We’re just going to answer this question right now: Christians.
Christians will be in Haiti helping rebuild that country, working in deplorable conditions, and, frankly, giving every last bit of themselves to rebuild Port-au-Prince and relieve as much suffering as possible.
George Clooney will take his beard back to Italy, or wherever he goes with it (or her, depending on how you want to define that), on his private jet, probably snacking on roast peacock and baby seal, all the while lambasting the rest of the masses for their carbon footprints and general thoughtlessness.
All of the other Hollywood telethon wonders will do likewise, as the ME MEEE MEEEE! Oscar season rolls into town, and Haiti slips from the headlines.
Liberals don’t build things. They don’t get their hands dirty. They just attack people, call them RAAACISTS! when they don’t agree with the Liberal talking points, and then get back into their limousines to ride twelve feet to the red carpet.
More and more we think about the difference between the way we are personally treated by the Left and the Right. To be blunt, neither extreme likes gays all that much. Liberals are smart enough to put on a good face about it in public, but behind closed doors they make their jokes, too, and can be far crueler than you could ever imagine. The Right’s foolish because — and we honestly believe this — conservatives are less prejudiced, reactionary, and hateful than Liberals…but they just don’t know how to do good PR. Maybe it’s because conservatives are largely quiet, on the whole, and tend to mind their own business…so the random zealots who condemn people like us to fire and brimstone and eternal suffering (what, like having to watch MSNBC?) get more airplay.
As we’ve said before, about the worst thing a Republican ever did to us was tell us they were going to pray for us “to get better”, so we would suddenly one day wake up and be all about Ann Hathaway, and not focused on how last-season her Oscar dress is.
Sorry, Ann, neither you nor Michelle Williams are why we watch Brokeback Mountain over and over again. Though, Ang Lee’s cinematography WAS beautiful, it’s all about the Jakey-G, people.
Who did the Liberals in Hollywood give the Oscar to the year Brokeback was up for Best Picture?
That’s right. Crash. A movie noone really cared about then, and doesn’t remember now.
Remind us why Liberals are so much better than Republicans again, for gays, or for anything else. While you’re at it, please explain why Christians are so persecuted by the media, and so maligned day in and day out…and yet these people jump into the fray when people need help.
While Liberals wait in the limousine for the best lighting to step out, for their photo op, to tell the cameras how sad they are about things like Haiti.
And how it’s all Bush’s fault.

