Monday Open Thread: September 21st, 2009

What’s on your mind this Monday?

Are you paying attention to what Andrew Breitbart is doing over at www.BigGovernment.com?

Last week, Breitbart pushed the ACORN story that embarrassed the MSM (because of its refusal to report on anything that makes Dr. Utopia look bad) and forced Congress to nominally defund the criminal organization that gave Dr. Utopia his start (because if any of you out there think ACORN is gone for good now, you haven’t watched any horror movies…ACORN will just reemerge when no one is looking, taking another form).

This week, Breitbart is pushing the National Endowment for the Arts story — where NEA members on a conference call with the White House were specifically told to create art to glorify Dr. Utopia and spread his message as propaganda.

Creepy stuff…and illegal too, using government resources and nonpolitical agencies to promote political agendas and create a cult of personality around “The One” (as Oprah calls him, in between bites off whole heads of cattle).

Breitbart seems to have planned last week and this week expertly…and we wonder what’s on deck for the week after that.  There still more ACORN tapes out there too…and we wonder when the Chicago tapes will be released (since it just doesn’t seem likely that the investigative team after ACORN went to DC, Baltimore, Brooklyn, and California but failed to pay a visit to the belly of the beast, ACORN’s Chicago office, in the most corrupt city in America, where Dr. Utopia got his start).

Ultimately, it feels like Breitbart is less about bringing down Dr. Utopia as he is about further eroding the public’s trust in the MSM itself.

Every time Breitbart exposes Dr. Utopia and his merry gang, and people see the MSM failed to report on it — or in the case of the NY Times, blatantly killed stories that could hurt Dr. Utopia — the public’s already historically-low opinion of newspapers and the broadcast networks sinks even LOWER.

This is all coinciding with Dr. Utopia’s plan to takeover the newspapers themselves, with yet another bailout of failing businesses, and restructure them in his own image, to further promote his own likeness and agenda.

Perfect timing for Breitbart to redraw the public’s attention to just how terrible the MSM really is…how poorly they write and report their stories…and how biased they are in all that they do.

These people do not deserve a dime of taxpayer money…and the White House certainly does not deserve to have more of a propaganda machine than what it’s already so enjoying.

What do you think Breitbart’s ultimate end-game is…and what surprises do you think he’ll have to spring along the way?

Thursday Open Thread: September 17th 2009

Posted at September 17, 2009 by HillBuzz // Hillbuzz

What’s on your mind this Thursday?

We’re wondering what our current Attorney General, highly partisan and corrupt Eric Holder, will do about the firestorm engulfing ACORN.  We’ve already seen Holder protect Democrat Bill Richardson — by calling off federal prosecution of him on corruption charges — and refuse to bring the Black Panthers to justice for the voter intimidation they engaged in on Election Day 2008 to help Dr. Utopia win the presidency.

ACORN was a defacto branch of the Utopia 2008 campaign as well, doing more damage to the electoral system than the Black Panthers did.  If Holder decided friends and allies of Dr. Utopia will not be brought to justice while he’s Attorney General, we can’t imagine him taking any action against ACORN either.

ACORN is Dr. Utopia…Dr. Utopia is ACORN.  The two are so intertwined as to be indistinguishable.

So, what will our illustrious Attorney General do?

Will it take the Chicago ACORN tapes…which we just KNOW are coming…to finally force Holder to show some semblance of competence?  Can anything make this race-baiting, corrupt, partisan Utopia crony fulfill his duties to the American people…even when they harm Dr. Utopia’s closest friends and allies?

It’s stunning to wonder just what, exactly, is on the remaining, unreleased ACORN tapes that are out there.  Breitbart says there are many more…and in Chicago everyone’s talking about the potential for a Chicago tape to be in that mix, and for it to be the worst of all for ACORN.

Wednesday Open Thread: September 16th 2009

What’s on your mind this Wednesday?

How excited are you to see what new tape is dropped on ACORN tonight?

