In the past year, we’ve interacted with Republicans for the first time in our lives, primarily through people we met via the McCain/Palin campaign and this website.
What we’ve found most interesting in that time is how different Democrats and Republicans see elections — which is something many of you out there might not even realize.
We grew up Democrat, and every day was a campaign day. The only day we weren’t campaigning for something was Election Day, in which case we were working our lists getting as many old people, drunks, homeless, and the sick to polling places as possible in Democrat controlled areas. Just about the only time any of us drive cars in the course of a year is polling day…and that’s to run shuttle services for people who would otherwise sit home and not vote Democrat.
The day after an election, Democrats start gearing up for the next one.
Republicans have a big Election Day networking breakfast, followed by a Watch the Polls mid-morning brunch, then a Polling Day buffet at the Union Club, followed by a Results Watch LIVE! cocktail party at the trendiest and most expensive bar in town.
Then, when they lose, they have a commiserating reception the next day on somebody’s yacht, where they break out the really good scotch and wonder where it all went wrong.
Nine months later, they decide to start thinking about the next election.
A year after that, they finally get around to picking a candidate, typically going with someone unwinnable, abrasive, terrible, zealous, fringe, or flat-out nuts (see: Pulido, Rosanna in Chicago’s last special election).
Another Election Day, another chance to mope and drink. That’s doing it the Republican way in Illinois.
MEANWHILE, Liberals are using ACORN, the Alinsky playbook, and George Soros’ commandments to install radicals as the Secretaries of State in most purple states, such as the vile Jennifer Brunner, ACORN accomplice, in Ohio. The DNC has a multi-faceted scheme for fraud and electoral corruption that counts on not only installing people like Brunner in the election process, but also depends on Republicans going to their cocktail parties oblivious of what’s going on.
Currently, things are starting to trend Republican in the polls for 2010, which is actually a counterintuitively bad thing.
Republicans’ worst vice is complacency. If they believe “it’s in the bag for us” in 2010, they will sit on their butts, or start party planning for the next election celebration. That is the last thing they can afford to do.
Here is what we would like to see happen on the GOP side so that Dr. Utopia, our illustrious current president, can be defeated in 2010 and removed from office in 2012:
(1) ACORN and all of its affiliates like the SEIU must be staked through the heart, dismembered, covered in Holy Water, eviscerated, cremated, and rocketed directly into the sun.
Even then, it will still be a threat.
It’s obvious to us Republicans still don’t realize what they are dealing with in terms of ACORN.
ACORN is a domestic terrorist organization and criminal enterprise.
If Al Capone was alive today, he would be proud so much of his organization is still intact, by way of ACORN. These people are criminals, and the new Capone, at large, is George Soros, whom too few Republicans know anything about.
Capone’s footmen and lieutenants ran neighborhoods, with Capone cells positioned every few blocks to control what the hapless souls in their areas did: who they voted for, where they spent their money, what they did for work.
That’s what Soros-fueled ACORN does today…and it’s all part of a massive Get Out the Vote effort that keeps putting radicals and liberals into office.
We tell you as often as possible what we saw ACORN do for Dr. Utopia during the primaries and general election last year. In Iowa, we saw ACORN bus in hundreds of people from Chicago to Ioawa caucus sites, where ACORN supporters ran the check-in tables and allowed non-Ioawans to vote for Dr. Utopia in the caucus. ACORN pushed and shoved old people, told them they were in the wrong caucus site, and insisted if they didn’t vote for Dr. Utopia they would tell all their friends and neighbors they were RAAACISTS.
It was the most vile thing we had ever seen…until we went to Ohio, Texas, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and other states where we campaigned first for Hillary Clinton and then for McCain/Palin.
ACORN, teamed up with the SEIU and Black Panthers, blocked polling places so non-Utopia voters couldn’t cast their ballots. “You’re going to vote right, aren’t you?”, these thugs would say to old people in particular, telling them they would know if they didn’t vote for Utopia and there would be consequences for voting “wrong”.
In Chicago, we don’t know how it’s done, but the local Aldermen really do know who you voted for. We seriously are baffled by how they do it, but we’re repeatedly told by property owners that if they call the Alderman’s office after they didn’t vote for him or her, there’s a pause on the phone as it feels like their names are looked up in a book. If they didn’t “vote right”, then no one will come pick up their garbage. If they did vote right, the City workers can’t move fast enough to get things taken care of.
We didn’t believe this until we watched it in action one day, with two different people, both living in the same Alderman’s district, calling about the same parking issue. One of them voted for him, and the other didn’t. They called the same office, just hours apart. The one who voted for him got what she wanted…the one who voted for the other guy got the shaft.
It was stunning.
And when you hear stories about what Helen Jones-Kelly, Obama operative, did in Ohio and what Jennifer Brunner, Ohio’s Secretary of State, did to get as many fraudulent votes and fake voter registrations through in 2008, you have to wonder how much ELSE is going on that you never hear about.
As much as we love Glenn Beck, Andrew Brietbart, Anita Moncrief, Hannah Giles, and the rest who’ve been in the forefront exposing ACORN lately, we’re afraid of that Republican complacency creeping in again.
Congress passed a bill to cut ACORN’s funding…but ACORN is suing to get the funding restored. They will most likely win.
Funding ACORN is like putting Al Capone on the national payroll. It must be stopped.
George Soros is running a systematic campaign to put ACORN loyalists like Jennifer Brunner into Secretary of State positions in all 50 states if he can. He must be stopped.
We have only from now until 2010 to hit ACORN with everything we’ve got so the Liberals can be driven from Congress…with the larger goal of using 2010-2012 to make sure ACORN is completely eliminated before the 2012 elections, so Dr. Utopia will not have his greatest field asset available to him.
(2) The Five Horsemen of the GOP 2012 Apocalypse must be discredited and marginalized before the MSM can push them as the 2012 nominee.
See above where we talk about Democrats fighting future elections while Republicans are sipping martinis at cocktail party meet and greets and networking events.
Democrats are pushing five men to be Dr. Utopia’s opponent in 2012, all of whom are sure to lose against him:
(a) Mitt Romney — who conservatives will be lukewarm to, no one can get excited about, and whom flip-flops on just about everything so much even he doesn’t know what he stands for. That’s more fatal to his candidacy than his Mormonism is — because, like it or not, there are a lot of Americans who are openly hostile towards and prejudiced against Mormons. It’s not fair, but unlike with Islam, speaking out against Mormons is socially acceptable and highly encouraged by the MSM. Romney would make an excellent Treasury or Commerce Secretary in the next administration…but he is a very nice, bland man who should not be a Presidential or Vice Presidential nominee. Ever.
(b) Mike Huckabee — a very nice and likeable man who is exceptionally entertaining. He’s also very useful for Democrats because he was an excellent spoiler for Romney in Iowa in 2008. Democrats used Huck to take Romney down there, as Romney would have been a bigger threat in 2008 than McCain was. Democrats plan to use Huckabee again in Iowa in 2012, possibly to take down Sarah Palin or Fred Thompson, if the two of them decide to run. The MSM would treat Huck with kid gloves as long as he’s damaging other, stronger national candidates: he will appeal to conservatives and force his peers to get into social issues Republicans would be smart to avoid if they want to keep Independents in the fold. All Independents want to hear about are jobs, the economy, jobs, scaling back the overreach of government, jobs, and turning back Dr. Utopia’s encroachment into their private lives. Oh, and jobs.
(c) Tim Pawlenty – less exciting than watching paint dry. Plus, there has never been a good photograph taken of this man, not even by people who really like him and have tried for hours to take such a photograph. He always comes off looking droopy eyed and jowely, tired, and vaguely used-car-salesman. Like it or not, that’s going to matter when the media revs up to full blast to give Dr. Utopia a second term. You need to understand that the MSM bet everything on this man, and they will lose everything if he’s a one-term Carteresque failure. Tim Pawlenty does not have what it takes to be the Presidential nominee…though he might, just might, be a good VP pic. He’s more interesting and photogenic than Joe Biden, at least.
(d) Charlie Crist — someone else who would be used by the MSM like Huckabee, but who will ultimately be outed by the MSM when they are done using him to take down stronger candidates. Everything Crist did at the Green Iguana will one day be made public. It is only a matter of time. No amount of weddings can do Crist any better than they did Rock Hudson, Tom Cruise, or John Travolta. Charlie Crist might as well be a candleabra toting pianist for as believable he is as a heterosexual. Just like with Aaron Schock, another darling of the MSM for the GOP, Crist is a timebomb who keeps being built up by people who are eager to one day out him when he can do the most damage to the GOP.
(e) Jon Huntsman — the most interesting of all the Horsemen on this list, Huntsman was removed from his governorship and sent to China by Dr. Utopia, with Rahm Emanuel calling him a threat to Utopia’s second term. That’s like the Harlem Globetrotters talking about how much they dread playing the Washington Generals. Huntsman is a delusional fool. He will more likely than not indeed be encouraged to run in 2012. No doubt the DNC and large Democrat donors will fund his campaign. He is the candidate Democrats want to run against in 2012, more than Romney even, just as Dems wanted to run against John McCain. Republicans should stop talking about Huntsman as a contender immediately.
Pursuant to all the above, with our mind still on (1) as well, the GOP needs to come up with some way to keep the Democrats from gaming the 2012 nomination process and selecting whom they want to run against. We have no idea how to do that.
ACORN, if not defeated by then, will help Dems pick their favorite opponent. Dems will be encouraged to switch party affiliation so they can vote for Romney or Huckabee instead of someone who will actually beat Dr. Utopia. Dem donors will flood weak candidates with as much money as possible so they can cannibalize the vote and ensure the worst possible GOP standard bearer emerges.
Their plans are crystal clear in this…and we have less than three years to stop them.
What can you do to make sure the GOP nomination is not gamed next go round?
(3) Republicans need to give Independent and Moderate voters an excuse that lets them admit voting for Dr. Utopia was the dumbest thing they have done in a while.
We suggested this the other day, when we suggested a grassroots campaign should be started to “Blame Oprah” for all of this. We’ve found, anecdotally, here in Chicago that people are more likely to admit what a disaster Dr. Utopia is if they don’t also have to admit how stupid they are for having fallen for all of Utopia’s lies.
BUT, when we’ve suggested to these people that Oprah tricked them, and that they never would have backed Utopia if Oprah hadn’t told them to, then suddenly they speak freely about what a promise-breaking, lying, socialist embarrassment the current president is.
You might think this is ridiculous, but we swear it works. Even here in Boystown, where people were so drunk on Kool-Aid and deranged for Utopia that they once believed he really was the Second Coming. Then, they went through a period where they were quiet and disillusioned. Now, the majority of them unemployed (and never receiving any of the unicorns or stimulus money they believe they were promised), they’re starting to get angry.
What’s KEEPING them from speaking out, from taking to the streets, from having a Network “not going to take it anymore” moment, is the simple fact that they’d have to admit they were wrong first.
And that does not happen in the LGBTQ community. Pride isn’t just a festival at the end of June…it’s the thing that gets most often in the way of rational thinking.
Oprah is key to this roadblock. There should be tee shirts that say, “It’s all Oprah’s fault”, “Oprah’s ‘One’ means we’ve all lost”, etc. Someone out there will think of a really great slogan in this meme, we’re sure.
But, the idea is to give people an out…let them say, “I trusted Oprah and look what her candidate did to the country. I would have never bought into this nonsense if Oprah hadn’t sold it to me, like “The Secret” or Nate Berkus. Oprah did all of this.”
We’re telling you, it would work. Especially in the suburbs.
If not Oprah, then MSNBC.
CNN.
The New York Times.
The entire Mainstream Media.
All of them, collectively, personified in Oprah, sold America a bill of tainted goods for which we are all suffering now.
They should be blamed for all Dr. Utopia has wrought…and in blaming them, many millions of people would suddenly have the freedom and clarity to admit what a colossal mistake 2008 was.
A mistake that needs correcting in 2010.
But that’s only going to happen if Republicans ditch the cocktail parties, leave their yachts, and get engaged in the elections NOW, and not wait until a few months before in 2010, like they usually do.