Amen. Christians are always bashed and they are the ones to be found working in dangerous dirty conditions for the least among us. I am sure other religions do as much but frankly, christians are amazing.
Liberals have been my bane forever; i grew up a patriotic kid who got laughed at and made fun of at school where the libs reigned but i would never let them get away with anything without a debate and most of them couldnt defend a thing. I believe liberalism is a mental disorder or psychological disorder not sure which.
January 27, 2010 at 3:27 pm
I can help out on this one, this is my field. While off the top of my head I can’t think of a diagnosable disorder, (I will do a little research tho) there is no question that a distortion of reality is required.
My favorite definition of optimum mental health is where one does not NEED the world to be other than it really is.
A liberal will never fit this definition. They are too busy distorting reality, bashing reality, and ignoring reality while denigrating those who are connected to reality.
Go figure.
To paraphrase on the boyz, being liberal involves pixie dust, unicorns, and utopia. Not reality.
January 27, 2010 at 12:17 pm
Thank you for stating this. I’m not a devoted Christian, but I was raised in a fundamental Baptist church and the watchword was always the biblical quote ‘ye without sin be the first to cast stones’ (something like that anyway).
As a woman I was always appalled how unions in public would profess to be dedicated to equal rights for women in the workplace, yet get those same guys in the hospitality room of the conference and you would be appalled at their real views of women (‘a piece of tail’ and women are really only good in one room of the house – the bedroom)was the general train of the conversation – and don’t even open up the conservation about minorities. And the next day, these same guys would be on the platform condemning any conservative for being old school, stuck in the muds and of course racist.
Once I know longer had to give these fools my money I was a happy person.
January 27, 2010 at 12:19 pm
I meant NO longer, not KNOW – brain freeze! Yikes.
January 27, 2010 at 12:17 pm
Ha. It was always bush’s fault, it is bush’s fault and it will always be bush’s fault. The whole Bush’s fault or more general republicans fault theme is now one of my lookouts, or tells. The person or group using that needs very skeptical secocnd looks and very intense scrutiny.
I was revolted by the final years of the republican stewardship and very happy to see him leave but I do not feel it is all his fault. In many ways he was a good president. I just wish he had had more spine and had not allowed Gen Shinseki or Sec state Powell to be treated so shabbily, amongst other complaints. I also realize that a President is only one person and there are thousands making and implementing policy underneath them that they have no idea about until the headlines hit.
New reader, new poster hi and hello. Well done so far and keep up the good work.
January 27, 2010 at 12:27 pm
I am sorry to reply to my own post but i do not see an edit button and realized i forgot something very important.
Insert “forever ‘n ever, amen” after the line about Bush’s fault. forgot that and it was the biggest snark-indicator.
Multi-tasking listening to cspan stream of the Geithner questioning is my only defense.
Thank you and have a wonderful day :D
January 27, 2010 at 2:00 pm
Liberals need a straw man. Their entire source of power is based on “victimology”. They need to create bad guys and victims, so they can be the good guys who “rescue” people.
January 27, 2010 at 2:02 pm
You know what, they are kind of like a virus.
Not too long ago, somebody created a virus that actually looked like anti-virus software. Once installed on your PC, it kept bringing up it’s “virus detected” screen, prompting you to go to a website and enter your credit card information to get rid of viruses that didn’t exist. That’s basically the modern, progressive liberal game plan.
So sad to see how far the Democratic party has fallen since the days where they were actually the party of the little guy.
January 27, 2010 at 7:46 pm
Wow. You descirbed liberalism to a “T”.
January 27, 2010 at 12:18 pm
Hillbuzz guys: remember 9/11 this is a book about Fr. Mychal-you are not alone, passoniate advocate of the downtrodden and suffering. That is you. I read this book, lot of insights for all of us.
Father Mychal Judge: An Authentic American Hero
Father Mychal Judge became an instant American hero when he died while administering the “last rites” to a victim of the September 11 World Trade Center attacks, but even before that grim day, there was much about the Franciscan priest to commend to posterity. Through interviews with fellow friars, close friends and others, Ford, a BBC journalist specializing in religious affairs and author of a 1999 biography of the late Henri Nouwen (Wounded Prophet), tells why the New York City fire chaplain was beloved by many, while infuriating others. A recovering alcoholic and an acknowledged homosexual who struggled with living a chaste, celibate life, Father Judge was known to those he served as a passionate advocate of the downtrodden and suffering. Although he had a penchant for attracting and even seeking the limelight, friends recall him as a humble man in touch with his own humanity. Ford boldly compares him to the founder of the Franciscans, St. Francis of Assisi, who was said to bear the stigmata, or wounds of Christ’s crucifixion. Ford even seems to suggest that Father Judge’s homosexuality was comparable to the stigmata, a simile that, while poetic, may be a bit of a stretch for some readers. Ford has done his best to paint a complete picture of the man, though many of the recollections he includes are rather repetitive. Despite that, this is an intriguing biography that should hold appeal for a wide readership.
January 27, 2010 at 12:36 pm
Every time I see that picture of the fire fighters carrying him out, I start to cry.
January 27, 2010 at 2:21 pm
Excellent book recommendation!
I’d like to add one in for those who have young-ish children (about 7-9): “He Said Yes: The Story of Father Mychal Judge” by Kelly Ann Lynch.
It’s a beautiful story of his life and spiritual journeys. The last part renders me to tears each time I read it to my children.
Such a beautiful man.
January 27, 2010 at 4:09 pm
Susan-Thank you-I will read that book. I love Fr. Mychal, I believe true compassion come from people who have suffered, and from that pain they want to alleviate it in others.
January 27, 2010 at 6:44 pm
I love that book!!
January 27, 2010 at 12:18 pm
You guys keep on telling the truth! And I am praying for y’all – for God to protect you from the demented liberal-progressives.
January 27, 2010 at 12:20 pm
Michelle:
Fr. Mychal Judge was my pastor as a child growing up in northern New Jersey. I can attest that he was truly a compassionate, charitable man, who would literally give the coat off his back to anyone who needed it. May he rest in peace.
