The workers at Caterpillar (who make constructon and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines, and butterfles) were told by Obama to convince Rep. Aaron Schock to vote for the Trillion Dollar Jockstrap of Spending (that no one in Congress has actually read).
Instead, Caterpillar workers lit up Shock’s phones telling him what sensible people on both sides of the aisle have been saying about this lunacy all along: this is a TRILLION DOLLAR waste of money that will not stimulate the economy, and instead will quite possibly make matters worse, as the market and public worry about the staggering debt Obama is driving us into.

Just had a chance to listen to what IL Rep. Aaron Schock-R had to say about this stimulus and it was great. After Obama told the employees to approach the Rep. Schock to vote for the bill, Schock hung around afterwards and NOT ONE employee asked him to vote for it. Instead, over 1000 employees of Catepillar called or emailed Schock to tell him to vote “No”. Wow.

I too am sad that this bill is unfortunately going to pass. Just heard on the “news” how great this is going to be and that they are now including loans for motor homes and motorcycles which should “stimulate” the motor vehicle industry even more. On a brighter note, I was surprised that they broadcast one of the republican’s stating that not one of them has read the over 1,400 pages of this bill. That is somewhat encouraging to use come 2010.

Rachel Corrie’s aunt lives in my town. She, too, is off the planet. Gave a big interview with our local paper after this first happened. Lot of the family actually staged sit-ins at the Caterpillar headquarters. They really do partially hold Caterpillar accountable for Rachel’s death. ???

HB – when I first saw this story last night, I was already in a foul mood. When I saw the headlines earlier in the day that a CEO had said that he would reverse the lay-offs if the “stimulus” bill would be passed, I thought, it must be a CEO of some small company. I later learned that it was Catepillar. Then the best was the CEO there had to contradict The Obama! This proves to me that Obama knows only marxist economic theory. In that theory, the only thing that counts is that you put people to work because there’s supposely money going in. But, in capitalism, what matters is that there is a drive for productivity – namely, you have to have someone to buy the stuff you’re making. CAT’s CEO is correct – this company is only part of the value chain. This proves, again, how totally incompetent Obama is. As incompetent he is, that is how much more he will destroy this nation. This will happen in less than four years time.

Does anyone not find it a bit cheap and low-down that Obama would target this congressman by making him stand up while he applied his pressure for him to vote for the bill? Was this meant to embarrass him into a favorable vote? Obviously this young man has integrity and conscience, two things Obama doesn’t know about. How immature and naive Obama is to think that his exalted presence is enough to sway anyone who is able to think independently.
I suspect his ego is taking quite a beating these days, what with the press and media finally beginning to question him and yes, even ridicule his actions…finally. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving person, but unfortunately, we’re stuck with this unprepared, under-equipped person and have to watch him damage this country immeasureably.

My question is since our law makers do not listen to us what are we to do.
Please don’t forget that Rush, Hannity etc. did little to help elect McCain. They made it clear they did not like or agree with him, they have large audiences , they knew they could influence their listeners and point out the dire neccessity of voting against Obama is not for McCain. Yes , they said it but very weakly, After all being the underdog in politics can be more exciting and challenging for the radio hosts. I know I;ve heard them say that more than once.
But we people in the middle , without representation have no voice or guidence.
I’ve been writing to my Reps and Senators for years to no avail. They have their own agenda.

ILBlue, I disagree with that. Rush, Hannity have their opinion but it is not their responsibility to get people to get off their asses. Most of us are capable of independant thought. I’m sorry but pointing blame at them, even just a little, strikes me as avoiding personal accountablity, whoever may do it. I mean this in the generic term, not you in particular.It is each person own responsibility to find out as much or little there is to know and then make an informed descision.
The fact is, if most voters actually got off their asses and went looking for information before casting their vote last Novemeber, alot of these clowns would not be in office now! Yeah, the MSM is bias, sweeps things under the rug and flat out ignores anything damaging. But look at all the people that went looking for info. and not look to the in the tank MSM. It is not difficult to find. You made a point to keep yourself informed as did I, everyone on this site and many many other sites long before the election took place.
People are either too lazy or couldn’t be bothered to make themselves informed. So we have a big population that votes without knowing stuff or really caring. They get what they deserve. Unfortunatly so do those of us that made sure we were informed. The only thing that will change that, is more people getting fed up and getting off their lazy asses and doing a little work before casting a vote.
Perhaps enough of them are now fed up with all the corruption and really scared with the economy on the verge of collapse, crippling debt for generations to come and terrorists being given wide open doors to come bomb us by Zero

