(Celebrating Scott Brown, and America, with another famous Brown)
The polls close in Massachusetts at 8pm EST (7pm CST).
Please update this thread with all the latest results. We don’t have TV here at Buzzquarters and have an event this evening, so we won’t be able to be here live updating. We hope you can fill in for us and post what you are seeing and hearing about the results in Massachusetts on this thread.
Go, Hottie McAwesome, go!
PS: We are very proud of all of you for rallying around Scott Brown and doing everything you could to help him. We truly believe all of you made a difference, and we know Brown must be appreciative.
*****
PS: Here’s a song that makes us think of the 2008 primaries…and every bad thing Liberals and the Utopia campaign did to Hillary Clinton. Just think, if not for any of that, we wouldn’t have joined millions of other moderates and independents who are now taking Democrats down, race by race, in the leadup to 2010.
Don’t stop believing, folks.
If we work hard, we’ll win.
We will win…Liberals will lose…Utopia will sing the blues.
As Professor Jacobson over at Legal Insurrection said the other day, revenge is a dish best served cold…and with fabulous backup accompaniment.
*********
From Boystown to you, a little more Glee, some Walkin’ On Sunshine, and a mashup of Halo — for Hottie McAwesome, since our angel today is the centerfold.
Liberals are defeated in Massachusetts, of all places, AND DON’T IT FEEL GOOD!
********
We think we’ve earned ourselves some Pie Hole pizza and a few Pilsners at Sidetracks tonight for 80s Request Night, where we’re going to be requesting lots of fun stuff to dance to in honor of Hottie McAweome and all the work all of you put into everything for him.
A Cosmo centerfold is now a United States Senator.
LOVE THAT.
Tomorrow, we get in gear and work hard to make sure he’s seated…as well as putting the LIVING HOLY TERROR OF VOTERS into Evan Bayh, Ben Nelson, Mary Landrieu, Blanche Lincoln, and every other idiot Democrat in the Senate who thought they could get away with shoving their foul, vampire, secret legislation through on Christmas Eve and the public wouldn’t know it.
Well, “The Kennedy Seat” was taken back by the people tonight.
Will these idiots listen now?
Because we are going to make their lives Hell and give them an earful until they do.
Ain’t nobody at Daily Kos or Dem Underground who can stop us, either.
********
One more from Mizz Jodee…and big thanks to all readers out there who pitched in to help Hottie McAwesome win!!!

Just saw this on Twitter:
jimgeraghty
On XM POTUS, former Boston Mayor Ray Flynn, a pro-life Democrat, says he voted for #ScottBrown.
January 19, 2010 at 8:40 pm
Raybo is probably the closest to quintessential Bostonian as you’ll find. If Raybo voted Brown, a lot of Boston voted Brown.
(Raybo was Howie Carr’s 80′s handle on the mayor. Flynn was always on the scene at any event where there were camera. Traffic accident, drive-by shooting, cat in tree, Raybo was there.)
January 19, 2010 at 9:15 pm
‘Cat in tree’…LOL! Love it!

Frank Luntz can’t find Coakly supporters, they don’t want to admit they are Dem’s???
January 19, 2010 at 9:17 pm
Wow. You know it’s bad when they won’t even admit they support her.

More golden comments:

Former Boston Mayor Ray Flynn, on XM POTUS, a few moments ago: “[Massachusetts] Democratic liberals are against the Obama health care bill, because they already have coverage through the state plan we passed. They see this bill in Congress as a cost because of the wheeling and dealing with Nebraska and the Lousiana purchase. It’s really turned them off.”
“People feel like their vote is being taken granted with this powerful, one party state, and with one-party government in Washington. People want a little coalition, and a little respect… I don’t know how you regroup from something like this. There are going to be a lot of problems in the Democratic party from here on out.”

