What do you think of the rumors Rush Limbaugh and others have been talking about, where Joe Biden or Hillary Clinton could be nominated to the Supreme Court when Justices Stevens and Ginsburg retire, as expected, sometime this year?
The idea of Joe Biden doing anything besides running a Baskin-Robbins (and eating it into oblivion) after his term as Vice President is up in 2013 is ludicrous. There’s a better chance of Biden replacing David Letterman on the Late Show (where we think he would actually do a great job) than becoming a SCOTUS Justice.
The conspiracy theory in all this is that once Biden is out, Dr. Utopia would replace him with Hillary Clinton as VP, thus ostensibly bringing the Jacksonian-Clinton Democrats back into the party. The catch with this is that no matter how much we like Hillary Clinton, we’re not going to support Dr. Utopia or what he is doing to the country. Even if she became his VP, we still wouldn’t vote for him for re-election. We will not vote for Dr. Utopia for President, even if he made one of us, personally, his VP. We just can’t do that to America…he needs to be defeated and the Left needs to be removed from power. Period.
As for Hillary, we just don’t see her wanting or accepting a spot on the Court. There’s a guy we know here in Chicago, who is kind of a dreamboat, who we could listen to go on and on for hours about all manner of nonsense. He’s wrong about everything, but so cute it never matters. Welcome to Boystown. Well, this guy, Drake, insisted in 2008 that Hillary Clinton would be a SCOTUS Justice, before she became Secretary of State. Even though Hillary’s never shown any sort of desire to be a judge. Whatsoever. How long has it been since she practiced law? She’d be great at anything she set out to do, but sitting in a big ugly robe, being quiet most of the time, and only appearing in public at the State of the Union Address is not the best fit for her.
If she chooses to never run for President again, we see Clinton as UN Secretary General, or running for Governor of either New York, Arkansas, or (it’s a stretch) Illinois. She would, in fact, be a fantastic Governor. We wish very much she was running for Governor in New York right now, instead of allowing Andrew Cuomo to force David Paterson out and take that slot for himself.
We don’t see her retiring. As much as she’s looking forward to grandchildren once Chelsea is married later this summer, we don’t think she’ll be taking up knitting or slowing down any, after she resigns as Secretary of State (which we think will happen before the year is out, after the trouncing Democrats take in November).
We hope those midterm elections are so bad, and the collapse of the Democrat Party is so severe, that Dr. Utopia uses his Parkinsons as an excuse not to seek a second term, so Hillary can have the Democrats’ nomination in 2012. The sad truth, though, is that we don’t believe ANY Democrat can win in 2012…because Dr. Utopia, Howard Dean, Donna Brazile, and Rahm Emanuel have so ruined things and alienated too many former party loyalists.
If anyone can save the Democrats, it’s Hillary Clinton…but will she want to save them, after they backstabbed her the way they did?
Democrats could have had 8 years in the White House with her…and possibly spun off Dr. Utopia after that, for at least 12 years in power. Instead, those fools pushed Hillary aside for the effeminate, biracial, socialist bumbled they proclaimed a “Lightbringer”. Whatever the Hell that means.
Idiots.
But, with so many rumors swirling around lately about the future, we’re wondering what you think is going to happen. Can you imagine any scenarios where either Biden or Clinton, or both, end up on the Supreme Court?
Do you think Hillary Clinton would ever end up as Vice President?
Do you think Dr. Utopia will seek a second term?
What think you?
February 9, 2010 at 12:17 pm
The SCOTUS news frightens me.I do not want any vacancies at all.I guess if we had to have a Justice between the two Hillary or Biden I would want the sicker one.
Off topic but at Red State yesterday they posted a piece by Aaron Gardner really having a go at Farah and the birfers. I tried to point out some things and got my as* completely kicked off that blog! I was shocked!
February 9, 2010 at 7:24 pm
Hold up … aren’t SCOTUS nominees usually judges? Seventh or Ninth Court of Appeals, State Supreme Court …? Neither HRC or Biden have such experience.
February 9, 2010 at 9:00 pm
Lawyer, judge, what’s the big difference? Lawyers often know more than judges b/c judges don’t get sued for malpractice or have to make a living based on how good they are.