January 27, 2010 at 12:51 pm
I loved the book about Fr. Mychal, what a great guy and wonderful human being, and I thought he was so handsome. This is what the book was about-Fr. working tirelessly to help his fellow human beings, with whatever they needed-physical, temporal, spiritual, a kind word.
I live in South Florida and I want everyone to know that the Salesian priests and nuns have been working there forever, Mother Teresa’s Sisters of Charity, many Christian churches-various denominations, civic groups,http://www.frank-mckinney.com/caring_project.aspx,the donations collected by churches, synagogues around the world.
We consider the Haitian people are neighbors, friends and co-workers, wonderful hard working people-I’m glad the entire world is seeing their plight, which started with corrupt governments for decades.
January 27, 2010 at 12:30 pm
I’ve noticed in the coverage of Haiti that every time they show some Christian group, like the Salvation Army, or some of the church orphanages, or Catholic charities, those people mention that they have been there for years, toiling away, completely without fanfare.
The celebrities show up for the spotlight, but those Christian charities were there LONG before they came, and will be there long after they’ve moved on to the next photo-op for their boundless Liberal compassion.
I don’t care if one agrees with all their theology or not, those people deserve credit for what they do, instead of constant bashing.
January 27, 2010 at 6:46 pm
They have been there for decades.
They.. Catholics and Christians work very hard in Haiti.
Very sad place.
January 27, 2010 at 9:47 pm
Hi…no offense intended, but Catholics are Christians.
January 27, 2010 at 12:33 pm
This agnostic says, Amen!
Years ago Andrew Sullivan had the MOST unintentionally hilarious article ever published, in the NYT Sunday magazine.
He went “undercover” to infiltrate a Christian Coalition dinner and found friendly, witty, warm, intelligent human beings, and not small-minded bigots.
In effect, all AS was saying, was that he had never met true-believing Christians before. He was not aware that he was admitting his own small-minded bigotry.
If all the rich liberals/leftists gathered together and pooled their resources, they could easily spend real money to vastly improve a Chicago, Detroit or Buffalo. They could build new housing and sponsor entire hospitals to give care to those in need.
But they don’t. They DON’T. They really, really don’t care about others. They only care about what others will think of them.
They want credit for the right intentions (according to their lights) without hob-nobing with hoi polloi or spending a thin dime, cheapskates that they are.
And they want ME to pay for implementing their intentions.
Geeze ….
January 27, 2010 at 12:34 pm
I love you guys.
January 27, 2010 at 12:34 pm
I have said it a hundred times and it’s still as true as it ever was: It is much, much easier to be a gay man in a room full of Republicans than a Republican in a room full of gay men.
January 27, 2010 at 3:42 pm
I’m a straight woman (conservative but not a repub) and I say AMEN to that.
I live in a very liberal area and to a great extent have been “in the closet” to borrow the phrase. I often find myself undercover at deeply liberal gatherings. I am in awe of the things I hear. Of course, since they don’t realize that the “ememy” walks among them they are very fre with their vitriol.
Over the last year I have “come out” and am still amzed by the things that are said. I was asked to leave a party because I mentioned that I didn’t like Obama or his plans for healthcare!
OTOH, when getting together with my conservative friends I hear no meanness, no unwillingness to accept those of differing opinions. I agree with Tammy Bruce that the hostility to “otherness” and the interest in shutting down ideas is on the lft, not the right. This applies to all issues, from healthcare policy and the economy to social issues.
January 27, 2010 at 12:42 pm
Wait a minute. Before you get yourself in a lather about how wonderful the Christians are, stop and think about what is really going on in Haiti with these Christian “missionaries.” First of all, Haiti is almost 90% CATHOLIC. Catholics are Christians too, you know. So what we are seeing is an influx of Pentacostal and other denomination Protestants who are trying to move in on the Catholic Church’s turf. They want to establish a beach head right there in Catholic Haiti. I’m sure they are doing a lot of good and will continue to help these suffering people long after the TV cameras are gone. And I applaud them for that! But there is another motive here and for folks who are so politically savvy I’m surprised you don’t see that.
January 27, 2010 at 1:09 pm
Keep in mind, though, that much of the Haitian population while Roman Catholic also practices vodou (voodoo) so that may be why there are non-Catholic groups there to proselytize. (BTW, my family is Roman Catholic so I have dealt with the “Catholics aren’t Christian” stuff a lot. Not cool.)
January 27, 2010 at 1:15 pm
I think they mean Christian in the sense of the charity being religious, not government or celebrity “charity”.
January 27, 2010 at 6:20 pm
TOMMY BATES( FULL GOSPEL PASTOR AND EVANGELIST) IS AS “CHRISTIAN AS THEY COME –HE HAS BEEN GOING TO HAITI FOR ABOUT 30 YEARS FOR 2 -3 WEEKS SEVERAL TIMES A YEAR AND HIS CHURCH AN SEVERAL OTHERS IN THE COMMUNITY HAVE GIVEN CLOTHES, MONEY, ECT. ALSO THAT IS JUST ONE OF A LOT BESIDE CATHOLIC I HEARD ON FOX THAT THERE WEE 750 FAITH BASED GROUPS THERE…
THERE HAS BEN MULTI BILLION DOLLARS FUNNELED INTO HAITI FOR YEARS— TO NO AVAIL– IT GOES TO THE CORRUPT GOVT—TALK ABOUT NEEDING A COMPLETE OVERHALL—–I ALWAYS GIVE TO A FAITH BASED GROUP(KCM.ORG) NOT THE SALVATION ARMY OR “CELEBRATY FUND” I KNOW WHERE MY FUNDS GO THAT WAY!!!!!
January 27, 2010 at 7:29 pm
My ex father in law is a christian missionary.. he went to Haiti a bazillion times a year forever.
I am a Catholic and Haiti being portrayed as this Catholic nation.. isnt exactly true. They think they can mix Catholocism with voodoo…
All Christans in Haiti try very hard to comfort, feed and clothe those poor people.
I would never give money to some celebrity feel good thing.. they wont follow up to make sure it goes to the right hands. (remember the 9-11 celebrity nonsense …ugh)
I give to groups (Catholic) already on the ground and know exactly what is needed since they have been there for decades.
January 27, 2010 at 12:43 pm
Wow! Fabulous post (as usual). When the quake hit in Haiti, there was a medical mission team from our town down there. As long as I can remember, someone I work with, or go to church with or just know— has gone down to Haiti. As a combination missionary and healer…. it was ‘the’ place if you were sincere in your faith and had a gift of healing.
Yet, NOW all the celebs want to hog the spotlight. Hrmpt— do it when it when no one’s watching. THOSE are the real heros.

