For some reason, there are many of you who don’t know what an Open Thread means. There’s one posted every day, and that’s where you can put links to things you think are interesting. You can also email them to us, though we get a lot of spam each day so that’s not the fastest way to see something.
Every once in a while there’s something in the MSM that gets a lot of you worked up — and so you post it and post it again all over the place, in threads that have nothing at all to do with whatever you are talking about. It would be really nice if you’d use the Open Threads for random things…especially things the MSM is pushing for no particular reason. The American media likes to invent stories using as few facts as possible, just to amuse themselves. That’s basically what we do here, too, but we’re not professional journalists, but just a bunch of guys in Boystown who try to amuse ourselves and others each day.
A great example of the MSM inventing things is the story from Monday generated by Hillary Clinton’s appearance on the Today Show.
Hillary Clinton, for those of you who don’t know, is the current Secretary of State of the United States in a Democratic Administration.
For those of you who also don’t know, the current president still believes he not only can win a second term, but that it is mandated by Zeus himself and all the mighty Olympians that he has already been awarded that second term (at the conclusion of which Dr. Utopia will be raised up into the Heavens, Hercules-style, to become a constellation of burning gas in the firmament).
No Democrat would ever answer a question on the Today Show like “will you run for president again” with anything but a no.
There is absolutely no advantage to Clinton in saying anything but no at this point.
It is too far before 2012, and much too far before 2016.
Do you even hear any Republicans talking about 2012 or 2016? Nope. When asked about future presidential runs, they say no.
Hillary Clinton will run for and win the presidency at some point in the future. She kept saying she wasn’t running for president in 2004, 2005, 2006, and right up until February or so of 2007.
There are some of you out there who seem like you belong in that little Vermont town that Newhart was set in…where people believed everything the TV told them, and ran around terrified the sky was falling every time it snowed or rained. We shudder to think of what you will do when the Roland Emmerich disaster movie 2012 is released soon — we hate to think you will live in terror of the Mayan calendar ending, and taking the world with it, for the next three years. You are probably the same people who trembled in your basements for weeks surrounded by crates of bottled water and dried Mac & Cheese waiting for the world to end with Y2K as well.
There has to be a point where you start stepping back and asking if maybe CNN, NBC, and other MSM outlets take something and make it into a bigger deal than it is knowing you will run around like Chicken Little making a bigger deal of it than it really is.
Because just as it was frustrating for Bob Newhart to stand behind the desk at the Stratford Inn and watch the townsfolk overreact to things and carry on the way they did — it’s frustrating for us to see the same ridiculous article posted over and over again in multiple threads saying Hillary Clinton will never run for president again, when that’s all this woman has been doing since the age of 5.
What does she get out of never running again?
Does she REALLY strike you as someone who wants to retire and do nothing all day?
If she’s always been pegged as an 11th dimensional chess champion whose hobbies are plotting and scheming, then why does she suddenly want to stop now?
She will run again, but the operative question is when.
******
Here’s another article from RealClearPolitics saying exactly what we said: everything Hillary Clinton does is more preparation for a second presidential run. She is the second most high profile Democrat out there. The author of this piece assumes Dr. Utopia has a second term in the bag — which we disagree with. There is no way Republicans sit 2012 out and let this man have a second term…and there’s no way screaming RAAACIST! at people will work ever again to bully them into either voting for him or staying away from the polls. The only way Republicans lose in 2012 is by nominating Bobby Jindal, Charlie Crist, Mitt Romney, or Tim Pawlenty, the way the MSM wants.
But, the article agrees that Joe Biden won’t win the nomination in 2016. If he even runs for it.
There are ageists out there who claim a 69 year old Clinton would be too old. Have you seen Hillary’s mother Dorothy Rodham. The woman is in her 70s/80s and is a FIRECRACKER. One of our favorite people we met on the campaign trail. Hillary Clinton is a very young 61. She will be a very young 65 or 69, whenever she runs for president again.
And she will run.
October 13, 2009 at 10:59 am
This woman is no quitter. Of course she will run again. I sure as hell wish she was in the White House rather than the huge joke that’s living there right now.