February 9, 2010 at 12:18 pm
If Biden were nominated for the SCOTUS, it is the ultimate low in sleezy politics. It would show just how much importance utopia places the vanguard of the Constitution. I know it’s graphic, but such a move is tantamount to utopia taking a dump on the U.S. Constitution. There’s no other way to view this move, should it happen.
February 9, 2010 at 12:43 pm
Agreed. The mere suggestion of Biden on the Supreme Court is appalling. And if any of the Supremes suspect that joker would replace them, they might decide to defer retirement just to protect the reputation of the Court. Even if he is nominated, he would make such a fool of himself at the confirmation hearings that no respectable senator could vote for him. (I hope.)
February 9, 2010 at 1:57 pm
You’re right. But, how far will the desire to remain respectable go? If senators could be bought off to endorse the utopia so-called healthcare reform bill, couldn’t they be persuaded to do Biden a favor? I’ve lost all trusts of these guys to do what’s good and right for this country.
February 9, 2010 at 3:13 pm
You will not have a choice with Ruth Ginsburg. She has pancreatic cancer. That cancer is not curable.
February 9, 2010 at 4:59 pm
Aren’t most SC justices already judges before they reach the SCOTUS? That may not have been the case in the past, but I would think that anyone who is going to be appointed to the SC would have to have demonstrated SOME ability to sit in judgment over major cases…
February 9, 2010 at 9:30 pm
Another thing about nominating Biden to the SCOTUS is that would leave the Vice Presidency empty for awhile.
Which means the Nancy Pelosi would be one heartbeat away from becoming POTUS until a new Vice President is confirmed by the President.
Scary thought.
February 9, 2010 at 12:20 pm
Is there any way to block, block and block O’s radical nominees?
February 9, 2010 at 4:56 pm
Any nominee has to run the gauntlet of Senate hearings. Given how much of a disaster Sotomayor has already proven to be, I seriously doubt any nominee will get through as easily as she did.
Remember that Clinton had problems with some of his nominees for other positions which required Senate approval, and those were temporary appointments.
It’s going to be hard to get any candidate through the approval process, and Congress knows it. Whether Obama does or not, is another story – most narcissists don’t know that people are against them; they live in a fantasy world far away from any semblance of reality…
February 9, 2010 at 12:23 pm
No to Hillary accepting a SCOTUS position.
As you correctly pointed out, she hasn’t practiced law for a long time. That alone is the most important reason for not saying yes. Supreme Court judges lead lives of seclusion & privacy. That is NOT Hillary!
Biden?? Definitely not. The man is a moron.
Proof: major gaffes that have fallen out of this man’s mouth! IMO—when he admitted that Hillary was a better veep candidate than he—that was a major clue as to his lack of intellect.
* “Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America. Quite frankly, it might have been a better pick than me.” –Joe Biden, speaking at a town hall meeting in Nashua, New Hampshire, Sept. 10, 2008
* “A man I’m proud to call my friend. A man who will be the next President of the United States — Barack AMERICA!” –Joe Biden, at his first campaign rally with Barack Obama after being announced as his running mate, Springfield, Ill., Aug. 23, 2008
* “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.” –Joe Biden, referring to Barack Obama at the beginning of the 2008 Democratic primary campaign, Jan. 31, 2007
* “You cannot go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent…. I’m not joking.” –Joe Biden, in a private remark to an Indian-American man caught on C-SPAN, June, 2006
* “When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, ‘Look, here’s what happened.” –Joe Biden, apparently unaware that FDR wasn’t president when the stock market crashed in 1929 and that only experimental TV sets were in use at that time, interview with Katie Couric, Sept. 22, 2008
February 9, 2010 at 12:24 pm
I wonder what would happen IF instead of saving him now and helping him get re elected, it was to help him now, with the plan on him not running for re elction and she would be the sitting VP. Since he really doesn’t like the actual work of running the country, but he would still enjoy many perks as being a past POTUS
February 9, 2010 at 7:29 pm
I thought ZIppy wanted to head up the U.N.