Regarding Haiti, I saw on Fox last week a church group, I think 7 day adventist, that had secured their church area, and who ever wanted to help them rebuild, etc, they could stay there, they were pooling their $$$ to buy food/drink and looked stable happy.
Then there are the others who are waiting for something to help them.
January 27, 2010 at 1:11 pm
Hillbuzz boys are right again. These are the groups that need our support. The ones that are in it for the long haul. The ones were you know your money is going to help people for the long term. Take http://blog.teamrubiconhaiti.org for example, you can follow their work in close to real time. You can comment and offer advice and see what they are all about. Plus I’m not worried that in six monthes there will be some UN type sex for food scam in the news, or finding out ten cents on the dollar goes to the Haitians and the rest goes to the charity for costs.
January 27, 2010 at 5:03 pm
I second Team Rubicon! They are living fearless love.
And here’s the work of a Mormon (I think) millionaire, Jeremy Johnson, who decided to put his personal jets and big bucks to good use:
http://www.utahhaitirelief.org/
http://apnews.excite.com/article/20100123/D9DD48381.html
Here’s a little Catholic hospital, Hopital Sacre Coeur, in Milot, Haiti, so competent that US armed forces have been airlifting the worst-injured directly to it:
http://www.crudem.org/
Amazing!
January 27, 2010 at 9:07 pm
On the news tonight many children and other groups are collecting shoes to walk in Haiti, they have collected tons, some are already being delivered. Good time to look around the house for sneakers and sandals, thongs etc.
January 27, 2010 at 1:26 pm
Well one thing we know – it sure will not be Hechelle and all those Hollywood Loonies! er mini-stars that is!
January 27, 2010 at 1:28 pm
It occurred to me, and I blogged on this at the moment my little brain had the thought, that George Clooney probably hasn’t learned thing one from his 9/11 telethon days. He was amazed and offended when Bill O’Reilly (an asshole if ever one lived) suggested that Clooney had a responsibility to oversee the spending of the money that had been raised. If I’m giving my money to an organization based on the endorsement of someone I admire, then yes, I doggone well do expect some sense of responsibility from the celebrity!
As to conservatives being kinder to gays than liberals, why wouldn’t we be? We understand what it’s like to be the underdog! Despite the propoganda to the contrary, we aren’t all rich! In fact, in the Congress, the richest members are Dems! But the convenient lie must be maintained, doesn’t it?
January 27, 2010 at 1:40 pm
Gayle-don’t feel that you are alone as an underdog-Republican, half of us Dems feel the same way. Obama and minions are the most corrupt, inept folks I ever saw bar none. We fellow underdogs are rallying to Tea Parties, Republicans. The Dems- the most abusive use of power that I have ever seen.
January 27, 2010 at 8:59 pm
Michelle, I’m with you there about Obama and his minions. I’m a life-long democrat – for almost 40 years when the 2008 primaries started. I have never been so disgusted and disillusioned with much of the leadership in the democratic party. They not only ignored their base, they insulted them and dismissed them. They had a really good candidate in Hillary Clinton whom they savaged as well as all of those who supported her. After Hillary dropped out I turned to the republicans for the “first time in my adult life”.
I wonder how future historians will view this time era in American politics?
January 27, 2010 at 9:11 pm
I live in Florida now, I wrote in Hillary (it was considered a protest vote). That election was beyond corrupt google GiGi Gaston’s “We will not be Silenced”, it is 4 parts, beyond shocking what was done to Hillary. I think half the Dems off to Tea Party-Republicans if they want to play South Side Cesspool Corruption politics count me out of their criminal activities. Obama will destroy the Democratic party, mark my words they are going down, the only question now how many idiots are willing to go with him.
January 27, 2010 at 5:56 pm
What I love the most is that conservatives are always rich who do not care about the middle class or the poor and on the other hand they are also trailer park living, toothless and uneducated. I guess it all depends on what they are told to write on what day.
January 27, 2010 at 1:42 pm
Oh they will wear some colored ribbon on their clothing at oscars to show their all about haiti. I wonder what color it will be. A ribbon is not doing something! It is lazy & pathetic, but you know they will do it. LOL
January 27, 2010 at 1:43 pm
The Bible does say we’ll be persecuted; however, let’s be honest, we also allowed it to happen. When there is a classroom with 19 Christians and one who isn’t, we allowed the one who isn’t to set the agenda. Our mistake. Many of us are compassionate and, of course, believe in our Country’s principles and values. By allowing the liberals to incrementally take over, we’ve created a monster.
Once I learned that, the whole hysterical reaction of the left started to make sense. When they were marching on Washington to keep late-term abortion legal, I thought they were nuts. I was confused because to the rational mind, that is just one small portion of the law and what is the big deal? Now, I know. They work in increments. A small slice here, a tiny fraction there and the next thing you know, their agenda is being rushed through congress and we, who are (I think) fair and rational, end up paying for it. Marginalized, mocked and slandered, we are now considered the enemy. We are also blessed, however, that they tipped their hand too soon. Personally, I think that is God at work, doing what He does. With the scales lifted from our eyes, we are now in a position to fight back. Thanks, in part,to people like you,Hillboyz, we are learning the truth and on the lookout for the tactics they use. While I cannot see myself playing their games, just knowing their moves gives me a bigger advantage over the field. We, the niave ones, are going to over-come the Left and their Alinsky tactics. You are right. We will quietly (or maybe not so quietly) go about doing what we do, but we are aware, we are ready to fight and we will win.
January 27, 2010 at 1:44 pm
“Hill Boyz? Hill Nastyz! You didn’t go up there to fish!” :D
I’ve lived in places where nearly everyone was a conservative Christian and I’ve lived in places where nearly everyone was a liberal. The Christians (of which I am one) largely disagreed with me about homosexuality, but they were polite about it and were more likely to pity me than hate me. The liberals disagreed with me about abortion, radical feminism, politics, and the prevalance of racism in America, and they were so wrapped up in their crusading zeal that they barely even thought of the people who disagreed with them as human beings.
George Clooney is an asshole. I’ve never forgotten the tacky “joke” he made about Charlton Heston’s Alzheimer’s. Charlton Heston fought in WWII and supported the civil rights of black people way before it was popular, but he disagreed with George Clooney about guns, so Clooney figured it was okay to insult a sick, elderly man because he was the “head of the National Rifle Assiciation – he deserves whatever anyone says about him.” Oh, yeah? My grandfather fought in WWII and had a whole bunch of hunting rifles and had to have several amputations on his feet and legs in the years before he died. Got anything to say about him, George? To my face?
Money and photo ops ain’t gonna save your soul.
January 27, 2010 at 2:40 pm
Clooney made obsequious self-serving remarks before the telethon, absolving himself by stating: “We can’t all go down with a shovel and get in the way…”
Jackass. That was his rationalization for staying comfy cozy in BelAir or wherever it is that self-important creep habitates.
January 27, 2010 at 2:55 pm
Hell, half of the money those celebs raised won’t even go to Haiti.
I posted about this before: I ran a celebrity event in Hollywood years ago, and they spend a huge portion of the monies on the limos to bring in the celebs, and all of the expenses that entail bringing in those celebrity “volunteers”.
I know that O’Reilly was going to try to follow up with Cloonery, but that will never happen. They’ll stone wall him.
They don’t give a shit about Haiti. They do all of this for the publicity.
You can count on that!
January 27, 2010 at 5:59 pm
I just love it how they all “grandstand” like they care more than everyone else. It says in the Bible, when you do good let no one know about it. B/c G-d will know and thats all that matters.
January 27, 2010 at 9:17 pm
“But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing” because our Father in Heaven knows all secret things.
I forgot to tell everyone. Every reporter from South Florida is told to tell the people Please tell the people Thank You, we appreciate everything that you have sent. They are very adamant about that.
January 27, 2010 at 1:44 pm
queen elizabeth has left john edwards.. ABC reporting they are legally separated.
January 27, 2010 at 1:49 pm
Amen Hillboyz!!!!!
I was so sick of seeing the left winged liberal Hollywood Elite get on TV with their millions of dollars in the bank and tell us how we should donate our money to help those in Haiti. I don’t see any of them hopping on a plane and running to Haiti to help pass out water and food to those who have lost EVERYTHING. It really is disgusting to watch the double standard of the left, and it is becoming more and more transparent. It is Christians who were immediately orgainzing planes and supplies to go to Haiti and help – along with the American Military. There are tons of medical groups going down to Haiti leaving behind their families so they can help those who have lost EVERYTHING. (Myself included). Not one Hollywood Elite has flew to Haiti to help.
Love the posts boyz. Keep it up.
January 27, 2010 at 1:56 pm
Ok, so I heard that John Travolta and his wife flew their plane with supplies, saying, “How could we not?” Good for them!
January 27, 2010 at 2:13 pm
They flew to New Orleans and did the same after Katrina.
January 27, 2010 at 4:20 pm
This is just part of what John Travolta and Kelly Preston are doing.
He added “My church has also arranged for 80 medics and 33 volunteers to go down to Haiti this week.”
Earlier a plane full of relief materials was already sent another one would soon be there. Travolta himself would be flying to Haiti soon.(Last night)
January 27, 2010 at 6:01 pm
Sandra Bullock donated 1,000,000 dollars to two organizations to help in Haiti. She also donated the same amount after 9/11. She is someone that does put her own money on the line.
January 27, 2010 at 6:07 pm
Bono…I trust Bono. He even liked George Bush because he met with him and actually talked to him and didn’t drink the celebrity Koolaid. George Bush did more for Africa than any other president before him and Bono knew that. For that I will give Bono the benefit of the doubt and trust what he says.
January 27, 2010 at 7:27 pm
I think Travolta and Preston are Scientologists. I have a friend who is Scientologist also, and they are actually quite conservative, politically.
January 27, 2010 at 1:54 pm
Thank you for that.
On a related note, have you seen coverage of the simply amazing response of the Isrealis in Haiti? For example…
http://mommylife.net/archives/2010/01/idf_israeli_fie.html
(Where is Hamas?)
January 27, 2010 at 2:06 pm
Yep. But when Obama spoke about the aid to Haiti, he listed almost every country BUT Israel, when the ones he listed have not done as much as Israel has.
He hates Israel.
January 27, 2010 at 3:55 pm
He’s anti-semitic, and so are most of the people in the White House.
They love Hamas.
And they blame the “joooos” for everything.
January 27, 2010 at 4:45 pm
I agree with your statement, but i just can’t understand Rahm Emanuel. He is a Jew, but the current Obama administration is against Israel. I don’t get it.
January 27, 2010 at 6:08 pm
I remain confused about that because Rahm Emanuel is Jewish.
January 27, 2010 at 6:52 pm
Buffalo, look at Soros he is/was a Jew too.. So much for that.
January 27, 2010 at 4:27 pm
I saw on TV the state of Israel had tents (beautiful) set up, doctors/nurses state of the art equipment-within a day or two of the earthquake. They found 10 per cent or more of the folks buried in the rubble.
Today for the people of Israel-this marks the anniversary of Auschwitz (65 years)–survivors mark Holocaust Memorial Day. May God bless and protect the State of Israel-never again is now.
January 27, 2010 at 5:06 pm
Israel has been doing miraculous work in this rescue and recovery effort. Of course, the media is barely covering it. Hatred toward Israel and Jews is on the rise. Israel bashing has become fashionable. Obama fuels this dangerous fire.