Of course she’s going to say “no” to such a stupid question. Why even ask it? Are the media monkeys getting tired of their messiah already?
October 13, 2009 at 10:59 am
Whether or not Hillary would be a good president, if she were elected, wouldn’t she bring in a lot of the same people now serving under Obama (just as he brought in a lot of the people that served under Bill)? These are not some of the brightest lights in the world, and if these are the best that the Democratic machine has to offer, we’re in trouble. No president exists in a vacuum, and after her “vast right wing conspiracy” comments, do we really think she’d reach much across the aisle, especially if she took on and defeated Obama? That would be Democratic civil war, and she’d have lots of anger to quell and bristling hackles to smooth. Setting Hillary herself aside, it would just be another Democratic administration with the same sad faces we have now. Sorry, guys, that’s just not good enough.
October 13, 2009 at 11:31 am
NO Hillary would not surround herself with the same people Obama has. As for would she work across the isle, I guess you weren’t paying much attention to her when she was Senator, if she could and did work well with the people that impeached Bill, it should be obvious she could/work with anyone.
AS for there being a Democratic war, there already is, Thanks to Obama and his supporters who lied cheated and stole the election for him. I couldn’t believe ANYONE could fall for Obama would be the great Uniter, when he divided the Demacrats
BTW Great post HB, reminds me alot of the ones to the Eeyores.
October 13, 2009 at 7:47 pm
That is exactly what I was going to write. But I will add that it will be difficult to get any Dem elected after this fright fest is over. He’ll never win a second term. The damage is done, and he’ll never get nearly as many people to vote for him again. Fooled them once shame on them………
I honestly agree that the Rep should win in 2012 unless of course it’s Jindal or some other wet rag. Palin needs to get the nomination. She is gonna need to start the fight in Iowa real soon!!
October 13, 2009 at 11:07 am
agreed….the operative question is when….
October 13, 2009 at 11:37 am
I would love to see her run again. I just don’t know if the DNC will allow her to beat Obama for the nomination. I say it that way because she CAN beat him, she did last time but Obama cheated to get the nomination and I am afraid he will pull out all stops to do it again with the help of the DNC.
I think she just might be telling the truth. Chelsea will most likely have kids by then and maybe Bill and Hillary just want to hit the speaking circuit and play with their grandkids. I would hardly call that quitting. They deserve it.
Besides, I am wondering if Bill and Hillary both are setting aside their ambitions to groom Chelsea for a political office. Parents tend to do that when they have raised an extraordinary child and Chelsea is just that.
I can’t decide. I do agree that she would never admit it on the today show but I am not convinced that maybe her plans are different.

Bravo, buzz.

yrpper.her army awaits the call
October 13, 2009 at 5:17 pm
BEEN WAITING!!!!!
October 13, 2009 at 12:33 pm
I’m glad you didn’t put a year on when she would run again because I am in the camp that she will not primary Obama in 2012. Two reasons:
1. She won’t get the AA vote in the primaries
2. She won’t get the progressive left vote (Kos, Americablog, Huffpost), and these activists are vital in the primaries.
I know Hillary is shrewd and she thinks before she throws her hat into the ring. She is not going to waste money and time at something she won’t win.
The AA’s are with Obama until the end. They will not leave him regardless of how terrible of a job he is doing or does. And as the people start to turn on him in these next few years, the AA community’s support will be even stronger for him.
The progressive left are livid at Obama for breaking his promises, but they are so ideological that this bloc of voters would rather sit it out than vote for someone they regard as part of the establishment. It was one reason why they were so adamantly against Hillary in the first place. Their chant of “anyone but Hillary” was real; they hate the DLC and they despise the Clinton’s. I think this group doesn’t show up in 2012, or they back someone like Howard Dean, if he decides to primary Obama.
So without those two very critical voting blocs in the primary, I think Hillary realizes she can’t beat him.
Or can she? Can she win the primaries without the AA and progressive left?
Now, 2016? That may be her goal.
