Starting Monday, you need to get your butt off your couch and head down to your Senators’ field offices if there is any way you possibly can. Get as many people as possible to go with you.
Go Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
SCREAM at the staff there that you are organizing as many people as you know to defeat every single person voting to enact socialism in this country by passing the Utopiacare bill.
SCREAM.
We have been told by people who’ve worked for Senators that so few people show up at field offices that every one of them is treated like 10,000 people’s opinions. Some field offices go WEEKS without a single person showing up and crossing the threshold.
These people work for YOU. They have a legal obligation to take a meeting with you. Someone on that staff HAS to talk to you, because you pay their salaries. Bring your kids, bring your parents, bring your neighbors, bring everyone you can.
Scare the living Hell out of these people.
It doesn’t matter if your Senator is a Republican or Democrat, scare all of them. They all talk to one another. They need to know how angry the public is about this.
Go to your Congressional reps’ offices too. They will make sure the message gets to Washington as well. Scream at all of these people.
It has come to this: that we are encouraging people to go out in public and scream and yell. But that’s what needs to be done.
It is our great hope that those of you who read us and read other sites too will encourage all other places you read to encourage their readers to do the same thing.
Melting the phone lines is not enough. You need to go in person to your elected officials’ offices, demand to be heard, and scream in their faces that you will not sit idly by while socialists take over this country. You need to tell them you are mad as hell and are not going to take it anymore.
For all those of you who didn’t want to vote for John McCain because he was not conservative enough and sat out the 2008 election letting Dr. Utopia win — this is your fault, this is what we warned everyone would happen if he won, and so Republicans who didn’t vote for McCain, in particular, need to really raise their voices and get off their butts now.
We will be harassing the offices of the entire Illinois Congressional delegation next week…Monday through Thursday. We are bringing as many people as we can.
You need to do your part too.
******
UPDATE: To be 100% clear, every single member of the House and Senate needs to be screamed at next week. EVERY one of them. Republican and Democrat. They need to see firsthand how angry the American people are. Even the ones who are voting NO need to be screamed at too, so that they get a little extra fire in them too. They need to know the people are behind them in voting NO. People need to scream their heads off all next week. Make it cathartic. We will be screaming at Senators Durkin and Burris, and will take great joy in screaming at Jan Schakowsky, our Congressional rep…the worst member of Congress after Pelosi herself. We will scream ourselves hoarse, and go to these offices Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
And then, if this bill really does pass, everyone who votes for it needs to be defeated in their next election.
This will mean, for us, working against people we have long supported. That’s going to be tough. But, here’s what it boils down to for us:
This vote is a Before/After moment in our history. When the vote is made, all the things we thought about people before the vote will be muted by what we think of them post-vote. This bill has not been read by anyone. It’s purpose is to takeover 1/6 of the economy. It is being rammed through at lightspeed without proper consideration or debate. This is reckless legislation and anyone not standing in its way is in gross dereliction of duty. Anyone voting for a bill this large, this expensive, and this nation-changing without fully understanding every word written in it should not be in Congress because they are incompetent.
And we hope all 60 Democrats eventually lose their seats if they vote YES on this, as expected.
We will work to defeat all of them, even those we consider friends.
If Hillary Clinton was in the Senate today, and she voted Yes on this, we would work to defeat her too.
Read that again a few times so we are clear — this is such a travesty, that we would WORK AGAINST Hillary Clinton and defeat her re-election if she voted for this monstrosity.
To us, more than anything, this is a test of competence:
* the bill is not even written and they are voting on it, which should be unconstitutional
* no one has read the bill, and they are voting on it, which should be illegal
* no one understands what’s in the bill or how much it will cost but they are voting on it anyway, which should be grounds for their removal under the umbrella of incompetence to the point of being unable to discharge their elected duties
If you vote for this bill, you are a buffoon who does not belong in Congress because you cannot meet the minimum job requirements for your office.
It is that simple.
Whatever we thought of you before, after you do this, you prove to us you should not be a Senator.
December 19, 2009 at 1:42 pm
I read somewhere that the vote would take place at 1am Monday? Did I hallucinate that?
December 19, 2009 at 1:45 pm
There are multiple stages to the vote…leading to a final vote on Christmas Eve. The 1am Monday vote is a procedural one, the first of several to cut off debate and opposition to ram this through.
December 19, 2009 at 5:32 pm
HB, They’ve already “cut off debate” with the American people. I just finished calling and faxing ALL the top 15 contacts. EVERY Senator’s mailbox is full and EVERY fax returned to me. I also read that they are NOT seeing any constituents.
You are correct. We must go to their offices and SCREAM.
December 19, 2009 at 5:37 pm
It is illegal for them not to see constituents. By law, someone from that office has to meet with you and talk to you. If you live in the state, you are entitled to speak to the Senator and Congresscritters offices. They cannot refuse you.
That is YOUR tax dollars paying for that office.
December 20, 2009 at 11:24 am
I am confused… If they cut off debate do they not need 60 votes?
I was under the impression Evan Bayh (D-IN) was voting NO.
he keeps sending out “we need to be fiscally responsible’ emails ect….
December 20, 2009 at 12:56 pm
I am not confused anymore.. basically voting to end the debate means that all Ried needs is a simple majority.
So.. Evan Bayh can vote to end the debate but vote against the bill.. either way.. he is a sell out. All they need is 51 votes. What a bunch of crooks.
From redstate.com:
The Senate version of the Democrats’ so-called health care reform is so unpopular, Nevada’s Harry Reid finds it necessary to vote on it at 1:00 a.m.
David M. Herszenhorn reports the Democrats must conduct six votes to pass their Obamacare — one of the crown jewels of Obamaism:
•1 a.m. MONDAY – To end debate on “a manager’s package” that includes all the latest changes to the bill. 60 votes required.
•7 a.m. TUESDAY – To approve the manager’s package. Simple majority required.
•Also TUESDAY – To end debate on Mr. Reid’s original health care proposal, as amended by the manager’s package. 60 votes required.
•1 p.m. WEDNESDAY – To approve Mr. Reid’s original proposal. Simple majority required.
•Also WEDNESDAY – To end debate on the finalized health care legislation. 60 votes required.
•7 p.m. THURSDAY, Christmas Eve (or anytime after the prior vote if all senators agree) – To approve the final bill. Simple majority required.
Reid’s 400 pages of changes to the Obamacare legislation the Democrats are rushing through the Senate were revealed only this morning, so the vote the Democrats scheduled for the middle of the night will come less than 40 hours after the amendments were made available — well short of the 72 hours Democrats promised the bill would be available before any vote:
December 20, 2009 at 12:35 pm
David Vitters facebook page says they have 63 votes.
Republicans obviously are voting for this crap too.
they all need to be voted out.
December 20, 2009 at 11:58 pm
It’s going on NOW, but even CSPAN isn’t covering this bullshit!
I guess they got a “stimulus” bonus too!
December 19, 2009 at 1:51 pm
[...] can to go to our political representatives’ and senators’ offices this coming week and “scream at them.” I think it’s a good idea and want to pass it [...]
December 19, 2009 at 1:56 pm
You know I love you, so I am suggesting this delicately, but will Senator BURRIS be on your scream-out list?
LU
December 19, 2009 at 2:03 pm
Everyone who votes for this bill will be screamed at.
Including our friend Burris, who we do love as a person, but who will get screamed at too. Every Democrat who votes for this bill should be screamed at because it’s such a bad bill.
On that principle alone they should be screamed at: no one has read this, no one knows what’s in it, yet they are ramming it through. This is reckless, unAmerican, and we can’t stand by it silently.
December 19, 2009 at 2:13 pm
You’ve inspired me to go to the field office of my “Democratic” senator, who campaigned on a platform of “I won’t roll with the party” and then votes party line so quickly nobody asks him his position on anything.
I’m a small business owner, and my story is only one of millions. I will NOT be hiring in the new year because I CANNOT afford the additional money per month for health insurance. My husband and I already trade parenting duties on the weekend, each working 6 days per week with no time for ourselves, so we can meet payroll and worse, payroll TAXES. We don’t cover ourselves with health insurance, but were willing to cover our employees who asked us for HSAs because they are young and like you, will never “use” the monthly premium worth of health care.
Course, I’d love to actually have in hand the motherstuffing bill so I can skool the office with it, but I’ll just have to make due with IRE and my Supervoter status.
Love to you, yours, and all the things you care about this holiday season.
LU
December 19, 2009 at 2:42 pm
thank you for that!
You’ve inspired me, I’ll going to Webb’s local office and yell at them.
December 20, 2009 at 2:07 pm
Me too! I have found a person who visits Hillbuzz and we are going to our Senator’s office on Tuesday to KICK SOME BUTT!
Whoo Hoo! Time to get into the faces of these traitors!
December 20, 2009 at 6:34 am
Hillbuzz, why is Bill Clinton supporting this bill? He has been pushing it as well. We can’t trust these dems. They are not the party our parents would turn to anymore. I do think Hillary would vote for this bill if she was still in the senate. Thank you Hillbuzz for being patriots & would do what’s best for our country. NOW WE HAVE TO STOP THIS HC TAKE OVER OTHERWISE THEY’LL CONTROL OUR LIVES.
December 20, 2009 at 7:55 am
as someone who supported and respected bill clinton.
I have pretty much lost ALL respect for the man at this point b/c of his support for this rationcare shit.
Of course he will always get the best of care, being an ex-president. the rest of us?
SCREWED!!!!!!!!!!!!
December 20, 2009 at 11:39 am
I read an article somewhere that Bill knows this will hurt Barry in the long run, and still be able to get rid of the bill down the road.
December 20, 2009 at 11:23 pm
We can’t change the facts about Bill Clinton. When he took office he was governing to the left unril the republicans took house & senate. After that he was governing as a moderate. Dick Morris even brought this up on either Oreilly or on Hannity. It was within the last week or so when he made that statement. I think the democratkc party has long wanted to govern to the left. I have to include both Clintons in this. I don’t think the word moderate means anything anymore. I lost my respect for every democrat. Hillary should have switched her party I’d & become an Independent. I think the Clintons will go down in flames with the democratic party. I believe the only honest politician is Sarah. We should all donate to Sarahpac, join her facebook & twitter accounts. In January she’s going to be key speaker at a teaparty in TX & key note speaker in Febuary in TN at the first tea party convention. Also, at teamsarah all members are signing a Christmas Card for Sarah & her family. Let’s show her our support & let her know how much we need her & want her to run for president in 2012. We need to take our country back…Sarah’s our Girl! Also Glenn Beck is the only person who is informing us what the fraud in the WH is doing. We should all watch his show. He is warning us how our country is being taken over by these thugs. Glenn just reports the facts & backs everything up with proof. Let’s have faith people & stand up making our voices heard!G-d bless this great country of ours. Let’s save it from being dismantled!
December 19, 2009 at 2:07 pm
But isn’t it a hate crime to criticize or raise your voice to a Democrat?
December 19, 2009 at 2:07 pm
Good point, LU. I am a conservative here in Orlando who really enjoys reading this site and reading the passion in what you guys write. I will do my best to let the idiot we have representing us know he is making a mistake. Bill Nelson has already made his deal. I pray this fails but there was a chance to defeat it twice already and that was just an illusion. Treasonous bastards.
December 19, 2009 at 5:01 pm
I spent too many years voting for that bottom feeder Nelson. I am so angry at him I can’t even see straight. It won’t do any good to yell at Nelson, he has proven to be deaf, dumb and blind to his constituents.
December 19, 2009 at 8:04 pm
Bill Nelson, Ben Nelson, they’re both traitors to this country.
My friends in Nebraska say this man is now DEAD to the Nebraskan public, and there is no chance in hell that he will be re-elected.
Good. Kick the G-damn scum OUT!!!!
December 19, 2009 at 8:16 pm
Tamara:
direct your friends to patriotroom.com
They have a very good piece on the Medicare and Medicare Advantage cuts (about 500 Billion)
AND
the new taxes that will be imposed. (about 500 Billion)
send this to your NE friends. Its disgusting what these fraking asshole democrats have done to the American publican
I swear I am more pissed that these asshole dims than I ever was at Bush and Cheney!
December 19, 2009 at 10:27 pm
I asked Santa for a CW permit. I think it is time.
December 20, 2009 at 3:55 am
I agree ssmith, I am seeing red. I don’t think I have ever been this mad.
December 20, 2009 at 3:15 am
If Alan Grayson is your representative, you’d better think twice – he may ask Eric Holder to jail you for 5 years! What a tool…
December 19, 2009 at 2:11 pm
It is disgusting to me that the Senate and Congress are completely ignoring the American people…even knowing they will be thrown out on their bum the next election…but to them it is more important to vote with their party than stand up for what is right. It is a travesty and it signals the end to our country as we know it. The American people who blindly elected this president and this government to office should be held responsible as well. They let Hollywood and the news media brainwash them into voting this government to power without educating themselves about what would happen. There is NO EXCUSE for this. A bunch of SOCIALISTS have taken over our country and future generations will pay the price. It’s a sad, sad day in our country.
December 19, 2009 at 2:36 pm
My first post here…
the reason the Dems dont care what you think or that you are threatening them with voting them out is simple..
Barry will not permit any more elections…simple as that…he will declare Marshall Law!…after turning the internet off so that we can no longer communicate…:(
conspiracy theorist?…not really…just see the writing on the wall…
God help our kids and grandkids…:(
December 19, 2009 at 3:11 pm
I fear you are right, champ1968.
Communication between us conservatives is something that must be dealt with. So I believe internet monitoring will happen.
Telephone calls between us would be an option, but Benito could certainly use the Bush terrorist phone call monitoring law against us.
And while everyone has a bone to pick with the US Post Office, it’s actually one of the last lines of communication. $12 billion in the hole & counting, it’s on the future chopping block. Privatizing the USPS will have us recalling fondly the days of 44-cent postage, trust me. Think what it costs to use messenger services.
Someone recently told me that old fashioned ham radio operations would be the only option to get around government intrusion.
December 20, 2009 at 3:42 am
Not to further add fuel to the fire, but the Soviets did jam signals to prevent communications. Just a thought, however…
December 19, 2009 at 4:19 pm
The same thing was said about Bush.
I say, god help US!
December 19, 2009 at 6:47 pm
The difference is, it was just said about Bush. Obama and his henchmen will actually do it.
December 20, 2009 at 12:40 pm
What was fantasy when it came to liberal screaming is now actively being done by those same said liberals.
It was just projection back then, it’s reality now.
December 19, 2009 at 5:31 pm
champ1968- you make a compelling case, and I’m hard pressed to refute it.
However, there is another scenario to consider:
there are still a couple hundred billion dollars of (anti) stimulus money sloshing around, admittedly being closely watched by our sideshow geek vice president, but still sloshing around nonetheless.
If you sprinkled 10 million bucks here or there throughout the Senate or Congress- hell, give 15 million to every D) member of both houses – and you still don’t come close to using up even 1 of those billions.
And with 10 or 15 million bucks in a swiss bank account, it’s a fair bet these dems aren’t going to be too concerned about their day job for very much longer.
Just a thought….
December 19, 2009 at 8:07 pm
And a very accurate thought at that, SOG!
These politicians have stashes all over the world, so they’re not concerned with things like “The PEOPLE”.
These prostitutes in congress need to be tarred and feathered like in the Western days, and left to roam the streets like the whores that they are.
December 20, 2009 at 3:46 am
When you think about strategy, that might have been the case all along. The unspent stimulus money was intended to be broughtout in the term following the vote for something very unpopular. If this is case people, do not be swayed. So what if all of a sudden when this federal money comes pooring out in your district for government jobs. You must stay strong and give your congressman and senator so much hell they cannot ignore it. You have to hound them day and night and make sure they know you are unhappy and will threaten serious election consequences!
December 20, 2009 at 3:57 am
Good point Bill, I had never thought of that. I figured they were waiting until right before election 2012. Pay for the ACORN fraud
December 19, 2009 at 7:06 pm
Champ 1968. What you say has gnawed at me since July and I have not been able to shake it. What you posted is the thought I had after reading the first healthcare bill last summer. There is so much power granted to the president and his cabinet that my impression was that this group in charge has no intention of giving up power. As mind boggling as this HC bill is, I don’t think we have seen anything yet. I really believe we need to start preparing for the unthinkable such as the end of free, legal elections as we know it – at least at the presidential level.
But S on G -you have a point. The “slush fund” may solve the congressional elections and the president probably figures he can bribe the new congress when they get to Washington.
We need to get candidates who have served our military such as marines and sergeants because I think they are less ‘bribable’ and have management skills and loyalty to this country. The also have more balls to stand up to this obscenity.
December 19, 2009 at 8:10 pm
Yeah, but then you get PHONY military men like Webb in office, and they are just as easily bribed.
This whole thing shocks me so much because they are OPENLY DOING THIS IN FRONT OF AMERICA, AND NO ONE IS PAYING ATTENTION!
Except us, of course.
December 19, 2009 at 9:08 pm
At this point Webb may be our only hope to stop this thing. I am not holding my breath but I have decided to pray and pray that he votes no.

