Tonight’s been a busy night, in that we’ve talked to a half dozen people on three times as many subjects – including Team Hillary members in New Hampshire and Maine, who we know well from the primaries.
Here’s the kicker: these people aren’t McCain supporters. Several are working for Obama now in both states, because they have political jobs and thus must tow the party line. Others are voting Green and no longer campaigning for anyone, but are tuned into things in their states.
We know nothing about New Hampshire or Maine and have never pretended to. We won’t start now. All we’ll tell you is what these people told us tonight, and it’s that they truly do expect John McCain to win both New Hampshire and Maine next week, for the reasons they gave below:
(1) In both states, they have never seen an enthusiasm deficit for Democrats like this. Hillary Democrats there say there are more “closet McCain supporters” than anyone can count. Despite what the media says, people are not enthused and fired up to go out and vote for Obama — quite the contrary: people are scare of Obama’s policies and will be voting McCain. The enthusiasm deficit in both New Hampshire and Maine is “as clear as day” according to those we spoke to tonight. They say they do not see anywhere near the level of Obama signs, stickers, buttons, etc. out this year, as they did Kerry, Gore, Clinton, and even Dukakis gear in years past. They say this is actually shocking, because it should be everywhere, but no one cares enough to put those signs out. No one can use the excuse that there’s not enough money for signs and stickers: Obama’s campaign is supposedly rolling in dough, so why aren’t New Hampshire and Maine blanketed in Obama signs? Because people don’t want them in their yards and won’t be voting for him.
(2) We asked why people in these states are not voting for Obama and were told that in Maine, especially, a lot of it has to do with Joe the Plumber and redistributing the wealth. Much of Maine makes its living off the sea: fishermen pull in $200,000 or more a year in family businesses. Joe Biden’s slip that Obama really intends to define “wealthy” as $150,000 a year or above sent terror through Maine’s fishing community and other small business industries. We were told tonight that Maine and New Hampshire have more small family businesses that would be affected by Obama’s redistribution of wealth than we could imagine. Joe the Plumber resonated with these people — especially the fishermen. Todd Palin was recently dispatched to Maine in what the media claimed was an attempt to score one electoral college vote for Maine: tonight we were told it looks like McCain will win the whole state, not just that one congessional district.
(3) Sarah Palin was the smartest move John McCain could ever have made — she is playing incredibly well in Maine and New Hampshire, two states made up of mostly small towns, all of whom are outdoorsy and have traditions of female mayors, council members, and other high elected officials. Maine has two female United States Senators. That honestly never occured to us until now, but it does make a lot of sense. We knew Hillary Clinton would never win Iowa in the primaries because Iowa’s never elected a woman to high office — Maine has. Many, many times. People relate to Palin and trust John McCain. They like these candidates — while Obama in an unknown whose relationships and judgment make people uneasy. Add the socialism business to the top of this, and we’re told it moves New Hampshire and Maine into the red column.
Like we said at the start of this, we don’t know what to add here because these are two states we didn’t work for Hillary Clinton and that we know little about. The above was reported to us, and passed onto you, but the sources are solid people we know well, and whom we respect.
The other interesting tidbit that came out of the conversation tonight was that of the Hillary Clinton convention delegates who are openly supporting John McCain, the largest number of these people come from states that held caucuses.
We were told tonight that no one is yet picking up on the fact that Democrats in states that held caucuses, and who saw firsthand the fraud, voter intimidation, and other vile tricks Obama pulled in caucus states have NOT forgotten about any of this. These people are still LIVID that a Democrat dared to use Chicago fraud and intimidation to game the caucus system. The Clinton delegates from caucus states have been coordinating efforts amongst themselves for payback against Obama on November 4th, since no state will vote in a caucus then.
We’re told this is the reason that Iowa is so much closer than we ever dreamed it would be. Remember, we have insisted McCain would lose Iowa because of his opposition to ethanol subsidies. So, we’ve been baffled by McCain and Palin’s appearances throughout Iowa, or the fact internals we see show the state incredibly close. We never could figure out why — and it was so obvious this whole time. THE CAUCUS FRAUD Obama committed back in January is coming back to bite him in a HUGE way. Because of the ethanol opposition, McCain should be losing Iowa by large numbers — but the people we spoke to this evening says he’ll end up winning the state, largely because of Democrats who are so disgusted by the behavior of Obama’s followers during the caucuses.
This isn’t just Hillary Democrats either. It’s a large swath of Democrats who feel violated by the tactics Obama employed in their state — bringing thugs from Chicago across the Illinois border to vote in Iowa’s caucuses. People there remember the truth, and will have that in mind on November 4th.
We aren’t prepated to say whether we agree with any of this in terms of New Hampshire, Maine, or Iowa. We still believe Obama will take Iowa because of ethanol, but the people we spoke to were very convincing to the contrary. The ones in Maine and New Hampshire insisted over and over again that they’ve been at this for years and Obama is just not going to win either state.
They have never seen enthusiasm for a Democratic candidate so low — or fear of small-business-killing socialism so high. These people know in their guts McCain will win these states.
It’s how we feel about Ohio, the state we know best and report on frequently here. McCain will win Ohio, with no doubt in our mind. And others feel the same about New Hampshire, Maine, and Iowa.
And all of us agree that on election night, the media will be spinning and sputtering and trying to explain things that those of us on the ground have seen coming for months now.
Anyone from New Hampshire, Maine, or Iowa, please add your thoughts here — since we will never be able to research your states enough to form a strong opinion on any of this. But, we’d love to hear what you think of the reports on these states we received today.

Very interesting. My mom (Hillary worshipper who voted McCain, or as she likes to say, Palin, already) just drove down to NY to visit me from her house in MA. When she got here all she could talk about was how few Obama bin Biden bumper stickers she’d seen, and how many McCain/Palin she spotted. I’m in an incredibly liberal enclave so I see lots of OB stickers, but she was really amazed. All of her MA friends are voting McCain (they’re all Hillary people). Maybe we’ll get a miracle. I have a feeling Palin is well connected in that regard…

I’m in Iowa and the ethanol stance McCain has is what is hurting him like you mentioned.
Also, I wanted to say thank you to all of you. After GretaWire, this is my 2nd favorite location to visit. You guys are always so upbeat!
Greta just posted this and I thought you would all like it. I wanted to share it because of Sarah’s comments on Down Syndrome. This is an excerpt from a rally she had tonight in Indiana.
“And that is to help our families who have children with special needs. (says something to a baby?) because it’s time, it is time, too often children with special needs have been, in a sense, set apart and excluded and made to feel that there’s no place for them in the life of our country. And this attitude is a grave disservice to these beautiful children, to their families and to America and I’m going to work to change that (applause) because John and I, John and I have a vision of an America where every innocent life counts (applause). I’ve gotta make a comment about this poster; I’m extra special just like trig. Now what she’s saying there, with that extra chromosome, that (20:08:33) our blessed bundles of joy were born with, it’s like a bumper sticker that was mailed to me from a down syndrome group in Arizona. You know how we have the bumper stickers on the back of our vehicles saying you know, my kid’s a better soccer player than your kid and my kid’s on the honor roll and your kid isn’t. Well this bumper sticker says, we win. My kid has more chromosomes than your kid (applause). Indiana, this vision that John and I have for a more welcoming America where every child has a chance to contribute and every child is cherished, it’s the spirit that we wanna bring to Washington and it is time.

This blog is a breath of fresh air in an otherwise horrible election cycle. I am a Republican but I am not your run of the mill. I could never say a bad thing about Kerry because he always struck me as a decent human being. In the US he is almost ordinary but in most other countries they would fall on their knees to have the chance to vote for someone like him.
When I told my uber lib friends that HillBuzz has caused me to completely rethink Hillary Clinton, he almost fell out of his chair. But I mean it. Obama is the knocking on the oval office door. I had a nightmare last night I was reading a Supreme Court Opinion delivered by Chief Justice Ayers with Justices Dohrn, Khalidi and Wright concurring but Justice Farakhan concurring in the decision to shoot the old justices but dissenting over the fact they were not tortured first.
October 29, 2008 at 9:27 pm
There is no way McCain takes Maine, imo.
As far as a lack of lawn signs, it may be because the Obama campaign charges for them; you just don’t get one for free.
But I’m sorry…saying McCain will win Maine makes me doubt the accuracy of other info here. And I would REALLY like to believe it.

