How will you be celebrating Indoctrination Day today?
Today’s the day Dr. Utopia reaches into classrooms to touch the hearts and minds of young children everywhere. If you watch is speech, tell us what you thought of it here. What do you think of politicians speaking to children like this, in general?
Personally, we think it’s grossly inappropriate…if ANY adult wants to address children as a captive audience, and speak directly to them, parents need to be present to make sure the children understand what is going on and answer any questions that come up. The setting is too rife with potential for indoctrination, no matter how subtle. Small children, in particular, respond effectively to authority…and nothing could possibly more authoritarian than a political figure coming on a giant TV screen and telling a child what to do. Even if nothing insidious is said in that particular message, it primes the child to sit quietly and obey in the future, having established the precedent that this sort of thing is acceptable, and that this politician in particular is allowed to speak to them, tell them what to do, when their parents are nowhere in sight. We’ve seen enough public school teachers in action to know that a good many of them would not pull the plug on any future transmissions where a political speech indeed did cross the line into true, unalloyed indoctrination.
It’s a slippery slope…and today Dr. Utopia does damage we won’t be able to fully appreciate for a while.
This is why, just a few years ago, that Democrats launched investigations and demanded oversight and checks and balances when President George H. W. Bush gave a speech to students. Democrats audited the money spent on the speech and questioned the appropriateness of using classroom time to drop everything and listen to a politician speak directly to children without their parents present…so, in 1991, Democrats were against this enough to use Congressional committees to see that it didn’t happen again for a while…but in 2009, Democrats feel Dr. Utopia should be able to do as he pleases.
This is the root of the problem we have with the current incarnation of the Democratic Party. Just like with the caucus and primary fraud Dr. Utopia committed…just like all his overseas campaign contributions…just like all of his race-baiting, his misogyny, and every other rotten thing he does…Democrats have completely changed who they are for this one man. Dr. Utopia can do no wrong in Democrats’ eyes, even if that means Demcorats reverse long-held positions just to cover for him.
It’s a slippery slope.
Will Democrats ever rein Dr. Utopia’s ego in? If so, will that happen before moderate Democrats abandon the party altogether and complete that transition to unaffiliated, independent status that’s been under way since May 31st, 2008?

HB – I am surprised to read today that some Chicago area schools won’t be showing Utopia’s speech. I didn’t bother reading the content, but I read the highlights. The WH has pointed out how innocuous this was, but my response to them is what was the original draft?? Can they say that they’ve not modified it when the outrage emerged? This is the type of responses this WH responds to. They think they’re still in the honeymoon phase where they think that everyone loves them. Their dillusion is only exceeded by their arrogance.

our schools didn’t show it

Did anyone see the lecturing we got from our Chinese debt holders? They’re dismayed by the level of money printing that is going on. I recommend a look at Drudge this morning for more information. Let me make some predictions. With the dollar falling as it is now – and it’s the weakest its been since February, look for oil to climb again! We can thank Utopia for the debt that we have today which caused the instability. Oh another thing, we have been hearing that a big portion of the stimulus hasn’t been paid. My guess for the “hold back” is that he wants to unleash it later when vote buying is critical. That spend could be in the former of yet another unemployment extension or another “cash for (fill in the blank”. Have a great day today. I look forward to everyone’s take today!

As a father of a 5th grade girl and 2nd grade girl, I’m not sure what I will do. We dont start school until 2morrow, the 9th, but I’m sure our super Obama loving teachers
will DVR it for them to watch. My kids are going to the beach 2day so they wont see it at home. I wont be watching it because I cannot stand to hear this guys voice, he just sounds like the worst used car salesman ever. Maybe I would watch it with my kids if this guy didn’t surrond himself with all these crazy wackos and anti-USA people. I just dont trust this guy, and I dont think I ever will. Keep smiling everyone, because a smile is an inexpensive way to improve our looks & the liberals hate it when your happy….and I’m happy, hope your happy too!
September 8, 2009 at 11:03 am
Sean – I thank you for voicing my thoughts exactly. I don’t like the way he sounds, and that’s the first thing. The second thing is that I can’t stand to be on the receiving end of someone’s lecturing to me when I know that they are so biased, so arrogant, and so condescending to the rest of us. In fact, it is even hard for me to read transcripts of his presentations.

Our schools aren’t showing the speech. Kind of funny, it’s the first day of school and they’re really busy and they just don’t have time to accommodate the president right now. According to the official notice, the first day of school was scheduled a while back with all the assorted lists of tasks that need to be accomplished and trying to make time for the president’s speech is just too inconvenient. They regret the scheduling conflict.
September 8, 2009 at 9:35 pm
Yeah, that’s what happened at my nieces’ schools. The older one started middle school today, so they were really busy. My younger niece, who is in second grade, said they didn’t show the speech in her class either. I don’t know if this was the policy for the entire district or if the teachers decided for themselves whether to show the speech or not.

