Breaking…Chicago was eliminated in the first round of IOC voting.
It looks like Dr. Utopia and Oprah fell flat on their faces. We’re hearing the IOC voting members thought Oprah, in particular, was quite obnoxious, pushy, and overbearing in her dealings with IOC members.
And the big joke around the IOC was that a new sport at the Chicago Games would have been “corruption”, not rugby or golf.
UPDATE: Can anyone explain how Tony Blair and Vladimir Putin were able to deliver the Olympics for their countries, but the Obamas could not even get Chicago past the first round of voting?
How long before the current US President claims it was RAAACISM! behind this decision? The way RAAACISM is driving everyone who opposes the Obamas or Oprah or Henry Gates or any other diaper babies out there.
UPDATE: “For the first time in Chicago history, Daley and Obama lost a rigged election” – Illinois Gubernatorial candidate Dan Proft, October 2nd, 2009
UPDATE: How much taxpayer money went into the Obamas’ whirlwind trip to Europe, including the extra cargo charges to bring Oprah Winfrey along?
Why are US taxpayers footing the bill for that Air Force One travel?
Shouldn’t the Obamas personally reimburse taxpayers for that? Shouldn’t Oprah pay her fair share for that joyride? Shouldn’t Chicago itself, at the very least, have to pay for that?
These are questions people need to ask nation-wide.
Additionally, the big question is WHY Chicago lost in the FIRST ROUND. If the world is supposed to love Obama so damn much, then why on Earth did Chicago lose out in the first round?
It really and truly does feel like Michelle Obama, in particular, probably has a lot to do with that. She is not a nice woman, is not a fashion icon, and does not “dazzle people” the way the media claims. She is a rude, pushy, petty, and caustic individual — one we’ve personally encountered here in Chicago. She alienates people who walk into a room hoping to like her. But everyone is always too afraid of being called a RAAACIST! to speak the truth about her. The same can be said about Oprah…Oprah is not a nice woman by any stretch of the imagination. It is no surprise the two of them are fast friends. And it’s no surprise the two of them probably very much indeed did keep Chicago from winning the Olympics.
We have never in our lives been so proud of the current First Lady.
EPIC FAIL.
UPDATE: Pandemonium in Chicago broadcast centers…anchors in disbelief…

October 2, 2009 at 10:31 am
Just heard this on the news and let out a shout!
And on the first round too.
I am sooo happy!

Is this true? You guys are so clever with your writing, sometimes I can’t tell snark from truth….
October 2, 2009 at 10:35 am
I think my cheers just echoed through all of Lincoln Park! SO EXCITED! I was dreading we would get them. THANK GOD WE DIDN’T! ♥
October 2, 2009 at 10:37 am
Thank God!!! Did anyone watch that presentation? How many times did they say “Hope” or “Change” ?? It was a horrible presentation….I was watching it while doing laundry at the Holiday Inn in Port Aransas, TX… It was a HORRIBLE presentation…!!!
October 2, 2009 at 10:44 am
But they are horrible – how in the heck did he get elected?? Why does everyone think he is so wonderful? Because the MSM leads everyone to believ this? Time for Change and Hope now – you betcha!
The world is tired of the raaaacist game.
October 2, 2009 at 11:28 am
Deb, many would contend that Barack Obama did not get elected…… well not legally at least….. some would contend it is all I’m saying…….
October 2, 2009 at 12:19 pm

Is this live and are the 3 big Os there for the vote?
October 2, 2009 at 10:40 am
Just read it on Drudge. I’m telling ya, Rio will get the bid. It’s South America’s time, fer heaven’s sake.
I’m obsessed with this song, so please forgive me for posting it for a third time:
October 2, 2009 at 10:42 am
RE: your question on Tony Blair and the London games…If I remember correctly, it was tight between London and Paris, but the French president made an unkind comment about the quality of food in Finland. France lost by two votes. There were two Finns on the IOC.
October 2, 2009 at 11:29 am
LOL
October 2, 2009 at 10:43 am
This is so frickin great! I really thought that if Dr. Utopia went there he knew it was a wrap.
I think Daley, running his suck, and Michelle and the One talking about THEMSELVES again instead of oh I don’t know the American people, and the United States blew it.
It could be his apology tours of the world too putting the United States down, then he wants to run over there and tell them how great we are now that HE is in charge.
Eat it Barrak!

