What’s on your mind this Saturday?
Can you give us a recap of your Christmas?
What we’re most interested in hearing about (besides how good the food was) are the political bits that came up in conversation. Do you have any Utopians in your families? Are they still kneeling before their Lightbringer, awaiting unicorn delivery, or are they questioning “The Golden Age of Hope and Change”?
How angry were your relatives at Ben Nelson, the shameless whore of the Senate?
Please share.
We’ll have our own holiday roundup ready sometime today, so you’ll get all the scoop on what Christmas was like here in Boystown. No surprise here, we’re sure, but there were indeed Naughty Elves and Holly-Jolly Strippers.
********
Here’s something that should get a lot of 20-30 something Utopians up in arms: their Lightbringer is taking away their Flex Spending Health accounts.
Few of us have ever worked anywhere with Flex Spending accounts, but in the rare instances when we worked in offices full-time and had benefits packages, this was our favorite perk. Flex Spending accounts let you buy over-the-counter health items without having to pay income tax on that. It’s amazing, really. Some companies let you allot up to $5,000/year into your Flex Spending account. You get a little Flex Spending credit card that you then use to purchase whatever you need from the drug store, pay for doctor visits, cover your dental procedures, etc. You can also pay with cash or another credit card and then fax your receipts into your Flex Spending provider and have them covered.
It’s, in a word, wonderful.
You still pay the tax on the products at the point of purchase, but the money you put into your flex spending account is deducted from your pay BEFORE income tax is taken. So if you put $5,000 into your Flex Account and spent it all in a year, and you made $30,000, then at income tax time you only show $25,000 for the government to pillage. We’ve known people who had their teeth fixed (as braces aren’t covered in any plan we’ve seen after age 19), had other medical procedures they needed that insurers also weasled out of covering, and who have families that break the bank in over-the-counter eye and allergy purchases save themselves a great deal of money in this program.
But, the White House is now taking this away. Only insulin and prescription medication will be allowed in Flex Spending Plans. That means no braces for you, snaggle-tooth.
Remember: Republicans who sat out the 2008 election because “McCain wasn’t good enough” need to accept responsibility for what happens when a radical socialist takes power who wants to snatch as much of your money as possible and make it harder and harder for you to live a decent life.
This is the change that was promised; hope you like it.
********
Nevadans are asking Harry Reid: “Where’s our Christmas present?”.
If shameless whore of the Senate Ben Nelson bent over and smiled big for Reid, abandoning whatever principles he had regarding abortion funding, after getting an ETERNAL exemption from Medicaid increases for Nebraska (which is unconstitutional, by the way), then what has Reid brought home for Nevada?
We hope Sue Lowden really, really clobbers Reid with this one.

Same old stuff. Right-thinkers are outraged; left-wingers are still drinking the Kool-Aid. I abandoned George HW Bush when he said, “Read my lips: no new taxes,” and then proceeded to raise taxes, but these Utopians are much harder to break. They still believe The One is telling them the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I saw this video of Newt Gingrich yesterday and it is really inspiring. I know many complain that Newt is too moderate, however he is a true patriot and a defender of the US and its Constitution.
I’d like to know what others think about him running for Prez. Watch the video and let me know.

Deb -
The man divorced his wife in the hospital while she was dying of cancer.
We can never get passed that.
If it’s Gingrich v. Utopia, we will sit out and not vote.
December 26, 2009 at 11:35 am
Yeah Gingrich will not get the Republican vote. Only if the RNC wants to lose will they put Gingrich as the candidate.
He is a patriot, and that is good, but I don’t want him to be our President because I don’t trust him to do what needs to be done to get this country back on track.
December 26, 2009 at 12:09 pm
Didn’t know about the divorce thing. Not good.
December 26, 2009 at 12:36 pm
Agree wholeheartedly, HB. Unless there’s someone out there whom we don’t yet know about, for me, it has to be Palin…and preferably as a totally rogue INDEPENDENT.
Screw these damn parties, already. They amount to one and the same thing: self-serving pigs who’re hostile toward the American citizenry.
December 26, 2009 at 12:45 pm
Sarah dismantled the corrupt Alaska GOP, starting with defeating the incumbent Gov.
