Here she goes again! Another ninja star expertly flung at the loony left via Facebook. H/t to Conservatives4Palin, one of our favorite sites, for keeping us always updated on Sarah Palin’s latest Facebook messages.
This time, Palin’s asking all of her Facebook friends, all 900,000 and counting, to watch Glenn Beck and help counter the loony left’s assault on him.
We’ve never watched Beck, and got rid of our cable and TVs in early summer, but we’re going to make it a point to read Beck’s webpage and watch his show at friends’ houses whenever possible — because Sarah Palin asked us to, and because Beck’s under assault for speaking the TRUTH. He is the latest victim of Alinsky methods employed by the left to take down any critics of the current administration.
Supporting Beck, regardless of it you personally like him or not, is important because in doing so you are also supporting everyone who will follow him…people who might otherwise be too afraid of the left’s Alinsky attacks to speak the truth, absent a strong public showing of support for Beck’s efforts to strike back at the left and MSM propaganda machine.
Sarah Palin is quietly, deliberately, and strategically mobilizing her supporters…in a way that only the leader of a real political movement can do. If she keeps this up, and her influence continues to grow while the left continues to degrade and malign her, the MSM is in for a huge surprise at some point — because the woman who is ridiculed and looked down upon from so many ivory towers will be the force that shakes said towers to their liberal foundations.
August 26, 2009 at 1:25 pm
Yes she will! You have to watch Beck…you will love him!!
August 26, 2009 at 1:35 pm
I know a lot of people here favored boycotting Dave Letterman’s advertisers over the Palin daughter joke. I agreed that the joke was in very poor taste, and I obviously support everyone’s right to boycott advertisers of Letterman, and so I have to equally support people’s right to boycott Beck’s advertisers if they don’t like what he has to say.
However, I am kind of sad at how easily the Boycott function gets tossed around these days. You know, boycotting used to happen to protest things like goods produced by slave labor, the 1980 Olympics which were held in Communist USSR during the cold war, and apartheid in South Africa.
Even the major historical boycotts I don’t agree with – like the Germans boycotting Jewish businesses in Germany leading up to and during WWII – were at least “BIG” in nature.
Now we are boycotting advertisers of comedians and talking heads. In a way, it’s boycotting particular forms of free speech.
Now don’t get me wrong… again I believe it’s everyone’s right to boycott whoever they like. I just like to offer a little historical perspective.
Personally, I didn’t get involved in Letterman’s boycott because I don’t watch Letterman. I felt it would be disingenuous for me to contact Letterman’s advertisers complaining about their support of a show I don’t even watch. That’s what’s happening now with Beck. People who don’t watch Beck – and probably never have – are haranguing his advertisers. And do you really think these people are ACTUALLY going to stop shopping at Wal Mart or using UPS? I mean boycotting Olive Garden would be one thing, but I couldn’t boycott Wal Mart even if I wanted to, and when it comes to shipping packages, I go with whatever is cheapest. FedEx and UPS are in the same store here in my town.
So to conclude my ramble, to everyone out there, I simply say “boycott wisely”. I encourage everyone to consider what it is you’re actually boycotting and whether or not you can genuinely say you’re doing the right thing.
I, for one, will defend Glenn Beck to the bitter end. The man speaks to me like nobody else on the air.
August 26, 2009 at 4:55 pm
Ditto EricP, 100%. Well said. Beck’s da bomb.
