The Sixth Day of Obamamas

Posted at December 19, 2009 by HillBuzz // Hillbuzz

Everyone sing along!

On the Sixth Day of Obamamas, ‘The Lightbringer” promised me:

- Six tanker trucks full of pudding for Oprah

- Five tax cheating Cabinet Members

- Four unindicted, election-tampering Black Panthers in Philly

- Three coal-producing states put out of business

- Two tubs of purple zombifying Kool-Aid

AND

- A unicorn in an ACORN tree

*******

For those of you who are too RAAACIST to know this, Obamamas is the new national holiday honoring our current president, Dr. Utopia, The Lightbringer.  The motto of Obamamas is not only “Jesus Who?” but “Christmas is RAAACIST And so are all you People” (C.R.A.P. for short).

Obamamas is a total C.R.A.P. holiday –  celebrated with a large aluminum Grievance Pole staged in the center of your living room.  Upon it, you will display an empty suit honoring Dr. Utopia, the Lightbringer.  You will perform various rituals around this pole every hour, on the hour, to prove how not-RAAACIST you all are.  Al Sharpton, Henry Gates, and Jesse Jackson are watching, so you best get to it.  Obamamas isn’t going to just Obamamas itself.

Anyone who can help photoshop some images to go along with the 12 Days of Obamamas, starting with “A Unicorn in an ACORN tree”, would be much appreciated.  The more interesting takes on this the better…it should be a tradition in EVERY household starting this year, so everyone can celebrate all the wonderful things this man is doing to our country.

*******

Many thanks to Chrissy-the-Hyphenated for the GORGEOUS froggy Obamamas pics, and to Rain for the BEAUTIFUL unicorn in an ACORN tree (which we have a feeling we will be using OFTEN).  We are so amazed by people who can make such beautiful art…a talent we do not have at all.

Ghosts of Hillary Clinton's Iraq Senate Vote

Posted at December 19, 2009 by HillBuzz // Hillbuzz

Back in October of 2002, we remember sitting around the TV watching debate on the Iraq War resolution the Senate was passing.

We did not believe the Bush Administration’s reasons for going to war with Iraq. The whole case for taking the paper tiger of Baghdad out because he supposedly had weapons of mass destruction that could assault the United States was as plausible to us as claiming war was necessary because “Saddam Hussein must not build a time machine!”. Iran was, and remains, a great threat to the United States, with our worst enemy in the region actually Saudi Arabia, our supposed “friend and ally”. The Saudis fund global terrorism.  Sending the House of Saud the way of the House of Bourbon, guillotines included, is the quickest way, in our book, to cut terrorism to the quick. Iran, through proxies like Hamas and Hezbollah, is behind every attack on Israel. Saddam Hussein, at the time the Iraq War resolution was debated, spent his days drawing elaborate plans for mosques to be built in the shapeof his thumbprint.  He had blood taken out every day so a copy of the Koran could be written in it, for installation in his thumbprint mosque.  The man wrote bad romance novels, then turned them into stage plays, and produced them into unwatchable movies.

Not a nice man, for sure, with two of the craziest and most dangerous sons to ever walk the Earth, but on the list of targets we’d have pursued, he’d barely crack the top ten.

In retrospect, we now see why the Bush Administration did what it did, and appreciate the fact the Senate received briefings far more detailed and revealing than what the public has been made aware of.  War with Iran, or Saudi Arabia as we’d like to see, would have been untenable, for a host of reasons.  Saddam was a paper tiger, Baghdad fell in days, and the US now has a strategic foothold in the region with new bases to replace previous ones in Saudi Arabia.  We respect Bush for putting his presidency and legacy on the line to get us that new foothold, from which Iran will one day indeed be taken down; Iraq was a stepping stone to a much larger fight, and George W. Bush was a prescient, courageous, and selfless man to lay the groundwork for a future fight we need to have with the REAL menaces in the region.

But, in 2002, our hearts broke when Hillary Clinton voted for the Iraq War resolution — not so much because we didn’t want to go to war, but because we knew it sunk her presidential chances.  Back then, we expected Clinton to run for president in 2004.  We felt certain the public, while revved up for war in 2002 (just a little more than a year after 9/11), would sour on the concept by the next presidential race…and that Clinton would be harmed in the future if another candidate arose who could claim he was against the war, and thus rally gullible Liberals to his side. As much as we hate Liberals, Clinton needs them in her coalition to win…and she lost them in October 2002, never getting them back.

