Here’s a question some people asked us after we noted the November 17th Air Tran Flight 297 incident, where 11 Muslims in traditional martyr dress disrupted a flight during takeoff, terrifying the passengers on board with all the behavior of a hijacking.
Would you get off a flight, or refuse to board a flight, if Muslims were on board doing this?
We can answer this from experience, because two of us have actually done this.
Once we were waiting in the boarding area and five Muslim men were there, dressed in the white pajama outfits, talking in Arabic and acting “strange”. It’s so hard to articulate what strange is, but it didn’t fit the behavior of everyone around them. Something wasn’t right about those guys, so we went up to the ticket counter and asked the gate agent to bump us to the next flight to Chicago (from LaGuardia). We told her why, she looked over the men, and didn’t give us a hard time at all.
Another time, it was an outgoing Chicago flight from O’Hare to Atlanta, and something similar happened. As the plane was boarding, there were about a half dozen really creepy looking Muslim guys that just appeared out of nowhere to board the plane. We didn’t see them in the boarding area, so it was like they had been hiding in the bathroom until the last possible moment to get on. Once again, they weren’t shouting Allah Akbar! or anything, but something didn’t seem right about those guys, and at that moment our stomach turned and twisted and as we were in line to board the plane we suddenly had to go to the bathroom — BAD — so we took that as a sign and went in there and missed the flight. After we waited long enough for the plane to depart, we went to the ticket counter, told the agent what happened, and got on the next flight. No penalties or an¥thing.
We think it’s important to ALWAYS trust your instincts.
It reminds us of the actor James Woods on 9/11. He went on the Tonight Show and Larry King and talked about how his father lives in Boston and is sick, so Woods has been flying back and forth between LA and home for a while. He actually flew the same flights as the Muslims who planned 9/11. Woods said he saw those guys on several flights, making test runs. They acted suspiciously, and he told the flight crews and the airlines about them. He told the authorities. But, nobody did anything — we bet because the PC police have tied so many hands in terms of “profiling” Muslims. Everyone was so afraid of lawsuits that the Muslims got away with 9/11 when they could have been stopped.
Woods — if we remember this correctly – eventually switched flights or airlines to avoid those guys.
We would have done the same, and have done the same in similiar situations.
What about you?
December 4, 2009 at 9:06 am
I would absolutely miss a flight if I thought that other passengers were acting suspiciously. I’m sure I’m not the only person who “plans” what they would do if something happened during a flight.
The one lesson that seems to have stuck from 9/11 is that passengers need to react to the situation and not just sit calmly in their seats, waiting for the FAA to fix the problem.
December 4, 2009 at 9:36 am
Before I read the article you wrote about nov. 17th’s incident, I probably would not have even noticed. But, now? I am very wary of being complacent any more.
December 4, 2009 at 4:42 pm
Nor am I. I am done with PC and I don’t want to sit next to a shrouded muslim anymore than I want to sit next to a vomit covered street drunk (which I have done on the subway…it is no fun). I do not trust anyone who believes as they believe, who hates this country and it’s people, who wants to change the rest of the world and who so loves hatred and violent deaths. Maybe that means I’m becoming a hater, too, but so be it. It comes not from some religious freakism, but from having heard enough, seen enough and experienced enough from these desert rats to have reached a conclusion which may not be PC, but which may keep me alive!
I favor less tolerance, not more and liberals be damned.
December 4, 2009 at 9:37 am
Absolutely!
December 4, 2009 at 9:56 am
LOL, well that’s easy, I simply refuse to fly. I have had absolutely no urge to get on an airplane for a few years. It’s all about road trips now.
I don’t like scary people on airplanes, but it’s more about having made a decision to slow down and enjoy the scenery, the travel, to really get to know the countryside. We used to fly quite a bit, hurry to get there, hurry to get back. The rush and the stress, trying to park, security and baggage checks, I don’t miss any of it.
December 4, 2009 at 2:02 pm
Well said!
