World Naked Bike Ride Is Tonight — June 13th
Heads-up if you live in a major US city like Chicago — tonight’s World Naked Bike Ride, something that typically surprises just about everyone.
In Chicago, hundreds of stark-naked people and people dressed in costumes will gather and then ride through the Loop, down Michicagn Avenue, and then up to Halsted and off to Lincoln Park and parts unknown (and uncovered), passing through Boystown around 8-830 or so (if it’s like last year).
The look on people’s faces when this happens is priceless. We plan on being at Sidetrack’s, Roscoe’s, or Cocktail at chairs by the windows as all these people ride by — presumably to protest the world’s dependence on oil, but mainly it’s just a bunch of kooks and loons dressed up crazy, or wearing nothing at all, riding bikes through the streets.
After IML on Memorial Day weekend, it’s the second-craziest thing to happen in Boystown every year — and if you’re in a big city, it’s probably going to happen there too, where everyone will once again be all surprised by it.
Does Wyeth Pharmaceuticals support the statutory rape of 14 year-olds?
Wyeth Pharmaceuticals is headquartered in Madison, NJ and is one of the largest research-based pharmaceutical and healthcare product companies in the world. It is also, by way of Centrum vitamins, one of David Letterman’s sponsors for The Late Show with David Letterman. Every Centrum vitamin you buy helps keep the lights on in the Ed Sullivan Theater, where on June 8th 2009 David Letterman treated statutory rape as a laughing matter when he “joked” that 14 year-old Willow Palin, the only Palin daughter who attended a baseball game that day, was “knocked up” by 33 year-old Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees during the game.
“Knocking up” a 14 year-old girl is statutory rape.
Wyeth Pharmaceuticals and Centrum vitamins support the exploitation and brutalization of young women by buying ad space on David Letterman’s program and website.
WRITE TO WYETH AND LET THE FOLLOWING PEOPLE KNOW THAT YOU WILL NOT PURCHASE THEIR PRODUCTS SO LONG AS THEY CONTINUE TO SUPPORT STATUTORY RAPE OF MINORS BY WAY OF THE DAVID LETTERMAN SHOW:
C-Suite Executives of Wyeth:
(1) Bernard Poussot – Chairman, President, CEO
(2) Timothy P. Cost – Senior VP, Corporate Affairs
(3) Gregory Norden – SVP and CFO
(4) Jeffrey E. Keisling – VP Corporate Information Services and CFO
Use this address:
Wyeth
PO Box 237155
New York, New York 10023
and also send letters to the above executives at this address:
Wyeth
5 Giralda Farms
Madison, New Jersey 07940
Also, FAX Wyeth letters at: FAX (973) 660-7111
Call Wyeth at Phone: (973) 660-5500
Email Wyeth at: pr@wyeth.com
If you want to GUARANTEE these executives will read your letter, FedEx it to them at the Giralda Farms address. FedEx-es are rushed directly up to the executive’s office.
Writing letters and mailing them through the USPS is the next best option: those letters will be processed by the mailroom and will ultimately reach the executives.
FAX-ing is also a great way to get your complaint to Wyeth. All of these options generate paper at the company that Wyeth must deal with.
Calling Wyeth comes after FAX-ing in terms of what will have an impact.
Emails are the weakest way of reaching Wyeth, but are stil a way to get your point across if you can’t do any of the above.
Be polite, professional, and keep asking Wyeth how it could support a program like Letterman’s where the statutory rape of 14 year-olds is treated as comedy material. Ask what Wyeth’s corporate policy is on statutory rape, and inquire whether the June 8th episode of David Letterman’s show is indicative of how Wyeth feels about women.
Saturday Open Thread: David Letterman Boycott Day Four
The Olive Garden, Mars Candy, and Kelloggs are three of David Letterman’s biggest advertisers.
What is their corporate stance on the statutory rape of a 14 year old at a baseball game, which David Letterman (and, most likely, men like him in groups such as NAMBLA) think is hilariously funny? If these companies continue to advertise on The Late Show after Letterman so vulgarly said that New York Yankess player Alex Rodriguez, 33, “knocked up” Willow Palin, 14, the only Palin daughter at the New York Yankees game June 8th that Letterman was “joking” about, then these companies support the exploitation and brutalization of minors by helping to keep David Letterman on the air.
How does corporate America justify keeping the lights on at the Ed Sullivan theater for Letterman to brutalize children?
How do companies who stand with David Letterman explain to their customers that they knowingly and deliberately pay for Letterman’s platform that encourages the exploitation of minors?
Why should parents continue to patronize companies that sponsor a man who thinks the statutory rape of a 14 year old girl by a hulking 33 year old man is funny?
The addresses for David Letterman’s sponsors are at this link: we believe focusing on directing all complaints towards three big advertisers like The Olive Garden, Mars Candy, and Kelloggs is the most efficient use of time and resources as thousands and thousands of letters sent to these three companies will have more of an impact than thousands and thousands of letters diluted amongst the hundred or so advertisers who rotate spots on Letterman.
Take down three of Letterman’s biggest sources of income, and CBS will take notice and be forced to make changes going forward to protect their revenue stream.
