The Olive Garden, a subsidiary of the Darden Restaurant Group, is one of David Letterman’s largest advertisers, along with Mars Candy, Kelloggs, and Hellmann’s Mayonnaise, all companies who cater to families and advertise themselves as family-friendly: and yet all pay millions of dollars to CBS to keep David Letterman on the air, where he makes “jokes” about Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees statutory-raping 14 year olds at baseball games, going on to say those 14 year olds are also prostitutes hired by disgraced former Governor Eliot Spitzer.
Does The Olive Garden support the statutory rape of 14 year olds?
Has Clarence Otis Jr., Olive Garden’s Chairman, decided promoting the statutory rape of minors by baseball players is the best way to sell unlimited salad and breadsticks?
Does Andrew H. Madsen, Olive Garden’s President, believe statutory rape of politicians’ children fits the brand and marketing strategy of his restaurant chain?
Because, it sure seems like Olive Garden thinks David Letterman is funny: as of 6/11/09, they are still advertising on David Letterman’s show, where on 6/8/09 the 62-year-old pervert told America Willow Palin was statutory-raped by Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees during the baseball game her mother, Alaska Governor, Sarah Palin, took her to at the new Yankees Stadium. Letterman said the rape resulted in Willow being forcibly impregnated by A-rod (“knocked up during the game”, as Letterman crudely put it). The following day, 6/9/09, Letterman claimed Willow was now a 14-year-old prostitute joining the ranks of the escorts serving the likes of Eliot Spitzer.
Letterman thinks the exploitation of a minor is hilariously funny.
What does The Olive Garden think?
Corporations voice their opionions with the money they spend: and The Olive Garden sure spends a lot of money keeping David Letterman on the air.
Here are the facts for writing to every member of The Olive Garden’s executive board:
(1) Willow Palin was the only Palin daughter to travel to New York with her mother Sarah Palin in June of 2009
(2) Willow Palin was the only Palin daughter to attend the New York Yankees baseball game with her mother Sarah Palin on June 8th, 2009
(3) Willow Palin is 14 years old
(4) In every state in the union, sexual relations with a 14 year-old committed by a man over the age of 18 is statutory rape
(5) New York Yankees baseball player Alex “A-rod” Rodriguez is 34 years old
(6) Sex between a 14 year old and a 34 years old is statutory rape in New York
(7) On June 8th, 2009, Late Show host David Letterman said Alex Rodriguez had sex with, and impregnated, the Palin daughter attending the New York Yankees game that day.
(8) The only Palin daughter attending the New York Yankees game was Willow Palin, age 14, making the sexual act and forcible impregnation Letterman “joked” about statutory rape under New York law
(9) On June 9th, 2009, David Letterman then stated that 14 year-old Willow Palin, the only Palin daughter in New York, was also a prostitute of the variety that serviced former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer.
(10) The Olive Garden is one of David Letterman’s biggest sponsors, running ads nightly on his program, where he tells “jokes” about statutory rape of 14 year olds, whom he later calls prostitutes.
Does The Olive Garden think these “jokes” are funny?
Is such brutalization and exploitation of minors part of The Olive Garden’s brand strategy?
What will be the response of The Olive Garden should concerned parents and citizens organize peaceful protests outside their locations in cities coast-to-coast until The Olive Garden clarifies its position on the statutory rape of minors?
PLEASE write to the following executives at Olive Garden and note their responses to you at this thread below. If you want to GUARANTEE these people will read your letters, FedEx-ing them will get them directly into their hands. Yes, it is much more expensive than putting a stamp on a letter, but in the corporate world regular first class mail ends up in a mail room and sorted by interns all summer. FedEx-es addressed to executives will be rushed up to the executive suite, where they will be delivered to the desk of their recipients in the morning. It is GUARANTEED the CEOs, Presidents, COOs, etc. will receive those letters.
All mail to corporations is recorded, we know that for a fact too. Each letter written in today’s day and age of telephone and email is counted as at least 6-10 people out there who did not bother to take the time to write (some companies we deal with say they treat each piece of mail as 20-25 unspoken voices sharing similar sentiment).
Keep it professional.
Keep it to one page.
Keep writing these people every day so that their mail rooms fill up to bursting with letters asking again and again if OLIVE GARDEN DOES INDEED SUPPORT THE STATUTORY RAPE OF 14 YEAR-OLDS, because their financial support of David Letterman and his late night perverse pigfest certainly says that to us.
THE OLIVE GARDEN CONTACT INFORMATION:
(1) Clarence J. Otis — Chairman/CEO
(2) Andrew H. Madsen — President/COO
(3) David T. Pickens — Senior VP
(4) Brad Richmond — CFO
(5) Valerie K. Collins — Corporate Controller