Clinton did the right thing for America, and the wrong thing for herself.  In very real terms, she lost the presidency because of that, but whatever information the Bush Administration gave her was worth taking the stand that she did.  Some day, when those Iraqi bases are used to take down the Muslim theocracy of Iran, and one of the greatest threats to Israel and the United States is at last removed, her sacrifice will be validated even more.

That one vote was a Before/After moment for Hillary Clinton, where nothing would be the same for her again once she cast her Yes in the Senate.

Today, Democrats in the Senate all face a similar Before/After moment.  Perhaps they have more information than we do, and know better than all of us who see unmitigated disaster coming in the form of Utopiacare.  But, every man, woman, and Harry Reid in the Senate needs to appreciate the fact that once they vote for Utopiacare, that’s the only thing that’s going to matter to many people.

Just as we knew voters would turn against the Iraq War lickety-split once 9/11 faded more deeply into memory, voters will turn against — with great anger — those Senators who vote to socialize medicine and take over the American economy.

Today, riding the bus, we passed one of Chicago’s hospitals and thought about the fact none of us here currently has health insurance.  Back when we had actual, permanent, office jobs, only two of us even bought health insurance, and to be honest it was a waste of our money.  We went for physicals, and found out we were totally healthy.  The deductibles on that were twenty or thirty dollars.  To find out nothing was wrong.  Twenty or thirty dollars is groceries for a week.  It’s also about three trips to Sidetracks for showtunes sing-a-long night, or two sausage and marshmallow After School Special pizzas from Pie Hole.

And the insurance cost something outrageous like $80-100 a month.  That’s more than our utility bills.  That’s a pair of new boots for the winter.  It’s like 10 sport coats from Ragstock or Brown Elephant.  It’s tickets to see 5 plays in the little theaters around Chicago. That’s almost 100 books from the resale shop.

For guys who eat right, exercise, brush our teeth, take care of ourselves, and rarely if ever get sick, sending $100 a month to Blue Cross didn’t do us much good…and deprived us of all the fun little things we could have done in Chicago with that money.

Feel free to lecture us on how not having health insurance is bad.  One of us here had a bad skiing accident a few years ago, which cost him $1,500.  Another one of us had a car accident, and that, too was several thousand dollars in bills.  But, those rare events cost less than paying insurace premiums would have cost us.  As ridiculous as that probably is.

When we passed by the hospital on the bus, we got angry thinking about the government FORCING anyone to buy health insurance.  The government should not be able to FORCE you to buy anything.  Where in the Constitution does the government have the power to FORCE you to buy things?

There’s provisions in the Constitution for the goverment to levy income taxes, which it does. We pay them because under the Constitution that’s a requirement of us as citizens.  We may not like it, but it’s right there in the Constitution, clear as day.  Forcing us to buy things is not in the Constitution, so we have a major problem with that.

There is no precedent for the anger this boils inside us.

We have a feeling that sentiment will be shared with tens if not hundreds of millions of other out there.  What Democrats are doing rushing through Utopiacare will come back to haunt them in a firestorm they personally have summoned.  God help them all, because we certainly won’t.

Since Ben Nelson’s been bribed, and is now on board with this madness, the bill will indeed pass.  The MSM will cheer.  The White House will gloat.  Democrats will congratulate themselves.  And voters will seethe with anger, getting madder and madder every day as they have the opportunity to read and fully understand the lunacy Democrats have wrought.

Doctors will be forced to abandon their practices.  Health insurance premiums will skyrocket.  The government will intrude into private lives like never before, telling people with little money how to spend the few bucks they have left. Employers will stop hiring because they won’t be able to afford insurance coverage.  Hospitals will go out of business.  What’s still being called merely “The Great Recession” will indeed become a full-blown Global Depression…all because of the 60 idiots voting for Utopiacare.