from National Review Campaign Spot:
Flynn For Brown
Following up on this post, later during his interview with Sirius/XM POTUS’s Joe Mathieu, former Boston Mayor Ray Flynn, a pro-life Democrat, says he voted for Scott Brown.
Holy poop, Batman! Ray Flynn???!!! Do we dare hope for a rout? Prayers answered? Yikes!
January 19, 2010 at 8:38 pm
This is great! The Nelson sell-out came back to backfire! I wonder if Reid is kicking himself yet?
January 19, 2010 at 9:31 pm
Coakley has conceded. Mr. President the next time you are asked to help someone campaign, perhaps you should go on vacation. 4 & 0 at bat.
January 19, 2010 at 11:05 pm
… if he’s at bat, he should probably not ask Martha to opine on baseball in Chicago. LOL
January 20, 2010 at 1:07 am
Good one, Ms LOL!
January 19, 2010 at 7:41 pm
My husband just went to vote for Brown here in Hingham, MA…he took along the Flat Stanley that our friend’s daughter in Evanston, IL sent to us last week…I figure that Flat Stanley can’t miss this election!!! How exciting to be part of history. Sippin’ champagne because regardless of the results…the fact that this race is so close is a harbinger of things to come!
January 19, 2010 at 7:47 pm
Mom,
That is the funniest thing I have heard! Flat Stanley going to vote! Looking good Intrade has Scott at 80%!
January 19, 2010 at 7:49 pm
Flat Stanley is the such a great story and idea!!! We sent ours (several years ago) to DH’s Aunt in California :)
Flat Stanley…at the polls in Mass!!!
(He should be sent back with a tiny ‘Brown for US Senate’ sticker.
January 19, 2010 at 8:24 pm
LOL! Flat Stanley votes for Brown!
That is one of the best stories that I’ve heard today. Thanks for the smile. :)
You’d better take a picture of Stanley near a Brown sign with many smiling people nearby…
January 19, 2010 at 7:44 pm
Good lord..just want it to be over. Thank you guys for everything! Brown by 7 (please).
January 19, 2010 at 7:45 pm
PROBABLY means no call in first hour; Most of the #masen vote should be in before 11pm ET, I’m told. Could be faster, not slower.
January 19, 2010 at 7:50 pm