December 19, 2009 at 2:41 pm
This is my worst fear come true. Literally.
There HAS to be a way to undo/repeal this.
December 19, 2009 at 2:52 pm
We can repeal it once we vote these idiots out but there’s a lot we can’t repeal. It will take a long, long time to reverse the damage and he’s only been president for a year.
It’s worst presidency I have seen in my lifetime.
December 19, 2009 at 6:20 pm
cant repeal it unless you have a conservagive potus and 60 conservative votes in the senate, will never happen.
December 19, 2009 at 6:52 pm
How many votes does it take to override a veto? Oh well, just ignore the Constitution, that’s what they do.
December 19, 2009 at 9:34 pm
POTUS can be vetoed if two thirds of senate vote. Very difficult but not impossible
December 19, 2009 at 6:29 pm
Never thought I’d have a reason to say these words:
Let the revolution begin.
The Dems (socialists/communists)won’t be beaten in the voting booth … ACORN, SEIU and 22 million new Americans will see to it. The reason Barry’s so damn smug is he knows he and wifey aren’t going anywhere … he and she are here to stay. No wonder Okra can walk away from that boring POS show of hers … big plans are no doubt afoot for Ms. Not So Silent and Deadly. Glad I’m old … won’t have to witness too much of it. But oh my poor children and grandbabies.
December 19, 2009 at 8:08 pm
Sad to say I agree.
December 19, 2009 at 9:09 pm
No they are not going anywhere that’s what my friend keeps telling me,this people are bad omen, there is going to be revolution, lots of lives are going to be lost, this is bad, very bad.
December 19, 2009 at 9:44 pm
Maybe we brought this on ourselves and now is the time to Stand Up. How many times have we all looked the other way when the libs passed a bill or made loewd comments about our beliefs, about our heros, about us. How many times have we said, “our, those libs are harmless!
December 19, 2009 at 2:54 pm
Well Sen. Nelson, it wasn’t about Abortion was it? It was reaching a price of $301M which shows you think you’re not a CHEAP whore, but you are. Dear constituents, of all Sens. who were bought, enjoy the $$$ tainted with those who suffer from this, especially the $$$ tainted with BABIES’ BLOOD and their “Silent Screams” that only God their Father hears. HE WILL HEAR!! We have become dispicable!
December 19, 2009 at 3:42 pm
I have come to find it strange how progressives scream about human rights, but deny protection to those that most need protection… babies in the womb. I know that this will upset some people, but it is what I believe, although I have come to this belief from the other side.
Respect for human rights begins at conception.
December 19, 2009 at 5:17 pm
I’m a constituent of Ben Nelson, and trust me, I WILL NOT be enjoying the money. I’ve e-mailed and/or called his office EVERY DAY for the past 2 weeks (every week before that), and it has done absolutely no good. I tried calling today, but voice mail was full, so he got another scathing e-mail. I’m DISGUSTED, and didn’t think there was anything else I could do, but you can bet I’ll round up some friends and pay a visit to his office every day this week.
December 19, 2009 at 8:12 pm
GOOD FOR YOU, NE runner!
I love Nebraska and you are some of the toughest ass-kickers in this country.
Go kick his ass! He is DONE in Nebraska, from what I hear from my buddies there.
December 20, 2009 at 12:59 pm
Start with the today’s protest and know that many of us out here in other states, are standing with you.
December 19, 2009 at 2:55 pm
Welcome to the Tea Party.
December 19, 2009 at 7:57 pm
1776…..I’m in!!
December 19, 2009 at 8:14 pm
Already been to two Tea Party protests, and they are only going to get bigger.
We are at a point in history where we need to stand up and fight, or lose our freedoms.
Stand up, everyone!
December 20, 2009 at 12:37 am
We can organize this “in your face” protest through our local Tea Party organizations. I plan to forward this link on to my local one to see if we can rally the troops. It will probably not be a scream fest, because, after all, we are conservatives. However, a show of force with passion will send a message.
December 20, 2009 at 12:58 pm
Oh excuse me, conservatives can scream but it usually takes something HUGE to make them do it.
I think that we’ve reached that point.
December 19, 2009 at 3:06 pm
I am screaming so loud right now, I don’t know if I’ll have any voice left by Monday…Listen to Mitch McConnell, if you weren’t scared before, you will be….and horrified…
December 19, 2009 at 5:46 pm
Mitch McConnell is one of the only people helping me survive this time period. No kidding.
“S. PALIN….PAGING S. PALIN….MRS. PALIN PLEASE ANSWER THE CALL OF YOUR NATION, THANK YOU…”
December 20, 2009 at 12:44 pm
Oh hell, if you think about what he’s saying, McConnell is UNDERPLAYING the ramifications of this.
The Reps are really pissing me off in this situation. They should act mad as hell and just READ the details. I don’t mean the legal language, but a laundry list of what to expect, in plain language.
You WILL pay into this for four solid years and receive nothing. Not one person will receive any single benefit, while the governmetn grows in order to create the infrastructure to manage it. You will ALL be taxedon your healthcare benefits. Every single working American with benefits get ready to pay through the nose. You will be jailed and fined if you do not comply. Business will be taxed. The obvious reaction in this economy will be further downsizing so that they can survive. Else they will go out of business, and that will happen for some, too….
…They need to stand in front of podiums and SCREAM THE LIST. OVER AND OVER AND OVER.
December 19, 2009 at 3:39 pm
Thank you for your comments concerning Hillary. That is what I wanted to hear from you guys, so it is much appreciated. I have been away from home now for over 2 months, and will not return there until sometime in January.
May I make another suggestion? Since I am out of state and I have no idea where to go as far as field offices in this state, I may just go to the craft store, buy some sign making supplies, make an anti-Obama sign that states something to the effect that “Real Democrats do NOT support Socialism, etc.” and then stand on some busy intersection in this area to display the sign as often as I can. It may encourage others to do the same.
My heart aches for this country right now, more so than ever before. WE are in danger, and people need to take this seriously.
And I will scream my lungs out when I am holding my sign.
December 19, 2009 at 9:54 pm
Thats a damn good idea nomo. I have been sitting on my ass waiting and waiting for someone to say “it’s time”
And it is time… time to be heard and be seen. Going ot the mall area tomorrow with a sign. God bless
December 19, 2009 at 3:54 pm
Who am I gonna scream to, the idiots in my home state(California) Boxer, Feinstein, those crooks are all for this garbage. Nelson has already been bought off, we are all screwed.
December 19, 2009 at 4:05 pm
Yes — scream at Boxer and Feinstein.
Their staff will get rattled just like all staffs. The more rattled these people are, the better. Rattle them all. People MAKE NOISE.
December 19, 2009 at 10:39 pm
I have the same question re my NYC Congressturds–Schumer, Gillibrand, and Weiner. It’s not as if we can threaten to throw them out next time. The majority of their constituents support them. Even Motherchucker Schumer didn’t lose any points from abusing that flight attendant.
Maybe we voters in Calif and NY (and other “permanently represented” states) can adopt pols from another state. Their votes on many issues affect us all.
December 19, 2009 at 10:45 pm
Ma’am Boxer is up for re-election……..work to defeat her.
December 20, 2009 at 12:45 pm
I haven’t gotten drunk in decades but the day that witch leaves office, I’m going to raise a cold one…
December 19, 2009 at 3:54 pm
Many Mahalos to you gentlemen for putting out the call to storm their offices. I have shameless reprinted your whole article because more people need to see it!!!! THIS IS a defining moment in our history and it was planned to fall on this week. THIS will be the last straw!!
December 19, 2009 at 4:04 pm
And this from American Thinker:
The High Price of Ben Nelson’s Low Vote
Marc Sheppard
Democrat Ben “Dover” Nelson, who had previously threatened to join a GOP filibuster of the Senate Health Care Bill, proved today that everything has a price – including a man’s values. The Nebraska Senator just accepted what I’ll generously describe as an enormous “monetary incentive” to do a complete 180 on his long-time position on abortion funding.
Earlier this month, Nelson insisted that he would not support a bill without stronger anti-abortion language:
“I’ve said at the end of the day if it doesn’t have Stupak [strong protection against federally-funded abortions] language on abortion in it I won’t vote to move it off the floor.”
But Majority Leader Harry Reid’s “Manager’s Amendment,” which supposedly swung Nelson’s vote, includes no such language. Rather than explicitly prohibiting use of Federal funds for abortion, as in Stupak, Nelson signed on to the idea of instead allowing states to “opt-out” of abortion coverage in their own public exchanges.
Why the change of heart?
It appears that the current health care bill’s plan to insure about 30 million uninsured Americans includes a provision to move a good portion of them onto the Medicaid rolls. Needless to say, that’s quite the unfunded mandate to force upon the budgets of our already cash-strapped states.
But there’s one state that today was guaranteed immunity from such a budget-annihilating burden — Nebraska. While 49 other states will be forced to scramble and cut and tax and reappropriate in order to meet the new mandates, Nelson’s home state won’t.
That’s because Nelson sold his vote for Reid’s assurance that the feds will pay 100% of any new Nebraska Medicaid costs — forever.
And that leaves non-Nebraskan taxpayers picking up the tab – forever.
This sordid sell-out certainly represents a new low in opprobrious political payoffs.
Scream loudly about this one.