When writing, please use your best manners, grammar, and professionalism. Zero expletives. Nothing that could diminish the message you are sending.
Just keep asking Olive Garden if indeed they do support statutory rape of minors and, if not, why they financially back someone who thinks such a horror is funny?
Write to all 8 people above every day for as long as you can keep printing out letters, sticking them in envelopes, and can afford to stick stamps on them.
Call your local Olive Garden and let them know you will no longer be eating there until such time as Olive Garden stops supporting the statutory rape of minors by advertising on the Late Show with David Letterman.

Darden also owns Red Lobster… I will attach the information

I wonder when ARod is going to speak out about this? But then again his silence speaks volumes — guess he was thinking the same thing as this pedophile!
June 11, 2009 at 6:56 pm
Pretty unbelievable… NOW has weighed in on this:
http://www.now.org/issues/media/hall-of-shame/
“NOW Analysis: After two nights of “jokes” at the expense of Palin and her family, Letterman tried to explain himself and offer something of an apology. On his June 10 show, Letterman said he was referring to Palin’s 18-year-old daughter, Bristol — not the 14-year-old daughter who actually accompanied Palin on her New York trip. Letterman said “I recognize that these are ugly” jokes. NOW agrees. Comedians in search of a laugh should really know better than to snicker about men having sex with teenage girls (or young women) less than half their age.
The sexualization of girls and women in the media is reaching new lows these days — it is exploitative and has a negative effect on how all women and girls are perceived and how they view themselves. Letterman also joked about what he called Palin’s “slutty flight attendant look” — yet another example of how the media love to focus on a woman politician’s appearance, especially as it relates to her sexual appeal to men. Someone of Letterman’s stature, who appears on what used to be known as “the Tiffany Network” (CBS), should be above wallowing in the juvenile, sexist mud that other comedians and broadcasters seem to prefer.
On that point, it’s important to note that when Chelsea Clinton was 13 years old she was the target of numerous insults based on her appearance. Rush Limbaugh even referred to her as the “White House dog.” NOW hopes that all the conservatives who are fired up about sexism in the media lately will join us in calling out sexism when it is directed at women who aren’t professed conservatives.
Take Action: Write to CBS and tell them what you think.”
June 11, 2009 at 7:02 pm
I consider this a tepid response at best. Sexism is never acceptable…where’s the outrage from this prominent group? Just a slap on the wrist.
June 11, 2009 at 7:19 pm
Exactly. Where was NOW’s support for Hillary? Their umbrage over her? Much LESS Sarah Palin?
Toothless pandering to the “liberals,” better known as the “misogynists.”
They cannot simply call out what Letterman did as completely sexist, much less as laughing about hypothetical sexual abuse of a minor. They cannot be non-partisan; they now have to make a partisan equivocation vis-a-vis Chelsea Clinton.
Where was NOW’s outrage at MSNBC talking heads saying — just last year — that Hillary was “pimping out” Chelsea? Nope — let’s go back to 1993 to fish for an analogy to appease the “liberal” base in this transparent display to draw an equivalence from it.
Disgusting. This misogyny is why I am a PUMA. And, naturally, a huge fan of the HB boys and the work they do.

Dear Joanne,
Thank you for your email.
Thank you for bringing this important matter to our attention. I can confirm to you that Ancestry.com is not an advertiser or sponsor of the CBS Late Show with David Letterman. It is unclear how the company’s name ended up on this list, but it appears to be a mistake. We would appreciate your help in spreading the correct information.

Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda something listened to some vh1 guy say Palin was likes herpes. They said nothing!