Two weeks back I had a dream. It’s election night and the returns in the east are beginning to come in.
And the talking heads on TV are in shock. They can’t believe what is happening. Maine has gone for McCain.
Now I have no ties to Maine and have not been although family has spent vacations up there in the summer. So I have no knowledge nor claim any insight.
This story about people who know the state well is very interesting.
Election night may not be so boring after all.

I’m trying to get this out to everyone I can (my apologies if it has been posted here before). This commentary by Dr. Edwin Vieira, Jr. (four degrees from Harvard, including a J.D.) is the most logical, comprehensive, and chilling I’ve read on the decision of Judge Surrick regarding the certificate of live birth issue. He outlines eight constitutional consequences of what would happen if Obama does not produce the requested evidence of his natural-born status, and it is not a pretty picture at all. For instance, if it is true that he is not a natural-born citizen, does not produce the evidence, and is elected on Nov. 4, Congress could pass no laws. Furthermore, Obama could not be impeached, since he was not legally the president. Armed forces would potentially have to arrest him, which could lead to civil war.
The easiest link to the article entitled “Obama Must Stand Up Now or Sit Down” by Dr. Vieira is at the following site:

I live in the People’s Republic of Massachusetts but do business in both NH & ME.
From my (limited) exposure NH is going for McCain. “Live free or die” still resonates there and people are waking up to what Obamanomics mean for them.
Not sure about Maine though. The people I know there (almost all small business owners) still seem to be drinking the kool-aid…

First off, I want to thank all you PUMA’s out there, you’ve kept me sane and encouraged for the past week and a half now. I’ve been a fiscal conservative all my life, now nearing my 50th year and vote accordingly. This year will be no different. I live in southern New Hampshire and can honestly say I’m seeing more McCain/Palin signs, like 10 to 1 until you get into the cities. I work in Manchester, this states largest city and I still see more McCain signs like 4-5 to 1. Almost no Obama bumper stickers which were very prevalent in the last two elections. Voters aren’t really talking about who they’re voting for most are keeping quite. I have relatives in Maine and although I do know some that are voting for Obama I think they are anti Bush votes. Southeastern Maine you find a heavy elitest population and green types too and the northeastern alot of poverty, drug problems, and again in the Bar Harbour area more elitests. Rest of state should go red, but those areas are sparsely populated. That’s my take on things up here in New England.
Again thanks PUMA’s for all your efforts, I truly thank you.

I’m in Illinois, south of Chicago, Will County & DuPage and I know it is not in play, but here’s an interesting tidbit.
This morning on my way to work I saw a car with an Obama sticker near my house and I determined to pay attention to how many cars I would see them on. I drive 26 miles to work on busy streets, many of them residential. It’s a 50 minute drive. I did not see any more Obama stickers. Further, I only saw one Obama sign in a yard. I did not see any McCain signs, either but I am told there aren’t many to be had because they are not spending money in IL. I saw one sticker on a car that said “I voted.”
So, the interesting thing is that like Sebastian said last week, in 2004, there were lots of bumper stickers on both sides; this year, practically none. That tells me that people are not sharing their presidential preference this year. I saw lots of signs for local races, but how strange is it to see a yard full of signs for Democrats, including Durbin, but no Obama sign? The same is true for Republican local races, no McCain sign, but as I said, someone boasted to me of finding a McCain sign because they are in short supply here.

I have family in Iowa and I just can’t imagine most of them voting for Obama.
October 29, 2008 at 9:55 pm
A similar process seems to be at work here in Colorado. Outside of the Denver Metro area, you see very few (if any) Obama signs. Within Denver Metro itself, Obama signs stickers are not as numerous as one would expect. In the state, Denver, Boulder and Adams counties are largely Democratic. A couple of friends who are connected into Democratic politics are quite surprised by the lack of Obama signs at this stage. Four years ago, there were plenty of Kerry signs and eight years ago plenty of Gore signs on display. Even in 1992 and 1996, there were plenty of Perot and Clinton signs. They would find it hard to believe if the Obama campaign was short on signs and cash in the state. They don’t believe the Obama campaign is marshalling their resources now.
Definitely something is at work here.
And, BTW, I convinced my Democratic friends and one undecided WalMart clerk to vote for McCain/Palin. No Eoyore (sp?) at work here.

I live in Maine’s second congressional district and am a Republican McCain supporter. McCain/Palin may win this district’s electoral vote, but I don’t think they’ll be able to overcome the strong anti-Bush vote in the first district. Obama will win three electoral votes here – McCain will take one.
October 29, 2008 at 10:02 pm
‘Twas the night before elections
And all through the town
Tempers were flaring
Emotions all up and down!
I, in my bathrobe
With a cat in my lap
Had cut off the TV
Tired of political crap.
When all of a sudden
There arose such a noise
I peered out of my window
Saw Obama and his boys
They had come for my wallet
They wanted my pay
To give to the others
Who had not worked a day!
He snatched up my money
And quick as a wink
Jumped back on his bandwagon
As I yelled out,”You fink!”
He then rallied his henchmen
Who were pulling his cart
I could tell they were out
To tear my country apart!
‘ On Fannie, on Freddie,
On Biden and Ayers!
On Acorn, On Pelosi’
He screamed at the pairs!
They took off for his cause
And as he flew out of sight
I heard him laugh at the nation
Who wouldn’t stand up and fight!
So I leave you to think
On this one final note-
IF YOU DONT WANT SOCIALISM
GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!
October 29, 2008 at 10:05 pm
We live in Ohio…Cincinnati…out in the suburbs. Our street has all McCain signs..ONE Obama. They have stuck it up in the bushes near the door. I guess they are too embarrased :) Anyway…we are catholic and drive our 4 year old to a catholic preschool in another area of town…there is not one near us. There were many Obama signs there…but no longer. They are disappearing. I drive over there Mon,Wed and Fri…every week. I helped out in the class today, and we took a walk around the neighborhood…to see “FALL”….well, there are 14 children in this class, they all clapped and shouted McCain each time we passed a sign. They were all quite when we passed Obama signs. These are kids of blue collar families…mostly low-income. I have been amazed at the number of people that had an Obama sign in their yard, and have removed it. This is all very recent, and I believe, indicative of the “joe the plumber” type of stories coming out against him. A cute sidebar….Our 4 yr. old does not read…however, she knows a McCain sign and proudly screams it in the car as we pass one. Her older brother and sister have tried to fool her, but she knows the letters MCCAIN!!!!! I grew up Irish,Catholic and Democrat…It has been hard to watch the change in that party. John McCain and Sara Palin..LOVE,HONOR and RESPECT this country, and at the end of the day, that is what it is all about.
October 29, 2008 at 10:07 pm
Freakzilla, the Real Clear Politics composite has McCain down by 17 in Washington, that’s averaging 4 polls that have him down from 11 to 21 points.
I’m not buying that based on the total lack of Obama signs and bumper stickers I see around. Remember 4 years ago how you couldnt go 2 feet without seeing them?
I think it’s a lot closer than the polls show but that’s just my gut feeling.
October 29, 2008 at 10:07 pm
Do I think McCain can win Maine? Well, let’s just say I find that more likely than Obama winning Arizona, as a recent poll seemed to indicate was possible. (Suuuuure.) That having been said, I don’t think McCain winning all of Maine is all that likely. HOWEVER, given Maine’s system for awarding electoral votes, McCain could win one of them even if Obama takes the state. That’s why the campaign has been showing up in Maine.
Iowa? Well, there’s got to be SOME reason that the McP campaign is spending some of its precious time and money there.
New Hampshire? Whether or not it puts him over the top, I think if he wins New Hampshire, he will have done so as part of a winning effort .
Do I think y’all may be a little overly optimistic here? Yep. Do I find that to be a problem? Nope. Given all of the astroturfing and “the Republicans are DOOOOOMED!” claptrap coming from the other side, anything that encourages people to get out and vote for McCain/Palin rather than sitting at home convinced that all is hopeless is fine with me. You’re not spreading falsehoods – you’re giving your best-informed opinion. Could be right, could be wrong, but in the end it counteracts the highly effective viral campaign that the Obama team has waged, and we need all of that that we can get. So thank you.
October 29, 2008 at 10:08 pm
Hmmm, McCain will be making a stop in Maine sometime before election day, the Maine GOP announced.
Personally, I don’t see why he and Gov Palin aren’t back in Colorado and Nevada! Hold FL, OH, NC, VA, OH, MO, NV and CO and you win the election.
October 29, 2008 at 10:08 pm
Miracle Rose,
I can see parts of upstate NY going for McCain. However, it certainly won’t be enough to combat the lower part of the state that pretty much could be a state on its own. Also, large towns like Rochester, Buffalo, and Syracuse (also popular college towns) will probably go in favor of McCain. We all know NY is a lost cause but I’d be interested to know if Obama lost any votes because he screwed over the Senator of the state.
October 29, 2008 at 10:08 pm
Does he mean Maine as in the entire state, or just the bonus 1 vote? The latter is certainly possible; the former, it would be a nice bonus but probably shouldn’t get your hopes up.