January 19, 2010 at 7:51 pm
Chris Matthews’ head is already exploding
January 19, 2010 at 7:56 pm
That pig Chris Matthews looks so tired and ugly.
We hope Hera sends down flights of harpies to give him a Tim Russert-styled heart attack tonight, taking Olbermann, Anderson Cooper, Rachel Maddow, and the majority of MSNBC and CNN with him.
Heart attacks for the entire MSM!
January 19, 2010 at 8:10 pm
They have just been threatened, cut out of business and are stressed. Your point is valid dustoffmom, but there are mitigating circumstances too.
January 19, 2010 at 8:14 pm
They may lose an election, or an erection, but they still have their journalistic incest to comfort themselves…
January 19, 2010 at 8:16 pm
Nah, nothing deadly – we are better than that.
Maybe something uncomfortable, like mange, or scabies, or uncontrollable gas.
January 19, 2010 at 8:50 pm
I vote scabies!!!
But I understand why the HB boyz said what they did. They really effed our republic during the Dem primaries right thru the general election.
January 19, 2010 at 9:10 pm
How about wishing their houses are infected with bed bugs????…they are nasty little blood sucking creatures and should be right at home with Chris and Co!
January 19, 2010 at 8:27 pm
I vote for uncontrollable gas! LOL!
Hillbuzz boys, I realize you are having a super tough week, but heart attacks? C’mon, uncontrollable gas would be so much more fun!
January 19, 2010 at 8:58 pm
The uncontrollable gas is on MSNBC.
January 19, 2010 at 9:18 pm
Good one!
January 19, 2010 at 10:10 pm
WHOOT! WHOOT! Congrats to Senator Hottie McAwesome! Thanks for all the hard work boyz! Now, what are we gonna do if they dare try not to seat Scott?
January 19, 2010 at 9:16 pm
A big shout out to you boyzzzzzz” {{{THANKYOU}}},,,, I’m believing Scott is going to win this thing and you helped in bringing-it AL-together”"”"!
“ROCK-ON HILLBUZZ YOUR THE BEST”
January 19, 2010 at 8:02 pm
Just when you think Chrissy CAN’T hyperbole anyone worse than he has in the past…well, he surpasses all expectations.
Premeditated murder of the health care plan?
Happy to be a co-conspirator here!!!
January 20, 2010 at 1:12 am
I object to the use of my name for that flatulent piece of … ahem. Sorry.
January 19, 2010 at 8:03 pm
“Deliberate, premeditated murder for health care”? Oh, no bias.
January 19, 2010 at 9:45 pm
In fact, he’s right and the people of one of the most liberal states in the nation have spoken. THEY DONT WANT OBAMACARE!
Hello??? Chris, this means something. If MA doesn’t want it, what are the chances that the rest of us do???
January 19, 2010 at 8:06 pm
The look on his face is absolutely priceless!!!
January 19, 2010 at 8:25 pm
They get the health care they WANT? Someone needs to go read the comments on HuffPo and Kos. Forced insurance purchase with no means to contain costs of premiums or care is not it, guys.
January 19, 2010 at 8:28 pm
Deliberate, predmeditated murder for healthcare…
ABSOLUTELY CORRECT.
Kill that freaking bill! Stomp the ever loving dog stuff out of it. Pour gasoline on top of it and set it alight. Take the ashes and shoot it into space in an ICBM directly towards the center of the sun…
January 19, 2010 at 9:26 pm
roflmao – and even still I want proof that it went into the center of the sun. Only that could satisfy me.
January 20, 2010 at 1:17 am
Ditto. And could some one of these O’droolers please explain to me why we’re spending ALL our effort on the health care takeover (when last I heard noone is actually dying in the streets due to a lack of health insurance) and NOT on the economy (when according to the misery index TWENTY PERCENT of Americans are out of work)?!
Although … wait. I take that back.
I don’t WANT Dumbocrats working on the economy cuz they don’t know JS about how it works. They still think like they did when they were four and their Mommies got free money at the bank and their Daddies each had a bloody fortune sitting on their dresser tops in the ugly ashtrays they made him.
January 19, 2010 at 7:54 pm
0h man, my alltime favorite James Brown song is lIving in America–love love love it!!
January 19, 2010 at 7:55 pm
i need my medication!
where are they????
January 19, 2010 at 8:08 pm
If I had any I’d share – since I don’t I share your wish for some. :)
January 19, 2010 at 7:57 pm
Watching CNN (Situation Room w/Wolfie)…they have a little counter on the side of the screen counting down the minutes and seconds…
The Cafferty File is awesome…really, serious criticisms, with each missive, of Dear Leader. And Cafferty…who I think wants to be Bill O’Reilly seems pretty pleased with his letter choices.
“What will Democrats do if the REPUBLICAN wins Ted Kennedy’s seat???” Oh. Noes.
January 19, 2010 at 7:57 pm
If you grab (and trust) the unscientific data collected on the Boston Globe’s Poll Watcher website, you get about 2,252 responses. Of those, 98 don’t say who they voted for. The remainder break down as follows:
Brown: 1,423 (66%)
Coakley: 707 (33%)
Kennedy: 24 ( 1%)
I suppose that serves as a quasi-exit poll, too. FWIW.
January 19, 2010 at 7:57 pm
I say from the amount of enthusiasm from the burbs, Brown by 10%.
January 19, 2010 at 7:59 pm
I am on pins, needles, and a nice tall Vodka and soda. I need the results!
Go Scott Go!
January 19, 2010 at 8:07 pm
I like a nice, neat bourbon on election days, but dammit I have a cold!
January 19, 2010 at 8:09 pm
Try some good old Southern Comfort instead. Best thing in the world for a sore throat or cough (even tastes a bit like cough syrup). ;)
January 19, 2010 at 8:23 pm
A Hot-Toddy does the trick nicely when you’ve got a cold!
January 19, 2010 at 8:32 pm
Or my very favorite cold remedy – a hot toddy!
January 19, 2010 at 8:32 pm
take the bourbon and put a little peppermint in it then heat it a little, great for a cold, and not bad tasting either. works best if you let it sit for a day or two but you don’t have too.
January 19, 2010 at 9:59 pm
Thanks to all of you! I have settled on some ginger tea and honey for now. The shakes just passed after the win.

