Countdown to the Massachusetts Special Election…just 6 days now.
What are you doing to help Scott Brown, and what else is on your mind today?
Here’s some great new Hottie McAwesome artwork to inspire you, courtesy of the talented MizzJodee:

Haiti’s “White House”, which they called “The National Palace”, was destroyed yesterday in the 7.0 magnitude quake that hit the capital of Port-au-Prince. Their Parliament and other national buildings were taken out as well. It’s absolutely devastating.
It is our most sincere hope that former Presidents George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush can team up to bring order and relief to Haiti the way Bush and Clinton did to the areas afflicted by the 2004 Christmas tsunami. The Bushes and Clinton, combined, will make a powerful team. We also think they all like each other very much, and will work well together.
It’s embarrassing how little we think about Haiti on a regular basis. We don’t think we’d even seen a picture of Port-au-Prince since French class in college. We can’t imagine how much those people are suffering, but are sure to follow the rebuilding and recovery efforts closely, and hopefully seize the opportunity to pay more attention to the Caribbean and Latin America in the future.

Wondering why WordPress is suddenly banishing almost all my posts to the possible spam queue. Been happening for a week, maybe two? Did you guys change any settings lately?
January 13, 2010 at 2:28 am
Eric -
It’s just the amount of spam coming in. We’re getting attacked more than usual, since we ran the “America Rising” video. We notice the more spam that comes in, the more WordPress sees everything as spam. It just thinks everything coming in is bad. It’s very frustrating for us, since if we are not manning a computer all day, comments won’t show up but there is nothing we can do about it. Without the spam filters, the threads would fill up with the most vulgar things, and thousands of posts about Cialis and Viagra originating in Asia. It’s crazy.
January 13, 2010 at 2:35 am
There are a number of pre-built plugins for WordPress that are supposed to help reduce / manage the spam.
Basically, since my IP is a known “good” poster, there should be a plugin that would basically whitelist me.
But I’m guessing the wordpress hosted stuff doesn’t give you a lot of options. Bummer!
January 13, 2010 at 2:46 am
those plug-ins do work. The catchpa is a real help in controlling that kind of span.
January 13, 2010 at 3:01 am
This is so hard for many of you out there to understand, but we really, really don’t know much about computers. It’s surprising, we know, but it’s true.
The thing is, we are so busy with work and writing the original content that we never can get around to making improvements on the site. We’ve tried working with a few different computer people here in Chicago, but were screwed over each time. It’s beyond frustrating.
We need to invent that 25th hour in the day so get to everything we need to do.
We’d love to have a site that looks like http://www.DeadlineHollywood.com, with comments that post normally and some way to weed out all the nuts who love saying how much they want us to get AIDS or love to call Hillary or Sarah vile names.
THAT’S our goal. We like the look of that site, like how the posts fall, and can see HillBuzz reformatted visually but keeping our content the same, but with better comment setups….we just don’t know how to get there and have been burned repeatedly trying.
There’s a lot of pressure and stress behind the scenes of all this that we never share, but trust us we do everything we can to make sure comments post as fast as possible…but we just can’t be at the computer all day to make that happen.
January 13, 2010 at 7:01 am
God bless you guys I wish I was a computer nerd who could help. Unfortunately, I know zilch too. Maybe a blogger here would help.
January 13, 2010 at 7:48 am
Thanks for the explanation on the disappearing posts, guys.
Haiti is in an awful state. Our church has been helping a parish there and I am sure we will be taking up a special collection on Sunday. I hope Bill Clinton and the GHW Bush and GW Bush will help, too.
Hilary was on TV this morning detailing what she was doing. I found it interesting that she was on camera talking about this while Obama was sending written statements.

When you boyz have some time, could you comment on Patrick Hughes? I know I’ve seen stuff on here about Mark Kirk but don’t remember anyone else. I’m curious about your take on this.