I’m a Republican, but I appreciate your optimism and support. I disagree with Hillary on a few issues, but I consider her to be a very classy public servant. I like Schumer too, but that gets me into trouble in my circles. I just wanted to pass along two tidbits to back up this post, before the Obamabots start spamming relentlessly.
Early voting in NV and FL are going Democratic. However, in the exit polls in both states so far show a very close race. Mac is up in FL and is only behind in NV by 50-48. And that’s with many more Dems voting than Republicans. It seems the PUMAs are voting early. I hope my Republican brethren will show up on election day. Here are the article links below. Take care.

McCain has to be going for that single EV vote in the 2nd Congressional District.
He could then lose Iowa, NM, and Colorado but hold Nevada, take NH and the EV vote from Maine would put him at 270.

I can’t believe he actually makes people pay for them–good grief–he’s such a cheapskate! Will think positively on the above information!! I am in Michigan, NO Obama signs anywhere, ironically, not even at the union halls… Not common at all here in MI. I know the union’s are endorsing him. My husband and I have been working diligently to get other Dem’s to cross over. We have been very successful, I am not happy with the DNC, and as you all know we were disinfranchised here. We have a base of about 200 that are voting for McCain, but it is too tight lipped here. I cannot find any PUMA’s, and the MI DEM party is still supporting “the one”.. If anyone can give me a contact name or info I would appreciate.

“Personally, I don’t see why he and Gov Palin aren’t back in Colorado and Nevada!”
Um, could be the REAL poll numbers have them up quite comfortably. Thank you Joe the Plumber.
October 29, 2008 at 10:41 pm
I live in Iowa and I regularly volunteer at McCain headquarters. I continually hear from staffers that we are within the margin of error and the campaign really thinks McCain can win here. I also heard that Obama is scared enough that he is going to lose this state that he is coming back here soon. Why is he doing that if he really has the state so wrapped up? I know a lot of people who are very scared of an Obama presidency. But there are a lot of Obama supporters here as well, but what I am finding is that they are clueless as to who Obama really is or what he stands for and I think they can be swayed to McCain if given the facts. Headquarters is teeming with volunteers!!

Vote McCain/Palin
October 29, 2008 at 10:43 pm
There are plenty of scenarios where McCain could use 5 electoral votes. The issue is NM, CO and IA. If Obama wins all three, then McCain is short 5 EV. This is assuming McCain gets FL and OH with Obama getting PA.
SO!!! 4 EV from NH and 1EV from Maine = 5 EV and puts McCain at 270 EV exactly.
October 29, 2008 at 10:44 pm
Nevada and CO will go to McCain, don’t worry about it!
If McCain wins PA (which I think he will), then it will be a landslide with McCain possibly winning NH, Iowa, and Maine (maybe even WI).
If he doesn’t, then it will be a close one (like 2000).
October 29, 2008 at 10:46 pm
i’ve been saying it all along…
mccain palin landslide…
i am one of the few in my circles who is openly voting for mccain…
but people i think are voting obama send me private emails telling me they just don;t want to deal with being called a racist, or evil, or dumb…they assure me they are voting mccain too…
after reading your blog and comments, i guess now i kind of want to go to that $3 million victory party in chicago…
i’m linking this site to my blog…

The caucus fraud argument is interesting. Looks like those chickens may be coming home to roost after all.
I also noticed that fewer people are wearing the Obama pins lately in the upper West Side. It started to decline about a month ago- I think people are weary of the intensity required to be an Obama cultist.
October 29, 2008 at 10:48 pm
I have had business in south Louisiana the past few days, a lot of it in New Orleans East and surrounding areas which I would have expected to be over the top with enthusiasm Obama.
I saw about five signs for Bill Jefferson.
TWO for BHO.
October 29, 2008 at 10:51 pm
I live in the Mtns in CO about 2 hrs west of Denver near Vail and there are way more McCain signs up here, problem is our population is really small.
Other problem is I was in downtown Denver this past weekend in the central area and it was all Obama signs. Thats to be expected though in that area. Outer city limits had more McCain signs maybe 60-40.
Regardless everyone I know is voting McCain. Not sure what to think of CO, 50/50 chance I think.
October 29, 2008 at 10:53 pm
I’m a life-long Democrat turned Independent over the past eight years. And, to top it off, I live in upstate NY. I was for Hillary, but now I’m voting McCain/Palin. Frankly, Obama’s policies scare the hell out of me and many other of friends, family and coworkers. In fact, out of probably 25 people, I know of only three who are (admitting, anyways) to vote for Obama. I know McCain won’t win New York, but it won’t exactly be a 30 point spread for him, either.
I may not agree with McCain on most matters, but I do know that his love of country is unconditional. Unfortunately, Obama seems to only be enamored with himself…
October 29, 2008 at 11:00 pm
I am a died in the wool Republican, but I have been heartened by the committment and determination of Hillary supporters and PUMAS who are NOT going to let party affiliation get in the way of doing what is right for this country!!! Thank you for your help in defeating someone who will hurt what we all love and care about in America. I have a new respect for you all. We will fight it out in 2012 (Hillary vs. Palin perhaps) but I will think of you as fellow warriors and not enemies.
October 29, 2008 at 11:02 pm
Like most of us here, I have felt a deeply the need to do something in this election and to let people know we are here. I live in a relatively small average town in central Florida. I am Vet. like many Vet’s, I vote and often remain quite about my service in the comfort of knowledge I served our country with pride. This election has stoked a fire in me. I believe in America. That being said here’s the rest of the story(If I didn’t experience it I wouldn’t believe it, MSM has us trained):
Today I decided to go out an hold up a sign for McCain. I copied a sign from the McCain web site and added my own quote. “Mr. Obama You can Keep The Change, Our Freedom’s NOT FOR SALE” “Veterans For McCain / Palin”. While Standing near our City Court House at a busy intersection I held this sign. People honked and waved, while some teens gave me the “obama salute”. I’d estimate 60/40 pro-McCain. And while waving at traffic and keeping an eye on my car I noticed a car pull up and park. A lady and her son got out and walked toward me. She said she had no sign, as she was on her way to church, but asked if she could stand by me and wave. Pleasantly I said, “sure” We talked for a while and she told me that even though people had looked down on her for supporting McCain, she believed in America and that people needed to wake up. I had a wonderful conversation with her about America, the troops coming back from Iraq with pride, and while our economic times are tough we believe our nation will be strong again. You see… for that one moment in time, all political rhetoric stood still, it all faded. for I ,a White Man, was standing with a Black Woman, Proud of who we are and proud of the country we support.