Did you hear Obama has a plan to nationalize the 2010 elections? http://www.rollcall.com/news/40520-1.html
That article comments on it, but I’m not quite sure what the implications are.
Thanks to Obama, the economy’s in a shambles and will only get worse with his health care bill and cap-and-trade, and all he can do is say, “It’s Bush’s fault.” He has nothing, and all it will do is lead us further down the path of economic ruin.
Seriously, if he gets his health care bill (not only will people go to jail; something Nancy Pelosi thinks is “fair”) and cap-and-trade, I see unemployment topping 25-30%. Easy.
Moreover, did you hear he’s retroactively removing members of the GOP from civil service positions? http://www.redstate.com/erick/2009/11/12/obama-administration-intends-to-purge-republicans-from-the-civil-service/
This guy has no respect for the Constitution!

Ran across this last night – since we’re so far removed from the Chicago area – and the “Machine” – we had no way of knowing that this was going on. This reporter was able to find all of this information in only 3 weeks during 2008 –
http://therealbarackobama.wordpress.com/2008/10/01/evelyn-pringles-operation-board-games-and-curtain-time-for-obama/
There’s lots more on the larger blog -
November 12, 2009 at 10:11 pm
You are right about the Illinois republican party. I am trying to find who are the canidates for the 8th district – Melissa Bean must GO- or where is the district office, email address, phone number, any information at all about the 2010 election. There is plenty on possible senators but nada, zip about the congressional canidates.
November 12, 2009 at 10:14 pm
Definitely 3 good suggestions. It will take that and more to win!
November 12, 2009 at 10:26 pm
Well, Andrew Breitbart is still trying to do something about ACORN. Look at the new post up at Big Government.
http://biggovernment.com/2009/11/12/acorn-the-la-story-part-i/
November 13, 2009 at 1:31 am
The corruption at all levels of government is just shocking. On Beck’s show, I believe Napolitano was saying that it will be up to the Governor of Ca to appoint a special investigator of the Attorney General in Ca. The AG, apparently, is planning to put on a good show and then let ACORN off the hook.
November 13, 2009 at 2:39 am
Sadly, it wouldn’t shock me in the slightest. I live in Ca and sometimes I feel like a fish out of water here.
November 12, 2009 at 10:29 pm
I think “blame Oprah” is a good idea. She not only gave suburban women a reason to vote for a truly substandard candidate, but to make truly substandard books into overnight bestsellers. A double crime in my book. Ruined our country and ruined our minds.
November 12, 2009 at 10:34 pm
Hillbuzz, if I had alot of money, you would have it all! People from another blog I read frequently post links to this site in the threads. You boys are scary rational. You have my vote:-)
November 12, 2009 at 10:37 pm
I am hoping that Tom Ridge (R) runs in 2012. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I believe that he would pick up a lot of the independent voters. They are really the ones that swing elections. What do you guys think ?
November 13, 2009 at 1:52 am
I do not know a lot about Pa politics, but wouldn’t Ridge be a lot like running McCain? He is not very conservative, and I really believe we need someone fiscally disciplined and with high personal integrity to take over the top spot in 2012. I suspect Tom Ridge is steeped pretty heavily in the party machine. (Wasn’t the RNC going ga ga over him when they thought he would run for Specter’s Senate seat?)
November 13, 2009 at 10:43 am
C Mill
You are correct in all that you posted about Tom Ridge. I still do like him. He was good for our state.
I guess that I have to start thinking out of the box and not keep sending the same people back. That is the only way that we will ever get real ” change ”
Thanks for the reality check !!!
November 13, 2009 at 2:27 am
I’m from Pennsylvania and can tell you that while most of us still respect Ridge for his service, running him for any office here would be like dusting off and running Newt Gingrich. He’s yesterday’s news and excites no one. And he knows it because the Country Clubbers tried hard to recruit him to run against Arlen Specter and he told them no. Flat-out.
November 13, 2009 at 11:27 am
Dave
I am really not thrilled by anyone right now. I am hoping that someone emerges.
I agree with you on Tom Ridge, but would support him if he would run.
November 12, 2009 at 10:42 pm
Can I add my suggestion for the “blame” ? With all due respect to Joe Wilson, how about “He lied.”
Because he did. Nothing is as stinging as being lied to your face; feeling used and made a fool of. WOMEN especially feel this. Nobody will ever admit they bought the wrong car, or made a bad career choice (or voted for the ‘wrong’ candidate)…but given the out of feeling they were played…well, that ramps it up even more.
He lied. Add to the signature line of your texts; post it beside your name on Facebook (wait for the pings…who lied???).
Just my thoughts…but I think a great unifier would be a Clinton/Palin ticket (they have more common ground than most appreciate)…followed by a Palin/(Liz)Cheney ticket. The swing conservative is trully every one who has “awakened” meeting in the middle place or slightly right of center. It is all about perspective…
All kinds of fun coming up…The Won is going to the far East! A whole new continent of countries to appologize too!!!
November 12, 2009 at 10:45 pm
It seems an insurmountable task, given the lack of scruples that the modern Democrats display in winning elections.
Most of us who desperately want to change the political geography have jobs, have little resources to affect any change, and have too much respect for ourselves to submit to the taunting and depredations of the lowest common denominator that is our opposition. What do we do?
November 14, 2009 at 12:45 pm
With all due respect Blake, are you f***ing kidding me? This is exactly the kind of whinning the Dems are counting on. We have this MO in the bag.
Now, as someone who waited tables and bartended until they were thirty and finally finished college, built a very nice Interior Design business, quit because I wasn’t “fulfilled,” (however met many wonderful gay instafriends along the way), went back to school for a masters in teaching and now teaches inner city, I refuse to think while sitting on my ass and complaining.
Good business model:
Step 1 – Be positive. Recognize your assets, ok Blake, you and I may work but stay at home moms and dads and old people have plenty of time on their hands. Who do you think are on these tea party buses?
Step 2 – Be positive. Have your state and national representatives, favorite talk radio hosts, and Glenn Beck watchdogs site on speed dial and email contacts.
Step 3 – Be positive. Take a page from our gay friends playbook stop being afraid to admit you are politically conservative, really, conservatives need to come out of the closet and admit who we are thus meeting other closet political conservatives and mobilizing. You wouldn’t believe how many amazing conservatives I have on my school campus I didn’t even know about until last election when we found ourselves congregating and talking in hushed tones. Not anymore, we are loud and proud.
Step 4 – Be positive. Don’t start a new fire, join the one already burning. The website Big Government is really the front line as I know it with all the facts against ACORN. Read their website and tell a few neighbors about it, and then maybe a few friends, get the word out about their activities. Be a volunteer at polling places, it’s free, and be ready to stand up to and report any fraudulent behavior.
Finally, can you say Sarah?
Hope this helps Blake,
Sincerely,
Rain
November 12, 2009 at 10:53 pm
Susan, (I don’t get the reply button when I ‘buzz’ from my phone…so I hope you see this…)
Ridge (former Gov. Of PA) could almost be the “sixth” horseman listed above. He was a good, pragmatic Governor (I live in PA); but he is not fierce, passionate or telegenic…Ridge would do great AGAINST Pawlenty or Jindal; but I think he would be a contrast against the uber slick Romney (Ridge is a Vietnam Vet and he didn’t mess up PA like Romney did–can we say RomneyCare–in Mass); but he lacks Huckabee’s showmanship and charm. But against Utopia and the Skittle poop he slings…Ridge would be Mondalesque.
He is a really great guy…and would be an asset (again) to a Republican or Independent Administration.
November 12, 2009 at 11:50 pm
Mary
I also live in PA, that is why I was hoping that Tom Ridge would run.
When he stated that he would not run for a Senate seat, I was thinking that he may have presidential ambitions.
I will take good and pragmatic any day over uber slick or showmanship. That is what we got in the 2008 election.
I still think ( my opinion ) that he would appeal to a broad range of voters, especially the independents. We lost them in 2008. We need to get them back
I can not believe that you do not think that he is telegenic. He is cut from central casting, very presidential.
November 13, 2009 at 12:12 am
Somebody’s been listening to Smerconish, because that’s precisely what he said about Tom Ridge. ;) I’m also in PA and don’t have a problem with Ridge, but I’d love to see the GOP come up with someone a little less white and a little less male.
And I think I know just the woman for the job…
November 13, 2009 at 12:27 am
Melissa
You caught me. I do listen to Smerconish.
Who would be the women???
Who be be the little less white ???
We do not have many that could garner widespread support.
November 13, 2009 at 12:41 am
Melissa
How about Condi Rice ???
November 13, 2009 at 10:28 am
PLUS There’s some baggage. Remember, he was the first Homeland Security Secretary with the color coded threat levels.
Heck, even I was embarrassed (after laughed my ass off) when DHS recomended duct-taping plastic over your windows and doors in case of a bio attack. Great idea-if you wanted to suffocate in your own house.
I like Ridge, but he’s too easy a target with stuff like that.

