h/t Michelle Obama Watch for the graphic above, and the quoted brief history of Michelle Obama’s magical raise — right when her husband was elected to the Senate…and just before Obama used his position as Senator to secure massive earmarks for Michelle’s employer, The University of Chicago Hospital.
Since Michelle took a leave of absence from her job at the hospital to campaign for her husband full time last year, University of Chicago never filled her position or assigned her duties to others (said duties comprised of diverting poor black patients away from University of Chicago Hospital to lower-quality medical facilities so U Chicago would not be stuck with as many expensive indigent care cases. The Hospital wanted only patients with solid insurance coverage, so Michelle’s “community outreach” was focused on dissuading everyone out there without insurance cards from ending up on U Chicago Hospital’s rolls). We hear they have no intention of hiring another “VP of Community and External Affairs” now that Michelle is gone for good, a position that was created solely for Michelle, coinciding perfectly with the moment in time the hospital wanted to triple her salary, out of the blue, coincidentally a few months after her husband was elected to the Senate.
Imagine the luck!
Everyone keeps talking about what color they think Michelle will wear to the Inaugural Balls on Tuesday.
Will she wear Nancy Reagan red?
Will she wear regal purple?
Will she wear the trademarked (and creepy) Hope! Change! New Kind of Politics! Smurf-blood blue?
We think Michelle’s always looked best in ORANGE:
It’s sure going to be an interesting four (or maybe 10-20) years!
Voting public: welcome to Chicago style politics. Don’t saw we didn’t warn you about this bunch — and that we never told you about the $10,000 kickback bribe Obama himself took from Republican Yesse Yehudah and his FORUM grant back in 2000 either! (You know, that thing no reporter wants to mention, but that’s another example of Pay to Play, Obama-style)
Hope! Change! New Kind of Politics!
In 2002, Michelle Obama was hired by the University of Chicago Hospital as its “Executive Director for Community Affairs” at a salary of approximately $120,000.
In January of 2005, Barack Obama was sworn in as a United States Senator.
In March of 2005, Michelle Obama was promoted to “Vice President for Community and External Affairs” and her salary bumped nearly $200,000 (from $121,910 to $316,962). This position was “newly created” for Mrs. Obama.
In February of 2006, Barack Obama requested a $1 million earmark for a new hospital pavilion at the University of Chicago.
Effective 9 January 2009, Michelle Obama resigned her position at UCH.
Effective 14 January 2009, Michelle Obama’s VP position was eliminated, its functions absorbed into another executive’s position. This prompted writer Don Rose to ask “[If] that work can be folded into another guy’s, why was it separate in the first place?“
Excellent question. Some roguish wags might speculate that a quid pro quo arrangement was in effect; pay-to-play as it were. But that seems highly unlikely given Barack Obama’s high ethical standards *.
* Ignoring, of course, Auchi, Ayers, Blagojevich, Jarrett, Jones, Rezko, etc.

Doesn’t it warm your heart to know that we have these wonderful people to look up to? The best is yet to come!!!

Michelle will be wearing Burlap Bag Brown to match the Burnt Sienna Burka she’ll also be wearing.
January 17, 2009 at 7:37 am
I didnt watch Inaugurual Balls when my guys won. I am going to wallow in ignorance as much as I can for the nest four years.
January 17, 2009 at 7:47 am
What, UCH pays 320 to an administrator. Healthcare in this country is out of control, even if this were a legit job. All these pols in Chicago, they just seem to be in it for the money, not even power, fame, glory. Just the money. Practical yes, but so tacky. Evil should come with more style, more vision.

