Here’s something to get people talking at Thanksgiving Dinner tomorrow: could Michelle Bachmann become Speaker of the House in 2011?
Today we had an interesting breakfast at Nookie’s Tree (pumpkin pancakes, yo) with a friend of ours deeply involved in local Democrat politics here in Illinois. He’s a firm backer of Governor Quinn, and wants Hoffman to win the Dems’ Senate nomination (and is working hard behind the scenes to take corrupt mob banker Alexi Giannoulias down before he can win the Dem primary next year). Because of our support of McCain/Palin and the other stances we’ve taken since the takeover of the Democrat Party and its occupation by Utopian radicals, we’ve had little contact with this friend because the lot of us here have become “toxic” in Dem circles in Chicago. That’s fine with us, honestly, because we can’t in good faith work for a party that behaves the way it does, and treats women and gays the way it so enjoys doing.
But, our friend is a great conversationalist, and enjoys scrying into the future as much as we do. He believes Democrats will hold the Senate in next year’s midterms, but that Harry Reid will be defeated, by Sue Lowden most likely, and Dick Durbin will be installed as the new Senate Majority Leader (which will be a Christmas present to Republicans, since Durbin is a truly stupid and bumbling man, worse than Reid if that is even humanly possible).
He also thinks Democrats will indeed lose the House, as he’s hearing of more House members deciding not to seek re-election, knowing their votes on Utopicare will doom their careers. They have all been promised highly lucrative post-government jobs by Nancy Pelosi, however, so many of these Dems are willing to take the bullets for Utopiacare so that they can make millions in the coming years by working as “consultants” and then lobbyists, with Pelosi and the DNC’s employment agency placing them into golden parachutes (more like golden showers, if you ask us. Google it.).
What’s unclear to us is who the GOP has lined up to take Pelosi’s place if they get control of Congress.
Someone like Michelle Bachmann would be incredible, but our friend insists she’s not even on the long list, let alone the short list for the job. “Remember, Republicans are all about “whose turn it is” and “who has been waiting longest for the job”. There is no sense of timeliness with them, and never any consideration for who would be best to lead the party. They just get in a line and years later it’s their turn to be the nominee or the Speaker or whatever. That’s how Republicans do things, and that’s why they are so beatable usually”.
Every day, we want to know more and more about Michelle Bachmann because, like Sarah Palin, we are witnessing someone at the start of her national career who will be around for a very long time, with the potential to change American politics as we know it.
The Tea Parties could install Bachmann as Speaker, we believe, if the Tea Party Movement itself grows, buckles down, and becomes a larger force to be reckoned with going into 2010.
Palin herself could help deliver Bachmann unto the Speaker’s chair, if the candidate Palin campaigns for next year mostly win, and the next Congressional majority owes a lot to Palin. It appears Palin and Bachmann are friendly, if not already allies. Palin would be well-served with one of her own as Speaker. That could help Palin’s groundgame in 2012 immensely.
Speaker Boehner seems to be the way Republicans would go, because he looks like he’s next in line, but he’d be such a bad choice in our opinion. He’s not bold enough, not gutsy enough, and not memorable enough.
Whoever replaces Nancy Pelosi needs to be a firecracker. We also think the GOP needs to put a woman in that Speaker’s chair. Because of the misogyny the Democrats have wallowed in for the last two years, many women are open to voting Republican for the first time in their lives. Republicans, thus, have the once-in-our-lifetime chance to be seen as “the party for women”. Some of you might not like identity politics, but a great deal of independents sure do.
Independents decide elections…and many former Democrats are now independents who would like to see a woman succeed Pelosi.
Bachmann would make a dynamic, relevant, and capable Speaker, in our opinion.
A firecracker like that tossed into the top spot in the House would light a fuse that could blow Dr. Utopia from office in 2012, taking the rest of the Liberals in Congress with him.
What are your thoughts on Speaker Bachmann? Could it happen? Should it happen?
What happens if it happens?

Hi guys – I love reading your posts!! You have GREAT ideas!! I’m a Palin nut as well.
I agree with you 100% regarding Michelle Bachmann – I think she’s great and I love how vocal she is!! She would sure liven things up as Speaker of the house!! Hope your friends are right – that we can take the house back in 2010.
Thanks for all your insight!!

rumor is she and Palin will be at the first Tea Party Convention in Feb in Nashville.