I asked Louis ( down post ) if he was holding the color coding against him.
I can live with baggage like that.
November 12, 2009 at 11:05 pm
I’d buy an “It’s Oprah’s fault” T-shirt. I hope someone starts making them. We can create a zeitgeist against Dr. Utopia the way it was used to marginalize GW and Palin. Only in our case it’ll be the truth.
November 12, 2009 at 11:10 pm
In my moment of deepest despair, I saw your blog yesterday about the Bush family. It helps to know there are sane Americans on both sides that know fair play and understand what is happening to our country.
Like you , I grew up in Chicago and worked against the old Daley Machine for 10 years. I was even 1 of the delegates that threw out those Chicago delegates at the 72 Dem Convention. I gave up trying to fight the massive vote fraud and moved to the suburbs for this specific reason. I commend you for defending democracy and fair elections even above partisan politics. And thank you so much for your remarks yesterday.
November 12, 2009 at 11:22 pm
Oh, no. Not Tom Ridge. For reasons too numerous to mention, NOT TOM RIDGE!
I too would buy an “It’s Oprah’s fault” t-shirt. It sings…
November 12, 2009 at 11:56 pm
Louis
I am from PA. He did a good job with this state. Are you holding the color coding against him ???? LOL
November 13, 2009 at 10:35 am
I’m from Philadelphia, I voted for him for Gov and YES I DO!!!
November 13, 2009 at 11:36 am

