIDE of “we the people”. Unfortunately, I’m on the other side of the world (so to speak) in Wisconsin. Anybody in here reading this that can go out there?

These thirty Democratic Congressmen all voted for Obamacare the first time around. But Pelosi cannot count on their votes again as Obama tries to jam the bill through using reconciliation in the Senate. These members are all vulnerable and are frightened of the voter backlash their support for Obamacare has kindled.
The League of American voters is running ads in each of their districts to press them to vote no on Obamacare.
But also, pick up the phone and call these swing Congressmen. Let them hear from you! Here’s the list:

Good luck on Carol Shea-Porter. She votes 100% party line, and she’s not too keen on anyone contacting her not in her district. (I know, I’ve tried)
I’d be interested in any tales from folks who contact her, and the reaction from her staffers.

He said no no, what nation originally was I from (said in a tone that implied i would have understood if I werent so dumb) I then asked him if he meant my ethnic background and he said yes. I answered greek. Then the dumbass asked me how I was enjoying living in the states and what was greece like. sigh. dum dum dumity dum dum.

The Clintons are probably sitting together laughing their heads off right now. Bill Clinton knew how to bring people together to get things done. He knew the art of compromise. He knew how to control the far-left. Obama can’t control his own STAFF! He’s so full of himself all he cares about is his own legacy…which right now is going down as one of the worst leaders in the history of this country. He is on the brink of beating Carter and that’s a pretty pathetic record. They have had this ship for a year and it’s about to go down and they aren’t about to go down with the Captain. They will jump ship.

Changes to the bill???
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100308/ap_on_go_co/us_health_care_business
How can they just tack this on? Doesn’t this require the Senate to vote again?
March 9, 2010 at 8:18 pm
If a particular issue is not addressed in the current Senate bill, then the Senate must vote on anything that may be added to the current bill.

Thus is off the current thread, but you did bring up the Chicago/nationality thing. I used to live in Chicago and you are right! The first question any one asks you is where are you from? And then somewhere in the first paragraph everyone wants to know what your parents do….strange!

Pelosi on health care:
‘We have to pass the bill so you can find out what is in it…’
By: David Freddoso
Online Opinion Editor
WASHINGTON EXAMINER
03/09/10 4:28 PM EST
Nancy in Wonderland:
First pass the bill, then find out what’s in it.
This comes from Speaker Pelosi’s speech today before the Legislative Conference for National Association of Counties.
“You’ve heard about the controversies within the bill, the process about the bill, one or the other. But I don’t know if you have heard that it is legislation for the future, not just about health care for America, but about a healthier America, where preventive care is not something that you have to pay a deductible for or out of pocket. Prevention, prevention, prevention—it’s about diet, not diabetes. It’s going to be very, very exciting.
“But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy.”
——————————————–
Americans are precisely worried they will find out, the hard way, “what is in it,” after it’s been passed. Whence “the controversy.”

The Stimulus Bill’s Hidden Attack on What We Eat, Drink, and Smoke
by Phil Kerpen
Breitbart.com
One of the more extreme proposals floated early in the national health care debate was the idea of taxing soda and other sugary beverages. That trial balloon was almost immediately shot down by the American public, but the Obama administration is attempting to achieve, by subterfuge, soda taxes and a lot of other ways to micromanage our lives in the name of public health—whether or not ObamaCare passes. The mechanism is buried in last year’s $862-billion-and-counting stimulus bill, and works by diverting hundreds of millions of dollars that should be promoting economic growth to instead pay lobbyists to push for higher taxes and nanny-state controls over our lives.
It’s on pages 66 and 67 on the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which created a $1 billion “Prevention and Wellness Fund.” Of that, $650 million went to Kathleen Sebelius’s Department of Health and Human Services and has been used to start a new program at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) called “Communities Putting Prevention to Work” (CPPW).
Where does that giant pot of grant funding under the CPPW go? What it calls “MAPPS Interventions for Communities Putting Prevention to Work.” MAPPS stands for “Media, Access, Point of decision information, Price, and Social support/services.” In other words, strategies for changing our behavior, for social engineering on a large-scale, and, it seems, circumventing the normal democratic process. In a 14-page guidance for grant applicants, the CDC details tactics that grant applicants should include in their plans. It includes “counter-advertising” against targeted products, complete tobacco usage bans, limiting “unhealthy food availability” (the really bad stuff like “whole milk, sugar sweetened beverages, high-fat snacks”), and of course taxes (or in CDC lingo: “changing relative prices of healthy vs. unhealthy items”).
A supplemental document explains in more detail what the targets are, including restricting availability of soft drinks “in homes, schools, work sites, and communities.”
It also recommends local zoning changes to put fast food restaurants out of business, trans-fat bans, salt regulation, and food taxes. They even suggest a TV ban of sorts, recommending: “specific regulations/policies that limit television and other screen media.”
The first $120 million of funds has already been awarded to the states, and local grant recipients are expected to be announced soon. In Wisconsin, for example, we already know that the state department of health submitted a grant to use federal stimulus dollars to hire lobbyists to push for bans on flavored tobacco programs at the local level.
Although the grants under this program are supposedly restricted from funding lobbying activities, there is imply no way these objectives can be accomplished without major legislative changes at the state and local level. Our federal stimulus dollars are being used to hire lobbyists to push for these taxes, bans, restrictions, rules and regulations on what we eat, drink, smoke, and do for recreation. It’s a sweeping micromanagement of our lives that we didn’t vote for, made even worse by the fact that it’s being funded by stimulus money that was supposed to put people other than lobbyists back to work.