DELICIOUS, it needs printing out:
Pollster Frank Luntz having difficulty
finding Coakley supporters for focus group
on election night of Massachusetts senate
race
By Tucker Carlson
- The Daily Caller
01/19/10 at 5:08 pm
Frank Luntz (AP)Just about every election night, Republican pollster Frank Luntz assembles a focus group of likely voters to help predict election results. Tonight you can see Luntz interview an assembly of Massachusetts voters on Fox at 9:10 p.m. EST.
But you probably won’t see all the work that went into it. As of late this afternoon, Luntz was still scrambling to balance his focus group with supporters of Democrat Martha Coakley. “I just lost another one,” Luntz growled over his cell phone from a hotel ballroom at Logan Airport. In the last 24 hours, six Coakley voters have dropped out. By contrast, Luntz hasn’t lost a single supporter of her opponent, Scott Brown.
The problem isn’t money. “They’re getting paid well,” Luntz says, “probably more than they’re making at their jobs. And they still don’t want to do it.”
Instead, says Luntz, they’re ashamed. “They don’t want to be on television defending Martha Coakley. It’s passé. It’s socially unacceptable. I never dreamed I’d see Democrats in Massachusetts embarrassed to admit they’re Democrats.”
In all his years of running focus groups, Luntz remembers only a single other experience like this one. It was January of 2004, in Iowa. In the days before the caucuses, Howard Dean, the frontrunner, seemed to collapse from within. Dean’s weakness wasn’t obvious at first. Luntz figured it out when Dean supporters who’d agreed to appear on his MSNBC-sponsored focus group suddenly canceled.
“All my Dean people quit two days out,” he remembers. By election night, the panel remained unbalanced. “Chris Matthews accused me on the air of tanking the group to help John Kerry. I’m still pissed about it.” Ignoring Luntz, Matthews predicted a Dean win. The former Vermont governor came in third.
It all comes back to Luntz now as he works to find bodies willing to represent Martha Coakley. “This is definition of collapse,” he says.
January 20, 2010 at 1:23 am

I just want to sit here and read this over and over and over. :o)))))))))

Here we go kids, I’ve cracked a beer.
January 19, 2010 at 8:02 pm
POLLS ARE CLOSED!
TA DA!
January 19, 2010 at 8:03 pm
Watching Olberman just to see him squirm. He just promised that he was going to be apologizing to Scott Brown.
WTF? Did the order of the universe change?
January 19, 2010 at 8:05 pm
No, he just realized that Brown will be president in 2012 and he wants to have access to him.
January 19, 2010 at 8:19 pm
I’m watching him for the first time in years. Same interjected falsehoods like he’s doing some subliminal thing (universal health care that the majority of American want) What bullshit.
Brown – 56
Coakley -44
January 19, 2010 at 8:20 pm
Yep, just as I thought – Not an apology. He left out the word “sexist”. Dumbass.
January 20, 2010 at 1:30 am
The only place where a majority of Americans want this is on Planet O.
LATEST Rasmussen Health Care Reform poll – Jan 18th:
56% Oppose (44% strongly)
38% Favor (18% strongly)
Funny how Oblahblah (53%) vs McPalin (46%) was a MANDATE, innit?
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/current_events/healthcare/september_2009/health_care_reform
January 19, 2010 at 8:05 pm
Every piece of anecdotal evidence says Brown wins easily. If Coakley gets a higher vote count, her voters are either stealth, dead or ficticious.
January 19, 2010 at 8:05 pm
I am seeing on ORielly, that Salinda Lake, the inside poller for Martha Coakley put an interview has just put an interview out on the internet that the DNC blew it for Martha. Ok, I butchered names and didn’t spell check-please correct me but this is exciting.
January 19, 2010 at 8:07 pm
hyperventilating in Minnesota. I believe you guys have done it….details, details, details…we must have details! And in the meantime, YAHOOOOOOOOOO~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
January 19, 2010 at 8:08 pm
Me too….but he said the White House blew it, not the DNC didn’t he? Or maybe I heard wrong?
January 19, 2010 at 8:09 pm
Sorry, but still positive right? Good thoughts, good thoughts.

Friend—
Right now, the polls are open to elect a new senator to the seat that my friend Ted Kennedy held for 47 years.
The choice could not be more stark, and the result could not be of greater consequence—for Massachusetts or the nation.
The Bay State can send progressive champion Martha Coakley to Washington….etcetera.
Judi was not impressed to be designated BHO’s “Friend.”
January 19, 2010 at 8:06 pm
brett baier just reported on foxnews that turnout amongst the inner city is low but high for suburbs. that is good for brown.

Maddow went to MA (even though she seems to live in NJ now) just to vote for Oba, er, Coakley.
January 19, 2010 at 8:10 pm
I’m on the verge of a heart attack. Any reliable word out of anywhere yet?

Brown gained 25 points since the nomination of Coakley. Most other Republicans only have to make up 10 points this year. Will Democrats win any seats?
January 19, 2010 at 8:13 pm
While waiting for results, this is a perfect time to say THANK YOU to everyone at Hillbuzz for all the work you do, for the countless ways you put yourselves on the line every day, and for the work ahead. You are truly amazing!!!

