Dear HillBuzz,
In a previous letter to you I talked about the ordeal I went through getting my ex-partner David’s hospital bills paid by his company’s insurance company after he was injured on the job a few years ago. I offered this personal anecdote as an example of how to fight back at Corporate America when it’s in the wrong, but think it’s important to tell you and your readers more of the story to illustrate how important persistence is in dealing with large corporations that require time and relentless commitment before your message finally sinks in.
This is all, of course, pursuant to the ongoing boycott of David Letterman’s sponsors in relation to the jokes he made on June 8th and June 9th about the hypothetical statutory rape of 14 year-old Willow Palin by 33 year-old Alex Rodriguez during the seventh inning stretch of the Yankees game the minor child Palin daughter attended with her mother, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Today, we learned that The Olive Garden, Hellmann’s Mayo, and Embassay Suites are the first three advertisers to pull their support for David Letterman and his brutalization of young women in such sexist, misogynistic, and vulgar terms. Letterman offered up a weak “apology” riddled with excuses and justifications for his odious behavior (which in my book doesn’t amount to an apology at all — the way David’s mother, Louella, my ex-mother-in-law, used to apologize for the various terrible things she routinely did to me by saying, “Well, I’m sorry if you found that offensive, BUT…”). The moonbats, Obots, and trolls then came out in full force chanting, “it’s over! He said he’s sorry! Move on!” just when the tide’s turning and both Corporate America and Letterman’s handlers realize they’ve got a big problem on their hands.
The same thing happened to me in the three month letter-writing war I waged against what I’ll call the Mutual Benefit Insurance Company and David’s employer at the time, a retail giant I’ll call Boxco: just when we started to make some traction and get concessions out of Mutual Benefit and Boxco, Louella started telling David we should just give up, because we were never going to win, and were spending so much money on postage. ”Besides,” Louella concern-trolled to David, “Mutual Benefit offered to pay 25% of the bills, and that’s better than nothing.” I reminded Louella that paying 100% of the bills was better than settling for 25%, and Louella scoffed, “Well, if YOU can get THEM to pay 100% of David’s bills then I’m a monkey’s uncle.”
More like a cankerous and stinky baboon’s butt, in my opinion, but you see what I had to deal with for three years while living with David and being part of a relationship that including not just he and I, but also a very opinionated, perpetually wrong septugenarian long distance back in Richmond Heights, Ohio.
David’s hospital bills were $15,000, after having a seizure while at work operating some computer equipment, then cracking his head open on a work station as he fell to the floor and was knocked unconcious. His supervisor made the decision to call 911 before David regained consciousness, and he was in the emergency room at Northwestern Memorial Hospital (the most expensive in downtown Chicago, while other more affordable options were available) before he ever came to. From there, he was whisked through a dozen different MRIs and CAT-scans, racking up a bill in the thousands. The doctors decided, after a few hours, that those initial scans were all inconclusive, so they scheduled him for another round of scanning over the next two days, requiring him to rack up the majority of his hospital bill in what amounts to one of the world’s most expensive hotels.
David’s work called me, as I was his emergency contact person, and mercifully Northwestern gave me no trouble for being David’s male partner: I was allowed to see him, consult with his doctors, and make decisions about his care the same way I would have if we were a heterosexual couple instead of two gay men. David’s mother meddled in all of this from afar, the same way she would have, undoubtedly, if we were a heterosexual couple as well (and instead of being the unctious cartoon Louella, she was Pearl Slaghoople, or some equally cartoonish derivation thereof). Louella was 80% of the reason David stayed in the hospital as long as he did, while both he and I decided he was fine to go home (and that the hospital was just trying to rack up a bigger bill). David listened to Louella, however, and thus began the $15,000 battle.
And let me tell you, the hospital wasted no time in billing David. His injury happened on a Monday, and he was in the hospital until 330pm on Wednesday (we later found out that if he had been released at 259pm he would have only been billed for half a day on Wednesday, instead of the whole day that he was charged…which I’m SURE was just a coincidence). By Friday, we had the first of the many bills that arrived, with each doctor and specialist billing David separately.
Being a project manager, I just handled the process the way I would a landscape or construction project I worked on: treating each doctor as a subcontractor and bundling all their invoices into a binder as I began prep to fight this case. Also in project management mode, I spent hours at the library researching governing statutes and used a friend’s LexisNexis login to bone up on governing statutes and relevent precedents covering worker’s compensation and employees being seriously injured on the job, through no fault of their own, while operating work machinary in the course of their normal job duties.
I found at least three cases where various workers had seizures while operating work machines and somehow injured themselves, resulting in trips to the hospital after employer’s called ambulances. Just like David’s case. In all these instances, including one that happened at a bakery and another in an office where the machine in question was a computer, the employee’s medical bills were 100% covered by worker’s comp — just as David’s should have been.
Because, not being able to afford insurance at the time (and not being covered by my insurance in Illinois because this state does not require employers to treat two male partners like two heterosexual spouses), if given a choice, David would have either gone to the cheapest hospital he could find or would have gone to an Urgi-care center or Minute Clinic to get another opinion before committing to spending thousands of dollars on tests that ended up all being “inconclusive” (which, to me, still suggests the hospital believed all along those tests were doing nothing more than helping to pay for the new 128-bit GE CT-scanner that cost Northwestern a bundle).
The insurance company started denying David’s claim as soon as the bills started coming, and the very day a denial of payment would come in I’d use everything I researched to hit back, refuting everything the insurance company said. I quoted directly from both case law and federal/state statutes to show Mutual Benefit and Boxco why, precisely, they were wrong in denying this claim — further pointing out that under federal law both companies could make themselves open to civil suit on our part for willfully, capriciously, and arbitrarily denying a valid worker’s compensation claim and, thus, adding more needless stress to an injured worker.
Essentially, that law’s in there to prevent behemoths like Mutual Benefit from denying, denying, denying claims until an injured worker is bankrupt, homeless, or dead and the insurance company never has to pay out on its claim. If a claim is deemed valid by the worker’s compensation board — which David’s was, in all three hearings that were held — and a company just keeps denying it without substantive reason, the penalties were something like thousands of dollars for each act of capricious denial.
And there I was, keeping track of all those instances, writing a letter a day right up the bureaucratic chains at Mutual Benefit and Boxco. First, I wrote to just David’s claim supervisor, Maryann…and after I realized the game she was playing, I figured out who her supervisor was, and who that person’s regional manager was. Every letter I wrote I copied to two people above the person i was writing to — so that not only would the recipient realize I meant business, but she or he would wonder what those in the regional office were saying about what was going on in that department.
I just kept writing and writing and writing, with another letter of denial coming every day.
And every time I wrote, I included copies of all the letters I wrote beforehand as well.
Our living room became an assembly line for these letters. I had stacks and stacks of paper, all piled neatly, always ready to go. When I’d finish a new letter, I’d print out 30 copies, then work the assembly line to include copies of all the paperwork before it, with CC: to the entire C-suite at both Mutual Benefit and Boxco.
Then, I moved onto the Boards of Directors of both companies…and then I started CC-ing the local media in all the cities where these companies had offices. Of course, I was also copying the state and federal worker’s comp and labor department officials on all of this too.
Towards the end of the three months it took to get all of David’s medical bills paid, I had two pages of CC-ed people on each letter. I think the last batch of letters we sent out had 50 people copied on it.
Now, not everyone got every letter even if they were copied on it — that’s a little trick I pulled on Mutual Benefit. I would ALWAYS copy certain important people, like David’s claims supervisor and the CEOs of the companies, but then I’d pick 5 out of all the people I CC-ed to send actual packets to. Since I was mailing packets every day, I’d typically hit everyone on the list with at least one packet, so if they were in communication with one another, someone was always receiving SOMETHING. I just made it look like they were all getting every packet.
Just to make these people realize that the letter writing was never going to stop unless they did what they were supposed to do and paid David’s medical bills in full.
I also kept track of what I spent on the printing and postage of all the correspondence to convince them to do what they were supposed to do anyway, because as I understood the law if these people willfully, capriciously, and arbitrarily denied David’s claims and forced us to spend so much out of our own pocket to get them to do what they were supposed to do anyway, they should reimburse us.
Despite Louella every day saying I needed to just give up and accept the 25%, then 50%, then 75% that Mutual Benefit offered to pay of the medical bills, I held out for 100% payment (and ultimately received that, with a $1,000 settlement to cover our costs incurred in the investigation and resolution of this claim).
Louella wanted us to give up at 25% and kept telling David it was hopeless.
I knew we weren’t done yet, and that we had to be persistent.
Louella wanted us to give up at 50% and kept telling David I just needed to shut up.
I knew we weren’t done yet, and that it takes weeks before Corporate America takes anyone seriously.
Louella wanted us to give up at 75% and kept telling David that “Mutual Benefit is sorry, just tell him to move on to something else, that obsessive little French f***” (which is what she often called me).
I knew if we just kept up the assembly line that Mutual Benefit and Boxco would soon do whatever it took to stop the letters from coming.
And I was right.
So, I tell you this to remind everyone that David Letterman’s advertisers will indeed desert him, but the pressure must be kept on them to do so. It’s been about 9 days since Letterman made his vulgar “joke” about the statutory rape of Willow Palin by Alex Rodriguez. In just 9 days three major sponsors have abandoned Letterman.
Just imagine what his sponsorship deals will look like after 18 days…27 days…a full 30 days.
Maybe you can convince Mars Candy, Kelloggs, and Johnson + Johnson to drop him like Olive Garden, Hellmann’s, and Embassy Suites did.
I bet at least one of those will dump Letterman before 30 days is out.
But, the real victory will never fully be known because no matter how many sponsors actually drop Letterman publicly, the ad execs will surely use 30 days’s worth of boycott letters to negotiate much-reduced ad rates from CBS in the future. So you could be hurting Letterman in ways you will never understand, just by standing up against this leftist political activist and showing Madison Avenue and the CBS execs that he can’t get away with this misogyny anymore.
So, I remind you that nothing good has ever come from listening to trolls and Louellas. They either don’t know what they are talking about, or they want you to fail, for whatever reason. They also smell bad, have horrific teeth, and are twice-divorced publicly shamed adulteresses who live in glass houses and throw a lot of stones (at least in the case of my Slaghoople former mother-in-law, anyway).
Keep the pressure up, and see for yourself that determination and perseverence pay off big time in the end.

Thank you Sebastain for your encouragement. We will not give up. This is actually the first time I have called/written to protest. But, as a daughter, sister, mom, grandmother – this was too far over the line. I have two granddaughters – they need to learn by example that it is necessary at times to stand up for yourself and others. Thank you again. And, by the way, I love you essays

Sebastian ~
Thank you for your message. Just a question – did you ever contact the state insurance commissioner? I don’t know about Illinois (and from what I have learned here, you may not have gotten very far there anyway), but in most states, the insurance commissioner can really get through a lot of the stonewalling. Insurance companies are totally paranoid about any complaint that comes to the attention of the state officials. they have the power to yank their licenses to offer insurance in that state. Kinda gives the consumer some leverage.
June 18, 2009 at 10:49 pm
Kinda off the subject but I love this Michele Bachmann from Minnesota. She knows
how crooked Acorn is and she is not going
to stop making noise about it!! Read this article!

Faye,
Michelle Bachmann is AWESOME. She’s worthy of much, much praise for a great many things.
June 18, 2009 at 11:13 pm
Just one of the things she has done which I appreciate is to try to repeal the stupid light bulb law so that we will still be able to have incandescent bulbs in the U.S. after 2014. She hasn’t been successful, but at least she is trying. I’ll use the CFL’s for some things, but I’m not going to risk having one of those things break in my oven or refrigerator, and I really resent the government telling me I have to.
June 19, 2009 at 3:39 am
speaking of those bulbs, despite they are supposed to last 4 or 5 years, I had one go out on me this week. It was a year old. And I don’t know if this is normal or not, but that sucker was letting off SMOKE, which scared the crap out of me!

The “energy saving” bulbs make everything look dim…

More Gangsta Government is all we can expect. Stupid Americans got a taste of this during the election when the progressives went after Joe the Plumber. Now it`s Anita Moncrief and IG Gerald Walpin. Who`s next in Dr. Utopia`s thugocracy?
June 19, 2009 at 2:30 pm
YES SHE IS!!!!!!!
June 19, 2009 at 3:35 pm
She is awesome and I for one am going to do what she suggests.
June 19, 2009 at 6:55 am
She was one of the few that spoke up last fall about what a big mistake it was to bail out the banks. She spoke of ways to do it that would not cost the taxpayers all that money, like changing some of the accounting rules and other suggestions. She is a tax lawyer so unlike her counterparts in congress she actually knows what she is talking about. She disagreed with the Bush administration -her own party. Imagine that.
Chris Matthews interviewed her last fall, and went after her in the interview to try and make her slip up. I saw the interview and was appalled -at Chris Matthews. You know-the in the Chris Matthews aggressive way when he does not like someone. Then he took one thing she said and used all his media power to go after her for weeks after that. National donations donated and campaigned for her opponent. It nearly cost her reelection. I am from MN but not in her district – she is in a more rural area. We sent her $ to help her. Whew -she got re elected. I read after the election that people did not like the way she was treated by the media so voted for her. Good for those rural folks.
She consistantly has voted down all this big spending and speaks very well on the subject. But she keeps getting painted as a right wing -nut. Well- now look at the state of our deficit. I and my husband keep saying to watch out for this woman -she has got some hutzbah. She may be more socially conservative than many people but right now we need the fiscal conservative part of her as the Hillbuzz boyz have pointed out in the past. Those social differences aren’t what is so important at this moment– in times like this.
Her bio is on wikepedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michele_Bachmann (the chris matthew interview is described there under ‘Calling for the investigation of members of Congress’ Now as we see what is going on –she was not so nutty afterall in what she said.
June 19, 2009 at 8:33 am
Bachman is brilliant! If Sarah does not lead the ticket than Michelle should. She is a fighter. She was outspent and treated like crap in trying to keep her seat in the last election, but she still won. I love this woman! She is everything we fought for!
I understand that sponsors of letterman need to be targeted, but my #1 is still NOW. I am still so ticked that it took them two days to even respond, after our letters, and then gave a half-baked statement. Until they stand up for ALL women, they are going to hear from me.
June 19, 2009 at 9:48 am
Michelle Bachmann is finding her voice. She’s stumbled along the way on some cable programs, but she’s learning. You must see this video. I watched and I am so proud that she hails from my state of MN. It will fire you up.

Keith(the useless) Ellison is mine.
June 19, 2009 at 5:40 pm
Ellison is mine too.- worthless.
Isn’t it ironic that the people who have the “balls” in the GOP are females. When Palin entered the national scene last August the Obots had a mass hysterical seizure. Imagine what would happpen with a Palin/Bachmann ticket. Obamacare would be put to the test.

I would really like that. I am busy until after the 4th. The following week sometime? I live in the Lake Harriet area but can meet you anywhere.

Hey, Nee Nee, what is that site name again?

Not that YOU would do that, Lynn.

I’m with Rep. Bachmann…I’m not filling it out either, and good for her!
June 19, 2009 at 2:30 pm
i.m not either..
June 19, 2009 at 11:56 am
OK, I just read that I could be fined $5000.00 for refusing to fill it out, so I’m going to fill it all out wrong, and if I’m called on it, I’ll claim stupidity. Stupidity ain’t illegal…yet.
BTW, what in the HELL has happened to the Little Green Footballs site? They are all over there slamming Bachmann over this.
Charles Johnson, sitemaster of LGF, used to be a real American hero to me for exposing the Rathergate phony memos, but since Dr. Utopia was elected, LGF has become nothing more than a site for slobbering Dr. Utopia fans and endless concern troll-ism. Talk about capitulation to the Thugs!
June 19, 2009 at 3:38 pm
I’m pretty sure you just need to put in how many people live in your household. The other stuff they ask you is not required. They ask all kinds of crap that the federal government doesn’t need to know. Like where you keep your money, etc.
June 19, 2009 at 2:23 pm
I LOVE MICHELE BACHMANN!!!
Is this census, taken by ACORN for this particular administration, enough invasion of our privacy for this to turn into a huge “civil disobedience” movement? Just wonderin’.
June 20, 2009 at 10:09 am
I’m not filling out personal information that is not prudent to the census.
And if the Obama administration doesn’t like it, they can come and get me.
Thugs.

Aauuughh……..having just re-read the beginning of your essay, I noticed the operative words, “ex-partner”. Obviously the man didn’t know a diamond from a piece of quartz!
June 18, 2009 at 11:57 pm
Sebastian,
You are one amazing Dude. Keep following your natural instincts. You have talent and determination. I am talking about how you ignited the campaign to hold Letterman accountable. It worked. You motivated by example. It was contagious. Bravo.
June 19, 2009 at 5:05 am
Sent out another round of letters to the sponsors and CBS.
Thank you for pointing out how corporate America works and how long it takes for them to listen! We need someone to keep rallying us troops!
June 19, 2009 at 8:07 am
As a physician, it is daunting to read of your displeasure with the excellent, thorough, and prompt medical care your friend received at a top Chicago hospital. You write, after the fact, about how all those unnecessary tests were performed and how he should have gone to a “cheap” hospital or walk-in clinic. Ask the family of Natasha Richardson how “cheap, Canadian socialized medicine” worked for her. No CAT scan equaled death in her tragic case. Had some of those tests not been done, and he did have a serious cause for his seizure that went undiagnosed, I am sure you would be detailing your malpractice suit against those “stupid, careless, greedy doctors”.
June 19, 2009 at 9:06 am
Somerset,
He was not my “friend” — he was my partner. My husband. My spouse. For a physician, you certainly are either ignorant or possess poor reading comprehension or both.
And, unfortunately, those without medical insurance can’t afford all the tests at expensive hospitals. Some of us do need to choose between the best of the best hospitals and those that are more affordable — David was not allowed to choose when his employer made that call for him. There are people every day in this country who have to choose between buying food and paying rent or buying their medications. It’s not right, but it’s reality.
David would not have incurred a $15,000 bill if not for his employer’s decisions — which is why worker’s comp said his employer needed to cover all of it. If your reading skills were better, you would see this is the point of the column — and that the letter writing we needed to engage in was to force the insurance company to do what it was legally required to do in this instance.
And as a “physician”, I hope in the future you show more respect to people when talking about their “friends”.

June 19, 2009 at 9:11 am
Yes, yes, but how much was charged because the name over the door was Northwestern?
June 20, 2009 at 3:48 pm
It would be nice if the care landed somewhere between stealing from someone’s lifetime coverage to pad the bill for the hospital.
And trying to get the doctor to actually do his job at the most basic level….listening to the patient.
Nurses can hear exactly what you said without fail…the first time…every time.
Doctors have to be told over and over and over what the probelm is, and they still hear something completely out of left field. While any idiot knows the nurse wrote it down for them as well.
So, how is someone supposed to trust a doctor that can’t read or hear their patient’s symptoms properly?
June 20, 2009 at 6:27 pm
Karma,
Any idiot knows that trust goes both ways. Get a second opinion.
June 20, 2009 at 8:05 pm
It wasn’t something that needed a second opinion it was that basic…lol.
And what would be the point of getting a second opinion….if the next doc was the same big headed fool who doesn’t listen well either?
Dealing with two fools takes twice as long.
Besides, I am not naive enough to think a doc can’t read or listen properly. It is their choice to treat people like that.
Dealing with jerks is a part of life. Even within the doctor’s office.
June 20, 2009 at 8:09 pm
correction….
‘….to think a doc ‘truly’ can’t read or listen properly.
June 23, 2009 at 4:18 pm
It seems even Obama’s doctor (the one page write up on his health) has noticed the change in doctor-patient conversational skills. They aren’t being taught how to do the physical exams now.
http://www.forbes.com/2009/06/18/obama-doctor-knocks-obamacare-business-healthcare-obamas-doctor.html
“Scheiner thinks that any health reform should involve paying primary-care doctors better so they don’t have to rush through appointments to make ends meet. He says that the medical students he encounters are no longer even taught how to do a patient history and physical exam. Patients get imaging studies and lab work instead of actual work-ups. “It’s like in Star Trek where Bones had the thing he would wave up and down. They don’t even talk to patients,” he says.”
h/t NQ.
June 23, 2009 at 4:26 pm
Oops…meant to add…
He also confirms Sebastian’s experience of expensive testing.
June 23, 2009 at 7:23 am
i really don’t think the docs were trying to bilk anyone. even if your partner had gone to a ‘cheaper’ clinic(hate that word, btw, in implies inferior care which i don’t believe there is) they probably would’ve sent him to get the very same tests. the difference is that at a hospital they do a barrage of them as part of your care, where as if he’d gone to a clinic he probably would’ve ended up making numerous appointments to have the same tests run, thus taking up more of his time and resources.
also, it behooved your partner’s employers, NOT your partner, to foot the bill, that’s what work comp is for and probably why your partner’s insurance denied. you got screwed around big time, but i don’t think it was the docs or the hospital. without knowing his medical history, the prudent thing would be to run a barrage of tests to find out why your partner had the seizure in the first place. seizures, like rashes, are very difficult to diagnose, and in this day and age of malpractice the doctors understandably would err on the side of caution. actually, we want them to, otherwise there’s the real chance that something will be missed, as in the case of Natasha Richardson.
either way, your experience is a superb and shining example of persistence paying and the lesson has not been lost on me. thank you for sharing.
June 19, 2009 at 8:15 am
Hillbuzz!
Thanks for all the direction in this protest.
The most helpful fact that I have taken from your advice is about the impact an actual, concrete letter has, sitting at the corporate offices. An phone call can be forgotten or an e-mail deleted; but, a piece of paper has a power with the very presence of its physical self.
For example a piece of paper in the office of Mars that equated their candy with child rape bait would, with a doubt, provoke long-term consternation in The Excutive Suites. They can continually return to the actaul letter to remind themselves just how dire the situation reallly is. And that it is all Letterman’s fault.
Again, Thanks for all the advice and direction in this project!