February 9, 2010 at 12:25 pm
Hillary a “no” for VP. She is way to smart to jump on a sinking ship. SCOTUS? Maybe. Another run for POTUS? Sure, but no VP. Not now with BO sinking and taking all liberals.
February 9, 2010 at 4:57 pm
Regarding Hillary as as VP, why would she want such a dead-end job? VPs don’t have much of a job beyond “balancing the ticket.” VPs are notoriously difficult to win if they run for President.
February 9, 2010 at 12:27 pm
Joe Biden???! Good grief, you made me spit on my monitor. Nope, no chance of Biden for SC, LOL.
I don’t believe Hillary wants it either, although she at least would be extremely qualified.
The only theory that I give a tiny bit of credence to is the possibility that Biden runs off to spend more time with his family and Hillary becomes VP. But it’s extremely doubtful. I don’t think Hillary wants that.
I don’t think we’re ever going to see President Hillary. She’s beautiful and she’ll bloom wherever she’s planted, but she’s not going to run for president.
In the US we can’t get a woman president elected based on experience and qualifications. The playing field is too uneven. Hillary visited 86 countries and knew foreign leaders by their first name and we called that “hosting tea parties in the white house.” Obama went to grade school in a foreign country and we gave him a bloody Nobel Peace Prize. No woman can compete with those kind of rules. However, we could probably get a woman president in based on popularity, personality, celebrity. Somebody like Sarah Palin. I think Palin is incredibly smart and up for the job, but I think she’s aware of the way the rules are set up and so that’s how she’s going about it. I believe Hillary is also aware of how the rules are set up and she doesn’t want to put herself thru all that when she realizes she can serve her country so well in other ways.
I really can’t think of a male candidate that I know of that would be right for the job right now. We need somebody inspiring, somebody who can lift American spirits. There is simply nobody else on my radar that is as inspiring and capable of energizing peoples spirits as Palin is.
February 9, 2010 at 3:19 pm
Hillary is not qualified to be on the SCOTUS for the reason that she does not have any background in the Judiciary. It should be a qualification for such a role that the person has had experience as a judge. A law degree is not good enough.
February 9, 2010 at 3:37 pm
I do NOT want Hillary to be a SCOTUS, but disagree she isn’t qualified. She has alot more than just a law degree. Early in her career she was named one of the top 100 lawyers (maybe twice)worked on the Watergate impeachement staff ect. I don’t think Chief Roberts has much more qulaifications than Hillary
February 9, 2010 at 12:28 pm
She has a good head on her shoulders. If we have a lib. let it be Hillary. Joe can not do it. He just can not do it. He might look normal but please!
February 9, 2010 at 12:28 pm
Now I do NOT want Hillary to be ANT closer to Dr.U than she is now. I am thrilled she is NOT in the Senate now and won’t have any of the awful things they have been doing linked to her. IF she quits as SOS, I would like her to enjoy herself, have fun with chelsea’s wedding ect. and not any other postion in Obama administration OR as a Supreme.
This is not what I’m hear as a rumour, but I wonder what would happen IF instead of saving him now and helping him get re elected, it was to help him now, with the plan on him not running for re eelction (for health reasons) and she would be the sitting VP. Since he really doesn’t like the actual work of running the country, but he would still enjoy many perks as being a past POTUS. Plus Biden is pretty awful and Hillary would actually work if she were VP, more like a cheney than a Biden.
February 9, 2010 at 12:28 pm
Any closer not ant
February 9, 2010 at 12:36 pm
sorry for the double post, I thought my first one didn’t go thru, so added more
February 9, 2010 at 12:34 pm
Did it strike anyone else as really fishy that the slick, cosmopolitan Obama, who ran a very tight campaign, would choose the gaffe- prone Biden for VP?
Well, according to Larry Sinclair, it was a payoff to Biden for his son, Beau (AG Delaware), for dragging out Sinclair from the National Press Club and throwing him in jail, before he could broadcast his allegations about drugs + sex with Obama in 1999?
His wife did indicate that Joe had his choice of Sec of State or VP….that seems to be an obvious payoff to me.
