I’m watching the Olympic Women’s Figure Skating and it was amazing.
A young Korean girl won the gold and she was breathtaking.
Joannie Roachette from Canada won bronze. Her mother died of a heart attack last Friday after arriving in Vancouver to watch her skate. What a brave young woman to not just compete, but to win a medal! Her mom must be proud.
These Olympics started out kind of dull, but I’ve gotten into them, in spite of myself.
Some of these young people have shown incredible class.
I was so impressed with Joannie. She must be an incredibly strong women to complete so wonderfully this soon after the death of her mother. I was so happy to see that she won a medal. I am certain that her mother was there with her, giving her the strength she needed to get through the competition.
Agreed! It is heartbreaking and I pray that she receives peace over this personal tragedy. To be able to focus at this time is a tribute to her character.
The skating was thrilling! What will we do without the Olympics? I think I’ll go into a slight mourning period. Have really enjoyed all the athletes and competition. Restores faith.
How these athletes handle defeat is inspiring in these challenging times. Assess what went wrong, move on and do better next time. Winners (even in apparent defeat sometimes)!
That is so true, Moright. I admire the way they demonstrate how powerful it is to attempt, assess and learn and improve and persevere & actively try to cultivate that attitude, which isn’t something that comes naturally to me but is soooo worth learning.
I didn’t watch, but I read about her ordeal, and I have to say, being 23 also when I lost my mom a few years ago, I couldn’t even eat a bowl of cereal for days. I don’t know how she did what she did. Truly, it’s amazing. I’ll bet she was just numb, and it won’t hit her until this week. Poor thing.
I was glad the Canadian won a medal, but really felt our little 16 year old deserved the bronze. It’s just too bad her score from the short program wasn’t high enough to REALLY put her in contention.
Was the summit just a kabuki theater of the absurd? I keep hearing about the reconciliation process, the nuclear option, etc. Is this just diversion and empty threat? I just can’t imagine Nancy and Harry have enough votes for any kind of reconciliation process — if they did, they would have done it already!
I think the summit was just to cover the eventual collaspe of ObamaCare (“See? We tried to reach across the aisle but the Republicans are heartless beasts who want to toss sick people on the street!”)
And why did Obama instruct the kiddies to go back and work on areas of possible agreement? Is this guy so utterly vain and clueless?
I think reconciliation is an empty threat. Oh I think they are nuts enough to do it. But the votes aren’t there. I’ve been hearing confident bluster from the Dem leadership for a year now on health care. They are still blustering. If they had the votes, this health care summit stunt never would have happened. And nothing happened yesterday that was good. For the statists, that is. The GOP did quite well. Alexander and Ryan I saw and were fantastic. Obama wanted to strangle Ryan!!
I heard that at one point he gave Ryan the O-classic middle finger face scratch. Can anyone verify?
I read an opinion piece in the Washington Examiner saying that dems are no longer serious about healthcare, but this is about the 2010 elections. The piece speculates that the summit was a show played to the loyal dem base.
I thought he crashed and burned. Couldn’t happen to a nicer wannabe dictator. I was wrong about the Republicans’ ability/willingness to stand, speak in complete sentences and NAIL HIM! I thought they would cave. They didn’t. It was a good day and I’m glad it’s over with. I was worried about it.
David Gergin, no particular fan of Conservatism these days, stated that yesterday “was the best day the Republicans have had in years.” I know one touchdown does not usually win a game, but it’s sure a start! And Ryan was incredibly persuasive, wasn’t he?
I thought Ryan was brilliant. The only downside is that his argument can’t be boiled down into soundbites, because it is based in substance.
The comment about the old lady forced to use her dead sister’s dentures was about as ridiculous as it comes. What an embarrasement – there you are, in front of the nation, and you are talking about dental care that isn’t even covered in a healthcare plan!
The basic line of argument:
Dems – emotion, focus on pity & grievances
Reps – logic, focus on repurcussions
Dentures ARE COVERED NOW by Medicaid. And there is no provision in the Obama bill FOR DENTURES. Just more mindless robots trying to pull the wool over the eyes of the American taxpayer. Also I think Obama is despicable for his continued use of the middle finger salute –he was giving it to Ryan. POS.
Oh yeah, he did himself a huge disservice with this televised health care debacle from yesterday. He proved, beyond all doubt, that he is arrogant and supercilious and not the slightest bit interested in bipartisan reasoning together or what the American people actually WANT – he just wants to get his way because that’s what his “masters” are pushing him to do! Anyone who thinks this pinhead orchestrated his rise to the presidency is naive. People like George Soros are pulling his strings and he is their willing and complicit dupe! That’s why he believes he is made of teflon. He’s never had to struggle for anything he has “achieved”!
He looked bad. Petulant. And the Democrats looked like idiots. The Republicans came with good ideas and plans, which demonstrated on television that the President and Democrats have been lying for a year now, and a printed out copy of the ludicrous current bill (which for some reason ticked off the President). The Democrats came with anecdotal sob stories and did everything they could to avoid actually talking about the bill. The President came with a chip on his shoulder.
Kudos to John McCain for maintaining good humor while being slapped by President “I won and you didn’t.”
One of the most interesting things in observing Obama for me – contrary to how he ran as a sunny, happy healer type, he actually is quite thin skinned, grumpy and pretty much a downer overall. President Eore (sp?).
Re: McCain–it is his “respect” for the office of the POTUS. Unlike BHO who, apparently is ignorant of the proper protocol, calling senators by their first name in public.
Re: McCain. He is the older generation who does show respect to the office of the POTUS, etc. When I see a granny-type person, they are always the nicest people, genuinely (sp?) friendly and nice. Can you image what the next generation of granny-type people will be like—–nasty, entitled, etc. Scary thought!
It has nothing to do with respect for the office; during the campaign McCain spent more time attacking other Republicans than he did Obama. There are reasons why even some hard-core Republicans preferred Hillary over McCain.
The results of Obama v/s Paul Ryan
Friday, February 26, 2010 Email to a Friend ShareThis.Advertisement
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows that 23% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-three percent (43%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -20. For President Obama, the Approval Index has been lower only once (see trends).
I met Paul Ryan at a fundraiser for my state rep a couple of years ago. He lives in Janesville, WI, the next town over from me. He told the story of how his grandparents came over from Ireland & raised sheep in Footville, WI. He is very down to earth & genuine.
Wisconsin is rightly proud of our Paul Ryan today! He is a brilliant, articulate, & honorable man. What a contrast to the Arrogant One!
I heard Ryan quoted as saying he would not run for president because his kids are too small and his ego is not that big–just the kind of pres we need!
And re Obama calling the senators by their first names — he knows the protocol. His failure to observe it was intentional. It’s just like male opponents calling their female opponents “hon” or “dear.”
Agree that Obama knows protocol. He is not clueless and every action is calculated and thought out…Even his little smirk has been practiced and perfected to provoke others to want to slap him. It is designed to get to the emotional base of the opponent and away from the intellectual, logical base of the opponent.
Miss Thang was paying his/her friend Arlen Specter a compliment — imitation being the most sincere form of flattery — by following the standard he set with his disrespect towards Michele Bachmann.
I didn’t like Barry calling the the various senators and representatives by their first names either. My mom raised me to say “Mr.” or “Mrs.” or “Ms.” I had to say “sir” and “ma’am” as well.
One of the rules of thumb in public speaking is “make your points in 5 to 7″ (as in minutes).
In just over 6 minutes, Paul Ryan stated, then amplified with facts and citations, and then summarized the GOP objections to the current Health Care bill, which is a topic of daunting complexity. It was an absolutely masterful performance and unlike Dr. Utopia, I was smiling every minute as I watched and listened.
I think the Health Crime Summit proved to America that we have the most arrogant president in history right now. He just could not keep himself from reminding people that he won. He’s the president. To see the looks on his face when people said things he didn’t like was like watching a little kid making faces at his parents. Okay – not quite that bad, but he had little decorum in his manner. He just couldn’t help but offer threats and innuendo at the end. Pass my bill – or we’ll use reconciliation is basically what he said. He also basically said “You’re either with me or against me.” But he’s so incredibly arrogant that he doesn’t bother looking at his own poll numbers to find that the majority of the American people are against him.
I think he single- handedly (forget the inept Reid and the wacko Pelosi) lit the fuse attached to the dynamite that is going to blow the Democratic party apart.
I have a feeling we are going to see many more rats leaving a sinking ship before we reach November.
He answered ‘the election is over’ because he could not counter McCain’s arguments on the merits. obama does this quite often. He does not have clear, disciplined responses to legitimate criticism. He changes the subject, gives an aside as he did here, or says, that’s a legitimate point and then moves on.
Minority Whip Eric Cantor had brought the 2,000+ senate bill with him and man, did that ever piss off Obama.
He’s so thin-skinned, you can tell his temper is not far beneath the surface. A couple of times I thought he was in danger of having an on-air tantrum.
At one point, he just mentally ‘withdrew’ and called over an assistant(?) and started whispering to her, while writing (fake) notes on a piece of paper.
I think he had to do this or he would have exploded.
Sooooo – mister “cool” ain’t all that? He did look on the verge of losing it the whole time. Maybe that one-finger salute is him re-directing his “energy” – sort a release valve. Yeah. That’s the ticket.
When I hear comments like this, I think of the pictures and the differece in DC when the election was over, FILTHY, vs. when the 9-12 group left, CLEAN. The entitled attitude, someone will clean up after me, vs. each of us picking up and taking care of ourselves
I wish Senators and Congresspersons would start calling Dr. U. “Barry” in front of the cameras. It is a subtle reminder to the masses that he used to go by a different name. And O. hates it and so does Michello.
I agree completely, I woke up this morning thinking BHO is without a doubt the most arrogant and unlikable president we have ever had. My memories go back as far as JFK and can imagine none of them behaving in such a ridiculous way. The country has real issues to deal with and he does not have a clue. Arrogant and incompetent! Bring on the elections.
This is my (!) 14th president though I can’t remember Hoover, but I remember conversations about him. This is the only one that has no idea what he’s doing–unless it is to destroy the country–and he’s working on that for sure.
I agree. My ex is just like him. Took me 4 years of trying to get away from him without getting clobbered financially before I finally told him not to let the door hit him on the way out. I’d like to say the same thing to Dr. Utopia.
(I still got clobbered financially, btw. I look forward to the same treatment from Dr. U.)
I think different people took different things away from the health care summit, but I did find the proceedings to be fairly fascinating, though my opinions were largely unchanged.
Here are my primary takeaways:
1) Democrats crafted a bill in absolute private, actively refusing to allow Republicans to contribute. Now Obama wants to throw the Republicans a few bones and force them to swallow the rest of the bill. Republicans would prefer to begin negotiations again from scratch without all those pre-conceived concepts.
Conclusion: Our President is willing to negotiate with Iran without preconditions, but isn’t willing to negotiate with Republicans without preconditions.
2) When Republicans said there is a fundamental disagreement about whether Washington knows best or whether the people know best, Obama responded by writing off the criticism as capitalizing on the fact that people are angry with Washington right now.
Conclusion: The question over this entire health care debate is definitely whether or not Washington knows best, but apparently it’s not fair to question whether or not Washington knows best, because the people are angry at Washington for thinking it knows best.
“The online tool presents users with a radio show discussing political topics, to which supporters can listen live, and the phone number for that station, for when health care comes up. It also offers tips for callers and talking points on the issue.
My quick sampling produced Christian radio, a local talk station in Buffalo, and the syndicated talk shows of Dr. Laura Schlessinger and Sean Hannity — who will no doubt be thrilled with their new, liberal callers.
Supporters are then encouraged to report back on their encounters.”
Karma: I just clicked the link you provided…it had 826 responses. I think it is a very telling thing that the DOA is trying to flood the airwaves with Trolls, and think it is scary to think that there may be cadres of Acorn folk, or others of that ilk sitting home, and trying to stack the Socialized Medicine deck, in an effort to compromise what is an open exchange of ideas . The only thing I can say is that they truly are control freaks.
You know, I usually don’t listen to the radio because I can’t fast-forward through commercials. This, however, should be so very entertaining that I may have to start. Heh. Rush, Hannity, Beck and Ingram will have these idiots for lunch.
As you wished, I called WTEM sports talk radio in Washington DC.
I voiced my opinion that the Redskins should try to trade down their #4 pick for some lower first round picks. The Skins need to rebuild their O-line and this year’s draft is chock full of them.
I mean fercrisakes! They shouldn’t waste their pick on a QB. He’d get DESTROYED with that current line! Then he would need some SERIOUS health care … which doesn’t look like is going to be around anytime soon.
Oh yeah, and I dutifully blamed Bush for the health care failure AND the Redskins awful season. He’s evil, eh?
As my reward, may I have the booger that you picked on C-SPAN yesterday? I wish to bronze it.