Since I have been coming to south Fl in the winter for most of my life, including paying taxes here, we are long time victims of the problems in Haiti. The devastation from the earthquake while awful, will have a real backlash here.
We are overrun with illegal Haitian immigrants, years ago when they first started coming here, they were noted for their beauty, peacefulness, and willingness to work.
More recently, they seem to come here to commit the most horrible and violent crimes, and along with the Guatemalans, completely overrun our social services. In the stores and other public areas, many are extremely loud, rude, and create chaos. They have extremely large families, 8 to 10 children is not unusual. Just last year, they shot and killed two innocent bystanders inside a mall, in a drug deal gone bad. Their children born here, are citizens. Not saying they are all like this, but our way of life here is in the toilet, in many ways. If there is one goal that Sec. Clinton could achieve that would be greatly appreciated here, is to help Haiti become more stable, so we could stop importing their worst of the worst people to our region.
It is nearly impossible to sell a property in my area due to this influx..I would be gone if it were.
Sorry to sound mean, but hang out here for a while, then form an opinion.
January 13, 2010 at 5:37 pm
I understand your point. I also think that the behavior is learned here, sad but true.
I have met Haitians who have left south Florida just for the reasons you state the criminal element is out of hand. Unfortunately many immigrants move into communities that are a breeding ground for illegal activities.

One of my favorite destinations is the Dominican Republic which shares the island of Hispanola with Haiti. The DR is a much wealthier nation than Haiti and yet it is desparately poor. I can’t imagine the poverty in Haiti. I believe much of it is hidden from the world. When you drive from the airport to the ‘resort district’ one thing that you will see that cannot be hidden is the cows. Yes cows. My husband says look at the cows. You can see their rib cages protruding from their shallow bodies. The government cant do anything to hide that.

I tried to contribute to Brown and it wouldn’t let me!!! Will try again later.

Video: Coakley associate shoves Weekly Standard reporter; Update: Photo of assailant
http://hotair.com/archives/2010/01/13/video-coakley-campaign-shoves-weekly-standard-reporter/
That would be Michael Meehan of Blue Line Strategic Communications, who has worked for John Kerry, Maria Cantwell, and was sent to Massachusetts by the DSCC to handle “messaging” for Coakley.
You know, a state Attorney General should be the person to enforce the law — especially, as this photo shows, she witnessed the assault and battery …

Turning Point in Massachusetts
For the first time since the race began, I’m prepared to say a Scott Brown victory is a real possibility.
Just two weeks ago, I said “absolutely not.”
One week ago, I was thinking, “Well, it’s a long shot, but maybe . . .”
But everything changed yesterday.
The video of the Coakley staffer — most likely DNC hack and former Kerry campaigher Michael Meehan — shoving The Weekly Standard’s John McCormack to the ground, and then repeatedly shoving him again and again in view of AG Coakley, is a watershed moment. It could turn out to be a campaign killer.
First, it highlights the fact that Coakley had left Massachusetts to attend a lobbyist fundraiser in D.C.. Taking big bucks from Big Pharma in the middle of this fight? Dumb, dumb, dumb.
Then there’s the guy who got shoved. McCormack is the reporter who asked the question about Afghanistan that literally stopped Coakley in her tracks. After a few blinks of incomprehension, she answered by asking, “Does anyone ELSE have a question?” This issue is a disaster for Coakley because it reveals her utter lack of experience or (apparently) basic knowledge on foreign policy, just two weeks after a terrorist successfully got on a U.S. airplane.
And perhaps most damaging is the power of this example. If I were to summarize the attitude of the typical Massachusetts resident right now, it would be “tired of being pushed around.” Our governing class doesn’t even bother to pretend to pay attention to the people. The last-second rule change on Senate elections is just the latest example of political arrogance.
There are many Massachusetts voters who will see McCormack being shoved, and shoved again, and think, “I know how you feel, buddy.”
This is absolutely a disaster for the Coakley campaign.

Heads up!! Did anyone just see on Fox News Channel video of Michael Meahan, (Marty Meahan’s son) a supporter of Martha Coakley, rough up a reporter and throw him to the ground. It happened last night in DC. There are still shots also and Martha is right there, in front, clearly identifiable.

Well, I have stumbled upon another avenue for supporting the campaign.
After being on the green team, I decided to send some emails, too. I identified a target group and peppered them with “stand up for Scott Brown” emails. That stirred up a reaction, created confusion and distraction (who are you?). Last night they told me my missives had been lobbed into a hotbed of Brown supporters.
Comic relief is good for those people that are working so hard, don’t you think?