IMO, the Hillary as VP rumor could very well be true…this administration is hung up on polls and you know that they must know that Hil dems are jumping ship like crazy (esp after NJ VA and MA elections). He needs Hillary’s help and because of his narcissism, he would do anything to be re-elected.
February 9, 2010 at 12:38 pm
I’ve always believe that was why Biden got VP, also shortly after Biden was named, all the charges against Larry were dropped.
February 9, 2010 at 12:51 pm
Well, if Obama were to bring Hillary on in order to raise his poll numbers, I think it would fail, just like everything else he touches. In the back of people’s minds they’d be thinking, “he realizes he’s not up for the job,” “he needs a babysitter,” “he’s using her to do the real work.” Either way he looks incompetent.
February 9, 2010 at 11:57 pm
I don’t think Hillary is interested in VP. I believe it was offered it to her, at the meeting with Obama at Boxer’s home, and that she turned it down.
I think she wanted to work for the country, in a way in which she wouldn’t be too tainted by BO – so she left the senate, turned down veep – and became SOS.
I don’t think she wanted it then, and I don’t think she wants it now. She wants to make a difference. Hard enough to do in any administration as a veep, but playing 2nd to someone so obviously inferior to you in wonkiness, knowledge, judgment, etc, etc, etc….?
You don’t accept a Supreme assignment unless you’re at the end of your career. I don’t think she sees herself as at the end.
If BO’s polls keep going down, into the 30s, his ego won’t allow him to run again, and she can run once again. And then the heavens would TRULY open and the light would shine down….
February 9, 2010 at 12:38 pm
I hope it’s made clear to Hillary that
people will not support or re-elect Dr. Utopia just because she would be his VP.
Hillary cannot build up Zero; he will only bring her down.
Obama on the ticket is a big, big albatross.
Any ticket; even if Santa Claus is the VP!
February 9, 2010 at 1:32 pm
My brother is still so into Kool-Aid that his theory is that Obama will dump Biden in 2012 (they will figure out a way) and then pick Hillary as his V.P. TO GIVE HER A CHANCE!!! I love my brother but his total disconnection to reality is staggering. First of all, did Obama ever care about Hillary Clinton? He did not choose her as SOS to Give Her a Chance. He was doing it for himself. Because she is tremendously qualified and competent and the bright light in the Obama administration. So when my brother said this about Obama wanting to give her a chance, I almost choked on my turkey and stuffing.
February 9, 2010 at 12:41 pm
I think the Hillbuzz guys should let Hillary know that even they, the most dedicated Hillary supporters ever, would not support her as
O’ s VP.
February 9, 2010 at 12:41 pm
I’m hoping that FObama is impeached from office. There just might be some impropriety found during his first term that would force him out. Yes, Biden will become president. I can live with that for a short period. I’m just wondering if that would force Pelosi as VP. Although a dreadful thought, it would open her seat in congress to someone more deserving of it.
February 9, 2010 at 2:13 pm
IF Bideon because POTUS he could pik anyone he wanted to be VP
February 9, 2010 at 3:27 pm
He has already committed perjury. He did this with the oath of office. He made certain promises and he is not keeping them… He should be impeached over that perjury.
I think that it should be made clear that the reason that there was a move to impeach Bill Clinton is that he committed perjury. He lied under oath. It was the only reason for impeachment.
February 9, 2010 at 12:44 pm
P.S. I know you guys would support Hillary herself, but I think you need to let her know that you would not support a Zero/Hillary ticket.
February 9, 2010 at 12:48 pm
SoS Clinton NEEDS to get as far away from The Won as humanly possibly.
I didn’t know that Limbaugh had picked it up…I saw it on FR. Hmmm. Rush doesn’t ‘repeat’ rumors…something must be ‘buzzing.’
First the ‘diss’ of the Supremes at the SoTU…now the INSULT of baffoonish Biden added to the highest Bench!?! (To what, place whoopie cushions under the other Justices seats?). Maybe the Court will ‘visit’ one of those BC cases.
Separation of Powers much Professsor Soetaro?
February 9, 2010 at 2:36 pm
The Ultimate display of patriotism Hillary would show is to leave the false messiah and join forces with Sarah Palin to rescue this country in 2012.