The only thing I boycott is Soros-owned Progressive Auto Insurance, and I do it con muy glee.
August 26, 2009 at 5:17 pm
And again, it’s one thing to make personal choices with regard to the first party. You don’t like Progressive because it’s owned by Soros. That’s fine, I have a problem with GE because of their CEO and the extreme bias of MSNBC.
So I do choose to boycott GE products whenever I can… but for me personally, boycotting Beck’s advertisers or Letterman’s advertisers would be kind of like boycotting some Taiwanese company that makes semiconductors for GE products because I didn’t like what GE was all about. It just doesn’t jive for me.
August 26, 2009 at 6:46 pm
On the surface I can see how you would look at what Letterman said as “poor taste” but it is a much deeper problem than that.
The new face of politics is to pick apart your perceived opponent at the very core of their being (using the family) by using a third party to do so. Make it look like entertainment gone awry. When, in fact, it is pre-mediated,calculated, cold-hearted attempt to end politicians who disagree.
That is also what sexism does. It wasn’t until the primaries that I took notice of how prevalent sexism is in our society. It is so embedded, so engrained that it is virtually impossible to separate it. Case in point would be the hits Sarah Palin took for “being pretty” (and explictive comments). That was, for many, an immediate disqualifier. Never mind that she was imminently more qualifed than BHO and she wasn’t even running for the Prez job.
August 26, 2009 at 8:24 pm
Ginger: true enough. Misogyny is definitely still a problem in this country, although mostly in the public spotlight only. Everywhere you look, there are TV shows and movies reinforcing strong female roles. It’s really just the main stream media that is perpetuating the stigma.
Just one of the many, many reasons that I simply stopped watching ABC, NBC, CBS, and CNN (all formerly part of my regular television-watching routine). Now I almost exclusively watch Fox News and Food Network.
Anyway… my point wasn’t really about the severity of Letterman’s comment, but the reaction to such. Personally, I feel it is enough to simply not watch Letterman. I know that if enough people don’t watch Letterman, there will be no need to boycott his advertisers because they will abandon him anyway. I’m just opposed to strong-arming a business for trying to make a buck, especially in this down economy. People who watch Letterman spend money too (yes, even people who laugh at misogynistic jokes).
It’s one thing to boycott GE for selling parts to the Iranians that might have been used to kill soldiers. It’s another thing entirely to boycott Angel Soft or something for advertising during a show where a disgusting joke is made. At least, that is my personal view. You may have a different one and I totally respect that.
August 26, 2009 at 5:34 pm
Beck’s ratings are at an all-time high, thanks in part to the publicity generated by the “boycott.” Does anyone seriously think Wal-Mart and other major advertisers are going to shoot them selvelves in the foot to placate a handful of anti-capitalistic leftists? They put their commercials where the most people in certain demographic groups will see them. The left is running scared. They fear Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and, yes, Sarah Palin, because they are enormously popular and effective. The more they attack on a personal level, the more we on the right of center support our conservative spokespersons. So go ahead, leftist loons, you pitiful bed-wetters, call for more boycotts.
August 26, 2009 at 11:15 pm
Boycotts do nothing. Jesse Jackson and the Rainbow Coalition wore them out.
August 26, 2009 at 1:35 pm
This is Wonderful, it made perfect sense to me that she stepped down as Gov to be able to hit the Left hard and from the outside. Gotta Love this Woman she is strong and knows her stuff.