It would appear from other
posters that he would not excite anyone, except maybe us two.
November 12, 2009 at 11:33 pm
I think Romney would make a better veep candidate than front man for 2012. He doesn’t come across well in the primary debates, but he is a smart guy who could lend weight to an economic policy.
Huckabee has been gaining a lot of cred and respect from his weekly show on Fox. He’s likable, and I don’t think the 2012 election will end up being about religion. I think there *might* be a chance that his formerly “radical” flat tax idea will be very attractive in 2012, because the economic arguments behind it are enormous. But that could easily be seen as a “crazy” idea that could sink his chances. Plus the CPAs would could out of the woodwork to campaign against him to save their own jobs.
I think Palin could have a serious chance. Formerly, one of the biggest criticisms against her for 2012 is that she’s weak on foreign policy… but after Obama’s limp wristed approach to terrorism and his deplorable handling of Afghanistan, I think a monkey will look better on foreign policy than Obama.
November 13, 2009 at 12:16 am
EricP
Sarah Palin has a lot of support with the base of the party. I do not know if she has enough support to carry the ticket or gather any independents. I think if she was the
GOP pick, it would guarantee another four years for President Obama. It makes me sad to say that, but I am trying to look at the whole landscape for 2012.
November 13, 2009 at 2:13 am
Your comment about Palin’s inability to gather independents is interesting, because I believe there are a lot of independents and Democrats at this site alone that ardently support her.
November 13, 2009 at 12:00 pm
C Mill
I am new to this site. I was not aware of the many Democrate and Independent posters that support
Sarah Palin. Amoungst my Democrate friends, she is not very popular. My Independent friends are split. Many view her as not very bright.
November 14, 2009 at 1:46 pm
You definitely have a point on the average independent and democrat. If I think about democrats that I know personally, they think Palin is dumb and haven’t the slightest idea why anyone would support her. I spend so much time looking at conservative and PUMA websites that I get my own perspective altered, so touche on reality checks!
One of the recent Gallup polls said (I think) 85% of R’s agree with Palin on policy and 49% of I’s. Percentage of D’s was way low, but I think the Independent number was pretty good, considering the state controlled media has maligned her so much. If she can get around the media and get her message out, I think the Indie number will go way up. She has used Facebook masterfully so far, and has nearly 1 million “friends”. Plus, the average American who is paying attention is putting less and less trust in prior MSM, so I believe it will be harder for the media to choose the president next time around, especially if they continue to call terrorist killers “alleged gunman”.
November 13, 2009 at 2:26 am
I think by the time the election cycle rolls around, the GOP politicians will be clamoring to prove they are “true” conservatives, because the base of the GOP is/has been abandoning it’s progressive, big-spending, big government leaders for the last 10 years… and are now doing so at a massive rate.
The conservative reckoning is coming. The GOP will either recognize it, or a third party will arise. I predict the GOP will recognize it and re-invent itself, though I’m not yet convinced that Steele is the man to do that. I know he’s a good guy and seems passionate, but I fear he might lack the charisma and clout to bring the “old guard” Republicans (who’ve moved consistently left over the years) back to the true base of the party.
Ultimately, 2012 will probably go down as the biggest referendum against progressive liberalism, big government, and irresponsible since Jimmy Carter. It will be known as a “people’s election”. The groundswell is building. The more legislation Obama and his gang passes, the faster the groundswell will build. The less legislation he passes, the more disenchanted his supporters will become, meaning they won’t be energized to vote for him come 2012.
Of course, I personally believe there will be at least one major terrorism or foreign policy debacle that will be unequivocally pinned on Obama’s head. Given his sharp departure from Bush’s strategies, any terrorist attack on the country will cause people to doubt his policies or even blame him for the attack. Likewise, a major foreign policy problem, like Iran getting a nuke, North Korea attacking South Korea, China crushing Tibet, Russia moving on Georgia, etc. will make Obama look extremely weak (which he is).
And perhaps the final straw will be the continual uncovering of Marxist/Socialist/Communist Mao-worshipper-esque figures in Obama’s inner circle. Independents will be itching for a straightforward, trustworthy, honest, REAL leader to bring this country out of what may be our darkest hour.
November 13, 2009 at 3:10 am
I highly suggest people learn the lesson from the last election of appearences and start knowing who they’re propping up…How about you??