In contrast, Obama benefitted from the corrupt Chicago Dems.
I vote Sarah too :)
December 26, 2009 at 12:42 pm
He also divorced wife #2. He was having an affair with the woman he’s married to now.
He’s a great thinker–policy and strategy. But he’s too much of an insider and, I too, don’t trust him.
December 26, 2009 at 1:33 pm
But she’s not dead.
December 26, 2009 at 11:48 am
Never, never, never Newt as President. He can have some good ideas, but he is very happy being buddies with the liberals in Congress.
And what he did to his wife was obscene.
There are people with values out there somewhere!
December 26, 2009 at 12:51 pm
Never more vote RINO (any). All talking tough now??? Trojan Horses! 2012 Palin POTUS 2010/2012 Bachmann Speaker of the House
December 27, 2009 at 9:30 am
I agree. And Mitt Romney is the favorite of the Eastern Elite to run. He would be a bad choice – he presided over the establishment of government-run health care in Massachusetts, after all.
December 26, 2009 at 11:32 am
Great Christmas with family. The whole dinner topic was political. Everyone is nervous, and yes two Dems admitted their mistake in voting for the anointed one. These are the same two that were happy as clams last Christmas over the election of the dear leader… Perhaps there is hope…
My cousin said, ” I thought he would fix everything” ( and she was serious)
My uncle ( her father ) said ” He never campaigned on fix.. He campaigned on “change”.. I tried to tell you that, now you owe us all an apology”…
December 26, 2009 at 12:27 pm
I think I just fell in love with your uncle.
December 26, 2009 at 12:38 pm
Uncle will have a potential harem before this day is over! hahahaha
December 26, 2009 at 11:44 am
We had a wonderful Christmas with just immediate family as we are snowed in with a blizzard in North Dakota. Highways are closed through out the state. This is our third day.Very enjoyable and relaxing. Everyone is safe. I missed seeing my Dad, sisters, etc but heck maybe at new years. God Bless all of you and keep your safe.
Merry Christmas
December 26, 2009 at 11:46 am
No discussion on politics at my family Christmas gathering. Myself and two sisters are anti-Obama, 1 brother who is union and his wife pro-Obama, as is on other sister who really doesn’t agree but will NEVER admit she is wrong. Nieces and nephews mostly voted for Obama as they are either teachers or something similar.
NOT saying anything is a sign they are uncomfortable. Last Christmas everyone was talking about how exciting it was, and bragging about going to rallies and seeing him, donating, etc.
Now….crickets. I am content with that, as I didn’t want our family gathering to deteriorate into a big fight.
We had a nice family gathering with lots of food and great, creative presents. Today I am starting to organize and put things away.
December 26, 2009 at 12:38 pm
The shift that could happen already did last year. My stepdad who was a political appointee in the Dept of the Interior back in the Carter Administration, and a lifelong Dem…switched to Rep to vote for McCain and is not going back.
This is the equivalent of watching Martians land in my front yard and made me talk to myself for months. He is BEYOND pissed off at the DNC, still.
One of my sisters, still a registered Dem, is a massive Palin fan and voting Rep these days. My other sister is a political idiot and will always vote Dem because she thinks that they’re ‘nice’.
I will note that family and friends who are Dems and are still Obama supporters are saying NOTHING at all about the subject. I had one that used to gloat in my face about him, and now she’s silent.
December 26, 2009 at 11:52 am
We were snowed in,too, and our son and his family could not make the drive in this darn blizzard.
So, it was just my hubby and I. The liberals in our family are on his side, a nephew and a niece. I suspect they still support Obama.
December 26, 2009 at 11:53 am
We had a great Christmas dinner with dear friends. Their youngest daughter is IN LOVE! and sparkling more than any Christmas tree ever. So sweet. (I think the boyfriend is more in heat than in love, but that’s probably about normal – LOL)
The after-dinner talk turned to the health-care fiasco with all agreeing that 2010 has to be the Year of REAL Change!
December 26, 2009 at 12:02 pm
I was snowed in also, so Hubby and I had a quiet Christmas.
I spent some time on the computer and came across an interesting photo.