There’s big speculation here in Chicago that, ultimately, the biggest hit against ACORN will be a Chicago tape.  So far, Baltimore, DC, Brooklyn, and San Bernadino ACORN offices have been exposed as the criminal operations they are…but the belly of the beast for all corruption is Chicago.

Did the Breitbart Big Government team obtain video footage of Chicago’s ACORN office…the ACORN thugs that Dr. Utopia worked so closely with through the years?  Why did Illinois’ two Senators vote against stripping ACORN of its funding?

That last one is hard for us because we love and support Senator Roland Burris…but politically you need to understand that ACORN and other corrupt groups have a stranglehold on Illinois…Chicago in particular.  It’s no defense for Burris to have voted against cutting ACORN off, but we understand why he did it.  Durbin’s just a jackass on the wrong side of everything on a regular basis…so that pretty much explains him.  But the black community feeds off ACORN…so the sole black Senator we have, who depends on the black community, must have felt a lot of pressure to vote the way he did.

It’s always tough when someone we like does something we hate.  But, that’s life.

The larger operative question we have today is how far Republicans will go to destroy ACORN permanently.  ACORN is like Dracula.  We’ve said this many times before.  Whenever, in movies, someone thought Dracula was beaten, he just turned into a bat and flew away…or twisted himself into smoke, or a wolf, or whatever.  He pretended to be dead and vanquished, but then turned up the next night to get back to whatever he was up to.

THAT’S what ACORN is like.  It’s wonderful what’s happening to them right now…but Republicans have a tendency to give up on things quickly.

Here in Chicago, Republicans we know are saying, “Yeah! ACORN is defeated!  We did it!  Hurray!”.

No, ACORN is not defeated.

ACORN is resilient.  Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid will do all in their power to keep ACORN’s funding in spending bills.  Dr. Utopia will do everything he can from the White House to protect ACORN.  Just like he did with Bill Richardson and the Black Panthers, our corrupt and partisan Attorney General Eric Holder will refuse to prosecute ACORN — and will, we bet, instead use the Justice Department to attack those who are trying to expose ACORN.

ACORN is so powerful it makes good people — people we know to be decent and worth supporting, like Senator Burris and Senator Gillibrand — vote to protect it.

Do you really believe one week’s attention will crumble a criminal enterprise that’s been in place for decades?

Taking ACORN down permanently is a longterm goal…one Republicans should embrace wholeheartedly because, frankly, if ACORN goes down that’s one less division of thugs Dr. Utopia has at his personal disposal for voter fraud in 2012.  More importantly, it’s one less weapon of fraud liberals will have in 2010.

Not only is it the right thing to do to take down ACORN, but it’s the only way we can ever hope to get any election reform to ensure what happened in the 2008 primaries and general election NEVER happens again.

Pressure on ACORN must be kept up…and it cannot be allowed to reform, Dracula=style, under another name to operate business-as-usual once attention shifts to something else in time.

Sunday Open Thread: September 13th 2009

Posted at September 13, 2009 by HillBuzz // Hillbuzz

What’s on your mind this Sunday?

Here’s something truly disgusting:  Maureen Dowd has hit a new low for herself.  Yet again, she’s claiming anyone who criticizes, disagrees with, or calls Dr. Utopia a liar is a RAAACIST!

What’s interesting about this to us is:

(1) Liberals like Dowd really do seem to believe anyone not under Dr. Utopia’s spell truly is a RAAACIST!  It seems impossible for them to accept the fact that someone can oppose this President without being a RAAACIST!  So, even though Dr. Utopia does indeed lie, and has been lying his whole career, everyone that calls him a liar must be a RAAACIST, pure and simple. We have been wondering since the primary campaign whether liberals who shout RAACISM! were following some script, or if they really and truly were delusional enough to believe this.  The answer now seems to be that the likes of Dowd actually do believe this drivel.

