So, Obama spent millions of dollars last night on a TV Variety Special no one is talking about today. We don’t know what he did on his TV show, because we don’t like listening to him. Unlike his followers, we’ve been to church and knows what a good preacher sounds like — and kids, we’ve got to tell you, if you go weak in the knees listening to Obama, you would have spontaneously combusted hearing Billy Graham back in the day. Even here in Chicago, just about any church had a more effective preacher than Obama – like Trinity United itself, where Obama learned his oration style and melodic rises and falls of cadence. You do know he used to listen to tape of Jeremiah Wright while at Harvard, because he was sharp enough to realize the fastest ticket to the top required mesmerizing black audiences in Chicago. And thus, a star was born…
But one who’s mega-millions TV special fell FLAT!
The mainstream media is so in the tank for Obama, it’s actually hillariously funny to us — because you know something was a disaster for Obama when the media just pretends it never happened.
Chris Matthews, of course, thought the TV special was the greatest thing he had ever seen — unbelievably, he admitted he needed a change of shorts afterwards, so overcome was he by the euphoria of watching Dear Leader for 30 minutes straight, uninterrupted, that Matthews lost all control over himself. All kidding aside, we really do hope MSNBC has good therapists and a 24-hr suicide watch ready for both Matthews and Olbermann next Tuesday, because when Obama loses, the first two people we’d bet will throw themselves off Rockefeller Center will be Obama’s favorite cheerleaders. We’ve never seen two men we thought should be more ashamed of themselves — and with Tim Russert already gone, we doubt there’s anyone left alive who could ever top them. Congratulations on that, we guess!
But, seriously…all that money spent, and all of that buildup, and Obama goes limp. That’s totally not a Larry Sinclair joke, either, but an accurate indictment of a televised flop if ever we saw one.
So, the media, of course, pretends it never happened. Just like all of Obamas gaffes, terrible debate performances, nastiness on the campaign trail, false accusations of RACISM!, broken promises, flip-flopping on every major issue, and generally anything negative towards “Dear Leader”.
With the LA Times continuing to protect Obama by not releasing the tape it has of Obama cheering and laughing while Palestianians closely connected with Yassir Arafat repeatedly call for the destruction of Israel at the Rashid Khalidi dinner, it’s becoming crystal clear to all Americans that the liberal media Republicans have long warned us about is indeed working its agenda to elect a socialist to the highest office in the land. Perhaps the ultimate agenda is for Obama to subsidize the networks as state TV, so maybe every night could ba an “Obama TV Variety Special”, where Dear Leader peeks into our homes via two-way screens and decides whether or not we adequately love him enough that day.
It is the easiest thing in the world to make everything Obama does seem creepy, because this close brush with Big Brother media-promoted socialism is the creepiest thing to happen to America in our lifetime.
That’s why we’re working so hard doing what we do.
That’s why this group of guys in Chicago who support Hillary Clinton are now working hard to elect John McCain and Sarah Palin, because the crazy Obama cult of personality and socialist Big Brother agenda have to be stopped.
We have just a few days left until the election, but are working nonstop in every way we can to win this election and defeat Obama once and for all.
We’re all in this together, people. Whether you’re a Hillary guy like us, or you’re a Republican who found us here today and can’t believe Clinton Democrats are fighting hard for McCain — we’re all Americans who reject Obama and the socialism he stands for.
And today, we can’t help but wonder what anyone here who watched Obama’s TV Variety Special last night thought, because people have been much, much too quiet about it today.
If Obama’s followers don’t want to talk about that special, and the media doesn’t want to talk about that special, don’t you think that’s EXACTLY what we should be doing?
October 30, 2008 at 6:47 pm
Exactly!!! I put last night’s Obamamercial into perspective and thought it would fit nicely into your piece. Thank You!!!
October 30, 2008 at 6:48 pm
I said the same thing at my blog. If this thing did well in the ratings, the MSM would’ve been all over it.
It didn’t They aren’t.
October 30, 2008 at 6:48 pm
HEY OFF TOPIC FOLKS
BUT I SAW ON HANNITY AND COLMES LINK ON FOX NEWS THAT THEY HAVE A COPY OF THE TAPE OF THE 1998 DINNER AND ARE AIRING IT TONIGHT AT 9 EASTERN, 8 CENTRAL TIME
IS THE ONE WHERE MICHELLE LOOK SO PRETTY IN ORANGE?
October 30, 2008 at 6:49 pm
Indeed, was incredibly boring, blatantly false promises, and COMPLETE shock – FIRST THING I NOTICED: Obama said and put on the screen “families making less than 200k will get a tax cut”. Please, PLEASE! $250k has been his number since God-knows-when. Then, Biden says $150k. NEWS FLASH OBAMATRONS: When candidate’s actions run in DIRECT OPPOSITE to future promises, they’re JUNK. He’s never done ANYTHING to help middle class, his neighborhood is a ghetto, and his family is in poverty around the globe. ROFL!!
Add to that, the gift of Bill Clinton, future FIRST MAN of the US:
But to hear Bill Clinton tell it, the Democratic nominee didn’t quite have a handle on the situation himself.
“I haven’t cleared this with him and he may even be mad at me for saying this so close to the election, but I know what else he said to his economic advisers (during the crisis),” Clinton told the crowd at a Wednesday night rally with Obama in Florida. “He said, ‘Tell me what the right thing to do is. What’s the right thing for America? Don’t tell me what’s popular. You tell me what’s right — I’ll figure out how to sell it.’”
October 30, 2008 at 6:51 pm
I did not watch it for reasons similar to yours and because it all makes me ill.
Rush spent the first 90 minutes or so outlining today why it flopped for BHO and the Libs….
Vote McCain!
October 30, 2008 at 6:51 pm
Soo…the Khalidi tape didn’t come out on Fox today. Hopefully tomorrow?
October 30, 2008 at 6:54 pm
Rush sure devoted a large portion of his show today to sound bites and commentary. He summed it up as depressing!
Vote McCain!

