Bill Clinton: Obama’s Not Very Smart
—DrewM.
Okay, so that’s not exactly what he said but it’s pretty much the gist of his “praise” ofObama’s handling of the economic crisis.
“You know what he did?” Clinton said, heralding Obama’s reaction to the financial crisis. “First he took a little heat for not saying much. I knew what he was doing. He talked to his advisers – he talked to my economic advisers, he called Hillary. He called me. He called Warren Buffet. He called all those people, you know why? Because he knew it was complicated and before he said anything he wanted to understand.”
So it was too complicated for Obama to understand right away, he had to talk to smart people like Bill and…Hillary to make sense of it. The backhanded compliment is fine and delicate art. Bill Clinton is a master of it.
Have I mentioned the strange new respect I’ve developed for the Clinton’s in the last year?

A little off topic, but:
I went to goptrust.com and donated $$ to them that I would have given to Hillary in the GE – so they can run their new Rev. Wright ad. Dick Morris has been mentioning it on his TV appearances – I think it’s a great idea.

You have to admire Bill’s ability to damn with his praise.

Hey guys… don’t know if you read these comments before you approve them but do you mind attributing the “neighborly blog” to ace of spades. They’re very kind about attributing this stuff to Hillbuzz so I only think we owe them their fair due.
No need to approve this comment; I was just too lazy to find out how to email ya’ll. :)

Sorry but as far as I am concerned I no longer support the Clintons–they now represent the new Democratic Party that I refuse to acknowledge.
October 30, 2008 at 11:21 am
I still support the Clintons and HRC in particular. While I’d love for her to essentally denounce the O, I know it cannot happen and they must at least give lip service to the ticket in order to prevail in 2012.
God Bless them both for their damning and faint praise of Obama

October 30, 2008 at 11:37 am
Was in line at the bank and they had the TV set to a live feed of Obama speaking today – he was making the point that his economic policies are Clinton’s, and saying McCain’s were Bush’s. Very clearly riding on the Clinton coat-tails and association. Took all my willpower not to be sarky out loud at the TV. Someone will probably have it on YouTube, I’m sure PUMAs can make hay out of it. He’s so transparent.

But why,… oh why,… won’t they release that weird secret?!!
October 30, 2008 at 11:52 am
CBJ: So Obama thinks that by saying “his economic policies are Clinton’s” – i.e., the hypertaxation policies that stalled recovery from the recession until the capital gains reduction was passed – he thinks that’s going to make people support him??
I mean, is he really saying, “look, Bill Clinton raised taxes to record levels and prosperity followed!”?? Actually, maybe this is a good strategy. The electorate’s collective memory only goes back 18 months most election cycles. They might be fooled by this.

Edwin Vieira asks “Why doesn’t Obama prove, with conclusive documentary evidence, that he is ‘a natural born Citizen’ of the United States who has not renounced his American citizenship?” Because of his failure, America is potentially facing the gravest constitutional crisis in her history. “The potential for chaos, both domestically and internationally, arising out of this systemic uncertainly is breathtaking.” http://www.newswithviews.com/Vieira/edwin84.htm It is crucial that people not vote for Obama until he produces proof that he is eligible to be president. Dr. Vieira says “If Obama turns out to be nothing more than an usurper who has fradulently seized control of the Presidentcy, not only will the Constitution have been egregiously flouted, but also this whole country could be, likely will be, destroyed as a consequence.”

As a conservative Repub, I’ve suffered through watching Bill run circles around my guys like a man playing dodgeball with first graders… So, you can imagine that I truly enjoy watching him work that magic against The One… What I’d like to know is whether or not Obama and his minions even caught what a massive slam it was… He seems to think he’s the smart one, after all (recall flipping the bird in the debate)…