December 4, 2009 at 3:51 pm
I agree Yttik,
100%
December 4, 2009 at 5:13 pm
I have only flown 3 times in my whole life (all before I had children). Any time we take a trip we always drive! People seem to have gotten away from the Great American Road Trip just so they dont have to spend alot of time in the car with their family *gasp*! Lol I love road trips & I hope I am teaching my children the same :)
December 4, 2009 at 5:20 pm
I prefer your trains :). Much safer than flying even if it is so much slower. It is a good reason to have a VFT
December 4, 2009 at 9:59 am
You have to wonder how often incidents like this have happened and not been reported. Not even Drudge or Atlas Shrugs have mentioned this one. And yes, I certainly would get the h**l off the plane if I could!!
December 4, 2009 at 10:00 am
Nope. I would take my flight. Seems like they may be playing mind games trying to disrupt our society by intimidation.
Besides, maybe my middle aged, tough as jello, sorry ass self could make a difference ITSHTF.
December 4, 2009 at 10:03 am
The key to this question is “acting suspicious”. The answer would be not only yes, but hell yeah! I would also say the same thing about a group of guys in soccer uniforms, acting drunk (or any of a number of other scenarios).
A plane is a box with door locks that goes up into the sky, thousands of miles. There is no escape once it takes off. I’m absolutely okay with avoiding anything that could put me and my family in a potentially dangerous situation.
December 4, 2009 at 10:10 am
The simple answer?
Yes.
December 4, 2009 at 10:10 am
Yes, I would get off. I would have no problem with it either. This PC crap is getting our country into trouble. Let me say this..I know there are wonderful Muslims out there, but these guys were up to no good and wanted to put fear into everyone. I just don’t understand this type of religion..
December 4, 2009 at 10:18 am
I actually flew on 10/07/01, by myself. The significance of this date is the day the war began in Afghanistan. I was sitting in the boarding area, by myself, minding my own business, trying to pass the time because these were the days they said get to the airport 3 hours early because of all the security that they were enforcing. I saw a man in traditional Muslim garb waiting in the same area. I quickly remembered radio dj’s asking what would you do if you saw someone in a turban getting on your plane. I studied this man’s manners from afar. He was normal, aside from being nervous from stares.
He boarded my plane. While uneasy, I gave him the benefit of the doubt because he was alone, he was normal, and looked more scared of people being afraid of him than acting strangely. I got on the plane and there were no issues. Later that night, the local news from my home state had interviewed him after he got off the plane. My convictions were correct — he was just a regular normal man.
I don’t blame you for the actions you took in getting out of those flights. I believe you acted rationally, as I believe I did as well.
December 4, 2009 at 10:22 am
Yes. My safety and my family’s are more important than PC concerns. Being Muslim or Arabic, in itself, is not the issue… it’s the strange behavior. If that is discriminatory, well, my apologies, but after 9/11 safety should be the top priority.
December 4, 2009 at 10:23 am
I am with yttik’s post. Yes, I would get off! I had to fly for business for 12 years. Since 9/11 I hated the ordeal. Now that I am not working I hate it for personal travel too. TSA once turned us away for not wanted to put cameras x-ray belt (we asked for hand check-which they use to do)and it was Thanksgiving day and airport was empty. Almost got arrested for nothing. FAA and TSA love to harrass WM and WF but, clear threats??? No way!
December 4, 2009 at 10:27 am
In a word…. yes.
December 4, 2009 at 10:31 am
The frightening scenario is what to do when these clowns wise up
and start wearing business suits, polos and khakis or Nike warmups on flights, and don’t acknowledge their cohorts until after the plane is airborne. By that time you’re screwed.
Perhaps these folks have become Westernized to the point that it’s easier – and certainly more lucrative – to create situations they know will arouse suspicion and fear, then claim discrimination/denial of civil rights, sue for huge damages and funnel the money to AQ via mosque or WH-approved “charity.” Why, anytime a group pulls this crap we don’t deport them on the spot is beyond me. No court time, no lawyers, no damages, no apologies. You’re outa here!
December 4, 2009 at 12:42 pm
Um, Granny, the 9-11 guys dressed in suits and khakis.
It’s already been done. And I predict, it will be attempted again.
December 4, 2009 at 5:24 pm
they have already pulled that trick. Ever heard of the Minnesota six?
They pulled this exact type of stunt and they were kicked off the aircraft and then they successfully sued the airline.