Do I necessarily support Brown’s cloture vote on the $15B “jobs bill?” No. I didn’t like that vote. But I also realize he wasn’t the deciding vote and that it wasn’t a vote on a final bill. I’m not going nuclear “I’ve been BETRAYED!” though like my fellow righties, though. Maybe it’s because I live in Massachusetts but I knew Scott was not a mirror image of my values. I knew he would have to make some votes I don’t like to get re-elected, and I also know there is a laser-like focus on him until Utopia gives up his mad health care scheme.
The problem is some of these righties are not necessarily trolls. For some reason they attributed to Scott the mantle of Reagan like Obots thought Obama was next FDR, Lincoln, and Washington combined. I want Scott Brown to win in 2012 as well, barring a pattern of particular egregious votes in the future.
I’ll put my reputation as “Massachusetts’ most right-wing person” on the line any day of the week, but it’s going to be difficult if I have to excoriate fellow righties on a daily basis to cut out the counterproductive BS. Until the Massachusetts electorate changes, Scott is miles above anybody else we will get in a while.
Brown is a MA Republican. What exactly do people expect? If he wants to be reelected in 2 years in MA, he cannot vote with the religious right for God’s sake. Look at the big picture people! The guy single handedly derailed Obamacare! That right there is worth a dozen votes with the Dems on other issues.
So, jp, it’s not about standing up and doing what’s right, bravely facing one’s adversaries, voting one’s conscience and demonstrating one’s courage of conviction in every instance … the only thing that counts is getting reelected. You know, “winning” … as The I Won is so fond of pointing out. Good God, whatever became of American values?
Maybe his conscience is a little further left than most die-hard conservatives? Maybe his “what’s right” and yours aren’t quite the same?
“Good God, whatever became of American values?” — like there’s a single definition? I think some people were projecting onto Scott Brown a bit too much of their own politics.
Unfortunately, you are right. For nearly two hundred years, the US has supported a class of career politicians. (Since the early 1800′s) Over time, the situation has increased until today – most politicians are more concerned about hanging onto their positions than good governance. If you believe term limits will solve this problem, look again. Phoenix and Arizona have some term limits; the pols just look for the next office up when they hit the limit. A typical path is Phoenix councilman, mayor, political appointee, state office… you get the picture
I’m a registered Democrat, and I was disappointed with Scott Brown’s vote. I think that besides being truly angry with Scott, these people are letting Scott know through their unhappy and angry comments that he is being held to a higher standard based on the realization that he was elected because of voter disgust with politics as usual, and he better pay heed to them. I believe his vote showed a bit of tone deafness, and wonder why he couldn’t have least thrown his supporters a bone on this one. His vote gave the Democratic party something to crow about. It would have been better for him to have let those who supported him either financially or with their votes to at least feel that he was voting their interests. After all, as you mentioned, his vote wasn’t necessary for cloture on the jobs bill. Since his vote wasn’t anything more than possibly symbolic of how he intends to behave in the future, then maybe he should have voted no. I believe it more important on what hisa tual vote for the jobs bill will be. If he votes yes on it, then I feel sorry for him because he is now well aware of how many who supported him in his election feel. All he needed to do to keep most of his supporters happy was to vote no on cloture to show them he has heard them. Obviously, they’ll be more votes in the future in
which he could have shown some independence. It didn’t have to be shown so quickly with this particular vote.
Good. Let’s all hope he is serious about that. The last “jobs” bill was a farce which is another reason why Scott should have voted against cloture, in my opinion. In other words, the first bill was a big flop, so what makes anyone think that a second “bill” won’t be more “bull” instead? Wasteful spending takes money away from where it is really needed. It’s time politicians start controlling their addiction to spending other people’s money.
I think you are correct. I was a Hillary supporter who did not vote for Obama (going down as worst potus ever bar none). I think the Republicans are bringing new, attractive, bright, talented, honorable, hard working people to Washington-Scott Brown, Paul Ryan and others. We are a center right nation-it is the extremes of both parties that are wreaking havoc in our government. Is there a place for far right and left yes? but they are not the majority and if either does not get their way everything bogs down, nothing is fixed, solved-moved on. Obama is a perfect example of way way too far to the left and when he doesn’t get his way look at the result. He spent his first year playing Ego I am King of the World, which in a way is good, when he tries to do something he manages to screw it up, as witnessed by the nation yesterday.
I liked one of the comments – just the thing to say to people who desperately WANT socialized medicine (edited for space):
Tom in Michigan| 2.25.10 @ 8:59PM
Hello, Alan. I believe you can emigrate to the UK and become a citizen, if you wish. Here is the website with the all information you will need:
Then you can actually live in a progressive, socialist state with universal health care and all the other wonderful things we’ve been promised by the Obamaviks….This is actually a neat solution to those who may be disappointed if we don’t get health care, I’m sorry; “health insurance” reform here in The Colonies. You know, quite a few Tories returned to England during and after The Revolution rather than live in a representative republic; I’m sure with no regrets…..
After you’ve spent some time there, please contact us here again at American Spectator and, let us know your experiences, especially with the National Health whose motto is “Your health, your choices.” LOL! Did I mention George Orwell was a Brit? Cheers! Mate
Britain initiated their National Healthcare scheme in 1948. One would think that after 62 years to iron out the wrinkles, if it were workable, they’d have gotten in right by now. And with a population 20% that of the USA I just shudder to think…
On my mind is Nancy Pelosi. She actually said yesterday that this is not a healthcare bill, but a jobs bill. Something like 450,000 jobs would be created immediately and 4 MILLION more would be created over some period of time. Aren’t all those jobs government jobs and most of them are SEIU jobs? Oh gee, that won’t cost very much! Okay, so she wants to eliminate jobs in the private sector so that evil capatilists can’t make a profit and feed the economy and transfer all that to the government which we all have to pay for and which doesn’t care if we lose money as they have no profit motive to succeed. Sounds like a plan.
Also, if people are dying in the streets everyday, then why do the costs take effect immediately but the insurance coverage doesn’t happen for 4 years? By the way, all of us unintelligent Americans who have to be talked down to know that NO ONE is turned away from an emergency room if there is a real emergency. At least that’s the way it works here.
Currently there are 14.5 million health care jobs. You do the math. (Oh, and that doesn’t count all the people who would get OUT of medicine. And how are these 4.5 mil going to suddenly get qualified?)
She said that because Employment numbers tanked again yesterday and she knows people are really mad that the Dems keep hammering away at healthcare while doing little about serious job issues. This 15 bill jobs bill that just passed the senate is worthless.
They won’t ever do anything meaningful about jobs because the best thing you can do is let people keep their own money. People keep more of their own money and they spend more – at businesses. Businesses then make money and need to hire people. But the Dems in Congress and the idiot in the White House want to keep taking more money – which brings us back to the Health Crime issue. It’s a huge money grab.
melanie-you reminded me of a thought I had the other day. When large corporations purchase each other, it is a 51 (controlling interest) v/s 49 per cent. What if other than national defense our government sold everything to private industry? The terms of the deal could be: sealed bid only, a complaint form if problems (customer service) which will be acted upon immediately. If anyone got cute in a criminal way-immediately lose the contract plus prison time. In other words where feasible the private sector could work in concert with the government-with the end means if it works well the private sector could re split as 90/10 for example. The cost savings would be tremendous, plus it would create a lot of jobs in the private sector.
How does the government create jobs? By increasing spending and hiring more bureacrats or giving money to local governments to for construction projects (read temporary jobs.) Economic recovery depends on creating productive jobs – people who are building something that other people will buy. Phoenix got one of those grants and is widening 1 block of a major street. Huh? Meanwhile our water system is full of leaks; a quarter of the water is lost.
In other words, government inefficiency reigns even in its proper area of responsibility. Allowing it to interfere in other areas is a plan for disaster.
One of the the more ridiculous things that was said in the Health Summit yesterday was Obama’s claim that the government health care programs are growing at a faster rate than the private programs. He said that this was because employers were not willing to do their part and provide health insurance for their employees. But this cannot be the reason because there are no government health care programs available for working people. Believe me, if there were I would have found one by now for a relative of mine.
Did it not occur to Dear Leader that the reason any government care programs that are out there are growing is because he is ruining the economy, people are still losing jobs, then their health care.
On my mind today? A big mea culpa for having been so opposed to the ‘Pubs taking part in Miss Thang’s summit, and having gone so far as to call the offices of Bachmann, Coburn, DeMint, McConnell to tell them so.
They really let Obamabooby and co. stumble into the trap that they themselves had set.
I doubt that Pelosi’s prospects for getting the Reid bill approved as is in the House have improved as a result.
But again, here’s Hugh Hewitt’s list of contact information for key Representatives:
I have already read today that the Demobrats plan on pushing ahead with Obamascare. Let them go for it. I’d love to see how many lemmings fall off the cliff, and how many of them have an epiphany just before they’re told to jump.
I was against it to and spent a lot of time on the phone calling “Pubs” asking them not to attend. In hind sight I think it was the best thing to do. It exposed a lot of things about our Dear Leader and his henchmen.
That is a good suggestion, come Monday I think I shall call them again to tender my apology and to thank them for everything they’re doing in this hard slog.
The latest word is that Miss Thang wants the legislation wrapped up and on his/her desk by the end of March.
There are rumors flying around that Plugs Biden met with Crist at a restaurant in Miami. The Miami Herald advises that it can not confirm but, reading the Herald is like reading the NY SLIMES.
If Crist does run as an independent does that mean that George Lemieux who Crist appointed to the senate to keep his seat warm can become Dr. Utopia’s 60th vote in the senate?
The disdain these corrupt politicians have for “We the People” knows no bounds!
I live in Florida. I hope to be able to vote for Rubio come election time. Charlie Tuna is a Republican version of Obama. He blows with the wind as he tries to be everyone’s friend instead of being everyone’s leader. Pandered extraordinaire .
When I saw this story yesterday, it ticked me off. As a conservative in PA, we were expected to support a “moderate” such as Arlen Specter in 02. OK fine, he beat Toomey in the primary. But did Toomey turn around and go Indie?
Redstate is right on this, “Big Tent for me, but not for thee.”http://www.redstate.com/erick/2010/02/16/the-one-way-street/
What’s on my mind today? Well, I am livid! L.I.V.I.D.! I found at last night that the repulsive Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas is coming to Virginia and will protest near my daughter’s high school on March 8! If you do not remember who they are, let me refresh your memory. These individuals are the ones that spew anti-homosexual propaganda. This group would stand outside of the funerals of our fallen military members and hold vile signs that said “God Hates Fags” and “God hates America”. Repulsive! These people are truly the scum of the earth!
Apparently, they will be traveling throughout out city on the 8th, antagonizing our high school students (we have three high schools), all in the hopes of trying to get the children to engage them. The school administration called parents last night to inform us that security will be tightened and the group will not be allowed on school campus; however, I am appalled that this group is allowed to come within ANY distance of our children’s schools. To the children’s credit, my daughter and her friends are planning on wearing rainbow colored clothing that day to show support and solidarity for the gay community. These children are decent, loving, and thoughtful human beings – I am so proud of my daughter and her friends for taking a stand against true, vicious hate.
I truly am disgusted this morning, but I promise you, I will do what it takes to fight this. This cannot be allowed to stand – we simply cannot stand by and allow these people to spew their hate without responding to it!
An effective sign that counter demonstrators could use would be “God doesn’t hate, but Westboro Baptist Church does! What’s wrong with that picture”? Or, “If God commands us to be like Jesus, then hate is not an option”!
A co-workers BF (he’s retired) is a Harley rider. He is with a group (Patriot Riders…something like that) of fellow bikers and they ride to the places Westboro shows up at (like returning soldiers funeral processions) and they act as a physical and ‘noise’ buffer against Westboro idiots.
I agree. Reach out to them. I think they would provide protection and at least a noise barrier to that disgusting hate group. Make sure the children [and the teachers] that their objective is to get someone to push/shove them on camera. And the things they say and write on their posters are VILE, which will incite young minds and bodies to want to punch one or more of them out. Then they sue. It’s how they live. They have no “congregation”. It’s just an inbred family of lawyers. They haven’t had much success with the funerals of our fallen soldiers so I guess they are moving on to pollute our children.
I beleive the Patriot riders would protect the kids if at all possible and thrill them with their Harleys and American flags as well. They are good people. You might have to let the local law enforcement know that they are coming if they are so that you can get a permit for a counter protective protest. Law enforcement knows this group – some of them are employed in the business of law enforcement.
keparker-I’m orignally from Chicago, we had the same type of trouble with the Neo-Nazis who would come to Skokie and Lincolnwood to terrorize the Jewish people. The police would be there in force to protect the Neo-Nazis from the Chicagoans who wanted to rip their heads off. This is hard, the best thing to do is not react at all, ignore them (they hate that the most) and try to enjoy the day. Is it upsetting? Yes-a counter party away from them wouldn’t be a bad idea.
Organize with the other parents at the school, then have a large group camp out the night before, forming a huge ring around the school.
Better yet, go all “Alinsky” on them – Saul A’s premise was that if you let the opposition know ahead of time just what you were going to do, many times they would get so intimidated they would cave. Many times, Alinsky’s people didn’t have plans to really do what they threatened to do – the threat was enough to get what they wanted.
Be sure and let the Topekans know what you are planning – let them know that parents will be surrounding the school in order to protect their children; let them know that the Patriot Guard will be coming; let them know that the kids all plan on wearing rainbow-themed clothes; in other words, let them know that they don’t intimidate you.
I would bet they would back down in the face of all of that. If not, just be sure and bring lots of signs that say “God loves everyone – even those who hate their fellow man”. That oughta shut them up…..
What is interesting is they’re the same as the boy’s Simon. I’ve often wondered if the two types were put in the same room, would the chemical reacton extremes cause them all to explode into vapor.
Not that it makes anyone feel any better, but the Westboro Baptist church wouldn’t be able to actually sign on to any Baptist statement of faith. They are so far out of the mainstream of Christianity on the basics, like the nature of God. They are also made up of the preacher and his family and in laws, for the most part, and are a group of at most 60 people. They just make lots of noise and the media likes to give them a microphone because it makes Christians look stupid.
I listened to Rush while at work yesterday and cruised the web as my time permitted. The play by plays DID not do justice to actually SEEING Dear Leader in all his petulant, condescending, arrogance. Barky was a sight.
Middle finger PROMINENTLY displayed at the side of his scowling (like a snotty little kid) face. Cantor received the “Hillary” prop-up digit (ie., HOW DARE YOU bring facts before me!!! You ARE to believe what I tell you to believe). And John McCain…how incredibly IGNORANT and UGLY The Won’s reminder that HE WON and “the election is over John.”. Horrible disrespect of a Veteran, a US Senator, a fellow American. What a small, petulant child like way _resident Soetaro has.
Any pool odds on when (if ever) Utopia is again allowed off TOTUS? I am thinking maybe, just maybe the NCAA March madness might be ‘it’ but that could be a stretch (some of the participating college teams might have Med Schools associations…and that could segway into all kinds of dithering about HealthCare and if a player got injured…well, we know that his NBA chances would be gone as Barky would point out that any greedy attending physician would “amputate that foot” if an ankle was rolled.)
Epic Fail for the Lightbringer.
KTrader linked, upthread, to the audio of Beck’s show yesterday. Oh…Pat Gray (one of his sidekicks) was doing his little kid voice for the “pitiful” little kid letters Dear Leader “reads each night.” I laughed so hard I cried…”I am four years old, and I went for a haircut and a doctor cut off my eyelids instead for money!”
Sarah Palin said on Hannity yesterday that tea party activists, of which she considers herself one, need to not form a third party, but to take over one of the current political partiessince we are a two party system. Obviously, that party would be the Republican party, but it sure wouldn’t hurt to see this type of practical tea party political thinking start to manifest itself in the Demobrat party as lefties abandon it for redder third party pastures. Although unlikely due to how entrenched the lefties are in the Demobrat party, it’s nice to fantasize now and then, especially since I’m a Democrat.
There’s an article in the Wash POst today about the “coffee party” the progressive alternative to Tea Partiers. I just love how they get fawning coverage and then pride themselves on being more civil than the constantly maligned tea partiers.
I do hope these coffee partiers are Independents who just need a good Hillbuzz campaign of “Republicans aren’t as scary as you think”. I get the impression that these wonderfully “open-minded and tolerant” people just can’t get past the guns and NASCAR and whatever other cultural issues separate them from redstate America. They are afraid of losing their “cool” status if they share the same ideas. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/02/25/AR2010022505517.html
Coffee party? I’ll have to check out the article but my nose detects yet another campaign directed from above, presumably out of Axelrod’s office, or even by Obamarahma themselves.
If the suspicion is well-founded … instead of “coffee party,” why don’t we call it the “coke party” or the “snow party” in honor of all the white powder that’s gone up Miss Thang’s nose in the course of her/his life.
Yes, and thanks to Senator Harkin we now know that risk pools are inherently discriminatory. Oh the shame, we must rectify this blot on America immediately!
“While running for his Senate seat, and again while running for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1992, Harkin made statements about his military record that implied he had flown combat missions over North Vietnam. After inquiries by Barry Goldwater and The Wall Street Journal, Harkin clarified that he had flown combat air patrols and reconnaissance missions over Cuba, and had flown aircraft into and out of Vietnam, but had never flown missions in Vietnam and had never engaged enemy aircraft in combat.”
Senator Harkin is an affront to every pilot who has ever served. Why the good people of Iowa continue to reelect this lowlife remains a mystery.
Louise Slaughter didn’t tell us…but is there a line item in ObamaCare for Post Dental Grief counseling? Did girlfriend have to pay inheritance taxes on the PoliGrip? And what if ‘Dead Sister’ was a fan of “minty fresh” Polident and “live sister” is a “wintergreen” fan.
Gloria Alred is booking a flight to NY to lawyer for “live sister” and right these wrongs.
A huge concern about the government takeover of health care is whether it will cover Polident, or will people be forced to take the store brand which comes in a similar but much less presentable carton?
It is obvious where the American People stand on the used denture/store brand denture-adhesive issue.
Tona that was THE most ridiculous thing stated at the Blair House Witch Summit! Talk about a *sob* story. You fell for it??? On Twitter it was being called #Denturegate. The dems sob stories get old.
KT, I think Tona’s tongue was firmly planted in his/her cheek (UNLESS Tona has an ill-fitting, inherited or borrowed dental device) and was being ‘snarky.’
Me…I am off to read the obits…and see if I can snag some contacts lenses.
Misstrew Prezident Imm only seven mos. old but I had to wear my dead sister fetus’s(lol is that even a word) dentures cuse for my mom it was either an abortion or dentures for me plzeee help!
Wasn’t that hilarious and tragic all at the same time? Of course the problem with the denture story is that there is no dental in this health care bill. In fact, this new form of compassionate liberalism will not only make this women wear second hand dentures, she’ll be fined for not having adequate health insurance.
I thought it was ridiculous also. My mother is on Medicare and had to have new denture and Medicare doesn’t pay for it. We, her family members, had to pay for them. So, she already HAS government insurance and that isn’t covered? So what the heck was that woman talking about! Dentures are NOT covered and won’t be in the future!
And my thought was – So now we’re also supposed to pay for dental work. We pay through the nose (or mouth!) for our dental coverage and now we’re also supposed to pay for someone else’s???? Oh wait – only the VERY wealthy will be paying for it.
She is a hardcore Leftist (and a repugnant person) from Kentucky who has respresented the Rochester-Buffalo area for many years.
Folks up here could not identify her if she stood in front of them. She gets re-elected by keeping her mouth shut, and relying upon party registration advantage.
Democrats around here are not NYC Democrats, not by a long shot. They are HillBuzz Democrats. But they were born Democrats and Democrats they remain and Democrat they vote.
Better than voting for “evil” Republicans.
New York politics are so corrupt and pre-determined, someone like Slaughter can get elected in perpetuity, breaking no sweat.
A smart person with a lot of money could challenge Slaughter in a primary and win.
Wow. Well, perhaps for this election cycle [or the next one she's running for re-election] she can be primaried out using the footage of that insane and Wow. I’m sorry, I don’t know what happened to that post. It’s all discombobulated. I got a “compatability error” on my computer after I hit submit. Since it’s now gibberish – here is what I “meant” to say:

PS – and if you did not see the Obama smash mouth to McCain it is here along with a collage of what Atlas Shrugs calls “President Finger” photos [including the ones he directed toward Hillary and Sarah] they are here:
Your bashing of Rep Slaughter shows your obvious ignorance of her record and history. For most of her tenure, before the latest redistricting, she represented parts of Monroe County (suburban Republican), Wayne County (rural Republican), and Ontario County (rural Republican).
So why would all those Republicans vote for her?
Because she has earned a reputation for her dedication to constituent service. She actually cares about and helps people who have ill-fitting dentures, or any one of thousands of other problems.
Have you ever met Rep Slaughter? I have and she is definitely NOT a repugnant person. She is a very kind and helpful person. She helped my staunch Republican mother on several occasions with medicare/social security issues. She always personally returned my mother’s calls. She is the only Democrat that my mother (now deceased) ever voted for in her entire lifetime.
Tonawanda you are so right! And since it can’t stand, the Dems need an immediate amendment to Obamacare so it will, in fact, cover new and/or used dentures. Note to sobbers: make sure your stories actually relate to your legislation.
Yes, isn’t it just terrible that Rep Slaughter would bring that true story to our attention.
Here’s what Rep Slaughter said:
“I have a constituent that you won’t believe and I know you won’t, but her sister died, this poor woman had no dentures. She wore her dead sister’s teeth which of course were uncomfortable and did not fit. Do you believe that in America that’s where we would be?”
First of all, Rep Slaughter was relaying a true story. Slaughter learned of the story while in Buffalo from Dr. Lavonne Ansari of the Community Health Center of Buffalo who spoke passionately about one of her patients. Dr. Ansari and others joined Slaughter at a press conference in her Buffalo office in November. http://buffalo.bizjournals.com/buffalo/stories/2009/11/09/daily52.html
And secondly, her point was that health insurance/medicare used to cover dental, but today medicare and most health insurance does not cover dental at all, and separate dental insurance is no longer available at an affordable price. My heath insurance (BCBS) used to cover dental for an extra $20 per mo with a $100 deductible per year, but since last year they want an extra $50 per mo with a $500 deductible and they will only pay a max of $300 per year. Do the math. For $600 per year you only get a benefit of $300. Do they think we’re stupid? And for anyone who wears dentures, a new set of either upper or lower dentures costs upwards of $2000 for each.
“Dr. LaVonne Ansari, Community Health Center of Buffalo executive director, added her own tales including treating one patient who was forced to use her dead sister’s dentures because she couldn’t afford her own.”
Seems to me the woman chose to wear her dead sister’s dentures –but then low and behold she has found a free clinic/Community Health service paid for by US and apparently a dentist doing pro bono work that helped her!
Locked and loaded there are no “free dentures for all” just because we live in America! I get really tired of the Liberal Dems who think health care is a right and that the government should take care of it all which basically boils down to taxing the “rich” until there is no rich and we are all commie/socialists and nobody has any dentures—like the people you still see in eastern Europe.
The bottom line here is that in America there are oodles and oodles of ways the poor are helped by charity instead of the government and all these entitlement programs are unsustainable. I wish all the new media had been around when Medicare, Medicaid and SS had been passed since then maybe we wouldn’t be stuck with those huge entitlement programs–since they are also unsustainable and pretty soon will have to be slashed by a VERY VERY STRONG President and Congress who hopefully will rise up before it is too late!
I would love to tell kind hearted Slaughter (as you call her) there is no such thing as “free dentures for all” and TO QUIT SPENDING MY MONEY to her face! All the sob stories yesterday were just that, sob stories. The American people can not afford Slaughter’s and the Dems “Affordable Health Care Act”-(what a ludicrus name for it)
People need to start saving for their retirement and health care as well as take better care of themselves (I had a grandmother who was 96 and still had her own teeth–she was a floss Ever Ready bunny) since nobody else is going to do it for you!
And sometimes at the end of the day, you just may have no dentures and you may just die! It is called life!
Locked and Loaded Your dear Slaughter needs tossed from office after this stunt!
A House in chaos
By: Jonathan Allen
February 25, 2010 11:58 PM EST
For a few hours Thursday night, the House of Representatives was in chaos.
Shortly after dinnertime, New York Democrat Charlie Rangel emerged from his private hideaway after news broke that he would be admonished by the House ethics committee.
But reporters in the Capitol rushed right past Rangel to ask House Democratic leaders about a critical intelligence bill that had just been pulled over a torture provision. The language had been inserted in defiance of leadership by House Rules Committee Chairwoman Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.).
At the same time, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was slated to meet with leaders of the Congressional Black Caucus to try to salvage a routine $15 billion jobs bill that had turned into a piñata for progressives, the moderate Blue Dog Coalition and members of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
Any of these three issues — a floundering jobs bill, a hastily scotched intelligence authorization or an ethics committee admonishment of the powerful chairman of the tax-writing Ways and Means Committee — would qualify as a midlevel crises.
Together, these incidents illustrated a chamber in a minimeltdown near week’s end.
“It’s a mystery how that language got in there,” Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.) said of the controversial intelligence bill provision backed by Rep. Jim McDermott (D-Wash.). “I think there are a lot of issues about the drafting of the McDermott amendment.”
House leaders huddled on the floor to figure out what to do next when they realized that the language — adopted by Slaughter’s panel the day before — could kill the bill. The spot they chose was only 15 feet or so from the one in the well of the House where Rangel had just lit into ethics Chairman Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) and Jo Bonner (R-Ala.) in full view of their colleagues and the galleries above the chamber.
As the intelligence bill was melting down, word began circulating that House leaders might bypass the Rules Committee altogether on a jobs bill because members from multiple factions were threatening to vote against a rule that would allow its consideration.
Black lawmakers say the package is skimpy and Blue Dogs are upset that it would take a waiver of deficit-reduction rules to pass the House. Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Jim Oberstar (D-Minn.) objected to the apportionment of a small tranche of highway dollars in the measure.
But House leaders are nearly convinced that rank-and-file lawmakers won’t quash a jobs bill if they are faced with a vote on it. So, they began discussing whether to bring it up under suspension of the rules, which would require a two-thirds vote for passage but eliminate the sticky trick of getting the votes to allow it to be considered.
Meanwhile, Rangel dragged Lofgren and Bonner into two meetings in his private office just off the House floor. The ethics admonishment, leveled because of actions taken by Rangel’s aides, was accompanied by one for the ethics committee’s own former counsel, opening the door to the question of who is to blame if ethics rules are broken by the ethics committee itself.
After consulting with the ethics leaders, Rangel finally emerged to face the cameras, only to find print reporters sprinting past him to get the scoop on other legislative matters.
Amazingly, Rangel’s latest scandal was playing second fiddle even in his own home state, where a brouhaha continued over whether Gov. David Paterson’s administration improperly used state resources to intimidate a woman who accused a gubernatorial aide of domestic violence.
House leaders seemed likely to have at least the intelligence bill — and perhaps the jobs bill — in better position by Friday.
But for a few hours Thursday, nothing seemed to be going right.
“Can’t anybody here play this game?” joked a Democratic aide whose sense of humor remained intact.
The Community Health Center of Buffalo isn’t free and is funded by numerous community organizations. Their reduced fee program is only available to those who meet income guidelines (below poverty level) and the program does NOT cover any outside vendors, such as medical and dental labs. A dentist or doctor doing pro bono work doesn’t cost you one red cent.
Social Security and Medicare are NOT entitlement programs. Workers contribute their hard earned money into those programs for their entire working life. The reason these programs are now unsustainable is because the US government has stolen trillions of dollars from those programs and has paid none of it back. They stole the money to fund their unnecessary wars and line the pockets of their corporate cronies, all to the detriment of the American worker.
Millions of people have contributed to their retirement fund for their entire working life and believed that those funds were secure, but we know from hundreds of companies like Enron, Tyco, Global Crossing, etc., and a crashing stock market that your entire retirement fund can disappear in an instant.
You said: “And sometimes at the end of the day, you just may have no dentures and you may just die! It is called life!”
I say that’s pretty cruel and I hope karma pays you back.
L&L Read my post
1. I stated charity IS the answer not gov: so that is great the Community Center is provided by the community with pro bono physicians.
2. What do you not understand about entitlement programs? THEY ARE ALL RUN BY TAXES! Hello FICA tax!The government thinks you are too stupid to save for your own retirement so they take your money now and if you don’t croak before 65 you get it doled back to you. Frankly, I can take care of my own money and my own retirement!
Here is a list of all the SS ENTITLEMENT programs
a)Federal Old-Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance
b)Unemployment benefits
c)Temporary Assistance for Needy Families
d)Health Insurance for Aged and Disabled (Medicare)
e)Grants to States for Medical Assistance Programs (Medicaid)
f)State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP)
g)Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
The U.S. Social Security program is the largest government program in the world and the single greatest expenditure in the federal budget, with 20.8% for social security, compared to 20.5% for discretionary defense and 20.1% for Medicare/Medicaid. Social Security is currently the largest social insurance program in the U.S., constituting 37% of government expenditure and 7% of the gross domestic product
AND now Obummer and Slaughter–great name for her and the rest of the Dems—want to take more of your money since they (government) think you are too stupid to figure out our own health care. Which apparently 30 million Americans are! Plus the fact that they will be taking over another what is it 1/5 of our economy?
I find it very ironic that the Radical Libs tell all their sob denture stories since the death panels would probably nix the oldies on the dentures on their new Commie plan!
I believe in self reliance and responsibility. That is why families regardless of the “content” of the family are so very important. That is why churches and other charitable organizations are so important. If you look at the radical left which includes Obummer & his administration everything they are doing is to destroy the family and any sort of religion.
Believe me I am not depending on “karma” for my well being!
You are nice and concise in sharing your thoughts today. No more words needed. I would like to see protest signs move in that direction. Profound.
(I am complimenting here, not being sarcastic)
I always wanted to get one of those Staples “That was easy” buttons and reprogram it with that soundbite of Obama’s reaction to Kanye West: “He’s a jackass”.
Then, everytime BamBam said/did something stupid, I could just hit the button (it would get quite a workout)…
I thought the framing of this sentence is interesting:
“only 37 percent of Democrats, 63 percent of Independents and nearly 7 in 10 Republicans say the federal government poses a threat to the rights of Americans”
HaHAH! More than a third of the D’s; close to 2/3 of the I’s and 70 percent of R’s fears this government and they frame it as “only”? And they deny bias?
Good grief! No wonder FOX news beats every one of their shows in every demographic.
I really think that for every sad story presented about an American who ran up against too-high health care costs or insurance denial, equal time should be given to a story about gross *bureaucratic* negligence, irresponsibility and mistakes (not to mention a little fraud and waste for good measure) that have resulted in the suffering and even the deaths of Americans. There are millions of delightful tales to be told (we have a couple ourselves).
I also think there should be stories of personal responsibility and preventive health choices. How many of these sob stories actually took care of themselves i.e. diet, exercise, smoking, weight??? So much of poor health can be prevented. So much about life is a string of choices.
All the sad stories get so ridiculous. To begin with, we don’t need to be lectured with examples of the struggles Americans go thru. We pretty much live them everyday.
But mostly they make our lawmakers look so elitist, so out of touch, it’s insulting. “I know a woman who walks 5 miles in the snow barefoot..” Well, did you offer her a ride? Of course not, you probably backed over her foot so you could win the sob story contest. “I know a woman with a broken foot who walks five miles in the snow bare foot..”
It has also been proven on a few occasions, these sob stories were false. Michelle Malkin documented one out of Oregon that Nicholas Kristof used in a NY Times column. They are sometimes exaggerated or made up for PR purposes, “health care concern trolling” so to speak.
Absolutely! My sister-in-law and her daughter got excellent care when they needed it. She was abandoned by her ex after she got pregnant (Yes-they were married prior to pregnancy. Contraceptives don’t always work), and uninsured. There are a few docs who actually care about patients – which is why most of them go into medicine in the first place (duh!).