I know this is off topic too, but I felt is was important to know, because no one seems to be reporting it. The shoebomber will no longer be on vacation in Gitmo. He will now go to a real prison where he can be treated the way he should be, like a criminal. As Mr U gets out to sell us on his unqualified nominee, this is the kind of judge we should be getting on the Supreme Court:

JRD, let’s make it a daily double-
Here’s a link to Rasmussen, showing that obama’s approval index (those strongly approving of the dolt- those strongly DISapproving of the dolt) is down to +1 percent:

Which means only 1% more really like him than hate him.
Things, they are gettin’ tight for obama.
The fumbling of Iran and NoKo, as well as his stimulus/giant jockstrap showing no positive effect are starting to drag this punk down.
BwaHAHAHAHAHAHAH.

I sent another email to NOW. Not that it will do any good:
As a young woman, I was a charter member of NOW. I really believed that this organization would represent me. But it became increasingly evident that the movement for women’s rights, only applies to liberal women. While you applaud women who work, you do nothing to praise those of us who gave up our careers to raise our children. I could go on with my dissatitisfaction with your organization over the years, but I really want to address your lame and half hearted “defense” of Sarah Palin. The crap she has to put up with is never given to a man, and your group allows it to continue because you refuse to represent conservative women. You should be in uproars at the comments Letterman made about her daughters and flight attendants, but instead, you issue some half-hearted statement. And when I send complaints to you, the only response I get is an offer for membership! I would not join your group if YOU paid ME!
By the way, before you cross me off as another right wing nut, get this. I am actually prochoice because I believe the government should stay our of our lives, in every way. I am more liberal on many social issues, but I believe the left wing nuts who are now conTROLLing our country are doing it irreputable harm.
Get off your high horse, one issue platform, and start speaking out for women of ALL political persuasions or we will never break the glass ceiling. The Michelle Bachman posts are right on!
Last night (after a day of no-computer hell) I caught up on the last 2 days of HB.
One poster praised Michelle B. for staying on top of the census thing. Out of curiosity, I googled 2010 Census Questions. Omigod . .
It’s a 65 page book that took about a half hour to flip through. Now, even though they have a disclaimer on every section—such as “on census form since 1980″—I can’t believe some of the stuff they want to know. Since 1970, I’ve filled out five census forms and honestly don’t recall feds wanting to know how long it takes me to go to work AND what time I leave my house!! I can just imagine a slimy ACORN ex-con selling that little piece of info!
And all the politically-correct multi-cultural questions such as: “How many people live in your house now? Person 1, are they Mexican/Colombian/Puerto Rican/ Central American/South American. . . how many people used to live with you but are not currently in your home? (1 possible response to that one is ‘jail’). Write their current address here.” This is a paraphrase, but you get the idea.
Our town is overrun with at least 5,000 Hispanics—90% of whom local law enforcement says are illegal. If the Census Bureau thinks that most of them will fill this out, they are deluded loons. Maybe if you offer something “free” they would consider it, but most are here to hide.
Oh, and another thing the Census wants to know is how you heat/cool your home and what it costs you to do so. AND how big it is. I think that’s been on previous censuses, but can’t you see Big Brother Benito now taking the stats of my 1879 Victorian with 12 rooms and telling us we’re using too much energy?? And down the road, maybe a la Flint, Michigan the Federal Bulldozers will come in and destroy it because of its inefficiency.
Folks, we are juggling a lot of balls in the air—Sarah/Letterman, healthcare. But so is Benito. If we can pull off an upset of healthcare, as we did amnesty bill a few years ago (not to mention Sarah) then that will put a major puncture in BO’s spending plan.
Three new questions in the 2008 ACS gather data about health insurance coverage, marital history, and military service-related disability status.

I know that some people got a longer form of the census that contained some of the questions you mentioned. I know they have a formula they use to randomly select individuals in an area for the longer form. While it may seem big brotherish, the data is actually used by nonprofits, local governments and businesses for planning.
All that said, the idea of the next census being controlled by the White House scares me. It also disappoints me that they may twist the census to give them numbers they want.
I have a respect for the census that are available for us to view. Thus, I hate the idea that what will be seen in about 70 years could be very inaccurate.
June 19, 2009 at 1:46 pm
I did the long form back in 1990 when I was selected. It is pretty invasive. But that was long before ACORN got involved.
June 20, 2009 at 3:35 pm
I have my doubts about how random it is.
We’ve had to fill out three long forms in 20 years. We were picked for the American Community Survey as well, in between the real census.
Which brought a huge, creepy, dude that hid his badge from view while claiming he was part of the census in an off year. Parked for a quick get away no less.
Anyway, each time one of the census workers came to the door we had already sent the form off. So trying to explain to the workers repeatedly that I wouldn’t fill out another form. Would only inspire various legal threats as I responded by pointed out the legal threat at the bottom of the page which negated theirs.
So then they would call and come by at weird times trying to find anyone else in the household to help them defraud the govt.
The thought of ACORN going do to door with quick to threaten census ‘powers’ isn’t going to go well.
I wouldn’t doubt it if they scanned the information themselves prior to handing it over the govt. That much information is worth big bucks. And they ask questions that I don’t know about my own father they are so personal.
Which leads me to this question.
Is letting ACORN run the census actually a way to channel funds covertly to them? Selling that data would be a source of income for an entire decade.
I was worried about them packing the voter rolls with real names since Mickey Mouse blew his cover in 2008.
But selling that data would keep the money coming in long past the census.
June 20, 2009 at 7:53 pm
I am concerned, also, about ACORN being in charge of the 2010 census. Also, I think
that many of the questions are intrusive
into our personal privacy. Why do agencies absolutely need some of the information in order to operate adequately?? I had to fill out a between-censuses form a few years ago. Didn’t answer several questions,
so I got a (2?) phone call from a man who said
that he would pester me
with calls until I answered ALL of the questions, even tho I
told him that I considered some to be
intrusive into my privacy.
June 20, 2009 at 8:37 pm
Wow…they sent you a creepy one too.
It makes you wonder what the census worker’s training consists of?
Geez…the manual is probably printed on a half page…they fall back on threats so quickly.
Those questions are so intrusive I haven’t figured out why the govt thinks they need that information.
But as a result my husband and I have a running joke that ‘they’ use the info to tweak everyone’s expenses higher if the masses were too comfortable after running the numbers.
So, the govt would raise the gas tax, utilities, property taxes, etc, ensuring that everyone would have to run a little faster on their hamster wheel. Until the next census when everyone finally caught up again.
Lame joke….but once again who needs that much detail?

Does “hermaphrodite” equal “slutty stewardess”??
Katie Couric used the term when surprising local gay radio host Jason Matheson on his radio show. Matheson claims to have a “Silence of the Lambs-type” shrine to Couric at his house.
Said Matheson: “I’m just a simple little gay boy with a crush on Katie Couric.”
“Get in line,” said Couric with a sassy, guttural aplomb. “For whatever reason, I have some gay fans. I am very flattered my gay friends enjoy my work. Gay, straight, I’ll take anybody at this point, hermaphrodites.”
Longtime Minneapolis Star Tribune gossip columnist C.J. demonstrated how that “goddess” Katie Couric can make jokes about her own horrendous ratings, now setting a new low of 5.18 million viewers, the lowest in at least 17 years.
The article is headlined “Shrine to Katie Couric brings a call from the goddess herself.” In the video accompanying the story online, Matheson plays the CBS open on his iPhone, complete with Cronkite voiceover and Couric declaring “Hi everyone. I’m very happy to be with you tonight.”
There’s no word from the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation to suggest Couric’s joke was considered too insulting to actual hermaphrodites or “transgendered” Americans.
What’s the old saying, Katie? “If you don’t laugh, you’ll cry . . . “

I see “Cash for Clunkers” passed yesterday, attached to a war-funding bill. Dealers hope this will revive slumping auto sales.
Consumers who trade in their gas-guzzling clunkers for more fuel-efficient models –will get “up to” $4500 toward a newer, more higher gas mileage model.
Under the program, trade-in vehicles (1984 models or newer) must have average fuel economy of no more than 18 miles per gallon. And the new car or truck must get better gas mileage than the one that was scrapped.
The payoff grows depending on the difference in the fuel efficiencies of the old and new cars. For instance, a new car getting at least 4 more miles per gallon than the old car will be eligible for a $3,500 voucher. A new car getting at least 10 more miles per gallon would get a $4,500 voucher.
Supposedly the old vehicle has to be registered to the owner for at least a year, and be road worthy. And this program only goes until Nov. 1—although some in Congress are pushing for expansion.
So how long will this be “voluntary?” What happens when Benito doesn’t get the numbers coming forward to trade? And what happens to the clunker? Does it go to the crusher or auctioned to a used car dealer who simply puts the guzzler back on the road?
On another website, a poster said “If you take a look at the ‘participating dealer list’ you see that there are all of 84 dealers – many of them duplicated across manufacturers – that have decided to participate as of this date. Doesn’t look like hoards of dealers are entirely too anxious to jump onboard, and there are entire STATES where there are – at present – no participating dealers.”
Another poster brought this up: “This is another example of the Federal government meddling in private business, in which policy benefits a select few. Where does this leave the many city dwellers who don’t own cars? Or those of us who have always driven more fuel-efficient cars? I don’t want to pay for my neighbor’s trade-in!”
If this becomes mandatory, Benito will have to forcibly make me surrender my 2008 Town & Country van! Better to leave it sit in the garage than give it up for less than 20% of its purchase price . . . I’d just wait it out, undriven, until a Republican gets in office & dismantles this bill!
June 19, 2009 at 2:42 pm
I saw something on Fox about this a few days ago, so my memory is a bit foggy. Part of the news story was about how many rules and regulations are in the bill. One thing that I found interesting is that you can’t get a trade in deal from the dealer as well as get the cash applied to your deal. Also, the dealers get the money from the government, you do not get the money. Also, the drive train and engine are yanked out of the car, so I guess the rest of the car goes to the junkyard. That is where it got real confusing to me.
What really got me is that as long as the new car gets just a few more miles per gallon, then you are eligible for this deal. I thought that it would require getting a car that was hybrid or something. If a car gets 4 more miles per gallon than your current car, then you are eligible for the deal.
June 19, 2009 at 6:06 pm
My brother has 2 pieces of crap he uses for work One of themn isn’t even worth $200.
How quickly will the scam come about for buying junkers at a demo lot, having friends in the DMV forge registration and then trading it in
This cash for clunkers was set up to scam the taxpayers out of money by those “in the know”. The Dems in congress made sure of that. So they sneak it in a war bill
June 20, 2009 at 1:04 pm
I was listening to a car show this morning. The dealers were saying the cars would be crushed. Also, they are very wary because they do not trust the current government to reimburse them the $4500 in a timely manner or at all. They also mentioned that is not just for clunkers. A lot of people will have fairly new cars that they can trade in for a slightly better mileage car; however the owners will make more money just by selling the car. So they don’t think a lot of people will take advatange of the program.
June 20, 2009 at 2:19 pm
Jim Farley, Ford V.P., was on Fox this morning (Saturday). While I didn’t hang onto his every word, I ‘believe’ he said that Ford is offering their own incentive plan in which if one trades in a gas guzzler, Ford will pay up to $4,500 off the price of a new Ford hybrid Lesser amounts are paid toward the purchase of non-hybrid models in the Ford line that meet the government-mandated MPG standards. Perhaps his appearance is Googleable?

I was trying to figure out how to address the issue of Palin’s acceptance of Dave’s rationalization of his monologues in my letters. I came up with this paragraph:
“I appreciate that Governor Palin was gracious enough to accept Mr. Letterman’s rationalization for his Mon 8 June 2009 and Tues 9 June 2009 monologues on behalf of her family. However, the debasement of women through sexist and misogynistic language is an issue that affects not just one family, or one political party, but all people who wish to live a society free from threats of physical violence just because the victim happens to be a member of a race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, political affiliation, or any other group that the harasser happens to hate.”
Any editorial comments?

That’s very good. I agree; it is not just about Palin, it is about all women and girls.

HOUSE DEM WAYS TO PAY FOR BENITO’s PROPOSED HEALTHCARE:
*Dime-a-can increase in the price of soft drinks.
*Higher alcohol taxes
*Increases to the Medicare payroll tax
*VAT (or value-added tax, a sort of national sales tax, of up to 1.5 percent or more)
Which strata of Americans would this affect most? The e-e-e-e-v-i-l rich? Nope. Most likely those less wealthy citizens who earn under $30,000 per year.
Maybe they can pay these taxes with that extra $13 per paycheck Benito gave them last spring.
Benito and his party are so full of sh**.

This is so sickening! I really hope that this stuff isn’t pushed through. All those are unfair taxes that will hurt lower-middle income people! Vat is just another way to weasel more money out of people. So let me see, if I buy a soda that is already 1.60 with sales tax, I’d have to add on 10 cents, so 1.70, then with the VAT B.S., it would probably be 2-3$ for a small bottle of soda. Disgusting. Then again, I hear that it’s sugary sodas they are after.. and I don’t drink those. But still, this disgusts me!
Oh.. and I heard that it’s actually ALL sugary drinks.. which means, the Obots will literally be paying to
“drink the koolaid” once they tax that as well. haha

You know, some loser came up to me and said “Hey Al! Sarah Palin accepted Letterman’s apology! You can stop now”. I told him, I won’t stop boycotting CBS until the following things happen:
1. Letterman and his little lapdog Craig Ferguson (is it possible to write Immigration services to get this freak deported?) are fired
2. The failure of all the albums of every musical guest that appeared on his show since last week ESPECIALLY that Phoenix group last night – who i’ve never heard, but I immediately hate because stupid indie rock kids and idiot music critics (I hate critics. All of them) like them
3. Letterman gets his kid taken away from him. A man who makes sick jokes about baseball players raping 14 year olds is clearly an unfit parent
4. Alex Rodriguez is banned from Baseball (because clearly he has to be some sort of sexual deviant for the joke to made in the first place)
5. Letterman’s favorite bands – Foo Fighters and Phish – denounce him publicly
6. CBS also cancels that “NCIS” show i’ve been boycotting for a long time because it features a goth person in a positive light.
This person said I was a neo-con idiot. I came close to punching this guy – the loser husband of my loser sister – in the face in the middle of a supermarket.
June 20, 2009 at 1:46 pm

That “Sharpton” factor you discussed… Oh Jeez……This Sheriff is very well liked in Arizona.

June 19, 2009 at 11:32 pm
I don’t think he realizes the race card has been retired…
June 19, 2009 at 11:58 pm
You won’t see this reported anywhere outside of Phoenix but we who live here know what happened. Our much loved Sheriff Joe backs down for nor takes a back seat to anyone – including Sharpton. People were expecting the proverbial “shoot out” but Joe kept his cool the whole thing was quite civil – even after all the crap Rev. Al spouted earlier in the day doing his radio program from here.If the news media makes a big deal out of anything that happened today, it will all be hype cuz nothing of any importance happened. Al met w/ Joe and that’s all there is to tell.
Yes, indeed! Sheriff Joes is VERY well liked in Arizona. He does his job the way the vast majority of the LEGAL citizens want him to. That is why we keep electing him. He doesn’t do any racial profiling and he calls it like he sees it or finds it. He’s one hellava guy & we’d walk over hot coals for him if he needed it. But he can more than take care of himself and Al Sharpton is no match for him. This will be a non story from here on out and those who brought him here wasted a whole lot of time & ACORN who paid him to come wasted a whole lot of our tax payer $$$ to get him here. The amount was outrageous – something like 27K but I’m not 100% sure of that.
June 20, 2009 at 12:09 am
frankie, you have my hero Sheriff Joe? He is great, isn’t he? I am glad you posted about him. I always wondered if the people loved and appreciated him.
June 20, 2009 at 9:55 am
TXMom, before I lived here, I admired Sheriff Joe from the articles & emails I’d see about him. Since living here, my admiration has quadrupled & then some. He is fair & fearless! The media that was here yest. portrayed his supporters with a pic of a guy with a gun on his hip (we’re a right to carry state), a woman with a megaphone, and a neo nazi. Supporters of Joe come in all shapes & sizes, colors & creeds. Even some former “residents of his tent city now support him. He may not shy away from a camera or a microphone but he is honest, fair and he does the job that the people who continually vote him into office want done. Those who are against him are those who think that the illegals have every right to be here and that Joe is targeting them. He says anyone – legal or illegal – are only pulled over if there is probably cause. The vast majority of us believe that. A handful of Leftists don’t and are trying to paint him as a racial profiler. There are so many levels to Joe but a racist isn’t one of them.
June 20, 2009 at 1:15 am
everyone loves what sheriff Joe is doing except the liberal left and democrats in Cngress. They count on illegal immigrants ( and the dead) to get them voted into office.
The MSM will back the left but it will not fly with the public

Government programs = failure & waste in most people’s minds.
So why do some of our citizens want to jump on the government healthcare bandwagon??
As others on this site have pointed out, Medicare & Medicaid are dangerously close to imploding—along with Social Security. Just this week my doctor told me that Medicare reimbursements are pathetic. A $700 price tag procedure MAY get him $200 from MCare. Factoring in overhead, he makes precious little on said procedure. If reimbursement cuts continue, along with National Healthcare, future doctors will have no incentive to go into the medical field. If it weren’t for big bucks, would YOU want to live having your personal life constantly disrupted to be on call 24/7??
Nationalized Health Care in England & Canada is wretched. Canadian citizens, especially, who need critical surgery or urgent diagonistic procedures, choose to come to the U.S. instead of waiting their turn. I’ve had several Canadian customers in my antique shop who said, “Don’t EVER go to our healthcare system. You—as well as we Canadians—will regret it.”
Two things come to my mind:
1. Think about how all of us pay property taxes to support public education. Okay, my kids are gone & I have no vested interest anymore. But for the common good of future generations—okay. Lots of parents in my town opt out of the public schools in favor of Lutheran/Catholic parochial schools. However, they are still getting taxed for their non use of the public system.
Similarly—even as our taxes support public schools we don’t patronize—more of our tax money will go to fund Obamacare. So those of us with good private healthcare would like to keep it, rather than go into the government plan. At some point though, many of us would throw in the towel and go along with Benito’s plan. Private insurers would then go bust, leaving no options.
2. Biggest reason that many socialized medicine countries (think Europe & Canada) can support government Healthcare?? Their countries have virtually no NATIONAL DEFENSE BUDGET! The good old USA has been taking care of that since the end of World War II.
How liberals can blame capitalism for this mess is beyond me. BECAUSE of capitalism we enjoy the American standard of living & have a higher life expectancy. If some think government-run countries are so great, then why don’t they relocate???
June 20, 2009 at 10:58 am
From post on another site:
The Canadian Supreme Court ruled the Health Care System violates Quebec’s rights charter as it collects taxes for health care, doesn’t deliver, and forbids competition.
I’m quoting: “A place in a queue is not healthcare.”
June 20, 2009 at 6:52 pm
Thanks NeeNee for your post. This health “reform” is the issue that we all should be focused on. If passed, very little chance of repealing it.

Bit lighter topic than Healthcare, which we need to stay on top of & defeat at all costs, but just as disgusting as most everything the Obama’s are a part of……..
Have you seen the picture of the guy skateboarding!!! down the polished, pristine floors of the White House. Pic is on Drudge. Can these people disrespect us or the Home of the People any more than this??? This basically gives the finger to all of us because that is not so much “their” house as it is OUR house. They may reside in the upper level quarters, but where this guy is skateboarding is the main level with belongs to WE THE PEOPLE!!! I am outraged at this……..but what’s new. Every day brings a new outrage with these people.
Prior to seeing the skate boarder, I was pitching a fit about MO being the keynote speaker at the Ntl Conference on Volunterring and Service – the parent organiz. to Americorp which had it’s Inspector General fired for blowing the whistle on Americorp fraud. It was rumored that MO had her fingers in that whole deal. Not sure her speaking at the CNCS conference comfirms that but it is still mighty suspicious – and yet another outrage. Whole store at home page of
http://www.michellemalkin.com. Another good read while you’re there is the background of MO in her high paying job in Chicago where she shuffled all the poor people from her hospital to other facilities so a better class of people who could pay were at the place she worked at. These people are beyond belief!!!

Interesting comment from Shepard Smith earlier tonight.
Video of thousands of people protesting. Iranian woman guest says that figures are up to 60% of young people who are pro-revolution. Shep says “Just think if the numbers of OUR people took to the streets like this. But you know the difference between the two countries? The Iranian people DON’T. HAVE. GUNS. And that’s what would get the job done.”
So do we think Benito isn’t going to put gun control (read: taking away citizen’s weapons) on the table one of these days??
June 20, 2009 at 9:03 pm
Gun control very soon. Very soon. Neenee, you know how we have been hearing that the Dems are getting a little nervous and squeamish about the healthcare bill? Guess what? It is about everything. We have a gentlemen who is an incumbent of about 20 years who has hardly ever had anyone run against him. He is extremely scared this time around. The tea parties are making a big difference. People are more involved and informed now. We are pounding them with letters and phone calls on everything!
People from the Tea Parties are now running for Congress; and the incumbents are seeing it for the first time. Folks, plan on going to your July 4th Tea Party and tell them that we have had enough!
June 20, 2009 at 9:10 pm
Neenee. I apologize; but another thing. :)
I just heard that 40% of the people protesting, dodging bullets, and beatings are women. Where is NOW? Why aren’t all the brave defenders of women screaming about this?
June 20, 2009 at 10:21 pm
TxMom and Nee Nee:
This is BIG.
This is bigger than a jerk like Letterman.
We need to support the Iranian people to FIGHT against their dictators.
But the difference between them and us?
We are FREE and they are not.
STAND UP for the people of Iran, who are fighting for something that WE take for granted.
STAND UP!
June 21, 2009 at 12:35 am
This is even getting a mention from Vin Scully, who is the Dodgers announcer and the VOICE of baseball. Tonight during that late innings Vin mentioned all the Twitter stuff for the Dodgers. And then he added “you know, most of the population of Iran is under 30, they keep up with what is going on with Twitter…….”
My husband just looked at me and said “Vinny’s getting political?”
We have been listening to this man for over 40 years, this is a first!
These people are fighting for their freedom.
God bless them!!

Fortunately our constitution gives us the 2nd amendment. Specifically so this does not happen… IF we can manage to keep it…

Stand up for the Iranian people, who have been under a religious dictatorship for 30 years.