We know that – as well as his birth certificate – barry has refused to release his medical records. This photo shows an obvious scar on his head. A pretty ugly one.
http://wtpotus.wordpress.com/2009/12/23/obamas-nasty-scar/#more-761
I find it confusing and a bit annoying that the writer of the article continues to describe the scar on the left side of his head, when it is obviously on the right side.
Regardless, the picture is worth taking a look at. I think it will make a lot of you wonder.
December 26, 2009 at 12:42 pm
Wow–I always thought that was from his haircut. And yeah, I don’t get the “left side” thing either, unless the photo is flopped.
December 26, 2009 at 2:02 pm
It’s not flopped. The writer is probably like a bf I had once who wore a ring on his right hand as a mnemonic, because he could never remember which was which.
The first time he pointed left and said, “Go right,” I said, “Which is it?!” He said, “Always go with the hand. I get the words mixed up all the time.”
Anyhoops, I have a collection of Obama photos and never noticed until today that they’re ALL aimed straight on or show his left side, which now makes sense. They don’t want his scar showing so much in his photos.
The ear below the scar also has a little fold in the lobe, which his left ear does not have.
December 26, 2009 at 12:06 pm
Well there are no Pro Utopia people at my house. Which is probably a good thing, since I broke my foot Wed. night and would not of been happy to hear any thing good about him. We had a wonderful time bad mouthing him, and the health care mess, Then we all played games and ate some more.Hope your Christmas was wonderful.
December 26, 2009 at 2:08 pm
Our group all agreed about politics, but my dd wisely said she did NOT care to spend her too-brief visit with us being angry, so after everyone had admired my Obamamas graphics and we vented for a while, we turned our talk to more pleasant subjects.
December 26, 2009 at 12:13 pm
Dear HB,
I work in a Democratic law firm. Originally, the partners were huge Hillary fans. One partner in particular loved the strong woman aspect of Hillary.
But, I suspect that when the time came to vote, they cancelled each other out because one partner kept saying that Obama would be the next president and was pretty snarky about Sarah, but the other was mostly silent on Obama.
Since then, throughtout the year the “Obama will be president” partner would make snide remarks about Sarah. But, as the year progressed, I noticed a change in tone to the point where I once teased him about having a crush on Sarah.
For Christmas, I gave each of them a copy of Going Rogue. The critical partner thanked me and said, “I’ll keep an open mind,” which, to me, was huge.
The other partner said he liked my inscription. Part of it said that if he got caught reading it he could just say he was doing “opposition research.” (I think I may have gotten that idea from you boys.) Then he said that I had better hope there was enough in there that will make people want to actually VOTE for her.
On Christmas Eve day, the critical partner commented that the Obamas were going to spend $4000 a day for their Hawaii vacation and didn’t they know that there was a recession on. He asked if anyone knew where Clinton spent his Christmases.
As I was leaving for the Christmas break, the other partner gave me a “little present just from me to you.” Inside was a button with Sarah’s picture on it. It said, “You can’t keep a good woman down – Palin 2012.”
I think it would be fair to say that the bloom is off the rose for Dr. Utopia.
December 26, 2009 at 12:29 pm
Didn’t the Clintons stay with friends or had the use of their homes for their vacations? It appears the Obamas have no friends :D
We know about the Crawford ranch for the Bushes. They loved spending time there. They owned it. Bush 1 had his beloved Kennebuckport. Reagan had his ranch in CA….etc.
I wonder why the Obamas never go to Chicago? If they still own that home, it must cost them plenty to maintain it…empty?
December 26, 2009 at 12:49 pm
You appear to be correct (as usual, Ms. D;):
Clintons Borrow Vacation Home Again
By DOUGLAS JEHL,
Published: December 30, 1993
HILTON HEAD, S.C., Dec. 29— For the third time since he took office, President Clinton and his family are spending a holiday at a luxurious resort in a vacation home borrowed from an absentee host whom they hardly know….

December 26, 2009 at 1:02 pm
For Christmas (previous posts) Ron and W stayed in WH or Camp David so most of Security and Staff had family time. Class Shows.
December 26, 2009 at 12:41 pm
this made me cry, just a little – maybe there’s a silver lining here after all!
