UPDATE; Nice sleuthing…here’s the video we are talking about below. There are several cuts of it, it seems, because the one above does not have Mary Landrieu and Ben Nelson in it, but the version airing in Chicago does indeed include a nice swipe at those two.
*******
Tonight, we spent a few hours volunteering, doing one of the cleaning gigs for people our friend Lionel used to help take care of, who are too sick to clean for themselves. One of these people isn’t especially nice, but we give him as much slack as he needs because we know he’s in a lot of pain. He’s also a raging Liberal, which we also overlook. We even let him get away with saying nasty things about people we support, like Sarah Palin, who he rails against as the new Anita Bryant. Anyone else in the world doing this would be on the receiving end of some major correction, but we’re not going to argue with a guy with AIDS, who can barely scream and yell hateful things anymore because his cough is so bad.
In life, you pick your battles. While it’s a struggle to hold our tongue, ever, there’s just no point in arguing back with a shut-in…and one who is very sick and in pain to boot. So, we just listen to him rant and wail as we vacuum and dust for him. But, we do remind this guy that no matter what he says about Palin, or any Republican, we bet she (and they) would pray for him if she knew he was in this much pain. Even if he really hates her as much as he says he does (a woman he’s never met, and knows almost nothing about, but hates her because Keith Olbermann and The Advocate told him to)…she will still pray for him. We believe that is true. Just like Hillary Clinton probably prays for people who say horrible things about her as well, especially if she knows they are sick. The Liberals just don’t get stuff like this. For those of you who repeatedly wonder why we like both Hillary and Palin, this is one of those reasons — no matter how much hate is flung at them by trolls, these two never change who they are, and never fling hate back.
Well, in the middle of all this, an ad came up on the TV that this guy paused mid-tirade to listen to.
It was stunning.
We wish we could find it on YouTube, and we didn’t get the PAC’s name that ran it, but it was on during the evening news on NBC here in Chicago, around 1020pm or so CST. Maybe one of you could call or write to the Chicago NBC affiliate and find out more information on this ad.
It showed a series of images of Democrats in Congress, highlighting the sickening back room reals and bribes of Mary Landrieu (the Louisiana Purchase) and Ben Nelson (the Cornhusker Kickback). The ad talked about another 4 Trillion dollars on the horizon that’s going to be wasted on failing banks and other companies that are going under, and will go under, no matter what the government does. No jobs will be created or saved. It will all be more wasted money…good thrown down the drain after bad.
The ad is very effective.
So much so that this Liberal man, who does NOT ever listen to the other side of any argument, actually asked what the ad was talking about. We had to explain what Landrieu and Nelson did, because of course none of this has ever been talked about by Anderson Cooper. We told him that Ben Nelson whored himself to Harry Reid and the White House and sold his vote, as well as his soul, to ram through Healthcare Rationing in the week before Christmas.
This was complete news to this Liberal. He had never heard any of this.
We then went through all the other points raised in the ad, and he just shook his head over and over again.
Then, he got quiet for a while, and we finished up putting all the cleaning supplies away and put a meal in the microwave for him before we got our stuff ready to go.
As we plated that up and brought it over to him on the TV tray, he sat there, and we could tell it was really hard for him to process what he was about to say, but he told us, “They were supposed to be different. It was supposed to be about Change. But, they can’t be doing things like that guy in Nebraska, whoever he is. That’s not right. Where is all this money coming from and where is it going?”.
We told him we’d talk more about this next time, and that we’d try to find out who was behind the ad, because we missed it and this was the first time we saw something like this on Chicago TV (but, as we’ve noted, we don’t watch TV much anymore). The ad closed by asking viewers to call Senators Dick Durbin and Roland Burris and tell them the Democrats are out of control and destroying the country. It gave their phone numbers.
The next time we go to clean for this guy, we’re going to bring him those phone numbers. He’s home all day, and he’s a committed Liberal. If HE, with no prodding from us, starts calling Durbin and Burris to give them Holy Hell over the reckless spending and out of control Congress, then Democrats are in way more trouble than they realize.
Seriously.
We don’t know if you get just how big a deal this is.
The man we were with tonight is as Liberal as they come. He is filled with hate for Republicans. He’s so sick, he’s long since stopped being a rational person, and rants and raves all day about everything, lashing out at everyone because he’s so angry at the world that he is sick. It is very, very hard for us to deal with him and listen to his tirades.
So, if a political ad was so effective that it broke through to HIM, and it made HIM question the Liberals he loves and the Democrat party he’s still sworn his blood oath to, then that’s an ad that should strike abject terror into the hearts of everyone at the DNC.
It is THAT good.
Can anyone find it?