(2) We wonder how much longer Americans will collectively sit back and let the likes of Dowd call all critics of Dr.Utopia RAAACISTS! As Dr. Utopia continues to break his promises and underperform in relation to the Hope! and Change! wonderland he promised, more and more people should be asking themselves why there are no jobs being created, why Dr. Utopia’s numbers never add up, and why the Trillion Dollar Spending Bill he forced through Congress STILL hasn’t produced any of what it was supposedly designed to do.  Are all people suffering economically and expecting Dr. Utopia to do all the things he promised RAAACISTS?  According to Dowd, they are.  Anyone not living in the liberals’ ivory tower, drinking the Kool-Aid, in complete awe of Dr. Utopia’s majesty, must be a RAAACIST.  How much longer will Americans take this from liberals before they hit back?

And, the operative question for that last bit is HOW will Americans hit back against this crap?  We have no idea, but a backlash against the Maureen Dowds of the world doesn’t just seem likely, but inevitable.

September 11th, 2009: Lionel and Jane sent us

Posted at September 11, 2009 by HillBuzz // Hillbuzz

Today, we’re going to volunteer cleaning the homes of people who have AIDS and can no longer care for themselves. It’s hard work…and to be honest we hate it.  We hate cleaning, hate getting dirty, hate scrubbing filthy toilets, and hate that anyone in this world has to suffer with AIDS.  Our dear friend Lionel used to clean 23 guys’ apartments for them…on a BIWEEKLY basis.  We don’t know how on Earth Lionel did it…BY HIMSELF.  There are four of us working Lionel’s old volunteer shifts…6 apartments each a month…and it’s grueling.  And, yet, Lionel did it all himself.  Now that he’s gone, someone has to pick up that slack, and that someone is us. When we show up at a door, knowing what we’re about to face, in the bathroom especially, we smile bright, channel our dear friend, and say, “Lionel sent us”.

We will do this for as long as we live in Chicago.  And if we move, the first day we’re settled we’ll find an AIDS House and get new clients there, too.  Because Lionel sent us.  Now and for always.

We wanted to make sure cleaning shifts fell on September 11th because we all take this day off work every year, for different reasons.

Some of us know people who died that day eight years ago in the Towers.  One of them was Jane, a girl who lived on our hall freshman, sophomore, and junior years.  Jane was, in a word, memorable.  She was Thai, and as loud as a mack truck.  She was gossipy, backstabbing, and had a wicked sense of humor that was never endearing.  Jane did that thing our friend Panda does, which might be an Asian thing, something cultural that’s lost in translation:  if you’ve gained any weight, Panda pokes you in the stomach and says, “Lookit how fat you got, Mr. Eats Too Much”.  Then he laughs and laughs, a high pitched, machine gun, rat-a-tat-tat of a laugh.  Jane did the same thing.  If she thought you lost weight, she’d say, “You got so thin. You must have AIDS.  Too much man sex, now you die!”. And then she’d laugh and laugh, too.  In Thailand, maybe all this is funny, but we’ve always found it oft-putting.

And, to be honest, we never much liked Jane.  Whenever people from college would get together, Jane would always be there, though it was never clear who kept inviting her.  ”Your hair is so ugly, the person who cut it must hate you.  What did you do, sleep with her husband?  She got you back good!”, as the waiter would pass by, catching every word, which was probably what Jane intended.  ”Why did you wear such ugly clothes?  Can’t you afford nice ones?  These look like clothes someone would throw out and they smell like farts.  You and your smelly, ugly fart clothes.  You look like a homeless person!”.  Ha ha ha ha ha.

Jane also used to laugh at those of us who were struggling while she made, as she said, “the big bucks, silly homos”, in a trading firm in the Towers.  She made fun of those of us living in Cleveland, Milwaukee, Pittsburgh, or Chicago, while she was in “that big apple”.  And Jane was having the time of her life, working hard, laughing all the time, rubbing her success in wherever she could.

It remains one of the greatest shocks of our lives the afternoon of September 11th when we got a call from our good friend Damyanti telling us she thought Jane worked in a high floor and no one had heard from her.  Of course, Jane had been the first person any of us knew who had a cell phone.  She used to call all of us on it, late at night, and laugh, “Ha ha, guess where I am calling you from?  A CELL PHONE.  And you are answering it on a stupid old land phone.  That’s because you are loser who lives in Cleveland still!  I am big time and you are NO TIME! Ha ha ha!”.