go to youtube.com or click on the link above and go to youtube and watch this film “Fall of the Republic” parts 1-14…it is very informative and I believe very close to what is happening…
December 19, 2009 at 5:44 pm
Good stuff, thanks. Will watch the rest today/tomorrow.
December 19, 2009 at 4:14 pm
Every one that is now unemployed needs to move to Nebraska and apply for Medicaid. Fill the state with people that qualify for benefits and apply immediately!
I am all for going to my reps offices but I feel that a greater impact would be to show up in groups with signs and stand silent…they pretend they can’t hear us…don’t say a word, don’t engage or give them any reason to call the legal authorities…show up in large groups with your signs and maybe candles or flashlights… A large “silent majority”!
December 19, 2009 at 4:27 pm
Honestly, we’d love to be removed by the police for screaming at Senators and Congresscritters. We’ll put that on YouTube. Just imagine if people started screaming and yelling across the country…these Washingtonians are feckless…they will be terrified, as none of them have ever seen anything like real, unadulterated ANGER being directed at them.
America is worth screaming and yelling for at the top of our lungs.
Is the Tea Party movement mobilizing? We need screaming and yelling in cities coast to coast pronto.
December 19, 2009 at 8:18 pm
I haven’t gotten an email from the local tea party groups here, because it’s CHRISTMAS WEEK!
Harry Reid knew he could pull this off while Americans were distracted.
This has all been carefully planned.

