Here’s an experiment we’d like you to try out there, wherever you live, and see if you get the same response we get in Chicago.
Today on Halsted here in Boystown, the Human Rights Campaign was at it again, walking the street with clipboards trying to get people to sign up for sponsorships.
We have a rule: none of us will make a scene, shout things, or heckle these volunteers as they walk the street stopping people. It’s not our business. We write about what we think of the Human Rights Campaign and its blind support for Dr. Utopia and his Magical Nonexistant Unicorn Parade of Meaningless Promises. Thousands of people a day read what we think of the Human Rights Campaign. So, we don’t intrude on the interactions their volunteers have with random people in Chicago.
BUT, if these Human Rights Campaign volunteers approach US, and engage US, and ask US to support them, then we let them know, politely, just what we think of these idiots. Which sounds something like this:
“We will never again support the Human Rights Campaign, and on a regular basis tell everyone we know not to support you either, because from June to November 2008 you gave every cent donated to you to the Obama campaign. Clearly, you do not need money if you can so freely give it away. Clearly, you can’t be trusted with money if you lavish it on someone who has no intention of doing anything for the LGBTQ community. Do you know what Obama did on June 29th, 2008 instead of marching in the Chicago Gay Pride Parade? He got his hair cut and played basketball at the East Bank Club. He has done absolutely nothing for the LGBTQ community and pays only vague lip service to DADT and DOMA issues. He is not supporting marriage equality in Maine and Vermont…and he did not instruct his followers to defeat Prop-8 in California, which passed because of the enthusiastic support of black Obama voters. Joe Solomonese and the Human Rights Campaign will never again have our support because they put all their hopes into the world’s largest do-nothing narcissist. You should be ashamed to be out supporting an organization that is clearly so stupid and shortsighted”.
Without fail, these Human Rights Campaign people try to interrupt us at least 12 times during the above, but we plow through it. They weakly claim Obama didn’t march in any parades, but we remind them that he marched in lots of parades, such as the August 2008 Bud Billiken Parade in Chicago. He just doesn’t march in gay parades.
They also try to lie and claim the Human Rights Campaign didn’t give its donations to Obama…but we know damn well it did.
Then they claim “Oh, he’s supportive of gay marriage,” but can’t think of a single substantive thing he’s done in support of it.
These are very low-information and poorly trained volunteers — who almost ALWAYS storm off in a huff when challenged like this.
Like Dr. Utopia himself, these people are used to being praised and fawned over, just for existing. “Who doesn’t love the Human Rights Campaign? Who doesn’t love Obama? Who doesn’t love kittens?”.
Kittens don’t promise everyone the world, then laugh at how stupid they were to believe them, and occupy the most powerful office in the world for almost a full year without doing jack squat to keep any of the hundreds of thousands of promises they made just a year ago.
That’s why everyone loves kittens.
And why we think the Human Rights Campaign and its volunteers deserve every scolding they can get.

I wish I could see their faces, when you point out the truth about Obama and your thoughts on the Human Rights Campaign, and you ARE getting the truth out.

These people hate us. They really do.
What’s funny is we probably look like just the sort of guys who would be easy marks for them…and in the past, yes, we used to pledge $100 or so whenever we’d see them.
NEVER AGAIN.
It’s also funny how they pair volunteers up. Without fail, it’s always some variation of this:
(1) Cute boy/angry lesbian
(2) Older gay man/hot lesbian
(3) Twinky guy/old lesbian
(4) Weird guy/totally normal girl
So, when they go into the field, they balance each other out, and there’s something for everyone out there. A lot of thought must go into this because we’ve been observing these people for years and it’s always been consistent.
And we do field ops ourselves, and went to 27 states between us for HRC — the REAL HRC, as in Hillary Rodham Clinton, not the Human Rights Kool-Aid Slurping Campaign (HRKASC).

I donated to them long ago, before the Obama campaign, but once it began, I could not stomach the thought of my money going to him. They do still call me pretty regularly for donations. I generally don’t pick up – because I recognize the area code they call from. But next time I’m definitely answering to let them know why they don’t have my support anymore.

Erin,
Please tell them this. If people told them in droves what they cost themselves by slurping the Kool-Aid, maybe they will be more careful in the future.

Even worse. His voice, from a debate with the applause included, was used on robo-calls to support Prop 8.
It was left on the answering machine and just hearing it made my heart sink because I knew Prop 8 would pass.
And of course, if he can threaten delegates nationwide to vote for him against ‘the rulz’. He can get his voice off of that robo-call with ease.
Geez, Bob Dole was removed from that DNC health care commercial with one call to Rahm.

Karma do you know if anyone has that robo-call recorded? The entire thing with the Big O-Bought himself’s voice on it would be best.
I think it would be very effective to play over and over again when the great Lying One tells his lies about supporting the GLBT community!

Wow…I found it and the original source of the quote was the Saddleback ‘debate’.
Someone should capture this if they can….just in case.

Here is the script from the blog of the bill, but listening to the link upbove brings it home.
http://blog.protectmarriageequality.com/2008/11/04/yes-on-8-robo-calls-feature-obamas-voice/
“ANNOUNCER: Here’s Barack Obama in his own words on the definition of marriage.
OBAMA: I believe that marriage is a union between a man and a woman. [applause] Now, for me as a Christian, it is also a sacred union. God’s in the mix.
ANNOUNCER: Proposition 8 defines marriage as a union between a man and a woman. Vote yes on 8 if you agree on that definition.”

And that first link actually defends Obama’s caveat after the applause line. As if that is where his stance really lies and that Obama/Biden ‘are moving in the right direction.’
While I think the pandering to the crowd is where the real issue is and there will be no significant movement on gay rights. Just more pandering to the crowd in front of him.
Oh but did you hear Obama appointed an openly gay woman for US Marshall a few days after his pandering speech. I wonder how long they had her on the radar? Probably not long.

Thanks a lot Karma,
Now if someone can find an audio of that ro-bo call.
There’s bound to be some YouTube clips and loads of news reports (tv or radio) that used that in covering that story!

Buttered,
The audio of the robo-call is midway down the page of the first link.
Where the grey speaker and arrow icons are located.
Posting while running out the door never works well for me…lol…both posts suck.
Sorry about that. ;)

You know, this whole administration seems really muslim and sharia friendly.
And we know the muslim societies are anything but friendly to the rights of gays and women.
To quote Mark Levin, ‘That’s right, I said it!’
