A vile, disgusting pig of a man.

Some of you who haven’t been following us from the beginning wonder why we don’t like Tim Russert.

The simple answer is that he was a vile, disgusting pig.

The longer answer is the way he single-mindedly, zealously, and rabidly went after Hillary Clinton during the 2008 primaries, making it his mission in life to destroy her using every sexist and misogynist angle he possibly could.

Russert had great editorial control of every segment he appeared in on the networks of NBC.  Unlike some on-air personalities, Russert never read off cue cards and was not assigned any angle to push.  Russert CHOSE what he said and did on the air.

From Day One in the 2008 campaign, Russert backed Dr. Utopia and made it his mission to take Hillary Clinton down.

In the leadup to the Iowa Caucus, he repeatedly tried to stoke voters to side against Clinton by replaying the Lewinsky Affair, inciting Iowans, especially, to punish Clinton for staying with her husband and saving her marriage.  We can’t tell you how many houses we went to in Dubuque, Des Moines, Davenport, you name it where people cited Russert’s remarks when telling us why they didn’t want Clinton to be president:  ”we don’t want that old drama back again”.  The person most dredging up “that old drama” was Tim Russert.

After the Iowa Caucus, Tim Russert was the loudest voice telling Hillary Clinton “to just quit already”.  He started Caucus Night and did not let up until Hera herself smote him dead several months later.  Every day, this pig got on the air and told the only female candidate in history with a real chance of winning the presidency to shut her mouth, get off the stage, and get to the back of the bus.

And he did it in the most disgusting ways possible:  talking about Clinton’s “cackle”, referring endlessly to her appearance, calling her haggard on days when she was campaigning her heart out across the country, working in references to every possible sexist and negative stereotype possible to bring Clinton down…you name it, Russert did it.

Frankly, it’s the WAY he did it that really made us dislike him.

His eyes were filled with such glee while attacking Clinton.  He was thrilled to do it. As if he waited his whole life to destroy a woman like this.  He enjoyed it the way we’ve only seen rapists in movies enjoy brutalizing women.  He loved every single second of it.

MOST ESPECIALLY in one debate between Clinton and Utopia where Russert asked Clinton who the next President of Russia was going to be, once Putin stepped aside, and Clinton said “Medevedved” instead of “Dmitry Medvedev”. When Clinton stumbled over a name that’s almost impossible for any of us to say, let alone remember correctly, Russert got a satisfied look on his face like a fat, evil baby gleeful of the giant BM it just made in its industrial sized diapers.  After that, Russert hammered Clinton some more, before serving up some of the sugar-coated, velvet-pillow delivered softballs the media consistently gave to Dr. Utopia, calling them “questions”.  ”Do you like wearing expensive suits?”.  ”What’s your favorite kind of kitten?”.  ”How much do you love shopping at Whole Foods?”.

After that debate, Russert said “he’d bagged Clinton like he was reeling in a marlin”, elaborating on the fish metaphor in ways that were crude and misogynist.  He, Chris Matthews, and Keith Olbermann all LOVED that one.

The three of them were the most sick, disgusting, and vile human beings on television in 2008.

We will never forget that.

Ever.

And, as we’ve said many times before about Ted Kennedy and other terrible people, just because Tim Russert is dead doesn’t retroactively make him a good person.  He was a gleeful and zealous misogynist who worked overtime for Dr. Utopia.  If there is indeed a Hell, we hope there was a special place reserved there for him…hopefully in “The Kennedy Wing”.

THAT’S why we don’t like Tim Russert and the networks of NBC, and never, ever will.