I for the life of me can’t imagine how these sick puppies can influence people, but the fact is that you repeat a lie often enough, the perception is that it is the truth. I never noticed the bile coming out of the Democrats at the National Level until the Gore Campaign…..which may have coincided with the emergence of Dean. Since then, the lies and the slime can’t come in thick enough. Irony is that these are the same people who tried to be all touchy feeley, but when that didn’t work, went right for the jugular. These are the people who are frightened to death of the Palins….the entire family. I think that they need to diminish the Palins in order to feel good about themselves and not think of how sick, perverted, slimy, trashy, tacky, or crooked their own lives are. For this reason, I fear greatly for the safety of the Palins as they represent a goal these people will never achieve, and given how sick many of those who think like Letterman are, it is worrisome.
June 11, 2009 at 7:37 pm
NOW didn’t complain when Palin was called a c**t. Oh yeah, the people saying it supported their chosen candidate – the male.
Did they complain when the Bros before Hos shirts were being sold? When benito gave the finger to HRC or played 99 problems at rallies?
How could any group calling itself a women’s organization support the less qualified male over the more qualified female HRC?
June 11, 2009 at 7:37 pm
I know where the Corporate headquarters is here in Orlando. Think NOW would stand with me and protest??

Forgot Darden also owns Longhorn Steak House and Capital Grille. Mr. Otis total fiscal comp. AY 2007 was 3.8M and base salary $859,069. See backround:

June 12, 2009 at 11:54 am
Mr. Otis is a big backer of BO..he is a member of 100 Black Men. Obviously he does not know about this episode with Letterman or does not care.
June 11, 2009 at 7:48 pm
Remember folks while contacting Darden to remind them that in this economy folks tend not to eat out as much and those who spend the most money to eat are families with children and those who are parents may just think twice about eating at their resteraunts( though those of us with no children who have mothers and sisters and nieces count too) ..Darden can not afford to swipe this under the rug and think it will go away in a few months the economy isn’t going to get better anytime soon and this will be just one reason to pass by their resteraunts.
*thank you Hillbuzz for all that you have been doing to get out the information to make a diffrence grass roots counts

I sent this to OG this afternoon:
I understand that you are a major sponsor of “Late Night with David Letterman.” Do you support Mr. Letterman’s recent disgusting “jokes” about the statutory rape of a 14 year old girl? I certainly hope not. I hope to see soon that you have withdrawn your support of Letterman’s program and issue some kind of statement condemning his obscene and tasteless remarks. My family and I will NOT be eating in any of your restaurants again if you are going to support this sort of outrageous and disgusting behavior.
June 11, 2009 at 8:02 pm
I also sent an email to Olive Garden and referenced both the Olive Garden and Red Lobster I eat at and mentioned the city/state so they’d know I was serious. I would really hate to have to stop eating at Olive Garden and Red Lobster so hope it helped to list actual restaurants. I should probably send another email and attached some of my receipts!
June 11, 2009 at 10:42 pm
Just to inform others of the “Customer Relations” direct email form to post your comments to each of the Darden restaurants.
Here’s the link:
http://investor.dardenrestaurants.com/abt_comment.cfm
My comments were:
“Never have I ever written to a company about their sponsorships, media buys or business practices. Yet today, I cannot be silent. I wish to inform you that I am absolutely appalled by the David Letterman remarks about the Yankees’ baseball player raping the 14 year old daughter of Governor Sarah Palin. His comments are beyond sick, whether the daughter is 14, 18 or any other age. His nasty, disgusting attacks on public officials, children and women are not only sick but reprehensible and totally inexcusable.
You know I won’t be spending my money at Red Lobster (list each restaurant here to post comment to each one) locally or as I travel on business trips until you make a respectable stand on this issue.
Lastly, I personally feel by sponsoring such “entertainment” programs your firm is contributing to America’s moral decay. David Letterman should be fired and you have the power to see that it happens or pull your media buys.
Thank you for your time. Please have a nice day !!
Sincerely,”

Hey Bob! i hope you don’t mind but i stole a few of your paragraphs…i PLAGARIZED!!! :)
June 11, 2009 at 11:33 pm
I understand Olive Garden advertises on David Letterman who is rarely funny. So I guess it is no surprise that to get the ratings up he has to resort to sexual discussions about kids. But only the Conservative kids. I do not remember him making remarks about someone raping Chelsea Clinton. The only difference is liberal vs Conservative.
That will be the last time I watch Mr. Letterman. I am letting the sponsors know that I want Letterman fired and his joke writers as well.
It is a sad day when you start attacking the kids of politicians. They should be off limits.