What’s hard to articulate is that we still, to this day, miss Jane like crazy.  We have a hard time every 9/11 because we think of Jane, in a stairwell somewhere, or maybe under her fancy desk, not knowing what was going on, not knowing what to do, terrified.  And Jane was someone we had never seen scared.  Sure, it was all bravado.  All those rubs and jabs came from a place of insecurity, we’re sure.  She poked fun at others, first, so that no one could poke at her…since she was conscious of her looks, her accent, her height, a lot of things.  We “got” Jane…which is why we always accepted her as part of our extended group, as opposed to other jerks we’ve known that we wanted nothing to do with.  We may have never sought Jane out, but we never pushed her away.  She was the Newman or Kramer to our little Seinfeld gang, but more Thai, only one person, and with a mouth like a dirty sailor.

We hope the religious people are right and there really is a Heaven where everyone finds peace, because when we die we want to hear Jane before we see her, cussing someone out up there as usual, telling Fatty Arbuckle or someone, “Oh man, I know why they called you Fatty, it’s because you are so fat.  No wonder you killed that woman you were on top of!  You so fat, you kill people by sitting on them, you fatty!  Ha ha ha. So fat!”  Lionel, we’re sure, is already leading a choir of angels, making the most gorgeous music, spinning colors out of light and dancing on rainbows, more fabulous and beautiful and charming than ever.  Jane, of course, is up there blowing raspberries and poking people in their stomachs and asking everyone why they are so fat and why they’re wearing whatever it is they are wearing.  ”Why’d someone bury you in that?  It so ugly?  Everyone hated you! Ha ha ha”.

9/11, hopefully, will ultimately be long enough ago that people no longer make everyone who died that day into saints.  As we repeatedly say, not everyone who dies is automatically a magical and perfect person.  Our friend Lionel was magical…because he really and truly did lead an EXCEPTIONAL life.  His shoes were large and mighty, mighty hard to fill — as evidence by the fact that it takes FOUR OF US just to do the volunteering he did ALL ON HIS OWN. In death, we could never make Lionel any larger than life than he ACTUALLY WAS when he walked this Earth.

Jane was Jane, and was an original.  She died on 9/11 with many other people…all of whom were human…none of whom were perfect.  Some were Lionels.  Some were Janes. Some were in-between, some were better, some were worse…it was a hearty mix.  We could go on for DAYS reliving what that day in September 2001 was like for us…not knowing where people were…hearing about Jane…hearing about other people we knew of, but were not friends with, who also died…dealing with the fallout of 9/11, emotionally, politically, financially, you name it.

But, if you are old enough to read this, you remember all this…in your own life.  You don’t need us to tell our story, because you have your own.  And, honestly, we don’t want to relive that day again.  We will always remember it.  We will always mark it with a volunteerism day — one of five each of us commits to every year, rain or shine, without fail (joining Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Thanksgiving, and our individual birthdays…five days, no matter what, that we give to others in thanks for all the blessings we’ve had in this life).

This year, we’re also doing it because Lionel’s not here to pitch in himself, so we’ll have to work a little harder to carry the difference.

In years past, we volunteered at soup kitchens or as reading tutors in public schools on 9/11…and we always let Jane sit on our shoulders all day, telling us to work harder, making fun of how slow we were washing pots, telling us what sissies we were for not wanting to get our hands in the filthy water, laughing that we were “just a bunch of girls…where is your makeup, girls?  Where is your purse?  You must find it to paint your nails and be pretty, you GIRLS!  Ha ha ha!”  If you knew her, you’d be smiling, because she really did talk like that.  Imagining a tiny Jane on our shoulders, berating us in her sing-song way really did motivate us to work harder, the way it always had…the way it does when we’re on treadmills or running to catch a train or struggling with some problem we can’t work out.  There’s Jane, the way she’s always been, pushing us, competing with us, demanding better of us always.

