Today, we bought our copies of Going Rogue here in Chicago. Not knowing we were buying them, several friends bought extra copies when they bought theirs, and so we’re going to have extra books later tonight.
Tomorrow, we are taking three of those to the assisted living centers/nursing homes here in Boystown to donate them to the little libraries they have there.
Old people are the most dependable, regular voters out there…and they typically default vote Democrat. But, this crazy assault on Medicare that is the Utopiacare plan has seniors scared. If they also happen to read Going Rogue while in this frame of mind, we figure it might earn Palin some friends in unexpected places.
We had the idea that in a few months, when Palin’s book goes on sale and there are copies on Amazon for a few dollars a piece, we’re going to start buying up as many of the books as we can and take them into Iowa the next trip we take there.
Then, we’re going to drive to all the nursing homes we can find, hospitals too, and slip the books into their libraries. We will put them right on the shelves. Someone there will read them. Either the residents and patients, or the family members visiting there.
We also think it’s a smart idea to donate books to private school libraries. We remember going to private school and the libraries rarely ever got new books as there weren’t any funds for that. So, they will gladly take free copies to add to their current events and political studies collections.
We’re speaking directly to Sarah Palin supporters here: you should really come up with a plan for the months and years ahead to get as many people in Iowa to read this book as possible. PARTICULARLY people who normally default vote Democrat but can be persuaded to back Sarah in 2012.
You should be operating as if she is already running for President.
That’s a mistake we made with Hillary Clinton: we waited for the campaign to seek volunteers and activate them. We should have just organized on our own starting back in 2003 when she had her book tour. Just imagine how prepped we would have been for her presidential run if we had thought to do that — or if it had occurred to us to start HillBuzz way back then instead of in 2008.
Wait to buy the extra books for donation so you can get them for pennies on the dollar once they hit the used market…but we think it would be an ingenious move to get those to the nursing homes, hospitals, and private schools. Wherever there is a book shelf for people to read books for free, slip a copy in. In Chicago, some coffee shops and restaurants or hotels have these reading shelves. Bed & Breakfasts, saunas, some gyms, etc.
This could actually become a little game we could all play. Maybe in each book we write the address for www.Conservatives4Palin.com, right in the hardcover, so that anyone reading the book could get more scoop on Palin from that great site.
And, it would be a fun way to do some volunteering too. Because while you are slipping those books into the libraries of hospitals and nursing homes, you could be chatting with the residents who don’t get visitors…not necessarily about Sarah, but just about life, listening to their stories, and then maybe talking about Sarah and what she will do to save Medicare.
Just saying.
There could be a lot of fun opportunities to campaign for her and do some good at the same time.
You just have to go rogue and get off your butts and do it.

This is a GREAT idea!

Oh oh…GOP better watch out. They treated her badly and they NEED that particular vote. What better way to hold the feet to the fire than this? Very good, Hillbuzz. Very, very good.

Need to try and snag some large print versions for the nursing homes and assisted living. I am going to see if those are available.
December 6, 2009 at 12:50 am
Yes, large print copies are available in paperback for $16.47 at Amazon. Currently the large print edition is #1 in the large print catagory, so it looks like some older folks are already buying it, which is great.

Campaign of 2008: Chapter 2010. Page 1. After buying up all of the used and not so used SP books we can afford, we are going to slip them into in every little knook and cranny we can from here to Alaska per that great idea from the Hillbuzz. Page 2. Having received tea party training in April, July, September and November of 2009 we are totally ready to link together across America patriots and get serious about getting our country back. Sarah has already started her campaign — we should be too.

Let me just say this about Sarah Palin:
My mom (God love her) refused to vote for a woman for President for YEARS. She even said she wouldn’t vote for ME as president because a woman shouldn’t be president.
She’s not a liberal, but she’s about a generation behind her own, and while I’m pretty darned conservative I have no problem with the right woman being elected to office.
The other day, after I saw Sarah Palin speak at an event here in Wisconsin, I was at my parents’ house when a story about “Going Rouge” was on television.
So I asked my mom, “If Sarah Palin runs for president in 2012, would you vote for her?”
My mom replied, “Yeah, I think I would.”
I’m supposed to get my copy of the book from Amazon soon. I hope.
November 19, 2009 at 7:15 pm
My mother was born in 1906 (died in 1997-still miss her!), and she would definitely have voted for Sarah. I think a lot of older women are like her. When she died, one of the things we found in her journal was a list of legislation she was following, to remind her to write to her Senators and congressman.

Talk about a sexist idiot….
DAVID FRUM: This is a woman who has got into a position of leadership by sending very powerful sexual signals. And we see that in the way that men like her much more than women do.
November 19, 2009 at 9:41 am
Then we must assume that David thinks with another head.
November 19, 2009 at 9:42 am
No, we should assume that David believes that SP’s supporters are lead by another head. What in the world is he thinking?
November 19, 2009 at 10:51 am
> What in the world is he thinking?
You’re giving him too much credit with that question… ;o)
November 19, 2009 at 12:57 pm
Then we must assume the man is indeed a sexist idiot and has no intelligent statement filter between his little head and his mouth!
What a marroon!
November 19, 2009 at 1:06 pm
How does he know more men than women like her? I love how liberals assume or believe themselves to be clairivoyent
November 19, 2009 at 5:57 pm
Since on average men are more conservative than women, and Palin is quite conservative, it figures that Palin would do better among issues-oriented men than issues-oriented women.
But if you’re an elitist jerk like Frum, you know what is going on inside the heads of millions of people you never met, and that they are only motivated by base, animal urges, so you know better.