At Daily Kos Hate Website Obama Wrote About Banishing Moderates From Democratic Party
At the Far Left anti-Semitic Daily Kos website, Barack Obama wrote about driving moderates out of the Democratic Party.
Via Sweetness and Light:
I thought this might be a good opportunity to offer some thoughts about not only judicial confirmations, but how to bring about meaningful change in this country.
Maybe some of you believe I could have made my general point more artfully, but it’s precisely because many of these groups are friends and supporters that I felt it necessary to speak my mind.
There is one way, over the long haul, to guarantee the appointment of judges that are sensitive to issues of social justice, and that is to win the right to appoint them by recapturing the presidency and the Senate. And I don’t believe we get there by vilifying good allies, with a lifetime record of battling for progressive causes, over one vote or position. I am convinced that, our mutual frustrations and strongly-held beliefs notwithstanding, the strategy driving much of Democratic advocacy, and the tone of much of our rhetoric, is an impediment to creating a workable progressive majority in this country.
According to the storyline that drives many advocacy groups and Democratic activists – a storyline often reflected in comments on this blog – we are up against a sharply partisan, radically conservative, take-no-prisoners Republican party. They have beaten us twice by energizing their base with red meat rhetoric and single-minded devotion and discipline to their agenda. In order to beat them, it is necessary for Democrats to get some backbone, give as good as they get, brook no compromise, drive out Democrats who are interested in “appeasing” the right wing, and enforce a more clearly progressive agenda.
The country, finally knowing what we stand for and seeing a sharp contrast, will rally to our side and thereby usher in a new progressive era.
By the way the Obama Camp and supporters have pummeled the more moderate Hillary supporters in the primary, The One meant every word of this when he wrote it back in 2005.
Clearly, this man is no moderate.

I know there are only a couple days left, but I have a suggestion for your canvassing and other activities to get people to vote for McCain/Palin:
What’s being overlooked in the Obama/Bill Ayers kerfluffle is the fact that between the two of them, they managed to make close to $200 million disappear into thin air. (That $200 million includes the Annenberg Challenge grant, othermatching grants and whatever else moeny was scraped up to improve the performance of under-privileged kids in Chicago.) Schools did not receive grant money outright. The schools had to partner with “community” groups, and it was the “community” groups that received the money and decided how to spend the money. Not surprisingly, most of the “community” groups were part of ACORN, and further not surprisingly, the money vanished without producing a single measurable improvement in the kids’s academic performance.
Try hammering that issue home. If Barack can’t be trusted with $200 million, how can he be trusted with the billions and billions of US tax money?

I’m not a troll. I just heard about your site on Rush Limbaugh. Good for you. I am an independent and have supported both Reps and Dems. This time it seems the world is crazy. Obama’s policies and associations are scary. How can the press be so biased for him to the point of being unprincipled? How can people believe the hype? I’m reading posts on your site and getting a good reality check. Thanks.
October 30, 2008 at 12:56 pm
LOL, God love Bill Clinton.
It wasn’t one of his finer moments, but this is the same guy who challenged the definition of “is.”
The man puts a measured weight on everything he says. He’s putting a message out there. Bet on it.