Also, the misuse and abuse of the ER. That is NEVER reported, its costs taxpayers and those with insurance higher premiums to cover the cost of uncompensated care.
Many of the ER visits are non-emergency such as coming in for a cold, and seeking prescription drugs. If anyone has family or friends that works in the ER, this is a common fact. Medicare pays for all ER visits, and its coming out of pockets.
We were recently looking for new insurance and one company, who only operates in Alabama, actually told us to be sure and go to an ER if we got sick out of state. Uh – the reason we get insurance is so we DON’T have to wait for hours at an ER for non-emergency treatment. They didn’t get the contract. But this shows how onerous the current insurance-by-state system has become.
Use and Misuse of ER’s…I worked for a visiting nurse company that had 3 clinics in 3 low-income areas. They had docs and nurse practitioners there. They worked on a sliding scale earnings basis. If you could pay $5, ok. If not, they served the public for free. They raised money for this in the private sector and were very successful at it.
Interestingly, despite the advertising in papers, on radio, in churches, and mailings, the place was generally empty any time I went there. They provided vacinations, pediatric care, geriatric care, and all general practice medicine. But that population went to the ER whenever they were ill with the flu, or the children had mumps, whatever. Those that used the clinics loved the service and having “their own doctors” but some people just can’t change. I don’t think this will change until ER’s turn them away to the various clinics all over those cities.
Middle of the night is different as it is for most people who can’t get ahold of their docs at 2 AM.
Yesterday in Obama’s closing statement he related this proposed Health Insurance Exchange to Walmart. I couldn’t believe my ears…he said like Walmart can get the best deal from the suppliers so they can offer lower prices, the gov’t exchange will work the same way.
Two things came to mind…1. I dunno, something about thinking of a Gov’t run entity as a giant Walmart doesn’t seem right.
2. If there is one thing I would not like to get at a discount warehouse, it would have to do with health care. If there was EVER a product that you want to get the best possible quality (over price) it’s health care right?
3. He even said how mom and pop stores can’t compete with the Walmarts of the world. HELLO??? I thought the liberal Democrats of the world HATED Walmart for that very reason!? How did THEY feel about these remarks?
Overall, I think he sounds like an arrogant prick. When he responded to Mitch McConnell’s comment about the time given to the Dems vs. the Reps, he said “well, I took more time, but I’m the President”. Can you imagine what would have happened if W had EVER said anything like that? OMG, the libs would have gone nuts! What an a-hole that guy is.
Wasn’t that ridiculous? I can hardly wait to get my cheap imported health insurance from the Wal Mart exchange. Hopefully it will be better then the toaster I bought that tried to burn my house down.
So I went to the Organizing for America website where they are telling their “followers” to call talk radio stations with their health care talking points (listed of course on the website).
The website gives you suggestions of radio stations to call and I clicked on the radio station that popped up It allows you to listen to the station through the OFA site and I’m currently listening to talk about growing great lawns and having a great garden.
ROFL! I’d LOVE to hear Obama talking points on this Lawn and Garden show!!
It’s because they screen their calls for Trolls and won’t let them on the air unless they can use the troll to illustrate a point.I am sure the Libs are going for less-savvy talk shows.
(sarc on, referencing Glenn Beck yesterday)
I sure hope some of the fictional children who write letters to the president about their dire situations call talk radio hosts today.
I can hear it now:
Dear Mr. Talk Radio Host, I am only 7 months old and the evil doctors stole my tonsils and feet for profit…
Oblather’s Personal Slush Fund or Your Tax Dollars at Work. Remember Gerald Walpin, the old guy that had the temerity to do his job, so threw him off a cliff when he investigated this kind of corruption?
Just watched this video of BO speaking of insurance companies.
He proves that he is still as dumb as when he was just out of college.
Can’t tell the difference between auto ins. coverage then or NOW!
And tries to draw a parallel between auto ins. and health ins.
It is ALL EVIL! (So he tries to imply): http://hotair.com/archives/2010/02/26/obamateurism-of-the-day-218/
Mr. president, get a clue. You are continuing to make a fool of yourself for all to see. The country and the world is laughing at you.
When do you shift into your super-smart mode and dazzle us all?
Great news for the Bible-clutchin’, gun-totin’, Nascar lovin’ yokels in NC! /s
Seriously, this will be a huge event and an excellent photo op for Sarah.
I bet the turnout will be visible from space!
BTW, the convention is May 14 thru 16 in Charlotte.
It’s so sad that there is still that “us” and “them” mentality in the Senate. Instead of realizing that all senators were voted in by all the states, they break down into D and R and can’t seem to blend at all. I am not sure who said it, if it was Harry Reid, or BO, but he said to the republicans sitting there “You people”. That shows there is no “we” at all, no coming together, just two groups who are against each other and do not understand they should be working together for a common good. I was offended by that language “you people” and the democrats really did not want any ideas coming from the other side, it was all just some staged event.
I was also offended when Obama said to John McCain in a scoulding voice, We are not in campaign mode, the election is over. Obama has been in campaign mode since Day One and has never gotten out of it. Considering all the slurs against them, I think the republicans handled themselves pretty well when up against the King and Queen (Obama, Pelosi) and the Court Jester (Harry Reid).
Great American Thinker article “Powerless Against Palin”:
“For Democrats, it is, literally, the Fear That Dare Note Speak Its Name, the fear that Sarah Palin could indeed be elected president and that there is nothing they can do about it.”
At a lunch the other day, one of my more educated neighbors let me know that she “hated” Palin. I asked why. “Because she’s so stupid.” Really? In what way? How is it that you feel that way?
“Because.” “She just doesn’t know anything about anything.”
I said, in my most sarcastic tone, “Well, you certainly can’t argue with THAT logic.”
And she seemed happy with that answer!!! The rest of the table just looked at her blankly. Like they couldn’t believe she had just been tweaked and she was thinking that she won the argument. Sigh.
Uphill battle folks. But “I think I can…I think I can…I think I can”…
And we will…and we will…and we will. Sarah Palin will be elected first female President of the United States of America in 2012 and the man-child Barack Hussein Obama, with his head hung low and his tail between his legs as he leaves the White House only to go into obscurity.
I think that someone’s head is gonna end up on a platter because of this stunt. It was intended to be a moment of humiliation for the GOP, but with all due respect to them, the GOP came out firing and that’s the kind of fire I want to see. It’s time to stop taking it in the shorts and time to go on offense. This entire event showcased how petty, arrogant, and childish the POTUS is. I am especially incensed when he said that the democrats will have to make the decision to ram this legislation through and let the voters make the choice in November. Of course, he’s going to let others get reamed, but even more importantly, he recognizes that once this legislation is in place, even a drastic change in Congress isn’t going to reverse it. I haven’t seen one entitlement program that was actually removed. I would like to be proved wrong.
Bill- Duh Hope the Democrats are bright enough and more importantly patriotic enough to vote against Obama’s plan from hell.
“I am especially incensed when he said that the democrats will have to make the decision to ram this legislation through and let the voters make the choice in November. Of course, he’s going to let others get reamed”
You may be correct about heads rolling. Although, based on past performance, even WE conservatives/Repubs thought the Repubs would be up there whining or rolling over. They surprised us! I would have thought that the locals in DC would have caught wind of the Republicans gathering actual evidence and thoughtful rebuttal. Guess they were just expecting a repeat performance, too. BURN!
There are even commentators (can’t recall who right now) who suggest that the ‘Pubs deliberately flubbed the last get-together in order to lull Miss Thang into a false sense of confidence.
I actually see hope in this one getting repealed once the balance of power shifts. The accounting trick the Dems used to make it seem less expensive means that we’ll be paying for it for a few years before it actually starts — that is also it’s biggest weakness in terms of repealability. The problem with getting rid of entitlement programs is that people become dependent on them; even if we can’t get the votes to repeal this until President Palin’s first term, no one will have yet become dependent on it, and the “well, we’ve paid for it, we may as well get it” argument can be defused by immediately getting rid of the Deathcare taxes and putting the money already collected toward paying down the debt (or something).
I think it was on Beck’s radio show yesterday, they were talking about this “what’s your political bent” quiz he gave to a group of people recently. There were 50 questions, all with 4 multiple-choice answers, and the only one that was answered unanimously was, basically, “Are you willing to make the hard choices, to pay the piper, as it were, if it means that America comes out stronger for it?” People know that hard times are coming, harder times than even now, and most are willing to bring it on and get it over with. That, coupled with the fact that approval of RationCare has dipped from 30% to 25%, tells me that repealing it would be met with a resounding cheer.
Obama’s behavior yesterday would have had my 6th grade teacher, Sister Agnes, walking down that aisle and smacking him on the back of the head. He was arrogant, rude, and mean. He was so full of himself that I thought he’d explode. His body language and facial tics alternated between Mussolini’s chin in the air, and foreboding rage.
That was no “meeting” – it was command to attend in order to be re-educated by the great and powerful wizard or be humiliated by him. Every time the R’s brought up issues in the D’s bill that they could NOT incorporate, he interrupted them to tell them that he’d rather discuss what the DID agree on. So I gather that the talking points were already written for the media and the reeducation of the public “The R’s have “admitted” that they agree with most of the bill, but they STILL won’t vote for it because they are MEAN and PETTY and EAT PUPPY DOGS for breakfast…clearly the party of NO.” Well, I watched most of it and I came away feeling that the R’s were prepared with facts and ready to work. I prefer to call them The Party of Know. As opposed to the D’s that came to the table with sob story after sob story instead of FACTS.
Not one of them talked about how much better the health care in America will be in quality and quantity if the “reform” bill passed. Nor did they talk about how much cheaper it will be for ALL Americans. So I call them The Party of Snow-jobs. And the bottom line, as Obama lowered the boom – “Come to Jesus or we will pass it anyway with reconciliation”. So, was it a “constructive” meeting where all were allowed to “put their ideas on the table”? Don’t make me smirk. He is a prideful haughty boorish putz and he couldn’t hide it for a moment. His treatment of McCain was deplorable. I have never seen such disrespect “out loud and in public”. Disgraceful.
Here is Ronald Reagan [circa 1961] on Socialized Medicine as a tool for more government control and socialism. And here we are 50 years later having the same damn argument. Guess what Reagan asks people to do? Contact your representatives. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYrlDlrLDSQ
They not only held their fire, but if you watched to the end, they picked up their trash and papers before they left. Ha! They were respectful and informative. Just what we want from our representatives. Not the whiney snits we got from the other side.
Whoops – that reply should have been to Emma. I’m just a mess today. I’ll blame it on the 4th blizzard in 2 months keeping me up all night with the howling winds.
I am so grateful that not one of the Republicans unwisely “responded in kind” with any sarcasm or off-target comments that could have easily been made under pressure and would have become the lead item on all the MSM evening news reports. They behaved like adults and just let the nasty little boy wee-wee himself all day.
PS – and if you did not see the Obama smash mouth to McCain it is here along with a collage of what Atlas Shrugs calls “President Finger” photos [including the ones he directed toward Hillary and Sarah] they are here:
Did you read that Dear Leader spoke for about exactly 1/3 of the time. Anyone have the exact number of people who were around that table. So what % of the time did one man get? Apparently Dr. U does not believe in “separate but equal branches of government” His position is no more or less important when it comes to legislation than any one congressman.
The Opening Pearl from “Plugs” yesterday:
“I think it requires a little bit of humility to be able to know what the American people think, and I don’t. I can’t swear I do. I know what I think. I think I know what they think, but I’m not sure what they think.”
How does he keep topping himself?
Obama is such an idiot. Poll after poll, demonstrations, town hall meetings, 9/12 March and he still doesn’t know that the American people screamed that they hate this bill and most everything coming out of his administration. Is it possible he is functionally illiterate? Obama does not read, cannot comprehend, does not listen. I suppose if his teleprompter doesn’t instruct him, he does not know what he thinks. His poll numbers are terrible, worst descent ever for a potus and he presumes to think the American people are happy with him and his regime.
Oh, dear. You put it into words: “Is it possible he is functionally illiterate?” And the second I read your query, I knew it couldn’t be completely dismissed as a possibility.