And yet, you don’t see a single Arab/Muslim country on the list of those offering aid. Not one.
Even the $cientologists are there, for all the good they do.

Jews are growing increasingly disenchanted with the Democratic Party and the Republican Jewish Coalition is gaining stature nationally as a vehicle of authentic “hope and change” within the Jewish American community.
Obama started his presidency with an astounding 83% approval rating among American Jews. Nine months later, that support had dropped to 64%. At the end of 2009, he was at 48%.

Another profound, honest assessment of our world Boyz. Well done…I wonder if Mr. Limbaugh will be quoting the “Babes” from this wonderful post?
Can I ‘channel my inner Barrack’ and give a shout out to the often overlooked, yet tireless aid givers, medical personnel, and teachers who serve thru different Catholic religious orders as Sisters?
Many of the hospitals, schools, and orphanages in Haiti were longtime Catholic missions, run by Nuns.

“please explain why Christians are so persecuted by the media, and so maligned day in and day out…”
The early Church was nourished by the blood of the martyrs. You want to talk persecution? How about Christians being used as human torches for the various and sundry entertainments staged at the Coliseum. I don’t know if Sr. Francis Borgia ever got into the deaths of the early saints, but we were spared none of the gory details.
The point is Christianity has always been a target of persecution. It is a miracle that any Christians at all still exist in the Middle East, the Coptics come to mind, somehow they were spared the Islamic purges.
As for the work that Christians do in the community:
I clearly recall when the first cases of AIDS appeared in Philadelphia. Who ministered to these sick men? The priests and brothers of Old St. Joseph’s and St. John the Evangelist. They provided comfort and care to these afflicted when HOSPITALS were turning them away. Medical personnel were afraid to have any contact with them. Does anyone remember those dark days?
As Christians are dismissed, smeared, sneered at by the “Beautiful” People, charitable organizations quietly go about their business, ministering to the needy, the sick, the neglected. All in observance of Christ’s directive: Whatsoever you do to the least of these, you do unto Me.
January 27, 2010 at 5:08 pm
What’s amazing is that Christians are being persecuted in Muslim countries and yet one hear’s barely a word from church and church organizations. It baffles the mind as much as liberal Jews who support Obama baffle the mind. The world is all upsidedown these days.

Mother Teresa’s nuns care for all the people the Hindus won’t help lest it interfere with someone’s karma. And when a person in their care dies, they carefully adhere to all of that person’s religious traditions for after death.
January 27, 2010 at 8:25 pm
The Coptics are being raped and murdered in Egypy as we speak. It’s been on the internet this past week of the huge rally in New York, I think. No MSM coverage. Go to Pamela Geller’s site Atlas Shrugged. I think she had a huge article on it last week.
January 27, 2010 at 2:08 pm
Yes, you are right, HB. After all the cameras and celebrities and John Edwards have left, the Christians will still be there helping to rebuild ….. just as they were before the earthquake.
January 27, 2010 at 2:19 pm
Christians represent the most underappreciated group of people on the planet.
American Christians especially.
For all that the progressive left wants to bash on America, blame us for everything, accuse Americans of being selfish, etc. etc…. Americans donate more money per capita than any other group of people on earth, and a huge, huge portion of that money comes from Christians.
I watched Obama stand in a church and basically belittle certain things from the Bible, while simultaneously claiming to be a Christian. I watched Obama use separation of Church and State as an excuse to have the MOST “progressive” stance on abortion in the entire Illinois state legislature. Then I watched him turn around and set up a conference call with America’s religious leaders to try to sell universal health care as a religious moral imperative.
If George Bush had set up a similar call to try to sell No Child Left Behind, the left would have eviscerated him for it. It would have been on every news station, and then they would have discussed the “fallout” for days or weeks. Of course, when Obama does it for health care, hardly a peep.
I realize the Bible says judge not lest ye be judged, but Obama’s actions lead me to believe that he views religion as a tool to manipulate minds. Or, at least, Christianity as a tool if not religion as a whole.
Combine this with all the legal battles over the word “God” and the place of Christianity in public, and it seems to me like the Christian faith is enduring a covert assault from the progressive left.
January 27, 2010 at 4:28 pm
Christians represent the most underappreciated group of people on the planet.
I would nominate Catholic nuns, in particular, as the most under-appreciated group in history.
They have had a huge positive impact on the world in health and education, not to mention moral development (sheer civilizing influence) and have done it selflessly.
Nuns have always done the walk … while others, eh, just do the talk.
January 27, 2010 at 5:09 pm
He also misquotes the Bible, which maybe goes over big with other faux Christians, but those of us who are the real deal notice and are definitely Not Impressed.
January 27, 2010 at 9:13 pm
Obama is not a Christian. He claims to be, but he’s not. I don’t think he’s a Muslim either (He’s basically lazy and it’s just too much work praying to Mecca 5 times a day.) Teh One only uses religion when it suits his purposes. After he threw Jeremiah Wright under the bus he never bothered to find another church to attend.
January 27, 2010 at 10:01 pm
I agree. I’ve never gotten the impression from him that religion is important to him in any way shape or form. Why would you need God when you are The One?
But..you’d have a difficult time getting elected in the U.S. without being a religious person of some sort, Christian being most popular, of course. Despite what BO says, we are still a Christian nation, for the most part. I think he created that image for himself, because he needed it to get elected.

January 27, 2010 at 2:48 pm
Funny you should mention this. The minister at our church started out the last two services talking about exactly what they are doing for Haiti financially and then told us that they are ready to go as soon as they are given the word they can go. Of course with all the craziness down there, it’s not completely safe for just the regular (non-military or rescue-trained folks) people go there. He suggested getting your passports and innoculations in order if you want to go and as soon as it’s all clear they will be heading down.
January 27, 2010 at 2:50 pm
Ours announced that the previously planned mission for this summer has been changed to Haiti. Same kind of thing, get your passports and shots if you plan to go. Be prepared for primitive conditions.
I figure that’s just about the time all the celebrities will be gone and the real work can begin … without camera crews.

