Starting with Joe Biden, the current Vice President, who appears functionally illiterate most of the time.
Sound it out, Biden.
It’s not like the words are all phoenetically written out for you on cue cards, and this is a historic moment being televised and to be remembered forever or anything.
How hard is it to get something like this right in one take?

I thought Joe Biden has a stutter? I remember reading that the nuns at his school used to make fun of him, or something. It might explain the issue, as it can resurface when you’re speaking in public as an adult.
I sometimes have that problem, and it’s quite hurtful if people say you’re illiterate because of it. (And they do.)Biden does not know when to shut the hell up, and doesn’t seem to have an edit function, but I doubt he’s illiterate.

Having flubbed a few lines while reading in front of others myself, I can’t be too critical about Biden screwing this one up.
That being said, he did fine on the first reading, so maybe he was choking on the words about defending and upholding the Constitution.

What an idiot! I wondered if he was drunk and/or the air was too think up there on the higher level he was standing on (which seemed awfully silly).

Well, in all fairness, I have been known to flub up some words, even if they are written down. Sometimes your mouth moves faster than your brain, and vice versa.

Have you seen the story coming out about Todd Palin’s supposed influence on governess of AL. There are alleged e-mails that the authors of the new book Game Change say prove he was very influential over Sarah. I just saw this on home page (MSM). This really ticks me off. The LSM just continue to bash her at every turn. They are very afraid of her popularity with the American people, so if they can make the electorate come to the “conclusion” that she has “too much baggage to be electable” they have done their jobs. How do we fight this when the LSM have such influence on the American people. I was just thinking about your very Liberal friend that you guys care for and it hit me that he is like most of the populist and believe what the progressive spoon out to the masses. I am so sick and tired of feeling that maybe we can’t turn this around because of all the ill informed voters. When you talk to liberals all they spout out are the various talking points for that day or week. I know this because two of my three children are college educated. The first is working on his PHD and the other has her college diploma with her major in chemistry. These two are rabid liberals and Obots. My other child is just now at the age of 30 going back to school with the goal of becoming a dentist. He is a conservative and I am hoping he won’t come out of college indoctrinated as a progressive as well. My husband and I feel we can block the other two, but if he turns then one vote will go the wrong way. I blame the colleges because most of the professors are very liberal. Thank you for letting me rant.

rushmoregirl – Just a small correction, as I have to admit that it took me a second to parse the term “governess of AL”. I think the title of Governor is gender-neutral and while I’m sure the folks in Alabama would have looooved having Sarah as their state’s chief executive, the abbreviation for Alaska is AK.
Also some encouragement: I’d be quite surprised if your 30-year-old hasn’t settled in pretty well to their social/political views. My two kids are in their mid-20′s and have certainly formed some firm (and usually well-supported) opinions about the way things work in society.

Yeah, I guess what I meant by referencing my kids was that the two that are Obots went into college right after High School and the 30yr. is just going now. That said, both my husband and I are conservative and always vote. We always discussed politics in the home. I guess what I am saying is that the higher education system is a very liberal place and some young people do go in conservative and come out liberal. 30yr old probably won’t, but who knows.

I’m proving that we do not elect the most qualified person for the job in politics. That is simply something we say every time we discuss female candidates. Once a woman has advanced degrees and a mile long resume, we change the rules. Suddenly we want something fresh and new, inexperienced, we like the guy precisely because he has no qualifications, he isn’t part of politics. Suddenly we want “change,” not experience.
If we actually voted for people based on their qualifications there would be no Joe Bidens, no President Obama.

He’d have to try to dump Biden well before 2012 to have a chance at wooing Hillary. I say “try” because the president can’t just fire the VP because they are separately elected to Constitutional positions, so even if Obama wanted Biden to step aside, he wouldn’t have to.
Even then, I doubt she’d take it (especially if she thinks she could mount a successful primary challenge against him).

Before I had decided to support Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination, I remember thunking of Democrats that I might be able to support. One of them was Joe Biden, mainly because I thought that he would be a supporter of our military. I’m now glad that he never got the opportunity to be the Democrat candidate. I would still rather listen to Joe Biden than the snake oil salesman Obama, though. When I see FObama on TV, the mute goes on, or more likely than not, the channel gets changed. Funny, but I didn’t have the same reaction to George Bush. My reaction has everything to do with FObama’s politics of deceit and stealth. I will read about him to keep myself updated concerning his antics, but watching/listening to him is of no interest to me.