Minority Leader Mitch McConnell Reacts to Dem Takeover of Heath Care After Nelson Was Bought Off
December 19, 2009 at 5:18 pm
OMG. This scares the he!! out of me.
December 19, 2009 at 7:00 pm
I know. It is awful.
December 19, 2009 at 5:30 pm
Why is everyone so surprised? Democrats are doing what Democrats do. They raise taxes. They create government programs. They give money to their constituents. This “health” bill does all that.
Why should I waste my time going to Burris’ or Durbin’s office? They don’t ever listen to me. Not when I call, not when I write. Their staff don’t care – and they’re not the ones screwing us. Roland and Dick have drunk the kool-aid, and will vote the way they are told.
Anybody think that the whole drama with Senators Mary and Ben wasn’t contrived, to give voters in LA and NE the impression that their Senators work for them and bring home the bacon?
December 19, 2009 at 7:24 pm
I think it was completely contrived. These assholes were always going to vote for this terrible bill. All this hemming and hawing was just posturing. Or, worse, a way to get bought off. I’m sick.
Thanks, HB. I too am going to go raise some hell – in their offices, to their faces.
December 20, 2009 at 10:46 am
I agree. Did you see how Durbin had a survey on his website where you could vote on whether you wanted a public option or not? Of course he never let anyone see the results as voting went on and then two weeks later he sent a breathless e-mail announcing: 99.9% of my constitutents want a “robust” public option! What a liar and a crook!!!
December 20, 2009 at 11:34 am
Your first paragraph is exactly how I think. Elections have consequences. If healthcare passes, the future will merely be which party is going to handle the huge bureaucracy better? That will be the choice. I don’t see how you turn this back, but hope I am wrong.
December 19, 2009 at 6:15 pm
Hillbuzz, I agree with you 100%.
This is disgusting. We have become a deadbeat bananna republic that borrows money in order to pay off senators to vote for a bill that 60%+ of the public DO NOT WANT.
Then they pass it anyway.
This is no longer the USA. The public’s wishes do not matter to congress.
December 19, 2009 at 6:18 pm
If amnesty passes next year, dems will have permenent power and elections wont matter.