Sharon go to http://www.pumaparty.com and ask. There maybe be someone there who knows where you can go. I post there all the time but I’m in Florida but I don’t know about PUMAS in your stae.
October 29, 2008 at 11:04 pm
It is interesting because I had noticed it myself, as well as my friends and had discussions about it. I live in MA and because of my job I have to drive a lot. I was struck by the abscence of OB signs. While the African American neighborhoods, the hacks/union houses, and the cars driven by 60s hippies are full of signs, there are not many signs for Obama. Similarly in NH, and in FL. The alleged enthusiasm does not appear to be real. It is also supported by the early voting in OH, as well as the early states where the numbers are pretty much equal among rep and dem.
October 29, 2008 at 11:08 pm
I am a conservative and was no fan of Hillary but she showed me something during the primaries. She cares more about the USA than Obama ever will. She was dissed by the MSM-Obama media. Now they are trying to do the same to Sarah. So I am with you now.
God Bless you PUMA Democrats. You are voting COUNTRY FIRST which means McCain/Palin. You are our secret weapon. The Obamunists are going down.
PUMAS + 1 Barracuda = Victory
October 29, 2008 at 11:10 pm
Like DR, I’m in Colorado, in the other Democrat stronghold (Pueblo). Every Dem prez candidate comes through our city; Obama was here in September.
But for the first time in modern history, the Republican nominee decided to visit. McCain drew an overflow crowd and I’ve never seen people so fired up.
Now, Pueblo always goes Democratic in presidential elections. Always. But the margin has been shrinking for the last several cycles.
Today we found out Obama is coming back Saturday – supposedly with the family in tow.
No one I’ve talked with, Dem or Repub, can figure out what the bleep he’s doing spending part of the home stretch in a place that should – should – be a lock.
My thought has been that McCain (actually, Palin) will make this the closest race our county has seen, but that Obama would still pull it out. Now I’m really wondering if that assumption is wrong.
Anybody have any credible insight??
October 29, 2008 at 11:12 pm
I love you folks here at Hillbuzz. I’m an independent from NY, and will be voting McCain as will many of my Dem friends. Have been speaking with others who don’t follow politics that much and turned them into Dems for McCain too. I think there are a lot lot lot of disaffected Hillary voters around here. Me especially. She came up state and I went to a dinner she held. Had our picture take together. One of my proudest posessions and more than anything I wanted it to be ‘me and the Prez’. Maybe next time. Keep up the great work you are doing on behalf of our great and beautiful country PUMA’s. I love you all. Miracle
October 29, 2008 at 11:13 pm
This IS an amazing site and I look forward to visiting it every day. It never fails to bring a smile to my face and inspire me to fight on! Leave it to a PUMA to pull a conservative up by the boot straps. I WISH Hillary was running against John McCain. At least then I would be getting some sleep at night knowing our country would be safe no matter what.
THANK YOU PUMAS FOR YOUR INSPIRATION AND YOUR SUPPORT. YOU WILL BE THE ONES TO PULL McPALIN ACROSS THE FINISH LINE AND YOUR VOICES WILL ROAR ALL THE WAY TO THE WHITE HOUSE!!! THEN WE’LL ALL FINALLY SHUT OBAMA UP.
October 29, 2008 at 11:13 pm
I used to live in Maine, and yes, I can definitely see the state going for McCain. Seems very plausible to me. New Hampshire even more so.
October 29, 2008 at 11:15 pm
I am in Columbus, Ohio. I am seeing a lot less Obama stickers than Kerry. The thing is that the Obama supporters are nuts. I have a friend that actually tatooted “yes we can” on her arm. Seriously. She has completely lost it. And she was a republican.
October 29, 2008 at 11:18 pm
I’m in Phillips Ranch, CA (Eastern LA County). This area tends to be a little more conservative than LA City and it’s direct suburbs. BUt in 2004 I saw Kerry-Edwards buper stickers and yard signs everywhere. I’d say the outnumber Bush-Cheney signs about 6-1. This barely any Obama signs or bumper stickers and more McCain-Palin signs than Bush signs four years ago.
With the lack of enthusiasim for Obama and Prop. 8 (no gay marriage) on the ballot which is expected to pass handily, I give McCain-Palin about a 30% chance of winning in CA, which is saying alot!
We shall see.
October 29, 2008 at 11:18 pm
I was in NH this past week-end, and the week-end before, and I can attest to the fact that there is a noticeable lack of Obama signs. I was in southern NH, the high-population area that delivered the state to Clinton in the primaries, as I predicted it would, despite the polls showing Obama up 8+ pts, and the pundits predicting an Obama landslide. I was telling everyone there was no way those polls would pan out. Clinton took the state by 5 pts I believe.
I firmly believe NH will go to McCain. He’s historically well-liked there, particularly with independents.
I grew up in Nashua. Live in MA now, and actually in my area – burbs 10 mi outside of Boston – don’t see many Obama signs/stickers either. I don’t hold out hope for a McCain upset in MA though – after all this is psychotic state that voted for McGovern and our flunky Governor Deval Patrick (Barry’s friend he plagiarizes his speeches from, and another Axelrod creation).
October 29, 2008 at 11:19 pm
Keith,
I’m in CT…
I’d be more than happy to drive up there and bring you some juice to wash those shorts down…
October 29, 2008 at 11:21 pm
Just talked to my sister who is a life long democrat. Her early vote was McCain/Palin. I told her, Feels good eh sister? She said yes yes yes!! Me being a life long republican we have had many many great talks.
I really do not understand how ANY common sense person can vote for Obama. If you were given 2 job applications with no names on them and asked to pick who is best for the job..Really people who would you hire!!
October 29, 2008 at 11:28 pm
What exactly is the caucus fraud that was committed? I am new to this site and love it. You PUMA’s are great! I am a life long conservative and after watching Hillary on Bill O’Reilly, I have to say that she impressed me and my husband. If only she were pro-life!!! But anyway, I really believe that Hillary was robbed. She needs to know that there isno vast right wing conspiracy, but there sure is a vast Left Wing Conspiracy. Wouldn’t it be great if Hillary and Sarah could come together as a team and get things done?
October 29, 2008 at 11:31 pm
I’ve seen cheap a-holes who make homemade bumper stickers. But I live in the Berkely of the Southeast. “Yes we can” not.
October 29, 2008 at 11:32 pm
Curb your enthusiasm here folks. I tuned in late tonight and just missed Obama raising an independent from the dead.
October 29, 2008 at 11:33 pm
Typical how the Obama stooges like “Kieth” and “me says” always rely on snarky ridicule, they never dispute the actual issues, just try to insult and demoralize those they disagree with. Apparently the Obama campaign made a mistake in only hiring immature people for this propaganda effort.
Though some are no doubt acting on their own as this is a common leftist tactic, it is also a common tactic among 5th graders.
This is a great site, I have learned that I didn’t understand Hillary supporters or their motives. Now I realize you are motivated by patriotism not partisan politics. The Obama team will soon get a harsh lesson. You folks are not voting against Obama or holding out, you are voting for McCain and Palin because you believe they will be better for us all.
October 29, 2008 at 11:33 pm
Thank you Hillbuzz. I am a conservative Christian, but I appreciate your love for this great country, and fighting spirit. I was appalled at the treatment Hillary got by the MSM, DNC and Obama camp in the primaries. I guess who everyone really is, is coming out into the light.
October 29, 2008 at 11:36 pm
Let’s all keep one thing in perspective with regards to the MSM and their appointing of “the one” to the throne: the MSM was in a tizzy when Palin was selected to run for VP because the same MSM didn’t have a freakin’ clue that she was even in the running. She wasn’t an insider, and she wasn’t an elitest. And that ticked them off to no end… The end result, the MSM was WRONG.
Fast forward to today: the MSM is trying to shove down our collective throats that Obama will win in a virtual landslide. Considering the MSM’s track record of being WRONG, I’m now even more convinced that McCain/Palin are about to pull this off.
October 29, 2008 at 11:37 pm
gingersnaps,