I posted the Paul Ryan smackdown on my FB page and one of my liberal (lawyer) friends wrote (to my comment attached…This guy is no dummy)…
“Of course he is no dummy — as a member of Congress, he has the best health insuramce in the country at our expense. Why should he care about those without insurance?”
To which I replied…
“Well the presdient equated a gov’t health insurance exchange to a Walmart where you can get poor quality health insurance at a discount. He doesn’t seem all to concerned either.”
What fun. He trashes flyover country gun owners. Then he trashes Las Vegas–twice. Now he has done it! He has trashed WalMart and everyone who shops there and I guess also the Chinese–since everything for sale at Wally World is from China.
“he has the best health insuramce in the country at our expense.”
C’Mon Man! Enuff is frickin’ enuff! I am so damned sick and tired of all ya’ll talkin w/o even trying to ascertain the FACTS. ALL of the Senators and Representatives are considered full-time employees of the Federal government just as I was. They pay thru the nose for their health care insurance it isn’t given to them free of charge. Neither was mine. In fact, after 7 years of retirement (you know that supposed “Golden Parachute” all Federal employees are ‘SUPPOSED” to have) my wife and I (neither of us work – yet!) still pay almost $600/month for our health insurance. Hardly a free ride and we sure as hell ain’t on the ‘dole’ as so many of you youngsters seem to ‘think(?)’. I paid for our insurance every paycheck for 35 years in service.
I PAID (and so do ALL Reps and Sens) for my Civil Service Retirement to the tune of the maximum I could invest, 7% of my gross income every paycheck. For which I received 3% on my investment from the Federal Government. This for 35 years. They (Reps and Sens) can invest slightly more and can receive a quicker payback but hardly a ‘freebie’ as so many would suggest.
I PAID (read invested in) as well, for my Social Security ever since I was 11 years old. Don’t tell me that’s an entitlement! I worked and PAID for it and during all that time only got 2% return on my non-voluntary contributions. That at a time when I could have sat back and got 4-5% in Money Markets. So I’m way behind the power curve. I’m all for privatization as you youngsters ought to be, Liberal or Conservative. And I still pay income tax on my SS.
Medicare – I paid 2.7% of my gross income every month ever since it came into effect in 1965. Medicare – bought and paid for. Not an entitlement! Medicaid – Main area of abuse in the program. Illegal immigrants are kicking our asses in this program. Needs major revisions and overhaul.
OBTW:
Wal-Mart employees (have several in the family and extended family) have a better health insurance/care program than I do. It is anything but ‘poor quality’. Just another attack on Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club because they resist unionization for so long and so well.
Frank Lunz did a focus group after the health care synposium and had a mixture of D’s and R’s. 3 people wanted the bill to go ahead as discussed, but all the rest said NO, start from scratch. They did not want our country to be in extreme debt. All hard-working Americans are worried about the extreme deficit/debt, unlike our leaders who think all they have to do is print more money and it’s all okay. It’s like a rich kid thinking that Daddy will just write a blank check and pay for the mistakes. In this case, Daddy is the U.S. taxpayers, and we are fed up with it all! People are paying attention to what is going on, unlike our leaders who are still not listening to the public. The democrats feel they HAVE to come up with a bill before this mid-term election. They are wrong. They need to do something good, not give us another mess. A big mess of a bill will not cut it with the American people. But Obie, Nancy and Harry still have noy gotten the message.
Democrats have just extended the Patriot Act. You would think I would be used to the hypocrisy by now, but weren’t the Patriot Acts supposed to be bad, Worst Thing Ever, under Bush’s watch?
Am I overanalysing this? Obama seemed to get a little bit giggly when he used the phrase “rear-ended” while he was rambling on about ACME car insurance.
Ordinarily I wouldn’t pay much mind to this but I keep remembering all the stories about his jaunts to Men’s Country that the guys keep mentioning.
the False Messiah was so arrogant and mean to senator McCain when he practically told him to shut up because he WON and is the president now. The sad thing was McCain reaction…McCain is soooo freakin WEAK!
I can’t wait for Sarah Palin to put this arrogant evil man in his place!!!! God make it happen!!!
McCain is from the days when you were still friends with people across the aisle. That just isn’t so anymore and trying to deal with a president who has no wish to be civil or respectful of his opponents by being kind is ludicrous. I’m not saying McCain should be equally as ignorant, but he doesn’t understand that him making excuses just make Dr. U think he is even more fabulous than he thought he was.
McCain is a classy dude and loves his country and is probably quite alarmed at all of the bad feeling that is going on, and is just trying to be a calming influence. Boy things are getting nasty out there and it’s a little unnerving. Who knew Mr. Uniter would be so divisive?
To get away from the pundits for while, I have been watching a Canadian TV series called Due South that ran from 1997-1999. It stars a guy called Paul Gross. There is no cussing, no blood and guts and no political agenda. The hero is a RCMP (Mountie) who is transferred to the Canadian embassy in Chicago, He has a wolf companion who has made the trip with him. There are good outside shots of Chicago scenery and beautiful wilderness shots. It’s just a fun series and a no-brainer.
Last month I rented another Canadian series called Slings and Arrows also starring Paul Gross. It was very good and I learned a lot about Shakespeare. This one ran from 2003-2006 and is about a production company in Canada and its efforts to promote the Bard. Both of these are comedy-dramas.
Netflix is a great source for all of these great dvd’s. Once you are signed up to Netflix, you can watch instant view movies, TV series, etc. without costing extra. My husband has been watching episodes of the Rockford Files recently.
I thought Slings and Arrows was great with a stellar cast and I really like the main actor. I read Shakespeare in high school and college and since, but I’ve never really seen a performance other than in movies or on tv. That show was just so good.
I saw this other series with Paull Gross and decided to go for it. It is a cop buddy show since he befriends a Chicago cop and they get into all sorts of misadventures along with Deifenbaker, the wolf. It’s just a real fun series. I pass the discs on to a friend who watches them before I send them back and her family is enjoying them also.
Paul has a movie called “Men with Brooms” that came out several years ago about the sport of
Curling. Leslie Nielson was also in the movie. As I watched Curling on the Olympics this year, I remenbered the movie fondly. I used to work for a Canadian based company and all of those guys loved Curling.
I’m listening to Governor Patterson give a speech about ending his campaign for a full term for governor. He says he cannot run for office and campaign at the same time.
The last hit he got was that it was reported that his aide hit his girlfriend and Patterson spoke to the woman to ask her to forgive him. Unethical? It depends on what he said and if there was any pressure put on her or if there was any offer of something for her forgiveness. The aide has been his friend for many years and he knew the couple well. Illegal? Absoltuely not. The aide had not been charged with anything. It was Patterson who called Cuomo to start an investigation so he can be cleared of what the media charges him with “Abuse of his office”.
He’s listing all of his accomplishments.
This is sad. I feel bad for him. He has no real political skills for this day and age, and he came to the job with baggage [him cheating on his wife and his wife cheating on him] but the way Obama disrespected him a few months ago – demanding that he step aside for Cuomo and then telling him who to choose to finish Hillary’s senate term [Ms. Kennedy] was just awful. He stood up to Obama. He stood up to that crazy bunch of corrupt pols in Albany cutting the budget and calling them out on perks for themselves. So, as Shep on FOX just said…”they crushed him like a bug”.
I appreciate your compassion for the gov but IMHO he’s just another ineffective unqualified affirmative action shyster and I don’t feel the slightest bit sorry for him.
He used the race card whenever it suited him and he’s just another BS artist.
Glad he stood in camerot’s way but no tears here.
I just wonder who will take his place if he resigns. He was the lieutenant Gov before Spitz self-destructed. (Although I think I remember him appointing someone to the position a few months back over the howling horde in the legislature.)
Albany, NY – After a tough legal battle last year, a court ruled the Governor of New York did have the power to appoint a lieutenant governor without any say from the State Senate or Assembly.
In July, Richard Ravitch was put in place as the Lieutenant Governor to break any ties in the State Senate. But if speculation that Paterson will leave office turns out to be true, Ravitch, who was not elected, will become governor
Yikes – 2 unelected governors in as many years!! I wonder if it would be better for NY’ers if Patterson resigned or stayed on until the election, if he can.
I know how you feel about Patterson. So many NY’ers do feel like they have been cheated by so many pols. And they have. Including Patterson. But I still feel sorry for anyone who is found by Obama to be “inconvenient” “in the way” or “embarrassing to him”. Patterson began to be the “family joke” right after he refused Obama’s offer to “step aside”. He wasn’t prepared for the machine to run over him. The position of LT. Governor for any state should not be political. It should be an elected position independent of the governor’s campaign so the voters have a chance to have the person vetted and they have a choice of who they want should anything happen to the governor.
I always gotta a kick out of Patterson, can’t help it. He was refreshing, and had backbone, and really did stick it to people who tried to bully him. This latest scandal is odd to me, don’t know the details, it’s too sordid and I don’t care. It doesn’t sound like anything illegal was done by Patterson, whatever. Apparently he had problems balancing the budget, yadda yadda. And yes, now we get to have yet another Govenor. Well, the third time’s a charm.
I heard Governor Patterson talking on Hannity. I was really impressed. I have not heard this man talk. He sounded very nice, articulate and with a clean nice voice. Not like Obama and his emm emm emm or the “Negro dialect” of Al Shrampton! LOL
Gov Paterson might be a corrupt and dirty but he is a smooth communicator!
Via the Corner at National Review, I just came across this interesting story — a rather transparent attempt on the part of the Democrats to gain more safe seats in the House and probably in the Senate as well:
The donkeys have certainly been busy fomenting invidious distinctions lately, what with their Native Hawaiians bill and now undertaking this effort without seeming to care at all about the language question that is involved.
Walmart quality healthcare. Yikes. I am not a wealthy person, but I do not go to Walmart, because whenever I have shopped there the stuff fell apart. Yes I will say it. At this point in time, Walmart is just Not Good Enough for Li’l Ole Me! I expect decent stuff, cause I live in the Freakin’ USA people! And so, crappy healthcare is not attractive to me, and it’s not gonna be free ’cause taxes are gonna go up. Will Obama and his family be going to Walmart Quality Healthcare clinics? Methinks not. Will members of Congress be getting Walmart Care? Methinks not. But we are! Yay!
Yes, it’s always interesting when a academic socialist marxist type, who’s never made any money at a real job, lectures people about economics and supply and demand.