October 30, 2008 at 6:56 pm
Not ONLY did the media either ignore it or pan it, but in my MAJOR newsroom … we didn’t even listen to it.
I didn’t even know it had happened.
The bloom is off the rose.
If, Heaven forbid, he actually gets elected, he is so in for it. They will jump on him like rabid dogs.
The real, true reason the media want him elected is because they think he will be fresh news meat.
Alsom marj my words — if he gets in, I give it sux months before the “Black Jimmy Carter” late night jokes hit.
October 30, 2008 at 6:57 pm
A lady I worked with said she watched it last night. I don’t know where she stands, but her comment on the show was “It was pretty slick.”

I watched it.
About 10 minutes in I was ready to go and get that piece of rope I have set aside out in the garage.
The infomercial was awful.
I have never, ever seen a politician so totally beat down and belittle the country that he wants to be president of.

Fox doesn’t have the Khalidi tape – LA Times sits on it
October 30, 2008 at 7:02 pm
It fell very flat. Just look at the ratings numbers. Oh, yeah, CNN will tell you it was a ratings bonanza. 30 million viewers. Wow – 7 million less than Sarah Palin’s acceptance speech.
But here are some really telling number:
1.) Top rated market was… Baltimore. You don’t say? You mean all those creepy insiders in DC were tuned in? NO WAY.
2.) 2nd highest rated market was… Philly. 3rd highest was… West Palm Beach-Ft. Pierce.
3.) 5 of the top 20 rated markets were in… Florida.
So, why is that? Because they all had the TV on FOX while they were making nachos for Game 5 of the World Series.
4.) None of the top 10 rated markets were west of the Mississippi. LA was #28, San Fran was #37, Portland, OR was dead last.
And all this was even with the infomercial in primetime for ALL time zones.
5.) Barry receive only 5% more market share than Ross Perot got in 1992. 5% more than Ross Perot???? OUCH!!!
And it would have been worse had there not been a whole bunch of TVs tuned into FOX in Philly & Florida waiting for the game.
This was a ratings failure. It does not bode well for Barry.
October 30, 2008 at 7:04 pm
I didn’t watch it. My Obama friends didn’t watch it. I think the pundits, Obama freaks and media watched it, but most folks just changed the channel. All in all, I would call it a flop.
October 30, 2008 at 7:04 pm
Hey — supposedly Rush talked all about you guys! Did you hear it? Look over at the Hillary Forum — there’s a thread.

Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber rally in Bowling Green
October 30, 2008 at 7:04 pm
I saw earlier today that it garnered 17 million viewers total — Less than the Hillary vote.
It sure was an uplifting tour of soup line America. Didn’t any of these sad sack people realize there are already programs on the books to satisfy what true needs these whiners had?
October 30, 2008 at 7:10 pm
I heard that it was a nonstop woe is me fest.
I also heard that he had a woman on whos biggest obstacle in this HORRIBLE country during this AWFUL economic depression was that her snacks didn’t last all week any more. Her kids would sometimes have to go without kookoo cruches or bitter arugala snaps or whatever other sugar laden junk she normally buys.JEEEZ!!
Snacks?!!?
I bet the people who lived during the real great depression would have loved for that to have been their only problem.

Has anyone else noticed Fox News going soft on Obama lately? I actually turned Brit Hume off this afternoon — almost as bad as CNN!!!
If Fox goes I have noplace to watch news.
Thank God for these blogs.
October 30, 2008 at 7:12 pm
After two years of enduring the rhetoric of the “dear leader”, the 30 min Barak-a-palooza infomercial was the last straw. I think people are Barak-fatigued…they are tired of hearing how awful America is and how we should all feel guilty for our freedom and prosperity. Thinking people are beginning to realize (I suspect) that our national greatness and econmic prowess come not from a government handout, but from the blood and tears of our forefathers, sons, and daughters who purchased(s) this great country with their lives. Be proud of America! Be proud of our prosperity! Be proud of our military might! Be proud of our judeo-Christian heritage! Last nights infomercial was nothing but a slap in the face to all of that and a proposition to all of us to believe the worst about America instead of remembering the best! That is why the media is sitting on it!

Instead of 30 minutes of Obamalapaloser, why doesn’t some 527 run a 30 minute infomercial with all the great goodies about The One that the MSM has failed to investigate or report to the American public, and Larry Sinclair would be a good start, and the birth certificate, the medical records, college records, state senate records, income tax records, passport records, dinners with Said, Rezko, Auchi, and all the other model citizens Senator Government hangs out with. We don’t need to see a kid glove, don’t delve too deep show, we need a Chicago style, down and dirty, take the gloves off and call a liar a liar show. That would be good ratings.
October 30, 2008 at 7:26 pm
I watched it.
I even mediocrely live-blogged it: http://cranfordpundit.wordpress.com/2008/10/29/live-blog-of-obama-mercial/
It was uninspiring, and I was looking for things to make me nervous since I loathe the guy. At the end I wasn’t nervous at all, just unimpressed.
I thought he would be more positive…and the people he picked were not strong examples – like the old couple with costly medications…why aren’t they in Medicare Part D? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medicare_Part_D
And it got only a 21 percent share despite the saturation. And that is only up against Pushing Daisies.
October 30, 2008 at 7:26 pm
edge,
I know, but yesterday Hillbuzz speculated “It feels to us like the pump is being primed for something to break on this tomorrow. It also seems like FOX anchors know more about what’s on that tape than humanly possible without actually seeing it…So, we expect FOX to start airing the tape tomorrow.”
Didn’t happen today, obviously. Hope it happens tomorrow.
October 30, 2008 at 7:26 pm
Does anyone remember that show Mystery Science Theater 3,000 where the scientist and the robots would watch old B Movies and make fun of them? Someone should do that to the Obamamercial from last night. Surely someone could come up with a few good riffs.
On another note: out here in San Diego, not many Obama signs (very, very few actually).