Print a copy of this and bring it with you: http://feedyouradhd.com/you-shall-not-pass-obamacare/
If you take your children, have them ask: “Why does your boss want me to grow up in a decaying country with less opportunity than my parents had?”
Let the anger burn. And don’t put it out.
December 19, 2009 at 6:39 pm
Living in NJ with senators Lautenberg and Menendez means never having to guess how they will vote – always with the dems. At least my dem congressman – Adler – was a no vote. So of course the Kos kooks and Move-On morons have him in their crosshairs – which will make it easier for former Eagles player John Runyon to bring the seat back to the R side. I hope the senate republicans don’t give up and force a reading – even if all that is accomplished is a ruined holiday for our NOT well-intentioned democrats senators!

December 19, 2009 at 7:29 pm
Thanks for the links, PhillyCon. Here’s my favorite part from the Hot Air post:
“Despair is a mortal sin; it saps one’s will to continue fighting. The lesson of the Iraq counterinsurgency (COIN) strategy (and of Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged) is this: You can only be defeated if you accept defeat; you must actively conspire in your own subjugation.
So don’t. Just say “No” to surrender. We lost a battle; we’ll likely lose this campaign. But the war against “socialisme” will continue. The Reds will never surrender, so why should we?”
December 19, 2009 at 7:31 pm
A bit after noon here I was following the first part of today’s Senate debate, then had to log out; only around ten hours later did I have the chance to switch on the computer again, and the world had been turned upside down in the meantime. I’m seeing red and I fell like raining projectiles upon the Senate Democrats right now. Upon all of them without exception, all of their putative factions, all playing their assigned roles in what is being revealed ever more clearly as a criminal conspiracy.
Hillbuzz, I agree with you entirely: anyone who votes for this monstrosity, whether at the various stages of cloture, or at the stages of approval of the bill itself, must be voted out as soon as possible. (What ought to happen to them, should they every choose to visit their home states again, I leave to your imagination.) And this goes regardless of what they have or have not done in the past, as you’ve said.
Already at the time of the first cloture vote I made it very clear in phone calls to the offices of my Senators, Schumer and Gillibrand, that I would be working actively against their re-election in 2010. Starting on Monday I’ll be contacting them again, with the same message, delivered with greater vehemence. And the efforts I’ve been making to fire up my relatives (located in New York, California, Virginia) — admittedly I haven’t done enough over the last month and a half — I’ll try to redouble.
But to leave my own robotic contingent of Senators aside, if the one Senator on their side of the aisle whom I do actually respect, namely Lieberman, does end up voting for this thing, I shall do everything I can to see that he too is shown the door at the next opportunity. That too is something I plan to communicate to his office.
And come Monday I’ll also be calling the offices of Senators Coburn and DeMint again, reminding them that they and their colleagues have to obstruct, obstruct, obstruct, to the full extent of their capacity from this point forwards. I’m not sure what happened to the plan to read the full text of Reid’s manager’s amendment on the floor, I hope they saw it through to the end; but be that as it may, the point I shall make to them is that, if the Senate rules permit, they will have to insist that the full text of all the two thousand plus pages be read as well, and likewise the text that is returned to them by the conference committee. And more than once, if at all possible!
And, as regards the House, on Monday I plan to call Rep. Bachmann’s office again (as I did prior to their vote early in November) and encourage her to employ whatever delaying tactics she is able to there. I do not know whether parliamentary provisions for unanimous consent similar to the Senate’s are in force in the lower chamber, but if they are, I shall encourage her and her allies to make full use of them.
Indeed, I’ve started to think that with the Defense Appropriations bills out of the way, now might be the time for a handful of Representatives and Senators to slow all business of both chambers to a standstill by means of the parliamentary tactics available to them. A real standstill punctuated at every point by unanimous consent objections, such that nothing more, and I do mean nothing, can be accomplished until January 2011. What do you think of this as a recommendation to be made to the handful of Congresspeople with the stiffest spines?
Also, the idea that was floated in the comments a few days ago (sorry, I don’t recall by whom) of initiating recall campaigns in the states that permit this measure of direct democracy is one I’d like to endorse; that’s something I’d be very willing to help with.
I’m sorry for this aggressive disjointed message — but I’m just beside myself with fury at what’s going down.
December 19, 2009 at 7:46 pm
I don’t think that it is realistic to expect that the Senators can actually be recalled,(anytime soon, that is, if at all) but I most definitely think some tea party energy needs to be directed at the state level in those states that allow recall. Vocal, public activity with press releases, spokespeople, etc. An extended campaign to draw the Senator’s attention to the energy being expended against him/her. In some states the process begins in the state legislatures, so I think maybe calls to state legislators Monday morning might be useful, as well as the visits to the Senators office. If the state officials start getting bombarded, too, then they will convey that to the Senators, perhaps more persuasively than we regular folks, sad as that is to say.
December 19, 2009 at 8:07 pm
I hate to say it because I admire the intent but screaming won’t get us anywhere, now.
Someone on another thread said Squat was on the tube this afternoon talking about HCR and saying “Now Americans will get what they deserve.”
The poster said Squat sounded sinister.