Great job on the web site. I have already call Olive Garden Guess Relations at (407) 245-4000. The more call the better chance we get the sick pervert Letterman off the air. Call!!!
June 12, 2009 at 2:06 pm
I think that Letterman’s comments were appalling regardless of which Palin girl he was actually referring to. The fact that he claims to have been referring to an 18 year old doesn’t somehow make his comment acceptable. Also, I wish that there were more outrage directed to his “slutty flight attendant” comment since that’s such a clear example of the classism which characterizes so much of the entertainment industry.
June 12, 2009 at 3:40 pm
It seems ironic to me for a man that fathered a bastard himself to judge another for bearing a child out of wedlock.
June 12, 2009 at 4:21 pm
ok – people.
I just tried calling 407 245 4000 but got the voice mail system – at first i was disappointed but then after snooping around their system, i found a way to actually name dial extensions… and after i entered 6847 (OTIS) i actually got Clarence Otis’s voice mail….
to do the same, simply dial the above number, enter *8 when asked to enter an extension… then dial 1234# (which should not work) – once the 1234# extension fails, the voice will ask if you want to name dial… use your keypad to enter their names and then you will be prompted for the correct person…the rest is pretty easy. i imagine we can fill up his voice mail in 30 minutes… and if not, then he will have tons’ of voice mails to listen to. be polite and let him know you like the olive garden but hate having to boycott it
money walks – losing money makes one run!

Since your company, which caters to families. supports a show wherein jokes are made about raping 14-year-olds, I will be sure that I speak to friends about not supporting your restaurants. Appalling what people will put up with for a buck.
June 12, 2009 at 7:15 pm
I have loved eating at the Olive Garden with friends and family. However, with your sponsorship of “the Letterman Show”, I will no longer support you. Fortuneately, there are other eateries that do not advocate the disparaging treatment of young women. Neil Little

Letterman has definately overstepped his bounds and if Leslie Moonves was the leader he should be he would fire him immediately. Guess the almighty dollar is Moonves’ god. It is really sad that he does not have the guts or integrity that a boss should possess. Until Letterman is gone, I will not be eating in any Darden Restaurants.

I have often eaten, with my wife or family, at the Olive Garden restaurant in Clackamas, OR. I will no longer eat or support your restaurant as long as you advertise on David Letterman and support raping of 14 year old girls. I would hope you will respond with a corporate appologize, since David Letterman won’t respond and CBS likewise is silent.
There are so many other restaurants in Clackamas, that we will have little trouble finding an alternative.
June 13, 2009 at 12:10 am
I don’t watch david letterman or cbs for that matter but what he said was externally vile, but one thing I know for sure a big shot like letterman would never walk into a olive garden or stay at a best western so just don’t patronage these business, i would also like to know if that corporation of his mens pants inc. is just a way for him to dodge paying taxes.
June 13, 2009 at 8:19 am
The Olive Garden is my wifes favorite restuaraunt. Too bad, we will not be visiting this establishment as long as you continue to support the Letterman show. He is an idiot and anyone who sponsors his show does not need my support.
June 13, 2009 at 12:46 pm
I love the Olive Garden and my family frequently eats there. No longer.
Letterman went over the line with his cavalier “jest” and compounds the matter with his arrogant attitude and response.
As long as the Olive Garden is an advertiser, for the Letterman show, I will no longer spend my money there.
June 13, 2009 at 10:09 pm
You are a family restaurant. I expect you to sponsor entertainers who respect your clientele and your employees’ families which, in my eyes, no longer includes David Letterman.

I am the father of a 14 year old girl and Lettermans vile, disgusting comments (no, not jokes) infuriated me, I have already contacted Mars Candy Co., Embassy Suites, Charmin, Hellmans and Rogaine and explained I could not possibly in good conscious spend my money on their products while they sponsor a pedophile.
June 14, 2009 at 11:30 am
letterman’s remarks were beyond crude, and condone the sexual abuse of minors. i will be boycotting olive garden until they do the right thing, pull their advertising from cbs. i have called c. otis and left a message. thanks for the phone number info.