A true Hillbuzzard, I didn’t watch the Obamercial because, honestly, I can barely set my eyes on his faces these days without dry heaving. My middle finger involuntarily shoots up at every Obama yard sign I pass on the road (which really isn’t that often actually).
But, like everyone’s saying, I’m not hearing a single thing about it! No online sites or the television or the radio…nothing. Did it actually broadcast? haha
Less than 5 days now until Barack Obama slips into obscurity…
October 30, 2008 at 7:39 pm
on nov.4th, we the people, both republicans and democrats who truly love our country, will go to the polls and say to barfy oblahblah….”you are the weakest link, goodbye.” we the people cannot be fooled, intimidated, guilt-ed, bullied or yelled into voting for a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical, socialist, anti-american, hate monger.
October 30, 2008 at 7:40 pm
Thank you all for being who you are and doing what you do. I had kept the hope that the Democrats I respected still exist, and had not all been taken over by the leftist “pod people”. (I hope some of you are old enough to know who the “pod people” were.) Thanks again, from a Harry Truman fan.
October 30, 2008 at 7:44 pm
I finally figured out the analogy. Obama is the Elmer Gantry of American presidential politics.
What I want to know is, who is his Shirley Jones?
October 30, 2008 at 7:48 pm
Obama was on TV last night ??
October 30, 2008 at 7:51 pm
Best comment: All sham, no wow.
I think the main reason it failed is that they couldn’t run it against McCain, e.g. “look how awesome 0 looked compared to old, angry McCain.” Like how they could run down McCain’s work in the debates.
October 30, 2008 at 7:51 pm
Anecdotal information from a McCain phone bank today. Two women from North Carolina today said that they were voting for the first time ever in this year’s election (one woman in her 50s, one in her 70s). They are voting for Sen. McCain. A fellow phonebanker last night was making calls to Spanish-speaking households and talked to a woman who was switching her vote from The One to Sen. McCain because she’s sick of seeing The One on TV.
BTW, Rush mentioned, and read one of the comments, from HillBuzz today.
October 30, 2008 at 7:55 pm
I thought I’d watch it, even though I am voting McCain, but it was so boring I changed the channel. It was slick, well made…but, wasn’t authentic! Who really is Obama? Whoever we want him to be.
October 30, 2008 at 7:58 pm
Ref: the FOX tape.
Thursday, October 30:
• We’ve obtained our own tape of controversial figure Rashid Khalidi speaking at an event in 1998 and you won’t believe what he said about U.S. foreign policy and Chicago politics! Tune in tonight to find out.
DIFFERENT event, but the same guy.
Also, read the story the LA Times DID print about the dinner. Particularly, note the “warm embrace” mentioned in it. There is video that Obama does NOT want seen.
So, FOX is showing video of the man that Obama toasted and embraced at Khalidi’s “Going Away Party” in Chicago. That’s the deal.
Also, note Obama has used, almost verbatim, the same scripted lines to explain this relationship that he did with Ayers and Dohrn. A “guy in the neighborhood” “respected” “kids go to same school as my kids” — same words. Though I wonder, how old were Obama’s kids at the time Khalidi left in 2003?
Point, though. If he was just another “guy from the neighborhood” what was he doing at this farewell dinner and why was he asked to go to the podium and present a toast to a man he, supposedly, didn’t even know?
Isn’t this charade getting a bit old and worn out by now?
Not only will I not be voting for Barack Obama for President of the United States, I wouldn’t vote for him as Mayor of Wasilla, if I was eligible.
Wait, I don’t have to be eligible to vote anymore. I can vote wherever and as often as I want. Then, I’m definitely not voting for him for Mayor of Wasilla though it might be fun to write his name in, just so he’d get one vote.
October 30, 2008 at 8:06 pm
Am i the only person concerned about the way obama burns through money. I mean this man is asking for more money angain. What the hell did he do with the last 150 million he raised last month.
October 30, 2008 at 8:13 pm
The Frank Luntz guy was on O’Reilly with his 24-person “undecided” focus group. The takeaway? Luntz asked, “Who learned anything new?” Not a SINGLE hand went up. The crowd looked disgusted.

I am so glad I am not the only one who says they can’t stand to look at him or hear his voice. I get the heebie jeebies everytime his name is mentioned or I see his signs. He is a lesion on the soul of America and he needs to get no further after Tuesday November 5th.