I have not read the rest of the comments, but in December, I wrote my Senator about this monstrosity of a health care bill. She responded to me last week:
“Thank you . . .
. . . for contacting me about health insurance reform legislation. I understand your concerns.
We in Michigan know that times are tough. Rising health care costs are making the situation worse: nearly half of home foreclosures are because of a medical crisis, and many companies, faced with skyrocketing insurance costs, have been forced to lay off workers or eliminate health coverage for their employees. Without health insurance reform, small businesses will be saddled with rising health care costs that could reach nearly $30,000 per employee in just 10 years, costing 3.5 million American jobs. That is a price that we in Michigan cannot afford to pay.
Government spending on health care is also rising at alarming rates. Medicare and Medicaid spending has gone up by $160 billion in just the last two years. Without reform, Michigan will be forced to spend up to 75% more on the state Medicaid and MIChild health programs, another cost increase we simply cannot afford.
Health insurance reform is about jobs and strengthening our economy so that we can truly compete in the global market. It’s also about lowering health care costs for families, businesses, and taxpayers.
That is why I support health insurance reform that makes health insurance affordable for families and small businesses; stops insurance company bad practices so you get what you pay for; and strengthens and protects Medicare so seniors can rely on their health insurance for years to come while reducing the federal deficit.
I will keep your views in mind as Congress moves forward with the reform effort. For more information about the health insurance reform debate, please visit my website, at http://stabenow.senate.gov/.
Thank you again for contacting me. Please do not hesitate to do so again if I can be of help to you or your family.
Sincerely,
Debbie Stabenow
United States Senator”

I was talking about the race question on the census with my husband this evening during dinner. We decided we will be putting down American for each of the 8 people in our house.
I hope a lot of people will do the same. The whole race obsession in this country needs to end. We are all Americans. It is what brings us together. The emphasis on race only serves to tear us apart. It is used by the Left to drive wedges between different people. They also use it to try to destroy those that oppose them. It is time we truly become a colorblind nation of Americans. That will never happen as long as we keep getting asked every time we turn around what race we are. It needs to stop. We as Americans need to take a stand against the racial profiling that the Left seeks to propagate.

Sarah Palin headed to Missoula for Teen Challenge fundraiser
Sarah Palin is coming to Missoula in September to fire up a fundraising campaign for Teen Challenge Montana, organizers said Tuesday.
“I thought that she was a good role model for others to stand strong when everything else is against you,” said Jan Henderson, executive director of the Teen Challenge International Pacific Northwest Centers Montana Outreach.
Teen Challenge is a faith-based nonprofit helping women 18 years and older give up things like drugs and alcohol to lead healthier lives.
Henderson said the price tag for bringing in Palin is confidential.
The speech topic, though, is on the theme Henderson admires: “Take a Stand – For God, Family and Country.” It’s one Henderson believes resonates both with the organization that serves women facing hardship and with Palin herself. The media tried to tear down her family, Henderson said, but Palin persevered.
“We admire her for that,” she said. “She just hasn’t caved. She is still standing.”