October 29, 2008 at 11:38 pm
I live in Maine. There are plenty of Obama signs (as unscientific as sign-polling is) in my area, the populated area of the state, more than McCain. Sorry.
October 29, 2008 at 11:40 pm
I live in Southern California, in a very leftist area near a university. I cross through Whole Foods parking lot nearly everyday on my way to a Starbucks. In 2004 the parking lot was plastered with Kerry/Edwards bumper stickers. And people were parading around with…well you know the drill.
But now, incredibly, there are almost NO Obama stickers anywhere to be found. I have looked for them everyday for the past four months. Over this span there has been no change, just the same very small, almost negligible number. Maybe 3 cars out of 200.
Very Weird.
October 29, 2008 at 11:40 pm
First post.
1) Reagan Republican, and I have gained respect for the moderate wing of the Democrat Party (already had respect, just increased it) because of the PUMA blogs. You guys (women mostly, I guess) are great. I hate far-left socialists with a passion, but I realize it’s only about 49% of the D party (the 49% that voted for That One).
2) This blog is beautifully written. As someone who writes on the side for extra money, I appreciate it.
3) Is anyone hitting Obama on the Socialist plan to confiscate 401K money, park it in SS, limit it to a 3% return, and take away the tax break? Technically, it’s not Obuma’s plan, but it is in the works, and does anyone really think he’d veto it? (The tax break on 401Ks going away would be a net $1500 loss for an $80K income. So much for tax cuts to 95% of Americans, huh?)
This one issue would do a lot to influence white, suburban, middle+ class people that aren’t generally hard-core liberals.
4) Sharon in MI: are people in MI hitting Obama on Card Check? It seems to this out-of-touch conservative :) that labor types would reject the idea of their secret ballot taken away, even if they are pro-union. We know why the union leaders support Obama, but I wonder how that translates to the rank-and-file.
Props to PUMAs.

as i noted on my blog earlier tonight at:
gocalifornia.blogspot.com
* more than 40,000 members have joined teamsarah.org
* if you tune in to MSNBC, you would think the election is already over
* finally, if obama has nothing to hide, why not encourage the LA Times to release the video of his dinner back in 2003 with a number of folks in chicago, including rashid khalidi?
hopefully we’ll see another dewey beats truman this tuesday night….only mc cain will be playing the role of truman wednesday morning.

Interesting thread. Don’t know what it may mean that Obama is charging for signs and stickers. I live in Wisconsin and don’t expect it to go otherwise than Obama, though I think Minnesota is up in the air. (Franken reinforces concerns, okay, fear of Obama, I think.)
I’m a life-liberty-property right-of-RINO guy. I don’t know what could have happened to NH, if they didn’t go McCain. NH loves McCain.
If America’s youth only knew the Obama plans for their being pushed into radical education and the “civilian national security force.” Is that another term for Commissar? (One of the post-crisis, “unpopular” moves that Biden was talking about?”
Pray and keep working, “my friends.”

Hey PUMAs and Hillocrats, I visit this site often…but Maine?
I know there is a county there that is contested, but otherwise how would this work?
I know the polls are garbage, etc…but the polls in Maine are not even remotely in the vicinity.
Being confident is great, but overly optimistic will just set us up for dissapointment.

October 30, 2008 at 12:15 am
Random, I think the Bush-Kerry polls were skewed in part due to union households getting calls and not knowing whether the union wasn’t actually polling.
That, plus the union election issue (helped by McGovern!) has to be a significant factor, along with the Hillary-PUMA’s. HAS TO BE. Unbelievable that it wouldn’t be. Also, national security for these union households that get those poll calls.
October 30, 2008 at 12:18 am
Rebecca writes “Personally, I don’t see why he and Gov Palin aren’t back in Colorado and Nevada! Hold FL, OH, NC, VA, OH, MO, NV and CO and you win the election.”
Rebecca, McCain would have to get a lead in those states before you can talk about holding them. CO and VA are out of reach for McCain. While any of the others are still a possibility, I honestly don’t believe he is going to get any of them. And you can add IN to that list.
In an unrelated matter, if you pick all six numbers you can win the lottery.
Thanks for all the offers on making my shorts more palatable but I don’t think I have much to worry about.
Hope trumps fear this time.

Sharon in Michigan. Check out
http://www.stopobamaexpress.com. They were just in Michigan on a “stop Obama” tour. So, they could probably give you some contacts as well as some current on-the-ground info. I truly hope that your 200 votes for McCain are multiplied all across the state. Between the DNC controversy during the primaries, coupled with the low ratings for the governor and Detroit’s former mayor, I don’t know why anyone would vote for yet another Democrat. I think that Governor Palin’s record, coupled with her appeal to outdoor sports enthusiasts would go over very well in Michigan. Hopefully the residents there aren’t too upset that McCain had to pull out and won’t take it out on him come November 4th.
Fingers crossed that MI will go red on Tuesday!
October 30, 2008 at 12:30 am
I can’t believe that a campaign that raised $600 million would charge for campaign signs. How cheap is that?
October 30, 2008 at 12:36 am
#85 – Check out Dr. Lynette Long’s Website she explains all of the caucus fraud. It explains that through intimadation, voter suppression and busing people from other states that Obama stole 13 out of 14 caucuses from Hillary Clinton.
October 30, 2008 at 12:38 am
I am a fiscally conservative-socially libertarian Independent. I agree with Republicans about the need to limit the growth of government (although they did a crappy job when they had a chance), but I agree with Democrats on social issues like gay marriage and abortion.
I always vote Republican because I believe limiting the growth of government is more important than the social issues are. However, I wish Hillary was on the ballot instead of Obama, because while Hillary would have moved the country a little left, Obama will almost certainly turn left and keep going as long and as far as he can.
October 30, 2008 at 12:55 am
I live in the Redmond area of Seattle and, unfortunately, there’s no way that McCain will win this state. Most of WA is McCain country, especially east of the Cascades, but Seattle dominates the state and is just way too blue for McCain to have a legit shot here. I do think that Dino Rossi will win in the governor’s race, though.
There is a strange absence of Obama signs around here, though, which is odd since this area was infested with Kerry signs and bumper stickers in 2004.

“CO and VA are out of reach for McCain.”
This sounds like Pelosi and Dean saying: “Give up Hillary. We want you to give up. We don’t care about the voters. They don’t matter.”
Nice try! McCain/Palin is taking PA and VA enroute to the white house.
October 30, 2008 at 1:35 am
Good news. Makes sense. I would have liked to know just how the frauds worked in Iowa and other caucus states. Would have been instructive.

well it’s fun reading all these anecdotals so I’ll I’ll add mine to the mix. I drove thru Delaware last week on the way back from the beach to DC and I went thru some towns, Bridgeville, Milton,Geogretowne and saw many Dem lawn signs, the most prevalant being “Our Joe 08″, no need to say who they’re talking about but oddly not one sign with Obama/Biden. Drove by two Dem county headquaters, again every sign from County Clerk to Senate, not one with the DEm p/VP Ticket.