My fellow Americans, I come to you tonight a few days before an election only six days from now. These are monumental times. We face the worst economy since the Great Depression. People are losing their homes, their jobs, their businesses. Students cannot afford their college loans. Single mothers cannot afford day care; our schools are underfunded; families are growing broke paying for health care. And nobody seems to care,
ladies and gentlemen. Nobody seems to represent the middle class. The question is whether we want another eight years of failed policies. I have traveled this nation. From the big cities to our small towns, I have talked to the assembly line worker in Detroit. I have talked to the farmer in Missouri, and working people of this country have had to bear the brunt of eight years of neglect, of policies that have favored the well off and the wealthy. It is time to change the course of the nation, to work together to bring an end to the division that exists in our nation. That’s what this election is about: hope, change, the future.
And so it is, my fellow Americans, that I urge you to reject Barack Obama and his cynical campaign for president. I urge you to reject the policies and the wording of the charismatic demagogue. Barack Obama condemns the United States Constitution, our highest law, because it does not empower him to redistribute the income of the middle class and give it to people who do not work. Obama condemns our judicial system not because it’s too liberal and too activist, but because it will not impose his left-wing policies by judicial fiat. Obama believes that the tax code should be used not to fund the legitimate purposes of government, but to massively expand the size and power of the federal government. It’s time for change. It is time for the kind of change that has made this country great and the change we seek, the change that matters is change that expands our liberty, expands opportunities, expands wealth creation, and expands our horizons. It is time to celebrate capitalism, not demonize it. It’s time to celebrate success, not punish it. It is time to ignite our economy, not smother it.
Barack Obama speaks the language of the socialist. Barack Obama peddles class warfare. He peddles human envy. This is not what American leaders do. This is not what would-be American presidents should do. This is the tactic of the authoritarian, to create animosity, to create anger, to create fear, all for the purpose of undermining the strength and the unity of our society. Barack Obama comes from a long line of ideologues who puts the interests of Big Government above the interests of the individual and the interests of the family. He seeks to replace the American entrepreneurial spirit with government regulations and mandates. James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan, all embraced the principle that America was a different place because of its respect for the individual. They did not talk about the government redistributing wealth. They did not talk about the government punishing success. They did not talk about the government reregulating the economy. They did not say that paying more taxes was patriotic.
They believed, as our leaders have always believed, that government had limits, so that the American dream would have no limits. They believe that each human being is unique, that he or she has the ability to do great things if left alone to pursue their own interests. They believed that ordinary people could accomplish extraordinary things. They rejected outright the authoritarianism that Barack Obama represents. They each swore to uphold the Constitution because they loved it, not because they saw it as a way to take power and subvert it. Throughout our history, our leaders have understood that private property rights are key to the survival of the individual. If you take his property, you take his livelihood. If you take his property, you attack his spirit. From the day our nation was born, the preservation of private property has been considered a priority of law. Barack Obama wants to use the law to destroy private property. This is what he means, when he attacks businesses large and small, when he insists that there must be limits on what you can earn and keep and pass on to your family when you pass away. He wants the government to control your private property, your income, your assets.
In other words, my fellow Americans, Barack Obama believes that when you go to work each day, when you save some of your money, when you write your will, the federal government can and must be involved in all of those decisions. What would Jefferson, Madison, Lincoln, and Reagan say about that? Jefferson and Madison would call it the abuses of monarchy. Lincoln would call it the abuses of despotism. Ronald Reagan would call it the tyranny of socialism. Our nation is built on the premise that the federal government has specific limited powers. It has important powers, yes, but they are restricted to certain activities. And the purpose of those powers is not to expand the authority of politicians and bureaucrats in Washington, but to organize society around the concept of individual liberty. The individual is not to be a slave to government, he is not to be an employee of the politician or the bureaucrat. He is to be respected and protected from government. That is why we have a Bill of Rights. It is why we have separation of powers. It is why we have states’ rights.
For several decades, the left has attempted to destroy these protections. The left does not want to be hemmed in by the Constitution. They have sought ways to avert the legal limits the Founders placed on them and their ambitions, and, sadly, they have made much progress in this regard and they have placed all hope that Barack Obama will finally deliver them the victory over the American people they have craved. And make no mistake, my fellow Americans, a Barack Obama victory is a victory over the American people. And that is, in the end, what this election is really about. Will the American people remain free, or will they once and for all become servants of government? Will the politicians and bureaucrats in Washington be empowered to confiscate the hopes, the dreams, the finances, the property of the people as they see fit, any time they see fit, or will the people still be in charge of their own government and their own destiny? That is what this election is all about.
When Barack Obama says that he will make sure you do not lose your home, that you will go to college, that you will receive free health care, that you will have child care, that you will be free from want, free from desire, free from need, he repeats the lies of past authoritarians who have made the same claims and the same promises and who have delivered nothing but poverty, misery, and hopelessness. Obama represents an ideology for which there are no limits on power. He wants to lead a different kind of government, one in which there are no limits to how much it can confiscate from the people, he wants to lead a movement in which the individual is crushed under the weight of the many. And Obama, like others in the past, speaks of democracy as he pursues anti-democratic goals. As his mentor Saul Alinsky taught, you must use the language of the middle class in order to destroy it.
So I come to you, my fellow Americans, with a simple message. If you believe in the principles and the institutions that have made this nation great, that have given more liberty and prosperity to more people than any other system on the face of the earth, that have created the most tolerant and giving and successful society in human history, then I urge you to reject the candidate who rejects these and our principles. If you want to leave your children and grandchildren and generations yet to come a country that is as free and hopeful and magnificent as the country you live in today and that your parents and grandparents left you, you will reject the candidate who rejects individual liberty, private property rights, and the Constitution. Do not allow a charismatic demagogue to change our great nation in ways that will diminish it. You have your destiny and America’s destiny in your own hands, you, not the media, not the pollsters, not the pundits, you will decide this election. You will decide if you want to live in America or someplace that you won’t recognize in a few years. You will decide if the principles that have served this nation so well will remain our governing principles.
This election, only six days away, is the most important election in our lifetime. Everything is at stake. We know this because Obama has said so. He has thrown down the gauntlet. He is running against our history. He is running against the system. He is running against our liberty, and so it is that I ask you on November 4th, next Tuesday, vote for liberty, your own and the nations. Vote for opportunity, your own and your children’s. Vote for America. Vote for McCain-Palin. You will hear Obama tonight say that we have been talking about the same problems for decades and nothing has ever been done to solve them. This may be the most accurate statement Barack Obama has made, or will make, in the campaign. We have been talking about the same problems for decades. The problem is that for most of these decades, the people who have been fixing them have made them worse. It’s not that we have done nothing to solve these problems.
We have done everything the left promised would solve these problems, and not one of the problems is solved, unless Republicans achieve a majority and govern as such, and then we get welfare reform. And then we get balanced budgets, and then we get tax cuts, and then we get prosperity, and we get good national security, and we get safety. But at those times where Democrats are strong enough in Congress to blunt a Republican president, or run the whole show themselves, they look back over 50 years and they see the same problems, and we have addressed those problems and we have fixed those problems per se, and yet the beneficiaries of the solutions are still as angry and unhappy and miserable as they were 50 years ago when the liberal Democrats began the fix. It makes no sense to let them keep fixing things when all they do is break them.