I would love to see Michelle Bachmann in a high profile position, but after what I witnessed at the “House Call on Congress” on Nov. 5 I don’t think those egomaniac guys will allow it. If you recall it was Ms. Bachmann who called for the rally. We got to stand close to the edge of the big “patio thing” at the Capitol and when the first speaker began, I think the Rep. guy from Georgia who is a doctor, one of the female aides came on down the line by the railing and said “Please yell for Michelle – these guys are trying to highjack her event.” Well we (and the rest of the crowd quickly picked it up) did yell “We want Michelle” to the point of being rude. She had her turn and did beautifully, but darn if they didn’t let every single Republican Rep. say a few words after that. At least I think it was every single one. I left to hightail it over to the Russell Building to try to see my Senators before I had to leave, so I don’t know for sure how many spoke after that, but I heard at least 40 or 50. I have been so disgusted over that ever since.

I wish I could have attended that event. I really admire Bachmann. Thank you for your patriotism Pie in the sky, and for taking the time to be there. It is very important that we show we are a force to be reckoned with. We are planning on attending Beck’s next rally in Washington DC in August. I hope we have as good of a turn out as they did on 9/12.

In my opinion, Bachmann should be seriously considered for the Presidential Ticket. Palin/Bachmann 2012! Has a nice ring to it doesn’t it? Power to these two fabulous women!!!
November 25, 2009 at 5:08 pm
If Palin becomes the nominee, it would certainly be to her benefit to have another woman on the ticket with her. It would send the lib women into hysterics, and the Indy’s and Rep/Conservatives would come out in droves.
November 25, 2009 at 8:03 pm
I would LOVE that ticket!

November 25, 2009 at 4:09 pm
Great post.
I am a huge fan of Michele Bachmann and Marsha Blackburn, and would like to see Michele Bachmann on the ticket in 2012. I am thinking that Palin/Bachmann or Bachmann/Palin would be a good ticket in 2012. I like Bachmann a lot more than I like Palin.
November 25, 2009 at 4:16 pm
Being from Minnesota, I love Bachman.
But she is HATED by the left here, and her seat is not a sure thing. If ACORN gets into her district—watch out!
I love Michelle, and I would love to see a Palin/Bachman ticket. People’s heads would explode! Two, smart and attractive women (both mothers of large families) running this country? YESSSSSS!!!!
November 25, 2009 at 4:45 pm
She’s been a foster mother to 23 children as well. WOW! The more I learn about her the more I absolutely adore her.
I too am from the Upper Midwest and now that I’m living in Seattle, I have found that Minnesotans = the cream of the crop. Minnesotans walk the walk when it comes to caring for children, America’s most valuable resource. What has Dr. Utopia done for education?
Palin/Bachmann 2012 oh yah you betcha!!!
November 25, 2009 at 11:06 pm
You don’t know this State so well, Jennifer.
This is becoming a blue blue blue State that worries more about political correctness than ANYTHING else.
As the extreme Left and Unions take over, we will become like Detroit. It started there, it moved to Wisconsin, and it’s coming to Minnesota next.
I wish the nice people of Minnesota would stop being so “tolerant”(which actually means self-hating) and stand up against the encroaching Government control, but they do not.
I’m afraid I won’t be living here much longer….
November 25, 2009 at 8:05 pm
She’s been the biggest force against ACORN in the House these past few months – she’s gonna clean their clocks!
November 25, 2009 at 4:25 pm
I live in MN Dist. 6 and I LOVE BACHMAN!!!
Tamara is right the Lefties absolutely HATE her. As far as acorn goes, I would hope that everyone is much wiser after the Franken BS. I think that we need to get as many poll watchers and people working at the polling sites as possible.
Michelle Bachaman is the only thin in Minnesota politics that isn’t a complete farse.
November 25, 2009 at 11:07 pm
And Lioness, I wish I could have her as mine. I have Muslim Hater Keith Ellison, and he holds prayer meetings in his OFFICE!
Does the media cover that infringement of church/state?
No way.
November 25, 2009 at 4:38 pm
I love Michelle Bachmann, and I love the way you guys think. I don’t know if Michelle is supposed to be in Nashville in Feb. but Sarah Palin is the Keynote Speaker. Even if people can’t afford the convention tickets, or don’t want to attend all of the workshops, I hope we can get a large crowd out to welcome her. And I would love to have a meetup there to meet many of you. If any of you are planning on going, please let me know so we can all make arrangements to get together.

