We’re Democrats who admit to spending many years in the past attacking the Bush Administration, even going so far as refusing to call Bush the president, instead referring to him as “Dracula”. But, we have to say this, George W. Bush and his Administration have prevented multiple catastrophic attacks from happening in this country since 9/11.
Kudos, Mr. President, and thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You are a good man, and while we do not agree with you on everything (or even most things), you have indeed kept us safe and we look forward to one day thanking you in person and shaking your hand because in this respect, you have been a fine president.
Our most sincere and strongest hope is that Democrats do not repeat the mistakes Republicans made in 2001, in the transition from Clinton to Bush, and ignore intelligence that could stop catastrophic terrorist attacks in 2009. We do believe, still, that Condoleezza Rice and Colin Powell ignored Clinton Administration warnings about Al-Queda activity and plots to use passenger aircraft as weapons because Rice, in particular, was focused on a Russia-based US foreign policy (that ignored Al-Queda and Islamic fundamentalists as a miniscule threat in favor of ramping up antagonism against Putin in Russia to start a neo-Cold War) and Powell was, in as kind of terms as we can phrase this, completey out to lunch.
Bush’s Administration came to Washington with dragon-slaying hubris after besting Gore in extra-innings contention ratcheted up to the Supreme Court. Bush was the guy at the bar who, after winning a fight in the alley after hours, needed to piss all over his opponent and emasculate him. And that’s what incoming Texans did to the outgoing Democrats, dismissing all warnings and cautions as the extraneous mumblings of the defeated foes.
We hope and pray Obama’s Administration doesn’t repeat this mistake (though Obama’s personality leads us to believe that’s a false hope if ever there was one); if Clinton, Gates, and Jones really make up Obama’s Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, and National Security Adviser team, then we have greater confidence this sort of hubris won’t inhibit prescient national intelligence operations in the transition. Clinton alone, should she really sign onto the team, will nip this nonsense in the bud.
There is a reason we are so loyal to this woman, and if you haven’t figured it out yet, it’s because she’s as proud an American as ever we’ve met; Hillary Clinton would land on a grenade to save this country the smallest bit of harm, and that’s why we’d do just the same for her if ever she needed it. If she could ever stop an attack on this country, Clinton would do everything she could to save lives and prevent just that.
The Bush Administration stopped another attack today, this time on Penn Station in New York. We do not, as a people in this country, recognize the attacks stopped, nor give credit to the administration that stops them. Just as Clinton wasn’t credited for preventing the 1999-2000 New Year’s Eve assault on LAX or the bombings of dams in California (to taint Los Angeles’ drinking supply): and those are only the attacks we know about. Who knows how many attacks the Bush Administration stopped.
And we are Democrats saying this — so to all Republicans who still stop by HillBuzz from time to time, we hope you know this election truly changed us.
We are no longer blind partisans around here.
When anyone in government is right, we will salute them. When they are wrong, we will chastise them, regardless of party.
We are inspired and motivated by Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton and would follow her to the very gates of Hell and back, but if she was ever dead wrong about something, we would call her out on it.
We are no fans of George W. Bush, but when he does a good job and protects this nation from harm and fulfills the duties of president to an exceptional degree, we will stand up for him and shout in our loudest voice for recognition for his job well done.
So, thank you Mr. President, for once again keeping us safe. You made mistakes as president, but stopping terrorists from blowing up Penn Station was surely not one of them, and we’re thus thankful to have you in office the eve of this blessed holiday.
You have been an imperfect president, George W. Bush, but you’ve kept us all safe, so on this Thanksgiving we are truly thankful for your leadership in difficult times.
May history be kind to you, as you’ve been kind to the people you’ve served these last 8 years.

Thank you, Dems who understand. If there were more than 6 of you, I’d be even more grateful.
November 26, 2008 at 9:46 pm
There are way more than 6 of us. Take heart!
Happy Thanksgiving to all (regardless of party)!

