Delmarie Cobb is one of the best political consultants in Chicago (made internationally famous during the Democrats’ Convention in Denver when Obama supporter Emil Jones, his most likely replacement in the Senate, called Cobb “Uncle Tom” for backing Hillary Clinton).

Here’s her take on Clinton as Secretary of State, in an NPR interview:

A longtime Hillary Clinton supporter from Chicago says she’s disappointed Clinton may leave the U.S. Senate. A source close to Barack Obama’s transition team has told NPR that Clinton has agreed to be nominated for Secretary of State. Delmarie Cobb is a Chicago-based political consultant.

COBB: Personally, I would have preferred for her to stay in the Senate as an independent voice. There are issues, women’s issues, health care issues, energy renewable issues, that she talked about all along the campaign trail, that she could have been a stalwart for in the Senate.

But Cobb says Clinton will make a great Secretary of State. Cobb says Clinton’s relationships with foreign leaders make her primed for the cabinet position. In the past, Cobb accused Democratic Party officials of favortism toward Barack Obama during the presidential primaries. She said the party disrespected Clinton and took women voters for granted.