Sigh, I kept arguing with my sisters friends last night about why it is wrong for Obama to give todays speech. I explained it was:
1. A pathetic attempt to salvage his plummeting approval numbers by exploiting children. (Look at me with these cute kids! Forget all about the Van Jones scandal, and my failing domestic and foreign policies!) 2. That is is wrong to use tax payer money for political advertising. That my taxpayer money should be spent actually allowing teachers to educate children rather than wasting my money and the time of teachers and children on this farce.
3. That his newly edited questions and speech on “perservence” was only edited to remove his socialist, partisan agenda after the parents raised a ruckus.
4. That it is wrong deny parents the right to opt their child out of this speech and thus force these children to listen to a message their parents disapprove of.
5. That Bush Sr. only made a speech in a classroom geared towards children once, and it was aired on CNN, not broadcast in every classroom possible.
6. That is was exploiting both the children in the classroom with Obama and the captive audience of children in the classroom. I explained that exploitation is when you use someone or something unable to refuse you in an attempt to benefit yourself. Which goes back to point 1.
They couldn’t find any wholes in my logic, although they really didn’t like me pointing out that this exploits children. I think that struck a liberal nerve. HeeHee! So they kept trying to argue that I was not being respectful. When I asked what was disrespectual about telling the truth they finally gave up.
I have never been so grateful that my 23 year old sister is smarter and wiser than her peers. She and I don’t always agree on politics but we have always fallen in the moderate to conservative side of the spectrum.
September 8, 2009 at 11:07 am
Great points that you’ve brought up! For a message as “innocuous” as they’ve made it sound, why not just publish it? It could have been done in such a way that it would not have generated so much heat. But, the fact of the matter is, the original message was far more political, and the intent was far less innocent. It is only when people start to question the intent of this man and his plans that they are reeling in their efforts. Make no mistake, they will continue in other ways to somehow put the brakes on his sagging approval numbers. This is only the start.
September 9, 2009 at 3:24 pm
And they tried to do all of this secretly remember!
September 8, 2009 at 11:21 am
Some thoughts of mine:
He is a human. He is not God. He is not a hero. He has done nothing…so, no, I don’t think it is an honor for the President to speak to the children.
The speech is a bore. It says nothing of great importance. Obama’s is not such a great story (the one how he made it through so many difficulties to make it where he is today). There are so many other stories from so many other people that are so much more inspiring than his..
I loved what the Superintendent of Schools for the state of Arizona said on Fox this morning: He said that he was not taking time from the children to practice hero worship…because although his staff see him that way and it probably makes him and his wife feel happy…it is inappropriate to waste time doing such in the public schools..by any politician.
September 8, 2009 at 11:23 am
Another thing that I see as sad is that this has the possibility to cause problems all year long at school…because if you are a student who disagrees you may end up “picked” on…
September 8, 2009 at 12:30 pm
You know what Stacee? This could be one of those mob psychology tactic to garner “support.”
September 8, 2009 at 11:21 am
He’s STILL talking! What student would sit through this? Even I’m bored!
September 8, 2009 at 11:22 am
My daughter 8 years old feigned sick on the day after the elections. She didn’t want to go to a classroom where she was “out voted” by like 25 to 1. This was none of my doing, I didn’t figure it out till I consulted with my husband later.
She’s out of school today, but if they show it tomorrow, perhaps she’ll just intentionally puke on the classroom floor.
…you go girl!

September 8, 2009 at 7:15 pm
Home again.
Let me say from the outset… I don’t have any specific beliefs about where he was or wasn’t born. The fact is he’s hiding something. Whatever it IS he’s trying desperately to hide, that is what we need to know. Most transparent my fanny.
What we DO know is totally contradictory to the “official” story.
Fact: 2 women have said they babysat for Stanley Ann in Washington State while she attended college. Obama was under one year of age.
Fact: Stanley Ann was enrolled in college 2 weeks after Obama was born. At University of Washington. She attended classes well enough to get a grad and not an incomplete.
Fact: The telephone directory has her listed at the address where the 2 women who babysat said Stanley Ann was living. The phone directory was found to be corroborating evidence to their story, not the other way ’round.
Dang!!! I’m trying to reference this info for you and the internet it seems is getting scrubbed from the photo copies. Atlas Shrugged Blog and WND are places where you can find this info. WND is full of misinformation so be careful- but sometimes it’s hard to argue with pictorial evidence.
So if he was adopted and didn’t re-register as an adult as a US citizen, or went to college on foreign exchange student grants, or didn’t register for the draft, or was born in Antartica, I pray we find out.
Here is an update as much as I can find:
http://aipnews.com/talk/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=7773&posts=5
Also, mentioned in above update is:
http://www.politico.com/blogs/joshgerstein/0909/DOJ_to_judge_dump_birthers_suit.html the the Justice Dept. of the US tried to get the case thrown out on procedural grounds.
I also like the birth certificate video filmed in what appears to be a third world county, where a citizen of America supposedly bribed his way into an Obama birth certificate. ha ha …classic!… don’t know if it’s real or not, but if it isn’t the guy just committed perjury. Or not really…his story may be true but the Kenyan guy he got it from faked it. Who knows, it’s as clear as mud, this whole fine mess you’ve gotten us into Obi. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkWd2INPhL4