I can just imagine the giant turnout that day. I wish I was going, but it’s doubtful. If she runs I bet we all meet up in Iowa!
November 25, 2009 at 4:44 pm
I met Michele a month or so ago when she came to CT for an event. She said that Pelosi is targeting 10 top seats in next year’s election to topple the candidates – and Michele’s on that list!
I met Sarah Saturday in Rochester and we were wearing our “CFS Supports Michele Bachmann” (CFS = Connecticut for Sarah, part of Team Sarah), and Sarah said “oh, I see you support Michele Bachmann, I love her.”
First she called us brave for wearing our Sarah and Michele pins.
Very, very gracious lady. So giving of herself for HOURS on end.
Go Rogue with her on this tour if you can somehow make it happen!! :)
November 25, 2009 at 4:49 pm
I love Michelle Bachmann and seeing her take the gavel out of Pelosi’s hands would be an absolute JOY to watch.
November 25, 2009 at 5:11 pm
With Sarah being the keynote speaker at the teaparty convention, it worries me that she isn’t thinking of running in 2012. Any thoughts?
November 25, 2009 at 5:11 pm
You guys are further right then Little Green Footballs. Wow.
November 25, 2009 at 11:09 pm
Little Green Footballs is LEFT? You must be smoking something. Oh, that’s right, if you’re from SF and you’re Goth, then you are guaranteed to be smoking something.
LGF is an anti-semite and Obama lover.
Get a clue, you idiot.

Michelle Bachmann and Sarah Palin will headline the first Tea Party convention in February in Nashville – confirmed:
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/11/25/palin-bachmann-to-headline-tea-party-convention/
Check out the hate in the comments, if you have stomach for it. Keep on throwing that kerosene on the fire, alienating people, you crazy obots.
November 25, 2009 at 5:21 pm
I was a little disturbed until I saw it was the CNN site…. I mean, they’re total viewership was commenting…all 100 of them.
It’s like distilled poison. A small amount, but still nasty.
November 25, 2009 at 6:18 pm
“Independents decide elections…and many former Democrats are now independents who would like to see a woman succeed Pelosi.”
I gotta say HillBuzz, this statement that you guys wrote is 100% correct.
I will admit, I could NOT NOT stand Bachmann, that;s when I was still wathcing ONLY MSNBS and CNN, and listened to their crap.
Now, after seeing the abuse this “party of women” did agn Hillary, my eyes were finally open to what the conservatives would say about the looney left being vicisious.
I have listened to Bachmann, and BlackBurn, and love them both! they are very articulate in their points.
I can totally see Bachmann as the speaker.
and yes, most EX-DEMOCRATS like me are now independents, no more voting straight “D”,
the UN-DNC has NO clue how they have destroyed the party. Millions of us will never forget or forgive 2008 and how they ripped apart Hillary and moved onto their next target, Sarah.
November 25, 2009 at 11:56 pm
As a once loyal Dem, it will be a very long time before I vote for one again. I’m only interested in getting as many out of office, for now. For me it’s a matter of letting them know that most of America is not on their side.
November 25, 2009 at 6:35 pm
I’d LOVE to see Michele Bachmann as Speaker of the House!!!!! She reminds a lot of Sarah Palin, who I love, but she has more of a “presidential education”, being a lawyer and everything. At any rate, we need more women in politics like Sarah and Michele, and of course, there is only one Hillary!!!
November 25, 2009 at 7:06 pm
As my long-deceased American Gramma used to say, “Us great minds all think alike!”
Bachmann and Palin certainly are inspirational leaders, but I’d like to see people of other ethnicity having a place in the equation for federal conservative leadership, as well. Can’t all be good ole girls from the North!
November 25, 2009 at 11:12 pm
Well, Michael, if they RUN, I might support them! Where are all of the “people of other ethnicity” who are running?
Hmmmmm?
And besides that, I don’t vote for a person’s skin color, I vote for their CHARACTER.
You might want to read something written by a “person of other ethnicity”.
His name was Martin Luther King.
December 3, 2009 at 2:52 pm
Tamara;
Appreciate your remarks. I’ve been thinking about color and bias in politics, including my own. As I understand it, the majority of blacks will vote black, defaulting to Democrat. I would expect hispanics, orientals, whites and any other self-defined group to vote ‘their’ candidate first, and to default to ‘their’ Party secondly.
So, if a white-skinned candidate intends to win, she or he has to align with one or more other definable group, e.g., blacks, hispanics, jews, GLBTs, hockey moms, or whomever. He or she has to align at the same time with about half the self-styled Independents, whoever these fence-sitters may actually be.
That’s a very large order. And as much as I admire this new type of conservative woman as a candidate, such as Bachmann and Palin—and not to discount the other gender—whoever is running for office is going to have to consider and include some of the other groups in their strategy, yet without becoming a RINO. IMHO.
November 25, 2009 at 8:27 pm
Palin has something more important than being a lawyer. She has executive experience and more importantly a record of standing up to political machines.
I love Michelle Bachmann to death but her career path, to me, anyway, is not nearly as inspirational as Sarah’s.
I think the’d make a great team. If Sarah runs, and wins the nom, we can be darn sure she won’t pick a political insider.
November 25, 2009 at 10:10 pm
I like Michelle Bachmann, but Speaker of the House isn’t the right job for her. She would end up being demonized like Newt Gingrich. Michelle has a history of putting her foot in her mouth and saying things that she’s forced to backtrack on. It’s inevitable because she’s lively and passionate and occasionally says things that are a little undisciplined. That’s fine in a House Rep. that doesn’t hold a leadership position, but it’s not so good when some ill-worded statement can be hung around the entire party.
During the last presidential election she went on Chris Matthews’s Hardball show and he slickly walked her through a series of questions that took her from what she was saying about Obama’s connections with radicals like Bill Ayers into a trap that ended in Matthews getting her to say she thought Obama was Anti-american.
MR. MATTHEWS: So you believe that Barack Obama may have anti- American views.
REP. BACHMANN: Absolutely. I’m very concerned that he may have anti-American views. That’s what the American people are concerned about. …..
There are other Republicans that are dynamic organizers, good speakers, and skillful at the tactical gamesmanship of politics. John Shaddegg of Arizon is a deficit hawk that has a lot of credibility on fiscal responsiblity. Mike Pence of Indiana is another guy that went after the minority leadership spot and is a pretty effective speaker on television. Eric Cantor of Virginia and Paul Ryan of Wisconsin are also deficit hawks, young, telegenic, and considered to be up and coming stars.
While I’d love to see Obama stymied by a GOP Congress, I don’t want him to be able to campaign against the GOP congress in 2012. It might be better to have the Dems retain razor thin 1 vote majorities that they can’t effectively govern with but are still officially in control. Also, keep in mind how effectively the media downplayed the fact that Democrats controlled both houses of Congress from 2006 on to the extent that many less-informed voters didn’t realize that the GOP wasn’t in charge in 2008.
November 25, 2009 at 11:49 pm
Ruthless, analytical, and as always – spot-on. My boyfriend and I would love to actually meet the brains behind this blog.
Decent folks.
Email.