This act on their part will permanently split many from the Democrat party; these are the people who haven’t left already, the people who will become Palin Democrats in 2012.  It’s clear to us Mitch McConnel is allowing Utopiacare to pass because he knows what a party-destroying disaster it’s going to be for Democrats in 2010 and 2012.  We hope that means Republicans have a plan for eliminating this madness once they take Congress back next year.  This will now be a solid part of the Republican 2012 presidential platform, so we will look with great anticipation for what Governor Palin has to say about the way forward.

There are a lot of Democrat Senators we like very much, on personal levels.  Some of these people we got to know fairly well in the 2008 campaign.  We don’t think, after this vote, that we’ll ever be able to help these people in any way going forward.  We certainly won’t be able to stop the public backlash against them.

We hope this vote is worth losing their careers over.  Hillary Clinton knew what she was doing in 2002, and probably gave the presidency away to further US strategic interests longterm.  Whatever these Democrats are sacrificing their careers and futures for, we hope it’s as worth it to them.

AL GORE LIED

Posted at December 19, 2009 by HillBuzz // Hillbuzz

Here’s a great update on Climategate in Australia — which, like Britain, is one of the few places on Earth outside the blogs that Climategate is being reported on.

Let’s repeat that for emphasis:  the largest scandal in scientific history is only being reported in some British and Australian papers and the Internet.

Stunning.

Per the link above, Al Gore’s been caught in lies that, we believe, could end up putting him in jail.

(1) Gore’s lying about the emails leaked showing the Church of Global Warming’s high priests colluded to fabricate data, dump numbers that didn’t fit their predetermined curves, and generally unzipped and pissed gleefully over the scientific method.  Gore says all the emails are 10 years old, when in fact the emails GO BACK a decade, and include conspiracy to commit fraud as fresh as all that “Global Warming” being dumped all over the East Coast this weekend.

(2) Gore’s also lying about the absurd “peer review process”, where High Priests of the Church of Global Warming essentially take turns agreeing with one another, while working overtime to keep any dissenters from having their work go public to challenge the “official results”.  Once again, they’re doing to the scientific method what Cubs fans do to the latrines at Wrigley on cheap beer nights. And it’s just as revolting.

Great Merciful Zeus, Climategate is not the only big scandal in all of this…if any of you had any faith whatsoever remaining in the MSM, that should be permanently dashed now.

It is shameful the news networks in this country and the print dailies are ignoring the biggest scandal we’ve ever seen.

The Church of Global thinks it can survive this, but it’s wrong.

The MSM thinks it can hide the truth, but it’s wrong too.

We used to like Al Gore, but after all of this, we realize how long we were as well.

Iran, Israel and America

Posted at December 19, 2009 by Laura Rosen Cohen // Hillbuzz

Dear HillBuzz,

I’ve been spending a lot of time thinking about the current administration of your country, and how much damage has been done to your fine country in such a short time under your current leadership. I’ve also been thinking a lot about Iran, and I’ m sure I’m not the only one thinking about the relationship between Israel, Iran and America.

It seems to me that this is really a terribly unfortunate time for Iranians to have a shot at freedom. I would not at all be surprised if the Iranian “elections” if they can even be called that, were purposely postponed until the current administration took office. When I looked at the sea of protestors in Iran, trying to steal small breaths of freedom, I could only feel frustrated and saddened that there was no American president in office who would say to them: Mr. Ahmedinejad-tear down this wall. What the brave Iranian protestors heard was not even a ‘pretty please, Mr. Ahmedinejad, with sugar and a cherry on top, pretty please can you kind of stop cracking down on those protestors’. Nothing-they got no message of encouragement. The current administration in its initial silence and in its bungling and tepid further statements only encouraged the thugocracy of Iran.

When Natan Sharansky, the famous Prisoner of Zion, was imprisoned in the Soviet gulag, he said that the very moment that President Reagan uttered the words: Mr. Gorbachev-Tear Down This Wall-he knew that the Soviet Union was collapsing. It was simply the beginning of the end. Dissidents and political prisoners used a tapping system to tap out messages amongst themselves, and were elated that an American president had not only called the USSR an evil empire, but had called for its immediate destruction. Eventually, the trio of Reagan, Margaret Thatcher and the Pope made the wall fall down.