Great idea about the nursing homes, etc. During the Presidential election, I visited my aunt at a HUD housing community (old white women/men). They were just sitting around the TV listening to some alphabet network talk about how bad Bush was and McCain was the same. I thought of how many times this same senario was playing itself out across the US.
My mom doesn’t have cable. She sits at home and watches the View, PBS and Charlie Gibson. She didn’t vote for Obama because my husband and I were giving her money every month until her investments were sound again. This woman used to be a Republican Committee woman, and now thinks Dr. Utopia is great. It is a sad thing to see someone indoctrinated by the leftist media.
Regarding copies of the book, I was thinking of donating some to the local library so more people would be able to read it sooner. The county library probably ordered two copies.
November 19, 2009 at 11:19 am
Trixie,
I can relate! My mother has always been a Dem in a Dem state. She lives in a rent controlled apt. and does not have cable. I tried to talk to her about Dr. Utopia and she repeated the stupid MSM stuff about Sarah Palin (dumb, clothes, etc.,) before the election.
I think great minds think alike–I thought I should have bought an extra book to donate to my library up the street!!
November 19, 2009 at 11:40 am
It is sad that so many people still think the Alphabets, PBS are giving the real news. I felt bad about my mom saying she wouldn’t vote for The One because we were giving her money. I asked my husband how it felt to buy his first vote. Maybe we have a future with Acorn.
MizzouGal – you are correct about large print books for the elderly. Amazon says large print will be available November 24th.

This is a fantastic idea! BTW — I just found your website; keep up the great work and those wonderful ideas flowing!

See, this is where the GOP loses its footing. In my several efforts to extract from the GOP exactly what they needed from me to help their efforts, it was invariably, “cash.” And if not cash, well, I had no prestige to lend so, thenkewveddymuch they wished me good day.
And most grassroots Republicans have now demonstrated to the GOP that they have time, energy, and numbers to shake the political foundations of the party, without the outlay of tons of cash.
Political will has been woefully dismissed by the likes of Mr. Steele, Mr. Gingrich and Beltway insiders. Only Newt has had the political savvy to apologize, much good may it do him, brilliant narcissist that he is.
Yes, a Bookmobile Revolution! Mobilize the books that make a difference. Books are hard to fight when they become ubiquitous. A nice suggestion for a perfectly quiet riot of political influence!
November 19, 2009 at 11:18 am
Nursing homes vote Democrat because so many of the straight-ticket ballots are filled out by the Democrat operatives who go into the homes each election cycle to helpfully assist the residents in voting. Books won’t help much.
November 19, 2009 at 12:16 pm
Keep an eye out for the book on tape or CD. It’s a great way for the elderly to enjoy books even though their eyesight is failing.

All right, that’s enough. You guys are making it impossible to continue disliking Hillary supporters! Stop this at once!

Great idea thoughtfully put forth. That’s the kind of teamwork that’ll be necessary to restore the nation once Barry has done his worst.
November 19, 2009 at 3:59 pm
Here’s a better idea:
Find volunteers to read that book to seniors and talk to them about why Obamacare would be a disaster for them, and Sarah would be an improvement over Obama.
If you just take the books and drop them off they’ll be in the trash bins in no time.
Remember, the staff at nursing homes vote Democrat, and the owners of nursing homes will make more money off Obamacare.
While I’m thinking about it, have a plan to visit those nursing homes and help the residents vote, either absentee or in person. If you don’t, ACORN will.
November 19, 2009 at 4:33 pm
It doesn’t have to be just this book — there’s Mark Steyn and Mark Levin and Jonah Goldberg and Bill Whittle and and and…. Then how about movies? A Convenient Fiction, the Great Global Warming Swindle, Indoctrinate U…could do DVDs or arrange excursions to screenings….
And if people need a teaser before picking up a book, photocopy a particularly intriguing page and leave it lying on a table….
November 19, 2009 at 4:54 pm
….and while you’re at it, slip in some copies of Milton Friedman’s “Free to Choose” Amity Schlaes “The Forgotten Man, and “Atlas Shrugged.”
BUT dont be surprised if the liberal librarians take all of them including “Going Rogue” off the shelves and throw them in the trash. Librarians are a bastion of ultra-liberalism.
November 19, 2009 at 5:09 pm
While you’re at – Levin’s “Liberty and Tyranny” should be read by all Americans. Once our foundations are re-learned, Sarah is a shoe-in.
November 20, 2009 at 12:27 am
I really, really, really love you guys. I am in sobbing mode that you would be so kind and thoughtful to do this, for so many reasons. I never in a million years thought I would fall so deeply infatuated with Hillary supporters as I never was one, but I was WRONG! You are me, we are kindred spirit and I didn’t even know you existed until your beautiful post about thanking W. Your words touch my heart. You are the kindest, most thoughtful group of guys I have seen (read?)in a long time.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
November 20, 2009 at 3:19 pm
If you come to Des Moines–please let me know! I would consider it an honor and a priviledge to meet you! Or if you could let me know your travel agenda, I could arrange to meet you…Des Moines is centrally located in the state…
You guys are all the best of Hillary’s volunteers–and true Americans.

It made me cry a little when I see my job will be to provide GOING ROGUE to the people who live in my Senior Living Apt Building….
Thus linking us to everyone else for Sarah Palin for POTUS.