Seriously, those jokes about him and a teleprompter at dinner with Michele & the kids isn’t that far off.
This is my favorite one …. giving a speech at an elementary school! http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2010/01/24/obama_uses_teleprompters_during_speech_at_elementary_school.html
January 27, 2010 at 4:53 pm
Why even in the smallest settings, would he needs a teleprompter?
I’m starting to wonder if he has some type of memory problem or something. So he needs the words right in front of him.
He looks so foolish using them in small settings.
January 27, 2010 at 5:12 pm
I agree he’s totally lame to be so dependent on the t-prompter, but in this case, he was actually giving a prepared speech with the school room as a back drop. When he actually talked with the kids, he sat in a kiddie chair and chatted with them.
January 27, 2010 at 6:12 pm
HotAir.com has been making fun of that picture for a few days now…it’s funny.
January 27, 2010 at 7:40 pm
It’s no wonder that he needs a teleprompter. He “uhs” and stutters and makes a complete ass of himself without one (has he never heard of Toastmasters?!). Painful to watch, and to listen to; no thrill up MY leg, that’s for certain.
January 27, 2010 at 2:55 pm
Dear Hillbuzz Boyz,
As a lifelong Christian (and devoted Hillbuzz reader), I want to thank you for your kind words in this post. I just want to mention a few things in answer to some of the questions you raised.
Firstly, as to why Christians continue to jump into the fray when people need help:
The word Christian literally means: a person who exemplifies in his or her life the teachings of Christ. The teachings of Christ include:
-His most important commandment, to ‘love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength; and to love your neighbor as yourself.’ (Matthew 22: 34-40)
Loving your neighbor means we love any man or woman God created, regardless of sex, race, creed, or sexual orientation, because that is what Jesus did. Anyone claiming to be a Christian who says hateful things against ANYONE is not acting in accordance with this commandment.
AND
-Matthew 25:31-46, from which comes the famous passage: ‘Whatever you did for one of the least of these brethren of mine, you did for me.’ (words of Christ)
This means feeding the hungry, clothing the poor, and helping the homeless and destitute. True Christians believe we are put on this earth to love and help others, period.
Secondly, I just want to say I love you guys, am proud of the good work you are doing, and keep you constantly in my thoughts and prayers. May God continue to bless you and keep you safe.
January 27, 2010 at 4:31 pm
Perfect. Love the hillbuzz guys.
January 27, 2010 at 2:58 pm
Oh and another thing I forgot to mention but one of the posts above reminded me…I’ve been brought up conservative churches since I can remember and my Mom is especially committed to working on Missions. For as long as I can remember Haiti was one of the main places that Missionaries go and they have been rather successful. Actually all the money being poured down there from the US has only hurt their efforts to make people more self-sufficient. They are not only down there to preach the Gospel…they are also there to help them learn trades, get them trained on getting clean water in their communities etc. There are some Missions that have scientists on staff that actually do research on growing plants and foods in various soils for these groups, etc.
In any case, this is one of the reasons I have such a problem with Muslim countries…we allow them to come to our country and preach and convert whowever they want. But if you are a Christian in a Muslim country, you’re lucky to be alive. And Missionaries? For get about it! They are killed before they can give their first “Amen”. THAT is why I have a problem with Muslims…it’s not their religion and that I don’t agree with their beliefs…it’s that they are not only intolerant of other beliefs, they are aggressive towards them.
January 27, 2010 at 3:14 pm
Wow! What a powerful statement through your article!
Anyway, from neither a democrud or republicant or liberal or conservative or even independent but from a fellow American…welcome to the ‘center’ where true life begins and end.
January 27, 2010 at 3:16 pm
Thank you so much for this post. I nearly cried.
My dear friend Kelly has been serving as a missionary to Haiti for nearly 10 years. She is a veterinarian and does veterinary work to help Haitians and build relationships so she can share the hope of Jesus Christ. She took an extra long furlough in 2008 to deal with some difficult stuff in her life. She was tired, depressed, and full of anxiety because her heart was totally broken for the people of Haiti. She had not given herself any love for many years because she poured it all on Haiti. After her year of healing, which involved intense therapy, prayer and time with her family, she went back to Haiti in October of 2009. Now, she is more equipped than ever before to deal with the horrors brought on by this earthquake. She has lost dear friends and is supporting many friends who have lost everything, and she is able to do it joyfully, with little sleep, and VERY effectively.
I so appreciate that you recognize the tremendous impact Christians have always had in Haiti and will continue to have. So many people who claim to be Christians don’t act like it, and that’s frustrating. But people like Kelly DO, and that’s what matters. They tend to do it one person at a time, which is slow and doesn’t look like much, but for each person, it’s huge.
The Hillbuzz boys have looked past the offensive way some Christians try to change them (right or wrong) to see the plain old good work they’ve been doing for years. Christians (myself included/especially) can learn something from this and look past the characteristics of a person and see the person, instead of the sin. God will always take care of that. That’s what Jesus did, and it changed people.
January 27, 2010 at 7:55 pm
God Bless Kelly for such self-less sacrifice to others.
January 27, 2010 at 3:18 pm
I have a friend who is a life-long New Orleanian, she said the Lutheran church did the most good after Katrina.
January 27, 2010 at 3:37 pm
Hillbuzz, all liberals are like George Clooney and all Christians are nice open minded charitable people. Interesting. I know that your evidence is purely anectodal. But, boy have you had different experiences than I. The liberals I know are decent, moral, intellectual and caring. Most are atheist or not religious. The very religious people that I know are hypocritical, judgmental, and immoral. Since they know God forgives them, it gives them license to do all kinds of bad things.
In my liberal mini-world, we have gay couples with children, and all sorts of ethnicities and races. We all travel in the same circles. The Christian mini-worlds that I’ve been exposed to are scary.
So, that’s my anectodal evidence. I feel sorry for you.
January 27, 2010 at 4:43 pm
So given that more than 70% of the population is Christian then I suppose that means the 30% of the people who are atheist or non-religious are the good people and 70% of the population is “scary”.
My experience is the opposite. I live in a small, country town. There are 5 churches on my street alone of all denominations. If I needed ANYTHING they would ALL be at my side. We have no crime. We have a beautiful community. There is always, always some type of activity for the kids and charitable events going on. We have our drama…that’s a human trait that has nothing to do with religion…but given the quality of life my kids have and the security of knowing that I can live my life comfortably without judgment and without fear…I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.
This country is largely built on small towns…. We forget that living in the big cities. I’ve lived in those cities. You can keep it.
January 27, 2010 at 5:17 pm
Umm… I did not hear them say that ALL of one group are this and ALL of one group are that. So are you claimming the opposite? All liberals are like this and all Christians are like that? That whole kind of argument is such an insult to intelligence. Generalities always have plenty of exceptions in the real world since humans are a pretty complex lot, no? Nevertheless, evidence-based generalities can be quite accurate and say something significant when the many exceptions are acknowledged.
January 27, 2010 at 5:31 pm
Interesting, heva. I’ve met all sorts — atheist leftist trying very hard to be virtuous and compassionate, the tenderest of tender-hearted bible-thumpers, one flamingly hypocritical Christian who also happened to be a proud socialist, another Christian and socialist guy who qualifies as about the most gentle person I’ve ever met, a gay Christian who lived his principles so well that he’s one of my spiritual mentors (even when we disagree), and a lot of plain ol’ bullies in the left-leaning secular intelligentsia.
Our own anecdotal evidence is always incomplete, but by pooling anecdotes, we begin to see larger patterns, and if we pool systematically, we get statistics, going beyond the merely anecdotal.
I’d recommend reading Arthur Brook’s “Who Really Cares”. The statistical evidence presented in this book is eye-opening, to say the least.
PS: Brooks self-identifies as a liberal member of the intelligentsia.
January 27, 2010 at 5:46 pm
I’m wondering what heva is trying to stir up here…I mean what’s up with the “I feel sorry for you” routine? Puhleeeze.
January 27, 2010 at 7:30 pm
I feel sorry for YOU. Close minded bigots make me sad.
January 27, 2010 at 9:08 pm
As a conservative in a liberal town I hear alot of foul stuff from the intellectual left. Over heard at a dinner party: Certainly you (the host) wouldn’t have any “Bushies” at your home! How could you live with yourself? At a cocktail party at the home of a leading local professor: If I were to find out someone here voted for Bush, I’d slam this wine glass in their face!
My conservative friends don’t have an issue with homosexuality. I worked in retail for 20 years and didn’t get married until I was 35 because I spend my youth hanging out with gay guys.
My circle of conservatives and Tea party friends includes all races and religions and yes, sexual orientations. My Christian friends walk the walk as well. I see members of my urban/downtown church out checking on elderly and infirm neighbors, especially in the cold winter months. They have raised thousands in the inner city for Haiti. They step up and volunteer to help local children and families in need.
I went to Catholic schools through high school and NEVER once heard any sort of “hate speech.” Never were non Catholics derided or judged- judgement is the role of God, not man.
Are there “Christians” out there who are not acting with goodwill toward their fellow man? Of course. The woman who chided the host at the above mentioned party for having “Bushies” in her home is an elder in her church and a deeply religious person, yet she has no tolerance for an opposing political point of view. She just assumes that conservatives are nasty and mean. Of course in this college town I suppose it’s possible to live into your 60′s and never meet a conservative to find out the truth.
January 27, 2010 at 3:49 pm
Great post, Hillbuzz. The last refuge of bigotry is the anti-Christian one.
Speaking of liberals, isn’t it interesting how they are in a tizzy over the pro-life ad by Tim Tebow and his mother? Choosing life is so offensive to these people that they want to shut down someone’s right to free speech. Very similar to what the Boyz have been going through lately–no straying off the liberal plantation.
January 27, 2010 at 4:12 pm
One would think that protecting the lives of those who could least proctect themselves would be a progressive idea. I stand for the protectiom of live fetuses against the horrific, deadly violence that is abortion. Progressives seem to care more about baby seals, puppies, or whatever have you, while pretending that defenseless LIVE human baby fetuses are disposable like every day trash. Does the word conscience exist in the liberal vocabulary? If they supposedly promote the values of non-violence and human rights, then why not protect the live fetuses right to be born? One can’t get much more progressive than that.
January 27, 2010 at 4:20 pm
I have noticed that the pro-life movement is changing. They are taking on a more compassionate approach. I love it! It really says how the right is changing in their own right. The days of violent abortion clinic protests may be on the way out. Treat the situation with love and compassion against their violence and anger. It wins out every time. The left won’t know what to do with that approach.
January 27, 2010 at 6:17 pm
The “Pro-Choice” tag is becoming more of a “Pro-Abortion” label. If you have the right to choose then you can choose life, right? Or is it only right if you choose to abort? That seems to be the message they are sending which is pretty ridiculous.
January 27, 2010 at 3:54 pm
I wholeheartedly agree with this post. E-X-C-E-L-L-E-N-T
You know, I am not a liberal, but I would imagine that there are some liberals who actually do care enough to have their priorities right. But, I have no doubts that hypocrisy runs deep in many liberal’s veins.