No such encouragement can be heard today for Iranians. That is not to say that the Iranian opposition is any more ‘democratic’ than Ahmedinejad. I believe that the support of Mir-Hossein Mousavi is the Iranian people showing that they want freedom. They don’t have any choices, but they are trying to demonstrate that they want choices, they want personal liberty and freedom. Mousavi would be an interim solution-as I see it-not really the better of two choices as Mousavi is also a certified lunatic, Jew-hating fanatic.

What does this mean for Israel? I believe that the current administrations attitudes toward Iran can only point to the fact that Israel is on its own with regard to Iran and its nuclear ambitions and capabilities. With the exception of John Bolton, there are few political leaders who really understand what Israel faces-a truly existential threat. Sadly, it appears that with respect to Israel, the current administration is far more concerned about the building of a few more houses in the contested “West Bank”, than the building of an inevitably apocalyptic nuclear bomb under the messianic, Mahdi-cult Shiia leadership of Ahmedinejad of Iran.

Please feel free to leave questions in the comments, and let me know if there is any particular topic you would like me to discuss in a future post.

Sincerely,

Laura Rosen Cohen

Christmas at Louella's

Posted at December 19, 2009 by HillBuzz // Hillbuzz

One of the little magazines here in Boystown ran a feature with various letters from readers detailing their worst Christmas presents.

One guy wrote in to talk about the dress and high heels his family in Kentucky bought him for Christmas, a month after he came out to them, because they thought all gay men want to dress up like unstylish women.  FYI: we don’t.  Most of us, in fact, make it through life without any sort of transvestitism.  Shocking, we know.

Another guy talked about an expensive video game he got from a boyfriend who was shady, and then a few days later the cops showed  up to arrest him because it was stolen.

Someone asked us what were our worst Christmas presents ever stories, and we really only have one — the Christmas Sebastian spent with his ex David’s family.  Anything odd that happened to the rest of us pales in comparison to “Christmas at Louella’s”.

Question of the Day: What do you think of "The Gore Effect"?

Posted at December 19, 2009 by HillBuzz // Hillbuzz

Years ago, Joaquin took the most amazing math class in college, called “Math for Liberal Arts Majors”. He signed up for it, primarily, because the instructor was one of magician Doug Henning’s former assistants — who became a math teacher at a small college in Ohio, as all magician’s assistants do.

Funnily enough, Joaquin’s parents took him to see Doug Henning’s show, and thus, years before, had seen this teacher on the stage without ever realizing one day he’d be in her class — where, ostensibly, she was teaching math, but was really talking about MAGIC.

The teacher told the behind-the-scenes on how many tricks were performed, including David Copperfield’s Statue of Liberty trick, and used magic examples to teach about code breaking, logic puzzles, and statistics.

One of the most memorable lessons was on probability, where the teacher had a list of odd events projected on the overhead screen…coincidental instances where John F. Kennedy and Abraham Lincoln’s lives had bizarre similarities (like Kennedy having a secretary named Lincoln and Lincoln having a secretary named Kennedy).  This led to a list of presidents who were assassinated, all ending in a “0″ year, for the year of their election  (that “curse” was broken with Ronald Reagan, elected in ’80, who survived his assassination in 1981).  Previous to that, there was a running list of presidents elected in “0″ years who were taken down by violence starting with Lincoln in 1860.

Ooky-spooky.

Joaquin learned you can pretty much make a list of just about anything look spooky with enough razzle-dazzle showmanship, and in that class the teacher proved someone clever and charismatic could make an audience believe anything was magical if she wanted them to.

So, this is what we think about when we hear talk of a “Gore Effect” — the phenomenon being observed where any Church of Global Warming event is summarily pounded by the forces of nature, to the point where many have been canceled.  Frequent headlines proclaim, “Global Warming Conference Canceled Due To Blizzard”, like the zany headlines Jay Leno used to run on the Tonight Show.

This week’s Hopenchangen Conference in Denmark was an unprecedented fiasco and farce, and the second biggest embarrassment the current president, Dr. Utopia, has suffered in Copenhagen (after having been humiliated this October when Rio, not Chicago, was awarded the 2016 Olympics, after both he and his wife gave long-winded, “Lookit me”, “give us what we want or we’ll call you RAAACISTS” speeches).

