h/t our friend Wendy in Hawaii for emailing us this article
Long live the queen! And no, Dr. Utopia, you egomaniac, we are not talking about you (though, here in Boystown, we certainly understand why your ears prick up when queens are addressed).
This is an article out of San Diego noting a few things we like to talk about, namely that Hera on Mount Olympus seems to take particular delight in punishing all the terrible people who backstabbed the Clintons in 2008. John Edwards, Ted and Caroline Kennedy, Bill Richardson, Chris Dodd, Greg Craig, Tim Russert, Kathleen Sebelius, the list goes on and on. All have had falls from grace, terrible illnesses, or self-inflicted embarrassments on the national scene. Not saying the Clintons had anything to do with this. Not saying we are happy any of these bad things happened to people we find repugnant. Just noting it all happened.
AS IF SENT FROM ABOVE.
There are some of you who insist on concern trolling around here, saying things like, “Oh, I wish Hillary Clinton had remained in the Senate!”. Why, so she would have to vote on the garbage legislation the Senate is pushing? No thanks. We much prefer her at the State Department, with the whole eigth floor of Foggy Bottom and the best view in Washington in her office, from which she can do whatever she wants, go anywhere in the world she chooses to look presidential, and forever remove any doubt about her foreign policy or executive experience. She’s running the most high profile Cabinet department, neogiating with foreign leaders, and serving as the only grown-up in Dr. Utopia’s Unicorn Infested World of Make-Believe.
The article above believes the Clintons are plotting against Dr. Utopia, and that our champ will resign from state after the 2010 election to mount another campaign for president.
We believe Sarah Palin’s 2012 presidential run HELPS Hillary Clinton, because it will be further pressure for the DNC to dump Dr. Utopia and not allow him to seek a second term.
If Dr. Utopia’s approval rating is below 45% by February of 2011, we bet Clinton resigns and awakens her army to go another round.
We get asked a lot what we would do if Sarah Palin runs for president. We believe Sarah Palin is indeed running for president. We love Sarah Palin. We have told you already that we are willing and eager to work for her, would quit our jobs, and honest to goodness live out of suitcases for another two years and go on the road for Palin through the primaries and general election. GLADLY we would do this.
What would we do if Hillary Clinton reactivated her army, after resigning as Secretary of State, and launced another presidential bid? We would, of course, work for her instead.
BUT, we make this promise here and now and trust you will hold us to it: should Hillary Clinton go up against Sarah Palin, we will not say one negative word about Sarah Palin EVER, and will promote our candidate’s positives and work 24/7 for her, telling America why Hillary Clinton should be our first female president. We will NEVER attack Palin. We will never malign her in any way. We will work our hearts out to make it an election about issues, and about who is best for the country. We believe in a Hillary-Sarah race, that person is Hillary Clinton. We also believe in a Sarah-Anyone Else race, that person is Sarah. So, you will respect us if Sarah Palin remains our second choice. We pledged long ago to people who’ve passed on that we would do anything we could for Hillary Clinton…and that’s a promise we keep to them, and also a promise we stand by because we believe in HRC immensely.
Now, we also get asked what we would do if Hillary Clinton was made the 2012 VP candidate instead of Biden…with Biden claiming he was too sick to run, or wanted to spend more time eating ice cream or something. Honestly, we’d be torn on this one, because we don’t believe Dr. Utopia is a good president, to put it mildly. We do not want him to have a second term. Could we work for Clinton if it meant giving Dr. Utopia for more years? Honestly, we don’t know. Could we vote for Dr. Utopia if he had Clinton’s name under his as VP? As much as we love voting for Hillary Clinton, we don’t know if we could “hold our nose” and cast that vote for Dr. Utopia too.
We’re afraid our love of country would trump our love of Hillary Clinton in this instance. It would indeed be a Sophie’s Choice, and we’d agonize over that for years, probably. We might even skip voting over that, and might skip working on ANY campaigns that year. Come to think of it, that’s probably what would happen. We would just withdraw totally. We hope this site is still around in 2012, and so we would be covering whatever Clinton was doing, but we don’t think we’d be political activists and overtly involved in the election. Things can and do change, but that’s our gut response today, in the last days of 2009.
Now, the last scenario is the most unlikely, and most interesting. What if Joe Biden steps down BEFORE the 2012 election, and Hillary Clinton is made Vice President to replace him? Personally, we think this is the only way Clinton would agree to run under Utopia in 2012…if Biden leaves early and she gets to be VP, so no matter what happens in the election, she becomes the first female VP. This would be a smart move on the part of the DNC and White House, because it would blunt Palin’s thunder. Some voters might feel it’s less compelling to NEED to install a female president if we already have a female VP in the Naval Observatory. What would we do in this situation, where Clinton becomes the VP before Biden’s term is up…and then runs with Utopia in 2012?