January 19, 2010 at 8:13 pm
I’m just not used to that sort of post from the boyz I suppose….but you are correct. After the last couple of weeks they have endured they do have every reason for bitterness and anger.
January 19, 2010 at 8:14 pm
Drudge report says 22% of Democrats voted Brown. I expected it to be higher, also people who made up their minds in the last few days are going to the Democrats.
I suspect it is going to be a long night, Senator Coakley might happen.
we have to hope, i Coakley wins Obama will take the credit for his last day push, if she does not become the 60th Senator she is over big time.
What ever happens Brown will be a big player in the GOP he could run for Governor or advise the GOP on the way forward, I say Scott Brown for RNC chair, even thou Steele is great.
January 19, 2010 at 8:19 pm
Sorry rae, but this feels a little trollesque.
January 19, 2010 at 8:28 pm
The folks who made up their minds in the last few days are probably Democrats who were fence sitting over the health care bill.
I believe the unaffiliateds largely made up their minds early last week. That’s why you saw the race tighten, and then Brown even take a small lead.
January 19, 2010 at 8:15 pm
Ok…I have done the unthinkable.
I switched over to Keithy.
Did someone start an IV of prozac on him? He is oddly calm…
Ahhh…before I hit post…Olbie trying to tie THIS vote to the States Rights Issues of the 60s. Of course…Keithy trying to tie Brown’s pickup truck to racism.
Oh. My. Gawd. Horowitz is all but telling KO ‘THERE IS NO F’ING RACISM YOU A-HOLE!’
January 19, 2010 at 8:28 pm
Un-f-ing-believable…..
What……. a……….douche
What I find amazing is that anyone can watch this AG school turd on anything like a daily/nightly basis.
Oh…..his ratings suck?
No wonder……
BTW keefie, Civil Rights was hijacked by the dim-O-rats after they didn’t support the voting Rights Act championed by the Republican party. Didn’t they teach you that at soooo-eeee U.? Oh, what’s the use……………….
January 19, 2010 at 8:37 pm
Horowitz is on Obie’s show? I can’t believe it. How can he stand it?
January 19, 2010 at 8:16 pm
The eeyores are out in mass at Hot Air. I am not going back there!
January 19, 2010 at 8:16 pm
Next mission: Senator Hottie McAwesome delivers GOP response to Dr. U’s State of the Union address. He is the ONLY choice. It has been suggested that he rock said speech au natural – ’82 style. This could possibly qualify as psy-ops against Utopia – I like it.
We can pin down the specifics tomorrow.
January 19, 2010 at 8:17 pm
Apparently, Rasmussen exit polls show Brown +13, I can’t verify yet
January 19, 2010 at 8:18 pm
This just up at Rasmussen:
Rasmussen Reports has conducted an Election Night survey of 1,000 voters in the Massachusetts special election for U.S. Senate. Data will be released on this page throughout the evening
Polls closed in Massachusetts at 8:00 p.m. Eastern in the race between Democrat Martha Coakley and Republican Scott Brown.
Preliminary results include:
•Among those who decided how they would vote in the past few days, Coakley has a slight edge, 47% to 41%.
•Coakley also has a big advantage among those who made up their mind more than a month ago.
•Seventy-six percent (76%) of voters for Brown said they were voting for him rather than against Coakley.
•Sixty-six percent (66%) of Coakley voters said they were voting for her rather than against Brown.
•22% of Democrats voted for Brown. That is generally consistent with pre-election polling.
I’M FREAKING OUT!!!!!!!
January 19, 2010 at 8:39 pm
I’m smelling a trolling agent amongst this community, and I heard that Scott is winning “BTW”
I’m freaking out toooooooooooo!
January 19, 2010 at 8:19 pm

“Meanwhile, right-wing groups pumped significant amounts of money into Brown’s campaign, allowing him to go up with ads first, including negative attack ads funded by the Swift Boat and Willie Horton groups.”
They really don’t seem to have noticed that people like the Boyz … MODERATES … were campaigning hard for Brown.
January 19, 2010 at 8:30 pm
Just watched CNN, you should hear them talking about how a Coakley loss is a “good thing” for Obama, so that he can lose his majority and work with the Republicans(which I assume means leaving the door unlocked when they have a meeting), and that he’ll get the message early instead of waiting till November. The spin cycle is in full swing.
January 19, 2010 at 8:31 pm

Does anyone know where things stand with absentee ballots? How many there are? How many have been counted and what the results are so far?