October 13, 2009 at 12:59 pm
She ended up with MORE votes than Obama with out them in the last primary and I am sure she would get a large percentage of the voters that picked Obama and are seeing they were wrong. Maybe she wouldn’t get the real delusional Bots who still think Obama’s it The One, but alot of the people that hoped he would do what he promised and weren’t part of the crazy cult would vote for her. I know alot of people that voted for Obama because their union told them he would be the best choice are quite angry at their union and already wish they voted for Hillary last time.
I’m still thinking Obams numbers willl be so awful in 2 years he will decide not to run for “health reasons”
October 13, 2009 at 1:28 pm
True. And even with more votes than Obama, she still didn’t get the nomination because the damned Super Delegates sided with him. And that will happen again. The Supers aren’t going to leave him (see Jimmy Carter vs Ted Kennedy)and she’ll be in the same position again.
It’s the way the Dems run their primary – no winner take all. The Supers will once again throw their support behind Obama because they don’t want to alienate the AA vote.
This is why I still hold fast that she is not running in 2012. She’s already been beaten up badly in the ‘08 race, which left her deep in debt, and she’s not going to go through that again; against Obama, a guy who plays extremely dirty.
2016, I can probably see. But not 2012.
October 13, 2009 at 2:08 pm
Obama became the DNC in Chicago and held all the money coming in and out. That was the way he “bribed” many of the supers to vote for him – threatened to withhold funding from their campaigns. They were all strong-armed in one way or the other. Mr. “Different Kind of Politician” was/is really jsut an old-style thug and mobster after all.
October 13, 2009 at 2:16 pm
Plus don’t forget all the AA super D’s were threatend if they didn’t back Obama and they would make sure to have other AAs run against them so they would lose their seats and other threats.
October 13, 2009 at 6:35 pm
Also the SDs didn’t make as much difference as the DNC STEALING Hillary’s delegates and giving them to Barky along with giving Obama delegates from the states he didn’t even run in.
October 13, 2009 at 12:40 pm
Do you mean that the world isn’t going to end in 2012??? ;0
October 13, 2009 at 12:53 pm
SHE is working for the best interests of OUR Country, if she didn’t take SOS would you rather Kerry or Richardson?
October 13, 2009 at 3:13 pm
thanks for your thoughts on this hillbuzz..
the media just loves to put Hil in a box, wrap her up, and put her on the shelf. She said no 3 times so thats that.
Stupid media.
Hil and Bill are soooo smart, I’ll just sit back and watch these 2 smarties let things play out- We sure could use a real (true) LEADER again.
Marginalize schmarginalize -this gal is the sharpest tack in the box, and can play “them” better than anyone.
rise Hillary rise
October 13, 2009 at 3:49 pm
I thought it was awful that all the media wanted to focus on was that Hillary was not going to run for prez again. They deprived people of the opportunity to hear the stories of her actual work as SOS, stories that would inspire people, that would make people feel proud to be an American. People should visit the SOS website and read the foreign press like the BBC and the Guardian because the actual concrete things she has accomplished in the way of peace treaties, womens rights, gay rights, diplomacy between countries is astounding.
The US press does us a real disservice by keeping these stories from us and focusing on the trivial and stupid. Hillary Clinton has not been marginalized at all, despite the best efforts of the US media.
October 13, 2009 at 7:55 pm
You’re right. The only people marginalizing Hillary are the msm. Old habits die hard, I guess.
October 13, 2009 at 5:53 pm
Unfortunately, Hillary is to Barack Hussein as Bayezid was to Tamerlane Likewise, Hillary’s iron cage imprisonment is her titular Secretary of State position (she is intentionally kept on a tight leash by ObaMao’s VP [Doltin' Joe] and court of special emissaries):
“In 1400, the Central Asian warlord Timur Lenk (or Tamerlane) had succeeded in rousing the local Turkic beyliks that had been vassals of the Ottomans to join him in his attack on Bayezid. In the fateful Battle of Ankara, on 20 July 1402, Bayezid was captured by Timur. Some contemporary reports claimed that Timur kept Bayezid chained in a cage as a trophy. Likewise, there are many stories about Bayezid’s captivity, including one that describes how Timur used him as a footstool. However, writers from Timur’s court reported that Bayezid was treated well, and that Timur even mourned his death. One year later, Bayezid died — some accounts claim that he committed suicide by smashing his head against the iron bars of his cage.”