October 30, 2008 at 9:16 pm
Y’all , thank you so much for your blog!
I know you must be writing this even in you
sleep, because it takes time to do this
much work, and quality work I might add.
I didn’t watch the Obama love fest video; like we used to say in the 80′s gag a mag!
I was on Greta Wire last night during part of the infomercial and I kept hearing people
bailing on Obama due to the hallowness of the content. He showed us exactly what he is made of!
October 30, 2008 at 9:21 pm
Obama’s Infommercial revealed his campaign’s concern about Palin whether anyone admits it or not.
Last night, the very first story/interview they showed was a white middle class mom of five who pointed out her “soccer van” and talked about how proud she was to be a mom and how difficult the challenges were of raising her family.
Before the infomercial they were talking about how everything in the show was focused group and strategically developed to hit the demographics they were targeting.
I laugh when I read that Palin is hurting McCain. What a joke!
October 30, 2008 at 9:24 pm
Lol, Nancy
There must be some kind of block on some of us! We’re immune.
October 30, 2008 at 10:33 pm

I subjected myself and my family to the snore fest last night. I started yelling at the tv 2 minutes in so I started biting my tongue and IM’ing friends who I knew were watching it too. Within 5 minutes my husband AND my son were both yelling at the TV.
Production wise it was slicker than slick! Content wise it was the same old same old that we have heard out of him through out the whole campaign. Platitude central!
Keep the faith friends. We have 5 more days to make that final pitch.

October 30, 2008 at 11:07 pm
I posted this last night over at Townhall.com. I wrote it while the Obamamercial was running, so my observations are in chronological order.
Subject: As I write, I’m being lied to.
I’m being offered money for my vote. Your money.
I’m being told that opportunities just won’t exist unless The One can make the bad people make them exist.
I’m being hoodwinked into forgetting the axiom, “hard cases make bad law.”
I’m being reminded of the hardships caused by high gasoline prices: did he make this video last month?
I’m being sold helpful programs that are already part of existing law.
I’m being offered solutions that inevitably involve more government.
I’m being scolded about divisions and the need for bipartisanship by the most divisive candidate of my lifetime.
I’m being advised to unite behind The One because present difficulties reflect intractible destiny.
I’m being duped into thinking that someone who has been wrong in every foreign policy and military-related statement ever to have crossed his lips can persuade our nation’s enemies to lay down their swords and beat them into plowshares without their breaking into uncontrollable laughter.
And in the final few seconds, he paraphrased the now famous canard, “this is the greatest country in the world: work with me to change that.”
Mercifully, finally, the harangue ends.
Play ball.
October 30, 2008 at 11:27 pm
the “Obamamercial” last night was “Misery On Parade”(little HOPE here)with Tax Hikes comming for the “Job” makers in the economy, America will sink into the depths of an earlier era. an Obama presidency will be a replay of the Carter years, with double digit everything going the WRONG WAY. and a refresher course in WHY Marxist “Socialism” DOESN’T WORK.
IF elected Obama could be the Last President of what we once knew, as The United States.
October 30, 2008 at 11:34 pm
Do you suppose some digi-head out there in the vast sea of NObots could put Sarah’s head on the female runner in this Mac commercial… just as she is spinning to release the sledge hammer… with Big Brother in view on the screen?
You can Google the commercial at “1984 Macintosh Commercial”.
October 31, 2008 at 12:21 am
the infomercial was SO SO contrived and complete and utter BS! It was basically taking everything a focus group loves and putting it into obama’s mouth. it was done with meticulous care and many many focus groups were used. it was the worst of politics and he was just telling us what we wanted to hear!
what a liar and a panderer.
what a joke. what a waste!
we want hillary!!!!!!
October 31, 2008 at 12:34 am
From what I have heard about the infomercial it reminded me of that old Hee Haw skit. “Gloom, despair and agony on me. Deep dark depression, excessive misery. If it weren’t for bad luck I’d have to luck at all. Gloom, despair and agony on me.”
October 31, 2008 at 12:52 am

“it’s becoming crystal clear to all Americans that the liberal media Republicans have long warned us about is indeed working its agenda to elect a socialist to the highest office in the land.”
That is one of the most amazing things I have ever read. For a Democrat to admit that is absolutely refreshing.
Knowing all along what a biased media was capable of, those of us on the right have tried to warn the country for years that the media was not giving the American people the full story. But as long as the media was on your side, like it was with the Clinton’s before Obama came along, it was all to easy to dismiss the absolutely valid criticisms of the MSM coming from the right.

I didn’t watch it. There was a hockey game on.