South America should have a chance and so happy if they get it.

Being a huge soccer fan I’m thrilled for Pele as mush as I am for Brazil.
October 2, 2009 at 10:44 am
I forgot to say YAY! HOORAY! for the men of HB and all the Chicagoans here and thruout the city who worked so hard to prevent yet another opportunity for ChiTown graft.
BRAVO!!!!!!!!! I’m soooo happy for you!!!! You’re spared!!!! G-d bless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
October 2, 2009 at 10:45 am
Wow, what an embarrassment for Obama!

October 2, 2009 at 10:47 am
Congrats Chicago! I’m glad you will NOT have to go through what we did in Los Angeles! And in the first round to boot! Looks like the O’Blah blah’s and Okra Wimpy are the gods they THINK they are!!!
October 2, 2009 at 10:48 am

October 2, 2009 at 11:43 am
Hey Vbrat … the LA Olympics was great. Virtually nobody on the freeways for two weeks! Peter Uberroth ran a tight, well-organized ship and, to my knowledge, nobody – including the cities that hosted events – lost their shirts in the process.
October 2, 2009 at 10:47 am
AWESOME:o)
October 2, 2009 at 10:49 am
Ooops should have been ARE NOT the gods they think they are! LOL!!!!!
October 2, 2009 at 10:49 am
If there was one place on the innertubes where the champaigne corks would be popping over this sad news {sniff, sniff}, I knew it would be here.
Good for you Chicago. This was one Olympic race where losing is winning.
October 2, 2009 at 10:49 am
Wasn’t Hans Christian Anderson (Emperor’s New Clothes) from Denmark? Now the world knows what we know.
October 2, 2009 at 11:33 am
Yes, Yes Hans Was!
October 2, 2009 at 10:50 am
YES I just read that and came to see how happy you must be, they didn NOT even make it thru the first round!!!!!!!!!! http://msn.foxsports.com/olympics/story/10154098/Chicago-loses-in-bid-to-host-2016-Olympics
Chicago was eliminated in the first ballot of voting for the 2016 Olympics on Friday, a stunning defeat for the city that was expected to be one of the two finalists. Not even the presence of President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama – nor a long list of celebrities – was enough to help the United States’ third-largest city.
Chicago had seemed to pick up momentum in the last few days, with many International Olympic Committee members seemingly charmed by Mrs. Obama. But when IOC president Jacques Rogge announced the results of the first vote, Chicago’s name was announced.
October 2, 2009 at 10:51 am
I hope it’s Rio! I just by chance had Faux News on, and they said the IOC would announce early, but then they went to the DA of NY about the Letterman crap. Crikey, is that DA the same one they put in to office in 1776????
GO RIO
October 2, 2009 at 10:52 am
I guess the world community isn’t so easily hypnotized as the Americans were by the charms of BO, MO and OO. Too bad they didn’t have a vote in U.S. election 2008!
October 2, 2009 at 11:35 am
No they are not Susan.
In fact most of the world views Americans (rightly or wrongly) as naive dopes – especially when it comes to our believing lying politicians!
October 2, 2009 at 12:32 pm
That’s how I view a lot of my fellow citizens too….
October 2, 2009 at 10:52 am
Bravo Hillbuzz, Chicago and America!!!! I fell to my knees and thanked God for this gift of—-dare I say it—-HOPE. I pray we are seeing the beginning of the end to our national nightmare. Thank you Hillbuzz for getting the word out and leading the charge. How sad Americans have to pray for a “failure” such as this to end the reign of Obamamania.
October 2, 2009 at 10:57 am
You’re right–it IS crazy ironic. We live in Bizzaro World. Now I know this will sound silly (imagine that!), but when the least stuck-up contestant won the most previous Top Chef competition, I knew in my heart that the tide was turning on a national scale.
Every day, the TRUTH gets closer to the surface. VIVA the IOC!!!!!!!!
Go, RIO!!!!!!!!!!!
October 2, 2009 at 11:00 am
correction: It was the Next Food Network Star. I get my reality shows confused. ;)
October 2, 2009 at 10:52 am
I just read on Hot Air that some people in Chicago are blaming Michael Jordan for not going over and supporting them….give me a break.
October 2, 2009 at 10:58 am
Michael Jordan never seemed all that hot about the Olympics. I don’t remember which Olympics this was, but when he had to go when he was playing sports, I remember he did not show up when all the athletes walk around at the beginning and they each represent their country. Jordan was conspicuoulsy absent during that time.
October 2, 2009 at 10:53 am
1st Round? Guess the IOC committee doesn’t watch American Idol. Didn’t even bother with building some suspense.
Bye, Bye, ‘Bama
October 2, 2009 at 10:54 am
I am so happy the Olympics will not be in Chicago.
I watched the presentation and it did not look like the O’s were sure they had it. During the Q and A, Dr U was asked what the legacy of the Chicago games would be, it was a complete deer in headlights moment for Dr U, but he did manage to apologize for America, again.
I guess the bloom is off the hope and change rose.
October 2, 2009 at 10:54 am
What’s that? Daddy Gaddafi calling? He wants his son home. Bring Oprah and Michelle with you…
October 2, 2009 at 10:54 am
I’ve been flipping around the channels and am enjoying the reaction of the media. Especially MSNBC!
This is great!
I hear that Obama has already planned his victory speech from the Rose Garden later today. I wonder if he will show.
October 2, 2009 at 12:19 pm
pMSNBC…do they have a suicide watch up for Olbermann and Matthews??? Those two ought to be main lining anti-depressants right about now…