It has now been 2,631 days since our country was attacked by terrorists. I know many hate President Bush, and I do agree that there are things he has done that I don’t like. That being said, this nation owes this man a huge debt of gratitude for keeping us safe from those who wish to destroy us. I never worried when President Bush was in office, but I fear that those comforting days are about to end. Thank you for recognizing our current president’s contributions, and I sincerely hope we are wrong about the incoming man-child.
I thoroughly enjoy reading your commentary. Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

In a few short days this country is going to elect a new president of the United States, and quite frankly I am terrified. I am one of those baby boomers that grew up being taught, both at home and at school, that this was the greatest country in the world. I grew up knowing that our forefathers had shaped two of the most enviable documents in the world — the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. I grew up believing that if I worked hard enough, that I would have the opportunity to do and be anything I wanted.
And now we learn that Barak Obama thinks these revered documents are flawed. According to recently “discovered” tapes made by Obama, the senator feels that the Constitution is a poorly written document that does not give the federal government enough power to change the lives of its citizens! He also feels that the Supreme Court has not only done a poor job of redistributing wealth, but that they have not advocated enough on behalf of its citizens. Call me silly, but I thought the court’s job was to interpret the law, not make it.
So let me see, thanks to these very same “flawed” documents, Barack Hussein Obama, has enjoyed the opportunity to run for the highest office in the land, despite being the most inexperienced candidate ever to run for office. His background is murky, and yet he, having the good fortune to study constitutional law at one of the country’s most elite institutions, has decided that the constitution — OUR constitution — is flawed!
What I find truly amazing is that our supposed unbiased media, is mum. After all, isn’t the media the first one to assert the constitution’s first amendment rights whenever they want to tear into someone’s life, business or go after a government entity that they don’t agree with. Aren’t they even a little concerned about these new revelations and how Obama’s views might affect their future ability to do their jobs? Unfortunately, those of us who actually love our country’s history and try to follow what passes for news these days, have discovered that the media does not care. Why would they? They have been both cheerleader and active campaigner for this candidate. They are not about to ask questions that might make their candidate look bad. If any of you have any doubts about what this man’s agenda is going to be over the next four years, then you are naïve at best, or just plain stupid.
If the media and Obama followers think that this man has the country’s best interests at heart, all you have to do is look at his campaign. There is an old saying – just follow the money. Obama has raised more than a half a BILLION dollars to fund one of the sleeziest campaigns in political history. He has aligned himself with the community organization known as ACORN that is currently either being investigated, or has already been indicted for voter fraud in more than 15 states. We are also hearing that as much as $60 million dollars of his campaign money has come from suspicious sources, including foreign entities. He has enjoyed close relationships with very extreme radicals such as Jeremiah Wright, Father Flagler, Bill Ayers and Saul Alinsky. All of these issues would be “red meat” to the media if Obama was a Republican, yet they are barely mentioned by his media chums.
I would like to remind those in the press that you should be careful what you wish for. You will be one of the first to cry foul when you finally see that you are nothing more than a public relations hack for this man. You see, I think that you too will discover, like citizen Joe the Plummer discovered after asking Obama a simple, yet apparently embarrassing question, that if you happen to question or disagree with anything that the chosen One says or does, you too will be vilified.
And guess what, by then you probably won’t recognize that “weak” little constitution that so fervently protects your right of free speech. Don’t come crying to me. You will have no one to blame but yourselves!

I TOTALLY AGREE HillBuzz!
After what we have been through; I do feel FREE of the partisanship.
“It’s funny you should mention the Republicans that read your site/that’s how I found you”.
I was doing my “quick Rush check” on the radio & he was quoting a piece from your site. He acted as if he did not believe what he was reading. All he had to do was ask Hannity about PUMA’s & he would have known we were/are for REAL. See in LI/NY a co-PUMA & I went to a local book signing that we knew Hannity would be at & gave him a PUMA tee shirt & bracelet. It was fun!
**WOW, “Gator Gal”! You really said it BEST!
Happy Thanksgiving to All.

“We are no longer blind partisans around here”
Neither are we. My party (the GOP) is a little under the weather right now. Everyone is busy smacking each other around. So all we (as individuals) can do is pay attention to each issue, each politician. When we agree lets stand together. When we disagree, we will be civil. We should stand on key principles like liberty and rights. Stand up for this country, nobody is immune from those that wish to destroy us. Bless you all and Happy Thanksgiving!

Excuse me, but I thought that the CIA and FBI and other related departments are the ones keeping us safe.
Would ANY president have NOT increased their budgets after 9/11?
Do we have ANY evidence at all that some of the things Bush pushed for, like the Patriot Act, have done anything to stop any terrorist attack?
November 27, 2008 at 6:54 am
Do we have ANY evidence that sitting down with terrorist countries and just talking will help conditions? I was never a bush fan..but I feel we will not find the messiah any better. Think about it..would you sit and listen to rev. wright for 20 years if you did not agree with him? Would farrakhan praise someone that did not agree with him? Right on down the line to ayers who stayed quiet until after the election. Quadaffi..who was excited about his muslim friend. We may look back on the bush years and see that things could have been worse.
bush wouldn’t produce his military records..we know basically nothing about obama..is that okay?