I think it`s time for us to start e-mailing our congressman and senators to do something about these ACORN thugs. Gerald Nadler, Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the Congressional Progressive Caucus refuse to have investigations into ACORN. ACORN is exploiting poor, indigent, mostly Afro-Americans. The real problem with ACORN is the money. Now ACORN is suing the whistleblower Anita Moncrief and the ACORN 8. How can Dr. Utopia allow ACORN to exploit his people. This is just more of the “Chicago Way.” I fired off e-mails and phone calls to my Congressman and 2 Senators. Please people I beg you to do the same. These mostly WHITE progressives running ACORN are a cancer in America. George Soros and his friends the Sandler`s are included also. I can`t think of anything else to do. These people are despicable.
June 22, 2009 at 10:43 am
JRD asked: How can Dr. Utopia allow ACORN to exploit his people.
Well then, how is it Jesse and Al are allowed to exploit their people and are considered heores?Kevin at http://www.theblacksphere.blogspot.com gives a crash course on the subject.

DEMOCRATS FLEEING OBAMA HEALTHCARE PLAN
As the estimates keep growing for his massive planned overhaul of American healthcare, even members of President Barack Obama’s own party are jumping ship.
The majority Democrats no longer have the votes to push through a plan now estimated to cost $3 trillion, and Republican leaders are calling it dead in the water.
Whoo-whoo!! Guys, this is great. You can’t tell me all of our emails/faxes/letters & phone calls aren’t working! This monster can and is being slowed down.

Not according to Chuck U. Screwmer. He is quoting the bogus poll in yesterday`s N.Y. Slimes
June 22, 2009 at 8:58 am
If , after reading all the articles you can on government-run health care, you still do not believe that the quality of health care will wane or that we will be rationed because of economics or “fairness” (according to Daschel and Dr. Emanuel), then please consider the mindset of these people.
I was listening to a national talk show last night. The talk show host was arguing that we have the best health care in the world and the best research and development. The whole world uses our discoveries and inventions in medicine. People come from all over the planet to the United States to get medical care. Why would we want to destroy it?
Bob Beckel replied with, ” We spend millions on research and come up with new medication or development every year that people don’t really need. The majority of medical expenses goes to the patient’s last three years of life. These people live years past what they should. We are talking about disease here.”
Read what Beckel said again and let it sink in. My husband and I sat there in amazement as we listened to this cold-hearted fool.
Please continue to contact your representatives about this monstrosity.
June 22, 2009 at 9:37 am
I usually hit the “mute” button as soon as Beckel opens his mouth. I can only take so much of him.
June 22, 2009 at 10:14 am
You’re braver than me. I switch to another channel the minute I see his face. And I thought Colmes was annoying …
June 22, 2009 at 10:21 am
Here’s a shocker.
“Americans overwhelmingly support substantial changes to the health care system and are strongly behind … a government-run insurance plan to compete with private insurers, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll.” WHAT?
“The poll found that most Americans would be willing to pay higher taxes so everyone could have health insurance and that they said the government could do a better job of holding down health-care costs than the private sector…” YOU ARE KIDDING, RIGHT?
“Of course we are by now used to our one party media heavily over-sampling Democrats to prove to us how popular their agenda is. But this latest New York Times poll would even make the Mullahs in Iran blush. So, in their wisdom, The Times saw fit to solicit the views of Obama voters over McCain voters by a margin of 48 to 25 percent. But what the heck. The Times had to find a way to advance their mission.”
NO, THEY WERE NOT KIDDING. THEY WERE LYING!

June 22, 2009 at 9:01 am
two days in a row, obama in negative approval territory-
As of this morning, President Soft Serve’s approval index is at -1. That is, 1% more people strongly DISAPPROVE of his work than strongly approve of it.
This is per Rasmussen. Yesterday it was at -2.
Sad to say, after ABC’s shamwow broadcast of Dr. Utopia’s healthcare swindle plans this number will probably go back positive.
But obama’s sinking, sinking fast- the bumbling dolt has already jumped the shark, six months in.
June 22, 2009 at 9:53 am
skating on glue,
That same Rasmussen report also says that 39% now blame the bad economy on Dr. Utopia`s policies up 12 points from a month ago! And that by a 2 to 1 margin voters have more confidence in themselves than in the president when it comes to the economy. 60% of voters now trust their own economic judgement more than the presidents.
I guess that additional tax on the sugar in Kool-Aid forced plenty of 0bots to detox.
June 22, 2009 at 12:42 pm
Nice pickup, JRD – confess to focusing a little too closely on the approval index.
The good ship utopia is springing a whole bunch of leaks, innit?

It was a nice weekend here in Chicago. I hope the Boyz got out and enjoyed it, perhaps why they are not posting?
Hey Guys, I went to see “Mary Poppins”. I was thinking of your scathing review and trying to figure out what the heck you did not like about the show. I thought the sets design was fabulous and all the performances were well done.I loved the choreography to “supercali…” and “Step In Time”. The only think I hated was the terrible costume that statue had to wear. The guy must have really needed the job badly! Now I know I am no theater insider, nor am I a critic, but this show was to me what the theater should be, a couple of hours of pure escape. Yes, the story is simple, but it was written in for simpler time. That is why it is so endearing to me. And my DS neices were mesmorized the whole time, and it was so much fun to watch them clap along. So, I would say, that if anyone wants a break from the real world, head to the theater and see “Mary Poppins”. Well, maybe it is just a girl thing, I don’t know, but I sure would like you guys to tell me why you thought it was such a waste of time???
Now back to the real world.

From Canadian Free Press:
“Detroit serves as a preview of what American cities will look like if Obama gets his way.
“They call this the Motor City, but you have to leave town to buy a Chrysler or a Jeep. Borders Inc. was founded 40 miles away, but the only one of the chain’s bookstores here closed this month. No national grocery chain operates a store here.
“The city’s 22.8% unemployment rate is among the highest in the U.S.; 30% of residents are on food stamps.”
Our daughter in Detroit called yesterday for Father’s Day. She said an interesting new wrinkle is banks now pursuing more aggressive foreclosure measures. “Lots of people were just leaving the keys to their house in the mailbox & calling the bank,” my daughter said. “Basically walking away. But now, we’re hearing that banks don’t want the house, not as much foreclosing happening. Instead, they’re going after homeowners’ assets—vehicles, other property, checking & savings accounts.”
A city without retail chains, people left without groceries, malls and bookstores. All that remains are the dollar stores. And no tax base either. The cycle feeds itself and it’s going nationwide, not just Detroit. When enough businesses close and enough jobs are lost, the entire system will begin to implode. Add to that the Obama administration’s plan to bulldoze portions of major American cities. Can you imagine the ghost town effect?
Sharon, can you comment further on this??
June 23, 2009 at 5:06 am
NeeNee, living 20 miles from Detroit I can tell you it is a mess. period. Worst I have ever seen it. It is correct Detroit no longer has retail, grocery, car dealerships, but liquor stores and topless bars in abundance. The city is so corrupt, the council is totally corrupt. Detroit has some terrific areas where the surrounding communities have assisted.. Tigers ballpark, Redwings, hockey town, great theaters and restaurants etc. but those areas are contained. Having worked in the mtg. industry for years, I can tell you the banks touching assets is illegal… There are no laws currently to do that, but I will investigate it further and see what I can find out. Michigan is in bad shape right now, has been for along time. Our state never recovered from the recession the country felt after 9/11.. Our governess gets good press still today and won re election by a landslide last time around..The people in this state are crazy. I am going to check out what is going on in the financial sector and get back to you.. Unfortunately the black population in Detroit has been taken advantage of for years.
June 22, 2009 at 11:20 pm
From Michelle Malkin:
“The drug companies have cut a deal with President Obama to help fund his government health care takeover.
“In other words: They are subsidizing their own demise.
“I have no sympathy for industries willing to collaborate with their own worst enemies.
“Don’t come crying when Obama limits your salaries, fires your CEOs, and interferes with your ability to innovate and make profits.
“You deserve what you get.”
Drug companies have pledged to spend $80 billion over the next decade to help reduce the cost of drugs for seniors and pay for a portion of Obama’s proposed revamping of health care. The deal was struck with Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., the chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, as well as the White House.
I’m betting that if seniors (READ: me & hubby a few years from now, presently just 61) get reduced cost drugs, my children will end up paying more for their prescriptions. As us seasoned Hillbuzz citizens know, there is no thing as a constant free lunch.

WASHINGTON (AFP) — The United States said Monday its invitations were still standing for Iranian diplomats to attend July 4 celebrations at US embassies despite the crackdown on opposition supporters.
President Barack Obama’s administration said earlier this month it would invite Iran to US embassy barbecues for the national holiday for the first time since the two nations severed relations following the 1979 Islamic revolution.
“There’s no thought to rescinding the invitations to Iranian diplomats,” State Department spokesman Ian Kelly told reporters.
“We have made a strategic decision to engage on a number of fronts with Iran,” Kelly said. “We tried many years of isolation, and we’re pursuing a different path now.”

July 5, 2009 at 12:37 pm
I’m sorry, but that woman is nuts. She makes the claim that McCain is not a natural born citizen, and so was ineligible, too. “The defendants (Obama, Pelosi, et al) are not above the law and this is a constitutional crisis. McCain was also clearly ineligible to run so this isn’t a game of favorites, it’s about the law.” What crap! McCain was the child of US citizens born on an overseas military base, which is considered US territory, the same as being born in any of the 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam, US Virgin Islands, etc. (This ‘overseas military base’ rule was put in place because so many service persons have children born on overseas bases, and to deny the children of serving men and women the right to become president because their parents were serving their country overseas is absurd. And it’s not like the military would spring for the bill to send pregnant women back to the US to give birth.) Barry Soetoro, on the other hand, we have no idea where he was born, but we do know that both his parents were not citizens. We also don’t know what passport he used to travel to Pock-ee-ston in the early ’80’s, when US citizens were forbidden to travel there. (If he used an Indonesian passport in his travels, for example, well, he was over 18, and that would also disqualify him as he would have had dual nationality, which means, de facto, he cannot be a natural born citizen.) We do not know how Obama paid for college, if he was affirmative-action all the way or enrolled under a foreign student program, or even if he received foreign student aid.
Sorry, but anybody who thinks McCain is not a natural-born US citizen is just plain out of her frikkin’ mind.
On the natural born issue, it is a Constitutional requiment that has never been heard in the Courts. And if anyone is interested, we already had one ineligible person elected President, Chester A. Arthur.
“In Minor v. Happersett (1874), the Supreme Court said that, if you were born in the United States and both of your parents were U.S. citizens at the time of your birth, you are, without doubt, a natural born citizen. In the same case, the Supreme Court also said that, if you were born in the United States and one of your parents was not a U.S. citizen when you were born, your natural born citizenship is in doubt. So far, the Supreme Court has not resolved this doubt because, until now, there has never been any need to do so.
With only two exceptions, every American President, who was born after 1787, was born in the United States, to parents who were both U.S. citizens. The two exceptions were Chester Arthur and Barack Obama. When Chester Arthur ran for office, the public did not know about his eligibility problem. Only recently did historians learn that, when Arthur was born, his father was not a U.S. citizen. The 2008 election was the first time in history that the United States knowingly elected a President who was born after 1787 and whose parents were not both U.S. citizens.”
Arthur knew he was a usurper president: He burned his personal papers burned near the time of his death, the only president to do so thus far. Barry Soetoro knows, too, he is ineligible. Why else spend the exhorbitant sums he has spent to cover the issue up?

“United We Serve is a nationwide service initiative that will help meet growing social needs resulting from the economic downturn. With the knowledge that ordinary people can achieve extraordinary things when given the proper tools, President Obama is asking us to come together to help lay a new foundation for growth. This initiative aims to both expand the impact of existing organizations by engaging new volunteers in their work and encourage volunteers to develop their own “do-it-yourself” projects. United We Serve is an initial 81 days of service
but will grow into a sustained, collaborative and focused effort to promote service as a way of life for all Americans.”

From there you can follow links that take you to BO’s “United We Serve” site.
Read the last phrase of the UWS mission statement again. “Grow into a sustained, collaborative and focused effort” are buzzwords that should scare us all. And “initial 81 days of service” . . . Give me a break! This is at the least ACORN-ish, and at the worst forced service . .
“a way of life for all Americans.” Yup that’s exactly what the Brownshirts made sure all German citizens did for Der Fuehrer. Voluntary now, but just wait. . .

Thanks, Neenee. We all appreciate serving our communites; but they already set a precedent of suspicion with the G.I.V.E. act. Charity comes from the heart….not the government.

Just wanted to quickly say hi to everybody.
I won’t be around much for the next few weeks.
My mother has colon cancer and at the rate of blood loss they don’t think she will live much longer. Her doctor has already contacted hospice. Anyway, I’ll be going out to New Mexico as soon as possible, but have a ton of stuff to do here in preparation.
She chose not to attempt treatments. I completely understand her decision and would probably do the same in her circumstances. Even if they could successfully treat her, her quality of life would never be any better. She is already completely bed ridden with one paralyzed leg, and she is 82.
Having her for a mother has been one of the greatest blessings of my life, so while I will miss her, I am grateful that we have had this much time.
Yesterday I asked my sister to let me tell her, and let me talk to her about her options. For my own peace of mind I needed to know that we were doing what she wanted concerning treatments. We prayed together and we both felt peace about the situation. All of us are mortal. The best we can do is appreciate our time together, while we are together.
June 23, 2009 at 10:03 am
My prayers are with you as you go through this. My mother is also 82, and while she is physically fine, her mind has started to go. She has early signs of dimentia.
I will keep you in my thoughts through this tough time.
June 23, 2009 at 10:04 am
FL Mom:
My prayers go out to your momma. I’m so sorry to hear of her condition.
Spend as much time with her as possible.
Life is too short.
Hugs-
Tammy
June 23, 2009 at 10:16 am
FlMom, I pray for God to give you, your mother and your family strength and comfort. Know that we will be thinking of you. :)
June 23, 2009 at 10:42 am
FlMom,
I will keep you in my prayers. These precious days you have with your Mom should be spent celebrating your family. God Bless You!
June 23, 2009 at 11:07 am
You have made the right decision, FLMom—the God-pleasing one.
Thank God Obama hasn’t advanced his agenda yet that will ultimately decide on euthanizing terminally ill elderly.
All of us had better stay healthy because Big O Healthcare will be watching.
June 23, 2009 at 1:20 pm
Oh FLMom, I am so sorry to hear this ….. and even a little creeped out by the coincidence.
We’ve been on vacation, nice cruise to Canada with the fam. My brother called me shipboard on the last day to tell my our mother had been diagnosed with colon cancer. They have caught hers pretty early and surgery is still a viable option for her (she’s 77), so with hope and strength and prayer she has a good chance at making it.
I feel the same way about my mother as you do yours …. having her as a mother is one of the great joys of my life. I can’t even imagine the world without her in it. I fly off to TX tomorrow to be with her for surgery and treatment.
God’s peace be with you, your mother, and your family at this time.
June 23, 2009 at 1:53 pm
Ten,
I`ll keep your Mom in my prayers. STAY POSITIVE, it works. And, laughter is the best medicine. If there is any silver lining it is that the government can`t tell you your Mom is too old.
God Bless!
June 23, 2009 at 2:07 pm
Ten, We are praying.
June 23, 2009 at 11:33 pm
Much thanks to you both. We’re hanging on and keeping positive. Even telling jokes, my brother & I particularly.

More empty rhetoric from “The One”.
His Cairo speech was bull, and the Telegraph is calling him out on it.
And meanwhile, the Iranian people are fighting and dying for their freedom.
Obama doesn’t care about freedom. He cares about power.
Much like Stalin….

Tammy, good find on the article.
How very sad you have to go to the UK to get a clear and fair minded assessment of obama’s mushmouthed handling of Iran.
June 23, 2009 at 10:54 am
Great! Thanks, Tammy.
June 23, 2009 at 11:57 am
Obama proposing to tax our health care benefits plan is nothing! How about a “Bullet Tax”?? Someday when the BO Jackboots keep us Constitutionalists in line, will we be assessed like the Iranians? Read on . . .
“On Saturday, amid the most violent clashes between security forces and protesters, Mr. Kaveh Alipour was shot in the head as he stood at an intersection in downtown Tehran.
“Upon learning of his son’s death, the elder Mr. Alipour was told the family had to pay an equivalent of $3,000 as a “bullet fee”—a fee for the bullet used by security forces—before taking the body back, relatives said.
“Mr. Alipour told officials that his entire possessions wouldn’t amount to $3,000, arguing they should waive the fee because he is a veteran of the Iran-Iraq war.”

This whole situation in Iran is showing Obama for the empty suit he is. If he has everything scripted for him he looks like a genius. But with out any scripting, he’s just a bumbling fool. And he & his people were calling Bush an idiot. Good gawd!!! At least right or wrong, Bush would take a stance & stand by it. Obummer is a fence sitter – waiting to see which side will win or benefit him the most. People like that generally get knocked off the fence. I just hope to God that we don’t end up in the mud puddle beneath the fence with him.
His handling of the N. Korea situation is anothre bungle of monumental proportions. He’s pulled some term for trailing that NK ship rather than boarding it or blowing it to kingdome come out of moth balls. No one has ever heard the term. I can’t remember it but it amounts to more fence sitting. If it weren’t so pathetic it would almost be funny how that little pip-squeak KFI has the leader of the FREE world boxed in. Weeks before that ship even leaving the harbor, he says that if anyone boards any of his ships it will be an act of war. So now what does poor BO do??? He can’t be seen as the agressor. Not even with NK threatening to shoot a missle at Hawaii. Guess that’s not aggression. Obummer can rant & rave about execs using their corp. jets (while he flies all over hell & back!), about how horrible it is that any companies in our country are making profits, about you & me breathing or that our animals are farting too much…….but he can’t raise his voice to N. Korea or to Iran it beats & kills its citizens. God help us, cuz we’re gonna need it!
June 23, 2009 at 10:58 am
Well said, frankie, well said.
June 23, 2009 at 11:50 am
He’s a pathological liar.
He always was, and always will be.
He is vacuous.
He is cold hearted (ie Iran, Israel)
He is not the “scholar” that everyone said he was.
And the media cannot let him fail as he was chosen by THEM. He was their affirmative action/guilt trip choice.

Take PBS off your list of television programming.
The Public Broadcasting Service recently announced it will not allow new religious programming on their taxpayer-subsidized airwaves. The handful of stations that have shown a Catholic Mass or Mormon devotions will be allowed to continue, but the other 300-plus stations have been instructed to avoid any kind of evangelism.
Welcome to Barack Obama’s new world order.
News reports explained that the PBS station services committee insisted on applying a 1985 rule that all PBS shows must be “noncommercial, nonpartisan and nonsectarian.”
Does this mean no airing of Handel’s Messiah at Christmas? Will they edit out “Battle Hymn of the Republic” during the Iowa high school All-State Festival next November??
Betcha they will air plenty of pro-Muslim documentaries. As well as those dissing Christianity.
Hubby’s getting the word tonight: much as we love it, no more Antiques Roadshow!