I’m so happy that there other people out there like me who are willing to put the best interest of America ABOVE politics as usual.
“99 Problems and a Bitch Ain’t One.” Is the song obama actually played when he won the primaries!
Well…Barry….looks like that isn’t the case anymore!

Thats hysterical. I didnt watch the infomercial. But I did watch the rally because I wanted to hear what Bill had to say. I told my husband that it seemed like Bill was backhand complimenting the entire time. I voted for Bill (I was raised a Missouri Dem) the very first time I voted. I am now a republican, but tend to be more moderate. I have to agree with the author of the blog … I have a new found respect for the Clintons.

BILL IS A PUMA!!!!!! That is so hilarious. He does have a way of crafting his words doesn’t he!

Thank goodness for this site. I am scared for our country. For any of the paid Obama bloggers reading this – you are truly pathetic. Your ploy to brainwash this county into thinking that the election is over will NOT work. And Obama does NOT care about you – or any of us for that matter. You have no right to take the freedoms that make this country great from those of us who actually have a clue.
Go McCain!!!

Plenty of useless hot air in here – can I come in? I’m cold and need a job! Better yet, since there seems to be some uncharacteristically conservative generosity wafting around this blog, how about going over to mommy’s pocket book or daddy’s wallet and take out a couple of $20’s…what’s that? No money! Maybe we could pass the hat at McCain’s Defiance Ohio rally – oops! The 6000 school kids that were bussed in must have spent their lunch money. BTW, did the McCain leadership get the memo that kids can’t vote? – but there was good old Joe The No Show – oops! Not a dime from Joe until he pays his back taxes. I guess that just leaves Cindy McCain – I hear she’s loaded. In fact, I pledge 1 million for your little canvassing junket from Cindy! Enjoy the trip!!!

Well – I didn’t really know weather this was an all chic site or not, figured it was a mixed and personally I don’t care.
I’m still not sure how I even ended up on this site but have no intention of leaving.
So from this conservative Repub chic to all of you I can only say Thank You – this site is my daily dose of sanity in this scary and crazy campaign season.

Obama got elected to state office by underhanded, sleazy tricks involving accomplices with access to “private” divorce records. He’s run a campaign based on the assertion that “The only reason a whitey wouldn’t vote for me, is racism.” That is, he’s trying to bully and intimidate his way into office.
He favors infanticide of born-alive abortion victims. He wants Soviet-style open voting on unionizing businesses.
He thinks the State has a right to all our money, any of our money, so it can “spread the wealth” — i.e., “spread YOUR wealth.” Obama is a thief of the King-George-III type.
Or more exactly, he’s a “Lonesome Rhodes” type. He’s an sneaking, underhanded, self-promoting hypocrite, like the character Andy Griffith played in “A Face In The Crowd.” The question is, are all the brainless “Obama girls” and other assorted dimwitted asshats out there, going to put this impostor in charge of us? Forbid it, almighty God!