500 Billion in Medicare cuts
PLUS
500 Billion in new taxes
PLUS 20 million new people to a system that is working decently for the majority.
There WILL be rationing, and the recession will deepen with new taxes, people will NOT hire new employees and there will be more layoffs.
and I’m not even going get into what it will do to our currency/

I was reading an article where China has said that there will not be enough money to buy more of U.S. debt. We are spending our country into non-existence. We will be an extension of China.
December 19, 2009 at 8:26 pm
I wonder what Hillary really thinks of this chit?
That this will essentially lead to the implosion and destruction of the undemocratic party?
b/c see people have no idea just how shitty this bill is yet, they know instinctly its no good, charging people for not buying HC and then jailing them?!??!
all sorts of cuts to Medicare.
I wonder what Hillary really thinks, I wonder if she thinks like I do that this will not just be a loss of 20 -0 seats, this will be led to a full revolt agn this totalarian maarxism being forced unto the american public
December 19, 2009 at 8:27 pm

December 19, 2009 at 9:16 pm
No, there is still time to stop this disaster, although it means taking time from Christmas preps. Those sh!t-dripping a$$holes figured they’d pull a fast one on us during the run-up to Christmas… we can’t let them.
Make noise, and yes, start conspicuous movements toward recalls.
And what does treason mean in terms of the actions of our elected officials? Do we have a case against any of these thugs? These power-mad donkeys are willing–eager–to destroy us and grab control over us, considering the Constitution as so much toilet paper. We can’t let Benito Obama, Adolph Pelosi, Joseph Reid, or Rahm & Zeke Mengele have their way!
December 19, 2009 at 8:09 pm
I am totally stunned speechless. This cannot be happening. I’m tempted to say, a la Michelle O, for the first time in my life I am NOT proud to be…..But, no, I am still proud to be an American. I am just totally embarrassed that such a big group of morons is representing us. I am so sad. So very sad.

God Bless America!

ALERT. Just saw on Human Events that there’s a GUN GRAB! section in this bill!!!!!They may be going after gun owners. Didn’t think it could get worse, but it did. Please, someone check it out and tell me I mis-read.
December 19, 2009 at 9:18 pm
Anyone here from NE??
If you know restaurants that this Nelson sellout goes to? I would suggest that you call those restaurants and encourage those restaurants to no longer serve this socialist sellout!
I know I would never eat at any restaurant that serves that sellout. Maybe NE people can boycott such restaurants, and let the restaurants know why you are boycotting them.
I was wathcing on History channel, during the revolution, the american restauranters, etc would NOT serve any colonists that were sympathetic to the British.
yep, its now come to that. You are either for the US constitution or NOT. Its as simple as that.
December 20, 2009 at 12:03 am
I’ve been reading a historical novel lately …. not serving is the least they did. They tarred and feathered Brit sympathizers and burned them out, businesses, homes, everything.
December 19, 2009 at 9:21 pm
I don’t know if there is a “Gun Grab” in the bill, but I would bet there is. Here is a link to a video along those lines.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDMeDmV0ufU
If confiscation of guns is not in this bill, it will be in one soon.
December 20, 2009 at 2:41 am
You are probably right, they always try for that, too
December 21, 2009 at 1:36 am
They don’t have the manpower.
Many in law enforcement would not attempt it for practical and ideological reasons, and attrition would make it impossible.
They would all be dead before 25% of the guns out there were confiscated.
Such a law WILL be passed, but it will NOT be effected.
If you have not already exercised youe 2nd Amendment right, it will be too late however. Until you can salvage something informally.
December 21, 2009 at 2:19 am
Living in Oz with some of the most restrictive gun ownership regulations around, I say hold on to your guns.
Do not let the government take that from you.
As much as I love John Howard, I want to smack him for the knee-jerk reaction that led to the disarming of our population.
As they say in the classics, if you outlaw guns, soon only outlaws will have guns.
It’s the case here, and also in Britain.
If you don’t have a gun, go get one before they clamp down on you.

On December 19, 1999 my Dad died.
On December 19, 2009 my Country died.
I will call my Senators’ offices on Monday. But they don’t listen. The frustration and anger I feel is palpable.
I will let Arlen Specter’s minions KNOW that once I lose my job, I can spend plenty of time campaigning for Pat Toomey. Like Nelson, Specter MUST be defeated.
December 19, 2009 at 11:30 pm
According to this, you, I, we, need to start calling NOW. Reid wants a vote by 1am MONDAY!
SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY!! 12 MIDNIGHT (MONDAY 12:01 AM) EST BEGIN CALLING THE CAPITOL HILL SWITCHBOARD: (202)224-3121 – Let them know we are not sleeping!
Stick with the main switchboard.
The individual Senators will probably not have anyone on phones at that hour, but there should be someone on the main switchboard. I think if we focus on that main number there could be some impact. It may take a long time for them to answer and if we are really good, there could be busy signals, but keep trying!
From Heritage: “Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has set the stage for a major vote Monday morning at 1:00 AM – one that would require the support of 60 Senators. That would, if all goes according to Senator Reid’s plan, set up a late-night Christmas Eve vote on final passage. Senator Reid also used a rare procedure to block any further amendments from being offered, debated or voted upon.”
blog.heritage.org/2009/12/19/while-you-sleep-100-am-monday-vote-set-on-obamacare/
December 20, 2009 at 12:04 am
A vote on passage is tentatively set for Christmas Eve. Monday’s wee-hour vote is on whether to end the debate.
December 20, 2009 at 12:05 am
Whoops–sorry, I didn’t see that you already had that info until after my previous comment posted!
December 20, 2009 at 12:08 am
The debate shouldn’t be over until they have read the bill and let us read the bill.
December 20, 2009 at 1:54 am
Noodlenoggin, I’m in. Know that I am with you, calling and trying to get through to these CRIMINALS.
December 20, 2009 at 2:40 am
TXMom,
I’m in, I am pissed and I am in. I am taking monday off to go harass my senators who voted no and my “representative” (yea right) Cuellar who voted yes.
December 20, 2009 at 12:05 pm
Cuellar is scum. Pound him!
December 20, 2009 at 12:11 pm
The tea party in your area is probably working to get Cuellar out, as they are against my rep, Edwards. We’ve publicly pressured Edwards so much with phone calls to radio talk shows, rallies at his offices and letters, he knows we are after him and stated he is considering “retiring”. Good riddance. The tea party has brought forth a couple of good conservatives to run against him and now we have hope.
December 21, 2009 at 11:32 am
Kei, I just found out:
Still NO CANDIDATE to replace Henry Cuellar from District 28 in Texas!!
We need some one to step up!!
December 19, 2009 at 11:32 pm
Oh, and people, you do know that they absolutely do not give a flying f*ck what any of you think, don’t you?
This has been the commie’s wet dream since FDR’s commie infested administration. They are balls to the walls and do not care about sacrificing a few seats because the damage will be done.
December 20, 2009 at 12:01 am
I wonder how they will feel about losing ALL their seats.
December 20, 2009 at 12:07 am
From your mouth to God’s ear.
They know there will be a backlash but do not care. There was one from the New Deal and the Great Society…but in the end we still have those social programs. Broke, mismanaged, corrupted, social slush fund programs.
And many a destroyed family. Look at the inner cities who treat the gubmint as daddy.
December 20, 2009 at 1:58 pm
The scary part is to deal with someone who doesn’t care if they themselves are sacrificed. Perhaps it’s because they’re expecting part of the stimulus money to go there way, somehow. How do you defeat an enemy who doesn’t care that they lose seats? I can’t believe it, but we’re talking about developing a plan to defeat those who are suppose to represent us, see to it that they put forth what is best for us? I am at a loss for words.
December 20, 2009 at 12:27 am
Got this from Hot air, a national strike is being called for Jan 20, 2010.