The protests in Iran are a “Women`s Movement.”
I don`t usually agree with the Washington Post but, they finally stated the truth!
June 23, 2009 at 11:23 am
On June 12, the PBS show “Now” (formerly with Bill Moyers) devoted most of its half-hour to smearing the pro-life movement as a vicious band of terrorists. They hailed two men who abort babies into the ninth month, Dr. Warren Hern of Colorado and Dr. Leroy Carhart of Nebraska.
Oppose abortion, even very late in pregnancy, and PBS is clear. You are a terrorist.
All of this discussion was centered around the murder of Dr. Tiller. Two abortionist doctors and news media hosts mentioned the pro-life denouncement of the crime, but then went on to smear pro-lifers:
Carhart attacked. “They may claim innocence and they may technically, under the law, be innocent, but their heart was certainly with Scott Roeder on the day that he shot Dr. Tiller.”
Hern echoed: “The anti-abortion organizations, you know, making these statements of distress and disapproval. No, no, no, no, no. This is what they wanted to happen. And it happened.”
On MSNBC, Hern uncorked this slur: “The main difference between the American anti-abortion movement and the Taliban is about 8,000 miles.”
Allowing this bilge to be put forth is disgraceful. Free speech is one thing, but equating people who are anti-abortion with ruthless, be-heading Muslim terrorists is ludicrous.
June 24, 2009 at 4:23 pm
Every day in our new America, I am shocked and sickened at the lengths the libs will go to make certain they slander everyone who disagrees with their views. This will all come back to bite them on the ass!! It is up to all of us to do the chomping.
June 23, 2009 at 11:48 am
I haven’t watched PBS for years – only catch their funding programs once in awhile to see concerts by Andre Rieu or such. But that ends now too! Getting so there is nothing left to watch. Saw Bobby Flay in a clip yest. having a backslapping good time. Won’t be watching him on Food Network anymore either I guess.
I have what may be a stupid question but here goes………is it just me and I’m not looking in the right spots or listening to the right people but why haven’t I heard anything about how our missle defense is being depleted? I heard an off-hand comment by Dick Morris last nite on Hannity about either 9 or 11 missles that have been taken out of AK – like it was common knowledge. Later in the evening another off-hand remark about how BO is systematically reduinging our missle defense system. I know I heard quite awhile back that he had intentions of doing this but holy cow! Either I’m not as informed as I thought I was, or this is all being done under the radar. Why aren’t we being told about this??? The very stuff that BO is touting as he crosses the t’s and dots the i’s won’t even be available to us in a very short time. What the hell is going on??????? This is about as important as it gets. Why is this being mentioned in such a casual manner & like we all know about this? Have I been out to lunch while this has been front & center or do the rest of the American people not realize what is going on under our noses?
June 23, 2009 at 12:20 pm
It’s not you…..It is a new world we live in now. Until the media (if ever) falls out of love with this complete bafoon we will not get all the information. Propaganda at its finest.. I am listening to him now, and he is an absolute embarrassment and a total liar.
June 23, 2009 at 12:24 pm
It’s almost like he WANTS us to get attacked.
Creep.
June 23, 2009 at 1:04 pm
I saw that same clip on Hannity last night …. I think he said 19. I was wondering why Gov Palin isn’t screaming bloody murder about it, this seriously affects the indefensibility of her state.
June 23, 2009 at 1:49 pm
It really puts her in a tough spot. Do you want to advertise to the world that you no longer have your missile defense? Yet, can you just sit by and say nothing?
My guess it there are LOTS of conversations being had behind the scenes. My biggest concern is that this whole Hawaii thing is just a distraction and that North Korea will really go after Alaska and that Obama has taken their defenses away as a revenge on Palin.
June 23, 2009 at 2:26 pm
Wow! That is exactly what I said last week – that Hawaii is an obvious distraction and that AK is the real target. Much better chance of actually hitting AK than HI. I also agree with Tammy that it’s like he wants us to be attacked. I was thinking last nite about the possibility of July 4th being a perfect opportunity for an attack of any kind. Our economy is in the toilet, our attention diverted on so many levels with focus on Iran & this whole N. Korea fiasco & all the talk about July 4th. One of the reasons 9-11 worked as well as it did was no one connected the dots with chatter using 911. I hope July 4th isnt’ used that way. Pretty scary tho & I have absolutely no faith or trust in BO. He has his own agenda & I don’t think there is a person on earth who could begin to fathom what that is. I just know in my guy that is isn’t good for the U.S. He makes my skin crawl and I could get physically sick if I allowed myself to think about it too much.
June 23, 2009 at 2:43 pm
TXMom – thanks for all this good info. I find it deeply disturbing that there is so little that the media is reporting on this. Thank goodness we have each other here & other blogs to get information that is so vital to our safety & security. More than disturbing – I’m outraged! I see that the alphabet networks are losing more viewers all the time which is good, but that still doesn’t get vital info out to us. We should be screaming bloody murder about the depletion of our defenses. I can’t imagine what the military thinks but I can imagine. Push comes to shove, I’m thinking BO will need his own civilian militia cuz I think our brave men & women will stand with The People! I just can’t get past all that has happened in such a few short months in terms of what BO is doing & all of it scares the hell out of me. Our economy has only gotten worse with his handling of things. Unemployment worse, housing prices still going down – all in stark contrast to how he explained the urgency to passing his stim bill. He controls the auto industry, banks, fires CEO’s & IG’s and has Czars taht report only to him. He’s been crappy to our friends & allies and cozy, chummy with our enemies. He won’t stand up for Freedom & Democracy and not only is he physically destroying our defenses but he’s making us look like chumps in the eyes of the world. Hard to look at all this stuff and not come to the conclusion that this guy has a plan for the US that does not bode well for us. It all looks pretty dang deliberate to me.
June 23, 2009 at 2:48 pm
Ten – I think you’re right – Morris did say 19. That is huge! It’s outrageous that we know virtually nothing about this. All being done very hush, hush. Are we Amercia or Russia where the citizens know nothing about what is going on and have even less say in what our country is doing? I think I’ll send an email to Hannity and ask him to put some focus on this.
June 23, 2009 at 12:23 pm
frankie, You just brought up a sore point with me. You are right. Nobody is screaming about this. However, Republicans are trying. Democrats…not so much.
Republican Efforts To Restore Missile Defense Blocked “Washington, D.C. – Republican efforts to restore funding for key components of the comprehensive missile defense system designed to protect America´s homeland, forward-deployed troops, and allies were repeatedly rejected by Democrats on the House Armed Services Committee. The Obama Administration slashed $1.2 billion from national missile defense programs in its budget submission for Fiscal Year 2010.
Rep. Howard P. “Buck” McKeon (R-CA): “Considering the threat that exists, it´s ludicrous to me that we would cut funding for critical national defense capabilities. Iran and North Korea both have demonstrated the capability and intent to pursue intercontinental ballistic missiles and nuclear weapon programs in the last year. It´s critical for the United States to provide a comprehensive missile defense system that protects the U.S. homeland, as well as our forward-deployed troops and allies.
Are we so confident in our diplomatic efforts with Iran and North Korea that we can afford a nearly 90 percent cut in European Missile Defense and a 35 percent cut to our homeland missile defenses in Alaska and California?”

IF THAT DOES NOT SCARE YOU ENOUGH, READ THIS:
The Air Force’s original plans were for 750 F-22 Raptors to replace an aging F-15 Eagle fleet that was recently grounded after one disintegrated from old age in flight.
Production of the Raptor was capped at 187 in the defense cuts slated for the 2010 budget…
“Only the F-22 can survive in airspace defended by increasingly capable surface-to-air missiles,” declared Air Force Association President Mike Dunn in December.
The stealthy, radar-evading fighter jet is quite simply the best aircraft of its kind in the world. It can slice through enemy air defenses and clear the skies of enemy planes virtually undetected. So why aren’t we building more than we have?

Obama always brags how many jobs he’s “creating OR saving.” How do you track a “saved” job??
Glenn Beck told us today—in his inimitable, so-understandable way:
“We are creating or saving jobs every single day. It is absolutely fantastic. We finally now know exactly how President Obama is going to count the jobs that he is saving or creating. Under the rules released now Monday, the White House told the governors, mayors and contractors to keep it simple. Quote: Just count the people being paid out of the Recovery Act dollars. This is from the deputy director at the White House budget office. Just count the people being paid out of the Recovery Act dollars.
“Well, that makes sense, right? I mean, it sounds perfectly simple. It’s a great sound bite? I mean, just don’t think about it for very long. Quick, pass this, quick, it’s an emergency! Once you start to think of it, then you start to think of, well, let’s say your situation.
“Let’s say you run a company. Well, let’s say this radio show is a company. I’m not planning on firing anybody right now. Well, I might fire Stu. But other than that. But let’s say I get $100,000 in stimulus funds. This is how they would count the jobs. I would tell them the number of people that I’m paying with that money and since I’m not firing ‑‑ you know, I’m not planning on firing anybody, the number would be zero, right?
“I’m paying them anyway but I’m getting $100,000 in stimulus money. This is why they have set it up this way. I’m not firing anybody. The number is zero jobs that have been saved or created but since I wanted the stimulus money, I’m incentivized to not say zero. Otherwise why would I take the stimulus money? In fact, it’s best for me to make that number as high as possible to justify my decision.
“So instead I would say I’m paying two or three people with that money, even if that doesn’t cover their salary. I’m paying seven people right now with $100,000 in stimulus money. Really? I’m going to pay them anyway. I’m just pocketing the money that I would have given them otherwise. Then the politician from my district who secured the money is also incentivized to make sure that number is as big as possible so we report the number back to the president and he takes credit for three jobs saved: Mine, Stu’s and Dan’s, even though I wasn’t planning on firing anyone.
“Now, that might sound like we’re basically taking the amount of money and dividing it by the average salary, and it is, but Obama’s not doing it. This is where the beauty comes. It would be too obvious if we just took the money and then divided it by salaries. However, if he just relies on business owners like me, well, I’m independent. I’m not getting those numbers from, you know, some government source. I’m getting it from the private sector. Let’s for the first time hold up the private sector. But it actually gets worse than what I explained.
“Here’s the real life example given from Washington. Ohio officials have estimated a $20 million bridge construction project is going to create or save 10,500 jobs. They are going to build a bridge and it will save or create 10,500 jobs. For those mathematicians who happen to be listening in the audience because we were always number one in math, that’s less than $2,000 per job.
“Now, I suppose you could create a lot of jobs if you are paying people 96 cents an hour, which is about what that works out to, but we’re not in China or Mexico… yet. Who thinks this is legitimate? Apparently only the president and the media. Everybody else is, “You’ve got to be kidding me, right?”
“This is how we’re creating or saving jobs. See, this is better, though, than my theory. My theory was on how he was going to say he saved all the jobs is he was just going to continue to take companies over and then every day he doesn’t fire all of the people in that company, he saved jobs. Did the president call you today to fire you? Nope. Saved another job. I don’t know, I was thinking about closing down an entire company, but I didn’t. He saved another job. Congratulations!”
June 23, 2009 at 3:27 pm
It’s too bad that 99% of people are unaware of that, but even if they did know, with the millions of jobs being lost, this whole thing about Obama “saving” jobs isn’t that impressive even if it weren’t BS.
June 23, 2009 at 3:17 pm
Makes Sense! Isn’t our president just wonderful?

June 23, 2009 at 5:39 pm
I just heard 2 things on Hannity. One is interesting & hits the nail on the head. That is – this whole Iran thing is BO’s equivalent to voting “present”. He won’t take a stand, 1 way or the other. And every thing he’s saying now contradicts what he said earlier – tho HE says he’s been saying the same thing all along. I’m either way dumber than I thought I was or my hearing has gone to hell. From my vantage point he has not been sayint the same thing all along – he’s just been hedging the whole time.
The other thing is just outrageous but then again isn’t pretty much everything? I’d forgotten about the 4th of July celebration that BO has planned that he had invited Akmadindin to and with the brutality going on in Iran right now, BO did not DIS-invite him to the INDEPENDENCE party. Unreal!!!
Newt was also on talking about some big energy bill that would be the biggest tax increase in US history and put hundreds of thousands of people out of work. How in the deuces can this crap be going on??? Apparently there aren’t enough votes to pass it right now but Newt says it will be voted on by Fri. and the Dem’s are pushing like crazy to get this passed. I must be dumber than a box of rocks cuz I sure don’t see why these bills are even being introduced much less pushed. Where is the outrage from the people who have Democrats as their Representatives??? These people need to be contacted & told in no uncertain terms that if they vote for this, they won’t be in office 1 nano second longer than is possible. Kiss their political careers GOODBYE!!! This is all typical Alinsky – keep so much going on & most of it under the radar so we can’t focus on any of it. While we’re trying to keep an eye on healthcare, they have a dozen other big ticket items out there that need just as much attention. I’m really getting ticked off at all of this and I hope thousands – hell, millions, of others are too.
June 23, 2009 at 9:03 pm
frankie,
Newt was referring to the “cap and trade” energy bill. I call it crap and trade. Waxman, a CA liberal pig of a man, is behind this. Newt offered good advice, call your senators and reps and tell them to vote no on this and health care reform.
June 24, 2009 at 11:33 am
cap and trade?
No. Smother and bury.
June 24, 2009 at 1:04 pm
Remember in 1959 when Khruschev bellowed “We will bury you”??
In retrospect, was he really saying “We will BARRY you”??
June 23, 2009 at 7:30 pm
Glenn Beck had a good one on O’Reilly just now.
Bill asked him if he trusted Benito. “No, not at all,” Glenn said. “What Obama wants is not what is best for the United States. Let’s compare it to this:
“Obama’s vision of remaking America is comparable to him walking up to me and saying, ‘Glenn, I want your marriage to work, but I really see myself with your wife.’”
June 23, 2009 at 8:24 pm
I enjoyed that segment on O’Reilly also where Beck shocked Bill by saying he doesn’t trust BO. But I have blood shoot out of my eyes when people say that they think Obama is “brilliant”. He is NOT brilliant. IF someone writes his material and IF he has a teleprompter that doesn’t malfunction he can speak well – his delivery & cadence are good. But brilliant??? Not in my book, by any stretch of the imagination. I for one, wonder what, besides who paid for his education, he’s hiding by not releasing his college transcripts. Judging from the things he says & how he hedges, hems & haws when he’s caught off guard, he’s anything but brilliant. I don’t even think he’s above average. IMHO he soaked up all the Alinsky Socialism stuff for so long that he can repeat it back in his sleep like a parrot. That doesn’t make him brilliant.
June 23, 2009 at 8:52 pm

Just saw something On Greta VS that I haven’t seen or heard all day. Someone asked pointed questions about whether he was more or less shamed into a stronger response by Sen’s. McCain & Graham. Dr. Utopia actually made a joke out of it ending with “I’m the President!” Just another version of “I won!” Gag me with a spoon. Like we could possible forget that he is the President. Wish the heck I could. I wake up every day hoping I’ve just been a bad dream like Bobby in Dallas.
June 24, 2009 at 11:35 am
frankie, you are correct- obama has the ability to read a teleprompter in a reasonably dynamic way. That is all.
Which thereby qualifies him to be the news anchor on a mid market television station. That is all.
June 24, 2009 at 8:55 pm
Which brings us back to the saying:
We need a LEADER not a reader.

Nancy Pelosi is forcing a vote on a Global Warming bill on Friday that was negotiated behind closed doors that has grown to 1201 pages that NO ONE WILL HAVE THE TIME TO READ, AGAIN, BEFORE IT WILL BE VOTED ON!
Dr. Utopia promised us that a bill would be available 72 hours for public access.
This is disgusting. Our government has been hijacked but insane renegades and there is nothing we can do to stop this mad woman Pelosi.
June 23, 2009 at 9:18 pm
Don’t these people have a window in their homes or offices. I live in Phoenix and we have hot temps as the norm, but from what I’m hearing about the weather in the rest of the country, it is far below average. They are so vested in this bogus Global Warming crap & how it fits their agenda’s that they just can’t admit they’re all wet (some literally)! And these are the people who carried on & on about Bush not being able to admit if he was wrong. What a bunch of pompus hypocrites! Pelosi had a whole list of wonderful things she would be for the Nation as the Speaker of the House and she hasn’t lived up to 1 of them. She is the most dividing, polalrizing, back-biting person in the House. She lies at the drop of a hat and wishing for or expecting her & her ilk to live up to anything they “promised” is like wishing for gas to be $1.30 qallon and stamps to be 5 cents again. Just isnt’ going to happen. But….this is why these people have to be run out of office. 2010 is way to far away for my liking. I wish we could vote tomorrow and replace every dang 1 of em.
June 24, 2009 at 8:32 am
Remember all the global cooling crap from the 70’s? It is the same nonsense. Crap n Trade is just another way to tax and control business. The govt. will be able to hold all the strings. Most people I ask, have never even heard of it, much less understand it! All we can do is pray that people wake up and vote out the bastards before they take the country down completely.
In the meantime, I think I will start boning up on my French. Sarkozy seems to be trying to take France out of the dark ages. At this rate, he may turn France to capitalism. And the food is great too!
June 23, 2009 at 9:43 pm
Just check my other favorite blog – http://www.powerlineblog.com – John Hinderaker has this to say:
“In his press conference today, President Obama talked about the cap-and-trade energy tax that the Democrats are trying to ram through Congress. Obama’s nose grew a couple of inches as he uttered this howler:
“At a time of great fiscal challenges, this legislation is paid for by the polluters who currently emit the dangerous carbon emissions that contaminate the water we drink and pollute the air we breathe.”
The idea that the energy tax will come to rest with “polluters”–that is to say, power companies, manufacturers, agribusinesses, and so on–is absurd. The cost will be passed on to consumers, as Obama himself admitted during a moment of candor during the campaign, when he said that electricity costs would “skyrocket” under his cap-and-trade proposal.
Obama isn’t dumb enough to believe that the many billions of dollars in costs that his proposal will impose on energy companies, etc., will somehow disappear thereafter. But he thinks you are.
Meanwhile, others are putting out information, rather than disinformation, on the disaster that is Waxman-Markey. Like the National Mining Association, which produced this map showing, state by state, how many millions of dollars in costs will be imposed on each state annually under the bill’s allowance allocation formula. Click to enlarge: (sorry- the map didn’t copy but can be seen on their website under heading of “He thinks you’re stupid”.)
Here in Minnesota, we can look forward to an additional $100 million+ in costs to be paid for annually by taxpayers and energy consumers.
Waxman-Markey would be a very stupid bill even if it were true that 1) the earth is getting warmer, 2) human activity is mostly responsible for climate changes, and 3) a warmer earth would be a bad thing. Given that all three of these premises are false–we cannot, in fact, control the weather–Waxman-Markey is a suicidal monument to human folly.
SCOTT adds: And enacting Obamacare is mandatory in order to save money.
As I stated here, the Obama administratoin’s operative political theory is that the American people are incredibly dumb.
I heard this bill could end up costing each of us at least $2,ooo. a year. That, like everything else coming from this Congress, could well be a very conservative estimate. These people will say anything that they think we’ll swallow. I about choked yest. when Benito defended the new Tobacco regs by saying that kids are targeted in school, on playgrounds and on TV. HUH????? When was the last time you saw any Cigarette ads on TV? We don’t even have the “Winston Cup” anymore! Seen any Marlboro ads at your local school? Camel ads at the Little League ballpark? Sure sounded good tho, didn’t it! Yes – he does think we’re stupid!
June 24, 2009 at 8:36 am
OBO is still blaming the tobacco companies that he is hooked, just like he blames everyone else for what is going on. He just wants to get back at “evil tobacco”.
June 24, 2009 at 9:02 pm
I bet it’s Bush’s fault that BO smokes
June 23, 2009 at 9:59 pm
The following is only a small percentage of the effects and costs of this Economy and Job Killer bill.
Waxman-Markey cap-and-trade bill stuffed full of unpleasant surprises. 5/22/09
If cap-and-trade is an energy and global warming bill, why is a three-year package of unemployment benefits, job training and relocation expenses buried deep within its fine print? And why is a federally subsidized “job bank” needed if laid-off workers would quickly be rehired for higher-paying “green” jobs?
The fact that generous unemployment benefits are buried in the bill means that “green jobs are bunk,” the conservative Heritage Foundation’s Ben Lieberman told The Examiner.
A Heritage analysis also found that Waxman-Markey is the largest, most intrusive energy tax increase in American history. It would reduce the nation’s GDP by $7.4 trillion, raise electricity rates 90 percent and gasoline prices 74 percent.
Apparently, the authors of this legislation were unaware that a recent poll found six out of 10 Americans oppose energy policies that raise their electricity bill by even one cent, much less practically double it.
And the final kicker is that the bill’s effect on greenhouse gases emissions would be just barely measurable.

MARK LEVIN TELEPHONE SURGE Against Waxman-Markey Cap and Trade: Everybody, please call your representatives all day tomorrow.
FLOOD THEM WITH CALLS .
Let them know we are not going to accept 90% higher electricity rates and 74% higher gas prices.

Marvelous legwork, TXMom!!!
Folks, in Obamaland it’s going to come down to:
* Food
* Shelter
* Utilities
* Transportation (BO’s green car)
* Medical care
There will be no money in anyone’s wallet left for anything but above basic necessities. This man needs to go.
June 24, 2009 at 8:40 am
They won’t be happy until we get no paycheck at all, just rely on the govt for our rations. I can’t even look at the man’s ugly mug anymore. Everytime I hear his voice, I start to cuss at him in words I have never uttered before. This pompous Ass is out to destroy America. God help us.
June 23, 2009 at 10:41 pm
Great info, TXMom. So much about this bill not only stinks – it reeks! The phone surge is a great idea and it will be on my list to do tomorrow. We need to let them know we’re not going to sit still for this kind of thing. I’ll be passing this info on to others as well.

http://spectator.org/archives/2009/06/24/washingtons-plot-to-explode-yo
There is a plot in Washington by the “Wicked Witch of the West, Pelosi” to explode our taxes. Why or course, how can they afford to pay for all this ridiculous spending.
These progressives are “tax and spenders” on steroids!
June 24, 2009 at 7:42 am
Thanks, JRD. Folks, JRD just gave us an important article to read. Read all of it, both pages. It writes of the new commission to study raising huge taxes because, after all, they just now realize that they cannot pay for everything.
The article also outlines what needs to be done to correct the damage. The solutions are common sense and what the tea parties have been suggesting all along.
I know you guys are busy; but it has come down to the fact that we have to call and fight these people every day. Think of it as a “Phone Revolt”. It is the only tool we have right now. Band together, my friends, on the phones and with e-mails. :)
June 24, 2009 at 7:49 am
Interesting choice of words, TX.
“Phone Revolt.”
Isn’t it ironic that technology—cellphones & Twitter are what’s keeping the Iranians going these days, too?
June 24, 2009 at 11:57 pm
Does anyone have the phone numbers to congress handy? I remember that HillBuzz has posted them in the past.
June 25, 2009 at 8:13 am
Hi, Cheryl T.
The main number for the Capitol:

They will put you through to your representative.

June 24, 2009 at 7:52 am
Yeah, it appears that ALL union-health plans benefits will be exempted by Benito’s plan. If you’re union, the value of your health plan won’t be taxable income.
Nothing but payback for being voted into office!
June 24, 2009 at 6:10 am
I noticed the other day, when news that Hillary had a fracture, that no mention of it was on HB. That seemed pretty unusual. I have also noticed that the last postings by HB, Sebastian Gray, and Laura Cohen were on 6/18. HB always seemed to be on top of many stories we would never have knowledge of … even with Drudge. I hope whatever the problem is, it gets solved, and soon. I miss the feel of being an “insider”.
June 24, 2009 at 7:53 am
I’m guessing they’re encountering delays in going to their new site. Either that or some computer thing has happened again.
June 24, 2009 at 8:22 am
I also can’t believe there was no mention of Hillary’s fracture. Looks like Kevin and the boys are on hiatus again.
June 24, 2009 at 8:54 am
I agree! While it is great that so many bloggers here still come in and provide us with great links, I miss the Boyz perspective. Come out and play guys!
June 24, 2009 at 10:40 am
I miss the guys too but they are probably very busy getting their new site up and running. Also, from what they have been writing it appears that they are working alot more.
Meanwhile we have to melt the phone lines and send e-mails or otherwise this Cap and Trade is going to get passed on Friday and we are going to be stuck with this health care bill.
June 24, 2009 at 8:28 am
C4P has a great article up about Gov. Palin’s visit to the aircraft carrier the USS John C. Stennis. Some GREAT pictures.
Scroll about halfway down: http://www.conservatives4palin.com/
“Meeting the men and women really touched my heart,” she said. “Just shaking their hands and meeting them is a real honor. I have a great appreciation for the military and everyone out here. When just looking at many of the young men here, I see my son. He’s serving in the military and just like everyone here, has the same drive and dedication in protecting those he loves.”
I. Love. This. Woman.
June 24, 2009 at 9:13 am
I just heard an interesting interview.
A doctor’s wife, who also does the billing for him and other doctors, just said that the doctors that participate in the Medicare program have to decide each December whether they are going to continue with Medicare the following year. If government-run healthcare passes, many have decided to pull out of Medicare this December. She said , it will take a little longer, but all the insurance companies WILL crash.
She also said if you don’t have insurance you can still get treatment. The hospitals look at your income and decide whether you pay 20%, 30%, 50%; and many people get the services for free. Many times the doctors treat patients for free. They want to. They often go to the hospital in the middle of the night and work 8-10 hours with no pay. Two problems. (1) They are required to charge the same percentage as the hospital, even if they feel they should do the treatment for free (2) The doctors are not allowed to deduct their losses with the I.R.S. I wonder why they cannot deduct their losses as other business can? The doctors say that, if the government would allow them to deduct the cost of treatments, it would solve most of the problems with our healthcare now. In other words, if the government would back off right now out of our healthcare system, the free market would succeed and availability of patient care would improve.
June 24, 2009 at 11:10 am
TX – all of your info from that interview is exactly right. My husband in in healthcare mgmt and your relayed info is 100% right on target. Yet another system where the gov’t isn’t the solution – it is the problem. If they’d get out of the way, we the people could work out the kinks.
June 24, 2009 at 2:44 pm
frankie, Thanks for the confirmation. I was not sure. :)
June 24, 2009 at 9:17 am
I see that a few others have commented on it, but it’s the 24th, 10:17 AM (NY) as I write and we’ve not heard from Hillbuzz.
It is time to start worrying about the boz?
June 24, 2009 at 10:08 am
Nah, they’re big boys and can take care of themselves.
Now, if they ran away to New Hampshire to get married we should be upset.
They didn’t invite us!