Copenhagen’s getting snow at this time of year for the first time in years…with the first White Christmas expected this century.  It’s a remarkable amount of snow, being dumped on the very part of Europe where the Church of Global Warming is holding it’s “The planet is superheating!” hysteria convention.

The same thing, to many, seems to happen EVERY time Al Gore’s High Priests and merry loons assemble to call for the tanking of Western economies to “stop Global Warming”.  Uh, that would be the same Global Warming that’s whalluping parts of the world that don’t normally get snow with massive amounts OF snow.

Maybe it’s time to get on the Global Cooling bandwagon, ManBearPig.

What do you think?  Have you ever seen a good list of all the times this has happened, where some Global Warming event was canceled because of freezing temperatures and massive snowfall?

Do you see a cosmic sense of irony here?

Do you detect the presence of magic?

How jealous are you Joaquin got to take Doug Henning’s magician’s assistant’s class?

What think you?

Saturday Open Thread: December 19th, 2009

Posted at December 19, 2009 by HillBuzz // Hillbuzz

What’s on your mind this Saturday?

Today’s the Santa Fun Run in Boystown…where guys dress up in skimpy Santa costumes, have a big party at Sidetracks, then at 3pm run up and down the street in Boystown like idiots…to raise money for the Howard Brown Center, one of the best charities here in Chicago, which helps people living with HIV/AIDS.

Guys have been sewing white fur trim to their little red Speedos all day today, or adding a few jingle bells to their little green elf jocks.

Not that we’d know anything about that, of course.  Wink, wink, wink.  Ho, Ho, Ho.

******

Do you have any interest in seeing the movie Avatar?

The MSM is falling all over itselves promoting this, but we think it looks incredibly stupid.

Is this an instance of us being out of synch with pop culture?  We also don’t see the appeal of Twilight, the Jonas Brothers, or Miley Cyrus, all of which are immensely popular.

Avatar looks so stupid.  Are you excited to see it, or have you seen it?  Personally, we had to sit through Ferngully: The Last Rainforest in grade school when it was forced on us one ‘Earth Day’, and that’s more than enough of that ecoindoctrination crap for us.

******

How awesome is this?  Going Vogue — the new season of RuPaul’s Drag Race.  We’ve actually met RuPaul several times, and one of her contestants from last year’s show lives here in Boystown and hosts events at Roscoe’s and other bars…several of the “girls” from Drag Race have been to Boystown many times, and they are all SO NICE.  RuPaul is funny, sweet, and kind.  She’s got a great sense of humor…”Going Vogue” is so sharp, so clever, and SO RuPaul.  We bet Governor Palin will get a kick out of this, too:

*******

John Paul the Great is one step closer to sainthood today.

The two men responsible for destroying communism and ending the Cold War are Ronald Reagan and Pope John Paul II, whom we refer to as John Paul the Great. We had the honor of meeting him in Italy in the 80s…and shook his hand…and felt an energy flow through it like nothing before.  He truly was special, and a living saint in our eyes.

The current Pope proves, in comparison, just how hard that man was to measure up to.  We’re repulsed by Benedict and everything he does…and miss John Paul the Great every day.

So glad the process is moving forward; sad he was not recognized, with Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, and Gorbachev by the current US president in commemorating the Fall of the Wall, because without John Paul the Great, that would not have happened.

Question of the Day: How much do you know about real estate and the next wave of crashes?

Posted at December 18, 2009 by HillBuzz // Hillbuzz

We’re not very expert in real estate matters, but have a lot of Realtor friends.  These people used to be phenomenally successful…but now, most of them are working part time in restaurants or retail shops because it’s been a month or two since they’ve received any real estate commissions.  One person hasn’t sold a single property since last Christmas.  And that guy is GOOD at what he does.  Really, really good.  No one has ever seen anything like this.

We’ve been talking for several months about all the abandoned malls around Chicago…especially the ones on Michigan Avenue that were once Wonders of the World…staggeringly tall, packed to bursting with shoppers, every sort of high-end store you could imagine.  It was incredible to come to Chicago and “shop the Magnificent Mile”, being dazzled by something you’d only see in movies.  Well, the Mile’s not so magnifiecent anymore.  Most of those malls are empty.  One of them has no stores left open in it at all, and is being turned into either a condo tower or a mausoleum.  They all look like looted pharaoh’s tombs.