That ass of a judge who agreed with them should be taken off the bench.
December 4, 2009 at 10:36 am
Usually, I am a go-along-to-get-along person. I don’t like to make waves for the sake of making waves. However, if principles call for action, then I try to act.
(For example, once I witnessed my boss sexually harrass a co-worker on more than one occasion. I was scared I’d get fired. But I did the right thing and talked to HR. I couldn’t sleep at night because I knew I couldn’t let this cougar get her prey, even if it cost me my job. She got the boot!)
If the situation warranted, I’d talk to airline personnel and/or security before getting on the plane. If I were already on the plane and could do something about it, I’d talk to the flight attendants. If I were already on the plane and up in the air–didn’t realize the guy had gotten on the plane until it was too late–I’d keep my eyes open and stay alert.
December 4, 2009 at 10:51 am
Right after 9/11 many people were afraid to fly. Our family flies to Portland, Or from Chicago for Thanksgiving every year and we thought about it, and unlike others who chose not to travel, my mother and I decided to fly to Portland in November, 2001. The airport was quiet as a mouse. The security was bone tight and everyone was really cautious. No one ‘extra’ was allowed through security (you could not go with family or friends to the gate if you were not on the plane.) I became very surprised that in our United waiting area was an elderly woman in a wheelchair dressed in muslim garb from head to foot and a younger man who was guiding her wheel chair, also seemed muslim (based on dress and looks). I was also very surprised to find out that the elderly woman was on our flight, but the younger man was not, yet he was “Allowed” to take her to the gate (they have employees to do that-I know since my mother uses a wheelchair). Yet this “muslim” was allowed to go through security with this woman even though he was not on our flight shortly after 9/11. Also the woman had a lot of things in her lap, bags, totes, purses, carrying all this “stuff” and I was suddenly alarmed. WHY DID THIS GUY GET THROUGH SECURITY EVEN IF HE WAS NOT ON OUR FLIGHT WHEN NO ONE ELSE WAS ALLOWED? A United employee could have taken the woman to the gate. Then she gets early boarding and guess what? When we get on the plane, the woman is sitting in OUR ROW!!! She is even in my seat!!! (she took the window seat and placed herself there and when we arrived pretended not to understand when I told her she was in my seat). Actually I prefer the aisle seat but I was starting to feel kind of nervous. She had all this “stuff” around her and on the floor next to her. I decided to sit in the aisle and my mother sat next to her in the middle seat. I thought I could run faster to get help if needed as my mother has a very hard time getting out of the seat. Also, I told her to pay close attention if anything strange happens or if she takes anything unusual out of her “stuff” during the flight and let me know immediately. Needless to say we were on edge the entire flgith. Then half way through the woman pulls out FOOD out of her bag that she had made and starts eating. She leans over and asks me if I want to try some in not too bad English (so she did understand more than she pretended). I am not sure at this time if I tasted it or not. I only know this was the longest 4 hours of my life! When I told friends about this afterword, they laughed and laughed and laughed. Some people at work even turned it into a Saturday Night Live skit, where I sacrificed my mother on the plane and I ran for freedom. I agree, you do have to always trust your instincts. I tell my teenage niece all the time, if you go somewhere and something doesn’t seem right, trust yourself, because maybe it isn’t right.
December 4, 2009 at 11:37 am
You are so polite. I wouldn’t have been. I’d have asked. I was on a Southwest Flight. I’m an old white lady (the “typical” kind). I was carrying one purse. There are these two middle-Eastern guys with those black cases filled with electronics. They went right on. I got searched. I asked the young men–and I did NOT whisper–”tell me! When was the last time an old white woman or old black woman hijacked a plane?” The people behind me made “approval” noises. They TSI guys rolled their eyes and gave me a “what can you do?” expression. They KNEW it was all show. That’s why they picked me.
Are we too polite? Is it time to stop allowing this? I was recently in Florida in an outlet store. I was looking through a rack of children’s dresses. You know how you have to push the clothes down to be able to view them one at a time? I was the only one at the rack. A woman came up, stood beside me and pushed the dresses back into the space I’d made. I said, “exuse me?” She said, “well, I have to to see these.” I responded, “Yes, but I was here first and you need to wait while I finish.” She then screamed–and I mean screamed like a ghetto fish wife–”What’s the matter. You don’t like Spanish people.” I walked out. Should I have stayed and confronted this low-life immigrant/visitor to MY country?