December 26, 2009 at 1:32 pm
I, a Palin skeptic, encouraged by Sarah despising relative to look at Sarah’s notes on Facebook and pretend no name was attached to them. What would you think of these comments if you didn’t know who wrote them?
She, like me, was a Hillary fan, and perhaps the most symptathetic to Obama. Interestingly, I was always the lefty liberal at family gatherings, but no more, so it was different.
December 26, 2009 at 1:33 pm
I meant “encouraged my”
December 26, 2009 at 12:18 pm
I forgot this: a couple folks at the gathering don’t even know what’s in the health care bill and don’t care – they just heard everyone will get free medical care and that’s just great! Why would anyone not like that? (Then they continued texting friends.)
December 26, 2009 at 12:46 pm
Dolts, who will no doubt be subsumed during the shift in consciousness.
No wait–that’s mean (moon in Aries today affecting me negatively ;). They’ll just stay in this dimension while we all move into the next one.
/whoo-whoo factor off
December 26, 2009 at 12:58 pm
Well HB, I wish I had funny antecdotes to tell you. I was stuck in the house due to GLOBAL WARMING, formerly known as a blizzard. I had a bottle of wine, which helped tremendously, since I was entertained by a four and seven-year old. Global Warming piled up in front of our door, so we had to go out through the garage to make a Global Warming man. Who’d ever thought…a Global Warming smacks down Oklahoma the night before Christmas. Huh.
December 26, 2009 at 1:16 pm
“Global Warming Man”… I love it!!! I hope you made him look like Al Gore!!
December 26, 2009 at 1:16 pm
We had global warming rain in Florida. We may sink into the ocean! My brother-in-law and his wife are anti-Dem so we mostly discussed how bad things were now. Depressing but the food was good.
O/T Has anyone seen the ad (was on Fox) for City Year.org? It’s scary at the end. Is this the new AmeriCorp or something? Red jackets are coming!
http://www.cityyear.org/default_ektid13307.aspx
December 26, 2009 at 1:35 pm
City year is not new. Sort of like a domestic Peace Corps, which on its face, would be noble. But since I trust no one in this government, the specter of indoctrination weighs heavily as a potential bastardization of a good concept.
December 26, 2009 at 1:59 pm
The ad I saw today was chilling to say the least. It looks like they will be doing indoctrination on children and the word “change” is peppered in it. Mind control starting in big urban cities.
December 26, 2009 at 1:34 pm
I refuse to waste too much time thinking about Newt. His behavior in marriage(s) and divorce(s) … through … his words and actions during recent elections.
Nor, will I search my memory or the e-stacks for more on the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. In his home county, Cobb, we had this:
http://www.qrd.org/qrd/usa/georgia/1994/cobb.county.update-9.94
Although I thought it, I can’t say he was supportive of ‘ban the queers’. But, at the very least, I had an impression that he was very remiss in his attention.
I am straight, and was pissed.
December 26, 2009 at 1:37 pm
His half-sister, Candace, is a well-known politically active lesbian.
December 26, 2009 at 2:13 pm
I just gathered this scary but apparently true info:
The Obama administration has created a separate Interpol agency within the Department of Justice and Obama just signed an Executive Order that frees it from search and seizure by law enforcement and from the Freedom of Information Act.
Via this new Interpol office at the DOJ, the government can legally keep files on any of us and we have no right to redress. Interpol’s premises and staff can no longer be searched. Interpol’s files are not subject to legal subpoena or discovery. The government can also divulge American military secrets to other world powers and we have no right to redress.
Basically, Obama has ceded U.S. sovereignty and fast tracked us on to the road to internationalism.
================================
1) Executive Order 12425 was signed on June 16, 1983 by Ronald Reagan. It reads:
By virtue of the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and statutes of the United States, including Section 1 of the International Organizations Immunities Act (59 Stat. 669, 22 U.S.C. 288), it is hereby ordered that the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), in which the United States participates pursuant to 22 U.S.C. 263a, is hereby designated as a public international organization entitled to enjoy the privileges, exemptions and immunities conferred by the International Organizations Immunities Act; except those provided by Section 2(c), the portions of Section 2(d) and Section 3 relating to customs duties and federal internal-revenue importation taxes, Section 4, Section 5, and Section 6 of that Act. This designation is not intended to abridge in any respect the privileges, exemptions or immunities which such organization may have acquired or may acquire by international agreement or by Congressional action.