Obama is just dragging Hillary’s chances of any political future. She is getting older as time passes by…
February 9, 2010 at 12:48 pm
If Biden becomes President, I don’t think it forces Pelosi as VP. My dream is that Obama gets impeached, Biden gets sworn in, and then Hillary is chosen as VP.
At least Hillary would work. Biden could be
POTUS in name only. Hillary could actually run the country.
I think it’s the best scenario for now. I can live with Biden being POTUS. He does not hate our country.
February 9, 2010 at 5:06 pm
If Biden named Hillary as VP, there would be a GIANT target on his back – Biden is, like Quayle was, insurance. Hillary would be an INCENTIVE to “off” dear ol’ Joe….
February 9, 2010 at 12:54 pm
Hillary will never be SCOTUS because she wold have to spend too many ours researching, staying in one place, etc…it doesnt fit her temperamentally somehow. I personally would not want her on SCOTUS. I wouldnt mind her being VP to O-hole because then he might be more careful and she might moderate him but who knows? I am a deep conservative so I want someone like Clarence Thomas for president or whatever. Biden would be a silly SCOTUS guy…BTW—TELL YOUR SENATOR TO BLOCK EDWARD CHEN for his court nomination–he is a DANGER!!!
February 9, 2010 at 1:29 pm
Then he would use her–as he does President Bush–because he is not going to accept responsibility for anything. She does not need to be “neutralized” by sharing blame for his garbage. She had better stay as far away as possible.
February 9, 2010 at 1:01 pm
Do you think somehow O could or would work it out that he is placed on the SCOTUS?
February 9, 2010 at 1:03 pm
We think that’s where he really wants to be…so good question.
February 9, 2010 at 2:08 pm
Yeah…I wonder how that would work out..hmmmm…
February 9, 2010 at 3:25 pm
Why? He’s never really been a practicing lawyer, let alone judge or justice. Never published anything while being editor of the Harvard Law Review.
Wouldn’t he be aiming for head of the U.N.? Then he can travel and speechify endlessly as “world ruler” without really having to be one.
February 9, 2010 at 10:40 pm
haven’t read the whole thread so sorry if this is mentioned elsewhere, but wasn’t Utopia “president” of the Harvard Law Review and not “editor”? it was an “in name only” type of position I thought …. not defending him at all – just sayin’ it was less of an honor than editor would have been
February 9, 2010 at 3:31 pm
he does not have a law license. He would not be qualified to be on SCOTUS
February 9, 2010 at 9:03 pm
Since when is a law license a constitutional requirement? Justices don’t practice law, they make it.
February 9, 2010 at 9:37 pm
Does the SC make law? I thought that was what the legislature was for….and the SC just ruled on the constitutionality of the laws. Maybe I need School House Rock to come back on because I seriously am not sure now!
February 9, 2010 at 10:43 pm
They’re not supposed to make law, that’s for the Legislature. Justices are to interpret the law, as it applies to specific cases.
February 9, 2010 at 11:03 pm
Believe it or not, there are NO Constitutional qualifications for SCOTUS. ANYBODY can be nominated for the Court. That being said, tradition is strong here, with the American Bar Association offering an opinion on the qualifications of the nominee.
The reality is, I don’t think Biden would pass through the approval process.
February 9, 2010 at 5:09 pm
I seriously doubt he could get past the Senate hearings. Besides, they would probably REQUIRE that he provide all of the documentation that he refused to release in his run up to the Presidency. Especially in light of what has been observed over the past year.
And don’t forget, many of the current Senators served with Obama when he was a US Senator – and I get the impression that they weren’t too keen on him the short time that he was there…
February 9, 2010 at 6:56 pm
Finally someone comes out and states what I’ve been having nightmares about (and not wanted to voice at all): some sort of back-room arrangement whereby O agrees to resign in exchange for an iron-clad guarantee that he will be nominated by Biden for the SC and approved by the Senate.
How such a plan would actually be implemented with success under present circumstances (not to mention once the next Senate is seated) is a mystery — but we know how out of touch with the popular mood the White House is, so who knows what they might be inclined to try as a desperate expedient.