Trust me, Huckabee would be WAY too polarizing to the moderates in the LGBTQ community (as well as the feminists). He went to school at Southwestern Baptist Seminary here in Fort Worth, and I am here to tell you, a less tolerant group of people you will never meet (they wouldn’t let a female teach courses on giving sermons, because women aren’t ALLOWED to be preachers…..). That campus is Southern Baptist on steroids!
Mr. Huckabee may well be a very nice man, but he reminds me of every Baptist preacher that I have ever run across here in Texas – repressed, intolerant, and contemptuous of women.
I’m not LGBT or Q, and I’m a lifelong Methodist, so there’s no underlying animus here. I just know Huckabee’s “type”, ‘cuz they’re a dime a dozen in this neck of the woods. He would “crash” the ticket. Avoid at ALL COSTS!!!!!!

HB: you guys totally rock the vote. May I say, both brands need to engage in some serious inward house cleaning. The GOP yachting and golfing Gingrich-Scuzzyfavors types had better have gotten a clue, that the Independents are going to rock the next elections. As the unemployment rate creeps to untenable levels, from the voters perspective, watch out. Also, a humble accountant from upstate New York just lit a torch under for those who do not dine out at richy golf clubs, but take their dinner on the run to and from their jobs. A torch of humility that has not been lost on the electorate, who are reaching the point where they see this demented beltway mob will be cured. ACORN must be relentlessly exposed and the facts of the election fraud of 2008 repeated over and over so it is not swept under the rug.

The 2010 elections will be okay but 2012 will be fraud driven as the Magic Negro will be on the ballot and all the idiots will come out voting.

November 13, 2009 at 12:58 am
I vote, “He ain’t The One, Oprah,” at #17!
The good news is that I’m not sure I’ve ever met a yacht owning Republican at a Tea Party. There are just a whole lot of people who’ve never been to a political cocktail party with fire-in-the-belly at this point. The bad news is that they also don’t have a clue how to stop the DNC/ACORN/Sorros machine, especially as busy as so many are working hard, raising families and serving their communities (in non-political, non self-serving ways, no less).
Regarding the 2012 non-Democratic Presidential candidate, you know what? I’m sick of hearing, “Yes, Sarah Palin is a charismatic, principled conservative, who took on corruption in her own party, restored common sense and responsibility to government, and is wildly adored by many, BUT…” So we need to settle for lackluster candidate because we’re afraid to take a risk? And conventional “wisdom” has gotten the GOP exactly where in recent years? Stand UP and give something wild a try, shall we? Maybe she won’t be the best candidate, but I’m done going with, “Oh well, he’s wishy washy, but at least he’s less controversial,” that’s for sure.
November 13, 2009 at 2:37 am
Most republicans I know aren’t wealthy either. I married into a military family and many military people hold good old fashioned conservative values– and there aren’t a lot of yacht owners in that group.
I agree on Palin too. At some point we need to say we actually stand for something– and mean it.
November 13, 2009 at 9:40 am
If Palin– or someone like her in the important things– did run, and the large number of people who said, “I’d vote for her except she has no chance of election,” actually voted for her anyway… um, maybe she’d have a chance of winning!
November 14, 2009 at 12:57 pm
Cheers, to Sarah.

Bravo, you are definitely right about the secretary of state candidates. Check out this guy who has just decided to run for CA’s secretary of state:

Jerry (Moonbeam) Brown, CA AG needs to be investigated for possibly telling ACORN he would protect them.

Thank you so much. I’m sending the link to my hubby, who is an active member of the local GOP. A lot of us on the right are trying to figure out how to deal with the fact that the GOP has failed us time and again. Most of us are like you. We’re not interested in electing a brand, but a person with good character and sound principles.

Call me crazy, but I’m still harboring the hope that Dick Cheney is healthy enough to run in 2012 and can be persuaded to run…I think he would flush Barokeydoke Hubris Obozo down history’s political toilet where he belongs.