Around the country, we’ve heard of large malls failing as anchor stores collapse.  In Chicago, other commercial projects have either shuttered, downgraded to the dollar stor tier of retail, or, if they were in construction, have stalled at empty pits that look like massive open graves.

For those of you watching real estate, we want you to chime in — how bad is it going to get as the mortgages on these big, empty malls start to collapse? If it’s been so long since Realtors we know have made commercial transactions, and it’s been a long time since retail shops were thriving in those buildings, and many of these have been for sale with no buyers for a year or more, doesn’t it stand to reason the owners of these properties could be running out of cash to make their mortgages.

And that should mean a giant wave of commercial foreclosures is on the way.

How close is it?

Will something like this happen?

What impact does that have on the economy?

What Chicago Democrats are planning to do to out Republicans Mark Kirk and Aaron Schock

Posted at December 18, 2009 by HillBuzz // Hillbuzz

This Wednesday, we went to a big Christmas party here in Chicago — one of the ones we weren’t invited to last year — purposefully — because we worked for the McCain campaign and were thus branded “traitors” here in Boystown.  So, we were punished, and cut off from the really good parties, where all the really interesting people go for the holidays.  This year, because so many people realize what a mess the current administration is, suddenly people don’t mind so much that we were DeMcCrats for McCain and remain Democrats for Palin (though that last one does make smoke come out of most of their ears).

Here are a few things we’re going to tell you in the hopes that some of you can get it to the right people and stop disasters from happening in the future.  We are giving you clear and present warnings of what Democrats are going to do to bring down two Republicans in the future — one next year, and the other when he himself tries to run for the Senate.  Both of these disasters can be avoided if these two men just came out of the closet.

We are, of course, talking about Mark Kirk and Aaron Schock.

Kirk’s case is more pressing because Alexi Giannoulias, the scion of the Broadway Bank mob banking family, is poised to win the Democrats’ nomination. The plan is to out Kirk during the general election to suppress conservative vote, and thus ensure Giannoulias carries the state. One of the key factors being considered is that, while Giannoulias is not black, and the black community will be upset a black candidate is not replacing Burris, black voters will turn out to keep a gay man from being elected to the Senate. They will turn out to vote AGAINST Kirk, not FOR Giannoulias.  Homophobia will help drive their vote, the same way it did in California to pass Prop-8.  There is nobody on Earth the black community loves to stick it to more than a white gay man.  They will vote gleefuly, and thanks to ACORN, often.

We were told at the party on Wednesday that we need to figure out who Mark Kirk shares a home with in Washington.  Apparently, that man may also be another member of Illinois’ congressional delegation.  We were told that during the general election the Giannoulias campaign will release, through surrogates, lurid details of exactly what goes on at the home Kirk shares with this other man in Washington.  It was implied this other man is in fact another gay Illinois Congressman. Apparently, it’s all between consenting adult males, so there are no Mark Foley scandals heading Kirk’s way, but he’s going to be painted as an untrustworthy liar…he’ll be ridiculed and mocked for his dishonesty, and his marital failings…and Republican voters that need to turn out to defeat Giannoulias will sit their butts home, the way they enjoy doing when they think they are “teaching the GOP a lesson”.  It is exactly what happened with Jack Ryan all over again.

Someone in the GOP, take Kirk down now before you select him as your nominee.  Find a man who can actually WIN…someone who conservatives will come out and support, but someone who black and Chicago elitist voters don’t feel any personal mission to “stick it to”.  Blacks and elites won’t be motivated to come out in full force for Giannoulias, because they will not like the fact a black is not replacing Burris in “Obama’s seat”.

The only way these people find motivation to vote is to “stick it to Kirk”.  That phrase kept being used over and over again on Wednesday.

We have no idea who Kirk’s “roommate” is in Washington, DC.  It sure would be interesting to chime in if you know — because in a few months, this is all people will be talking about.  Democrats at the party said the Senate seat is in the bag, because Kirk will go down in flames.