December 4, 2009 at 10:55 am
This September we took our 4 kids to Disney World for the first time. I looked up and saw a Muslim man dressed in white pajama outfit described above waiting for our flight. He was with his family- children and wife. That was the only thing that comforted me. But I was mad that terrorism made me fear a flight just because of who was on it. But common sense and a mother bear like desire to protect my children made me full of fear. That is the desire of these terrorists to make us afraid and I was mad I felt that way. This family did nothing to make me think they were odd or acting weird but if I would have seen suspicious behavior I would have missed the flight.
December 4, 2009 at 11:24 am
The fact that this was a family would not reassure me. If you recall, the reason none of us can bring liquids or gels on planes is because a few years ago a plot was discovered to hide explosives in these materials. Two of the people caught in London, ready to board a plane? A muslim man, his wife, and their infant. The “mother” had explosives in the baby’s bottle. So much for caring about family.
December 4, 2009 at 12:16 pm
WTF? A baby bottle full of explosives? What kind of person could do this? And I’m glad I didn’t know this before I flew- I would have been flipping out!
And I really felt guilty after we landed that I was fearful of that family.
December 4, 2009 at 12:46 pm
Don’t feel guilty. It’s better to be a little fearful and questioning than it is to stick your head in the sand and go back to the pre 911 mentality.
December 4, 2009 at 5:30 pm
Yes it is really true. They were a Pakistani family. They were prepared to sacrifice their child just to blow up an aircraft.
December 4, 2009 at 1:14 pm
Excellent response. I was just thinking of this as well. In fact, I am reminded of this restriction about liquids every time I check in. I used to enjoy flying, but no more. I have to fly for business reasons. I am so angry about the restriction that I made sure I never forget why I can’t have more than 3 oz. of liquids in my carry-on. In fact, every time I have to take off my shoes so that the shoes can be scanned, I am reminded of the lunatic, Richard Reid. This is what terrorism has done to us, this is their victory in this battle, but we will win the war in spite of utopia’s aim that we don’t.

Anyone who questions this behavior should read ‘The Gift of Fear by Gavin deBecker
https://www.gavindebecker.com/index.php/resources/book/the_gift_of_fear/
I’ve read this and a book regarding children that he wrote, called Protecting the Gift.
Both really talk about using your intution and not turning it off. That way you’re less likely to end up in crappy situations but at the same time, don’t walk around paranoid.
Good reads. I highly recommend them to anyone.
December 4, 2009 at 11:17 am
I was going to mention that book! I always follow my instincts. I believe that instincts are a gift from God and should not be ignored. It is not about being afraid all the time just knowing when the bells are going off in your head and following your gut.
December 4, 2009 at 11:01 am
I’ve also witnessed groups of men in Muslim attire acting strangely before a flight. My impression was that they were trying to provoke fellow passengers in the boarding area into some sort of reaction that would permit them to claim racisim/Islamaphobia and file a lawsuit against the airline.
Regardless, it was clear that these groups of men were thoroughly enjoying the discomfort and intimidation they were inflicting on their fellow passengers.
I’m too obstinate to change my flight – I just sit there and think about ways to take those pieces of sh*t down if it comes to that. Bring it on!
December 4, 2009 at 5:34 pm
There are a few ways to cause them discomfort:
1. Wear a cross
2. If they start acting suspiciously make the sign of the cross
3. Have on hand a small Bible and pull it out in front of them.
4. If you are not religious then there is always Porky Pig. They get nervous about pigs and dogs. So maybe barking might cause them stress :)
December 4, 2009 at 11:02 am
Absolutely I’d decline to board or even get off the plane if I could. What’s a few hours delay? I’d rather arrive late than not at all! Trust your instincts! One thing I have learned in my 58 years on this earth.
December 4, 2009 at 11:04 am
Definitely!
And I think the consumers would be legally entitled to a refund because of the disruptive, un-respective, law-breaking rowdies would represent denial of the “service” the company had promised to deliver.
