Some of you who haven’t been following us from the beginning wonder why we don’t like Tim Russert.
The simple answer is that he was a vile, disgusting pig.
The longer answer is the way he single-mindedly, zealously, and rabidly went after Hillary Clinton during the 2008 primaries, making it his mission in life to destroy her using every sexist and misogynist angle he possibly could.
Russert had great editorial control of every segment he appeared in on the networks of NBC. Unlike some on-air personalities, Russert never read off cue cards and was not assigned any angle to push. Russert CHOSE what he said and did on the air.
From Day One in the 2008 campaign, Russert backed Dr. Utopia and made it his mission to take Hillary Clinton down.
In the leadup to the Iowa Caucus, he repeatedly tried to stoke voters to side against Clinton by replaying the Lewinsky Affair, inciting Iowans, especially, to punish Clinton for staying with her husband and saving her marriage. We can’t tell you how many houses we went to in Dubuque, Des Moines, Davenport, you name it where people cited Russert’s remarks when telling us why they didn’t want Clinton to be president: ”we don’t want that old drama back again”. The person most dredging up “that old drama” was Tim Russert.
After the Iowa Caucus, Tim Russert was the loudest voice telling Hillary Clinton “to just quit already”. He started Caucus Night and did not let up until Hera herself smote him dead several months later. Every day, this pig got on the air and told the only female candidate in history with a real chance of winning the presidency to shut her mouth, get off the stage, and get to the back of the bus.
And he did it in the most disgusting ways possible: talking about Clinton’s “cackle”, referring endlessly to her appearance, calling her haggard on days when she was campaigning her heart out across the country, working in references to every possible sexist and negative stereotype possible to bring Clinton down…you name it, Russert did it.
Frankly, it’s the WAY he did it that really made us dislike him.
His eyes were filled with such glee while attacking Clinton. He was thrilled to do it. As if he waited his whole life to destroy a woman like this. He enjoyed it the way we’ve only seen rapists in movies enjoy brutalizing women. He loved every single second of it.
MOST ESPECIALLY in one debate between Clinton and Utopia where Russert asked Clinton who the next President of Russia was going to be, once Putin stepped aside, and Clinton said “Medevedved” instead of “Dmitry Medvedev”. When Clinton stumbled over a name that’s almost impossible for any of us to say, let alone remember correctly, Russert got a satisfied look on his face like a fat, evil baby gleeful of the giant BM it just made in its industrial sized diapers. After that, Russert hammered Clinton some more, before serving up some of the sugar-coated, velvet-pillow delivered softballs the media consistently gave to Dr. Utopia, calling them “questions”. ”Do you like wearing expensive suits?”. ”What’s your favorite kind of kitten?”. ”How much do you love shopping at Whole Foods?”.
After that debate, Russert said “he’d bagged Clinton like he was reeling in a marlin”, elaborating on the fish metaphor in ways that were crude and misogynist. He, Chris Matthews, and Keith Olbermann all LOVED that one.
The three of them were the most sick, disgusting, and vile human beings on television in 2008.
We will never forget that.
Ever.
And, as we’ve said many times before about Ted Kennedy and other terrible people, just because Tim Russert is dead doesn’t retroactively make him a good person. He was a gleeful and zealous misogynist who worked overtime for Dr. Utopia. If there is indeed a Hell, we hope there was a special place reserved there for him…hopefully in “The Kennedy Wing”.
THAT’S why we don’t like Tim Russert and the networks of NBC, and never, ever will.

You said it! I, too, will never be willing to give Tim Russert a pass. He was just as bad as you described. I remember watching him (way back when I used to watch NBC & MSNBC) saying how wonderful Barry was. He didn’t even try to hide his adoration of The One – none of the big boys in the Lame Stream Media tried to present detached, neutral or even handed reporting. So let’s not call Tim or Chris or any of the others journalists.
March 2, 2010 at 12:10 pm
Katherine B.-so glad people like Tim are looking out for the best interests of the country as opposed to the best interests of themselves. I cannot think of a time Hillary or Bill did not look out for the best interests of the country. Women especially will remember the “treatment” Hillary received and now it is Sarah’s turn. I think both ladies did an excellent job of staying on point-convicted criminals treated better than they are.
March 1, 2010 at 4:55 pm
He was a total pig during the 2008 primaries. Look at that picture, no wonder he keeled over. He was one of the first to get his.
I am not sympathetic.
Paybacks a bitch.
March 1, 2010 at 7:51 pm
All that “HATIN’” is bad for the heart!
March 1, 2010 at 4:58 pm
Wow, what a vivid recollection of this man. I used to think he was the “fair” one. And I’m not even sure why. I never watched him.
Apparently he wrote a book about his dad that seemed inspirational, though I never read it. Dang, how impressional I used to be. I’m so more skeptical these days, partially due you gentlemen. Mucho gracias!