Thank you so much for this link. We do not have cable tv, so we’ve been invading another family members’ house to follow this week’s Glenn Beck program.

You’re welcome.

Thank you so much! We do not have cable and one of the main reasons I wanted it was to be able to watch Fox News!

Here is last night’s show…..
August 26, 2009 at 1:46 pm
Sarah is proving extremely brilliant and strategic. She is taking away all the excuses I have heard of her not being strong enough to deal with the pressure and not having substance.
She has both and more!! She certainly energizes this Independent!!!
August 26, 2009 at 1:48 pm
This is what separates me from the naturals in cyberspace….I can’t figure out how to read Sarah Palin’s postings. I belong to facebook, although not sure how to navigate it, and signed on to Sarah’s page…but for some reason or other, don’t seem to find the comments everyone talks about. It must be me…but if anyone can explain how to simply go to her page and read what’s urrent…please let me know. I am starting to feel foolish.
August 26, 2009 at 2:04 pm
You need to do a search for Sarah’s page and then add yourself as a supporter. Make sure it’s her official page. Her profile photo today has her standing at the right with a orange/reddish suit on.
Once you add yourself as a supporter – all her posts will show up on your home page.
August 26, 2009 at 2:48 pm
Look at her “Notes” tab. Her postings are on there.

What is really stupid is that Beck blows away the competition – Chris Matthews runs a very distant 2nd. How can advertisers take a look at Beck’s #’s and believe that the letters they are getting from the left can hold a candle to the audience he generates?
Clorox pulled their advertising from his show, as well as all political shows. Here is their release:
Clorox holds true to our advertising standards and we hold true to our nation’s heritage of free expression of political opinions. However, consistent with our standards, we do not want to be associated with inflammatory speech used by either liberal or conservative talk-show hosts. After a comprehensive review of political talk shows across the spectrum, at this time we have made a decision not to advertise on them. Clorox has done very little advertising on political talk shows overall, and given the sometimes inflammatory nature of these shows, we feel our advertising investment is best directed elsewhere.
I think I’ll withhold the buy of my Clorox products until I can be certain they do exactly as they say, and not slip in an add on the Daily Show, or other such political shows.
August 26, 2009 at 5:24 pm
Not a bad idea… I’m all for accountability. Only problem for me is, I don’t and won’t watch the Daily Show anymore, or Olby, or Matthews.
I lost all respect for Matthews with the “shiver up my leg” comment. Olbermann had my respect for the first 7 seconds of the first show I watched. Then it was clear that I was watching an extremely angry and unbalanced individual who, in far-left hypocrisy, was decrying hate speech with hate speech of his own. Never watched him again, except occasionally on YouTube.
Stewart is fine I guess… I mean he’s a comedian, but my objection is that he’s a satirist who acts like a legitimate news man… and polls show he’s the most trusted figure in news. What a crock! That’s like saying Frank Caliendo is the most trusted name in football because he does a good Madden impression.
I know that’s not Stewart’s fault… but I still don’t like it so I don’t watch him.

Interesting to see Liberal blogger, Taylor Marsh on Twitter today. Said something about the end of the era of Kennedy and the beginning of the era of Palin.
I am sure the Left will have her head on a platter if they catch the heresy….
August 26, 2009 at 2:14 pm
Is Taylor Marsh still blogging? Haven’t heard that name in months.
August 26, 2009 at 2:22 pm
Yep.
I follow her on Twitter:

Glenn Beck really has been on a roll. I wrote more about it today:
http://thespeechatimeforchoosing.wordpress.com/2009/08/26/shocker-domestic-terrorist-bill-ayers%E2%80%99-running-buddy-jeff-jones-was-involved-in-writing-barack-obama%E2%80%99s-stimulus-package/
Also, as we are talking Sarah Palin, Obama has sent out union thugs to attack her on Facebook.
http://thespeechatimeforchoosing.blogspot.com/2009/08/barack-obama-sends-out-union-thugs-to.html
What an evil man Obama is.
How can we allow this to stand?
August 26, 2009 at 4:33 pm
Glenn Beck’s show today is powerful, everyone should watch it. He is exposing the FCC “diversity” Czar’s goal of shutting down private-sector radio at the local level, a guy who in 2006 is on tape praising Chavez’s revolution. Truly frightening research. I admire Beck for daring to dig into this.
August 26, 2009 at 4:51 pm

We certainly do live in interesting times don’t we.
Palin, Beck, Limbaugh, someday these names will be remembered right along side Jefferson and Washington.