Bottom line: the powerful NEVER give up their power; their time must run its course. There are three things that all American peasants should focus on:
1) Prepare your hearts and minds to stand through the hell that is coming.
2) Prepare your family by teaching them that they must stop their love relationship with the news media aka propaganda. Teach them to research, think, and develop their own opinions.
3) Seek God and ask for the wisdom and understanding to remain strong and help others during the coming chaos. Bible – James 3:7-18

For any of the Who fans out there:
“Sorry Oprah, we won’t be fooled again.”
Some Republican bigwigs need to fund a group of independents to begin the “We won’t be fooled again” campaign. If they are independents, they might even have a chance to get the rights to the song. (We all know that only country and western artists will allow Republicans to use their songs. The rest throw a fit.)
BTW, the RNC needs to remind America of Obama’s debate/campaign promise to use a “scalpel” to fix the country’s problems, when instead he’s used a chainsaw to hack-up the banking industry, auto industry, today the health industry and tomorrow who knows? How about a cartoon image of the Mad Dr. Utopia in surgical garb with a chainsaw cutting away at America?

Shades of hope! It’s happening. The Continental Congress 2009 is in session and we may well be able to remove the anointed one and his co-conspirators before 2012. I would suggest dropping them all off, along with George Soros, onto Devils Island. Strip them of all communication to the outside world and just make food and clothing drops once a month.