March 1, 2010 at 7:14 pm
WORD. I thought in the old days (like what 15 years ago?) WOW, somebody who puts the “feets to da fire” and was equally tough on everyone and then he started reading his press clippings and WHAP! He gets a raise, everybody on both sides lovin’ on him…Then the book..Big Russ, I’m just a guy like you (even though I make a bazillion $ a year) blah, blah, blah. Gah–enuff. Love affair was over long, long time ago.
March 1, 2010 at 4:59 pm
The only good thing about him was he banned Arianna Huffington from NBC when he was alive.
March 1, 2010 at 7:18 pm
Probably couldn’t understand what she was saying.
Before anyone flattens me for that–I’m from Texas and people have a hard time understanding what I say…sympathetic to the Big A. (sigh)
March 1, 2010 at 8:25 pm
Tell her not to talk like Zsa Zsa. I’m from Tejas too, and she’s a total ass and has lived here long enough to speak well.
March 1, 2010 at 5:05 pm
Why does everyone pretend that this guy acted neutral? Puleeeeze.
Even I remember his nasty comments about Hillary, and I thought, “Geez, what has this guy got against HER”.
And for those who think he was so “neutral”, you have to remember his past before he was a
pundit. He was chief of Staff for Patrick Moynihan(sp?).
I thought he was utterly disgusting during the Primaries. And I’m not even a Dem!
March 1, 2010 at 7:21 pm
I never thought he was neutral (in the beginning) I just thought that he was “fair” to both sides. Equally tough. But that was in a land, long, long ago and far,far away
March 1, 2010 at 5:25 pm
boy…..that sure was good…….
he was gross……..you got it just perfect!
March 1, 2010 at 6:05 pm
Whoo-Hoo, that was a grand slam Boyz!
Thanks, I needed that, yes.
March 1, 2010 at 6:09 pm
Well said . . .thanks for the post.
TR’s reputation was/is as artificially inflated as is Utopia’s. I understand his son, Luke, is following in his footsteps and is already an outspoken fanatic of Utopia’s. Watch the artificial rise of Luke Russert.
Regardless of how I felt about his misognistic core, I still did not understand the national tv coverage of his funeral.
March 1, 2010 at 6:43 pm
I agree they will keep a place warm for Luke.
His son unfortunately revealed what the Russert family believed about the masses who didn’t support Obama in a segment on live tv.
Essentially, that they were too stupid to know better and Obama supporters were better educated.
March 1, 2010 at 8:07 pm
And research studies have proven that for most people – the formal education the have, the easier they are to CON!
March 1, 2010 at 8:08 pm
“the more formal education they have” – that is.
March 1, 2010 at 6:11 pm
He was a pig and I couldn’t believe how everyone eulogized him like he was actually a professional. Puleeeze…
March 1, 2010 at 8:30 pm
Jersey PUMA in the house, and we will NEVER forget the porcine trinity: Russert, Tingly, and Ogremann. The surviving two will get theirs.

LOVED this piece, HB. Thank you!

Guys, you slammed this one out of the park. Only Chris Matthes rivels Russett for his love of Obama and it was sickening to see. I couldn’t stand this guy and even worse when he died NBC’s fawning all over him with the day to day coverage for nearly two weeks was really too much. Then when NBC gave his 20-year old son, Luke, a corner office and tried to thrust him in his father’s network seat (until the rumblings got too loud so NBC found something else for him to do, but they did give him a six figure salary), it just confirmed what I always believed–the MSM is really off its rocker.
Sorry, can’t muster all sympathy for the loss of Tim Russert.
March 1, 2010 at 6:25 pm
Wasn’t that two week dirge of sympathy the most obnoxious thing you’ve ever seen on TV???(Well, other than Obama’s endless coronation).
The media is so in love with themselves that they think it’s all about THEM.
March 1, 2010 at 6:28 pm
Agree all the way with you, Boys. Tim, Brian Williams and all other male chauvinists ganging up on Hillary during the debates, asking her first the tough gotcha questions that she smartly answered, which these juvenile males, with a wink from bho the fraud, knew he could draft off of–sickening. So many men in the media and politics are still afraid of smart, powerful women. These idiot boys have to play gang against one bullying games to “win.”
Thanks, Hillary and Sarah and Michelle Bachman, for leading the way past these immature, overpaid, cowardly blowhard males.
Go, Hillbuzz!
March 1, 2010 at 6:34 pm
10000000% agree, I will never forget how this scumbag treated Hillary, and he had not died before Sarah was the repub VP, Sarah woudl have received the same chitty disgusting sexist crap.
March 1, 2010 at 6:39 pm
I didn’t realize Tim Russet was that bad. I didn’t see him with Hillary either, so I missed his evil streak.