Has anyone noticed that the White House mouthpieces have been on Fox a lot the past few days? Hmmmm. I guess that since Fox has been beating everyone in the ratings the WH realized they better start talking where the people are. Smart choice.
January 27, 2010 at 5:17 pm
Problem is that every time they open their mouths their support drops more. Either they say what they really think (never good for liberals) or they twist, spin and/or lie which is immediately recognized as such without the cover of their MSM shills. Best bet for them is to keep their mouths shut or stick to “approved” media outlets.
January 27, 2010 at 6:19 pm
True…Fox calls them out…which actually is why they have the best ratings. They aren’t lap dogs.

I read your post, stepped out of the office snickering, called out my husband’s name and right away he said, “OK, what did the Hillbuzz guys say?”
I just had to tell him about “watching MSNBC”.
January 27, 2010 at 5:45 pm
I love you Boyz, but it doesn’t feel very good to be told to “just shut up” about something. I’ve never said an unkind word to or about a gay person in my life and I totally get it that you don’t choose who you’re attracted to.
But if we can’t talk, then where are we?
It seems to me that this is one of the biggest problems the Left has. As far as they’re concerned, everybody either has to agree with them or shut up.
Maybe we can all take away one thing from this thread … to stop assuming you know what a person is about because of some label.
I’ve been condemned to hell by Christians because I’m Catholic, yet my own pastor thinks my whole family is horrible because we supported the war in Iraq and have kids in the military.
I think what we need is mutual respect, not silence.
January 27, 2010 at 6:37 pm
C-the-H, I know how you feel. Going to hell ‘cuz Catholic ain’t really Christian? Absurd.
Had the opposite happen to me. A Catholic — a really loving and smart guy (had a PhD in physics from Cornell, fer Chrissakes) — gave me “the talk” about how he was worried for my salvation because I was so close to being Catholic (“really Christian”) but… not… quite… there… yet. I totally get that he was only broaching the subject out of kindness, but it was still off-putting.
I think that there are times for honest talk, but there are also times when we set certain topics aside for the time being — I think that’s what the Boyz mean by “shut up” here. It’s like your mutual respect. Sometimes mutual respect means a bit of mutual silence.
January 27, 2010 at 6:10 pm
I have given to Cross International (a Catholic Group) for years. They have been in Haiti awhile and plan to stay. Website: http://www.crossinternational.org/
January 27, 2010 at 6:37 pm
Thank you. As a devout Catholic, homeschooling, Long skirts only, Mom of many-many children, Thank you for that. I read your blog regularly because it is not filled with the vile comments that I have personally experienced from the queer folk, who used to be my friends. Too many of them ditched me when I was no longer fun and now malign me. My feelings for my friends never changed although my religious beliefs did, however I was judged guilty first and ditched. I am glad to know that there are some gay men who are able to stand up and think for themselves and notice the difference between someone who sincerely holds a conviction and someone who runs around with hateful signs to other people’s funerals….
January 27, 2010 at 6:48 pm
Great post. As a southern, Christian (albeit, a bad one) non-gay person, I wish more people “like me” would read your thoughts here. You nailed us basic conservative Repubs. Don’t care about gay/straight (we really don’t), try to be thoughtful when dealing with pretty much everything (the “real” Golden Rule was hammered into us from birth) from personal dealings to politics, and genuinely want to help folks in a jam or down on their luck as much and as best we can (without setting aside trillions in tax cash for a “program” that won’t work).
Yes, there are fringes on both sides – and the fringe of “my” side seems to keep their back hair up over the whole “straight/gay” thing, certainly when it comes to same-sex unions (marriage). But that ain’t us rank-and-file conservatives. We’re oft religous, but not to the point of fault – like I said, I am a bad Christian (don’t go to church regularly, but am a “believer” – but primarily I am “bad” because I am not a Fisher of Men. I ain’t gonna preach to you how you need to convert, or become religous, “become” straight, etc).
It’s these sorts of stereotypes that hurt us all. To listen to the main harbingers of these stereotypes (the far left), I shouldn’t even want to think about conversing with non-straight people (I’m southern, conservative and straight remember) yet the most fun of my day these last few months has been following yous guys here at HB…and more often than not, asking why in the heck it is that no one on the RIGHT is doing and saying the things that you guys are (and why the left seems to have it in for you of late)…since your comments, train of thought, and observations so align with a lot of the average conservative base. So that makes that base technically “moderate” by your definition…who cares? As long as sound advice is given, and then heeded, who cares WHAT IT’S CALLED?
As an aside, and putting my “man-card” at risk, I have to admit that I often like chick flicks…and like whomever wrote this piece, I tend to pay close attention to things like cinematography, script writing, so on, in my movies…But I do have to draw the line at the “Jakie-G” thing. Good actor, handsome to be a guy, but that’s IT! lol
In that vein, I really loved his portrayal of a young Homer Hickam in “October Sky”. One of the better “coming of age” sort-of stories I’ve seen in a while. It was based on the book “The Rocket Boys” by the “real” Homer Hickam. Scenery is great (set in fictitous Coalwood WV), the music rocks (set in 1957, I was born in the wrong decade) and the cinematography was first class for the time (1999). But I’ll leave the judging of his hotness to you guys…Laura Dern was about the best the rest of us got in that movie…. :)

..you know, while I didn’t see Brokeback Mountain and I kinda like Crash, you all make a point about what a narcissistic circle jerk the Oscars are.
If you remember your history, they did something similar when what’s her tool starred in The Color Purple; they awarded the best picture to Out of Africa, a story about a couple of privileged white people amongst oppressed, down-trodden black.
Again, I ain’t P.C., but the irony of this choice just shrieked “Help! I have my head wedged and I need some one to pull it out of my ass!”
January 27, 2010 at 7:45 pm
I recall at the time a number of members of the Academy (who cast the votes for the Oscars) had not even seen Brokeback Mountain and refused to see it.