February 9, 2010 at 1:03 pm
Well, WJR has been talking about how Jennifer Granholm, term limited out governor of Michigan, has been vetted for Supreme Court. She’s a Canadian who ruined the state of Michigan, so why not put her on the Supreme Court? There are lots of rumors about her now being appointed. She’s anti-business, pro-tax, pro-Obama.
Biden’s an idiot. He couldn’t stand the seclusion of the SC. Plus he’d have to actually work and not wallow in the adulation of being a public official who gets rolled around in a limo with lots of cameras everywhere like a hog in heat. Plus he can’t keep his freakin’ mouth shut.
As long as we don’t lose Kennedy or a conservative, things may stay balanced.
February 9, 2010 at 1:07 pm
If Obama decides to run for the second term,
the democrats in the congress will have to try to change the voting system of the presidential election to a national election, since some states now require the candidates for running for the post of president to show the long form of their birth certificate.
February 9, 2010 at 1:28 pm
I do not believe either would take SCOTUS positions. Both are active people and Hillary in particular needs to be up and about in a leadership role. Joe doesn’t strike me as that sedentary either, or wanting to read read read all the time. Perhaps Ruth Bader Ginsberg will step down fairly soon. Not sure of who another one could be.
February 9, 2010 at 1:32 pm
It expected two will retire BUT that was before Obama dissed them. That just make one or both determined to stay on until Dr. U. is not the one nominating their replacements.
February 9, 2010 at 1:37 pm
Obama’s next SCOTUS nomination will be Cass Sunstein. This should cause immediate terror-induced projectile diarrhea for anyone that reads those words. Sunstein has ideas that would make Adolf Eichmann blush.
The Soros objective is to get as many crazy hard-leftists on the SC as possible in Utopia’s term. Ruth Bader-Ginsburg won’t last until 2012, and Stevens is 90.
February 9, 2010 at 2:21 pm
I concur.
February 9, 2010 at 11:12 pm
I don’t think so. The Scott Brown win, the popularity of the Tea Party Movement and the popularity of Sarah has sent a strong message to Republican Senators. He could not get the 2/3 vote necessary for confirmation, because anyone voting for him (except from the most liberal states) would be toast in their next election.
February 9, 2010 at 1:38 pm
Hillary is to smart to have anything to do with Obama…..
February 9, 2010 at 2:16 pm
Neither Hillary nor Biden have practiced law in so long that I think nominating either of them would go over like a turd in a punch bowl.
However, nominating Biden would put Obama in the 30s overnight. Even the Hopium addicts on farthest loony left know Biden is an idiot.
February 9, 2010 at 2:21 pm
For what it’s worth, Obama can’t “replace” Biden. The VP office is ELECTED, not appointed, so I think there would have to be an election for that spot. Or, if Biden left, Nancy Pelosi would become VP and there would be an election for her vacant seat.
February 9, 2010 at 2:26 pm
I just double checked, and he can appoint a replacement:
Section 2 of the Twenty-fifth Amendment provides that:
“Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress.”
February 9, 2010 at 3:35 pm
Kelly that is not correct. Spiro Agnew who was Nixon’s VP resigned. Gerald Ford became his replacement. He was nominated from the Senate or the Congress (I am not sure which). There was no election.
Nancy Pelosi would not automatically become the VP that is not how it worked in the past.
February 9, 2010 at 3:38 pm
Biden can be replaced only if he resigns or is removed by impeachment. Then the President can appoint a replacement, who must be approved by Congress. This is what happened when Spiro Agnew resigned as VP in Richard Nixon’s administration; Gerald Ford then became the VP. Then Gerald Ford became POTUS when Nixon resigned, creating a vacancy in the VP position. Nelson Rockefeller was then appointed and approved.
Nancy Pelosi only becomes VP the same way as Gerald Ford did. She is 3rd in line for POTUS only, and only if both the POTUS and VPOTUS are unable to serve.
The Speaker of the House is chosen by a majority vote of the majority party in the House.