We actually think this would make us LESS likely to even vote, let alone work for the campaign. We’d figure she’d already have that hunk of history, so what would running for the VP slot in 2012 serve but to give Dr. Utopia the second term he couldn’t win without her.
It’s imperative to us that Dr. Utopia does not win a second term. He needs to be denounced by voters like Carter before him for the Clintons and their supporters to be avenged. One term presidents are defined as failures, and exiled to years of shame for the party’s losses. In a way, it’s worse than being a Dukakis, Gore, or Kerry. CARTER is one of the worst insults a Democrat can be called.
In general though, we’ll go where Hillary Clinton leads because she’s our champ. We love the Clintons, and will always be loyal to them. We do not, however, any more or ever again, love Democrats or the DNC. If the Clintons aren’t in a race, we’re free agents to pick the best candidate available. We do not believe Dr. Utopia is the best choice for the job he’s in right now, and doubt we’ll think otherwise in 2012.
Unless, of course, the unimaginable happens and Dr. Utopia suddenly goes Bulworth, stands up to and destroys the Race Industry, drives the Liberals from Washington like snakes from Ireland, and completely changes who he is, abandons the global apology tour, and starts being the American president this country deserves. Who knows, maybe the ghosts of Lincoln, Washington, and Roosevelt (take your pick which one) will visit him this Christmas and make him change his radical ways. That’s the ONLY way we’d ever vote for this man…regardless of who is VP is.
To recap:
(1) If it’s Hillary for president versus anyone: we choose Hillary
(2) If it’s Sarah for president versus anyone but Hillary: we choose Sarah
(3) If it’s Dr. Utopia for president versus anyone: we choose anyone else
(4) If it’s Dr. Utopia for president with Hillary as VP: we still don’t think we could vote for him absent a complete 180 change of heart and action in this man
December 8, 2009 at 10:16 pm
Don’t worry. Hillary will never be asked to be VP. Dr. Utopia would never give a woman such an important position, plus he is deathly afraid of Bill Clinton and would constantly worry about some imagined Clinton fan taking a shot at him.
If it’s Hillary vs. Palin, I will choose Palin because she is more closely aligned with my thinking. But one thing is for sure, I wouldn’t think that Hillary (if she won) would actively try to destroy the country.
Palin does have one advantage, though. I think Todd is a MUCH better First Gentleman candidate than Bill. LOL!
December 8, 2009 at 10:35 pm
I don’t think Hillary would tarnish her image by agreeing to become VP for Utopia. Right now, she has taken the high road by appearing to help her country without sucking up to the mess that is the Obama White House.
I also don’t think she would mount a primary challenge. She (unfairly) was dragged through the mud by the Obama machine. Right now, history looks kindly upon her. If she did it a second time, things might be different. She would be attacked by the party/media machine from the word go, even more so than last time.
Obama vs. Hugo Chavez. I think I’d vote for Chavez.

“Obama vs. Hugo Chavez. I think I’d vote for Chavez”
LOL, stop! The decisions we have to make are tortuous enough.
December 9, 2009 at 1:51 pm
LOL
What if it were between Obama and Baby Doc?
LOL
December 8, 2009 at 11:10 pm
I think Hillary will have to make a direct attack (ie., a challenge IF the Democrat heirarchy**Queen Botox Pelosi**permits…and I don’t think that will happen). So if Hill goes ‘rogue’ herself will it be a repeat? I fear so…that coupled with the 96 percent of the 12 percent WHO WILL NEVER, EVER ‘BREAK’ AWAY FROM THEIR BELOVED BARRY…makes the Dem ‘base’ that HRC would need almost non existant.
Obama would have to agree (illness?) NOT to run. I think if he is Impeached (Santa…do you read HillBuzz???) that ‘damages’ the package in power in (Hillary included).
Now…on the other side…Palin has NOT closed the door on a third party run. As we live in the most bizarre of all times, could the two desparately maligned, historic female candidates (HRC/Palin or Palin/HRC with the brave (they are really are racist!!!) Geraldine Ferraro in an advisory position… band together IN A THIRD PARTY RUN? Just a thought…
December 8, 2009 at 11:27 pm
I would be torn to pieces if Hillary ran against Sarah. It would be spectacular, a dream come true, but it would also be gut wrenching because as much as I adore Hillary, as qualified as she is, I just might be tempted to vote for Palin. I’m really fed up with Dems, I think the party needs a few years out of power to get their house back in order.
Now if Palin and Hillary ran on the same ticket together, I would completely fall apart. Seriously, I’d be so excited, I’d be completely useless. I’d never be able to get anything done. It would be like a party 24/7. Nothing would be more fabulous then having Palin and Hillary thumb their noses at the two parties and the good old boy system.