Sarah Palin had her first interview/appearance last night with Bill O’Reilly as a member of Fox News. She is a very common sense, smart, likeable, and real person. She has a way of explaining things so that she actually answers a question (unlike most politicians who never answer the question you ask) but also she has a way of “talking to Americans” with what is said and what is not said. I wish her well and you know what, I sure do wish she was now our president (second in line after Hillary that is). I would feel a whole lot safer than I do now. Obama being soft on muslims/terrorists makes me shudder. P.S. For those peace loving people out there who are of the muslim faith, this is not intended for you. My comments are intended for those people who hate us and wish to do this country harm.

This is off topic to the MA matter, but the guy that Obama picked to head the TSA is more worried abouat white supremasist groups in the U.S. than islamic terrorists. This president is so off target it is staggering!!!!

I’d like to challenge all of us who did the money bomb for Scott to donate to Haiti. Come on, Hill Buzzers……
January 13, 2010 at 5:29 pm
Pray for the people of Haiti! They deserve our thoughts and prayers. As for money. Please Please donate, donate clothes as well. Haitians are wonderful people who have no natural resources to offer the world. They are often forgotten and neglected. I have encountered many persons from Haiti who love this country, who work their asses off they migrated here LEGALLY, and ask for no help. Raising their familiy with the morals and values of days long gone. This is so heartbreaking.
Thank you Hillbuzz for mentioning it.
I too hope that former presidents gather to raise funds for this beautiful county that has endured more than we can imagine.

Did anyone else notice the America Rising video now has a Part 2, addressing the Republican Party? It is not filled with the awesome visual effects, but the message is loud and clear.

This is pretty interesting, based on what you guys said about the Tennessee tea party
January 13, 2010 at 8:14 pm
Hillbuzz, I give you guys credit for getting another one off the couch. I read the scolding out loud a few days back to my husband, while wondering what I could actually do from the left coast. He noted that we could at least donate.
Then, you created the teams. I’m in.
Green Team – check. Sent money and contacted everyone I know to have them do the same. Told THEM to pass it on.
Now, the only real time I have extra is late at night after I come home and my husband is in bed. I throw it away reading, playing computer games, or yakking on the phone.
No more.
I am finding every lib site I can to join as a concern troll. I have created a new (fun) name and created a new e-mail account. I have started a notebook to keep track of it all.
I am going underground, guys, and don’t plan to come in from the cold until November. But just for a day, then back in.
I don’t know where this is all going to take me, but I am fighting back. Maybe a blog. E-mail lists for sure. Facebook page? Who knows.
But, you got me started. I LOVE LOVE LOVE you guys. You know what brought me here first time? Your apology to George Bush.
There is no one out there like you. Thank you.

Here’s a post describing how to donate money to the red cross for haiti.
FYI:
The American Red Cross Wednesday reported that donations for its Haiti earthquake relief effort can now be made by text messaging.
Those interested in making a one-time $10 donation to this effort should send the message “Haiti” to 90999. The sender will receive an immediate reply, asking the person to confirm by replying “yes.” The $10 charge is then applied to the sender’s mobile bill.
“This will be a great way to get younger people, who are text-savvy, involved in the relief effort.” Bruce Rutter, CEO of the local Rhode Island Chapter, said in a press release. “It’s a lot easier than going online or making a call. I’m 58, and I managed the process in about 15 seconds.”

I guess a good picture graph is worth……

Great Observations on our times over at the Free Us Now blog.
Obama’s true color
…”Now they are allowing her and others to be pilloried in order to make Obama look better than he has a right to look. This new book Game Change, is a very bad idea because it is as obvious as the nose on Durante’s face that it is trumped up to prop up the failing Obama. The problem is – nothing short of a miracle can help the impotent POTUS now including this pack of lies.
What the book actually does is aggravate the living hell out of us Hillary supporters and give us one more chance to remind everyone what a raw deal the Democrats pulled on Hillary and the Majority of us citizens.
The Obama Dems did not believe the Hillary Dems when we tried to tell them that he had, in effect, stolen the caucuses by importing out-of-state voters and committed other corrupt caucus fraud – Strike One. …