February 9, 2010 at 11:15 pm
You’re correct, Gizmo. However it wouldn’t be hard to “arrange” for Joe to resign, either because of a more attractive appointment or for “personal reasons”.
February 9, 2010 at 2:21 pm
Hillary as VP would be a desperate move from Obama after Sarah clinches the GOP nomination. Other than that I don’t see the false messiah appointing her as VP. If he did not do it in 2008, he will never do it! Period!…and if Hillary accept something like that she will lose many, many supporters that hate Obama and his policies with a passion.
Not even Hillary can save Obama from a Sarah Palin conservative attack in 2012.
February 9, 2010 at 2:26 pm
Hi Boyz -
“If anyone can save the Democrats, it’s Hillary Clinton…but will she want to save them, after they backstabbed her the way they did?”
Exactly right, I think. She is too smart to get any closer to him. With the way his numbers have plummeted in 1 year, I really don’t think he will be running again.
Biden would never pass confirmation for SCOTUS. Too severe a case of foot in mouth disease.
Susan
February 9, 2010 at 2:36 pm
>>>>>There’s a better chance of Biden replacing David Letterman on the Late Show
At least Uncle Joe would be funny.
Unlike bitter, twisted Dave.
February 9, 2010 at 3:20 pm
Hey, Hillbuzz, knock it off about knitting! ;-)
Eleanor Roosevelt carried her knitting around with her at all times and she was one busy woman. Some of those nutty people in the Congress/Administration, they might chill out a bit if they were forced to knit a cap for the homeless or a hard-working soldier in Afghanistan everytime they got the urge to do something nutty that puts us further into debt.
February 9, 2010 at 3:37 pm
or at least knit a square for blankets to be given to the poor…. then they might have done something.
February 9, 2010 at 11:16 pm
Actually, I like to crochet.
February 9, 2010 at 3:32 pm
I think Hillary would make an amazing Justice. However, I also think this will benefit Obama, taking Hillary permanently out of the election picture. Which is exactly why he will do it.
February 9, 2010 at 3:38 pm
Hillary has not been practising law, and she has no experience on the bench. This is why she would not qualify.
February 9, 2010 at 3:40 pm
This is where I break company with the fabulous folks running this site. I am not, and have never been, and will never be, a fan of the Clintons in any way, shape or form. Hope this doesn’t get me banned! ;-)
Hillary a justice on the SCOTUS? Based on what? Being Mrs. Bill Clinton? Serving a partial term as Senator? Having a checkered legal career? She has no judicial experience of any kind. This a permanent no-go.
Hillary will never consent to be Hopey-Changey’s VP. She knows he’s toast. She’s smart enough to build up her bona fides by being SoS, and is smartly distancing herself from him. I am sure she will run against him in 2012 — and win at least the Democratic nomination, but at the risk of losing the black and radical left vote because, as our hosts correctly point out, anyone who disagrees with Obama is a RAAAAACIST.
Yes, I could see her as governor somewhere — anywhere — heck, she convinced a bunch of New Yorkers on her state listening tour that as Senator she would bring jobs back to northern New York (crickets chirping) and stay for her entire term, and they believed her! But I don’t think that political mode will work in flyover country at all.
And I am also not sure that she will survive the sea change in American politics at the moment. She is part of the old guard against which the nation is collectively rebelling, and her star is tarnished by the past and fading fast (rightly or wrongly). Bad timing, bad karma, waiter brought French toast instead of pancakes, whatever.
I don’t think a Hillary versus Sarah match-up will ever happen. Neither, in my opinion, are presidential material. Good for whipping up support and energizing people, but not quite the bearing of a Margaret Thatcher or a Golda Meir (sorry, dating myself here).
Sorry for the long digression . . . .
Kind regards from Zurich!

I smell a rat. Leaks like this are strategicly placed. There is ALWAYS a motive. What could that be? Who leaked this info and why? Is it possible that he’s trying to convince SOS Clinton to take the position so she’s not a threat to him in 2012? Is it possible he’s leaking the info so that he lets the Hillary supporters know that he thinks that highly of her? And/or is it possible that he is/has been hearing that she will be leaving SOS shortly and wants to tuck her away in the Supreme closet so she can’t oppose him in 2012 and/or she can’t divulge any of the errors of his ways.