June 24, 2009 at 11:04 am
Invite us?
They didn’t even tell us about it. :-)
I hope you are right in thinking that nothing is wrong.

How absolutely disgusting. I hope the backlash is swift and devestating to that woman. Proves again that not only do these radicals have no brains but they have no shame either. Truly abominable! This leaves no doubt at to what the Celtic Diva thinks of people with disabilities. Breaks my heart to see an innocent child, one of the most innocent with his particular disability, attacked like this to make a jab at Gov. Palin for nothing more than political posturing. Sick, sick, SICK!!!!!

That woman has serious, serious mental problems. Something is really wrong with her. And notice this fact, before August 28th, 2008, she never filed ONE complaint against Sarah Palin, NOT ONE, but after the election, BAM, she started filing ethics complaints. Gee I wonder why, I think if you follow the money, you will find a lot of money given to her by Soros and Axelrod, I can guarantee it. I’d bet my bank account on it. Just follow the money..she never had a problem with her before, until AFTER the election..but doing this to her son, to target Sarah’s baby boy like this, well, are you shocked, I’m not..this is what leftists do, not all of them, but many of them. They hate hate hate the fact that Sarah did not get an abortion, they wish this child was dead, because that is their belief, it’s sick. That poor baby, to be bashed this way, I hope there is HUGE outrage over this. She belongs to the Alaskan Democratic Party, apparently they approve of this. So start bombarding them with messages and phone calls

Celtic Sweathog is over at C4P trying to defend herself from the indefensible.
Time to go all Letterman on the Celtic Sweatpig.
June 25, 2009 at 12:23 am
I am sooo ready to go Letterman on this pathetic woman. I just looked at her blog. Nothing intellectually stimulating there. All pieces about her, her family, and of course Palin bashing. It really blows my mind that her blog would be one of 2 blogs chosen from Alaska to go to the DNC convention in Denver. Clearly no one actually read her blog or she wouldn’t have been chosen. AGH!

Say a prayer for the Iranian protesters. People are being beaten to death, thrown off bridges and chopped into pieces with axes.
It’s all so horrifying.
Say a prayer for them.
I wish we could do something to stop this.
It saddens my heart that this kind of thing goes on in this world.

OMG. I won’t watch the videos. I can’t. I know we can’t go to another war; but, Lord, I want to go in there, take over the country and help these people. All they want is freedom. May we remember to stay vigilant and not take our freedom lightly.

But, but… Frozen custard and Hot Dogs!
June 24, 2009 at 12:36 pm
Prayers being said. Thanks for the link. And thanks for AtlasShrugs. At least someone understands that oppressed women in the middle east need us to stand up for them.
Wake up NEROBAMA! Put down the damn fiddle and do something for a CHANGE!
June 24, 2009 at 11:48 am
Hearing that woman in obvious mental anguish begging “us” for help reduced me to tears. The people of Iran who want their freedom so badly that they are willing to lose their lives in such a manner is beyond anything we can comprehend. Who will come to help us reclaim our independence some day? No one??? I am so angry that all Obama can focus on is the “remaking” of our country and giving only lame platitudes to the people of Iran seeking liberty & independence. I am beginning to see him as a very evil man. And as long as I feel that way, I wonder if I should continue blogging cuz it may get me in big trouble one day. Scary thought but I do believe that these blogs if not already monitored soon will be.

Jake Tapper is at it again! Not bowing down to the Great O like the rest of the boot-licking press corps:
Question to BO: “while I appreciate your Spock-like language about the logic of the health care plan and the public plan, it does seem logical to a lot of people that if the government is offering a cheaper health care plan, then lots of employers will want to have their employees covered by that cheaper plan, which will not have to be for-profit, unlike private plans. And may, possibly, benefit from some government subsidies, who knows? And then their employees would be signed up for this public plan, which would violate what you’re promising the American people, that they will not have to change health care plans if they like the plan they have.”
BO danced around the question (being teleprompter-less): “Right now, I will say that our position is that a public plan makes sense. Now, let me go to the- the broader question you made about the public plan. As I said before, I think that there is a legitimate concern, if the public plan was simply eating off the taxpayer trough, that it would be hard for private insurers to compete. If, on the other hand, the public plan is structure in such a way where they’ve got to collect premiums and they’ve got to provide good services, then, if what the insurance companies are saying is true, that they’re doing their best to serve their customers, that they’re in the business of keeping people well and giving them security when they get sick, they should be able to compete. Now, if it turns out that the public plan, for example, is able to reduce administrative costs significantly, then you know what, I’d like the insurance companies to take note and say, hey, if the public plan can do that, why can’t we? And that’s good for everybody in the system. And I don’t think there should be any objection to that. Now, by the way, I should point out that part of the reform that we’ve suggested is that, if you want to be a private insurer as part of the exchange, as part of this marketplace, this menu of options that people can choose from, we’re going to have some different rules for all insurance companies, one of them being that you can’t preclude people from getting health insurance because of a pre-existing condition. You can’t cherry-pick and just take the healthiest people. So there are going to be some ground rules that are going to apply to all insurance companies. Because I think the American people understand that, too often, insurance companies have been spending more time thinking about how to take premiums and then avoid providing people coverage than they have been thinking about how can we make sure that insurance is there; health care is there when families need it. But, I’m confident that, if- you know, I take those advocates of the free market to heart when they say that, you know, the free market is innovative and is going to compete on service and is going to compete on, you know, their ability to deliver good care to families. And if that’s the case, then this just becomes one more option. If it’s not the case, then I think that that’s something that the American people should know.”
zzzzzzzz
Tapper kept hammering at him to answer the damn question TAPPER: I’m sorry, but what about keeping your promise to the American people that they won’t have to change plans even if employers-
OBAMA: Well, all right- when I say if you have your plan and you like it, and your doctor has a plan- or you have a doctor and you like your doctor, that you don’t have to change plans, what I’m saying is the government is not going to make you change plans under health reform. Now, are there going to be employers right now, assuming we don’t do anything- let’s say that we take the advice of some folks who are out there and say, “Oh, this is not the time to do health care. We can’t afford it. It’s too complicated. So, let’s take our time,” et cetera. So let’s assume that nothing happened. I can guarantee you that there’s the possibility for a whole lot of Americans out there that they’re not going to end up having the same health care they have. Because what’s going to happen is, as costs keep on going up, employers are going to start making decisions. We’ve got to raise premiums on our employees. In some cases, we can’t provide health insurance at all. And so there are going to be a whole set of changes out there.”
What Obama really meant to say is “You don’t have to change plans, but we’re going to make the public version so cheap you’d have to be a fool not to use it, much like public education. And yes it will squash the insurance industry allowing for a government takeover, just as the government squashed and took control of GM and the banking industry. Next question!”
June 24, 2009 at 1:15 pm
“If, on the other hand, the public plan is structure in such a way where they’ve got to collect premiums and they’ve got to provide good services”
Does this then imply that the free taxpayer funded healthcare plan does not have to provide good service? That it would in fact provide bad services.
Seems to work that way in Canada and Great Britian.
June 24, 2009 at 2:26 pm
G – That is exactly right – services will indeed be bad. How can it not be???
The only way I’d even consider looking at anything in this healthcare plan is if they were saying that EVERYONE, including Congrss, the Pres. and all gov’t employee’s would be on the SAME plan! But, no – they’re exempt. WHY???? Ha! Rhetorical question. And…..
Union workers are exempt from having their benefits taxed like the rest of us. This whole thing & everything being rammed down our throats smells of corruption from beginning to end. Those that already have the cream off the top & a gravy train that won’t quit will continue to tip-toe thru the tupips. The rest of us poor shlubs will get the shaft. No wonder those of us in the trenches are the only ones who can identify with those poor souls in Iran who are fighting & dying for their freedom. We’re the ones who can see our freedom slipping away day by day, hour by hour. We won’t be able to choose what kind of car we want to drive, what kind of Ins. we want, what Dr. we go to and the Dr. won’t have the right to treat us as he is ethically bound. The gov’t will be handling all of that for us. Life as we’ve known it is fast slipping through our fingers. As I listened again to the news report about what happened to those 2 commuter trains the other day I thought – that is exactly what is happening to our Nation. There are 2 trains on the track. One is life as we’ve known it. The other is the Obama train of take over. Our train is stopped. The other is going down the track at break neck speed & about to slam into us, derail us and then catapolt itself so it lands right on top of us, crushing democracy and our rights as free people. I cringe at what will have to happen to put a stop to this insanity that is called the Obama Administration.
June 24, 2009 at 1:48 pm
Yeah, and so what? That has already happened, w3ill continue to happen, and always has happened. In the 70s, they offered HMOs, then PPOs, etc. and recently high deductible plans. He is using “the employer-paid program will change” mantra as another of his no famous straw man arguments.
I don’t have the stomach to watch ABC tomight, so somebody take notes.
June 24, 2009 at 12:30 pm
Once government gets in it’s all or nothing.
Look at the way all citizens are forced into Social Security and Medicare through payroll deductions or estimated payments.
Obama’s plan does not take into consideration any co-pay provided by employers. If the government plan is cheaper then employers will make the employees get the new plan. With business profits being plundered by Big Guv, they’d be foolish not to. Every employer would like to get out from under this big expense.
No, the government will not make you change. But employers who provide a more expensive plan will stop offering it. Choice will be taken off the table.

Ooooh, Big Dem Warren Buffet is bashing Benito’s cap & trade! Says it would be regressive and hurt the poor.
Watch to see if Daddy-o Buffett is summoned to the woodshed by Benito . . .
June 24, 2009 at 2:16 pm
It WILL hurt the poor. It will hurt everyone who has electricity to their homes, puts gas in their car, or uses natural gas. Why the MSM cannot see it this just staggering to me.
June 24, 2009 at 1:43 pm
WOW! So I’m watching Fox News, and just… speechless. Anyone watching it about now will know why. Although, I’m not 100% shocked, because hearing the lead up to all this, the possibility crossed my mind.
But overall, I am truly speechless!
June 24, 2009 at 1:48 pm
Sanford?
June 24, 2009 at 1:55 pm
yep… like I said, hearing the whole drama, this outcome crossed my mind. But still, it really did shock me somehow. Which only makes my nervousness about Resident Utopia even worse.. because I’ve had a horrible feeling since before the election about him, so this coming out of nowhere just adds to my suspicion about politicians (at least most of them..)
June 24, 2009 at 2:18 pm
I am never surprised by the infidelity of a politician. They live in chaos and are perpetually serviced by those around them.
However, the timing on this one really stinks. The O Administration has been looking hard for a way to punish Sanford for refusing the non-stimulus money. I would not be at all surprised to find them behind this “revelation.”
Obamalama comes from Chicago politics. He proves it daily.
June 24, 2009 at 2:22 pm
I agree.
No one would have mentioned his “disappearance”. His staff would have assumed he was home or out of town.
This has the Chicago mob all over it.
But I don’t care how it came out.
He’s a sleeze.
I’m so SICK of these egotistical whores running our government!

I am so pissed off right now. I had sky-high hopes for Sanford…sky high.
We fiscal conservatives did not need this crap. I am seeing red right now, I need to cool off. F’in Sanford…you were one of my heroes asshole!
June 24, 2009 at 2:55 pm
Sanford’s inability to contain himself has caused serious, serious damage to the cause of fiscal conservatism, just as we were getting some traction.
I was looking to Sanford to provide years of leadership on this issue.
Way to go Sanford you freakin self-absorbed selfish stupid little PRICK.
GOD I’m so angry right now. Just GO, Sanford. GO THE F AWAY NOW. DAMMIT!!!!!!

Why is it that Democrats who screw around hardly get even a mention or a wrist slap?
Republicans get thrown to the dogs.
June 24, 2009 at 8:26 pm
Because dems don’t stand on or up for anything that remotely requires any moral judgement. Everything is relative, no black or white (other than race) all grey and foggy.
The potus and his lack of a spine for the Iranian people is a great example.
Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil, and it doesn’t exist.
What a fool.

Start phoning your reps. Cap & Trade vote is tomorrow.
That’s exactly why this Healthcare Infomercial on ABC is taking place this week.
Distract with issue #1 while you accomplish issue #2.
Does anyone know. . . can we get a schedule of both Senate & House voting issues? Do they publish in advance a list of dates, and what bill will be voted upon?
June 25, 2009 at 6:47 pm
Allegedly, the Senate won’t start framing their legislation until this July:

You are right, Neenee! I did not think of the healthcare thing distracting from the Cap and Trade issue. As Mark Levin states,
CAP AND TRADE = TAX AND KILL.
Call your Representative and demand that they vote against this bill. Cap and trade will drive up the cost of everything as the government tries to manage our economy, farming, and industries – all in the name of environmentalism and global warming. The environmentalists are purposely and intentionally making society poorer through their policies, deficits and massive spending.
Say NO to Cap and Trade A.K.A. Tax and Kill
PHONE SURGE: 202-224-3121 SHUT ‘EM DOWN! And, while you’re at it, fire off a couple of e-mails. :)
June 24, 2009 at 3:11 pm
You can bet that the Sanford thing will not be the diversion the LSM has been hoping for. Obama is off the hook again! Damn! They will flood the airways with all the Sanford crapola while they ignore the important issues like healthcare, cap in trade and Iran! It makes me furious. Let’s stick to the importance issues! Phone surge!
June 24, 2009 at 3:25 pm
YES,GIRLPOWER! I have been calling off and on all day..you know…for myself…my hubby…my 102 year old mom…HA HA HA. Anyway, people ARE calling. It’s taking about 10-15 rings before the phone person answers. I asked her if they were busy and she answered, “OH, yes. Very.” YEA! Keep it up! One of my Senators lines are constantly busy; no voice mail. The other tells me that they are so busy I have to try again. No voice mail. Yeah, right. I was able to talk to a live person with my very liberal Democrat Congressman: and she read a statement that said he really wants to vote for the energy bill, but if some of the taxation does not change by tomorrow, he will put the people first and vote no. See, we have had radio commercials telling people to call him specifically and he is scared; however, his statement is just a lie. He left room in his statement for him to change his mind tomorrow. He ALWAYS votes straight party. Never give up! Keep trying!
June 24, 2009 at 3:42 pm
Hi TXMom, I called my 102 year old grandma last night and spoke in Italian with her…it makes her so happy since she was the last Italian speaker in our whole family till I took it up.
We’re lucky, you and I, to have such wonderful women in our lives! Living history is so amazing!
June 24, 2009 at 3:53 pm
BSB, That is wonderful! I am so glad you learned Italian. You must carry it on. I do have a serious question for you, though. Did you call her congressman for her as I did? HA HA HA Just kidding. Just kidding. :)
June 25, 2009 at 10:46 am
TXMom, like all of my family, my beloved gramma is a hardcore Dem, so I don’t do her political calls for her LOL!
June 24, 2009 at 3:13 pm
What a bad, bad day today. I can’t bear to watch the news when I get home, not even Beck. Just gonna go for a hike in the woods, be one with nature and try to forget all the hopes I had for Mark Sanford the selfish little prick.
I’m keeping it together by reminding myself that Governor Palin is on her way overseas right now to visit the troops, which should lead to some great coverage the rest of this week. (This is her second visit, and unlike Dr. Utopia, she goes to visit the troops, not for the photo ops.)
June 24, 2009 at 8:38 pm
BSB,
I know you’re disappointed but you have to remember not to put too much faith in any man/woman. You will be disappointed EVERY TIME. Especially with politicians.
The only one worthy of your trust doesn’t belong to a political party.
June 24, 2009 at 3:37 pm
There is so much more to focus on right now than Mark Sanford but his “disclosure” today just gives fodder to the Media to go in his direction rather than focusing on, oh – I don’t know…..such insignificant little items like that fact that N. Korea is threatening annihilation of the US, the pesky little fact that Barney Frank is calling once again for relaxed lending practices by Fannie & Freddie, that after all they hype about AIG paying their people the bonus’ that were in their contracts – Citigroup is now going to pay their people 50% more so they can keep them rather than lose them to other companies (something which was hinted would happen if the bonus pay was clamped down on), the upcoming votes on Cap & Trade, a new push for Amnesty, and this Healthcare debacle…..NOT TO MENTION the ongoing horror coming out of Iran. Like I said in a reply above to Lynn G & NeeNee – there are 2 trains on the track & we’re the one stopped and BO & his bunch are the one racing down the track at break-neck speed ready to crash into our stopped train. This Sanford thing is helping BO to derail us & keep us from taking side track until we can get back on the main track again. This derailment means when the Obama train reaches us, it will be catapulted into the air so it lands right on top of us and crushes our hopes of regaining our Constitutional rights, freedoms & liberties. Sanford handed MSM & Obama a gigantic spike for them to put into the coffin of all citizens.
June 24, 2009 at 3:48 pm
You are absolutely right. And Sanford is sooo wrong. However, what really irritates me is ….what happened to Nancy Pelosi?…Nothing. I think Barney Frank and Chris Dodd should be in jail! Nothing. Frank is STILL over housing. But, hey, we’re gonna crucify Sanford! Don’t get me wrong…I am so angry at him and he should be punished. I am just soooo very tired of the obvious double standard.
June 24, 2009 at 4:32 pm
Bill Clinton was the obvious double standard. But somehow that was endearing . . .
We have plenty of other “foot soldiers” to get the message out. Sanford is good, but there are other staunch conservative Republicans.
When libs throw Sanford in your face, give a recitation of THEIR adulterers: Bill Clinton Adulterer in Chief, John F. Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, John Edwards, Gary Hart, Gary Condit, Elliott Spitzer, Jim McGreevey, Wilbur Mills—even LBJ was reported to be an unbelieveable womanizer.
More so than this, I want to know why Chris Dodd’s sweetheart mortgage deal, Charlie Rangel’s tax problems, Louisiana Dem Jefferson’s freezer full of cash, etc. are just swept under the rug.

June 24, 2009 at 4:37 pm
I know this is long, but here we go again.
The following is a letter I just received from Congresswoman Kay Granger.
Dear Friends,
Please pay attention to this issue. What is happening is outrageous.
Last night, Speaker Pelosi and the Democrat majority surprisingly announced that this Friday will be the day the House considers landmark energy and climate legislation known as “cap and trade.” “Cap and trade” means the government would set artificial limits on the amount of emissions businesses, utilities, farmers, and others can have, forcing them to severely alter the way they operate. If they can’t operate within their emissions limit, they would have to pay the government or other parties to get a higher limit. This is essentially a tax on these groups, and it is most certainly going to be passed on to all of you.
PELOSI IS UP TO HER OLD TRICKS AGAIN!
This bill is still being written as we speak – no one has seen or read it, and the bill is being crafted completely behind closed doors and as it stands now it is rumored to be 1,201 pages long. Normally, Members draft legislation, and then submit it to congressional committees for consideration. Only after it has received the support of the committee can the legislation be considered for a vote.
However, this bill is going straight from the drawing board in Speaker Pelosi’s office to the House floor with no input from anyone except the small group of Members drafting the bill.
The cost is still unknown, but some reports indicate this bill could result in the loss of 3.2 million U.S. jobs. The Heritage Foundation estimates this bill will increase electricity costs by 90 percent by 2035, gasoline by 58 percent, and natural gas by 55 percent.
At this point, it is very likely that we will not see the bill before we vote on it. Speaker Pelosi is continuing to hold closed door meetings this week, so the final version of the bill has not been written.
I do not support the process House Democrats are using to force this bill through the House, and I can’t support a costly piece of legislation when we do not know its impact on our country.
June 24, 2009 at 4:49 pm
If cap and trade passes we are all screwed. Please, please call and write to the congress. Let them know they will not have your vote next time, and that you will work very hard to ensure that people know their voting record. Not just now, but come election time the pamphlets will numerous. Nothing scares these a-holes like unemployment for themselves.
June 25, 2009 at 7:53 pm
What kills me about the debate is that if the current levels are part of the problem how does capping them at these levels solve it?
It is obviously a three card monte game designed to make the public pay for ‘their right’ to continue polluting the environment for profit. Why do I have to pay more for them to ruin the nation’s waterways as they pretend CO2 is the only issue.
Here is a thought. Have the company pay for their own damn pollution clean-up.
And then I can decide not to buy their products when they inflate their prices to pay for it.

That slimebucket gigolo Kerry said yesterday, “If a governor had to go missing it couldn`t have been the governor of Alaska. You know, Sarah Palin.” This Kerry piece of garbage is a poor excuse for a human being. I`m not going to stop bombarding this gigolo with e-mails and phone calls. Piece of human refuse!