December 4, 2009 at 11:19 am
I didn’t know about this! I DID NOT KNOW…and I am an obsessive news junkie. I found a detailed description of the incident here: http://www.canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/17508 This happened 10 days after the Muslim terrorist attack at Fort Hood! Something VERY BAD is going on here. Government suppresses this? Government suppresses the Muslim executions of white police officers in Seattle? Government suppresses Muslim executions of white police officers in Philadelphia? Congress is investigating a couple of low-life reality show people but hasn’t had hearing one on the terrorist attack at Ford Hood? Now this?
There was a discussion yesterday (here?) about the Swiss vote on minarettes. That led me clicking on links which led me to crimes and rape committed by Muslims whereever they go–and most of these crimes have to do with raping children and women (one in Australia where a group of 10 or 11 Muslims raped a 14 (12?) year old child for 8 HOURS!! And their defense was they didn’t understand our culture??!!! They are barbarians.
In one of the bogs, someone tried to make the connection between being afraid of Muslims to Germans being “afraid” of Jews. That does not work. Jews were the smartest, the brightest in German society. They did not “rape” German children who didn’t wear head scarfs. They did not feed on the trough of government largesse. They did not have as the very cornerstone of their religion a dictate that they should kill or convert all gentiles. Islam is an abomintion where women and female CHILDREN are held as subhuman and can be tortured, raped, killed at will. This country Constitutionally prohibited the immigration of Communists because Communists had as the cornerstone of their belief the overthrow of our government and civilization. Islam is not an arbitrary, natural difference like race or sex or sexual preference. It’s an active movement and belief whose sole purpose is the worldwide conversion or killing of infidels. It’s a political system, a cult, a disgusting 16th Century barbarism whose purpose is the subjegation and slavery of women.
I’ve been in the Middle East. I watched what these “men” did to their women. My gawd, women can’t even use a public toilet. They have to go into the trees.
What would I do at an airport? I’d call TSI and I’d do it loudly. I’d refuse to get on the flight and would incite fellow passengers to follow suit. I’d raise hell and when they came to arrest me, I’d take them to court and call in FOX news.
Sarah Palin is right. It’s time to start profiling these subversive bastards. I’m sick to death of them. I do NOT want to live in France. I do NOT want to live in England. I do NOT want to live in Deaborn, and I WILL NOT show ANY respect for a philosphy and political movement that demands I wear a burqua or which teaches that without a head scarf I’m asking to be raped. Religion of peace, my a$$. They’re barbarians.
December 4, 2009 at 11:40 am
Brav-O!!! This is EXACTLY how I hope to respond if ever faced with the situation, and I firmly believe it is the only way we will ever take OUR HOME back.
VERY WELL SAID!
December 4, 2009 at 12:51 pm
Well said, Amy.
Sadly, the PC police and media try to cover up the reality of Islam.
It is NOT a religion of peace.
If you want to see what’s happening all over the Islamic world, go to the website: atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com
December 4, 2009 at 1:14 pm
Agree, Amy. Our chickens*** politicians and media covering this up is beyond despicable.
We the People best keep hollering for our safety and freedom.
December 4, 2009 at 1:56 pm
Amy, I could not agree more! Answer to hillbuzz thread question: Not just yes, but hell yes! I could not stay on a plane for one second where such a rather blatant potential threat to mine and everyone else’s safety was present. BTW, hillbuzz, I love you guys and frequently post links to your threads at other PUMA blogs. You always tell it like it is, and with such great, often funny, writing style. Please don’t ever stop.

Bravo! I’m in total agreement. Stand up to these illiterate freaks and incite pride in this country in all those around you.
I have only contempt for these so called humans who are only a half step up from animals (maybe it’s half step down, because animals don’t kill their kind without provocation).
I spit on their Islam and all it stands for.
December 4, 2009 at 11:25 am
If you have not had exposure to the middle eastern culture and attitude of pushing the limits and bargaining for everything, just note this. That is how their middle east culture of “everything is negotiable” operates.
If they can push you and bully you to get more and get their way or wants, then that is exactly what they do.