February 26, 2010 at 12:26 am
I was glad Joannie won a medal…
February 26, 2010 at 1:15 am
I was so impressed with Joannie. She must be an incredibly strong women to complete so wonderfully this soon after the death of her mother. I was so happy to see that she won a medal. I am certain that her mother was there with her, giving her the strength she needed to get through the competition.
February 26, 2010 at 10:58 am
Agreed! It is heartbreaking and I pray that she receives peace over this personal tragedy. To be able to focus at this time is a tribute to her character.
February 26, 2010 at 1:27 am
The skating was thrilling! What will we do without the Olympics? I think I’ll go into a slight mourning period. Have really enjoyed all the athletes and competition. Restores faith.
How these athletes handle defeat is inspiring in these challenging times. Assess what went wrong, move on and do better next time. Winners (even in apparent defeat sometimes)!
February 26, 2010 at 9:29 am
That is so true, Moright. I admire the way they demonstrate how powerful it is to attempt, assess and learn and improve and persevere & actively try to cultivate that attitude, which isn’t something that comes naturally to me but is soooo worth learning.
February 26, 2010 at 4:22 am
I didn’t watch, but I read about her ordeal, and I have to say, being 23 also when I lost my mom a few years ago, I couldn’t even eat a bowl of cereal for days. I don’t know how she did what she did. Truly, it’s amazing. I’ll bet she was just numb, and it won’t hit her until this week. Poor thing.
February 26, 2010 at 11:37 am
I was glad the Canadian won a medal, but really felt our little 16 year old deserved the bronze. It’s just too bad her score from the short program wasn’t high enough to REALLY put her in contention.
February 26, 2010 at 12:29 am
What do you guys think? Did Obama hang himself with his brainstorm to hold the Health Care Summit?
February 26, 2010 at 12:49 am
Just proved what an absolute idiotic moron he really is…
February 26, 2010 at 2:46 am
February 26, 2010 at 9:32 am
erm….
February 26, 2010 at 4:23 am
Enough rope…
February 26, 2010 at 8:00 am
I think reconciliation is an empty threat. Oh I think they are nuts enough to do it. But the votes aren’t there. I’ve been hearing confident bluster from the Dem leadership for a year now on health care. They are still blustering. If they had the votes, this health care summit stunt never would have happened. And nothing happened yesterday that was good. For the statists, that is. The GOP did quite well. Alexander and Ryan I saw and were fantastic. Obama wanted to strangle Ryan!!
February 26, 2010 at 8:27 am
Yes, some people think that the “threat” of reconciliation is just show for the Daily Kos types.
February 26, 2010 at 9:34 am
I heard that at one point he gave Ryan the O-classic middle finger face scratch. Can anyone verify?
I read an opinion piece in the Washington Examiner saying that dems are no longer serious about healthcare, but this is about the 2010 elections. The piece speculates that the summit was a show played to the loyal dem base.
February 26, 2010 at 9:44 am
On the finger. Yes…
http://www.theobamafile.com/ObamaLatest.htm
Second one down.
February 26, 2010 at 9:49 am
perries if you check AtlasShrugs, you will see the O doing that very thing.
February 26, 2010 at 10:47 am
Yep, I have nothing but respect for those two after yesterday.
February 26, 2010 at 11:57 am
In all of the Republican colloquies on the Senate floor in December Alexander was consistently one of the most incisive and persuasive speakers.
I did see some clips of Ryan from the summit — great performance. (With cut-aways to Miss Thang, who was seconds from a hissy fit.)
February 26, 2010 at 8:46 am
I thought he crashed and burned. Couldn’t happen to a nicer wannabe dictator. I was wrong about the Republicans’ ability/willingness to stand, speak in complete sentences and NAIL HIM! I thought they would cave. They didn’t. It was a good day and I’m glad it’s over with. I was worried about it.
February 26, 2010 at 3:27 pm
David Gergin, no particular fan of Conservatism these days, stated that yesterday “was the best day the Republicans have had in years.” I know one touchdown does not usually win a game, but it’s sure a start! And Ryan was incredibly persuasive, wasn’t he?
February 26, 2010 at 9:27 am
I thought Ryan was brilliant. The only downside is that his argument can’t be boiled down into soundbites, because it is based in substance.
The comment about the old lady forced to use her dead sister’s dentures was about as ridiculous as it comes. What an embarrasement – there you are, in front of the nation, and you are talking about dental care that isn’t even covered in a healthcare plan!
The basic line of argument:
Dems – emotion, focus on pity & grievances
Reps – logic, focus on repurcussions
February 26, 2010 at 10:04 am
Dentures ARE COVERED NOW by Medicaid. And there is no provision in the Obama bill FOR DENTURES. Just more mindless robots trying to pull the wool over the eyes of the American taxpayer. Also I think Obama is despicable for his continued use of the middle finger salute –he was giving it to Ryan. POS.
February 26, 2010 at 11:15 am
I didn’t know if I was going to get sick or die laughing when I heard this. Of course, there is no way that this letter can be shown to be a phony…
February 26, 2010 at 11:21 am
That is all dems can do… sob sotries to provoke ‘feelings’… they are emotional wrecks.
Everything they do is from emotion rather than logic.
February 26, 2010 at 10:18 am
February 26, 2010 at 10:36 am
He looked bad. Petulant. And the Democrats looked like idiots. The Republicans came with good ideas and plans, which demonstrated on television that the President and Democrats have been lying for a year now, and a printed out copy of the ludicrous current bill (which for some reason ticked off the President). The Democrats came with anecdotal sob stories and did everything they could to avoid actually talking about the bill. The President came with a chip on his shoulder.
Kudos to John McCain for maintaining good humor while being slapped by President “I won and you didn’t.”
February 26, 2010 at 12:32 am
I split a gut listening to this http://storyballoon.org/videos/glenn-becks-show-makes-fun-of-the-letters-obama-gets-from-kids-pushing-dem-agendas/
Also I thought the Repubs did an excellent job today especially Ryan, Cantor, Kyl and even McCain.
February 26, 2010 at 6:45 am
That Glenn Beck bit was HILARIOUS… I heard it live and was snorting .. it was so funny.
“Dick Cheeney ate my heart and liver”.. hahaha
February 26, 2010 at 10:30 am
“Dick Cheeney ate my heart and liver”…
The best line, ever.
February 26, 2010 at 8:25 am
“Mistew Pwesident, I’m onwy seven months owed and I poop my pants on a wegular basis…”
ROFLMAO! Genius!
February 26, 2010 at 12:58 pm
OMG even reading your post is making me laugh. Best bit I’ve heard in a long time.
February 26, 2010 at 11:10 am
This almost made my coffee come up through my nose! One of the voices sounded like Edith Bunker, and that made me laugh even harder!!
February 26, 2010 at 12:43 am
Ryan took it to Obama.
February 26, 2010 at 1:25 am
I love Ryan. Why are we not hearing his name floated for POTUS?
February 26, 2010 at 4:28 am
Oh, I think eventually he will be Pres. He’s pretty young, though right now. He’s very impressive. He really got to Obama; it was awesome.
February 26, 2010 at 6:46 am
Paul Ryan was awesome!
I would like to know more about him.
I was disappointed with McCain.. why did he put up with Obama saying that to him? Man up McCain!
February 26, 2010 at 8:02 am
One of the most interesting things in observing Obama for me – contrary to how he ran as a sunny, happy healer type, he actually is quite thin skinned, grumpy and pretty much a downer overall. President Eore (sp?).
February 26, 2010 at 8:09 am
I think McCain was a little shocked by Utopia’s rude behavior. I know I sure was. McCain was making a perfectly valid point.
February 26, 2010 at 8:27 am
The next time McCain mans up to Obama will be the first time.
February 26, 2010 at 8:29 am
Obama’s “I won” schtick is getting old, and its arrogant.
February 26, 2010 at 8:31 am
Re: McCain–it is his “respect” for the office of the POTUS. Unlike BHO who, apparently is ignorant of the proper protocol, calling senators by their first name in public.
February 26, 2010 at 9:32 am
Re: McCain. He is the older generation who does show respect to the office of the POTUS, etc. When I see a granny-type person, they are always the nicest people, genuinely (sp?) friendly and nice. Can you image what the next generation of granny-type people will be like—–nasty, entitled, etc. Scary thought!
February 26, 2010 at 9:46 am
If the campaign is over O, then STOP CAMPAIGNING!
February 26, 2010 at 10:22 am
It has nothing to do with respect for the office; during the campaign McCain spent more time attacking other Republicans than he did Obama. There are reasons why even some hard-core Republicans preferred Hillary over McCain.
February 26, 2010 at 10:53 am
The results of Obama v/s Paul Ryan
Friday, February 26, 2010 Email to a Friend ShareThis.Advertisement
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows that 23% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-three percent (43%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -20. For President Obama, the Approval Index has been lower only once (see trends).
February 26, 2010 at 12:56 pm
McCain nailed it. The surest way to get under Mr. middle finger’s skin is to LAUGH at him.
Ridicule is more effective than missiles. The emperor has no clothes.
February 26, 2010 at 5:19 pm
I met Paul Ryan at a fundraiser for my state rep a couple of years ago. He lives in Janesville, WI, the next town over from me. He told the story of how his grandparents came over from Ireland & raised sheep in Footville, WI. He is very down to earth & genuine.
Wisconsin is rightly proud of our Paul Ryan today! He is a brilliant, articulate, & honorable man. What a contrast to the Arrogant One!
Susan
February 26, 2010 at 9:31 am
I heard Ryan quoted as saying he would not run for president because his kids are too small and his ego is not that big–just the kind of pres we need!
And re Obama calling the senators by their first names — he knows the protocol. His failure to observe it was intentional. It’s just like male opponents calling their female opponents “hon” or “dear.”
February 26, 2010 at 11:05 am
Agree that Obama knows protocol. He is not clueless and every action is calculated and thought out…Even his little smirk has been practiced and perfected to provoke others to want to slap him. It is designed to get to the emotional base of the opponent and away from the intellectual, logical base of the opponent.
February 26, 2010 at 12:03 pm
Miss Thang was paying his/her friend Arlen Specter a compliment — imitation being the most sincere form of flattery — by following the standard he set with his disrespect towards Michele Bachmann.
February 26, 2010 at 2:05 pm
I didn’t like Barry calling the the various senators and representatives by their first names either. My mom raised me to say “Mr.” or “Mrs.” or “Ms.” I had to say “sir” and “ma’am” as well.
February 26, 2010 at 11:49 am
I feel the same way …. why isn’t he being mention as POTUS.
February 26, 2010 at 10:18 am
One of the rules of thumb in public speaking is “make your points in 5 to 7″ (as in minutes).
In just over 6 minutes, Paul Ryan stated, then amplified with facts and citations, and then summarized the GOP objections to the current Health Care bill, which is a topic of daunting complexity. It was an absolutely masterful performance and unlike Dr. Utopia, I was smiling every minute as I watched and listened.