The problem the GOP faces is our victim mentality society. In an attempt to avoid being slapped with lables like racist, homophobe, misogynist, and bigot it has been sending high school junior varsety players out in a Pac-10 (or Big 10) game. And then, when those, usually false, charges come anyway, not taking them on and directly refuting them. If all you are doing is a duck and cover drill then,
1.) it makes you seem guilty because you don’t refute the charges
and
2.) you are too busy taking cover to attack. Damned hard to shoot from behind behind the tree.
Although for the 2010 midterms, the smart thing to do might just be nothing. Stand there, wave your hand gesturing to the barren landscape and say “Behold what the Democrats have wrought.” And gain some seats in both houses of Congress.
I can’t see Palin as a viable candidate in 2012. I want to, but I can’t quite do it. By resigning as gov. of Alaska, she has given too much ammo to the Dems. In our sound bite society, were nothing over 15 seconds can hold the attention of the average voter, all that the Dems have to do is tax her with “She Quit then when things got tough.” And, hells bells, they could rerun the SNL parody of her and again people would think it was really her saying those things.
As much as it galls me to say it, mostly because of her drinking the ‘gunz-r-bad’ Flavor Aid, I wouldn’t mind seeing Hillary. She is a true neo-conservative – basically a pragmatic leftist (I forget who defined them as leftists who have been mugged). I wouldn’t mind seeing Tom McClintock (R-CA 4th) run either.
November 13, 2009 at 9:25 am
I should add – I think that in 2010 the Dems will be doing like they did in 2008 and campaign against Pres. Bush. They won’t MoveOn from that.
EricP wrote: “Of course, I personally believe there will be at least one major terrorism or foreign policy debacle that will be unequivocally pinned on Obama’s head. Given his sharp departure from Bush’s strategies, any terrorist attack on the country will cause people to doubt his policies or even blame him for the attack.”
I think that anything like that that happens before early 2012 he will be able to pass of as {“It’s Bushes’ fault” because of this, that, or the other and people will buy it. It will take more than 3 years for the 8 years of anti-Bush brainwashing to wear off.
November 13, 2009 at 2:17 pm
If Obama had continued the same Bush policies towards:
1) Muslims in general
2) Security in general
3) Interrogations
4) Pressing the conflicts in foreign countries instead of dithering
5) Calling Terrorism “Terroris” instead of Man Caused Disasters
6) Referring to the War on Terrorism as such, instead of “Overseas Contingency Operation”
7) Taking a hard line with Iran
8) Providing unwavering support to Israel
then I might say you’re right.
Too many Bush policies have been modified, removed, destroyed, and/or attacked — very publicly (think, CIA interrogations) — for Obama to NOT own another terrorist attack.
Proof?
The Fort Hood thing… nobody will call it terrorism, even though it clearly was a case of domestic terrorism. The most we can get out of the liberal hacks on TV is that maybe we need to re-define what terrorism is to make sure it DOESN’T include stuff like Fort Hood.
Why else would they be doing that except the absolute fear that Obama’s presidency already has a black mark of terrorism on it? And CLEARLY the reason this was allowed to happen is all the namby-pamby, politically correct concerns of “upsetting” Muslims by taking action against a possible Muslim terrorist in our own army. And now 13 people (14 if you count the pregnant mother’s unborn child) are dead, and many more wounded. That statistic may not belong solely to Obama, but his own attitudes towards Muslims certainly mirror the approach the Army and CIA took with Maj. Hasan. Weak, fearful, defeated.
If our own army isn’t safe from terrorism, how can WE be safe from it?
November 13, 2009 at 10:14 am
From your article the most important fact I heard was that all of the independents need to pick a party so that they can vote in the primaries or caucases. This will be extremely important! Expecially if the Dems switch to Repubs and try to swing the primaries. My husband is an independant and for the most part always votes R. We need to question our friends and neighbors and start getting them to pick a party soon.
November 13, 2009 at 11:12 am
In many ways you are right, when it comes to the Republican party elites. However one thing you might not be seeing nor aware of , the bulk of the party is made up of employees of small businesses.
These folks work ungodly hours, for the most part their jobs are not 9 to 5, at the same time they make above average wages and reap wonderful benefits one would never see in a union or government job.
What I’m getting at is they generally do not have the time. Times are a changing though. Spouses of these heart and soul of the GOP are making the time . Trust me when I say you will not have to worry about compliancy within the conservative movement simply because the damage that has been done to date has been so severe the 2010 and the 2012 elections are at the for front of their minds.
If I can be allowed to be a little winded here. I own a small business that only does business with other small businesses. Let me give you a little back ground so you can understand what I see happening. We sell a product and service that 90% of our clients finance typically. Over the last 16 years we could expect a 10% decline in credit and a less than 10% cash conversion on those declines. A little more than a year ago we had 24 employees. Then came October with the banks collapsing. At first things remained stable.
Being concerned I contacted all our funding companies some we have been using for over a decade .
They all assured me there would be no problems with funding because they were not banks.
Then came the election, folks one thing you must know is over 85% of all small business owners black or white male or female are Republicans and when Obama won it was like Nov-Dec 2000 all over again they closed their wallets. Of course this always happens just before the Jan-Feb slow times so the pinch is twice as bad. When things started to thaw on the buyer end, but the world had changed on the funding side. When Obamas stimulus package hit with all the money for the banks all of our privet funding companies quickly converted to becoming a bank. Accepting the money they now had to function under the new rules being applied by the WH. Approvals went from 90% to 25% out of desperation Margins had to fall to increase cash conversions from 10% to 80% which was a God send however with much smaller margins many people had to be let ago actually 19 in all.
Now some might say well those people should have been declined in the first place we were over extending credit. Wrong let me make this very clear in over 16 in this business our clients default rate was less than 1%.. Our funding companies would reach to approve contracts simply because their actuaries would tell them they are not maximizing their profit until they are at a 4% default rate.
I believe one reason why our clients did so well was because our products improved their bottom line increasing profits while protecting their business investments. That being said we started seeing people with credit score of over 750 being declined, for the strangest of reason, maybe it was the type of industry they were in or they were 30 days late 4 years ago on a mortgage. Just things you never seen in the past. When I confronted several funding companies about these declines I was given an answer that scared me. There is just no money to loan to small businesses for anything other than inventory or property. That they are being instructed to find reasons not to approve capital funding.
Folks in all my 26 years of doing business in the privet sector I have never ever seen things this bad.
We are not even close to the bottom.
And it is this that will keep the people from getting complacent!
November 13, 2009 at 3:52 pm
I said before the 2008 election that if Obama got in with a Democrat majority in both houses of Congress that the net result would be the death of Liberalism. I said that because I knew what those people are all about and I knew what they were going to do. Many times I warned in the starkest terms to friends and co-workers what damage they would do only to be patted on the head, chuckled at and told to “get over it.” Well, I was right. No, 2010 and 2012 are unlikely to be Democrat years, and precisely because there will be-it’s really already begun-a huge backlash against nanny-state socialism. Just like the forces that brought Margaret Thatcher to power in Great Britain in 1979, so will be our elections of 2010 and 2012. And don’t forget another thing about Obama – the press created him, and they can bloody well destroy him if they so choose. The Republicans will need a candidate who has Reagan-like credibility as a secular conservative and people believe that person when that person says “this is where I stand.” Is Sarah Palin that person? Maybe, it’s kinda too soon to tell, but if not her then someone like her. As for HIllary Clinton, start a betting pool of when she can no longer take this crap and resigns as Secretary of State – she really doesn’t need the job and it’s doing her more harm than good.

Gay Dem McCain voter here who feels better and better about his 2008 vote with each passing day. NOTE: I was with him in the primaries and never on board with Hillary, just so you know….
Obama will costs the Dems the House in 2010 and perhaps untold damage down ballot.
Ridge in 2012? I’ve heard of worse ideas. Who else is on the list? Palin? Puh-lease!
I still find the idea of the modern day GOP to still be particularly noxious, but my old party is hopped up on Hope. No future, no future…

Hillbuzz,
Wonderful ideas; however, I think that the reason that Republicans/Conservatives don’t spend as long on the campaigning/vetting candidates process is because we don’t have to spend as much time “crafting” the candidates’ image. In other words, most of our candidates don’t have that many skeletons in their closets, and they are basically honest people (in that they aren’t usually spending time associating with criminals and thugs).
For that reason, it never enters most (R)/(C)s’ minds that a candidate or an election process would be corrupt. Yes, there might be some minor shenanigans going on with the odd contest here and there, but for the most part, the people associated with these campaigns would never even THINK to do something underhanded.
In that respect, we are going to need a LOT of instruction from those of you who have seen these things first-hand to tell us what to look for. Believe me, there are an AWFUL LOT of folks on our “side” who are smart enough to figure out how to prevent these types of things from happening; we just have to know what it is that we need to guard against.