Our U.S. nabby-pammby wet panties liberals need a real education in life with “diverse cultures.” Now they’re more ignorant than Obama – and that’s saying a LOT!
December 4, 2009 at 11:44 am
Yes, I would have gotten off without a second thought. As far as all the . PC crap going on in this country today… Good Muslims’s today don’t have Americans to blame for “profiling” or “fear”. They simply need to put the blame where the blame belongs: to all the radical muslim terrorists in the world who are persistent in driving this kind of fear and persistent in wanting to kill Americans. We are not to blame. They are. We Americans need to quit appologizing for and quit letting liberals in this country dicatate what is and what isn’t PC in this country. They certainly need to take a few lessons in civility themselves. Let the Muslims who are offended by our so called “profiling” take it up with the people within their own religion who are giving good muslims a bad name.
December 4, 2009 at 11:44 am
I would rather be accused of being paranoid and live. I can’t imagine being in an airplane for a couple of hours terrified that at any moment something could happen. The more time goes by the less we keep our guard up.
December 4, 2009 at 11:47 am
YES!
December 4, 2009 at 11:55 am
Shortly after 9-11, I took Amtrak from Va to NYC and there was a group of young mid-eastern men on board. Oh yeah, my stomach was in knots, could trains be next? Especially that Amtrak tunnels under the Capitol building on it’s way to Union Station. Whew, nothing happened. It wasn’t til later, in Trenton, that the train broke down on a bridge for a few hours. Horrified that this was it. Exploding train on a bridge downtown! My heart was racing…until…
An announcement … “is there a doctor on board, please let the conductor know”. All these young men got up in response…to help a passenger who was having some medical problems. They even managed to help get her off the train and bridge to a waiting ambulance, and two of them went with her to the hospital.
I haven’t profiled since ! What heroes!
December 4, 2009 at 11:59 am
Great discussion, and thanks to Hillbuzz for “daring” to deal with these real-life topics. I sent an article on what is happening in Denmark (I thought balance and true) to a PC lefty friend. She replied, “I don’t agree with any of this. There should be no sharia law and immigrants have to obey our laws.” Well, duh. I wrote nicely back that the problem is enforcement in a cooperative culture that doesn’t know how to deal with people who won’t obey the laws. Many examples from Scandinavia in general. This is what we are up against–PC groupthink Candide ain’t it wonderful we are so wonderful and open to such poor perscuted people. So, just keep on trying to educate others, one on one, the best we can. I am committed to this.
December 4, 2009 at 12:08 pm
Imagine you are waiting for a flight going to Tel Aviv and you see that about 25% of the people waiting are wearing the pajama-like clothing, speak Arabic and look at you with clear disgust in their eyes…would you get on?
Well, you would have to. Here is why: We were going from Toronto to Israel (my wife and I as well as our daughter). My wife asked why there were so many arabic-speaking people on the flight and I reminded her that the Tel Aviv airport (which is actually half way between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem is also the only airport that Palestinians can use to get home in Ramallah or the West Bank. By the way, this was an Air Canada flight, not El Al (which usually has very few arabic-speaking passengers).
So, it was a bit unnerving but we really had no choice but to get on.
December 4, 2009 at 12:25 pm
I would it it a bit less likely they’d explode their dearly beloved and those oh-so-useful tools, the Palestinians.
December 4, 2009 at 2:11 pm
Side comment – El Al has NO problem with passenger profiling or wanting to be PC.
December 4, 2009 at 5:51 pm
If you are going to Israel you get thoroughly checked out. I have not been, but my husband has and the security is very tight. Everybody gets profiled.
December 4, 2009 at 12:22 pm
I am routinely searched when boarding a plane – me, a 67-year old woman, so white I glow in the dark, round midwestern face and then someone who sounds like they are clearing their throat when they pronounce their name doesn’t get searched? I am OFFENDED and I have shown my offense pretty clearly. Screw political correctness. I know for a fact that SWEDES didn’t fly those planes into those Twin Towers! I refuse to be somehow buffaloed into risking my life because some 7th century thinking idiot has decided to make war on MY country! We Americans seem to not want to make a scene in such circumstances and these murderous thugs know that! So I go against type pretty clearly. I make a fuss. If it discombobulates some idiotic minimum wage TSA drone, so be it. I can live with that.