October 30, 2008 at 7:09 am
I’m a Republican who lives and works in Southern Maine and I think it extremely improbable that McCain can take all 4 EVs. Southern Maine has become increasingly liberal in the last 10-20 years due to the influx of Mass and NY expatriots who have moved into the state. The latest statewide poll (out yesterday) has Obama up 19! That number is assuredly high, but I think it must put the 1st district comfortably in Obama’s camp. Having said that though, I can say I have observed more McCain signs in just the last 2 weeks – they are now on a par with the Obama signs – and it was surprising enough for me to remark on it to my wife. You didn’t see that with Kerry and Bush in 2004. It was all Kerry.
I do think McCain has a real shot at the 2nd district’s 1 EV however. In fact, I heard this morning that McCain is making a campaign stop in Maine again before the election, so the McCain campaign must think they have a shot at it.
As for early voting: my opinion is that fewer Republicans than Democrats take advantage of early voting – believing in the tradition of actually going to the polls on election day. So, that McCain seems to be holding his own in early voting is, I think, a positive sign for him.

The definition of a shocker is something that is surprising but it also happens to have to be true. Like most of your blog, this is fantasy and anecdotal baloney from the biggest wishful thinkers in the USA. The election is over and some of you are smart enough to know it. I don’t care what your wife’s cousin’s dentist in Broward saw on his way to early vote.

Another conservative Republican here who loves HillBuzz. Thank you, PUMAs, for your loyalty, enthusiasm, optimism, dedication and hard work. I come here every day to be cheered up! Regardless of the outcome – and I think McCain/Palin will win – we owe you a huge debt. Thank you for bringing REAL unity and REAL hope to this election. You are magnificent.
October 30, 2008 at 8:24 am
I am from Ohio…..The reports that more registered Democrats have voted early/absentee than registered Republicans at this point is probably true. However, in Ohio, Republicans have a strong ground game with absentee ballots, so I expect that by election day, the Dems will only have a small advantage here. My wife and I, my sister-in law and her husband, and my mon and dad all have the following in commom-6 registered Democrats, all six early voters, and all six for McCain/Palin. I expect there are many more like us!!

Wherever we each stand spiritually, it is IMPERATIVE that we do no give power to a force that is so manipulative, deceitful and corrupt.
We MUST remember that what we fight for trumps over the negativity (no matter how influential it may appear)that Obama is peddling.
I trust in the McCain/Palin ticket. I trust that a force greater than any of us is guiding this process. Therefore, let us lean on what is good, because in doing so, we will draw to us the same.
Peace to every one of you!

Life-long conservative…recent lurker on Hillbuzz. I’ve gotta tell you, as much as I disagree with Hillary’s policies, her treatment from the Annointed One, the sexist coverage of her from the MSM, and the grit and determination she showed combined with the yoeman’s work that is being done on behalf of McPalin by you PUMAs, has given me great respect for her and for you folks.
Next Tuesday will tell us if the polls are totally whacked, or whether they are accurate, but I will never view Hillary or her supporters the same way again. Thanks for your love of country…and your tireless efforts. Hillary has shown great class in not joining in on the ‘bash Sarah’ bandwagon in the MSM and the Democrat party. I never thought that the first website I visit every morning after RedState would be a Hillary website. You never fail to buck me up when I am wavering.
Wouldn’t Sarah vs Hillary be a wonderful breath of fresh air to our political system.
October 30, 2008 at 8:42 am
PUMAs, I never thought I’d respect Democrats. Seriously. First, during the primaries, I learned to respect Hillary Clinton’s grit, toughness, endurance, and grace. I don’t agree with her politics not one bit, but she went from somebody I disliked to someone I respected. Now, you all, by choosing country over party have given me a rock solid respect for this wing of the Democrat party. Yes, I understand that if Hillary runs against Palin in 2012 y’all will be there for Hillary and the fight will be on. That doesn’t change my admiration though. Confronted with a radical socialist thug, y’all chose America. I can’t thank you PUMAs enough.

I live in NH–a traditionally liberal area of the state–and I’ve been saying all along that I was surprised at how few Obama-Biden signs there are compared to how many McCain-Palin signs there are. This is very, very unusual.
I’m not sure what to believe, but let’s just say I’m optimistic that NH will go for McCain. NH relies on small business for sure, and we hate taxes, so I’d be shocked if all this talk of socialism hasn’t had a huge negative impact for Obama.
As far as ME goes, I’d be surprised if it goes for McCain, but you never know. I will say that last weekend I took a ride up through a few of the coastal Maine towns and noticed the same thing…very, very few Obama signs in yards. There were quite a few in public areas where all the campaigns put signs–but very few in people’s yards. Again, this isn’t typical.
October 30, 2008 at 8:54 am
#115,
Absolutely right. I watched all Rep and Dem primaries last year and since I’m independent, welcomed all their viewpoints. I was disgusted with how Hillary was treated. As a woman, even though I was not necessarily a strong Hillary fan/voter, I rooted for her to stand strong against the media and her own party! I noticed the unfairness, and as an AMERICAN (not just as a ‘woman’), I was outraged.
When Obama won, I knew without a doubt that I would pick anyone else but him, or sit it out.
You’re right, I know everyone is working so hard to keep this from happening. We will win these states!
October 30, 2008 at 9:32 am
The illegal and Alinsky style tactics of the Obama campaign from beginning to now and the extra three months he had to do battle with Hillary Clinton have demanded more exposure than he had planned. His constantly changing what he said and will do and his grave error of telling Joe the Plumber he wants to spread, redistribute the wealth will defeat this radical socialist fraud on November 4. Americans get out there and vote. This lifelong Democrat and former Hillary Rapid Responder
will vote McCain/Palin for the absolute safety of our country against the greatest threat to its existence and the natur of this Republic since December 7, 1941: Barack Hussein Obama…He must be defeated!
October 30, 2008 at 9:37 am
Thank you Hillbuzz for putting Country First!
I live in Colorado and grew up in Iowa. I finally had a conversation last night with my mom (my grandfather is ill and have not wanted to bring up politics). She truly was undecided! And she brought up every single “MSM” talking point! After I shot every one of them down…….and offered the positives of McCain Palin…..she finally said……”That is what every one else around me has been saying too”. So, Iowa is McCain’s!
And as for Colorado, people forget that it is only Denver metro and Boulder that is blue…….the rest of the state is very red and McCain will win here also.
October 30, 2008 at 10:06 am
You people are putting way too much hope into lawn signs. But I guess it is understandable when you consider you don’t have much else to pin your hopes on. The right tends to be more obstinate and opinionated so more apt to stick up those in-your-face lawn signs. Personally I would never put one up, and I especially wouldn’t put one up in such a polarized election.

I used to have a recurring dream during the primaries. I kept dreaming that Hillary was bobbing up & down on the ocean and a huge ship would come by and the wake would drown her… then she’d bob up again. It’s not that I’d see Obama on the ship or anything, but of course, I realized that’s what the ship represented.
My point is that Hillary kept coming to the surface no matter how many times she got dunked. That’s what you do when you know you’re right and your cause is just. It’s what McCain/Palin do AND IT’S WHAT WE DO!
Obama & his trolls keep trying to drown us with overwhelming fraud & thuggery and we WON’T STAY DOWN!
October 30, 2008 at 11:51 am
Hi, I am in a college town in NH. I have lived through two close elections–both of which seemed like a (Gore then Kerry) landslide-waiting-to-happen due to my pro-liberal surroundings. This election, however, I have noted on several occasions to my husband that there are very few Obama signs–maybe even more McCain signs in our area. There are even a few Hillary signs still out there! I remain hopeful due to this.
October 30, 2008 at 12:15 pm
Ok, I must amend my comment from yesterday about lack of McCain signs on my way to work.
Today on my way to work, I saw DOZENS of McCain signs OVERNIGHT! And yet no more Obama signs. Wait, one yard had both a McCain and Obama sign. :-)
How weird is that?
October 30, 2008 at 12:17 pm
Thanks for your outstanding work PUMAS! Keep it up, this fight has not even really begun yet. WE can still pull it out and put our country first on Tuesday. Keep working!!