Congrats on the Rush plug. You do excellent work so its well-deserved. Bravo !

Bill Clinton does have a way with words.
I recall an interview during which he was asked if he thought Obama was qualified to be president.
Pres. Clinton said that it was up to the Constitution who was qualified.
It was a few months ago, but I’ve always wondered if he was referring to the birth certificate and law suits.

Something leaking from The LA Times would be helpful.

I have been looking on this site for Sarah P’s Letter. Where is it?

Where is the Sarah P letter/post that Rush was talking about on his show? Please link to it if possible! Thanks!

What a great ad it would make for McCain to show Clinton “praising” Obama’s inexperience. Love it!

I listen to talk radio when ever I’m driving because I just can’t take all of the “news” breaks and updates on the regular radio. I live in a democratic area and most of the local radio shows don’t hesitate to let us know their politics. I was driving today 28 miles to another small town and since I saw on HILLBUZZ about how they weren’t noticing Obama signs, I thought I’d do my own little investigation too. I’m not even exaggerating, I saw AT LEAST 20 Mccain/Palin signs and literally one Obama Biden sign-and it was torn-we have had some bad storms come in. I don’t understand it, I could’ve sworn this was a dem stronghold- I worked at a polling district in the last election and it SEEMED to have been m ore heavily democratic. I’m starting to wonder just how much the media is bloating Obama’s popularity. I can look at my own story, I’m a registered Dem who already voted for Mccain/Palin, I can say the same for my family memebers-especially my daughter who is in college and was originally on the Obama bandwagon, until the whole “spread the wealth” thing erupted. She actually came to me and asked me to explain it to her. After I finished she asked me “then what am I going to college for?” I could only marvel at her ability to grasp the bigger picture. Contrary to what the media is pandering, I believe the youth are not as gullible as we are being led to believe. My husband, daughter and I are all moderate dems, our son ,ironically, is a conservative republican. We all still manage to get along. One day ,when we were all together for dinner, I said to my son “make your case-convince me,” and damned if he didn’t do just that. This was back in May, by the way, and I still knew I would be voting for Hillary if she got the nomination. The primaries and caucuses were a shocking wake up call, like a bucket of freezing cold water being thrown in the face. I watched the DNC and Howard Dean take down a qualified candidate in favor of their mcuh more liberal messiah, who is a sham. Never,Ever again will I vote just down party lines and the DNC’s behavior has lost itself many, many loyal voters in exactly the same way. Un til the DNC can redeem itself, I will be re-registering as an independent and voting along each man or woman’s merit. I also listen to Sean Hannity and thru his show became aware that we shared some views and maybe could build a bridge on others. That realization led me to Rush, who I also agree with on some things and could possibly come to terms on others. It took having the socialistic daylights scared out of me to put aside my own stubbornness and open my mind. In 2012, if Hillary runs, I will vote for her, but I’ll still listen to Rush and Hannity and keep their good opinions in mind as I cast the lever for other candidates.

Breaking: First Exit Poll of Actual American Voters Shows Huge McCain Win
Cross posted from Radarsite
Coutesy of Naomi Ragen
From National Review Online
From journalist Tom Gross

Within the last hour, the first exit poll of 817 Americans in Israel, who attended U.S. election voting events in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv on Tuesdayevening to vote by absentee ballot, has been released. A startling 76 percent of those polled said that they had voted for John McCain. This contrasts sharply with pre-election polls of American Jews in the U.S., which indicate a strong preference for Obama. The exit poll findings of American voters in Israel are all the more surprising because less than one in four were registered Republicans, and 46% of registered Democrats living in Israel said they had crossed party lines to vote McCain. By contrast, the Republican crossover to Obama wasminimal – just 2%. The votes are significant as almost half of the 42,000 registered U.S.voters living in Israel come from key swing states including Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania. In the 2000 and 2004 elections, Israel had the third-largest group of American voters abroad, after Canada and Britain.