If Hillary ran with Obama as VP, I’d be depressed, but I’m still not voting for the fool, no matter how many good women step forward and try to prop him up. I’d feel bad about not supporting her, but I just couldn’t do it.
I’m still leaning towards not believing Hillary is going to run at all. If Obama is so bad that Dems need a new candidate for 2012, her momentum is going to be damaged simply because she’s a Dem. I don’t think she’d put herself through that.
December 8, 2009 at 11:33 pm
BO would NEVER ask Hillary to be VP – Biden is “insurance”; HRC would be an “invitation”. I’m just sayin….
December 8, 2009 at 11:36 pm
HillBuzz, I love your honesty!
as for me, I was a lifelong loyal democrat, UNTIL LAST YEAR. I have no loyalty to that undemocratic party anymore. My country comes first, always.
I voted, worked overtime to contribute $$ to Hillary, campaigned for Hillary, and I believe to this day, she won the primaries and that was stolen from her, heck on may ’08, the UN-DNC explicitly stole votes from Hillary and gave it to the marxist.
if its Hillary vs Sarah, I will not support Hillary in 2012 if she runs. I will support Sarah if she runs in 2012. I will also not tolerate any sexist crap thrown agn her or sarah for that matter.
But, I have realised I am more conservative that I thought, I am a social moderate, but conservative when it comes to every other issue. I will wholeheartedly support and campaign for Sarah. But will not allow or tolerate anyone ard me to use Hillary’s name to do sexist attacks against Sarah, or the other way ard.
Attack on issues ONLY!
But I will not support Hillary in 2012, I cannot, as much as I supported her so much in 2008 and as much as I respect her. I have realised I agree with Sarah on many fiscal, national security, indiv rights issues.
If its Hillary versus any other repub/etc (not Sarah), then its Hillary all the way.
If its Hillary vs Sarah, then its Sarah all the way.
If its neither Hillary nor Sarah, then anyone who is opposeing that marxist in the WH gets my vote, doesn’t matter who, as long as they oppose his marxist, anti-America policies!
December 8, 2009 at 11:50 pm
and in case there are any lose Obot trolls lurking.
I am one of those new independents, put Hillary as the VP, NOPE, no way I am voting for that Marxist, even if you put Hillary as VP (which in my opinion is an insult to Hillary!)
December 8, 2009 at 11:36 pm
I met Sarah Palin yesterday, and I have to say, Hillbuzz, she is “IT”.
I don’t know what you need to do to meet this woman, but you must. She is the real deal.
I now know how you feel about Hillary. But meet Sarah, and you will know that this is a woman of substance(although I already KNEW that), and a woman of grace and warmth.
Dr. Utopia is done. He will be replaced by a woman this time, and it will be either Hillary or Sarah.
December 8, 2009 at 11:42 pm
Tamara,
We’ve met Palin twice now, but have yet to have an actual conversation with her. One time, we met her in St. Louis, and the other time it was an event in Indianapolis. If we ever have a chance to talk to her, we will tell her we want to work for her campaign.
December 8, 2009 at 11:56 pm
amazing how much we are on the same wavelength…well said!

“drives the Liberals from Washington like snakes from Ireland”
Haw! So glad I stopped by for one more visit and a good giggle before dragging my tired carcass off to bed. (Am fine with dreaming about snakes, too, if that triggers it.)
But here’s the inspiration for some sweet dreaming: Imagine if Hillary and Sarah are the candidates in 2012.
Imagine liking and respecting both candidates pretty much equally.
Imagine not getting agitated over the contest. Imagine knowing that whichever one wins will take good care of us–of all of us. Imagine the cabinet post that the winner is likely to offer to the second-place finisher.
Imagine watching civilized debates between women who are intelligent and informed and stronger than their handlers so will not be turned into something phony or obnoxious for their public appearances.
Imagine being only slightly disappointed if your preferred candidate loses.
I’ve adored Hillary for so long that she would be my candidate. But when I think of Sarah as president, I think of her slicing and dicing the federal government down to a more manageable and accountable and comprehensible size, and I realize that I wouldn’t mind at all if she won.
The deciding factor for me: Sarah is considerably younger than Hillary so can afford to wait her turn. We need to get Hillary’s first term going ASAP.
Thanks for getting us thinking about a saner and happier future with our two favorite gals.
And congrats on your almost-six-millionth hit (wow!).
December 9, 2009 at 7:32 am
I have to agree with a lot of the comments. I supported Hillary last year. I’m an Independent but my views are probably more aligned with Hillary’s than Sarah. But, at least, at this moment, my vote goes to Sarah. The dem party has become something irrational and ugly and too many in the party are going along for the ride.
The repub party has its problems, for sure, but the birth of the tea parties and a “rogue” like Sarah shed a more positive light on what is possible.
It seems to me the dems need their own form of tea party rebellion.
In any case, I’d sleep better knowing either lady would be answering the phone at 3 am!