Have to admit, I feel kind of bad reading this. It gets so, what you think you see, is not what is really real, everyone is playing a game..very sad.
March 1, 2010 at 6:44 pm
Thank you Hill Buzz Men for posting that.
Are there also some links to Hill Buzz posts that you wrote up on that in 2008?
March 1, 2010 at 6:54 pm
Thanks for that, I understand now!
March 1, 2010 at 7:46 pm
As someone who has always followed politics, I watched MTP as often as I could. After the blowhard TR started with his shit, I stopped. I haven’t seen it since, except to watch blurbs on the internet. I don’t watch any nbc, msnbc shows either. That all ended for me about midway through the primaries when things got really ugly.
According to the ratings, I’m not the only who can’t stomach any of those pigs anymore.
March 1, 2010 at 7:59 pm
Thanks Hill Buzz. You pretty much summed it up for the Republicans and others that didn’t follow the Democratic primaries like the Hillary supporters did. That did it for me, a life long Democrat.I have never seen a candidate treated so badly ever.Even Rush was surprised at how vile the Dems and media were in attacking her.As he said the Republicans didn’t have to do a thing because the Dems were attacking her more viciously than they ever could. Then when the by laws committee gave her votes to Barky that ended it for me.I am an Indy now and will never vote party line again.
March 1, 2010 at 8:09 pm
Sorry I got off topic but I meant to say that Tim Russet was one of the earliest drum bangers for Barky and never missed an opportunity to try to rattle Hillary and throw her off her game. The only time he tripped her was the name of the Russian president and that was understandable as the guy had not been in the news that much at that time. She mispronounced his name but he made out like he she was stupid and all because he was so tough on the little woman.Yes he was one of the worst and he always was licking his lips and going in for the kill with Hillary while lobbing marsh mallow balls at Dear One.
March 1, 2010 at 8:11 pm
Maybe the Hill Buzz Men of someone can put video clips of Russert doing the big dirty deed.
I’m sure they should be on You Tube.
March 1, 2010 at 8:20 pm
They got film of him croaking?
March 1, 2010 at 11:07 pm
Of him dissing.
March 1, 2010 at 8:27 pm
I have one word. Karma.
March 1, 2010 at 9:18 pm
Karma indeed. My feelings were a little stronger, I freakin’ hated his guts.
March 1, 2010 at 8:28 pm
I have not watched NBC since 2008. I would not even watch the Olympics. The rat pack at NBC were the most ruthless, repugnant, despicable scumbags who have set a standard for bad reporting. MSM lost.
March 1, 2010 at 9:25 pm
Wow!
Mental note:
Stay on Hillbuzz’s good side.
March 1, 2010 at 10:32 pm
I’m not up to speed on half the stuff discussed herein, but I know passion and loyalty, and like both. Thus, I will defer to Hillbuzz on things I do not know, and appreciate how you guys followed up on questions from an earlier post.
March 1, 2010 at 10:57 pm
He would say “Go Bills” at the end of his MTP show and then go to Redskins park and hobnob with the rich and powerful in NBC suite. I don’t think he ever went to a Buffallo Bills game. That puton was just to keep his middle class credential – like that book he wrote about his janitor father.
March 2, 2010 at 12:13 am
I guess if there’s one thing about this Obama-nation we could all agree-on, it’s brought out all the “bastards” from both side’s Boyz, has it not? “Sorry” for the language peeps.
We know where everyone stands…No more surprises, and guess’s, and who knew! Thanks to you Hillbuzz and all the Dem’s for your cantor, and giving us Conservatives a big viral out-poring of support and setting thing’s strait.
Just like with Tim’ for me– he was a who knew! But’ yet, I do remember him being a very over zealous type and he did have that given an opportunity, I’m your guy with the big knife! We could only imagine what he would be saying in regards to Sarah about now..”
Yep, I do believe in Karma,,,I wonder if Tim ever gave-it a second thought?
March 2, 2010 at 9:18 am
Thank you for filling us in.
March 2, 2010 at 10:31 am
And not only all that—-he was so gently soft spoken giving off an air of supposed mellowness and fairness—-it’s one thing to listen to Olbermann who doesnt at all disguise his rabidity; but to clothe it in gentle demeanor is so lying. Sort of like Tom Daschle and his little soft spoken manner which cloaked a vile violent takeover of healthcare and every other thing the govt can steal from us taxpayers. I like someone to be what he is—Rush can be blustery because he IS and he doesnt care and he is not hiding a thing about his agenda….
March 2, 2010 at 12:11 pm
Yes!!! Dying does NOT make someone suddenly good! I will also remind us all that this is true for all of us … Live each day the way you want to be remembered!
March 2, 2010 at 12:13 pm
I still think if Hillary and Sarah ran together that would shake up American politics, I can’t think of a law against it. I believe that they would win by a landslide.