EricP, both your posts are awesome…you are so right. I was actually quite sad about Letterman. He used to be one of my favorites, but his obsession with Palin is just over the top. I think the reason why boycotts are what people turn to, is because it’s really the only thing that people can do. Advertising is what pays for all the broadcast programming you see, and as we all know the only thing that makes anyone do anything is money. Just calling CBS and complaining will get you a “okay whatever”, but when a major sponsor of your show calls and says he’s got complaints and will pull their money out of your station or show, well, it sometimes works.
But like you, I don’t watch Letterman anymore and as I sad, I felt sort of sad over the whole situation, so I didn’t participate in this boycott.
But although I agree with most of what Beck is talking about, I respect the people who felt the need to boycott over what he says. The difference here in my mind, is that Letterman was being offensive to an individual…more of a social issue. Beck is not talking about Obama’s family or his Mom jeans or anything like that…he’s talking about the gov’t. Unfortunately for him, the minute he said the word “racist” and associated it with Obama, people were able to pull out the same kind of “social” card and start boycotting him on that basis alone.
What I DO think is funny is how this boycott will ultimately only hurt MSNBC because most that HAVE pulled their ads are doing so from all POLITICAL news shows…including theirs…doh!
August 26, 2009 at 8:36 pm
Exceptional point on your last paragraph. I’d like to see Olby off the air for good. When that guy turned up doing sidelines for football I almost had to turn the channel.
And again… I’m not going to criticize people for boycotting the advertisers if they feel the need, and I certainly have no problem with people boycotting the shows themselves. I just think it’s kind of tragic, in a way, that this is what our society has come to.
People basically resorting to strong-arming third parties who don’t care about what the host is saying, they’re just trying to reach the viewer.
I mean compare that to one of the first Boycotts (before the term “Boycott” was even coined), when the National Negro Convention held a boycott of goods produced by slave-labor. They boycotted the goods themselves… much like people who simply choose to boycott Letterman’s or Beck’s shows.
But boycotting Letterman’s or Beck’s advertisers would kind of be like boycotting the businesses who made the parts for the farm equipment that the slaves were using to work the land.
Is it effective? Yep, it can be.
Is it your right? Absolutely.
Is it the right thing to do? Well, I guess in a way, it could be the right thing to do, if it’s the ONLY thing you can do.
In many ways, our society has come to the point where boycotting advertisers IS about the only thing many of us feel like we CAN do. It’s a “weapon” that is available to the common man, and you get a bigger response from the companies than you do from Congress!
August 26, 2009 at 10:07 pm
hillbuzz, as you know, there are many, many Hillary supporters who support Sarah Palin, in fact, many actually voted for her and have her back and defend her when the lefties gratitiously go after her…
…that is why I was very, very disappointed to take a peek over at Conservatives4Palin and to see Hillary under attack over there…
…big disappointment…if you communicate with that site…please let them know they are barking up the wrong tree…we have their girl’s back…but if they start in on Hillary…that will be a big mistake…frankly i was very surprised when I saw that…
what’s up? word to the wise…hands off Hillary…we like Sarah but not if they back stab Hillary…we actually thought we were passed this BS…
August 26, 2009 at 10:17 pm
We can’t agree on everything. Some people are just not going to be able to like Hillary Clinton, same thing happens with Sarah Palin. I’ve been a bit concerned about Hillary myself. I think BO may have her boxed in to keep her under his thumb, so to speak. Sometimes HillBuzz puts up stuff I don’t agree with, but I just read it and let it go. One post does not make a site.
August 26, 2009 at 10:23 pm
And they took that post down…so it may have been an aberration.
August 26, 2009 at 10:30 pm
if they took it down then i am happy maybe they reconsidered that strategy…let’s remain above the nonsense…
August 26, 2009 at 10:35 pm
and MizzouGal…let me add that many of us are supporting Sarah’s next public moves…my point is, let’s keep it all positive…
August 26, 2009 at 10:29 pm
disagreeing is one thing, attacking is another…I think we all know the difference…I do not agree with Palin on everything but that does not mean i go in for the cheap shots like everyone else…no, instead I see the game being played on her and decide enough is enough…Hillary supporters know that misogynist, sexist game all too well…
Hillary is doing just fine…she is not, and never has been, a showboater…who needs lots of attention…in the meantime she is all over the world fighting for women’s rights, peace and exercising diplomacy without fluff…
August 26, 2009 at 11:23 pm
The one thing I appreciate about Beck is that he’s not ruled by partisan politics. He’s conservative/libertarian for sure, but if a liberal Democrat does something right, he will note it on his radio show.
Some partisan’s heads would explode if they had to admit Palin did something right.
The only problem with Beck is that he’s on too early in the West Coast and isn’t re-run until midnight.
August 27, 2009 at 3:53 am
Hm… he re-runs at 11 PM here (northwest). You gotta get DVR! :)
August 27, 2009 at 7:55 pm
Does anyone know if Beck picked up any new sponsors since the boycott started? If I had a product to sell, with his high ratings right now, I would pounce on his time slot. Any company with a brain would go where the viewers are. The company’s boycotting Beck aren’t very bright. Take your ad’s off a show attracting millions in support of? Brilliant!