I will no longer patronize, buy gift cards, or support your company as long as you sponsor Letterman. He is a pig and a harasser. He insults and demeans all women and so do you.
June 16, 2009 at 1:10 am
I agree with you. It’s time for letterman to go. He’s been on the show too long and he thinks he’s above the law. He’s become more political than a comedian.
Shame on him for saying those things about Sarah and her family.
I will boycott the olive Garden until letterman if fired.

DAVID LETTERMAN IS “SICK” – NOT FUNNY TO THINK THAT IT WOULD BE OK TO MAKE A JOKE ABOUT AN 18 YEAR OLD GIRL!! HE ADMITTED TO SAYING ” before the show, I checked to make sure, in fact, that she is of legal age, 18″ HOW OUTRAGEOUS!!
June 16, 2009 at 8:17 am

The Tonight Show needs a tastefully funny comedian who also quits pushing his/her liberal views on the audience. I also agree that he’s a liar. If he represents the liberal political view, then liberals also ought to stand up against him. I will boycott all sponsors and guests of this tasteless program.

Letterman has turned into a political activist during the Bush Administration. He used to be funny. CBS is now off limits at our home. Letterman’s writers are lame and lack creativity. Leno had some creative writers and didn’t have to rely on cutting and stupid jokes. Obama provides as much grist for humor as Bush and Chenny. But Letterman still bores us with Bush Administration jokes. Let’s here more about Obama and Biden’s gaffs…lots of grist folks.
June 16, 2009 at 12:29 pm
The man should be ashmed of himself. America should also be ashamed for continuing to watch him. Why does everyone think vulgarity and comments made in poor taste are funny. Grow up all of you and quit supporting this trash.
June 16, 2009 at 2:25 pm
I have always loved the Olive Garden but will not enter your doors again unless something is done to make amends to the Palins and Lettermans is off the air.
June 16, 2009 at 5:53 pm
CBS should give this pathetic pedo-perv same treatment NBC gave this other creep, Don IMUS for his vile racist comments about the AA Rutgers girls. Obama sent a letter to NBC urging them to fire Imus as he “would fire him if he worked for me, so my young daughters can be free from such abuse…”
The problem is we don’t have anti-woman-Hatred legislation to protect girls from such vicious assaults.
Lettercrapman was openly advocating, indeed inciting, sexual assault on a girl (regardless of age) who was attending a ballgame with her mother whom he called a ‘slut’. Wonder how Obama would like it if they had been Michelle and Sasha there!
SHAME ON CBS! Let’s do our best to tell the advertisers what we think. Kellogs and Oliver Garden are on my “don’t buy” list. Hillary was viciously attacked by the misogynist media fratboys. It started then and the epiphany set in for all complacement women to see. Even Palin now has evolved her feminist consciousness. How could she not? She is a mother and has to protect her young. I loved the statement she put out about accepting Lettercrap’s apology and hoping that he will evolve from advocating sexual exploitation of young girls. Priceless.
We are mad as hell and we are not going to take it any more.
June 16, 2009 at 5:54 pm
What Letterman was advocating and inciting was sexual assault on girls during a ballgame. He had the criminal intent camouflaged in a ‘joke’. This should suffice to JAIL THE PERV.

Where has the real Dave Letterman gone? I don’t know how he has descended to this point, but his vulgar language and insensitive attempt at humor have tagged him as all others have been tagged; a loser on his way out. When he began, his intellect, flowing just beneath the surface of carefully delivered humor, was manifest in the professional way he conducted his show. It seems to have left him altogether. Too bad. It came as a shock that he would attack a child to thrust a political agenda down the throats of his audience; to say nothing of the insult to a successful state governor.
June 18, 2009 at 3:03 pm
Very gratified to see response from public re: Letterman. NOW has failed miserably often and since we cannot rely on them, it is up to us to voice our objections LOUD and CLEAR. Thanks for all the address, etc. I will follow thru.

I am glad Olive Garden made the right decision. I enjoy going to Olive Garden it has atmospher and great food and more integrity than I thought for dropping letterman. We will help with the advertising by going more often and telling more people.
Thank you for your time, Mario

The Olive Garden is going to get a letter from me. They need to clarify their position.