*******

The other interesting bit from the party was about Aaron Schock.  It is an open secret he is gay…and we finally got confirmation that Democrats do, indeed, have photos of Schock out in Chicago with other men.  We’ve been hearing for months this was true, and we’ve seen Schock with our own eyes out in Boystown, having very indiscrete times with Aberzombie sorts of guys.  Apparently, he has a boyfriend back in Peoria everyone knows about too.  Dems we know here in Chicago had asked us to try to get pics of Schock in MiniBar or other spots in Boystown, but we never got pictures of him.  Well, we found out on Wednesday that others do have the pictures.  But, they will be held for years until Schock tries to run for Senate himself.

By then, very foolish advisors in the GOP will have set him up with a fake wife, and maybe even a kid for a prop.  But those pictures of Schock in bars will always be out there…and then when he runs for Senate…BOOM…another Jack Ryan, another Mark Kirk.  It is widely expected Schock will run for Senate in 2014, to challenge Dick Durbin.

We believe if Schock comes out now…or even waits until just after the 2010 election, he can run in 2014 as an out and proud gay man and win that Senate seat.  We promise you, if he does this, we will personally campaign for him.  By all accounts, he is a decent and smart guy, and is certainly hard-working.

But he is putting Republicans at great risk by posing for photos with big-busted beards poolside, trying to deflect the truth about his homosexuality.  Schock needs to come clean and not lie to voters.  He crossed a line with those poolside photos: before then, he hadn’t denied he is gay or done any Rock Hudson, Tom Cruise, John Travolta, Liberace subterfuge. But, now Schock is lying to voters with his denials…while these photos are definitely in Dem hands just waiting to be used.

With so much time between now and 2014, who knows what else Schock will do to make the lies even more blatant…which will only succeed in making voters angry at more Republicans being outed…not the way to build trust in the conservative brand.

*******

Now, whenever we talk about Kirk, Schock, Charlie Crist, Rahm Emanuel, and other politicians being gay, some of you out there say “that’s none of anyone’s business”.  Well, it is indeed everyone’s business because these men are all deceiving the people they are asking to vote for them.  They say they are one thing, but then they do another.  These are all open secrets in Chicago that people feel perfectly comfortable talking about over Pilsners waiting in line for chicken satay at the buffet line of a Christmas party.  There is no whispering.  There’s no super-secret-don’t-talk-about-this-ever pledges.  The only reason you, yourself, don’t hear these things is because you do not live in Boystown and don’t spend your free time chatting up these Dem operatives here in Chicago.

This is, indeed, how we spend our free time…and the things we are told we pass on to you.

For verification, these are the same things our straight friends also hear in Republican circles, at the events they too, go to.  The last two weeks have been a flurry of holiday events.  At all of them, the topic of Kirk, Schock, and others being gay always comes up.  And no one is surprised — though with Schock, many women are disappointed, for a minute, and then after thinking about it they always, without fail say, “Yah, I always kind of thought that, but now it makes sense”.

The GOP at large should come out in support of Kirk and Schock, in particular, and get ahead of what the Democrats have planned.  Just imagine THAT.  The Republican party standing by two men who decide to be honest with voters…instead of waiting for the National Enquirer to break some salacious story about them.

Kirk is a flawed candidate without being outed as an excuse for many not to vote for him — there is no way to underestimate the hatred this man caused in many Republicans when he voted for Cap & Tax.  THEY ARE SEETHING MAD AT HIM, and that is not going away.  The GOP needs to get behind Patrick Hughes and Kirk needs to bow out and get his life together, if the Republicans want to do anything to stop Alexi Giannoulias, THE MOB BANK’S CANDIDATE, from becoming our next Senator.

As for Schock, he needs to just come out before the pictures of him in Boystown are dropped at some point in the future.  He’s safe for now, as there does not seem to be any intent to oust him from Congress in 2010…but the file’s being built on him for his expected 2014 Senate run, and Boystown in Chicago and DuPont Circle in DC are much too attractive to a young gay man not to bet that will be a VERY thick file used against him if he continues to deny who he is and set  up those Rock Hudson photo shoots poolside for the next four years.

Both of these men need to get Howard Bragman on their speed dials…he’s the man who just helped Meredith Baxter come out, and who’s helping a major rock star come out in 2010.

Bragman can help avert more GOP self-inflicted disasters, if only Republicans were smart enough to stop lying to their own voters.