Completele agree with your assessment of Boehner. Bachmann would be awesome, but I fear the utopian radicals will gin up some phony scandal about her and ruin her chances. The Republicans, as they always do, will take the bait and force her to bow out. Happens every time. But I can dream, can’t I.
November 27, 2009 at 1:43 am
Agreed, I adore Bachmann also, but from what I’ve heard she may be toast in 2010 due to redistricting. MN is losing one House seat and the Secretary of State there is a far-out lefty Dem. Her district will no longer exist.
November 27, 2009 at 12:18 pm
A lot of people don’t realize that many of the Secretaries of State are people who have been put forth by George Soros’ organizations – it’s even CALLED Secretaries of State….

I would like to find out more about Nancy Pelosi’s promise of jobs for Congresspeople who lose their seats because of their votes for Obamacare. I have googled this, and I can’t find anything, other than the fact that the Dems are more afraid of Queen Nancy than they are of their constituents.
November 29, 2009 at 10:04 am
Great blog.
I’ve met and interviewed Rep. Bachmann many times. The left here in Minnesota has hated her with a passion that’d amaze people from outside the state, since long before she rose to national prominence (she was a state senator for several terms before running for Congress). Seeing her as Speaker would give a lot of people aneurysms.
But one of the previous commenters is right; barring an electoral miracle in Minnesota in 2010 – where the DFL controls both houses of the Legislature, and the SOS is a wahhabi liberal, Mark Ritchie – Bachmann is going to be out of office. She could possibly do what her predecessor, Mark Kennedy, did when his district got shifted in 2000, and move to another one – but Minnesota currently has four hyper-safe DFL districts (Ellison, McCollum, Oberstar and the blue-dog Peterson), three fairly safe GOP districts (Kline, Paulsen and, currently, Bachmann’s) and one purple district (DFLer Walz), who won during 2006’s anti-GOP surge; it’d be a long shot to think that Michele could move to Walz’s district and upset a sitting incumbent.
Not impossible, but very difficult.