He is wise enough to solicit opinions, and that makes him stupid?
Grow up!

HELLO EVERYONE! URGENT! We all need to contact Philip J Berg, the attorney challenging Obama’s citizenship, and tell him to release the Kenyan Grandmother video. This is the video where Obama’s Kenyan grandmother states she was in the delivery room when Barack was born in KENYA! Encourage him to release it no later than tomorrow as it takes 3 days for the media cycle to get into everyone’s homes! Berg just told Jeff that the translation was just completed as was the authenticity. PLEASE CALL!
His numbers are posted on his website for all to call. However, for you convenience, here is the info:

Go ahead Rush, the Puma’s got your back, just like McCain’s, Palin’s, straight to the Whitehouse.
October 30, 2008 at 3:34 pm
To the editors:
I realize I am posting in the wrong place, but don’t know any other way to reach you.
I wanted to know if anyone else has experienced problems with the Puma08 website. It was up this am, but I have not been able to access it at all this afternoon: “500 Internal Server Error”.
I know you warned of the possibility of anti-obama websites “disappearing” in a previous blog so I wanted to report it just in case. Hope it’s just a false alarm, but would be grateful if someone could check it out. Many thanks.

The first part of Bill’s comments were better – Hillbuzz PLEASE ADD to your post!
But to hear Bill Clinton tell it, the Democratic nominee didn’t quite have a handle on the situation himself.
“I haven’t cleared this with him and he may even be mad at me for saying this so close to the election, but I know what else he said to his economic advisers (during the crisis),” Clinton told the crowd at a Wednesday night rally with Obama in Florida. “He said, ‘Tell me what the right thing to do is. What’s the right thing for America? Don’t tell me what’s popular. You tell me what’s right — I’ll figure out how to sell it.’”

I agree and just did.

Pathetic isn’t it? The media is so biased that they can’t even examine the fact that on two major incidents during this election, Obama had no clue what was going on. First there was Russia. McCain gets it right, Dear Leader Chairman Obama fumbles through it for a few days until he finally says the right answer. Now we have the economy. The elites say it’s his strength. I have known for a long time that it this is his strength, this country better buckle down for along four years. We won’t be able to criticize him either. Look what they do to their critics: Joe the plumber, Barbara West, and Sean Hannity. The smear normal citizens for asking questions. What will it take for this country to wake up before election day?
On a postive note, Rush Limbaugh is a regular to your page. That’s kind cool, eh. OPERATION CHAOS!

[...] Remember that 3am ad? Looks like “The One” Still Needs Hillary. So … So it was too complicated for Obama to understand right away, he had to talk to smart people like Bill and…Hillary to make sense of it. The backhanded compliment is fine and delicate art. Bill Clinton is a master of it. … [...]

Bill is not going to be happy with Obama STEALING and adjusting policies from Hillary and he’s been doing it from day one. He did the same in the Senate to others when he was “given” legislation to “sign on to” that wasn’t his own at all to puff up his resume. Others who worked for years on that legislation were not happy seeing the credit go to Obama. He actually does nothing on his own and has used other people’s work his entire career.
Bill Clinton knows this and is saying to people, he HAS to steal work, to call on everybody and their dog because he can’t act on his own. We’ve all known that for ages when he stole Hillary’s economic plan nearly word for word in the primary and John McCain made fun of him for the worst case of plagerism he said he’d ever seen in his life time. Remember? John saying if Obama was a student at his university he’d throw him out for that.
Teleprompter Jesus can’t do anything on his own. He’s Soros puppet and Axelrod’s creation. That dirty Chicago machine is coming to Washington. The ends does NOT justify the means. In America everyone is supposed to have a vote that counts or else we are no better than a third world country.
Bill Clinton is the best at convincing people and explaining issues. If he wanted to convince people Obama was right for this job you can be sure he’d do just that with skill. He isn’t doing that for a reason.
Don’t vote Obama. He’s bad for this country and advocates disenfranchising any American by “any means necessary” He’s a narcissist. Anything he is now doing for his “supporters” he will later do against them just as he’s done to all of us.