December 9, 2009 at 7:47 am
I’m glad Hillary’s debt is paid off, but not like this. THIS is part of the problem in DC. From The Hill:
Nearly $6 million in stimulus money was paid to two firms run by Mark Penn, who was Hillary Rodham Clinton’s pollster in the 2008 presidential election. Federal records show that $5.97 million from the $787 billion stimulus helped preserve three jobs at Burson-Marsteller, the global public-relations and communications firm headed by Penn.

There’s the Chelsea Factor. Remember, she’s getting married. The biological clock is starting to tick. And, she’s their only daughter. If she’s President, she’s not going to have much time to spend with the grandchildren.
It may be that she’ll decide to take a lower profile so as to be around during the grandchild(ren)’s formative years.
December 9, 2009 at 8:39 am
I don’t think that will come in to play. Besides, Sarah’s a grandma too.
December 9, 2009 at 7:46 pm
Yes, but Sarah has younger children, so she hasn’t really had an “empty nest”. Plus, she has 5 kids.
I was thinking the same thing about Chelsea and grandkids. I think Hillary will LOVE being a grandma, whenever that may happen. That could very well affect her decision to run again.
I would be willing to bet, though, that Sarah would love to have Hillary on her cabinet, if she decides not to run. I think those 2 ladies would get along like gang-busters!
December 9, 2009 at 8:55 am
I am NOT a Republican, but usually vote that way (if reluctantly). Hillary would have been my first vote for a Democrat for president.
My beloved Park Slope sister (a Park Slope liberal, and a beautiful person), who switched to Doctor U., was thrilled to hear that Hillary would have been my choice, but alas it was not to be.
If it is Hillary and Sarah, I will probably go Sarah. I totally respect your Hillbuzz choice, and admire your loyalty. And I love the fact that Sarah is praising Hillary and NOT denigrating her.
But Sarah has several policy positions (such as drill, drill, drill) that make sense to me, and which take on special urgency given the destructive force presently in the WH.
In the meanwhile, TY Hillbuzz for forging this amazing group of folks who are independent, tolerant, thoughtful, respectful, and who love this country truly.
December 9, 2009 at 9:53 am
I don’t think Hillary is going to run in 2012, just a gut feeling. I am a relatively new reader here, found you guys when you did your apology to Bush. Love your site and read it a couple times a day. But I have to be honest, I do not understand your infatuation with Hillary.
December 9, 2009 at 12:24 pm
Suggest you read at least the first half of Hillary’s autobiography. That’s what made me a permanent fan of a woman I had had mixed feelings about. (Of course, the second half is well worth reading, too. But the first half tells you what she is like, not just what she did.)
December 9, 2009 at 2:29 pm
I will do that.
December 9, 2009 at 12:39 pm
Thank you guyz for all your posts of late, which have kept us rolling in the aisles and bewitched with your insights to the political core from A-Z. And thanks for the video and background about Whitney Houston. We needed that! Merry Christmas!
December 9, 2009 at 2:16 pm
Interesting comments on that article there.
“There’s a lot of concern among a lot of lawyers in this town, especially those who were supporting Obama, that somebody this bright, this respected, this good, and with this integrity, was treated in such a way.”
“Yes, we knew, or should have, during the campaign that the supposed idealist Obama had a bit of the Chicago cut-throat in him, but there was little sign that he could be as brutal and heedless of loyalty as he was in the Craig affair. An unexpected climate of fear emanates from the Obama White House….
The incident underscored worries that several had held about the Obama White House for some time: that it was too tightly controlled and narrowly focused by the Chicago crowd….The current crowd displays a certain impulsiveness and vindictiveness that do it no good – as in the silly war-let on Fox News that it is now trying to back out of…..
December 9, 2009 at 2:21 pm
Hillbuzz,
You have voiced my position exactly. Anytime Hillary is POTUS nominee, she gets my vote. If not, then Sarah(if she is the nominee). If HRC gets VP nod, uhmmmm, not so positive. Only if I believed that ToTus in chief would definitely be stepping down. I will take HRC as President any way I can get her.
December 9, 2009 at 7:02 pm
One of my favorite fantasies involves Palin getting the 2012 nomination, calling Hillary Clinton and asking her to join the ticket for vice president. Party Unity My A***.
December 10, 2009 at 10:09 pm
One note:
If Joe Biden leaves as vice president before his term is finished, no one gets to “choose” who replaces him.
The Speaker of the House is next in line for that position.
That is how Ford wound up POTUS, after Agnew and and then Nixon resigned.
December 10, 2009 at 10:22 pm
Robert –
You are wrong. The Speaker does not auto replace the VP. The president nominates a replacement and the Senate confirms that person. Ford was not Speaker of the House. He was a Congressman and Republican leader in the House, but not Speaker.