January 20, 2010 at 2:07 am
Is this Zogby the poller?
This might explain why Zogby agreed to do John Ziegler’s first poll of Obama vs. McPalin voter information levels (which demonstrated that Obama voters were largely somewhere between ignorant-or-wrong and dumber-than-dirt) but refused to do a follow up poll. I always wondered why they’d turn down Ziegler’s money, yknow?
If you aren’t familiar with Ziegler’s work, go now. Or at least write yourself a note to do it later.

745,361 53% Brown (R)
654,070 46% Coakley (D)
14,174 1% Kennedy (L)
(1) Admit it. You love looking at “1% Kennedy”.
(2) Brown is up 90,000 votes. Boston is about 50% reported with 65,000 votes left to report. Boston is breaking 2-1 Coakley so expect Brown’s lead to drop 20,000 when Boston is all in.
(3) 53-46 is familiar. If I recall correctly, that was Obama-McCain result. Giant shifts in American politics come with just a few percent of voters deciding to vote or stay home.
(4) The counting is nearly over. Watch out for the lawyering.
January 19, 2010 at 9:22 pm
Are you able to do the math on that one? Boston will effect these numbers.By how much is what I want to know. I can’t think straight to work it out. Can you?
January 19, 2010 at 9:40 pm
Yeah, I’m a math geek. But the fresh numbers are coming so fast, I can’t even type something that’s both fresh and readable!
January 19, 2010 at 9:20 pm
I am so happy!!!! What a great day!

WOOOOHOOOOOoooooooooo!
January 19, 2010 at 9:24 pm
Well done. It was really great to see such a disparate group of people to come together from across the country and unite in a common purpose. It’s not unreasonable to have the opinion that you and the people of Mass (well, the ones that voted for Brown) may have saved your country as you know it. This result may force the Dems back to having an honest discourse with the opposition and at least for the time being, force the extreme left back a few steps. I hope that this united group can stay together for November.
January 19, 2010 at 9:24 pm
Martha has conceded!!!!! Thank you Hillbuzz and everyone that supported Scott Brown!

Tomorrow, Gibbsy will be so far into DeNile he will be in Egyptian garb and eyeliner.
Rach and Chrissy are arguing now about this…Maddow thinks that the voters of Mass are ‘divorced from reality.

THANK YOU HILLBUZZ!
Americans everywhere can thank you for drawing attention to this important race, and allowing us to potentially defeat the toxic Obama agenda months before the November election. Sweetest part about it — it is mere days before the State of the Dis-Union address.
I will be showing my appreciation in a more monetary way tomorrow. I am now baking celebratory chocolate chip cookies with my son.

January 19, 2010 at 9:36 pm
Wow. Thank God for the internet and for this amazing victory–they have been stopped from their headlong running over of America. I know it’s just the beginning….but their demanding, pushing, autocratic, “shut up and do what we tell you” has been stopped. And now we focus on the next step. Just the beginning….but a beginning was essential. Wow. Breathe. Breathe. Breathe. I’m exhausted.
January 19, 2010 at 9:39 pm
PS. I will be dressing in BROWN tomorrow!