And this is why I throw up a little bit each time when I hear someone praise this chick for “accomplishing so much in her life!” I get sick.
January 17, 2009 at 8:48 am
She’ll wear red and black like she did (and her children as well. Even O got in on the insult to the rest of America by wearing the black and red tie, so as to match) on election night…the colors of Black Liberation!
January 17, 2009 at 9:11 am
I went to that Michelle site and it was talking about how hard it was going to be for Michelle because no First Lady has ever had to battle against the ‘Black woman stereotypes’. Then they proceeded to talk about the type of stereotypes that ALL women have had to deal with since history began. Tell me only powerful AA women have to deal with being called too aggressive and too pushy. Hillary faced no discrimination, but poor Michelle will have to overcome so much. Did I mention that she also has two children? This is going to be a long 4 years. But only 4, God willing.
January 17, 2009 at 9:34 am
Will somebody please explain to her royal highness Michelle the shame Americans who are capable of clear and accurate reasoning feel now that the George Soros financed lame stream propaganda driven media has given their blessing to partake in this affirmative action Kool-Aid experiment making this once great nation the joke of the world just so she could not be ashamed to be an American.
January 17, 2009 at 10:57 am
Worse than that they had a story that she is going to be good for the fashion industry. Gag me!
Look – we need a list of the other pay-to-play things, drawn up just like this, and in order… it seems to me that you and others have reported on the slum guys, when they gave their donations to Barack, and when they got the big kickbacks in the form of state monies, and federal monies, there’s also the BO botanical garden…
They seem to be many, and the dollar amounts are significant, the pattern is very clear… put side by side or in chronological order, it COULD be very convincing.
Who has that info? Does anyone already have it all lined out?
January 17, 2009 at 11:41 am
Please not orange. That’s what Hillary wore at the DNC: “when you hear the dogs…!”
PUMA orange, no less!
January 17, 2009 at 12:00 pm
Only three days before Obama and his merry band of crooks and liars and thugs take over the country.
January 17, 2009 at 12:01 pm
I think that orange jumpsuit is a perfect fit for her!
January 17, 2009 at 12:09 pm
Hope! Change! Lemonade and pixie dust!
… if you’re not from Chicago, for them it’s business as usual. I wonder what Mrs. Obama’s pet project will be. Child Literacy? Homelessness? Financial aid for university hospitals having to shoulder the burden of poor people?
January 17, 2009 at 12:33 pm
Dear Honora,
You had better hope the left isn’t successful in repealing the 22nd amendment, which they have already started to explore.
That amendment limits the president to two 4 year terms.
The problem with convincing the brain washed is, the articles and/or commentary must be from msm papers or magazines. Lest you hear “they have never supported BO to begin with”. It has to be from a news organization that was completely sold out from the beginning.
Even then, it is going to take a long period of time and several articles to even place a seed of doubt.
Believe me, I speak from experience as my husband and his family are almost giddy about BO. These are well educated, normally fair-minded people. I have come to believe most of this euphoria is fueled by the intense hatred they felt for W. And they are totally buying into the global warming scam. They drive hybrids……..need I say more???
January 17, 2009 at 1:23 pm
Hillbuzz ain’t joking about 10 maybe 20 years of Meechelle and her couch/dress color coordinated ensembles. The House is considering a bill which would ELIMINATE/REPEAL the 22nd Amendment – you know, the one which gives term limits to the President!Obamamessiah for life!Even the Republicans didn’t try that!
January 17, 2009 at 2:20 pm
OMG, Hillbuzz–you guys are good. I mean very VERY good. I am gobsmacked by your brilliance. You’ve had others stories that hit the bullseye but this one gets the Pulitzer. Please keep on it.
This woman is a travesty of justice, morality, and taste, and the outrageous irony is that she is being marketed to us as a ‘role model’–one who should be PAID for her ’sacrifice’ to us, no less (a 180 degree about face from all other first ladies throughout history who have spoken of the role as a great honor).
Clinton and Palin are strong and have spoken well for themselves throughout this whole wretched O-rdeal. By taking on this story, Hillbuzz, you are speaking for all us feminists-in-the-crowd who are crying “NO!” to having this horrible woman shoved in our faces as an example of what we should aspire to. Nothing would please me more than to see this heinous paragon of hypocrisy that is Michelle Obama taken down.