I sincerely believe that SoS Clinton is too smart to allow him to marginalize her. On the other hand, she might believe she can accomplish more by being a Justice than in any elected office. She’s all about the end product. She is a results driven person. She’s still a youthful healthy person and could be on the court for 20 plus years and she might want to be remembered in the history books for some of her judicial opinions.
The inclusion of Joe Biden in the “leak” is a red herring. It’s all about Hillary. And while it is tradition to pick a judicial scholar or at least a sitting judge for the Supreme Court, there have been a few Justices that weren’t even lawyers.
I don’t think anyone can keep her out of public life. Think about Antonin Scalia. He often gives public speeches at law schools. He is a well known gourmet around DC. He is known to be a great guest at a the DC soirees. He just doesn’t chat about the law or the cases before him.

We have a lot in common, JerseyGram. I’m a gram of 8 granddaughters, and I was born and raised in Jersey. Love that state! Wish I could afford to live in my home town!

first time commentor, enjoying your site… also, mom of 2 beautiful biracial kids… just wondering if “bi-facial” would be a better way of describing what we don’t like about Obama?

Difficult to see. Always in motion is the future.
With 41 Republican votes, I don’t see Joltin’ Joe Biden being able to get a cloture vote. And I agree with you about Hillary: not a job she may be interested in at this time.

I could see Hillary challenging Obama if the moderate Democrats break from the WH and decide he’s too radical with the Chicago thug gang getting more egotistical (if that’s even humanly possible) and they form a wedge to challenge him. Obama’s inner circle has itself in a bubble and they are out of touch so much…The Clintons are not out of touch. If anything I learned in the 90s…they pay attention to “the flyover states” as Rush likes to say. BUT…so many Democrats crapped on Hillary how could they possibly have the guts to go crawling back? Well two of them are dead (that sounds cold hearted but it’s true). The Kennedy’s endorsement doesn’t seem very meaningful anymore does it? Could some karma be in order here? I don’t know. I’m a Republican so I can’t say I’d particularly be thrilled to see the Clintons roar back to power with a smack down of the BO gang of thugs but at the same time…it’d be fun to watch, wouldn’t it?
People are so disgusted with the liberals and their arrogance toward “The people” I don’t think the Clintons would even be wise to try a comeback when it’s this hostile.
My fantasy would be for Hillary to flip the Dems off and become an Independent and run with a Republican president…but that’s not gonna happen. It sure would be nice if it could happen, though, and it would be great for the country to actually get things done. This partisan divide is getting NOTHING done. So wouldn’t it make sense that two people from each side coming together for the good of the country…how could that be beatable? It would be awesome.
The leftist thugs are so violent…I can’t imagine their reaction. They’d probably take California hostage and form their own country…lol….

Hillary wouldn’t want VP, IMO. It’s a huge step down from SOS, NY Senator, First Lady of the USA, First Lady of Arkansas, and every other public service position, paid or unpaid, she’s held during the last 30 years. Add the bho the fraud poison factor, and Hillary knows to rise above that cesspool.
As for SCOTUS, naw. This was Hillary’s time; she won the 2008 primaries fair and square while the DNC cabal and Congressional slimeballs, ACORN/SEIU thugs and fascist OFA crazies, cowardly female media and just as cowardly male media conspired to steal it from her. The passive, complacent, uninformed public living on the clay-feet, false-god model, also helped put a fraud in OUR WH by not doing any vetting. SCOTUS would also be a step down.

Here’s my prediction:
Obama will not run for a second term. Several states have enacted laws that require Presidential candidates to produce documentation that they are Constitutionally qualified before they can be placed on the ballot.
The Dems will nominate Hillary, primarily to diffuse Sarah Palin’s popularity.
The Repubs will not have the b@lls to nominate a woman for President, so will nominate a white or brown man, with Palin on the ticket as VP again.
However, this time they will allow Palin to be herself instead of “over-handling” her the way the McCain staffers did.
All-in-all, it will be an interesting election!