Thank you, voters of Massachusetts!
Thank you, support team: Americans who care about their country no matter their political affiliation.
THANK YOU HILLBUZZ BOYZ!!!!!
January 19, 2010 at 9:44 pm
Norah O’Donnell confirming that at 9:13 p.m. Coakley called Brown to CONCEDE.
Norah looks sad.
Norah said that the crowd, when given the news of the concession, shout ‘Yes We Can!’ and ‘KERRY IS NEXT!’
Norah wondering how the Dems can ‘save healthcare’ thru the timing of the seating.
Norah moving onto how surprised she is about the blame being placed on Coakley.
January 19, 2010 at 11:25 pm
Norah looked like she wanted to take an entire bottle of sleeping pills and down them with vodka. What a miserable person!
That, and she’s really not that astute. More like a parrot.
January 19, 2010 at 9:44 pm
Congratulations, Boys!
January 19, 2010 at 9:46 pm
Tune in Fox NOW- SHE’S GOING TO GIVE THE CONCESSION SPEECH ANY MINUTE… Sorry for shouting….
January 19, 2010 at 9:48 pm
You know what this means? No incumbent is safe, no race is impossible to win, and there is NOTHING that cannot be changed. NEVER say never. Tomorrow let’s start working on the list of all the others that need to go.
January 19, 2010 at 10:11 pm
That is EXACTLY what it means! The Mutt and Jeff system is about played out right now, and the party hacks have less credibility than an Iranian mullah.
January 19, 2010 at 9:48 pm
thank you hillbuzz..you started the avalanche and it couldn’t be stopped. and we will all benefit from the momentum of the moment. thanks again.
January 19, 2010 at 9:48 pm
Rach said that Dear Leader called Brown to congratulate (threaten???) him.
Anyone else think Barry was holding his head, with the middle digit finger ‘project’ (literally and figuratively) whilst chatting?
Karma.
January 19, 2010 at 9:53 pm
Really? Now that surprises me… that he would be able to call and congratulate him. On the other hand, he MUST have known this was coming….
January 19, 2010 at 10:14 pm
If wee wee boy can’t swing enough vote fraud in Boston, he is not a very credible threat.

So happy about this! I was actually able to watch MSNBC for more than 3 seconds. Waiting now til 10 o’clock to see if Olby will actually be on. Might be too much for him. Lol!

CNN has projected that Republican Scott Brown will win the senate seat formerly held by the late Ted Kennedy. Standby for further results.
Precincts Reporting: 1,994 of 2,168 (92%)
Scott Brown (R) – 1,062,322 (52.3%)
Martha Coakley (D) – 949,660 (46.7%)
Joe Kennedy (I) – 20,410 (1.0%)

Chrissy mentioning the ‘endangered Democrats’ (Blanche Lincoln; Arlen Specter).
Now he is ‘reaching’ looking for ‘reasons.’
Maddow keeps correcting Matthews with HER opinions. These two are great theatre…I still say Rach can take Chrissy in a smack down.
January 19, 2010 at 9:55 pm
WOOOOOO!!!!!
You should post reaction vids tomorrow, I bet they are hilarious.
So far Brown’s maintained a 100k lead in votes counted, it should be too much for the Coakley campaign to cry fraud, or for a recount.
January 19, 2010 at 9:57 pm
Coakley doing her concession speech… she looks 15 years younger and MUCH more relaxed! Sounds like it too! She must have been under ENORMOUS pressure from the WH that is OVER now too!
January 19, 2010 at 10:01 pm
Maybe she could downshift a little, take in a ballgame at Fenway Park.
January 19, 2010 at 10:04 pm
Where? You mean with the “unwashed”???
January 19, 2010 at 9:59 pm
Here’s some analysis about margin of victory and lawsuits.
AP says 90% of precincts have reported and:
1,036,855 Brown (R)
921,459 Coakley (D)
19,867 Kennedy (L)
About 2 million votes so far. Brown is up by 110,000 votes (and he’s been going up all night).
===
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florida_election_recount
2000 President, Bush vs Gore
This was the biggest election lawyer battle ever.
There were six million votes cast. Wikipedia lists a bunch of different scenarios. The difference between the most-favorable-bush scenario and the most-favorable-gore scenario was 708 votes.
===
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_gubernatorial_election,_2004
2004 Governor, Gregoire vs Rossi
There were about 3 million votes cast. The recount added 1716 votes.
===
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Senate_election_in_Minnesota,_2008
2008 Minnesota Senate, Franken vs Coleman
There were about 3 million votes cast. The difference between the initial results and the final, recounted, litigated, certified results was about 500 votes.
===
Back to Massachussetts. There were about 2 million votes cast today, less than the examples above. If one side attacked with full lawyers, I think they could swing 500 to 2000 ballots from one side to the other.
Hottie McAwesome is currently up about 100,000 votes.
So unless the D’s have some brand new surprise weapon, this election is way beyond legal attack on the vote-counting level.
January 19, 2010 at 10:02 pm
Thank you Massachusetts!
I’m picturing the end of the Happy Gilmore movie right now, where the loser, Shooter McGavin, who was soooooo sure he was going to win the golf tournament, and deserved to win, ripped the championship jacket away and ran away yelling “it’s mine”.
I can see Obama “losing it” any day now and cry “but I’m suppose to change the world, and you’re suppose to love and adore me. I’m the world’s president.”