I’d love to see a Youtube of just this 6 minutes.

Ryan was excellent plus he is pretty HOT also!
February 26, 2010 at 1:24 am
February 26, 2010 at 1:33 am
“I don’t count my time – because I’m the president.” People laughed, but he was serious. (Democrats got twice as much time to talk as Republicans)
Dr. U to McCain “The election is over John.” (another way of saying “This isn’t a debate, I’m in charge.”)
McCain should have answered “And the American people are wishing the election was tomorrow Barry.”
How much of an ass can this man be?
Got any more examples?
Never in a million years could I picture GWB or WJC being so condescending and rude.
February 26, 2010 at 4:47 am
That exchange with McCain was so telling. the only way Obama could have been ruder was if he had said, “I won. And you can kiss my ass John.”
February 26, 2010 at 10:33 am
I’m sorry, I must have heard that differently because what I heard was definitely ‘you can kiss my ass’.
Did he not say kiss my ass? Sorry, my bad.
February 26, 2010 at 5:19 am
“Never in a million years could I picture GWB or WJC being so condescending and rude.”
That is because Bill and Dubya have something that Barry will never have…it is called CLASS.
February 26, 2010 at 7:55 am
That is because he is ENTITLED!! Don’t you know..he IS the first African President…
February 26, 2010 at 10:52 am
Their Mama’s raised them right.
February 26, 2010 at 8:04 am
He answered ‘the election is over’ because he could not counter McCain’s arguments on the merits. obama does this quite often. He does not have clear, disciplined responses to legitimate criticism. He changes the subject, gives an aside as he did here, or says, that’s a legitimate point and then moves on.
February 26, 2010 at 9:37 am
Yes, that is just how Al Gore works. Can’t handle the critism.
February 26, 2010 at 10:20 am
If you cannot handle criticism, you’ve got no doggone business being in politics!
February 26, 2010 at 8:35 am
Minority Whip Eric Cantor had brought the 2,000+ senate bill with him and man, did that ever piss off Obama.
He’s so thin-skinned, you can tell his temper is not far beneath the surface. A couple of times I thought he was in danger of having an on-air tantrum.
At one point, he just mentally ‘withdrew’ and called over an assistant(?) and started whispering to her, while writing (fake) notes on a piece of paper.
I think he had to do this or he would have exploded.
February 26, 2010 at 11:04 am
Sooooo – mister “cool” ain’t all that? He did look on the verge of losing it the whole time. Maybe that one-finger salute is him re-directing his “energy” – sort a release valve. Yeah. That’s the ticket.
February 26, 2010 at 9:36 am
When I hear comments like this, I think of the pictures and the differece in DC when the election was over, FILTHY, vs. when the 9-12 group left, CLEAN. The entitled attitude, someone will clean up after me, vs. each of us picking up and taking care of ourselves
February 26, 2010 at 11:11 am
I wish Senators and Congresspersons would start calling Dr. U. “Barry” in front of the cameras. It is a subtle reminder to the masses that he used to go by a different name. And O. hates it and so does Michello.
February 26, 2010 at 5:33 pm
I don’t think the majority of Republican legislators would ever do that, simply because their actions distinguish them from his crass behavior.
February 26, 2010 at 7:08 am
I agree completely, I woke up this morning thinking BHO is without a doubt the most arrogant and unlikable president we have ever had. My memories go back as far as JFK and can imagine none of them behaving in such a ridiculous way. The country has real issues to deal with and he does not have a clue. Arrogant and incompetent! Bring on the elections.
February 26, 2010 at 8:49 am
Maybe Jimmy Carter was as brittle and prissy as Dr. U., but he was not as blatantly rude, as I recall.
Dr. U. just has an amazing lack of self-awareness.
“Know thyself” he does not, or he would not act the way he does towards others.
February 26, 2010 at 11:54 pm
This is my (!) 14th president though I can’t remember Hoover, but I remember conversations about him. This is the only one that has no idea what he’s doing–unless it is to destroy the country–and he’s working on that for sure.
February 26, 2010 at 11:27 am
There’s noting cute about an ill-behaved, petulant brat … especially one who’s 47-years-old.
February 26, 2010 at 7:04 pm
February 26, 2010 at 1:31 pm
Can you even imagine if Secretary Clinton had behaved this way? She’d be eviscerated by all press, even MSNBC.
February 26, 2010 at 2:26 am
February 26, 2010 at 9:51 am
At some point, you have to come to the conclusion that Obama believes his enemies are within the US, not outside of our borders.
February 26, 2010 at 5:14 am
Creepy….these clowns really think if they just keep hammering the same points the HC bill will suddenly become magically delicious.
http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0210/Obama_campaign_arm_focuses_on_talk_radio.html?showall
February 26, 2010 at 8:48 am
Karma: I just clicked the link you provided…it had 826 responses. I think it is a very telling thing that the DOA is trying to flood the airwaves with Trolls, and think it is scary to think that there may be cadres of Acorn folk, or others of that ilk sitting home, and trying to stack the Socialized Medicine deck, in an effort to compromise what is an open exchange of ideas . The only thing I can say is that they truly are control freaks.
February 26, 2010 at 11:23 am
Please.. let them call Rush.
He is great with thos callers.
February 26, 2010 at 1:36 pm
You know, I usually don’t listen to the radio because I can’t fast-forward through commercials. This, however, should be so very entertaining that I may have to start. Heh. Rush, Hannity, Beck and Ingram will have these idiots for lunch.
February 26, 2010 at 3:13 pm
Lars Larson is great at tearing them apart as well.

Here’s a comment I saw earlier today over at Ace of Spades HQ about this:
Obamabots! Leave you comments here:

Here’s my report back to Dear Leader:
My Dearest Obama,
As you wished, I called WTEM sports talk radio in Washington DC.

I’m getting miffed at all the Brown hate from the right. I had to scold one of them at HA earlier: http://hotair.com/headlines/?p=73118&cpage=2#comment-868182
February 26, 2010 at 8:07 am
Brown is a MA Republican. What exactly do people expect? If he wants to be reelected in 2 years in MA, he cannot vote with the religious right for God’s sake. Look at the big picture people! The guy single handedly derailed Obamacare! That right there is worth a dozen votes with the Dems on other issues.
February 26, 2010 at 11:24 am
Rock on! Exactly right.
February 26, 2010 at 11:39 am
So, jp, it’s not about standing up and doing what’s right, bravely facing one’s adversaries, voting one’s conscience and demonstrating one’s courage of conviction in every instance … the only thing that counts is getting reelected. You know, “winning” … as The I Won is so fond of pointing out. Good God, whatever became of American values?
February 26, 2010 at 12:10 pm
Maybe his conscience is a little further left than most die-hard conservatives? Maybe his “what’s right” and yours aren’t quite the same?
“Good God, whatever became of American values?” — like there’s a single definition? I think some people were projecting onto Scott Brown a bit too much of their own politics.
February 26, 2010 at 1:06 pm
Brown said explicitly that if a bill was good for the people of MA, he would vote for it.
And yes, getting reelected so you can stop the crap that is not good for the people of MA is important.
Not everything is about the high road, sometimes the practical road has to be taken.
If you want to survive and fight another day.
February 26, 2010 at 12:22 pm
Unfortunately, you are right. For nearly two hundred years, the US has supported a class of career politicians. (Since the early 1800′s) Over time, the situation has increased until today – most politicians are more concerned about hanging onto their positions than good governance. If you believe term limits will solve this problem, look again. Phoenix and Arizona have some term limits; the pols just look for the next office up when they hit the limit. A typical path is Phoenix councilman, mayor, political appointee, state office… you get the picture
February 26, 2010 at 8:11 am
February 26, 2010 at 8:34 am
He said that if the bill came back from the House full of pork, he would not ultimately vote for it.
February 26, 2010 at 9:03 am
February 26, 2010 at 10:55 am
DO YOU THINK YOU WOULD HAVE RATHER HAD MARTHA!!! NOT!!
February 26, 2010 at 11:03 am
Not sure what you mean, faye. I am glad that Martha didn’t win.
February 26, 2010 at 11:04 am
February 26, 2010 at 11:39 am
I liked some of the points made here:

I liked one of the comments – just the thing to say to people who desperately WANT socialized medicine (edited for space):
Tom in Michigan| 2.25.10 @ 8:59PM
Hello, Alan. I believe you can emigrate to the UK and become a citizen, if you wish. Here is the website with the all information you will need:
https://www.migrationexpert.com/uk/register.asp?type=61&fid=100036&utm_id=15&utm_term=british citizen&gclid=cm_pvohsjqacfzdm5qodazqgdw
Cheers! Mate
February 26, 2010 at 4:15 pm
Britain initiated their National Healthcare scheme in 1948. One would think that after 62 years to iron out the wrinkles, if it were workable, they’d have gotten in right by now. And with a population 20% that of the USA I just shudder to think…
February 26, 2010 at 7:16 am
February 26, 2010 at 9:50 am
Currently there are 14.5 million health care jobs. You do the math. (Oh, and that doesn’t count all the people who would get OUT of medicine. And how are these 4.5 mil going to suddenly get qualified?)
February 26, 2010 at 9:52 am
She said that because Employment numbers tanked again yesterday and she knows people are really mad that the Dems keep hammering away at healthcare while doing little about serious job issues. This 15 bill jobs bill that just passed the senate is worthless.
They won’t ever do anything meaningful about jobs because the best thing you can do is let people keep their own money. People keep more of their own money and they spend more – at businesses. Businesses then make money and need to hire people. But the Dems in Congress and the idiot in the White House want to keep taking more money – which brings us back to the Health Crime issue. It’s a huge money grab.
February 26, 2010 at 11:11 am
melanie-you reminded me of a thought I had the other day.
February 26, 2010 at 12:31 pm
How does the government create jobs? By increasing spending and hiring more bureacrats or giving money to local governments to for construction projects (read temporary jobs.) Economic recovery depends on creating productive jobs – people who are building something that other people will buy. Phoenix got one of those grants and is widening 1 block of a major street. Huh? Meanwhile our water system is full of leaks; a quarter of the water is lost.
In other words, government inefficiency reigns even in its proper area of responsibility. Allowing it to interfere in other areas is a plan for disaster.
February 26, 2010 at 7:58 am
One of the the more ridiculous things that was said in the Health Summit yesterday was Obama’s claim that the government health care programs are growing at a faster rate than the private programs. He said that this was because employers were not willing to do their part and provide health insurance for their employees. But this cannot be the reason because there are no government health care programs available for working people. Believe me, if there were I would have found one by now for a relative of mine.
February 26, 2010 at 9:09 am
Did it not occur to Dear Leader that the reason any government care programs that are out there are growing is because he is ruining the economy, people are still losing jobs, then their health care.
February 26, 2010 at 8:08 am

February 26, 2010 at 11:13 am
And really – how much worse for Dems could the November elections become? Let’s find out. TEA Parties may turn into war parties.
February 26, 2010 at 9:55 am
I was against it to and spent a lot of time on the phone calling “Pubs” asking them not to attend. In hind sight I think it was the best thing to do. It exposed a lot of things about our Dear Leader and his henchmen.
February 26, 2010 at 2:03 pm
In that case, BE SURE and write/call them and apologize. Then tell them what a wonderful job they did, and how proud you are to be on “their” team.
You can bet they will enjoy hearing that from the American people – they usually only hear the bad stuff from us peasants!
February 26, 2010 at 3:03 pm
That is a good suggestion, come Monday I think I shall call them again to tender my apology and to thank them for everything they’re doing in this hard slog.
The latest word is that Miss Thang wants the legislation wrapped up and on his/her desk by the end of March.
February 26, 2010 at 8:13 am
There are rumors flying around that Plugs Biden met with Crist at a restaurant in Miami. The Miami Herald advises that it can not confirm but, reading the Herald is like reading the NY SLIMES.
If Crist does run as an independent does that mean that George Lemieux who Crist appointed to the senate to keep his seat warm can become Dr. Utopia’s 60th vote in the senate?
The disdain these corrupt politicians have for “We the People” knows no bounds!
February 26, 2010 at 8:31 am
I live in Florida. I hope to be able to vote for Rubio come election time. Charlie Tuna is a Republican version of Obama. He blows with the wind as he tries to be everyone’s friend instead of being everyone’s leader. Pandered extraordinaire .
February 26, 2010 at 8:33 am
Panderer extraordinaire, that is.
February 26, 2010 at 8:41 am
When I saw this story yesterday, it ticked me off. As a conservative in PA, we were expected to support a “moderate” such as Arlen Specter in 02. OK fine, he beat Toomey in the primary. But did Toomey turn around and go Indie?
Redstate is right on this, “Big Tent for me, but not for thee.”http://www.redstate.com/erick/2010/02/16/the-one-way-street/
February 26, 2010 at 2:04 pm
Regardless of what Sorry Charlie does, Obama isn’t going to have anywhere NEAR 60 votes in the Senate come November….
February 26, 2010 at 8:15 am
February 26, 2010 at 8:27 am
I know of them.
An effective sign that counter demonstrators could use would be “God doesn’t hate, but Westboro Baptist Church does! What’s wrong with that picture”? Or, “If God commands us to be like Jesus, then hate is not an option”!
February 26, 2010 at 8:47 am
Nomobama, great suggestions! Thank you… ;)
February 26, 2010 at 8:50 am
Sometimes these bigots say they are coming and never show up. That has been the case here at least. I’m proud of your daughter too.
February 26, 2010 at 9:12 am
A co-workers BF (he’s retired) is a Harley rider. He is with a group (Patriot Riders…something like that) of fellow bikers and they ride to the places Westboro shows up at (like returning soldiers funeral processions) and they act as a physical and ‘noise’ buffer against Westboro idiots.
February 26, 2010 at 9:58 am
Here’s a thought. Does your area have a Patriot Guard organization? Try contacting them and see if they can help. http://www.patriotguard.org/
February 26, 2010 at 10:32 am
Good luck and let us know how you make out.
February 26, 2010 at 10:27 am
Form a counter protest. That’s the American way.
February 26, 2010 at 11:19 am
keparker-I’m orignally from Chicago, we had the same type of trouble with the Neo-Nazis who would come to Skokie and Lincolnwood to terrorize the Jewish people.

Happy PostHealthCareSummit (what no beer?) Day!!!

February 26, 2010 at 9:56 am

February 26, 2010 at 6:45 pm
Def. was just thinking the same thing…Patty…PattyMelt…where are you???
February 26, 2010 at 12:12 pm
Coffee party? I’ll have to check out the article but my nose detects yet another campaign directed from above, presumably out of Axelrod’s office, or even by Obamarahma themselves.
If the suspicion is well-founded … instead of “coffee party,” why don’t we call it the “coke party” or the “snow party” in honor of all the white powder that’s gone up Miss Thang’s nose in the course of her/his life.
February 26, 2010 at 1:22 pm
I like it. Snow party indeed. Especially since they like to hand us all snow-jobs on facts.