Facts, please…if you google about repealing the 22nd amendment, the Republicans also submitted a bill.
January 17, 2009 at 3:18 pm
Guys, quit the freaking worrying about a repeal of the 22nd. IF it should happen, it CANNOT apply to Obama. Yes, the 22nd had a clause which specifically applied to the seating President (Truman) which exempted him from the limit being proposed, BUT the key thing is that it was a NEW limit to the office of President.
Just like any legislation, if the effect will be restrictive or has the power to rescind an existing right, the person or persons currently enjoying that right cannot be affected. However, the legislation–without including a specific clause indicating that it takes immediate effect (which few amendments do)–cannot be applied to the person or persons currently enjoying that right or privilege.
Look at the 27th Amendment–the one governing Congressional pay. Because of it, when the House and/or Senate vote to raise their salaries, the House members who vote to raise will only benefit IF they manage to win the NEXT election.
Another pair of cases–the 18th and 21st Amendments (Prohibition and the Repeal thereof). The 18th Amendment did not take effect upon ratification. It was ratified in January of 1919 (actually 1/16), but the manufacturer, transport and sale were not finally stopped until January 1920, and it was only then that making, shipping and selling booze could lead to an arrest. The 21st Amendment, however, took immediate effect (well, as “immediate” as was possible; since it had been illegal to make or ship booze for more than a decade, the only people with liquor on hand were private citizens with VERY well-stocked private supplies, as Prohibition didn’t actually extend to DRINKING, and most of these people weren’t willing to part with their own supplies), and as of 12/6/33, bars and saloons near the Canadian and Mexican borders were selling booze that they had “imported” from cross-border suppliers.
With the 22nd Amendment, bear in mind also that the Amendment passed a Republican-majority Congress on March 21, 1947 and was ratified by 18 states within the first 2 months. In the whole of 1948, only 3 states ratified the Amendment, and in the whole two-year period running from 1/1/1949 to 12/31/1950, only 3 more states ratified. It was only in 1951 that the Amendment was finally added after a flurry of states ratified the Amendment in the first two months; in just 34 days (1/25 to 2/27), 12 more states ratified, formally placing the Amendment in the Constitution (and 5 more states would formally ratify the Amendment within the next 10 weeks).
The Republicans had not specifically exempted Truman (the Amendment clearly states that the CURRENT officeholder would be exempt–had Truman lost to Dewey in 1948, the terms of the ratified Amendment would have then applied to Dewey who could have then remained in office as long as he wanted).
As to the contention by some on this board, there HAVE actually been a number of attempts in the past to repeal the 22nd–even by GOPers. The GOP actually proposed rescinding the Amendment back in the 1980s in the hopes of keeping “King Ronnie” in power indefinitely. Of course, their proposal was certain to die before reaching a vote since the GOP didn’t have a majority in either House during Reagan’s last two years in office. During Clinton’s term, a number of Democrats proposed repealing the 22nd also, in the hopes of keeping the still-popular President in office longer, but again had little chance with a GOP-controlled Congress. During Dubya’s terms, however, with a GOP-majority Congress, there WERE quiet efforts to repeal the 22nd, right up until the 2006 elections, when the GOP lost control of both Houses. (Of course, a number of the efforts were pushed by the notion that we shouldn’t change leadership in the midst of a war, which was part of FDR’s rationale for running for a 4th term, but few people bought into that argument since this current “war” is far more nebulous and we don’t have an actual enemy to fight. The Iraq War, by rights, should have ended as soon as the first post-Saddam Parliament took over since WE weren’t at war with that government. Technically, there was no formal declaration of war made either, so we weren’t actually AT war with anyone but why let that stop the Bushies?)

I was at the px here on Fort Hood just a few days ago. I saw tons of books on the Obamas, then shirts that read: Obama Yes We Did and then walked in the book section and only one Ann Coulter’s Guilty. Looks like Ann Coulter is selling and Obama isn’t.
That’s a very good thing.

Her “promotion” was really nothing more than the Chicago Way, quid pro quo as they say.
You have to understand the Chicago Democratic Political Machine which; is in reality a mis-nomer as there are Republican politicians included in its pay to play schemes as well.
In any case it will be interesting how this all plays out now with The Daley Machine running the country!