Guys, I have to tell you.
I lost my mind today.
I watched videos on atlas shrugs of the violence toward the Iranian people and I became a mess.
And our President. Our LEADER ignores it all.
I just don’t know what to do right now. I am so sickened and saddened by it all.
My heart is heavy.
What has this world come to? What has our COUNTRY come to? Is civilization DEAD?
Sorry, but I’m just so sad, and sick to death of the idiocy of the world and human kind.
Ugh.
June 24, 2009 at 8:00 pm
Tammy,
Work out. It helps me immensely. I get rid of all of my aggression and it releases endorphins and makes me happy.
My arms are 10 times better then Michelle from hell`s and I don`t have the fat hips and butt that she does either. I am perfectly capable of kicking someone`s butt if I ever have to. However, I am a very non violent person.
Things are going to be tough for awhile. Get yourself in a good mental state by working out.
You can do it girl. I know you can.
June 24, 2009 at 8:36 pm
Are you implying that I’m fat?
I took two power walks today, lifted weights, and have not taken any anti-depressents.
This story just got me down.
A lot.
If you didn’t see the real pictures of the brutality, then you wouldn’t understand. Why don’t you check out a site that tells the truth?
Working out will not make my feelings of sadness go away.
Give me a break you insensitive ASS. Hey, maybe if the Iranians worked out they might feel better about their dictator!
Fuck Sanford.
Any man who cheats on his wife while spewing holy vows is an asshole. ALL OF THEM.
But at least that Governor doesn’t live in a country where protesters are hacked to death with axes.
Yet
June 24, 2009 at 8:43 pm
watch this video of a man’s head imploded and tell me that I need to “work out”.
First, and I hope last time I’ll ever say this to you: fuck you moron.

Tammy,
I never meant to hurt you at all. It`s just that when I am so angry like you appeared to be when reading your post I have all this aggression that I don`t know what to do with. I need to release my aggression otherwise I will take it out on the people I love or make myself sick. I got a punching bag and I just beat the living daylights out of it. 0bama makes me pissed off, I beat up the punching bag. I watch the awful things in Iran, I beat up the punching bag. Never meant to hurt you. Sorry
June 24, 2009 at 11:11 pm
Tammy, I know how you feel. I felt the same way watching those videos. It is heartbreaking hearing those women begging for help while ONero fiddles. But I understand the point JRD is trying to make. Depression is a killer. I got into such a funk after Sept 11th. I knew my country would never be the same, and I just could not get past it. And then bam! I got cancer. I know there were other factors too, but I think my state of mind was a major contributor. So keep fighting gals, but take it easy on each other. We are all in this together. Love you both!

Obama’s economic policies, adopted by the Democrat-controlled Congress, call for total Federal borrowing of $3.5 trillion this year alone!
The Federal debt is projected to soar over the next 10 years to a peacetime record of 84% of GDP, and to keep on growing past the all-time record of 113% of GDP during World War II.
Rep. Paul Ryan, ranking Republican on the House Budget Committee, projects it will climb to
200% of GDP,
twice the size of our entire economy. That would be 5 times the level of national debt that prevailed for decades before Obama.
This doubling of federal spending as a percent of GDP implies a doubling of federal tax rates. The Heritage Foundation reports that trying to pay all of the promised benefits of Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid by raising income taxes would require
raising the top 35% tax bracket to 77% and the 25% tax bracket paid by middle income earners to 55%.
All income tax brackets, in fact, would have to be doubled.

June 24, 2009 at 10:08 pm
Have you ever heard of “The Ryan Roadmap”??
Legislation has already been introduced by Rep. Paul Ryan (Republican – Wisconsin)
That legislation has been officially scored by CBO as completely eliminating all long-term entitlement deficits, without any increase in taxes.
Instead, the federal budget is balanced over the long term at 18.5% of GDP, smaller than the current Federal budget.
Indeed, the Roadmap includes tax reform as well, with a new system applying a 10% tax rate on families with incomes up to $100,000 per year and singles up to $50,000, and a 25% rate on all incomes above that. Generous personal exemptions provide that a family of four earning up to $48,000 would pay no income tax.
There are alternatives to Benito’s fascist/socialist plan. Let’s hope this one gets some traction . . .
June 24, 2009 at 11:04 pm
Neenee. That’s great! How do we track it? Is it in committee? How do we find out when to call and “encourage”? They are going to fight it because it would give us to much of that annoying thing called….freedom.
June 25, 2009 at 9:33 am
If you google Paul Ryan, he’s had this plan in the pipeline since mid-2008.
And Newt mentioned his name as possibly 2012 material—as well as Bobby Jindal and Tim Pawlenty. No mention of Sarah Palin, though :=(

Speaking of assholes, is everyone still writing to the Letterman advertisers? I plan to get out a batch tomorrow for this week. We do not have our main cheerleader, Sebastian, encouraging us. I realize there are alot of BIG issues but we need to keep the pressure on. The misogynists like Kerry are bound and determined to take Palin down. She is our hope in all of this madness. We have to keep up the pressure.
June 25, 2009 at 12:11 pm
I am still writing, I made copies of the letters and I am sending them out every sixth day.
June 25, 2009 at 6:30 pm
I am writing letters to congressman and women opposing cap and trade. This is a more pressing issue that, if passed, will have profound, long lasting negative effects on this country.
Write CONGRESS today, they vote tomorrow.
June 25, 2009 at 8:31 pm
I sent an email to one of my senators last nite and my husband called his office this morning and the person that answered told him “we see that your wife contacted us and we have her request in our records.” Made me happy to hear that the senator’s office is paying following the emails or it’s going to make me sad that there are so few people contacting their senators that my name was on a short list.

Newt Gingrich has nailed it again.
“The biggest characteristic of the left-wing machine that is currently running the city … is that they’re doing so many destructive things in parallel simultaneously that it disperses the opposition.
“Their goal, almost like Lyndon Johnson in ‘65, is to try to ram through as much bad stuff as they can as fast as they can before the natural conservatism of the country rebounds and rights the system,” he said.
Still, he said “conservatives in general and Republicans in particular” should focus on what he called
* a massive tax on investments
* a massive tax increase on energy
* a massive tax increase to pay for government-run health care
* dramatic expansion of the power of politicians and bureaucrats
To that end, he suggests conservatives recruit Democrats who oppose tax increases and big government and form a coalition to do battle with President Obama’s “fantasy wing of the American left.”
“I would urge, for example, conservatives in California to find a Democrat to run in every Assembly and Senate seat in California that can’t be contested by Republicans, and then to run a Republican in every seat they could possibly win, and then have an overt goal of creating a bipartisan conservative coalition,” he said. “I’d do the same thing nationally.”
Newt has also pitched this idea to Michael Steele, RNC head. Article went on to say he is considering a run for the 2012 presidency. But as I’ve commented here before, brilliant man that he is—he simply is not electable. Some folks do a better job in lesser positions and make better advisors.
June 25, 2009 at 2:18 pm
He’s another pol that couldn’t keep it in his pants. Where are these guy’s heads? Sorry to my super hubby and the great men on this board, but why do men throw their future with their wife and kids for a temp roll in the hay? I know women do it too, but good grief. I don’t understand it.
June 25, 2009 at 5:24 pm
Argh…Newt should have left off the historical reference, the stupid muffin head. Civil Rights legislation, like the Voting Rights Act, was passed in 1965. Newt, with his own supplied example, has now allowed Dems to portray modern opponents to Obamamania as similar to 1960s KKKers. Thanks, Newt, you maroon.
June 25, 2009 at 5:27 pm
Argh…Newt should have left off his historical reference. Civil Rights legislation, like the Voting Rights Act, was passed in 1965. Now Dems, using the example provided by Newt, can portray modern opponents to Dr. Utopia as 1960 KKKers. Thanks, Newt, you maroon.

Mea culpa on the duplicate post.
June 25, 2009 at 8:54 am
President Obama suggested at a town hall event Wednesday night that one way to shave medical costs is to stop expensive and ultimately futile procedures performed on people who are about to die and don’t stand to gain from the extra care. He added: ”Maybe you’re better off not having the surgery, but taking the painkiller.’
————–
I wonder if barry will have the nerve to tell Sen. Kennedy that he should have died a year ago instead of wasting so much money on a hopeless treatment. He should have just taken a painkiller for that headache.
Oops – I forgot. Govt employees are excluded from this diabolical plan.
June 25, 2009 at 9:36 am
Good point, Delle!
It’s always “do as I say, not as I do.”
Another interesting proposal is union members being exempt from guvmint healthcare.
Or at very least, their health care plans wouldn’t be taxed. Whereas ours would if we elect to keep a private plan over Obamacare. Not to mention businesses who continue to offer private plans would also pay a tax.
“95% of citizens won’t have any new taxes.” Yeah, right. Only in Bamalot’s mind . . .
June 25, 2009 at 9:43 am
Not government employees, but rather the political class.
June 25, 2009 at 12:09 pm
Delle, he makes me sick. As you pointed out, he just confessed to rationing of healthcare.
Obama said he has personal familiarity with such a dilemma. His grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, was diagnosed with terminal cancer and given less than nine months to live, he said.
She fell and broke her hip, “and the question was, does she get hip replacement surgery, even though she was fragile enough they were not sure how long she would last?”
Excuse me. When my mother was 95, she fell and broke her hip. I can tell you. NO AMOUNT OF PAINKILLER WILL COMFORT THE PATIENT. Because of Mom’s age and health problems, was I supposed to just left her suffer and die?
Mom almost died because of that surgery, but she made it. Also, because Mom broke her hip at that age, the physical therapists did not want to do physical therapy because they said she was too weak and old; she would never walk again. I immediately went to her doctor and she agreed with me. She received therapy and walked for 5 more years. At 102, she still kind of walks. ha ha
June 26, 2009 at 8:29 pm
Wow!! 102, God bless her.
June 25, 2009 at 10:46 am
Holy Cow.
I guess it’s safe to say now, that Obama is specifically out to ruin this country. What REALLY bothers me is why are all the Democrats behind him pushing the damn idiot bus so hard.
Do they REALLY not understand how bad the Cap and Trade tax scheme will hurt the USA?
The repubs tried to get an amendment to stop cap and trade if unenployment reached 15%. Blocked by dems.
They tried to get it stopped if gas hits $5.00 a gallon. Blocked
Tried to get it stopped if energy prices go up 10% over 2009 numbers, blocked.
WHY ARE THE DEMOCRATS TRYING TO MAKE THE USA A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY?
TXL

And being in a position to profit from the laws they create.
June 25, 2009 at 8:40 pm
I saw a press conference that Pelosi had about 3 weeks ago regarding cap & trade/tax. She outright said that congress would prevent the utility companies from passing on cost increases to the consumers. WTF! If this passes every company will incur increases in their cost of doing business and making them all eat the increases and not make a profit because congress says so is just wrong. My hubby and I have a cheesesteak/sub shoppe, who the hell is going to pay $15 for a cheesesteak. We just moved into a new location in February. I seriously considered just sitting on my money after Obama was elected now I am just hoping I don’t live to regret waiting 4 years to open a new location.
June 26, 2009 at 12:41 pm
Remember when the left wing and various countries were upset at Pres Clinton for not signing onto the Global Warming treaties?
Clearly, he saw something that would hurt the common man and the US if we signed onto them.
I trust Pres Clinton on this topic more than I trust Pelosi on any topic.

Here’s a question we all need to ask our Congressmen about ObamaCare. Are you going to opt out of your Congressional plan and choose the public option that you are passing for the rest of us?
June 25, 2009 at 6:33 pm
I agree with what someone else said earlier …. Congress should be forced to live by ObamaCare before it’s inflicted on the rest of us.
June 25, 2009 at 8:49 pm
I heard today that congress will be exempt from the gov’t health care. They will never be subjected to it for the rest of their lives.
June 25, 2009 at 2:56 pm
I called all the above Congresspersons. Left messages with all but four full mailboxes. I was able to talk to the clerks for the rest of the numbers. Five of them asked for my name, address, state, zip. Some do not take messages from non-distrct citizens. I gave them my information. I told them nicely that I was an American citizen, this bill would affect me and I have the right to comment. Then I ask if they will please relay the message. They all agreed.
If you wish to call, their offices close at 6:00pm Eastern.
Good news. The 202-224-3121 has been busy all day! Phone Surge! Yeah!
However, you can still get through to their offices with the above posted numbers. It only took about 30 minutes!

Ed McMahon,Farrah Fawcett,Michael Jackson;I’ll miss the first two.
June 25, 2009 at 6:27 pm
I faxed my rep ~both local and DC office~ and 13 others recommended by http://www.resistnet.com. I also faxed them a copy of the open letter from Glenn Beck’s show.
June 25, 2009 at 7:11 pm
WOOO HOOO! I am working on the resistnet list. Almost done. Can you believe how many Republicans are on the fence? We are going to hold all, both parties, accountable.
June 25, 2009 at 7:45 pm
I just finished faxing.
Folks, there is still time to e-mail and fax tonight.
And time to call all of them in the morning before the vote. The list above and TNWAHM’s link.
June 25, 2009 at 9:59 pm
Glenn had an interview with Major Garrett who noted that the dems cut a deal with agricultural states to exemmpt them from the new carbon taxes. So it seems they may be getting their votes by making deals. Meanwhile, no one reports it. No one even hears about it because conviently, Farah Fawcett and Michael Jackson died so there are more important things to report on. I am so sick of this stupid media!
June 25, 2009 at 8:44 pm
Continue to call congress…. No disrespect, but they will vote this in while the world is paying attention to Michael Jackson.
June 25, 2009 at 8:55 pm
I know this sounds crazy but I am beginning to wonder if Utopia is in cahoots with those global elitists that want to decrease the worlds population? What a better way to do it then to force substandard healthcare on the american population, thereby decreasing the life expectancy for all of us. A month ago I would never have thought that but after seeing the kind of care they get in Britain & Canada, well I just thinks it is a possibility.
June 25, 2009 at 9:49 pm
RIP Michael Jackson….terrible news! The only good thing about it is they aren’t talking about Obama..
June 25, 2009 at 10:02 pm
Hey HB guys, come out come out wherever you are. I am not sure how much longer I can stand looking at Dimmy Carter on your home page! We would sure appreciate you letting us know what is going on.
June 25, 2009 at 11:10 pm
Yeah hillbuzz isn’t the same anymore…
June 26, 2009 at 1:44 am
I am really jonesing for some HillBuzz! I am becoming obsessed with refreshing the page every few minutes to see if they’ve posted anything new.
June 26, 2009 at 7:55 am
It seems we have to go outside the country to get the truth about the health care plan.
This very frightening article is from Canada:

Forced euthanasia – sure, that’s what we need to keep down the cost!
June 26, 2009 at 8:24 am
I just posted this on FB.
I am fasting and praying for our great country. Jer. 29:7 tells us to seek the peace and prosperity of the city we live in; pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, we too will prosper. Today, our House of Representatives is voting on the Waxman-Markey Cap & Trade Carbon Tax Bill. If you think the economy is bad now, wait until this kicks in.
I know that some of you don’t believe in God, but for those that do, our hope is in God, not politics or government; ~I have to remind myself of this often~ however we are commanded to seek the peace and prosperity of where we live. Faxing and calling our Reps about this Cap & Trade bill is doing
that.
Pray, Call & Fax everyone!
June 26, 2009 at 9:09 am
TN WAHM. Count me in; I will stand with you!
Please have patience with me….what is FB? :)
June 26, 2009 at 9:45 am
I don’t know what FB is either.
June 26, 2009 at 10:23 am
Sorry, FB=FaceBook. I took the plunge this week.
June 26, 2009 at 10:35 am
Thanks TN
Gosh – I feel so out of the loop. :-)

http://www.bostonherald.com/news/us_politics/view/20090624john_kerry_says_wrong_gov_missing_for_four_days/srvc=home&position=0
read the story above.
Senator Kerry said he wanted Sarah Palin to go missing.
What about her children that would be terrible Mr Kerry.
I didn’t like Bush, but at least he was a good man not a low life lier like Kerry.
Kerry is so terrible, like Edwards. The pair represent the worst Democratic ticket ever (well Obama Biden was as bad).
don’t let him get away with it, complain to his Senate office.
June 26, 2009 at 8:39 am
Sarah Palin’s over in Kosovo and headed to Germany visiting the troops…Go Sarah!
My thought for today is that hillbuzz was absolutely right about Rep. Michelle Bachman. She’s got some cajones. She sticks up for wwhat she believes and speaks the truth, and so far has withstood the slings and arrows that, I’m sure, will only increase. Sadly, we’ve seen it before with Hillary and Sarah.
Those ‘buzzers who aren’t already checking out Bachman might want to add her to your lists of women we love. The more I learn about her the more I likey.
June 26, 2009 at 8:46 am
Love Michele Bachmann. She almost lost her last election because the Obamacrat machine came out against her in full force. This is the type of woman they hate. We must support her.
June 26, 2009 at 9:51 am
Makes me love her more that she successfully fought off the O-thugs. More and more it appears that the women shall lead (Sanford reference!)…and I say more power to them!
June 28, 2009 at 9:33 am
bluestatebilly,
what a lovely thing to see. country before party or gender. that’s what i’m talking ’bout! *applauds*
June 26, 2009 at 9:00 am
Morning all. Thought we could all use an inspirational video with cameos of two former presidents who actually loved this country. Those were the good old days.
June 26, 2009 at 9:36 am
girlpower Thank you. I am bawling my eyes out! God Bless America.
June 26, 2009 at 10:30 am
IF that doesn’t get us off our butts, nothing will. Thanks Girlpower.
June 26, 2009 at 9:50 am
This lifted me up.
June 26, 2009 at 10:25 am
Hey, Tammy can you get some of your creative friends to make us a video starring, BO MO PigLo ChrisDO and BarneyFranko? Would love to see them all Beat it!
June 26, 2009 at 4:15 pm
Um, girlpower, my “creative friends” are all Obots.
June 26, 2009 at 4:44 pm
Great video.
June 26, 2009 at 10:19 am
Sometimes I cannot believe Obama’s luck-or is it the devil at work? I am sure they are all jumping for joy in the West wing that MJ met such a timely demise. Just the sort of deversion they need! We are all saddened by the loss of a great entertainer but lets stick with the important things here! Even Fox is doing nonstop Jackson nostalgia when there are bigger fish to fry! Keep calling people! This crap in trade thing must be stopped!
My son did an intership in DC. He worked for member of the house. He said that most congressmen never read any letters from constiuents, they are answered by peons like my son, so I am sticking to calling the local offices. Thankfully, my representative is a republican and against this bill, but I am calling area dems. Here is a number for Melissa Bean if you live in IL: 847-517-2927. She has big aspirations statewide so maybe she will listen.
June 26, 2009 at 10:59 am
girlpower. I just learned something probably everybody in the whole world knows…except for me. :)
Today, the phones are so busy I could not get through to my Congressman’s Washington office.
I rememebered that he has offices in three different Texas cities. I called all of them and they said they would IMMEDIATELY forward my message to him in Washington! YES!
June 26, 2009 at 4:28 pm
Yes, seeing as the washington #’s are overwelmed, just call your congresspersons local office. That way you will thru for certain. Newt was Hannity’s radio show and said call locally if your can’t get the DC offices.
June 26, 2009 at 11:34 am
That is good to know about phone calls versus writing the reps.
I had always suspected as much and those form letters they sent back sometimes months later confirm they truly don’t read letters.
The cap and trade bill is such a three card monte game they should be ashamed of themselves. Of course, that would mean they have morals or care about the common man.
To me it just looks like another way for them to profit by installing the loopholes and companies that will benefit.
June 26, 2009 at 11:20 am
This link on Michelle Malkin has a list of every person in Congress that are either a No or leaning 1 way or the other or undecided on Cap & Tax. Very comprehensive list. http://michellemalkin.com/2009/06/26/melt-the-phones-cap-and-tax-target-list/
I’ve been calling offices of various member of congress from the resistnet.com list. Rep. Collin Peterson’s phone person (once I got thru) sounded very flustered as she told me that there had been some concessions made and changes to the original bill that caused the Rep. to be able to now support the bill. I told her there couldn’t possibly be enough concessions or changes to the bill to make it good for American or Americans! She said would not debate the issue with me. Then she told me I was not in Peterson’s District or State so I reminded her I was a Citizen of the United States!!! At that point she pretty much hung up on me.
Rep. David Scott (GA) had an answering machine message that said that their office was closed!!! WTF!!!! The listed office times & I was clearly within their peramiters but I was able to leave a message. Rep. Tim Walz of MN was a good, polite call. Many other lines busy, busy, busy. I’m going to start now on the Undecided & Leaning Rep’s on the Malkin list. Lets keep melting down their phone lines!!!!
June 26, 2009 at 11:36 am
No idea how it happened but a post I just wrote got posted to # 134 – above yest.’s posting. Info @ 134 regarding the Cap & Tax Bill & who to call.