On a local radio station today, after it was announced that a certain School District had received dozens of protest calls and emails, played a tape of a mom, who in a sing songy voice said ‘I don’t understand why anyone would oppose this, he is such a great guy!!!’
Like Maxine’s daughter, I was puke ready…

In his book, Rules for Radicals: A Pragmatic Primer for Realistic Radicals, Alinsky recommended “power tactics” to solve the kinds of problems that organizers and stewards often encounter. “Tactics are those consciously deliberate acts by which human beings live with each other and deal with the world around them,” wrote Alinsky.
1. Power is not only what you have but what the enemy thinks you have.
2. Never go outside the experience of your people. It may result in confusion, fear and retreat.
3. Wherever possible go outside the experience of the enemy. Here you want to cause confusion, fear and retreat.
4. Make the enemy live up to his/her own book of rules.
5. Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.
6. A good tactic is one that your people enjoy.
7. A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.
8. Keep the pressure on, with different tactics and actions and utilize all events of the period for your purpose.
9. The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.
10. The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition.
11. If you push a negative hard and deep enough it will break through into its counterside.
12. The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.
13. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it and polarize it.
We should all memorize these so we know where “they” are coming from..

I am convinved that Obama is doing all this stuff on purpose (putting out scary “lesson plans” and not giving details of the speech, NOT disclosing his birth certificate and other documents, etc.) for the sole purpose of making the conservatives look like right-wing nutjobs! And I’ve fallen for it…I read the speech the today and there was no need for a lesson plan that included things like “how can you help the President”. His message is pretty solid and if he had disclosed it last week, not many would have been so up in arms (including myself)…but no…instead I think that admin sits back and watches us all get our panties in a wad with the sheer enjoyment of knowing that we were going to be the ones being made fools of.
Pisses me off, truth be told.
September 8, 2009 at 3:36 pm
I don’t think those who oppose Dr. Utopia look like “right wing nutjobs.” He was the first one to fire the shot of having the students do the assignment. He only changed his tunes after heat got too high. If he had really wanted to deliver the message he delivered today, he could have done so apart from delivering it in the classroom. He can say he’s a nutjob, but he can’t say it to my kids without my hearing it first. He’s not entitled to unfettered access.
September 9, 2009 at 3:35 pm
The right-wing and conservatives are the only things holding back Obama and his cronies!
Look what they did to fellow Democrats last year – because they thought they could get away with it with fellow Democrats!
They’re not bullying Democrats now!

So..honestly then…do you think he really agrees? or do you think he is lying? I was in my early to late teens when he was president, so I didn’t really pay too much attention then..to know the difference. If he really does agree with Obama then I guess I am disappointed but I will move on..

I don’t consider myself among the “birthers”, as I am not convinced by any means that Obama is NOT a citizen, and until I see absolute proof of that, I will continue to believe as such.
However, what REALLY bothers me about this whole thing is that Obama’s defense team refuses to actually address the merits of the case. As stated in this article, Obama’s team will seek to block discovery.
WHY?!?!
This whole thing could be cleared up in a matter of days if he would just release the proof everybody seeks.
Think of the number of trees that have been killed to create the paper trail for this case… the carbon footprint that has been created… the taxpayer dollars wasted… the other folks who have to wait in line behind this case.
All could have been prevented by releasing the long form.
So why hasn’t it been done?
It’s a legitimate question and the people deserve an answer.
September 9, 2009 at 12:00 am
Yeah…though it is not beyond belief that it is true that he is not a citizen…?? I mean come on…that is also a possibility..after everything else we are learning…?? Could be something to it.
September 9, 2009 at 3:42 pm
If they are willing to go through all of this hassle of a cover up, then rest assured that whatever Obama is covering up is at least considered more damaging and and embarrassing than the hassle (well at least Obama would have to consider it that because Obama is the original Hyacinth Bucket).

What you speak of, the reinvention of the Dem Party, where manners and respectful discourse are non-existent as the O-pods continue to multiply in closets across the US for the One-where hypocrisy reins supreme, it is for that very same reason that I have left the Democrats.
In a previous post from last year, you spoke of an effigy of Sarah Palin at a club, how folks were given the opportunity to hit it with a bat, while using the most horrible epithets to describe her, including the c word- and here were the democrats flaunting this verbal abuse.
It made me sick to my stomach to see democrats, the party I grew up with, the one that supposedly fought for womens rights for all, suddenly become the party of hate moreso than any anti-government rabble rousing Montana camp like group. Your site was one of the first I had found that spoke to me in a way that no other democrats were offering.
I thought I was the only one who felt disgust at what I was seeing.
Thank you for your site
This is the root of the problem we have with the current incarnation of the Democratic Party. Obama’s personal records, school records and travel records will never be made public. They can’t. He worked his way through college and had his tuition paid and travel expenses, etc., by the CIA. Obama was a “researcher” for Business International Corporation, a long time CIA front organization. Look it up. His mother worked for the CIA before he did.
All of his documentation MUST be kept confidential as it is classified and considered under national security. Everyone accuses him of being a communist and he was working for the CIA! Just shows how wrong some people can be when they are desperate to slime someone..