Conservative,Iraq War Vet. here and can tell you I have seen the MSM bias first hand from the reporting on the war.The polls are over sampling Dems. That is not the only problem with the internals of the polls.I think it is not as close as we are being led to believe.I am in upstate NY and work for a Highway Dept.(union)I am surprised at how many here are not voting for the one.Maybe they are getting tired of me jawboning them. Have turned some around though.

After the last presidential debate, I saw more McCain signs in Des Moines and burbs than I’d ever seen. I think what McCain brought up during that debate really woke some voters up here.
I spoke with a friend of mine here whose entire family are Democrats. She said they’re leaning towards McCain because they don’t like where Obama is trying to lead our country.
I’d be curious to know if you or any other commentors here have any stats on voting McCain or Obama based on religious affiliation? Christian (with a breakdown by denomination), Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, etc.
October 30, 2008 at 12:45 pm
I’m in Northern Mass, on the NH border, and I’m seeing the same thing in my area. NO enthusiasm for Obama.
I’ve tried counting Obama signs vs. McCain signs. Every time I’ve tried this, I count twice as many McCain signs as Obama signs. This is in a county that has been blue every election since Reagan.
With the Dems I’ve talked to, or my friends have talked to, most of them are not enthusiastic about Obama.
October 30, 2008 at 12:52 pm
As a republican, I didn’t pay much attention to all the nastiness the Obama camp heaped on Hillary during the primaries but I’m thrilled to see that so many of you see him for who he is and have rejected him and the party he represents. John McCain will make a wonderful president as he’s a man of honor.
October 30, 2008 at 12:54 pm
freakzilla,
I’m in Washington state about 40 miles north of Seattle and you don’t see many Obama signs or bumper stickers around. In fact, other than a sign for Dino Rossi and a judge, I don’t think there are any signs in our neighborhood.
October 30, 2008 at 12:54 pm
In regards to the excuse that Obama is charging $5. for a yard sign and that is the reason that there are not as many signs on laws. (let’s not bother discussing the irony of charging the poor and working class supporters for the signs). I cannot believe that Obama can pull in record amounts of millions of dollars and suddenly his supporters can’t come up with a fin for a yard sign? Doesn’t add up to me.

I hope and pray that every person in New Hampshire remembers the comment David Axelrod made when Hillary Clinton won the primary. He said and I quote because I will never forget this and it was, according to a study by Princeton University, ” The voters of New Hampshire went in to the booth and pulled the curtain behind them and voted against the ‘black man’.”
In my view, the people of New Hampshire-long known to be thoughtful and hardworking honest ‘folks’-voted for the most qualified person.
Hooray for all of them for standing up to the threats of riots, being called racists, lies and intimidation that has spewed forth from every corner of the country supposedly to make us aware of the power of Barack Obama. NH dem Rep. Hector Velez: “I am crossing party lines to vote for John McCain”- that’s the title of his editorial in the New Hampshire Union Leader. It’s a good read! Rep. Velez hits on the many reasons why as a former Hillary supporter, he believes McCain is a better choice than Obama. If a democratic rep in NH goes on the record to endorse McCain a week before the election, you sure as heck know it’s a sign many other New Hampshire democrats are leaning that way too.

I am another upstate NY lifelong Democrat who is going to vote for McCain-Palin. The conflicting anecdotal information and polling information blows one’s mind. Incidentally, I was in Massachusetts early this summer and went to two house parties. I couldn’t find an Obama supporter at either party and I polled almost everyone there. That’s in the Democrat heartland. I find Sarah Palin to be a breath of fresh air.
October 30, 2008 at 1:52 pm
Thank you
This site made my day! (Heard you on Rush)
I wonder what will happen to the Democrat party after this election when Senator Obama loses. How could so many people back this man?
The Democrats have given this race away. With Bush’s numbers so low & with the problems in the economy this should be a landslide!
What happened to the party of JFK?
The only person I like in this race is Sara Palin. I know she is not the best-qualified person but we NEVER get the most qualified person.
I believe most Americans want the same things.
Smaller Government & lower taxes.
In 1950 the average American Family paid less than %6 of their total income in taxes. In 2007 the average American Family paid more than %44 of their total income in taxes. The government taxes EVERYING, just look at you phone bills.
Just one example
Everyone is to be hammering ExxonMobil on the profits they generate.
Their profit margin is less than 10% and they pay more in taxes than they generate in profit! Now who are the greedy ones? In 2007 ExxonMobil paid more taxes than the bottom 50% of ALL us taxpayers. 50% of American’s own stocks in this country. Those profits support many American’s 401K’s.
If you increase the amount the government takes from oil companies how will that help gas prices or peoples 401K. Remember the government also takes more money at the pump when buy gas!
http://www.exxonmobil.com/corporate/energy_issues_taxes.aspx
At no time in history has increasing taxes on Capitol & business helped the economy.
In the last 8 years tax revenues have increased by 800 BILLION dollars. Unfortunately, both parties helped to spend that PLUS an additional 700 Billion Dollars.
Senator Obama wants us to send our hard earned money to Washington so 95% of Americans can get a tax break but remember 35% of American’s DO NOT PAY ANY federal income taxes and 20% get money back they never paid.
Senator Obama’s Aunt lives in a slum and his brother lives on $12 a year. Shouldn’t he at least flip them a $100 to help them out?
In the last 10 years Joe Biden made more than 2 Million dollars and gave only $3,600 to Charity!
We want Leadership!
If we were to take Senator Obama at his word and ASSUME that all these radicals are not his friends then who are Senator Obama’s real friends? Name one? Just one from his days in Chicago, at Harvard, Columbia, Occidental Collage, Hawaii.
Why is no one, and I mean no one, outside of Washington standing by his side, standing up for him?
A person is always judged by the company they keep!
Again, thank you for this great site and your positive attitude!

First I must state a fact. I am not an Obama troll. I only heard about this site today while listening to Rush Limbaugh on the radio. I have voted Democrat for as long as I’ve been able to vote. I voted for Bill Clinton both times, Gore, and then Kerry. I had planned to vote for Hillary this year as I (like most of you) figured she would win the nomination. When she did not I through my support behind Obama. I understand that some folks don’t agree with Obama’s policy stances but he is a Democrat and I trust that he will do what is right by the country and the party.
At this point I must state another fact. I am an African American male. I really can’t believe that fellow Democrats are so upset with Hillary not winning the nomination that they would vote for the “other” team. I do not agree with everything that Obama says however I’m going with the Democratic ticket. If he loses this election and Hillary wins the nomination in 2012 then I will vote for her at that time BUT there will be a lot of folks who will remember the Hillary folks who couldn’t get over it. If a large section of Obama voters do the same thing in 2012 that Hillary voters are doing now then GOD help the Democrats because the Republicans and Rush Limbaugh will once again get the last laugh (2000,2004).

Hillary is hated by too many in the Republican party to be an effective President, especially if it came at the expense of Palin.
No – Hillary needs to stay in the Senate and work with a Republican White House to fix our ills. This isn’t going to be an overnight fix, and the best thing Hillary can do is to become McCain/Palin’s Tip O’Neill. We need a strong Democrat leading the Senate, and Hillary has, after Obama loses, a real chance at being that person.
October 30, 2008 at 2:14 pm
I am a proud conservative from the Clinton’s home state of Arkansas. I heard of this site on Limbaugh today – (that’s just how conservative! HA!) It’s VERY encouraging to read the posts and hear of what I had hoped was going on across this country…people laying aside party affiliation and looking at the man who will lead this country. Economy, domestic and foreign policy aside, Which man loves this country enough that he was/is willing to die for it? There’s only one choice…one man that can be trusted to put country above self, and only one man to chose from who has proven that point his entire life. I have had a “quiet” feeling over the last three weeks that this election could turn out to be a McCain landslide and leave Obama and the MSM standing scratching their heads. I have yet to share that feeling with anyone, but I hope and PRAY that on Nov 5 I’m “quitely” telling myself “I told you so!”.