I just can’t stop smiling! This is too funny!
October 2, 2009 at 10:55 am
YAY!!! “The Ego Has Landed” ROFLMAO!!!
October 2, 2009 at 10:57 am
Oh, P.S. Obama and Michelle, the American taxpayers just called–they want a refund! Oh, and the greenies–they want you to pay for that carbon footprint, too!
What a waste.

Awesomely awesome. I was thinking of you guys waiting for this to come across the wires. The cries of raaaacism will startin in 5, 4, 3, 2, waah!!
I am so glad that a this didn’t happen. A city that has to shut down for 17 days a year due to budget constraints does not need this kind of albatross.
Gosh, think of all the money the Daly machine just lost. HOORAY. Best news since word of Sarah’s book came out.
Have a fabulous day guys, you deserve it.
Susan
October 2, 2009 at 11:43 am

I heard the Chicago pitches this morning on NPR. Both Michelle and Obama are walking first pronouns. Michelle even mentioning her sick father. Then during the morning almost all of the callers were pro Rio. Even NPR couldn’t spin it even though they said 75% of Chicagoans are for the games.
October 2, 2009 at 11:02 am
NPR LIES????
lol

October 2, 2009 at 10:58 am
Congratulations all!!! You sure dodged a bullet. Well done. Your next mission should you decide to accept it, is Mayer McCheese….. er Daley :)
You know, after reading a lot of the posts on this blog one thing strikes me. The people that post here have something in common with the republicans that support Sarah Palin. That’s the desire for good, clean and honest government regardless of the political party. Maybe this can act as a template for like minded people from both sides to make common cause to clean the corrupt, deadwood from both sides out of the system. Sounds a little grandious I know but it would be nice to see it happen.
October 2, 2009 at 10:59 am

RE: “UPDATE: How much taxpayer money went into the Obamas’ whirlwind trip to Europe, including the extra cargo charges to bring Oprah Winfrey along?”
We need to impeach on the grounds of un-authorized use of funds if that happened.
Come on, what are the odds that happened?
October 2, 2009 at 11:03 am
Fox news reported it cost the US taxpayers over 10 million dollars for 2 planes and tons of security. That cash sure could have helped our schools.
October 2, 2009 at 11:45 am
Thanks Sean!
October 2, 2009 at 11:01 am
Congrats Team HillBuzz !! Snippets rolling in was that the passion of the opposition was a big factor in the first round elimination.