================================
2) Regan’s EO was amended in Executive Order 12971 on September 15, 1995 by Bill Clinton. It amends the text so it reads:
By virtue of the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and statutes of the United States, including Section 1 of the International Organizations Immunities Act (59 Stat. 669, 22 U.S.C. 288), it is hereby ordered that the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), in which the United States participates pursuant to 22 U.S.C. 263a, is hereby designated as a public international organization entitled to enjoy the privileges, exemptions and immunities conferred by the International Organizations Immunities Act; except those provided by Section 2(c), Section 3, Section 4, Section 5, and Section 6 of that Act. This designation is not intended to abridge in any respect the privileges, exemptions or immunities which such organization may have acquired or may acquire by international agreement or by Congressional action.
================================
3) On December 16, 2009, Barack Obama issued Executive Order 13524 that further amends the above, so it now reads:
By virtue of the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and statutes of the United States, including Section 1 of the International Organizations Immunities Act (59 Stat. 669, 22 U.S.C. 288), it is hereby ordered that the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), in which the United States participates pursuant to 22 U.S.C. 263a, is hereby designated as a public international organization entitled to enjoy the privileges, exemptions and immunities conferred by the International Organizations Immunities Act. This designation is not intended to abridge in any respect the privileges, exemptions or immunities which such organization may have acquired or may acquire by international agreement or by Congressional action.

Chrissy, I was actually starting to feel a little better after this week with the health care bill and terrorist attack, until I got to your post. Obama can’t be an American patriot and do these things. I think I’m going to escape from politics for a few days and go watch the movie “Up”.
December 26, 2009 at 5:58 pm
Ashter,
Anytime I start to feel down, I watch “Up”.
I love that movie.
December 26, 2009 at 6:10 pm
INTERPOL is not part of the US government – but for the first time, Obama has granted them immunity – just like Ambassadors from other countries have.
To me, the big concern is that the Obama Administration is now going to allow INTERPOL to come after American Citizens (like President Bush, any American Military person, etc.) if some stupid World Court (run by bureaucrats and despots) wants to declare that any of them have committed some kind of war crime or whatever.
This puts “World Courts” above our Supreme Court.
I don’t know if the Obama Administration has the legal right to do this unilaterally. Seems to me that the Senate (which currently sucks anyway) should have to ratify something like this.
December 26, 2009 at 2:21 pm
Best predictions for 2010 I’ve heard thus far. Wait for the one about Utopia!!! heheheh!
December 27, 2009 at 10:35 am
GNH, this is HILARIOUS. Thanks for posting.
I love her deadpan’delivery’.
Agree that the Present Zippy prediction is particularly funny, because it includes an all-important ‘visual’.
‘Obama is going to come out as a cross-dresser and start wearing a balleriner outfit for all his speeches.’
Oh, man, that is so effing funny. I laughed so hard I’m still having a coughing fit and will have to pull myself together before clicking ‘replay’.
December 26, 2009 at 2:49 pm
I would just hate it if Newt were the nominee, but I gotta say, I would vote and campaign for anyone who is running against Barry. I’m shocked that the buzzboyz said they wouldn’t vote, as right now our main objective is to get rid of this guy. Sarah is the best one to beat him, and I would love that, but anyone will do.
December 26, 2009 at 3:01 pm
We had our first Merry Recession gathering. Instead of turkey and ham we had hot dogs. Instead of giving thoughtful gifts, we had everyone bring junk from the dollar store.
We experienced our very first Obamamas, and through the tacky gift exchanged, all of the children in attendance took a lesson in Obamcism. They did NOT like it when the gift they picked from under the tree could be taken from them for no reason.
A good time was had by all. But most importantly, the children learned what Communism, Socialism and Obamaism is really all about.

States With Expanded Health Coverage Fight Bill
By KATE ZERNIKE
States that have already broadly expanded health care coverage are pushing back against the Senate overhaul bill, arguing that it unfairly penalizes them in favor of states that have done little or nothing to extend benefits to the uninsured. …