January 19, 2010 at 10:07 pm
The report by Zogby that Coakley will win is just a distant memory now…
January 19, 2010 at 10:08 pm
It must really must be mortally emotionally wounding for Olby.
He just ‘handed’ it over to Norah O’Donnell.
Keithy claimed that ‘Marcia’s concession speech should have had a stamp and been ‘mailed in.”
I watched her.
She looked younger; happier; like the weight of the world is off her shoulders.
KO is a awful.
January 19, 2010 at 10:50 pm
I thought the same thing! I thought she looked, younger and happier too. We must be on to something………
January 19, 2010 at 10:11 pm
Obey says ‘one word’ “RECONCILIATION.”
Matthews is in shock. He is staring off into space.
Rach is being brave (worried she is either going to have to slap Chrissy or do CPR).

January 19, 2010 at 10:13 pm
Hillbuzz, I bow to your tenacity, your honesty, your humor. Thank you for that, and for the education you gave all of us on how we could assist in this race. Thanks to you, we “buzz-bees” were a big part of the viral revolution that made sure the rest of the country were aware of the importance of this race. By the way, the bow is literal and it is lower than the Utopia’s bow to the Saudi Prince and the Japanese emporer. You guys are the best.
Martha is giving a classy concession speech. I can see why you guys appreciated her.
Our message to the left has been “cut it out or we’ll turn this car around”. They just wouldn’t stop their misbehavior. Tonight, we turned the car around. Now if they threaten not to seat Scott right away, we’ll have to go down there and turn them over our respective knee.
January 19, 2010 at 10:15 pm
Thank you HillBuzz boys! I first clued in about Senator Brown back in 2009 through you (unlike MSNBC, I knew the race would be close and possibly go to Brown through you); I learned of the money bomb (and contributed) because of HillBuzz; I heard about you through Rush. It has been great fun following this election through your site. I look forward to many more!
January 19, 2010 at 10:26 pm
HuffPo’s pressitute, Lawrence O’Donnell…saying that Harry Reid ‘welcomes Mr. Brown to the Senate and will seat him as soon as they PROCESS THE PAPERWORK…’
Bring that on Dirty Harry and watch what happens on the steps of the Capital!
January 19, 2010 at 10:28 pm
All things are possible. They truly are.
I’m really in awe tonight. After many months of being depressed and worried, I know now that I should have not have doubted my fellow Americans.
We are different. We were meant to be so, and we are exceptional.
Let’s keep this victory alive.
I’m really overwhelmed. I am grateful.
January 19, 2010 at 10:36 pm
WOW!!!
BROWN IS READY TO GO TO WASHINGTON WITHOUT DELAY!!!
Yes!!!
Thanking Martha Coakley. She was classy in defeat…he is classy in victory.
Well done Massachusetts (from a Pennsylvanian!)
January 19, 2010 at 11:31 pm
Yes, kudos to Ms. Coakley for being most classy and timely in what had to be a difficult defeat for her. She could have drawn it all out late and made it a painful evening for all, but did not. Thanking her for that example of grace.
January 19, 2010 at 10:41 pm
Senator Jim Webb puts out a statement that puts the notion of a quick Senate vote out of reach and pretty much makes a certification fight moot:
In many ways the campaign in Massachusetts became a referendum not only on health care reform but also on the openness and integrity of our government process. It is vital that we restore the respect of the American people in our system of government and in our leaders. To that end, I believe it would only be fair and prudent that we suspend further votes on health care legislation until Senator-elect Brown is seated.

I’m getting ready to go to bed, but I don’t want to change out of my brown sweater!
Although I’m not sure, I think I saw more people than usual wearing brown shirts today here in MN. It’ll be so nice to fall asleep tonight knowing that Obamacare is as dead as Jacob Marley…

Can’t wait for the WH press conference spin tomorrow–
Gibbs: “We were not aware of an election, we really don’t pay any mind to those kinds of things, I think the President was watching HBO all night.”
“Reforming America is still on track and we are celebrating all of the President’s accomplishments, the economy is improving, and the rest of world is worshiping him, need I say more”
Maybe Senator Brown (has a nice ring to it) should honk the horn of his truck when he drives by the White House every morning on his way to the capital, to remind the POTUS that the people of MA have spoken and they don’t like direction the country is going.
Not just congratulations to Scott but to all freedom loving Americans across the land who help anyway.