June 26, 2009 at 11:48 am
Check this out! Greenpeace is even against this Cap & Trade Tax bill.
http://www.greenpeace.org/usa/press-center/releases2/greenpeace-opposes-waxman-mark
They say it isn’t strong enough.
Keep calling & faxing!
June 26, 2009 at 1:10 pm
Listening to Rush, it sounds like we’re within 5 or 6 votes of defeating this horrid energy bill. At least, that’s my impression.
Also, it’s pretty much a given that Cap & Trade will never pass in the Senate.
This morning at the grocery store, talked to several people. ALL ignorant of Cap & Trade. One of my closer friends had heard the term, had no idea what it was. ????
She went on to say that she thought BO’s health bill was a good thing, though. “I’ll be able to keep my health plan here at Hy-Vee,” she said. “But then my daughter who can’t afford hers can drop it & have a bigger paycheck. Then she can just go on the government plan and have coverage cheaper.” When I pointed out that keeping her Hy-Vee provided health plan would be added to her income and taxed, her eyes bugged out. Oh, and I also told her that most likely employers who offer plans would be taxed for doing so. After so long, why would they want to keep offering a benefit that costs them AND is taxed?? Could tell my friend’s mindwheels were going around.
Too many acquaintances who usually vote conservative are buying into this. They would never take the time away from scrapbooking, watching movies and doting on grandkids to investigate. “NeeNee,” they say, “You like that stuff. It bores us silly. That’s why you just need to tell the rest of us what’s going on.” What a sad commentary on our society.
Off-topic, it’s taking my dialup connection here at work about 5 full minutes to work its way to the last post on this thread. Hope the Boyz are around tomorrow to start a new one!
June 26, 2009 at 4:18 pm
My friends are just as clueless Nee Nee, and they call me to get the “scoop”.
I tell them all to stop reading the local newspaper(The Minneapolis Star and Sickle) and get some REAL news from the internet.
But they don’t want to give up the comics section. LOL
June 26, 2009 at 5:15 pm
Watch the debate on this bill on CSPAN!!!
Michelle Bachmann was incredible, fighting for us but JOHN BOEHNER is my new hero!!! He is standing up, going through all the ridiculous crap in the 300 page addition to the crap in trade bill in the wee hours, that no one has read. Sound familiar? New laws on building codes, dictating to every community in the country. New laws requiring everyone to have an R rating before selling their house! It is giving all the power to the govt. bureaucrats in DC. It surpasses states rights, minicipal rights, and personal rights! I am all for green building. I built my house with the latest technology, but I will be damned if I want Washington to dictate every aspect of our lives. If this bill passes, they will. Keep calling.
The dems tried their best to shut him up, pass the bill with no debate at all, but he prevailed. It is so great to see someone standing up for the people.
CSpan usually repeats later in the evening. Must See TV!
June 27, 2009 at 6:18 am
I am almost afraid to ask, but could you tell me what an R rating on your home means?
Thank You.
June 27, 2009 at 8:03 am
R rating is basically stating how well it is insulated. An older home with little insulation may have an R of 10, a well insulated new home may be 30 or more. It basically is used as a stardard for rating insulation. I built a concrete home and my R value is over 50. So my home is very cheap to heat and cool, not to mention, soundproof and wind, fire, and bug resistant. It is the only way to live. But I sure would not like to be forced into the gov. telling me what to do. Ironically, my local building code inspecter did not know much about concrete homes but since he knew I was buidling a fortress, he never gave me any trouble! And believe it or not, it was not that much more expensive that a “stick built” home. Because it is less labor intensive.
June 27, 2009 at 9:45 am
Thank you.
I don’t like the way this sounds.
June 26, 2009 at 6:18 pm
Cap & Tax just passed the House. Only God can save this country now.
June 26, 2009 at 6:40 pm
Agreed. Keep praying. The vote was close. Did you see Waxman’s grin? Sickening. The guys who voted for it are a bunch of thieves. We need to get a list and post them everywhere and remember these people at election. We keep fighting when it goes to Senate. We keep fighting against the killer healthcare bill. We keep fighting against the amnesty bill. Go to all your tea parties. Communicate with your tea party organizers. The tea parties are growing and encompassing all the issues. Wake up your apathetic neighbors. Keep building the grassroots. We will prevail. If not, we are going down fighting!
June 26, 2009 at 6:33 pm
CAP AND TRADE PASSES.
NINE REPUBLICAN TURNCOATS VOTED YES.
If they’d stayed with the party line, it would not have passed.
That’s nine sorry Republicans who better look for new jobs….
June 26, 2009 at 7:02 pm
I am livid! I called my Republican Congressman this morning just for the hellavit to make sure he knew I stood with him against this Tax & Tax bill. I was assured he was against it! This afternoon on my local Conservative talk show I found out that this Congressman decided that he had more important things to do and was not even present for the vote. As soon as I found that out, I called his Mesa, AZ office and was told that he was in Alabama attending a pagent that his daughter is in. Are you kidding me??? How many family functions do our service people miss? They miss births, birthdays, Anniversaries, Holidays galore! They can’t just opt out but this guy took a powder on all of us in his District today. I told the poor guy who answered the phone that Congressman Flake just lost my vote. The number of people phoning & calling the talk show echo my sentiments. Flake will NOT be returning to Congress in 2010. He’s history! I am also so angry to know that with 35 Democrats voting against this, that 8 Republicans voted for it. I hope their constituents come down as hard on them as I did on mine. These people represent us, not them selves or anyone who is twisting their arms. This whole business of passing these sweeping bills without even reading them. During the middle of the night 300 new pages were added and NOt ONE of the Congressmen that voted for it had time to read it. I am literally sick to my stomach.
June 26, 2009 at 7:35 pm
You live in Alabama? I went to school in Troy AL for a year.
Kick that loser’s ass out of congress.
June 26, 2009 at 9:59 pm
Tammy – No, I live in Arizona. I’ve lived in alot of states – ND, MN, MT, WY & FL – but not AL.
This Congressman may not be the only AZ politician to bite the dust this yr. McCain is up to his old tricks regarding Amnesty and now our other Senator, Kyl, is doing similar fence sitting & talking the talk but not walking the walk. I do think it is truly time to throw out the whole dang bunch. With the exception of Michelle Bachman. She’s the only one that I see these days who has a brain and isn’t afraid of the other losers in DC. She’s a keeper! I also think term limits need to be instituted and while we’re at it – get rid of these life terms for Supreme Court Justices.
This country needs to go back to its roots or we’re going to lose it forever.
June 26, 2009 at 10:08 pm
frankie, a proponent of term limits? I knew I really liked you. :)
June 27, 2009 at 11:51 am
Way to go Frankie! But I respectfully disagree with you on term limits. We enacted them in MT in the 90’s and we are paying a big price in our legislature – no institutional knowledge, so the lobbyists are really in charge. I fully supported the effort at the time, but no I see it as one of the biggest mistakes (politically speaking) I’ve ever made.
The regular election cycle term limits are best. Get somebody good to run against Flake (and I’m so disappointed in him – thought he was a good guy) and term him out in 2010!!!
June 27, 2009 at 6:03 am
Thank you.
I am so very disappointed in Rep. Flake.
All along I thought he was a good conservative.
I wouldn’t have known any different if you hadn’t told us this story.
That’s why I love this site. We hear from people all over and learn what’s going on in states across the country.
June 27, 2009 at 12:15 am
Get a clue;if Pelousy hadn’t bought off these Republicrats, she would not have allowed Dems in swing districts to vote against this bill to cover their sorry asses. The fix was in all along. They really don’t care what you think anyway.
June 27, 2009 at 8:34 am
EXACTLY.
It’s not about “We the People” anymore.
It’s about “We the Reps Who Want to Stay in Office Forever and Steal Your Money”.
Throw them ALL out!
I’ve had it with these clowns.
June 26, 2009 at 8:06 pm
Another unread bill. This morning at 3 a.m., they brought out a 300 page amendment. They have been killing our economy and our freedoms the last few months with UNREAD BILLS!
Everything they have done so far has harmed us and given themselves more power and wealth.
When are people going to wake up and realize this party(and way too many Republicans also) is no longer for any citizen?
June 26, 2009 at 10:30 pm
TXMom – I chuckled at your reply about me being for term limits. I find it really interesting these days that for so many of us, things we thought we believed in have gone right out the window. Guess I never really thought about term limits that much before but I’m so sick of these people who have been in the Senate & House FOREVER and they’ve totally forgotten who the hell the represent. They get so entrenched and the power goes to their heads.
I’ve been simultaneously reading The 5000 Year Leap and Levin’s Liberty & Tyranny and boy! What an education!
I stopped being spoon fed by the MSM right after 9-11 but up til then, I bought pretty much hook, line & sinker everything that was said on NBC & CBS. I never missed the Today Show – timed myself getting ready for work with that on. I never thought about “fair & balanced”. I took it for granted that I was being told everything I needed to know and that it was the truth. OMG!!!! I can’t believe I was so naive & gullible.
I can remember when I thought that Rush Limbaugh was the biggest jackass on the face of the earth. But I check these postings daily and I see more & more people saying how they too are changing their minds on so many things they once took as gospel.
The more people that take the time to educate themselves, either through reading books or from others as happens on this blog all the time, the more people will become disenchanted with their former beliefs and stand with us to take this country back. I cringe when I think of how many people within my own family would go “cap & trade??? What’s that?” Or the # of people who don’t have a clue what “card check” is about. How many people do we know have no CLUE that this bill was being worked on with a 300 page amendment in the middle of the night?
BTW – Did you see this article on American Thinker yesterday? It is well worth the read:
http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/06/obama_the_african_colonial.html
June 26, 2009 at 10:58 pm
Love Liberty And Tyranny…and Mark Levin. Do you listen to his show? The first hour monologue is dynamic teaching. If you don’t get it, go to his site and you can listen to the previous day. I will tell you a little secret. Can you believe I used to be a flaming bleeding heart liberal? Like you, I watched every single show. Believed they were telling me the truth. I was so very stuuuuuupid. I was for all the wrong causes. And I did not like Rush. ha ha Dick Morris still creeps me a little (lol); but I respect him and try to glean from his wisom now. Hey, frankie, get in touch with churchlady and we can talk. I will check out the article. Love American Thinker. :)
June 26, 2009 at 11:00 pm
Oh, wait. I have not read that article; but Rush talked about it today. Thanks. Will definitely read.
June 27, 2009 at 12:14 am
I don’t catch his show but have caught him on his website. He is dynamic! My dirty little secret is listening to Savage at nite. I used to think he was waaaaaaay out there but boy, these days…..not so much. I don’t like how he calls other Conserv. talk show hosts derogatory names but he’s very insightful on many things & at times he makes me laugh. I think he is a very complex man. I listen but keep an open mind on some of it. He had a Jeff Kuhner (sp???) filling in for him the last hour of his show tonite who said he personally had talked to Democrats who reported to him, under annonymity, that they’d been bribed for their votes today. They were promised bridges, roads, schools. One Dem said he was flat out told to “name his price!” Corruption? NAH!!!! Pardon me for being slow on the uptake, TXMom, what’s this about churchlady. My knowledge of alot of this stuff is limited. I learn mostly by trial & error – mostly error. lol
June 27, 2009 at 2:33 am
frankie, go to your post #136 and read Neenee’s.
June 26, 2009 at 8:17 pm
well, looks like the dogshite, economy killing stamp and smother legislation passed congress.
In order to save the economy, Congress had to burn it to the ground.
This is a very very very sad day in American history.
June 26, 2009 at 8:40 pm
Has anyone heard yet, who the nine Repubs were. I’m shocked. No wait, those days are gone. Nothing this assbags do anymore shocks me.
June 26, 2009 at 10:14 pm
MichL – Michelle Malkin lists them:
Mary Bono, Mike Castle, Mark Kirk, Leonard Lance, Frank LoBiando, John McHugh, Dave Reichert, and Chris Smith (NJ). Bono I know is from CA. One I heard was from WA state. GOP also not voting besides my “former” Rep. Jeff Flake is someone named Sullivan. These votes would have kept this from passing. They are a disgrace and need to be not only run out of office but run out of town on a rail, tarred & feathers like the low lifes they are. If they want to vote Democratic – get the hell out of the Republican party. At least we’d know how they’re going to vote. Hope they got a reeeaaaalllly good pay off cuz they’re gonna be out of jobs!!!!
June 26, 2009 at 11:19 pm
Thanks frankie, I went to her site to see if she had them, and sure enough she does. They need to go on the bye-bye list.
June 27, 2009 at 12:20 am
Glad to oblige. I’d seen her have them up right away and then she put them up again just to make darn sure we all see who the sell-outs are. Don’t know if you saw my earlier rant about my AZ R. Congressman who sold all of us in his District out to go to ALabama for a Jr. Miss pagent for preliminaries for his daughter. Would have been bad but 1/2 understandable if tonite was the finals & his child was in it. But this way…… he’s toast! He made his choice and how those of us in his district will make ours! Decisions like that will be made all over the country in 2010.

CARBONGATE by IBD Editorials
Excerpts.
“On Friday, the day of the vote, the Competitive Enterprise Institute said it was releasing “an internal study on climate science which was suppressed by the Environmental Protection Agency.”
In the release, the institute’s Richard Morrison said “internal EPA e-mail messages, released by CEI earlier in the week, indicate that the report was kept under wraps and its author silenced because of pressure to support the administration’s agenda of regulating carbon dioxide.”
What the report says is that the EPA, by adopting the United Nations’ 2007 “Fourth Assessment” report, is relying on outdated research by its Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The research, it says, is “at best three years out of date in a rapidly changing field” and ignores the latest scientific findings. READ ENTIRE ARTICLE
Little evidence? Outdated U.N. research? No reason to rush? This is not what the Obama administration and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi were telling us when they were rushing to force a Friday vote on Waxman-Markey. We were given the impression that unless we passed this cap-and-tax fiasco, polar bears would be extinct by the Fourth of July
The report was the product of Alan Carlin, senior operations research analyst at the EPA’s National Center for Environmental Economics (NCEE). He’s been with the EPA for 38 years but now has been taken off all climate-related work.”
Carlin was fired from his 38 year job. You know Pelosi and Obama either instructed or knew what EPA was doing. Dirty, dirty thugs.

June 26, 2009 at 8:57 pm
UPDATE; I just read on Malkin’s site that Boehner read Carlin’s EPA report when he was mini-filibustering. The report was too late; but at least he exposed it.
June 26, 2009 at 10:38 pm
Another change in opinion is mine of Dick Morris. I used to think he was a pompus ass but the more I’ve listened to him, the more he seems to always be right in his thinking & predictions. Tonite on Hannity he gave me a glimmer of hope when he said that this Cap & Trade thing may still be killed. Even Hannity was skeptical. But Morris said that even tho the #’s are in favor of the Dems, there are more of them up for re-election in the Ag states that won’t dare turn their backs on the voters. He feels that there is a very good chance for the Senate to defeat this. I sure hope so…..and this EPA report now having time to get out can only be a good thing.
June 27, 2009 at 8:15 am
Morris is a pompous ass, but he still us usually right. But I heard they made an exception for farmers so they won’t be taxed on their farting cows. And since they are growing all that wonderful corn fuel, they get a break. Of course they will still be paying double for gas and energy prices. But his may appease the senators enough to go with it. Anyway, what can I do, my senator is Dick Dirtbag. However, I do plan to go after Burris since the dems in IL are out to get him, maybe he will side with the people.
June 26, 2009 at 8:49 pm
I just found the R’s that voted for the energy tax bill…………….
http://michellemalkin.com/2009/06/26/cap-and-trade-liveblog-part-3-filibuster/
June 26, 2009 at 9:26 pm
Thanks for the list, I was looking for it. I am so PO’d that Kirk is in there! I concentrated on calling the dems in IL and the lone republican turns! He has aspiratations in the state for higher office so he thinks he is going to get some dem votes. I think the ass just wrote his walking papers. I am just furious with the jerk!
June 26, 2009 at 9:40 pm
I already sent him my opinion.
June 26, 2009 at 9:58 pm
Kirk is having a meeting at the Wilmette town hall.Anybody who can make it should let him know he threw away any chance he had to be a senator in 2010 when he sold out to piglosi.I hope he thinks whatever she promised him was worth it.
June 26, 2009 at 10:03 pm
if anyone has directions to Wilmette, please contact me through my username at E-bay;I live about an hour northwest near the Wisconsin border, but i will make the trip!
June 26, 2009 at 11:10 pm
Girlpower- yep, Kirk is dead to me and hopefully dead to the rest of us.
This is legislation, that if passed by the senate, will ruin our economy, I am quite convinced- no ifs ands or buts on that point. It’d be straight out of Ayn Rand.
And if obamacare passes,it’s get in the boats and float to Cuba time- y’know, someplace where one has a chance to be successful.
June 26, 2009 at 11:57 pm
SOG, China might be a better place to be. They just told Obama to go to hell; they were not going to abide by the emissions standards. China and India (another one to consider) are free to do whatever they wish to progress. Also all our money and businesses will be dealing with them even more if the cap and trade passes the Senate. Our money right now is going to them and they are using it to build a greater army while we are cutting our defenses. After all, they have all our debt and will have our wealth very soon. Hey, I just convinced myself. I am goin’ with ya. HA HA HA HA HA
June 27, 2009 at 12:09 am
Sadly, after being inundated with calls all day to vote no,this abomination of a bill still passed.Maybe you guys realize exactly what your elected representatives think of you. They know whats good for you because they are sooo much smarter than you are.
June 27, 2009 at 9:36 am
Here is a copy of the letter I sent. I am faxing it to all the R’s that voted for this poc. And to the dems who were on the fence and fell off to the wrong side.
It won’t make a difference, but I’ll feel better.
Despite an overwhelming response in opposition from the folks around this country, it is just absurd that you would vote in favor of cap and trade. Who do you work for?
This bill cannot change the climate and it certainly is not going to bring about more jobs. Obama called it a “jobs bill” yesterday. Mr. President, tell us how many. How many jobs is this going to cost us? How many more jobs will be lost than the jobs created?
Why does America want to emulate the Spanish model for creating ‘green jobs’ in ‘alternative energy’?
They’ve got 18.1% unemployment. The Australians tried it; they’re seeing the light. The Japanese are seeing the light.
Why is Obama doing this when he can see it hasn’t created any jobs? The net job action is a loss.
Waxman-Markey bill is a disaster. It’s not about saving the planet. It’s not about saving the climate. It’s not about anything other than raising taxes and redistributing wealth.
They ought to call this Waxman-Markey-Madoff, because it’s a con game. It promises what it cannot deliver.
And you Congressman, voted for this industry destroying piece of legislation without reading it.
You don’t represent the people who elected you! Prepare to re-enter the private sector.
June 27, 2009 at 11:13 am
Great letter, PVG!
I respectfully submit a new name for the Waxman/Markey Cap & Trade:
TAXMAN – MALARKEY
Because it’s a bunch of Irish malarkey & the Taxman will be coming for all of us!
June 27, 2009 at 11:30 am
PVG , Love the letter. You motivated me to write our TX traitors. We should consider writing and sending these letters to the editors of newspapers. Might be a way to get the word out to those people who are still unaware of these “ignore the people crooks” in Washington. It could possibly be easier to do than we think…..especially with the smaller town newspapers.
June 26, 2009 at 10:55 pm
I think on Monday I am going to call both of my Senators (who are Democrats) and volunteer my family to come to Washington and read the bill aloud to them before they vote. We will offer to discuss it with them as we read along together. I don’t know how else to make sure the slackers do their homework.
June 26, 2009 at 11:03 pm
I love the way you think! ha ha ha Be sure to call the local press to meet you at their offices. They would love that news story. :)
So cool. ha ha
June 26, 2009 at 11:28 pm
Good idea! I will tell them that I will call all local TV stations, radios, and newspapers to relate my generous offer to the Senators. We’re close enough to Washington that they might show up.
June 26, 2009 at 11:48 pm
ooooooh. Make friends with a couple of them with your obviously wonderful personality and I guarantee you one of them will be there. It is a different kind of story. Is there anybody that seems kind of fair? Maybe a conservative local radio show host? They would love to “make hay” of that situation.

Another one to inspire you for the Tea Parties.

That’s cute! Thanks. :)

I don’t know about you guys, but I am SICK of the Michael Jackson coverage. Sure, I liked his music, but he was a pedophile, and everyone knows it. He also is a recent convert to Islam(like THAT’S gonna get him into heaven).
This article NAILS it. Our country has become a celebrity-obsessed bunch of morons.
Read it.
This woman is my newest favorite columnist.
http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/12363
June 27, 2009 at 8:50 am
I’m with you, Tammy.
Even Fox News had non-stop coverage—night before the Crap & Trade bill yet.
I hadn’t heard about the Islam thing but it doesn’t surprise me. Lifestyle like Jackson’s pretty much sets you up for failure. Much like Benito, Michael himself was the center of his universe. Setting up “Neverland” to indulge his every whim, always searching for the next feel-good-about-himself moment. After years of this, he was still looking at his own mortality. That’s when ‘covering all the bases’ kicks in. Hey, maybe the Muslims have it right. . .just in case I’ll try it.
Tammy, you can probably tell a hundred stories about who are the “real” folks in Hollywood.
June 27, 2009 at 9:43 am
Yeah.
A bunch of self-absorbed assholes in Hollywood.
I do miss the “work” there. Making movies is a hell of a lot of fun.
But I couldn’t/wouldn’t live in California ever again.
Hell, the State is broke, and they are taxing the residents to death to pay for all of the illegals and Government workers.
I can barely stand to live in Lefty Minnesota anymore.
Omaha is looking better every day. And their unemployment is around 4%. I was so surprised as to how sophisticated that little cow town had become when I was there last month.
June 27, 2009 at 11:20 am
Hey, Tammy!
If you do make a move, we’ll be a short 1 1/2 hour drive apart!
Know that you’d have an adopted family real close by, just in case things go to crap in the big cities. Which Omaha is, compared to my little cowtown.
We like-minded people who are close geographically need to be networking off this site . . .
June 27, 2009 at 11:26 am
sorry I found that article unnecessary, hateful and rather cruel.
June 27, 2009 at 1:29 pm
Well, Robert, maybe you’ll like this article instead.
I’m sad that the man passed, but the non-stop coverage and hero worship is rather sickening. Sorry we disagree.
http://bighollywood.breitbart.com/dkonig/2009/06/27/dead-celebrities/
June 27, 2009 at 1:56 pm
I’m with you Tammy. We can regret that the guy died – but come on already…….he did himself in with all the drugs he was taking and to turn him into someone for hero worship the way the press is doing in nuts. Enough already. Maybe a good part of who he turned into is exactly because of this stupid adulation & making him something beyond what he was – a mere mortal!
June 27, 2009 at 8:33 am
Time to take on the Senate. I sure wish I knew how to organize a rally. A million or so of us marching on the capitol before the vote sure would send a message:
Start the chant!
Show the bums to the door.
We the people
Aren’t taking anymore!
By the way Sebastian. We are sure that you are saying see, the republicans have given up on the Palin/Letterman, and you are right. But I think we are done with that because we know we made as much change there as we could. I think that the media is going to start being more careful about what they say about her. But this Crap and Trade bill is way more important to us, as is health care. I think the sleeping giant is awake now and the Republicans and Independents are going to start acting like democrats from now on. People are just too fed up with this big government crap and we are not going to sit down and take it.
We need you guys to help us organize a million citizens march on Washington the day of the Senate vote. Come back and get to work with us! Pretty please. Pretty please with sugar on it. Pretty please with Margaritas???
June 27, 2009 at 9:46 am
Cap and Trade certainly trumps Lecherous Letterman.
I’m with you on that one.
June 27, 2009 at 9:47 am
Has anyone found another site that is actually actively addressing something relevant? Obviously this one is on auto pilot.
Any suggestions?
June 27, 2009 at 9:51 am