December 4, 2009 at 2:07 pm
You go, girl!!!
December 4, 2009 at 2:12 pm
Gayle they usually search my 73 white MIL too.
If they lost a contact lens over there they would look over here because the light is better and it’s scary over there in the dark.
December 4, 2009 at 12:24 pm
I would not have the slightest hesitation in applying my knee to the requisite portion of some would-be murderer hijacking my plane if the opportunity presented itself. I’ve done it before when physically threatened and it’s amazing how docile a man can become when chastised in this fashion. It doesn’t require a lot of strength – just a lot of determination.
December 4, 2009 at 12:44 pm
I’d rather miss a flight and be branded a racist than die an early death. So yes, I’d absolutely refuse to board or demand to get off.

Yes. I would ask for another flight.
My ongoing interaction with practicing family of “The Religion of Peace” tm has left me not quite so sympathetic and ‘diverse.’
Our teenaged sons have played in a sports league together (for years). The mom has frequented my place of employment…at the gym (with her boys present) she is very quiet and aloof. Sitting in the stands (away from her sons!) however (or in the business I work at) she is friendly, warm, and trying to be as ‘normal’ as possible. When the husband is in attendance (at games) they sit away from others; and mom makes NO contact (eye or verbal) with anyone (even though you could have just spoken to her the day before). Dad teaches at one of the huge Universities here. Odd, huh?
I know I am sooooooo RAAAAACIST…but…lo and behold, guess who wound up ‘outraged’ (she could talk then) on the evening news as an discriminated against practitioner of the “Religion of Peace” tm when an older son was part of a group (same ROP) that were told by their public school distrct that they could NOT wear those ‘scarves’ (the fringed ones…can’t spell it) along with anti-Semitic tee shirts!!! Yep…some local variation of CAIR (different name…same play) was screaming foul (about the scarves…they had to concede on the tees though). The school district ‘won’ sort of…but the ‘indignant’ sure had a field day.
This was about a year and a half ago.
Aint diversity grand?

I see also that it seems she is allowed to speak up only if she is a mouthpiece for her husband.

Of course I’d get off…and FAST! Several weeks or maybe a month after 9/11, when the PATH (PortAuthorityTransHudson) tubes (subways) were running again, an UBER-liberal neighbor and I were making our way into lower Manhattan.
At the last stop in Jersey City, a Muslim woman in full hijab got on our car. She had her hands hidden UNDER HER ROBES the entire time it took to get us to the first stop in Greenwich Village (15 mins). This guy Brian and I looked at each other. The color drained from his face, and I know I was shit scared.
We didn’t say a word, but as soon as the train stopped at Christoper Street and the doors opened, we both ran the hell out of there ASAP. We walked the rest of the way to our respective destinations, above ground.
When we compared mental notes, we both were thinking that she was about to press a button on a freaking bomb. ‘Cause don’t forget, it was the dirt bag Muslims on Newark St., in Jersey City, who dance on the roof of their mosque on the night of September 11. And from that same mosque came the blind sheik who masterminded the WTC bombing of 1993.
Our country probably has more Islamic terrorists in it than Afghanistan.
Sheet!

AB-SO-BLOOMING-LUTELY.
Then, I’d holler at the airline, airport security, Homeland Security, the FAA my Senator and Rep, the media and the lazy, good-for-nothing thugs sullying OUR WH with their greed, lies, cheating and stealing.
Squeaky wheel works. Millions of squeaky wheels work even better. Persistence is the key.
Islam is not just a religion. It is a culture that includes misogyny and other forms of violence in large measure.

I just don’t fly anymore. In 2004, some power-mad, barely literate TSA agent went all psycho on me and actually laid my 3 month old son on the ground to check me. He was crying, I was crying and she threatened me with the back room treatment. Finally, a supervisor came over and picked my son off of the ground where everyone was putting their shoes back on and apologized. Never again. I was being profiled and rough-housed for what? Being a white mother? I’m sure real threats could have walked right by, but because we have to be sensitive, I got shake down. I haven’t flown since.