You guys need to see this. NBC is at it again. I don’t understand how any person of color works there.

You need to take a look at this. I honestly don’t understand how any minority would work for NBC.

I doubt they have anyone in to answer the phones at this hour — I can call tomorrow morning if no one has identified it yet.

God bless you for what you do to help. Hospice work cannot ever be easy – you are providing dignity – the greatest of all the temporal graces.
I have argued until I’m blue in the face with my liberal progressive friends – and I do not bombard them with contrarian views – I take care to send them news and links that I think might be best able to pique their interest based upon the quality of the info provided and in keeping with their own particular interests.
In almost every case, I am told that they never look at what I give them – that their minds are made up on a particular issue, and anyway, their news intake is minimal, and hey – they never hear this stuff in the MSM, when they even bother to be troubled by the intake of any news whatsoever.
Perhaps seeing these commercials on MSM channels might break through?
On the other hand, perhaps this gentleman is now in a place where “the world as it should be” is no longer operative, thus he’s beginning to question what he once viewed as reality?

Darn, I’ve been searching for half an hour for this mysterious ad that I cannot wait to see.
But along the way, I ran across the column below dated Feb. 2, 2010. Get this: it is authored by the editors at NPR!
Please – someone – check it out and tell me it’s not a mirage:

Granted, Bush & the then-majority Republicans opened the door on this spending binge. But to the extent that NoBama and the Democrats have opened the floodgates is breath-taking!
Don’t forget that Geithner, before being elevated to SecTreas, was the President of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. It was HIS job to have oversight over the actions of all the New-York-based big banks and financial houses that all failed!!
Yet for all his supposed financial expertise, he can’t even figure out his own taxes? And then he gets a PASS?

I have been doing some research on Obama’s floor speeches about the spending while Bush was in office. The results are very interesting. He was complaining that Bush was not spending enough. So, it is pretty funny that now he is using that as a cornerstone of our problems when had it been up to him, we would have spent more.

Do you have any links to share?
I’d love to see, hear what BO had to say as a US senator.
February 5, 2010 at 2:51 pm
Yes please – links and sources – I NEED quotes!! Too many of my lib friends forget that during the campaign Sen Obama was URGING the senate to vote yes on TARP! I need quotes of Obama saying this stuff – going to show them to my friends without saying who said it and asking them if they can guess :P I truly enjoy performing social experiments on libs. I know I shouldn’t, but it’s too much FUN!

I’m still trying to figure out how this loser from parts unknown (how many days was he a senator before running for office?) beat the Clinton machine?
To give the proper reference, I did hear this from Glenn Beck radio today, but he never answered except to say Dr. Utopia was well connected.
Better connected than Hillary??

Indeed. Sometimes in one ear and out the other is the only solution. I’ll say a quick prayer that the Lord soften his heart.

I too was up in the middle of the night and saw the ad and was SHOCKED to see Durbin and Burris’ phone numbers on screen. My initial reaction was “Oh sure, like they care, they are so in the swamp for Obama”, but if this will start to get any traction, it will be a very good thing. Thanks for letting the people out there know what is what.

This may be the ad you are looking for. It seems to be playing in many States. In Wisconsin it is targeting Senators Kohl and Feingold.

May God bless you guys. You’re sacrificing and you’re serving. Even if you’ve reached out to one person, it’s one more than I’ve done these days. You never know what happens from reaching just one person. You have made your service unconditional – you tolerate the other person’s rants and complains, and you keep serving. I am hubbled by your willingness to do serve.

Just saw one of the ads against Udall and Bennett in Colorado. Very powerful! Also, Mister Lyin’ lips will be on his way to stump for Bennett and not the other democrat, I believe his name is Romanoff, whom I like because he does not back Obama’s agenda; hence, the stump for Bennett. Should be interesting.