Jane was no saint, but she was a big part of our lives.  We’ll never forget her.  We’ll never forget 9/11 and everything else about that day.  We won’t forget all the people we’ve lost in life, who occupy our thoughts on days like today, and Christmas, and Memorial Day, and Thanksgiving.

The rest are actual holidays, and in time we think 9/11 should be as well…a national volunteerism day where we all go out and do something a lost friend or loved one used to do to help others, now that they aren’t here to do it themselves.

It’s our tradition to turn a terrible day into somethin positive…and to spend another day with the spirits of the people who were big parts of our lives but are gone now.

Today, in all we do, Lionel and Jane sent us. We will work hard all day cleaning for those who can’t do it themselves anymore.  We will be at it from 9am to 7pm easily.  And, tonight, we’re going to order in a large After School Special Sausage and Marshmallow pizza from Pie Hole (Lionel’s favorite) and some Cashew Chicken from Joy’s Noodles (Jane’s favorite).

No politics for us today.  No post but this one, most likely.  There will be time for all that tomorrow.

Today Lionel and Jane send us out into the world to work hard, kick ass, and take names. We’d love it if you do something like that too — instead of sitting around watching the MSM revel in the circus of its perpetual memorial coverage. We’ve had 8 years of that sad song, smoldering ash, “Remembrance’ euology.

Time for the phoenix to rise…for folks to get off their fat butts…and get out there and DO SOMETHING worthwhile today, in the spirit of all those who are no longer with us…and who would love to have today to GET STUFF DONE too!

“Hey fatties, move those butts!  I can see you from here, so lazy!  Eight years is long enough to cry…you work now.  Work hard.  Make something better or I’ll haunt your sorry ass!”

Love ya Jane…you drove us nuts and brought many an unsuspecting date of ours to tears…but you sure were an original!

Get ready for Dr. Facilier — Disney's Princess and the Frog

Posted at September 10, 2009 by HillBuzz // Hillbuzz
Dr. Facilier is NOT Dr. Utopia. Even though they look alike.

Dr. Facilier is NOT Dr. Utopia. Even though they look alike.

Dr FacilierHere’s one of those things that are totally a coincidence, but amusing nonetheless.

This Christmas, Disney’s latest animated film comes out — with “the first black princess”, as Disney has been billing this…a character named Tiana, who is turned into a frog, has an adventure in the swamp, and then presumably returns to human form to live happily ever after with her Prince, Naveen (the characters were named Maddy and Harry, respectively, until Al Sharpton and the RAAACIST! brigade complained they weren’t “African” enough).

The story’s set in New Orleans, a city we love, and the cartoon itself is chock full of as many fart jokes as Disney could manage, based on the trailers — because, apparently, that’s what Disney does nowadays. Oprah Winfrey’s doing one of the voices, so maybe that’s why there’s so many fart jokes in this (because, as you know if you’ve ever been in an elevator with Oprah, where there’s Winfrey, there are farts).

The villain of the story is a charismatic huckster named Dr. Facilier, who hypnotizes his victims, promises them hope and change, and deals in the shadowy and nebulous.

If Disney had drawn him as a skinny, effeminate black man, we’d swear it was a nod to Dr. Utopia…but Facilier is a skinny, masculine black man, judging by the trailer and his trading card image…so the two have nothing at all to do with one another.

We haven’t watched a cartoon in years, but were intrigued by Princess and the Frog because of the 1920s New Orleans setting. However, we will never pay money to see anything with Oprah in it. Not when we can just wait for our very own local Charybdis to beach herself somewhere, closing down large swaths of the city like she did this last Monday, and gape at her enormity for free. If we end up seeing this in theaters, it will be one of those occasions when we buy a ticket for something else starting at the same time and then walk into Princess and the Frog instead…just to screw with Disney’s box office.

And, for the record, Oprah’s not the only one we do this with. We will never pay to see a Mel Gibson, Tom Cruise, Julia Roberts, or Ashley Judd movie because we don’t like those people either, for various reasons. Though, none of them managed to close down a large portion of Chicago this week, to hold a giant farting contest, or tape her show, or be fed whole herds of cattle — or whatever Oprah was doing that taxpayers helped pay for.