Bravo and kudos to Hillbuzz, you got the word out to us uninformed west coasters about your city’s corruption and disguises.
Here’s hoping some of my emails sent to the IOC people were actually read. GO RIO!!!!
You guys are great, keep it up! PS: your city is pretty neat, I just dont like the violence and corruption. The IOC showed the world that Dr Utopia doesn’t intimidate them!! Maybe Oprah ripped one in front of the IOC members. Pee U! Sean
October 2, 2009 at 11:03 am
YES!!!!! That’s great!!!! I thought that the decision was going to go the other way. Now, Utopia is finding another way to punish us for making him look like a bozo (he can do this all by himself).
October 2, 2009 at 11:05 am
Good job guys! The False Messiah is on epic fall. He is no god. He is going down and this is the beginning of the end. 3 more years to go. And get what? Unemployment is almost double digits as of today!!!

October 2, 2009 at 11:10 am
Watching the Obamas presentation was painful. Once again, it was all about them. How the venue would be close to the family home and then Michelle, my father this and that. Nothing about Americans or its citizens, nothing. I was aghast. I kept waiting to hear about Obama’s mother was on food stamps.
October 2, 2009 at 11:26 am
Their false sincerity was enough to make me puke. I’m convinced that Utopia thought that he was going to be crowned and that someone would say, “voting’s over, Obama seals the deal.” What a complete loser. I hope this is the beginning of the end for this guy’s political career. Will people finally wake up and say, we made a mistake. It’s time to pack up and go back to Hyde Park Utopia! Leave the next term for someone serious.

I like this heading “Obama + Michelle x Oprah= Zero”
I’m watching channels I haven’t watched for a year JUST to see their shock.
The fact it looks like Obama got out played politically by Rio makes it even sweeter.

I never thought of this, but Rush just said that Dr. Utopia was trapped. Mayor Daley knows ALL of his dirty little secrets.
Great pic up on Drudge with the title: The Ego Has Landed.

Woops. I just refreshed. The Hillbuzz Boyz are on it…

Ever wonder why it is so quiet in Patrick Fitzgerald land?
October 2, 2009 at 11:31 am
Hah. I’m glad I was so wrong about this “being in the bag”.
In addition to being eliminated in the first round, Chicago also got the fewest votes.
Hey, Obama? how does it feel to be left holding the bag?
But who knew the IOC was so…raaaaaaacccisst!
October 2, 2009 at 11:33 am
Now Michelle can’t see the Olympics out her back window.
October 2, 2009 at 12:33 pm

BUT, Michelle CAN see the slums out her back window. Just like she did before…when she looked the other way.

October 2, 2009 at 11:41 am
I don’t know…I was looking forward to President Palin opening the Chicago Games!
October 2, 2009 at 12:13 pm
Ace,
President Palin will be too busy fighting terrorism, fighting against Iran’s nukes and rebuilding the Country from Obama chaos than worrying about Olympic games.
October 2, 2009 at 11:43 am
It’s all BUSH’S fault! BUSH DID TOO MUCH DAMAGE TO AMERICA IN THE WORLD! OBAMA WAS AN INNOCENT LAMB! BUSH EVIL! EVIL BUSH! THE WORLD REJECTED BUSH, NOT TEH WON!
Hey, Mister Prezidint, tell us again how “I WON”!
Chicago denied billions in graft and corruption!
Chicago may have lost the olympic bid thanks to Mr and Mrs Prezidint and Oprah, but AMERICA IS THE REAL WINNER!
October 2, 2009 at 12:15 pm
Mike Bliss,
At this point in his presidency, Bush was the most popular US president in History on his sure way to a huge reelection.
Obama just made himself a One termer.
October 2, 2009 at 12:34 pm
AMEN Mike!
October 2, 2009 at 11:47 am
“UPDATE: Can anyone explain how Tony Blair and Vladimir Putin were able to deliver the Olympics for their countries, but the Obamas could not even get Chicago past the first round of voting?”
I daresay that the Blair and Putin teams found out what the IOC wanted and gave it to them, while the Utopia team told the IOC what the Utopia team wanted and expected to have it delivered on a silver platter.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article6859031.ece#
There has been a growing narrative taking hold about Barack Obama’s presidency in recent weeks: that he is loved by many, but feared by none; that he is full of lofty vision, but is actually achieving nothing with his grandiloquence.
Chicago’s dismal showing today, after Mr Obama’s personal, impassioned last-minute pitch, is a stunning humiliation for this President. It cannot be emphasised enough how this will feed the perception that on the world stage he looks good — but carries no heft.