October 13, 2009 at 5:58 pm
Evening all. I think she’ll take a run in 2012 as I suspect that 2016 will see her without the support she could command now.
I’ve said before that she will probably resign as SecState within 6 months citing policy issues with Obama. It will be cordial as far as politics can be, but then she’ll start to fire up the machine (and make overtures to the people that abandoned her for Obama as I’m sure they have buyer’s remorse by now).
I also think that Sarah Palin will make a run in 2012 which should make for a great race.
October 13, 2009 at 6:47 pm
Sarah will be just 48 in 2012. Still incredibly beautiful, young and energetic. The day she clinches the GOP nomination will be so historic and the situation in the world so chaotic, 12% unemployment, ACORN out of the fight, Obama might need to pray to Allah to stay in power.
October 13, 2009 at 6:41 pm
Hillary is not going to run again. She will probably stay as SOS past 2011 and even support the false messiah in 2012 against Palin. The way the Clintons bow down to Obama makes think they will not challenge him.
I think Sarah Palin will beat the crap out of those three stoogies in 2012. Sarah is gathering an incredible conservative support. When Iran detonates its first nuke, Israel starts atatcking and the world be all messed up thanks to Obama, gas prices skyrocket to 5 dollars per gallon
Hillary might want to join Sarah against the false messiah. That is a big possibility. But Hillary running again no, and winning the presidency at 69 a big NO.
October 13, 2009 at 7:29 pm
I have to disagree Carmelo. While it’s usual for an incumbant president to get the nomination by acclamation I think this is different. The only thing that Obama will hold is the extreme left wing of the Dem’s. The regular centre left (and for that matter the left) of the Democratic party will be looking for another port in the 2012 storm and the only one I see that has the political chops is Hillary. I think she knows that too. Don’t underestimate the number of Dem’s that now really wish they had not voted for Obama.
October 13, 2009 at 8:04 pm
Honestly Junior, you are a blowhard. Every time someone talks shit about Hillary here at Hillbuzz we know your looking for a battle. There are many Hillary supporters here who voted for Sarah in 08. We are Dems, and have never trashed Palin for being a conservative, as a matter of fact, we will back her again. We never refer to her as a stooge, even though many out there do. If you expect to help Sarah win in 2012 I suggest you not alienate us Indy’s and Dems by making ignorant remarks about Hillary.
October 13, 2009 at 8:45 pm
Thank you, some people never learn.
October 14, 2009 at 8:12 pm
Sorry Michl!
Let’s unite for the big objective which is to take down those marxists corrupted people starting by Pelosi and Reid in 2010
October 14, 2009 at 9:14 pm
Exactly my point. Sorry back. We don’t need any in fighting now, united is the only way we win.
October 13, 2009 at 6:51 pm
I don’t think she will have to wait until 2012.I think she will be in the WH before that, just my thoughts.
October 13, 2009 at 7:06 pm
The major thing to keep in mind is that race trumps gender in the identity politics game. Live by identity politics, die by identity politics. Too bad, so sad.
October 13, 2009 at 7:12 pm
Ok…here is my two cents.
I have posted (on HB and elsewhere) that Hillary is the finger in the leaky dike at State…holding back AGAINST the Obamaites totally dismantleing US foreign policy and US safety.
I would hope, that after the attempts to ‘put her in her place’ at State (the idiotic ‘reset’ button Russian fiasco) that Hill learned to fly beneath the radar (not too uppity) and get things ‘done.’ Things that she can point out to the voting public (after more and more and then even more) apologies, retractions, debacles and basic total and complete screw ups by The Won.
Could Hillary’s ‘congratulations’ on the Peas Prize been any more, well…vague. Kinda like saying, but not saying, ‘geez, why didn’t you turn it down?’
October 13, 2009 at 7:50 pm
Shout out to all the Eyores:Hell yes our girl’s gonna run. When we Pumas get the call we are there right along with the HillBuzz boyz.Settin’on ready and waitin’on go.Go Hillary Go!