December 20, 2009 at 1:19 pm
Isn’t 1/20 Martin Luthur King’s Birthday or the national day it’s observed. Is this a political calculation?
December 20, 2009 at 1:50 pm
I think 1/20 is the day of the state of the union address. Not sure MLK had anything to do with date picked
December 20, 2009 at 7:19 pm
MLK has nothing to do with this. Why would you think that he would?
December 20, 2009 at 4:08 am
When you do scream, be sure to let them know that all of this has been done to give utopia coverage, to give him a legislative victor, and the enormonous unpopular nature of this bill. It is all about politics, and politics is not what is important for us as meaning HC.
December 20, 2009 at 8:31 am
Not only the R’s who failed to vote for McCain are responsible for this, but also the stolen election in Minnesota for Al Franken, and the legal misconduct in Alaska that resulted in Ted Stevens not being re-elected. If either of these elections had gone to the Republicans, we wouldn’t have 60 Socialist grifters in the Senate who will push Obamacare thru. I say it’s the fault of the electorate who had stars in their eyes for hope and change, as well as the usual voter fraud.
December 20, 2009 at 10:05 am
Screaming unintelligibly could result in the screamer being depicted as being FOR the legislation. Just sayin.
December 20, 2009 at 10:16 am
Probably will not help, but wrote letters to both my Senators (Maryland – so we all know it is wasted ink). Not only did I inform them this travesty of a bill should be voted DOWN. I also asked how anyone can vote for a bill NO ONE has truly read. And I noted that I believe “Sunshine Laws” also exist at the Federal level – and where is my copy of the bill to read. If I can’t get one – what are YOU reading to vote on?
Probably won’t help, but I am trying. Will go visit offices on Tuesday, my day off.

You think elections can’t be rigged. Think again. There is so much money being doled out to non-profits and acorn types that the money will be flowing for all kinds of shenanigans this next election. Where do you think Obama got all of his contributions?

December 20, 2009 at 11:20 am
You’d better start pinching your pennies now because the taxes will start as soon as possible. Your current healthcare will be taxed from your employers portion to your portion. That will cost you at least a couple hundred more per month if you are single and easily 400 if you have coverage for a family. The government is trying to break us all financially. Then we will not have any money extra to support our candidates. We will be at their mercy and then comes martial law. Don’t think this isn’t a part of a big picture………..
December 20, 2009 at 11:37 am
from comments on Michelle Malkin: I think this is a great idea
On December 20th, 2009 at 9:32 am, carole said:
Call your dem. senator and ask for same deal as Landreiu and Nelson….Why should your state be punished for them not “holding out”…..Raise a stink and use zip code from the state (white lie). Ask the senator why they didn’t get a deal for your state.
Start a dust up….come on……they are voting a 1 today……
the phone messages are full so send faxes to your Demon-a-crap senators ASAP

Hillbuzz fellahs:
I don’t know if anyone has thought of this or not, perhaps it’s already been posted, but shouldn’t some organization have a lawsuit waiting in the wings to file in the Supreme Court over this bill? If the bill does what we think it’s going to do, making all people purchase health insurance, the gub’ment has no right in the Constitution to force anyone to buy a product. The gub’ment has the Constitutional ability to help regulate commerce, which is where I believe they would stake their abilities to pass laws regarding things like car insurance (although you can drive without it, and only get penalized if you get caught…unlike this bill which is very big brother).
The point stands, the gub’ment will be crossing the line of it’s Constitutionally ascribed powers and should be dealt with in extreme prejudice. File a lawsuit in the Supreme Court and keep the bill from taking effect THAT way.
December 20, 2009 at 2:03 pm
Adam – great idea! I’m hoping that the non-profit, law firms are already on the ball with lawsuits ready. To start, there has to be an injunction filed to prevent this monstrosity from growing. You can’t have a government that grows to takeover like this. We can’t allow that to happen. For the time being, this is still America.
December 20, 2009 at 11:42 pm
When this thing passed the House I heard one of the house republicans on the radio saying that they fully intend to pursue the legality’s of this. We have to keep after the republicans to keep doing what they can to overturn this thing and let them know we have their backs if they do so.
December 20, 2009 at 12:35 pm
Today, three pm in Lincoln, Nebraska, protest to be held against Nelson’s craven whoring of the bill. Just saw that on another website that linked to Huckabee’s site.
If I was in Lincoln, I’d be there with bells on. Already wrote the ******* and told him what I thought about it.
Are you all aware that he traded his vote for Nebraska NEVER having to pay for this debacle? NE will not have to pay one thin dime to support Obamacare.
Ethics in Washington.
December 20, 2009 at 2:17 pm
Now THAT is unconstitutional.
They CANNOT do that. You can’t favor one State over others. Not legal.
I don’t think they care what they write in the bill, because it’s already written and it’s hidden in a safe somewhere to be brought out AFTER the vote.
I’ve never seen Congress try to pull this kind of crap ever in my life!
December 20, 2009 at 1:03 pm
Comment on Canadafreepress.com:
“…did a little research on Reid’s vote buying. I could not find all information, but what I found is revealing. Fourteen different states received payola; some states more than one perk. In Vermont, two different senators sold out. There may be more than fourteen states.
The democrats are trying very hard to keep this information from the public. Only four bought votes had a dollar amount attached and that amount totals $660,000,000. There are 14 more deals for which I could not find a dollar amount. No telling what the total will eventually be.
The states I identified are: Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New York, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Vermont, and Wyoming.
Can Reid legally spend our tax payer money to buy votes? This should not be allowed. All states should be treated alike. I don’t see why all the other Democrats don’t hold their votes for ransom too. This is outrageous! If this is legal then Reid or whoever is in charge can just keep dangling carrots until he gets the votes he needs to pass anything! This sounds like the Governor or Illinois selling Obama’s Senate seat. I guess this is the way things are done in Illinois where Obama was trained, but it is not the American way and we must put a stop to it.”