OBAMA'S JUDGEMENT: MACHINE CANDIDATE HE ENDORSED IN 2006 NOW HAS 10% APPROVAL RATING

Posted at September 10, 2009 by Ray George // Hillbuzz

stroger

Judgment….the virtue by which we were supposed to judge Barack Obama during the election (along with, of course, being cool)….

Today, the Chicago tribune reports that the Obama endorsed, Cook County (Chicago’s county) President, Todd Stroger, now has a 10% approval rating……

How’s that for judgment?

In all honesty, 10% actually seems a little high…..after all, this is a guy who demanded his own private elevator in City Hall shortly after inheriting the job from his father…..a man who oversees a county with the highest tax rate in the country, yet still has crippling budget issues…….a leader who oversees a failing county health system and a school system that saw a child murdered on the average of once per week last year.

You know what’s funny and sad at the same time….this isn’t a new story…this same story existed last year…the media just chose not to run with it….and the people of Chicago chose to remain silent….

This is exactly why I decided to start my old blog, Chicagoans Against Obama, last year during the primary….

Here’s what I wrote last year after creating the blog:

This site was started for one reason……

TO EXPOSE BARACK OBAMA FOR WHAT HE IS…..A TYPICAL CHICAGO MACHINE POLITICIAN.

To those unfamiliar with Chicago-area politics, you may not know much about the 77-year old Chicago political machine…about what it does, and how it operates.

But when I see Barack obama give his, generic, and nuanced speeches in front of his wide-eyed YES WE CAN! contingent……and talk about bringing change to Washington……and how he is the only one who can do this……I feel nauseous….how do people not realize that he has had numerous opportunities to change Chicago, and has never done anything…..

For the last 20 years Obama has had a chance to shake the Chicago Political Machine, which has controlled Chicago’s neighborhoods for 77 years……he has had a chance to stand up to the crooked Alderman….he has had a chance to stand up against Todd Stroeger and the corrupt Cook County government…..but….he hasn’t….in fact, he’s appeased, and appeases, the existing machine….he continues to allow alderman to accept bribes….he’s allowed our cities’ health care system to collapse……he’s allowed our vital public transportation system to deteriorate to a point of no return…….he’s watched a mayor destroy a city airport in the middle of the night, without permission…..he’s watched, and continues to watch Chicago’s county President abuse his power, and misuse our tax dollars…….which is hard to do, considering Chicagoans pay the highest sales tax in the country.

And, to the Obama supporters that are supporting him because he did not vote for the war in Iraq.

WELL THAT’s JUST A FAIRY TALE……..

While it is true that he didn’t vote for the war………. Neither did I………..see Barack, like myself, and anyone who is probably reading this, was not in the US Senate when the vote was taken…….Obama wasn’t a Senator…..he was a schmo…a part-time politician, otherwise known as an Illinois state senator……he didn’t have a vote, he didn’t have the national intelligence data to make an informed decision….he had no say….ie. the vote is a fairy tale….

Not to Mention…………after seeing Obama’s preacher speak…one can get a grasp on the turf Obama was representing back in 2002, in the State Senate, when he spoke against the war…….Barack’s standing up against the war was about as courageous as my eating a bagel for breakfast this morning……I mean, when your preacher is equating the USA w/ Al Qaeda, in front of a cheering audience, 5 days after 9/11…….to stand up against the war, in fact any war…….is sort of a no-brainer.

Sadly, a year later, nothing has changed…..

The unions rule the day…..

The anti-war candidate continues to back two wars….

The gay rights activist who never marched in a single Chicago Gay Pride parade…..continues to support don’t ask don’t tell….and shows no support of gay marriage….

Political patronage, in which he was a willing participant in Chicago, continues in Washington under the leadership of machine maven Valerie Jarrett

And of course…..just as it was a year ago….the media remains silent…..

We don’t….

therefore, just like we were a year ago….

we remain….

racists….