Here are a few things that we can all do:
1-Spread the word and get more people to know what we already know, tell two friends and so on…..
2- Write to the media and SHAME them into being less partisan & more ethical….being unethical (less religious or less human) is what has gotten us into this mess we lack morality & honesty (Madoff, ACORN, Corporations, Mortgage Lenders, Borrowers, Credit Card Co APR rip-offs, etc.).
3- Lets assemble Grand Juries to Investigate these issues. If the Politicians and Courts won’t do it we will start a People’s Court: Grand Juries.
4- Lets assemble TWO 9/11 type Commissions, this can be done RIGHT NOW…should’ve been done long ago. One will look into the Election and see if there was Fraud. Look into “obama” and see if he ever showed uncontested proof of who he is and if he is qualified. Come back with recommendations to make sure this NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN. When we elect a President there should be no DOUBTS that he meets the 3 minimal requirements that anyone qualified can easily prove.
The other Commission will look into our financial crisis and see what has been done and what worked and didn’t work and make recommendations on the best way to go forward. Will also get to the bottom of how this crisis came about and who is most responsible.
We, like minded people can start and sit these Commissions just look for people that would be good and assemble these Commissions. If we get co-opreation from the opposition fine we welcome it but if we don;t lets go ahead with our work. ACORN and such organization don’t worry about getting Conservatives with them. They just go ahead with their agenda. So shall we.
For funding maybe we can do a book deal with a publisher that will sell the book of the Commissiosn finding seeing that Congress won’t alocate any money for this.
We can even get news outlets to pitch in, like Newsmax, WND, etc.
5- We need a CONSERVATIVE news media outlet more reliable than Fox News, they have joined the unethical media as well. We need to get all these conservative like minded mediums and come up with a new Conservative all the time News Channel that we all can join and suppport. It can be online to be cheaper. Maybe Rush, Hannity, Savage, Newsmax, WND, etc can all participate and have their own segments. It will keep us informed. No liberals point of views those are EVERYWHERE. This will be our own Conservative Fairness Doctrine. It can be subscriber base just to keep Liberals from listening for free. Maybe $10/yr or something like that.
6- This one is more to Survival and getting your head above water, EVENTUALLY.
Don’t be a sucker, make sure you are getting your fair share of the Bailouts.
If you are carrying debt it is a good time to analyse your situation and decide if it is smart to fall behind and get help, a BAILOUT.
If you owe credit card balances, loans, mortgages, etc. it may be smart to CASH IN. Everyone else did so why not you.
I suggest using credit cards for everything you can and SAVE YOUR CASH, you will need it later. Even use the checks Credit Companies send you to get cash or pay important debt.
Eventually you will stop paying all these cards. NO NEED TO FILE Bankruptcy, just stop paying and tell them you have no money to pay them and need an “obama” BAILOUT. These Credit Companies & Banks are Unethical Crooks (Loan Sharks or Bloodsuckers is more like it) and could care less about the customer. They deserve some of their own medicine. Bailing Out on these comapnies will do two things it will help you in the long run and make sure all the Pork Bailouts FAIL. Don’t worry about your credit after this flushes out you will be in the same situation as most people and can easily build your credit in 1-2 yrs.
You may want to choose 1-3 cards that you like and have a good working relationship with to keep. I would suggest Capitol One they have been pretty above board for the most part and probably didn’t need any bailout money. CHASE is one of the worst…they indiscriminately Raised Customer APR’s and Worse lowered customers credit limits to make them look maxed out which ruined FICO scores. This started a domino effect, when other creditors looked at FICO scores and saw them declining they in turn quickly raised APR’s and lowered Credit Limit. This all happened without customers EVER being LATE. Totally unwarranted, uncalled for, irresponsible and punishing their customer.
Don’t be foolish, less scrupulous and undeserving people are getting Bailouts why not you. Remember if you keep paying no one will help you. The trick is to stop paying, stop being responsible and Bailouts will come your way. This is encouraged by our new “president”. Only people that fall behind (irresponsible) will be helped lets help the “”president” and make sure he has plenty of people to help.
It’s time to give Ourselves a Bailout.

I’m saying that ideally, the federal government should begin dismantling itself. Ten percent spending cuts across the board tomorrow, except national defense. Ten percent reduction in manpower within two years, and another ten percent reduction every two years for the next decade. Whole departments can be eliminated entirely.
Oh, here’s another good idea. No congressman, senator, or president should be allowed to count towards retirement any year in which the budget is not balanced.
Also, if national health care is implemented, ALL federal employees including the congress should be under it–no exceptions.

That would bring the number of employees back to where it was during or before the Clinton administration.
No president since FDR has presided over as rapid a growth in government when measured as a percentage of the total economy as has happened by the Bush administration.
Now the conservatives are for bringing the banks on board. No way will I ever agree to that.