Giving credit where credit is due – sane and sensible – that’s one thing Bush can and should be given credit for – Hillary Clinton is a patriot – here’s one conservative (and I’ve spoken to others who feel the same way) who is feeling more at ease thinking Hillary Clinton will be in that White House – because I understand how much she loves this country and that she would not hesitate to come to the nations defense – of that I am sure, I am also certain that Al Queada is afraid of her (see Arabic Al-Jezzera – translated they referred to her as “The Iron Lady of the Palace” and to Obama as “our faithful one” http://degreesofmoderation.blogspot.com/2008/04/case-for-re-thinking-candidacy-of.html)- that alone is of import – from the beginning of the 2008 election cycle, I paid attention to the candidates – and my choices were based not on partisanship but on practicality of governing – my criteria being a candidate that loved their country enough to keep us safe, first. Why: because the economy cannot function in chaos – the attacks on 9/11 was a heavy burden on the economy – which was exactly the point – the more I understood Clinton – the better I felt, and I spent time desperately trying to convince people on both sides of the aisle that she was a candidate that made the most sense. (Given I no longer had a “horse in the race” so to speak). In the current selection process of the new administration, I am relieved every time I see Hillary Clinton come a step closer to being part of the administration.

Notice too that in the past 24 hours, with carnage in Bombay and serious threats in NYC, His Majesty-elect has completely dropped off the MSM radar—just like that. Why? Two reasons. One, these things aren’t supposed to happen anymore, remember? All the world loves O. America has redeemed itself. Two, it’s a bit difficult for the man to speak with moral authority about terrorism when the news is filled with bloody images of dismembered bodies. He got his start in politics in the living room of unrepentant terrorist bomber/murderer Billy Ayres, after all. The media knows when it’s time to dial down the hopium dosage—for a day or two.

Happy Thanksgiving to all, from this Republican who visits your site everyday and has the ultimate respect for you… We have more that unites us than divides us.. Through you Hillary has brought more unity to this country.. She has united all of us in ways that she could not have imagined. I truly appreciate all of your writings and opinions, I am appreciative that in a sense I have had the pleasure to “meet” you through this site. I am thankful that there were so many who worked together to put country first and stop the current commander in chief.. Who would have imagined the Republicans would not turn out to vote? We could not stop the candidate from winning, however, we will all work together to stop the agenda…While I am a Republican, I respect Democrats and like you all as well… It is only the liberal leftists that make me nervous and the threat they pose on our country… It is my sincere hope you stick around, I would love to meet in person someday…. take care

Bush is a good man? You’re getting more than a little carried away.
November 27, 2008 at 4:15 pm
happy thanksgiving all…
thank you hillbuzz great article..

Look up Jaime Gorelick. The”Jaime Gorelick Wall” prohibited the FBI and CIA from sharing information. Maybe 9/11 wouldn’t have happened if this sharing of information had been allowed.
November 27, 2008 at 11:40 pm
As a conservative who reads your site regularly, I thank you.
those are very sincere and honest comments. you have moved me to tears.
God bless you.

I am a conservative, who like you, used to be very partisan. The PUMA action, dedication and drive in this last election changed me, too. Now I know that just because someone is a Demacrat, doesn’t mean bash and demean them just for that fact, and no-one better be a hater around me because I’ll tell them what’s up in no uncertain terms! Hillary has changed my mind about her this election cycle too. I have donated to her for closing out her campaign debt(she is the first Demacrat I have ever donated money to, and it felt great). I do think she would fall on a granade for our country too. But I did want you to know, when I gave Thanks this Thanksgiving, you PUMA’s were at the top of my list. I love you guys.
November 28, 2008 at 2:09 pm
As a Christian Conservative Republican, I read your site evey day. I trust what your put in print then all the junk news journalism out there. Keep up the great work, and thank you for giving credit where credit is due.

We will see if Obama can keep this country safe. I do believe that Bush is a good man and has kept this country safe. I fear for our young men and women in the military. They are sitting ducks now! This latest attack in India should make all of us tremble. This strategy could be carried out anywhere. Prayers for all the families who lost loved ones or had their loved ones hurt in this terrible attack. Also, prayers for our military fighting for our freedoms and keeping us safe.
November 28, 2008 at 10:40 pm
Yes, I agree that we have been kept pretty safe by W. I wish I could say I would feel as safe when the O takes office. Ugg!