PVG – try powerlineblog.com
Coming from MN I enjoy the 3 guys that run this site and the into is always very informative. One on there today about the Friday Night News Dump – info out of WH on keeping terrorists at Gitmo which I saw mentioned on here. Another very good one, if you’re from MN is about Keith Ellison and his lying about who paid for his hajj trip last yr. He says he did but records of Muslim American Society show they paid for it 100%. But, a must read is from yest. titled “Obama Administration Sides With Saudis, Seeks to Deny 9/11 Families Their Day In Court. BO and Holder are wheeling & dealing, kissing Saudi ass at the expense of 9/11 families. Makes ya sick but did we expect anything else when we saw him bow & kiss the hand of the Saudi King???? There is no doubt whatsoever in my mind about just who Dr. Utiopia is and where his loyalties lie – and it certainly isn’t with the citizens of this country!
June 27, 2009 at 12:00 pm
Perhaps the media will be more careful, but Democratic Senators are still circling like sharks … note the Kerry comment this week. Did that get ANY objection from anyone but Palin herself?
June 27, 2009 at 12:34 pm
girlpower, Check out the tea party planned in Washington D.C. on 9-12.
June 27, 2009 at 12:35 pm
sorry. It is a nationwide tea party.
June 27, 2009 at 12:54 pm
In that case, come to Chicago and we will go through Obama’s neighborhood, you know the one where Ayers lives too.
June 27, 2009 at 12:53 pm
Let’s go! Wish we had a way here to pm each other and make plans!
June 27, 2009 at 1:06 pm
They are hoping the nationwide tea party in Washington 9-12 will be huge. I know people here in TX are going. Are you able to? Unfortunately, I am bound to the house taking care of my elderly mom. I even have difficulty leaving her to go shopping. I really want to go. I will have to be happy attending my local on July 4. I would like to be able to pen pal you, though. Maybe we can do that.
June 27, 2009 at 5:59 pm
Girlpower,
TXMom and I are pen pals under the radar. My half.com user name is aspeechgirl2. Send me an email and I’ll put you guys in touch. That goes for you too frankie or glue or ?.
June 27, 2009 at 6:37 pm
A conservative radio station in Fresno, CA was making the suggestion of finding people who could run for office, to replace the useless incumbents, at these tea parties.
He was giving a shout out on the radio to anyone who plans these tea parties that it would be a great place to find the talented and inspired people to run in 2010. Which is just around the corner when you include the fundraisers needed to support grassroots candidates.
Just a thought.
June 29, 2009 at 7:20 pm
Tim Cox, of Austin, TX, has been in the process of doing this since 2006, and he has a great plan.
Go to http://www.goooh.com and sign up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
June 27, 2009 at 12:17 pm
Obama considers detaining terrorists indefinitely:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/06/26/AR2009062603361.html?hpid=topnews
The question for me is – if he is allowing the terrorists in Gitmo to be released, then just who is defined as terrorists to barry? Who exactly is it that he wants to confine for good?
I can guess.
BTW I am posting this at the bottom of the comment section, but I don’t know what number is will land at. :-)
June 27, 2009 at 7:19 pm
Yeah, and doesn’t everyone remember how CRAZY the Left went when George Bush held these guys “indefinitely”?
This Obama is such a phony. Everything that comes out of his mouth is a flat out lie. He doesn’t even try to sugar coat anymore. He wants to be Dictator, not President.
June 27, 2009 at 12:36 pm
Reps who voted against have been thanked by email (one of the defecting Dems is from Colorado).
CO senators have been emailed and called urging them to vote against.
I can’t believe our representatives are so INSANE as to vote for something so ridiculous and unscientifically based at a time of fiscal distress. Are they just ASKING not to be re-elected?
June 27, 2009 at 7:42 pm
That was my CO representative who voted against the bill. I was so happy with him! Now I will inundate the senators from CO with emails, etc., to get them to come to their senses.
June 27, 2009 at 12:41 pm
oops. Some of the suggestions for neighborhood activism are Tea Party Warriors Manual, Circle of Five, In-home tea parties.
June 27, 2009 at 2:59 pm
Well…this time no posts for almost ten days…I will miss you guys but I am thinking it’s time to find a new blog??
June 27, 2009 at 3:14 pm
Hey, let me know if you find one. :) I definitely want to stay in touch.
June 27, 2009 at 9:47 pm
It is sad that this blog isn’t being kept up as it had been. I’m sure it has to be alot of work & time consuming but if it’s too much, tell us and end it. It is getting increasingly frustraing & tedius going thru 479 postings & not having them come out at the right #, etc. I lurked at this site for a long time before becoming comfortable & trusting enough with what I was reading from all of you to want to add my 2 cents forth. You’re a great group! I will miss TXMom, Tammy, NeeNee, Ten, rise, PVG, MichL, Delle, SDB and so many others of you. Maybe we’ll all meet up on the battle field for democracy at some point. Meanwhile, unless we meet back here again – Best of Luck to all of you! I hope with the grace of God and some really good luck along the way we can save this country of ours & return it to its former greatness sans The One and our sell-out politicians.
June 27, 2009 at 9:54 pm
FRANKIE, ANSWER ME NOW. Go to e-bay and look for churchlady 1904. That is Neenee. Get in touch with her.
June 27, 2009 at 10:00 pm
frankie, do not leave until we can get in touch with each other. Hold on.
June 27, 2009 at 10:02 pm
SDB,
Go to the eBay site. Upper right corner: click site map. Left hand column, under “buy”. Go about 2/3 way down, click on search for items. When that page comes up, click on “search by seller” on left box. Type in churchlady1904 and hit search. It will bring up my page. Then you can click “ask seller question”.
June 27, 2009 at 10:04 pm
I mean Frankie, not SDB! Duh . . .
June 27, 2009 at 10:55 pm
TXMOM – found both churchlady1904 and aspeechgirl2 on ebay but am not registered on that site. Looked around on ebay cafe but not the kind of posting we do here. Maybe I wasn’t in the right spot. I’m kind of an oldy moldy when it comes to this stuff anyhow. Takes me a bit to get comfy. My 34 yr old son tells me not to sell myself short – I do way more than alot of people much younger but – still, I’m not as up on all this stuff as most of you seem to be. I’m not quite at the “draw me a diagram” level – but close! lol
June 27, 2009 at 11:12 pm
NeeNee – I told you I needed a diagram – you got me all the way to your page but I can’t find the “ask sellar question”. Do I need to be registered for that to show up on your page? Sorry to be so dense! :-(
June 27, 2009 at 11:13 pm
I am not good at that stuff and had to have specific instructions. Can’t you register? My hubby had already registered on e-bay. Wait. I don’t think you have to register for PVG, do you? Did you see Neenee’s instructions? If not, Go to the eBay site. Upper right corner: click site map. Left hand column, under “buy”. Go about 2/3 way down, click on search for items. When that page comes up, click on “search by seller” on left box. Type in churchlady1904 and hit search. It will bring up my page. Then you can click “ask seller question”.
Go ahead and register. Do not leave HB until we have contacted each other. If you can’t do it tonight, tomorrow will be fine. Tell me when you succeed.
June 27, 2009 at 11:42 pm
Frankie,
I don’t think you have to be a member with half.com.
Google half.com. In the search space type, Home For Christmas. Choose music.
Scroll down until you find Hall and Oates, click on it.
Scroll down until you find aspeechgirl2.
Click on the 114 next to my user name.
On the right side you’ll see ask seller a question, click on it, and type away.
It sounds harder than it is. It’s a cinch.
Go for it!
June 27, 2009 at 11:44 pm
TX – I went back over the directions you gave which were same as NeeNee’s. Must be blind cuz I’ve been over the page countless times and see no “ask seller question”. I went ahead & registered but I gotta tell ya – my butts getting sore from sitting here for so long. Waiting for confirmation from ebay on my registration so will call it a night & try again in the morning. I will check in to HB & see if per chance the guys are back with something or what else other poster’s may have added.
June 28, 2009 at 7:43 am
Frankie, you’re almost there! If you’ve brought up my page of items you can also just click on my feedback #, 2223, next to my name. That will take you to a different page with my feedbacks. Opposite the box of star ratings on that page is member quick links. Click contact member.
If you’re on an actual item page, look in the right margin area opposite item photo & bid area. There’s a seller info box. Says “churchlady1904, 100% feedback, read feedback profile, ask a question, view selleres other items.” Click on the ask a question.
eBay has changed page format lately & I didn’t realize things might look different to somebody who doesn’t visit often!
June 28, 2009 at 12:23 pm
TX & NeeNee – An new day & success! I got to the right spot & posted a msg to churchlady1904! Was having brain freeze last nite I guess. I clicked on virtually everything BUT the feedback #. Thanks for your patience! You guys are great!
June 27, 2009 at 7:42 pm
Yeah, they’re probably wondering how long until we get the message.
SDB, my user name is aspeechgirl2 on half.com. I’m in touch with many of the posters off the radar. Send me an email and we’ll all keep in touch.
I’m done with this. So much for my investment.
June 27, 2009 at 8:00 pm
I don’t know if this is proper but anyhow:

June 28, 2009 at 4:03 pm
Hang in there, people. I am sure the Hillbuzz boys have their reasons. Wait until you hear them.
Until then, my very best wishes to Hillbuzz. I hope the boys are OK.
June 29, 2009 at 10:37 am
We’ll probably hang in but it doesn’t mean we aren’t allowed to communicate with each other off this site as well…
June 30, 2009 at 1:00 am
No one’s saying you can’t do that, SDB. It’s great that you have made friends on this site! That’s one of the things that’s so good about it.
June 29, 2009 at 11:04 am
I have been ‘hanging in there’ but it is now Monday morning.
I was hoping that when I checked the site today, there would be a messege from Hillbuzz, along with an explanation concerning their absence.
There wasn’t.
And so, I have to conclude that the boz are no longer interested in the wonderful site they started.
It makes me sad. :-(
June 27, 2009 at 3:37 pm
This will infuriate you! We know they don’t read the bills; but they don’t even put together a final copy. That 300 page amendment cannot make sense unless it is put in a finaly copy. http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2009/06/023909.php
“Texas Republican Reps. Joe Barton and Louie Gohmert have just asked the chair whether there exists a complete, updated copy of the Waxman-Markey carbon-cap bill.
“If a bill for which there is no copy were to actually pass this body,” Barton asked, “could the bill without a copy be sent to the Senate for its consideration?”
June 28, 2009 at 12:24 am
“We stand corrected, the truth is every Democrat hopes Governor Palin is in the public eye for a long, long time, especially on the 2012 presidential ballot,” Kerry spokeswoman Jodi Seth says. “Lately it’s been Vice President Cheney that everyone hopes would lose the cameras and go for a long leisurely hike on the Appalachian Trail. And good grief, if anyone thinks John Kerry is afraid of strong, smart women, they sure haven’t met his brilliant wife and two independent daughters. It sounds like getting crushed these last two election cycles cost some of these Republicans their sense of humor.”
This Jodi Seth sounds like a smug peice of work that needs to eat her words.
June 28, 2009 at 1:10 am
What if we went to the Tea Parties with petitions calling for David Letterman to be fired and brought along pre-printed post cards and letters people could sign (after filling in their return address) that we would mail to CBS and Letterman’s sponsors?
We should press this until Letterman is fired.
Cynthia
June 28, 2009 at 1:35 am
Cynthia, what an excellent idea! What are your ideas on how we can save postage? I know their is a way….I am up too late tonight to figure it out. Love it. I am willing to do that at our tea party. :)
June 28, 2009 at 5:21 pm
In addition to my Florida site I’ve set up a very basic forum at http://mostly4us.com/ for those interested in networking.
June 29, 2009 at 10:35 am
Hi FLMom…JDR asked that I mentioned some troubles with receiving a password and login…not sure what can be done…just said I would mention it..
June 28, 2009 at 5:31 pm
OK,HILLBUZZERS,LISTEN UP!!!!!!go to:lakecountyteaparty.com NOW!They are having a protest outside Mark Kirks office Mon.,June29 and outside Melissa Beans office on Tuesday,June30.The website has the addresses and phone&fax numbers for each office. They also have a petition you can sign online.Time to let them hear it loud and clear.
June 28, 2009 at 5:45 pm
Signed it! Hope they take my TX address. :)
I will also forward info.
June 28, 2009 at 8:45 pm
I hate to see the lack of posting on this blog. I have really loved it here for awhile now and miss the humor and info….. I hope it’s not forever.
June 29, 2009 at 12:09 pm
I doubt the absence is “forever.” There was a big Pride parade in Chi Town this weekend. I’ll bet the guys were busy preparing, then marching, then celebrating and now recuperating…in addition to working hard at their paying jobs and also getting the new site ready.
Just a guess.
June 29, 2009 at 1:22 pm
But it only takes a few seconds to put up an open thread each day.
June 29, 2009 at 5:36 am

Supreme Court overrules Sonia Sotomayor’s ruling in Firefighter’s case.

JUSTICE IS SERVED on this moon in LIBRA day!!
(Libra = symbol of justice!)
1. Bernie Madoff sentenced to 150 years! Next, govt must find the money and give it back to the victims.
2. Supreme Court overturns the decision in the New Haven, Connecticut, discrimination case against white firefighters (one of whom is of Spanish descent) who PASSED the test for promotion but were denied (tests thrown out) because black firefighters all failed. Sonia Sotomayor, RAAAAAACIST extraordinaire, was an appeals court judge who made the earlier RAAAAAAAAACIST decision.
As a Libra, I LOVE days like this!!!!!!!!!!!
June 29, 2009 at 12:46 pm
I am so absolutely sick and tired of this ‘newspeak’!
There is no such thing as reverse discrimination.
When one group is favored over another, for reasons of color, it is discrimination!
PERIOD!
June 29, 2009 at 12:35 pm
So hillbuzz took the lead on the Letterman boycott and then abandoned their site.
Weird.
Anyone have any ideas where all of us, Dems, Reps and Indys can all meet up?
June 29, 2009 at 7:09 pm
Like last time, I don’t think the guys have abandoned us. They said they’d need time off periodically, (and if I recall correctly, they’d also had glitches with their system). I’m sure they’ll be back.
But to answer your second question: there’s a site where I hope everyone, including the ‘Buzz Boyz, will go to, namely, http://www.goooh.com and sign up.
Pronounced “go,” the the GOOOH acronym stands for Get Out of Our House, and everyone member of this nonpartisan “party” is working to rid the House of Reps of all its current 345 members and replace them with real people from GOOOH.
There’s a whole lot more to it than what I’ve said. Please, for those of you who’ve been asking how the real revolt will take place, I do believe this is your answer. The more people who join, the better the chances that GOOOH’s strategy will work.

I don’t know at what number this message is going to land. It should be #174.
I stated earlier that I was giving up hope about the boyz returning to their blog.
Nevertheless, I continue to check it periodically.
I’m so glad to find comments from the ‘regulars’.
Thanks.
Let’s hope this blog stays alive.
It is a great one!

I think the guys are toast. Last week was a huge news week. I can’t believe that they had no comments. Even if they were going to gay parade, that was just one day. It would have been nice if they had given us some explaination. Anyway, hope everyone will follow over to FLMom’s site.
June 29, 2009 at 8:14 pm

how does one get into FLMom’s?
Or, rather, once one is in,
how do we log in with a password? I cannot register.

As SoS Hillary is not allowed to disagree with O. It sucks, but those are the facts. Unfortunately she has to go along with him. It’s like the assistant manager not agreeing with the manager. It just can’t happen. I agree she has sold out a bit, because originally she was saying no decision had been made, but then had to take his side. She may be on the ticket with him in 2012, so she’ll have to sell out in order to get where she wants to go. Sad, I know, but many of us have been in similar circumstances. I truly would like to think that had she become president she would have approved of the removal of Zelaya.

Hello,
I have posted only once on here, so far,
but have been reading in this web-site
since last early Fall.
If you folks move to another site, I guess
that I will join you there, as I would miss
seeing your posts. You seem like some kind
of relatives to me by now.
I did not get around to write to anyone
about the cap and trade bill, but I plan to
try to bombard congressmen about the health
care issue. I need to keep vigilant about
the issues. Some of my friends have no
intention of contacting anyone or even paying much attention to what is going on
nationally, and it is very disturbing to me.
When I tell one of my friends about what I
find out on the internet, her favorite
saying is “We can’t believe everything that
we read.” I said that I don’t, and that one needs to consider the source of the info
read.
I am going to ‘hang in here’ for a few more
days, as I think that the Hillbuzz guys are
busy trying to get their new site launched;
plus, maybe there is a server problem as
the other time recently.
Will try to do better at posting !!

Sign in with your same name. You will get a password to cut and paste, and then you can change it to something you can remember when you get in. See you all on the right side! Or is the the right of center, or is that the left of center. Who knows, just check it out!

Can someone open a non-partisan blog where we can all go to that doesn’t censor posters?
This is lame in here.
June 30, 2009 at 5:10 pm
Where are the Hill Buzz guys? Please check in with us.We miss you.
June 30, 2009 at 5:45 pm

June 30, 2009 at 10:20 pm
Hey Everybody!!!
I’ve changed some settings on my blog and I am hereby inviting all of you to c’mon over to Big Sky Country for a little summer vacation. Think of it as “HillBuzz Summer Camp” out west.
I don’t have nearly the time, energy, or skills that our Boyz have, but together we can keep this group going until Kevin, Robby, and Sebastian get back to posting.
Sometimes the universe brings you the wrong French Toast – and it turns out to be Huckleberry pancakes. Buzz on over for a taste and meet some new cyberfriends too.

Welcome to July!

Darn shame…the Letterman boycott got this site the biggest, well, BUZZ they’d ever had and then they squander it by vanishing…AGAIN.
I defended them last time but now I feel foolish for doing so. There is simply no excuse for going weeks without even opening an open thread. It takes SECONDS to do.
In this day and age of tech advances there is no other explanation than they have abandoned this blog at the height of their success.
And what happened to all that crap about visiting Alaska in “June.”
Yeah that worked out well too.
Sorry but I’m done defending them. Outta here with great sadness and farewells to ALL of my friends here across the political spectrum…it’s been great. God Bless America and God Bless all of YOU!

Hillbuzz,
I just read in the comments on Uppit Woman that you have abandoned the blog. PLease let everyone know what is going on-this is a community that many of us visit every day and we will understand whatever is but feel a need to know since we are losing for the most part Uppity Woman. Who’s next?
July 2, 2009 at 11:02 am
Hey, don’t be sad, abandoned buzzers, most of us are over here: FLMOM’s site http://www.mostly4us.com/
Come on and join us, we’re waiting for the rest of you!
July 2, 2009 at 12:52 pm
Testing. Testing.
Want to see if this blog is still active.
July 2, 2009 at 6:04 pm
Did Hillbuzz really just abandon their site??? Wouldn’t they tell us that this was the end of the road and not just disappear? Maybe they are ill or on vacation for summer.
Hillbuzz, please let us know if you are permanently abandoning the site or just taking a much needed vacation!

July 3, 2009 at 8:07 pm
This is sort of like a Twilight Zone show…no HB, no Sebastian guest shot, nor a Laura Cohan column….just us. I half expect to hear dodedo, dodedo, and then hear Rod Serling speaking…are we all alone in this little pocket of cyberspace? I hope not.
July 3, 2009 at 8:20 pm
Palin Standing down as Governor :(.
don’t know why, Hope she runs for Senate
July 4, 2009 at 1:37 am
I pulled together the CBS and sponsor info from here and elsewhere on the Internet and published it at my blog, A Conservative Lesbian, in PDF format that is easy to print or download. I made an effort to attribute all the info I got from HillBuzz — if I left anything out, let me know and I’ll update. The post was linked by Instapundit, since our respective predictions that if we didn’t get Letterman fired the bullies would multiply is now getting through to people following Gov. Palin’s resignation.
Please keep in touch, Sebastian.
Cynthia
July 4, 2009 at 1:42 am
The obvious reason for standing pat on the current post on the importance of persistence is that people need to read it every day until they get the message, do the work and Letterman is fired.
Plus, this is the time when HillBuzz promised to change platforms, servers, etc. That takes a lot of work.
Keep reading the post on persistence. It is extremely important to keep reading it and really, truly, deeply get what Sebastian is saying.

FLMom did it pretty much on her own. And got it up and running quickly. She apologized profusely for putting up a “barebones” site, but it was good enough to let us abandoned Hillbuzz people communicate.
Every day she’s improving the site’s appearance and content.
Boyz, I loved this site and appreciate the forum you provided for so long. But you’ve got to put up a post if you want continued success. If we can visit here, you or certainly a friend could post an update. I respectfully challenge you to do just that.
July 6, 2009 at 3:17 am
Hi Everyone – Sorry for not participating recently, I have been so very busy.
I don’t know much about the HB guys’ status, but I do think they were organizing support for a parade that happened about a week ago. Hopefully they will be back in action here soon.
July 6, 2009 at 8:55 am
EricP, we’ve all moved to FLMom’s site! You’re about the only one we haven’t seen there yet. Go to:

Did you all hear Hillary’s foreign policy speech covered on all the cable news programs? Even FOX said how brilliant she was and how much clarity she has on our country and the rest of the world. Oh if things could have turned out differently. She is frickin’ brilliant! How sad she is not our President.

You guys at Hillbuzz are liars and hypocrites.
Farewell.

You go, Sandy!!!! I’m a former WAMU customer, forced to Chase, and I HATE them. I’ll be closing my accts next week, and seriously considering either settling on my credit cards (formerly from WAMU)by using a nonprofit agency or claiming bankruptcy outright, keeping only the card from the company (Discover) that didn’t screw me. Eff Chase, and all the crook banks and bankers out there. DIE!
Credit ratings don’t mean shit anymore.
Seriously, way to go! You’re a hero!!