Yesterday I opposed the government takeover of our health care system.
Today, I support it.
A woman had to wear her sister’s dentures.
And they didn’t even fit.
This cannot stand.
February 26, 2010 at 9:02 am
Yes, and thanks to Senator Harkin we now know that risk pools are inherently discriminatory. Oh the shame, we must rectify this blot on America immediately!
February 26, 2010 at 12:42 pm
Ah yes, the infamous Senator Tom Harkin of Iowa:

Her DEAD sisterz dentures!
February 26, 2010 at 9:40 am
A huge concern about the government takeover of health care is whether it will cover Polident, or will people be forced to take the store brand which comes in a similar but much less presentable carton?
It is obvious where the American People stand on the used denture/store brand denture-adhesive issue.
New dentures and Polident for All!

ROTFLMAO, I love you guys!
February 26, 2010 at 9:39 am
Wasn’t that hilarious and tragic all at the same time? Of course the problem with the denture story is that there is no dental in this health care bill. In fact, this new form of compassionate liberalism will not only make this women wear second hand dentures, she’ll be fined for not having adequate health insurance.
February 26, 2010 at 10:26 am
I thought it was ridiculous also. My mother is on Medicare and had to have new denture and Medicare doesn’t pay for it. We, her family members, had to pay for them. So, she already HAS government insurance and that isn’t covered? So what the heck was that woman talking about! Dentures are NOT covered and won’t be in the future!
February 26, 2010 at 11:05 am
OMG – - family members helping each other out? Sounds like a subversive concept.
I hope your mother paid tax on your so-called “help,” which in reality was in-kind contributions deemed taxable income for IRS purposes.
February 26, 2010 at 10:01 am
And my thought was – So now we’re also supposed to pay for dental work. We pay through the nose (or mouth!) for our dental coverage and now we’re also supposed to pay for someone else’s???? Oh wait – only the VERY wealthy will be paying for it.
February 26, 2010 at 10:35 am
LOL! Who was that woman? A NY congresswoman with a southern accent?? Oy.
February 26, 2010 at 11:13 am

Perhaps you should read up on her record:
http://www.louise.house.gov/
February 26, 2010 at 11:30 am
Tonawanda you are so right! And since it can’t stand, the Dems need an immediate amendment to Obamacare so it will, in fact, cover new and/or used dentures. Note to sobbers: make sure your stories actually relate to your legislation.
February 26, 2010 at 4:04 pm
Hope you don’t need dentures soon.
February 26, 2010 at 7:41 pm
I beg to differ on Slaughter and her story.
OK, off my soap box!

February 27, 2010 at 12:06 am

Found this new CNN poll interesting, I’m not feeling as lonely.
February 26, 2010 at 9:39 am
I thought the framing of this sentence is interesting:
“only 37 percent of Democrats, 63 percent of Independents and nearly 7 in 10 Republicans say the federal government poses a threat to the rights of Americans”
February 26, 2010 at 10:41 am
HaHAH! More than a third of the D’s; close to 2/3 of the I’s and 70 percent of R’s fears this government and they frame it as “only”? And they deny bias?
Good grief! No wonder FOX news beats every one of their shows in every demographic.
February 26, 2010 at 2:25 pm
Notice how they said “7 in 10″ instead of 70%? That’s spin for ya….
February 26, 2010 at 9:17 am
I really think that for every sad story presented about an American who ran up against too-high health care costs or insurance denial, equal time should be given to a story about gross *bureaucratic* negligence, irresponsibility and mistakes (not to mention a little fraud and waste for good measure) that have resulted in the suffering and even the deaths of Americans. There are millions of delightful tales to be told (we have a couple ourselves).
February 26, 2010 at 9:25 am
I also think there should be stories of personal responsibility and preventive health choices. How many of these sob stories actually took care of themselves i.e. diet, exercise, smoking, weight??? So much of poor health can be prevented. So much about life is a string of choices.
February 26, 2010 at 9:48 am
All the sad stories get so ridiculous. To begin with, we don’t need to be lectured with examples of the struggles Americans go thru. We pretty much live them everyday.
But mostly they make our lawmakers look so elitist, so out of touch, it’s insulting. “I know a woman who walks 5 miles in the snow barefoot..” Well, did you offer her a ride? Of course not, you probably backed over her foot so you could win the sob story contest. “I know a woman with a broken foot who walks five miles in the snow bare foot..”
February 26, 2010 at 11:17 am
Ha!
February 26, 2010 at 11:21 am
It has also been proven on a few occasions, these sob stories were false. Michelle Malkin documented one out of Oregon that Nicholas Kristof used in a NY Times column. They are sometimes exaggerated or made up for PR purposes, “health care concern trolling” so to speak.
February 26, 2010 at 2:26 pm
“…and then her foot had to be amputated…”
February 26, 2010 at 4:40 pm
Oh wait…”and then the doctor unnessarily amputated her foot because he could charge a higher fee for that.”
February 26, 2010 at 11:14 am
You can also show how our current HC system is working well and doing the right thing. The success stories etc….
February 26, 2010 at 11:45 am
February 26, 2010 at 11:17 am
Marian:
Also, the misuse and abuse of the ER. That is NEVER reported, its costs taxpayers and those with insurance higher premiums to cover the cost of uncompensated care.
Many of the ER visits are non-emergency such as coming in for a cold, and seeking prescription drugs. If anyone has family or friends that works in the ER, this is a common fact. Medicare pays for all ER visits, and its coming out of pockets.
February 26, 2010 at 11:47 am
That’s been going on for over 30 years, or at least as long as I can remember. “I’m just bringing granny by for a check up.”
February 26, 2010 at 11:50 am
We were recently looking for new insurance and one company, who only operates in Alabama, actually told us to be sure and go to an ER if we got sick out of state. Uh – the reason we get insurance is so we DON’T have to wait for hours at an ER for non-emergency treatment. They didn’t get the contract. But this shows how onerous the current insurance-by-state system has become.

I know…I really wish they would open more places like the minute clinics they have in larger cities..
February 26, 2010 at 3:46 pm
February 26, 2010 at 7:49 pm
In AZ it is illegal aliens in ERs raising health care costs!

The government can’t manage already so now Obama wants to mismanage more.

“60 Minutes” did a fabulous exposé Sunday on Medicare fraud that should be required viewing for all people who support a government run healthcare program in this country.
The facts and figures presented by CBS’s Steve Kroft were disturbing as were the details concerning how shysters bilk the system for an estimated $60 billion a year.

February 26, 2010 at 9:50 am
Wasn’t that ridiculous? I can hardly wait to get my cheap imported health insurance from the Wal Mart exchange. Hopefully it will be better then the toaster I bought that tried to burn my house down.
February 26, 2010 at 9:25 am
It’s not too hard to imagine anymore that our President would really prefer for himself the title of Dictator or King. (Chairman? Father??)
February 26, 2010 at 9:54 am
So I went to the Organizing for America website where they are telling their “followers” to call talk radio stations with their health care talking points (listed of course on the website).
The website gives you suggestions of radio stations to call and I clicked on the radio station that popped up It allows you to listen to the station through the OFA site and I’m currently listening to talk about growing great lawns and having a great garden.
ROFL! I’d LOVE to hear Obama talking points on this Lawn and Garden show!!

The Rush Limbaugh programme is conspicuously absent from their line-up.
Obviously, they’re scared of him.
Just realized Hannity’s not there, either.
Tax dollars at work.
February 26, 2010 at 11:53 am
It’s because they screen their calls for Trolls and won’t let them on the air unless they can use the troll to illustrate a point.I am sure the Libs are going for less-savvy talk shows.
February 26, 2010 at 10:27 am
This is part of the instructions:
“Be polite, respectful, and clear. Remember, you represent Organizing for America.”
So the astroturf callers are supposed to be transparent about being part of the OFA plan?
February 26, 2010 at 10:42 am
Ahh, finally, transparent troll instructions.

I sure hope some of the fictional children who write letters to the president about their dire situations call talk radio hosts today.
I can hear it now:

Just watched this video of BO speaking of insurance companies.
He proves that he is still as dumb as when he was just out of college.
Can’t tell the difference between auto ins. coverage then or NOW!
And tries to draw a parallel between auto ins. and health ins.
It is ALL EVIL! (So he tries to imply):

The Obama Democrat machine pushed Governor Patterson out of the re-election bid.
February 26, 2010 at 10:36 am

February 26, 2010 at 2:56 pm
Great article.
But “I think I can…I think I can…I think I can”…
February 26, 2010 at 10:58 pm

February 26, 2010 at 11:43 am
Bill- Duh Hope the Democrats are bright enough and more importantly patriotic enough to vote against Obama’s plan from hell.

February 26, 2010 at 4:03 pm

I am so grateful that not one of the Republicans unwisely “responded in kind” with any sarcasm or off-target comments that could have easily been made under pressure and would have become the lead item on all the MSM evening news reports. They behaved like adults and just let the nasty little boy wee-wee himself all day.

February 26, 2010 at 11:38 am
The Opening Pearl from “Plugs” yesterday:
“I think it requires a little bit of humility to be able to know what the American people think, and I don’t. I can’t swear I do. I know what I think. I think I know what they think, but I’m not sure what they think.”
How does he keep topping himself?
February 26, 2010 at 11:46 am
It’s a gift.
February 26, 2010 at 11:50 am
Obama is such an idiot. Poll after poll, demonstrations, town hall meetings, 9/12 March and he still doesn’t know that the American people screamed that they hate this bill and most everything coming out of his administration. Is it possible he is functionally illiterate? Obama does not read, cannot comprehend, does not listen. I suppose if his teleprompter doesn’t instruct him, he does not know what he thinks. His poll numbers are terrible, worst descent ever for a potus and he presumes to think the American people are happy with him and his regime.
February 26, 2010 at 11:59 am
Oh, dear. You put it into words: “Is it possible he is functionally illiterate?” And the second I read your query, I knew it couldn’t be completely dismissed as a possibility.

Just because you are handed golden opportunities your entire life, doesn’t mean you make good use of them. Clarence Thomas did it. Obama?

Your head was not meant for that. Just for shooting off your mouth and eating ice-cream.

BO’s health care summit reminded me of the “Genius” Wile E. Coyote plots.

Here’s my report back to Dear Leader:
My Dearest Obama,
As you wished, I called WTEM sports talk radio in Washington DC.

February 26, 2010 at 12:34 pm
Good for you!
That WalMart comment was pretty stunning, wasn’t it?
February 27, 2010 at 12:55 am
What fun. He trashes flyover country gun owners. Then he trashes Las Vegas–twice. Now he has done it! He has trashed WalMart and everyone who shops there and I guess also the Chinese–since everything for sale at Wally World is from China.
February 26, 2010 at 1:24 pm
Enuff of my rant!
Semper fi!

February 26, 2010 at 3:47 pm
Yes – it was the end of our freedom as we know it according to Democrats during the Bush years. Now it just slips by without much fanfare.

I am falling in love with this guy. Breitbart on Red Eye getting in the face of some libtard “journalist” who calls him RAAAACIST.
Hope this works – haven’t tried it before.

Hey guys,
the False Messiah was so arrogant and mean to senator McCain when he practically told him to shut up because he WON and is the president now. The sad thing was McCain reaction…McCain is soooo freakin WEAK!
I can’t wait for Sarah Palin to put this arrogant evil man in his place!!!! God make it happen!!!
February 26, 2010 at 1:45 pm
Carmelo, McCain was on Fox & Friends this morning and he was making excuses for the O. I had to turn him off.
February 26, 2010 at 4:12 pm
McCain is from the days when you were still friends with people across the aisle. That just isn’t so anymore and trying to deal with a president who has no wish to be civil or respectful of his opponents by being kind is ludicrous. I’m not saying McCain should be equally as ignorant, but he doesn’t understand that him making excuses just make Dr. U think he is even more fabulous than he thought he was.
February 27, 2010 at 1:02 am

I loved Slings and Arrows!
February 27, 2010 at 10:33 am

Karma is chasing Utopia. And it WILL catch him.

The only one I feel sorry for is NYS.
February 26, 2010 at 5:32 pm
:Answering my own question:
Albany, NY – After a tough legal battle last year, a court ruled the Governor of New York did have the power to appoint a lieutenant governor without any say from the State Senate or Assembly.
In July, Richard Ravitch was put in place as the Lieutenant Governor to break any ties in the State Senate. But if speculation that Paterson will leave office turns out to be true, Ravitch, who was not elected, will become governor
February 26, 2010 at 10:12 pm
February 27, 2010 at 1:06 am
I always gotta a kick out of Patterson, can’t help it. He was refreshing, and had backbone, and really did stick it to people who tried to bully him. This latest scandal is odd to me, don’t know the details, it’s too sordid and I don’t care. It doesn’t sound like anything illegal was done by Patterson, whatever. Apparently he had problems balancing the budget, yadda yadda. And yes, now we get to have yet another Govenor. Well, the third time’s a charm.

Guys,
I heard Governor Patterson talking on Hannity.