October 13, 2009 at 8:51 pm
I am with those who rule out 2012, because:
a) incumbent presidents have been challenged but never defeated in the primaries;
b) HRC, as an administration official, is out of politics now. She would have to resign before running, and would have to do so around November 2011;
c) such a step would be an implicit admission that the obomber administration, to which she has contributed greatly, has been a failure.
I agree with HB that the Repugs will win in 2012, perhaps with Palin heading the ticket. It is quite possible that Palin would ask HRC to stay on as Secretary of State, as obomber did with Gates at Defense.
That leaves the path open for 2015 when, after 7 successful years as SoS for two presidents of opposite parties, HRC could resign and then run again for POTUS.
One of the commenters said above that HRC’s appeal to the public would wear off by 2015, but I don’t think this will be the case. HRC was out of the limelight for 7 years as Senator. Nobody heard anything about her since she had been First Lady. Then she embarked on her exploratory campaign in Jan 07 and the sparkle was still there.
This time, she can’t keep her head down as she could when Senator from NY. She’s frequently in the news, people are wondering if she’s being marginalized, if she’ll run for pres again, people hear of her trips around the world and her actions carry weight.
She doesn’t ask for publicity, but gets it anyway because it’s part of the job. A press corps follows her around and she’s reported on daily. I have a google alert out for HRC and get a regular 8 or 10 articles a day from US and foreign papers, and consult Hillary Web sites where still other articles are brought up. These Web sites did not exist when she was Senator. She’s still in demand on TV.
As obomber’s star continues to fall, hers is still higher than ever, and the favorable appreciation of her is bipartisan.
As Bill said after her concession speech on 6 June 08, he was infinitely proud of Hillary because she had transformed from being a political figure to become a political FORCE. As long as she keeps going as she is now and always has, that force will never die.
October 13, 2009 at 10:42 pm
Ya know what would send the radical left into mass suicide? If Hillary endorsed Sarah Palin in the 2012 general election just to kick Obama’s ass!
OMG I would love that. Especially IF she did not want to run again, might as well go out with a victory destroying the messiah! LOL
Far fetched, YES, but boy would I love that.
October 13, 2009 at 11:01 pm
For the record, Dorothy Rodham is not in her 70s/80s. She is ninety years old.
As for 2012, I am hoping Obama resigns in disgrace a la Nixon. Heaven knows there are enough scandals that could do it if only there was still such a thing as journalism in this country.

I think I have to dissent and take Hillary at her word. She is looking tired on these trips overseas. She is finally showing some age. I think she really does want to retire. I could be wrong, but that is how I see it now.
October 14, 2009 at 3:33 pm
I think it is stress, but there have been alot of pictures where she looks great and very happy.
October 14, 2009 at 5:53 pm
Yes Hillary is a work horse. She doesn’t have time to run around and campaign and go on a vacation every other week.
October 15, 2009 at 1:08 am
Hillary may run for president again but she will never ever win!!!!! The DNC would never nominate her in 2012 over BHO and by that time people will be ready for a change like maybe a republican. Maybe in 12 years when Hillary is about 80 she will run.
October 23, 2009 at 6:23 pm
Hillary didn’t exactly say no,she said “Im not interested or thinking about that right now ,I’m focusing on my job.” something like that but has anyone noticed that Hillary who was and is big on HR in Bill’s administration and as a N.Y. Senator has not said a peep or anything about the Afghanistan that would put her in a precarious position. Ithink she is keeping her job as Secretary of state cleand and will run again in 2012 this woman is smart and she knows what she is doing and yes she will be Paresident . I truly believe.
December 27, 2009 at 11:28 pm
There are legions of Hillary fans everywhere. But she is not going to take on a sitting president. She will only run for Prez if he resigns in disgrace. She is weighing her options, her health, future and public opinion. Then if the skies look sunny and she still has the energy/desire…she’ll start her campaign in 2014. (4 short years away.)
January 31, 2010 at 5:06 pm
Please Hillary! Run for president again! I have supported you for soo long and I think the U.S. has been watching, listening, & admiring you as you fulfill your role as Secretary of State. You have EARNED the presidency, & while I want you to have a chance to relax and enjoy a personal life, my own selfish wish is that you don’t give up, & that you DO run for President again. I respect you so much Hillary!!!