On another note based on some comments above, I attended an active shooter drill yesterday. Now LE says “fight back”. They explained that gunshot wounds take time to kill and shooters often miss unlike on TV, so fight back because you may save lives on down the line just by taking the power away from the assailant and putting some hurt on them. The non-LE culturally-sensitive workplace violence training I have had, on the other hand, says duck, cover, run, emphasize, etc.
I’m going with the LE model.
Also, visualize what you would do over and over in different situations: planes, parking lots, convienience stores, church, school, and home. When something does arise, your brain will have a “file” to access for you to take action to save your life or those of others.

If ANYONE is disruptive on an airplane I would get off at once. I don’t care if they are dressed in traditional Muslim garb, business suits, or nun’s habits. ANYONE who is disruptive on an airplane should be removed immediately. If they are not, then I’m outta there.
I do worry that this is some kind of dry run … to see how the airlines react, to see how the passengers react. American’s are not as naive as they were pre 9/11. We will not be complicit or sit by while ANYONE takes away our freedoms or attacks our country.

BTW I have seen photos of nuns being profiled and being searched by…. wait for it…. a Muslim woman TSA agent.
December 4, 2009 at 2:52 pm
I would get off also. I have a friend who works airport security in southwest USA and says they do “dry runs” all the time and people continue to test the system. She said while some of them are Middle Eastern (the latest was two guys in suits who wanted to board at the last minute with no boarding passes then when followed into mens room, changed from suits to jogging clothes and got into a car with no plates) some are also white guys 20′s-30′s. She gave examples like, handguns taped under wheelchairs, wires and batteries attached to peanut butter jars, laptops with too many batteries attached etc. She said the public should be made aware of the things they find every day nationwide – I doubt that will ever happen.

Hell no.
December 4, 2009 at 5:01 pm
O Hellz yeah. I would get off that plane so damn fast the air draft would blow the skirts up of the flight attendant.
December 4, 2009 at 8:04 pm
No, I wouldn’t get off the plane. I’d make THEM get off the plane; then invite the lawsuit. WE CANNOT BE COWARDS.
SCREW political correctness. SCREW “Muslim sensitivity.” THIS IS OUR NATION. We cannot let this violent jihadists force us to curl up in a corner.
They want us to run. They want us to hide. They want us to live in fear. This is nothing more than psychological terrorism.
And you know what? I’d say the same damn thing if the 9/11 hijackers were a bunch of habit wearing Catholic nuns or white-shirted Mormons. The group most likely to commit acts of terrorism are Muslim men in their 20s-40s. THEY deserve scrutiny.
It’s just common sense.
December 4, 2009 at 9:02 pm
Absolutely. I have gotten off a plane before when repairs below the cockpit floor went on far too long and involved the things on the wings that make the plane go up or down. The flight attendant said I couldn’t get off. I said (quietly but firmly) “I am getting off. I can do it quietly or I can do it noisily. Your choice.”

I was glad to bail out of a Pep Boys store the other day when a strange-looking and -acting ME guy, dressed in a black suit and odd cap, and carrying a beat-up fanny pack, looking angry as all get out, was lurking about. Someone else can make a point…
December 4, 2009 at 11:14 pm
I wouldn’t get off the plane. I’d round some men will big cajones and throw the Muslims off the plane. At the very least, I would notify the pilot that he had some suspicious characters on his plane that really need to be checked out. I’d probably end up with survivor’s remorse if I got off and the plane blew killing all the others on board.
BTW, the now dead killer of the four Lakewood, WA police officers was a Muslim. He converted while he was in prison in Arkansas. So thats 4 police officers and 13 American soldiers killed by Muslims in this country within the last two months. Be vigilant, people.

Plus a baby. One of the soldiers was pregnant.

I would have gotten off if I saw eleven of them sitting in different places and talking on cell phones, also disobaing when told to turn them off. So They were up to no good and I have a family to think of!
When they got up and started walking around, I would have not hesitated for a moment ! I do not trust ANY of them !! We better wake up before it’s too late, I can’t believe how many People still get a tingle up their legs when they see Obama, he is a dangerous man ! He lied about every thing he promised in his speeches when he was running, now that he is in, he just thumbs his nose at the American people and does what he wants to with our money, Judy