Good for her.
January 27, 2010 at 7:14 pm
Yeah there was another story on Hotair.com about her saying she wouldn’t want another 4 years as Secretary of State. She has to be careful about what she says obviously because she is working on behalf of the President. I have this dream that she will kick the Democrats (and all the schmucks who stabbed her in the back last year) to the curb, quit, and run as an Independent in 2012. Wouldn’t that just shake up the entire world????
January 27, 2010 at 7:28 pm
That strategy may just get her elected my friend. The Clinton’s got screwed and you can bet they are chomping at the bit right now. I would feel so much safer if Hillary was in charge.
January 27, 2010 at 7:47 pm
It was said by some pundits, in 2008, that she would be “too old” to run for President in 2016, so 2008 would be her last chance… unless whoever won in 2008 was a single-termer. Don’t think she isn’t hoping for Obama’s support to plummet, and a possible primary challenge in 2012.

Actually, I’m going to skip it too, though I doubt anyone would notice me gone.

I have been called unchristian because I don’t support welfare by the government. To me Capitalism and Freedom are very Christian. Because of Capitalism, we have the resources to help people here and around the world. How could we help the people in Haiti if we didn’t have the money to do so?
The Bible commands us to help the widows and orphans; not make people widows and orphans. The liberals ~with their faux concern~ have destroyed many lives by trying to replace the father with a check. The number 1 indicator of whether a child lives in poverty is being in a single parent home. What does our government/welfare do? Make it more profitable to be a single mom than to be married. I’m all for helping the poor, but I want the most efficient and effective way to help the poor. The government ain’t it! I live in Memphis, believe me we are a mess because of liberal policies.

There is a profound difference between tolerance and respect.
I didn’t have time to read all the posts, so I don’t know if anyone answered the question about why christians tend to be pretty good to gays. Christians, by and large, practice respect. Respect distinguishes between the person and what he/she does or believes. We may disagree strongly, but it never invalidates the innate respect due to the person.
Tolerance, on the other hand, cannot distinguish between the person with what they do and believe, to the point where one is convinced that if they disagree with what someone does or believes, then, by necessity, it is a rejection of the person. Because nobody wants to reject the person, they simply “tolerate.” Unfortunately, the opposite of this kind of tolerance is what you are experiencing from the hard left. They disagree with something you believe, confuse it with who you are, and make your person a target. A position of mere “tolerance” inevitably pushes one to “intolerance.” A position of respect, that loves the person despite their disagreements, keeps the focus off the person.

Sorry…. should read “Tolerance, on the other hand, cannot distinguish between the person and what they do and believe…”

And to the Christians may I add; The Jews? A friend of mine works for Hadassah as fundraiser for their medical hospital in Israel. They have sent a field hospital full equiooed with the best and latest technology and the doctors and nurses are donating their time and all these resources to help the Haitians.
The Juedoe-Christian ethic is the one that teaches the Golden Rule. Surprise surprise, it has stood the time of time better than any other pseudo-spiritual social ethic out there.

Oopps typo… that should read “fully equipped”.
January 27, 2010 at 8:17 pm
Unfortunatly, parents don’t teach their children the importance of the Golden Rule anymore. How very sad, as Sister Leo Joseph said to our forst grade class so many times.

Thanks for this article, it really spoke to me. Thank you for recognizing that not all Christians are out to bash gays. I love you guys, I love your site, and I love what you are doing with your time and energy!

[...] Consider this post and a few excerpts below. Very insightful. Question: Who will be left to help Haiti once all the Liberals get back to thinking about Oscar seas… [...]

Thank you for recognizing the long term contributions of the Christian churches in Haiti. As a cradle catholic, former republican officeholder and current libertarian, I have always been revolted by the anti catholic bent of the media. True Catholics accept all. The bashing of the priests conveniently ignores the far greater (proportionately) incidents of abuse in public school teachers, who have had the advantage of unlimited access to sex and liberal doctrine. I personally prosecuted one of the first Chicago priests accused of abuse, and was even then impressed with the concern of the late Cardinal Cody for the victims. While he did not want publicity, for obvious reasons, he immediately removed the accused from the ministry and cooperated with the investigation in ALL aspects. And offered the victims unlimited counseling and help. Living in a small Catholic village in Illinois ( 5 in 8th grade class, 2 males, 50 % GAY ), there was never condemnation based of sexual orientation. Why don’t the proclaimed liberals get this. Come to cornfield hell and be accepted

Hillboyz, thank you for this post. And for this blog. I am a conservative Christian, and have been all my life. But I have friends all over the political spectrum; I used to have great debates with a friend before 9/11, after which things got a little more tense and we dropped the politics (after we started talking again). Anyway. I found you guys last summer (2008) on a link from one of the PUMA sites. I saw posts from people who watched the Republican convention (or even attended) and it was amazing how many people were honestly surprised at the decency, the patriotism, the general non-evilness of the Repubs, as opposed to what they’d always heard, and I thought, as bad as things were for all of us, there’s starting to be an awakening — where people are looking beyond party labels. You boyz are exhibit A for that. You restore my faith in America.
Plus you do fabulous snark, which I adore.
Oh, and as a Christian — thank you for the kind words, but when one of the guiding principles of your belief system is “love your neighbor” it’s just kind of in the job description :) My church has been working with a ministry in Haiti for years, so we’ve got a head start in helping now. One of our pastors was down there last week, doing whatever he could. Yeah, we’ll still be there long after the liberals lose interest.
I visit y’all every day, and I pray for your safety. God bless you all.

Um…NO. It is all about the Heath.Duh.
Joking aside, that Brokeback Mountain did not win Best Picture is an issue I still get crazy about. It’s sheer awesomeness aside, how do you justify giving the Best Director award to a man who apparently didn’t direct the Best Picture? WTH???
A classic example of Hollywood/Leftie hypocrisy…what do we want to APPEAR to care more about, Teh Gheys or RAAACISM??? Let’s just split the vote! Gutless frauds.