Pastor Muhlenberg stood in the vestry room of his church, putting on his traditional pastoral robes as he had on so many other Sunday mornings. A sense of destiny filled the air around him. This was the last time he would enter his pulpit, the last time he would open the Bible and share the words of life with his congregation.
He knew the sermon he had to preach—yet he knew that some of his people would not understand or accept his position. He himself had wrestled with it for months: How involved should a pastor be in the affairs of government? Didn’t Jesus say, “Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and unto God the things that are God’s”? Would Jesus get involved? Would He run to the battle? It was hard to imagine Jesus carrying a weapon. But it was equally hard to imagine Him not taking a stand.
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven,” Pastor Muhlenberg proclaimed, reading from Ecclesiastes 3. “A time to be born, and a time to die…. A time to weep, and a time to laugh…. A time of war, and a time of peace.” He stopped and looked at the people God had put in his care—hardworking farmers and their wives, merchants, recent immigrants. The tiny town of Woodstock, Virginia, was a long way from the fighting in the colonies of New England. And the Blue Ridge Mountains had kept its citizens from hearing the news of events in their own state in early January 1776.
“It is a time for war!” Pastor Muhlenberg declared. “And not only in New England. War has come to Virginia! The British have marched on our own city of Williamsburg, seizing our supply of gunpowder and munitions. Soldiers are entering private homes, homes just like ours.
“It is time for war! ‘We are only farmers,’ you may say. Patrick Henry has rallied five thousand men—farmers just like you—to fight back and drive the British out. It is time to act! Many of us came to this country to practice our religious freedoms. It is time to fight for those freedoms that we hold so dear. It is time for war!
“Let us pray.” With that, Pastor Muhlenberg bowed his head and offered the traditional closing prayer. Then, breaking with all tradition, while still standing in the pulpit, he began to remove his pastor’s robes and vestments. “I am a clergyman, it is true. But I am also a patriot—and my liberty is as dear to me as to any man. Shall I hide behind my robes, sitting still at home, while others spill their blood to protect my freedom? Heaven forbid it!
“I am called by my country to its defense. The cause is just and noble. I am convinced it is my duty to obey that call, a duty I owe to my God and to my country.”
With that, he threw off the final layer of his robes—and now stood before his stunned congregation in the full uniform of an officer of the Continental militia. He marched to the back of the church, declaring to all, “If you do not choose to be involved, if you do not fight to protect your liberties, there will soon be no liberties to protect!”
Just outside the church army drummers waited. At Pastor Muhlenberg’s command, they began to beat out the call for recruits. God’s conviction fell on the men of the congregation. One by one they rose from their pews and took their stand with the drummers. Some three hundred men from the church joined their pastor that day to fight for liberty.

Pastor Muhlenberg and his men became the Eighth Virginia Regiment, who fought valiantly in many of the battles of the Revolutionary War. During the war, Muhlenberg was promoted to major-general. After the war he was a hero second only to General George Washington among the Germans of his native state of Pennsylvania. In 1785 he became vice-president of Pennsylvania (Benjamin Franklin was president). He worked hard to influence others to adopt the Federal Constitution in 1787 and served in the First U.S. Congress in 1789–91.
Pastor Peter Muhlenberg had a brother, Pastor Frederick Muhlenberg. At first, Frederick criticized Peter for getting involved in the war, saying that a minister of the Gospel should not be involved in politics. But when the British arrived in New York City in 1777, they drove Frederick from his own church and then desecrated the building. Frederick rethought his position and joined in the fight for liberty. In 1789, he became America’s very first Speaker of the House of Representatives. In fact, his signature is one of only two on the Bill of Rights.

Here’s what I’ve been thinking we should do: go “Alinsky” on these bums. Mr. A only THREATENED companies with action, but they knew that he might just be able to back it all up.
If enough of us were willing to all show up on a pre-arranged day at our respective federal courthouses, asking to be taken into custody because we aren’t willing to have ANY of our tax dollars used for this monstrosity, and we aren’t going to buy insurance or pay a fine – which would put us in violation of the law – we would essentially shut down the justice system of this country.
Tell them that as prisoners, we expect to get 3 hot meals a day, and if they aren’t up to snuff, we will be filing a lawsuit.
Tell them that as prisoners, we expect to get prompt medical attention – and we will make full utilization of this free service as often as we feel it is necessary. If we don’t get the treatment that we have become accustomed to on the outside, we will file a lawsuit.
Tell them that as prisoners, we expect to be treated with respect, and we will require the finest sheets and mattresses that taxpayers’ money can buy – otherwise, we will be filing a lawsuit.
Tell them that as prisoners, we expect to be allowed unlimited access to the prison library system and free legal services. I guarantee EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US is literate enough to make some serious noise, tying up the legal system for years with nuisance motions and such, and since we won’t have those pesky day jobs, we will be able to spend more time than ever making ourselves heard.
Remind these traitors that if this comes to pass, ALL of the people who currently are paying the taxes which are being counted on to pay for this travesty will no longer be gainfully employed, so no more money to pay for this bill.
Remind them that these people will be felons afterward, and no employer will be willing to hire them, which will put them on the government’s dole for the rest of their lives – good luck finding funding for that….
There are ways to put the fear of God in these people – they need to know that we aren’t going to take this lying down. It’s time to use their own tactics against them for a change. They were elected to represent their constituents’ wishes, not their own.
In the immortal words of Captain Taggart from Galaxyquest, “Never give up; never surrender!”

RedState.com has a great article on what to do to kill the bill…. calling the left and right to work together for everyone’s benefit. I hope you get a chance to go read it, it is very much worthwhile and has a practical and realistic plan to stop ObamaCare! Check it out!

Natalie,
I believe the site you’re referring to is the following: http://www.redstate.com/dan_perrin/2009/12/20/the-extraordinary-measures-needed-to-kill-the-bill/
You know? Based on what I’ve understood the liberal opposition in the House, this might work! This could be a way to kill it from the conservatives and liberals of the House, and we know that both groups have inflicted a certain amount of damaging criticisms of the Senate POS bill. I hope that there is some teeth in this.

I’m with y’all hb boyz! I am so mad at Mary Landrieu, that I can’t see straight! I am sending her a pink slip in the mail. I am also researching to see if she can be recalled under Louisiana law. I have called and written for weeks, all to no avail. The only thing these folks understand is being put out of office. She is going to be in for a surprise come election time! This is the first time that I have ever been politically active to this extent. I am willing to do whatever it takes to put her on the street next election cycle.

By the time that I read the posting, it was Sun. eve, so I didn’t have much time to contact anyone. I called the Capitol Hill’s main switchboard & was put thru to Sen. Vitter’s voicemail. It was full, & I was disconnected. I then called the main switchboard right back & tried to talk the gal into putting me thru to a live someone, but she wouldn’t do it. I will go to my Repr.’s office tomorrow & ‘bug’ them. I do not drive to where Sen. Vitter’s local office is, but I will try to call it. I kind of think that he is voting against the bill as is.

Go to http://www.honorinoffice.com, It deals with an initiative to make it a legal requirement-a “condition of employment” to stay in office. There is too much to lose by letting things go on the way they have been.