Drove through NH last weekend (live in MA). I traveled up the east side of state bordering Maine to the Mountain region. I saw about a 10:1 ratio in McCain/Palin signs to Obama/Biden signs. Now a lot of these signs were near small businesses on a main road. That attests to the fear a lot of small businesses have in this area you wrote about, after all, this is their livelyhood. There are not a lot of other employment opportunities outside small businesses in NH and ME.

I am a GA “dixiecrat” I know it’s old fashioned but here I am. Yeah-I won’t be voting for Obama either although since I live in a hostile area of Georgia , so I hesitate to put a Mccain sign out front lest my house or truck get razed. Look I have four brothers and sisters and my spouse has four brothers and sisters, we are all married with grown kids of our own and some of our kids have kids too. There is only one person in our entire extended family voting for Obama . She’s a die hard liberal. Two thirds of us are dems and the rest of us are repubs. That’s a hell of a lot of people. We had two eyores but managed to turn them with the truth about Obama. About twenty of us live in Colorado, some in CA. some in AZ. Obama lost 20 votes in Colorado because of his tax plans and reditribution of wealth. Do yourself a favor and don’t tell farmers that because they gross $250,000 that you consider them rich. Only about one fourth of that is realized after paying for the next years crops and equipment and so forth. They have migrant workers who lie down the road, who are here illegally with very large families. MADA gives handouts to these people, but getting food stamps if you are white isn’t quite so easy. Co. farmers are livid about having to subsidize lasy yet capable people who don’t work by choice and still collect a government check. The extra taxes they have to pay, could’ve gone towards more environmentally concious measures or new equipment, but instead it goes to buy pepsi and beer and cigarettes for do nothings who haven’t earned it. I watched the “infomercial last night just to see what the messiah was up to now. The lady with the large family looked-ummm-well fed to me. I also noticed soda on the table and believe she had acrylic nails on. Call me simple minded, but to a thinking man, if I had a hard time buying milk which runs about $4 a gallon, buying even more expensive soda @$7 a case would be bad budgeting. Throw in the cost of upkeep on them nails at about $40-60 a month and we might begin to see where her money is going.Iced tea is cheap to make, a box of tea bags makes about ten pitchers and only costs about $2. That makes it .20 a pitcher. When I was a kid and times were tight, my mama popped popcorn or made oatmeal raisin cookies for snacks, again cheap. Personal responsibilty needs to come into account somewhere here. Fresh fruit isn’t expensive-pre packaged foods are. Sandwiches aren’t expensive-lunchables and bagel bites are. potato chips don’t have to be Lays or Doritos. less costly alternatives are available. When my kids were younger I gave them $25 for two weeks to come up with snacks for themselves. We all went shopping together and they learned real quick to bargain shop and clip coupons. Soda is bad for you and went bye bye. They budgeted carefully and were able to get good deals that since they bought they made last. It also taught them about how to handle money and budget correctly. Parents need to set examples for their kids, once again personal responsibilty is necessary.

Am seeing something like 15-1 to 10-1 signage here in Middle Tennessee. McPalin are doing very well which is to be expected in this state, but gratifying. And I do think there is less Obama signs than previous Dem contenders had.
I’m a pretty hard-core Republican, and so I’d like to reccommend our governor for Hillary’s attention in the 2012 VP slot–Bredesen, like Palin, is very popular in his state. He’s a Dem, and he got my vote twice (It helped that the first time was against an R who was pretty bad). I crossed over for Bredesen, and I’m glad I did. I’m glad to see ya’ll doing likewise.
This is my first visit here, and I have to say I’m favorably impressed by the professionalism, organizational skill, enthusiasm, and good humored work behind this site. I think we conservatives might have something to learn from you Pumas.

In many towns in southern NH, McPain Palin signs outnumber Barry Hussein Obama signs (12 to 1).
Despite MA liberals moving to NH, NH still retains a strong libertarian streak (small govt, no income or sales tax and gun owners). McCain Palin is appealing to NH voters.

Hi Folks –
This is the first time I have been on your site and I really like the level-headed discussion that is happening. I will have to start off my comments by stating that I am a conservative who lives in the United Socialist Republic of Madison, WI. However I was born and raised in Eastern Iowa, I have family that lives in Washington state and my husband works in Chicago.
First my thoughts on Iowa – McCain’s stance on ethanol will hurt him a bit but there is one huge issue that will hurt Obama even more – he is from Chicago. To many Eastern Iowans, there is the belief that the cause of the problems result directly from Chicago politicians and activists coming in to towns and working to change what is a relatively sleepy area into Chicago-lite. The political fraud that has been tried in a mostly economically depressed, gang-riddled area has stifled moderate voices along the Mississippi River valley. Even if the larger cities go for B.O., most of the small cities and towns will not. They are too wary and hip to what Chicago politicians are up to.
In the Olympic Peninsula, support (from what I hear) is going to McCain. B.O. has been too arrogant and showed his true colors to Joe the Plumber that many are not voting for him. It is a very hard-scrabble, blue-collar area of people who value independence too much to vote for a true socialist.
In Chicago, B.O is not as loved as many in the MSM make him out to be. Very few signs/stickers/buttons are seen about except in areas where the support is rabid – along the lines of Rev. Wright. When push comes to shove, the liberals may vote for B.O. but it is because the conservatives have failed to make a case for McCain in the area.
Here in Madison, of course there is so much verbal support for B.O. from academics and students – but what can you expect from a university that loved having 9/11 conspirators on the payroll? I see LOTS of bumper stickers although not as many yard signs as I would have thought. Lots of Kool-Aid drinkers. Unfortunately I have also been hearing a lot of talk about riots, beatings, and other scary things from B.O. supporters, if he should lose.
Just my tiny conservative 2 cents.

The real shocker is that anybody believes that this is a legit site.

I’m in Polk County Iowa, where Des Moines is. It’s heavily Democratic county. In the urban areas, the city, I see more Obama signs, probably 2/3 to 1/3, actually very few signs at all in town, but that’s what I do see. In the country, McCain signs 2/3 to 1/3 Obama. But that’s typical Iowa – urban is more Democrat leaning, rural is more Republican leaning, with Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, Ames, being college towns more Democratic.
OK, here’s the breakdown – in most districts here the early voting (same ballot as the absentee, you just request it on the spot for early voting) it’s breaking down from 800 to 2,000 more ballots cast by Democrats than Republicans. In the urban districts around Des Moines (this is Iowa congressional districts for the Iowa House because the radio personality was using these figures to track local congress) anyway, it’s like 3/4 Democrat to 1/4 Republican! So 3 out of every 4 early ballot cast was by a registered Democrat.
Sorry, Iowa is going to go Obama, and I feel bad about it as my wife was SO disappointed to see it STOLEN from Hillary last January. We are both Republican, but she was so fed up with Bush, and wants a woman in the white house SO bad……… I supported her, but said I’d vote for the Republican most likely. Well, when I saw what was happening and the IRREGULARITIES even being reported here on the LOCAL NEWS, I was livid!
I just can’t see with the early ballot tallies breaking SO heavy Democratic and the fact that Polk County and the urban areas will go for Obama, I can’t see a McCain win here.
Now here’s the thing – I’m a skeptic and a cynic. My boys used to say I was Garfield the cat……….. I simply don’t believe there are enough “PUMAs” to help. I suspect there are a vocal FEW, but that the blogs and forums have been infiltrated by Republican trolls and those “posing” as Pumas, even Democrats posing as Pumas to throw us off.
Sorry, no offense, but that’s my FEAR.
If I’m wrong, well, either way, from these forums and blogs run by “PUMAs” and ex-Hillary folks, I’ve gained a totally new respect for Ms. Clinton as well as moderate Democrats. You’ve all been so SMART, energetic, and NICE, I’m going to have to change how I think and talk about Democrats for the rest of my life! You so OBVIOUSLY put country first – before yourselves even.
I love you people and can now say, I’d not mind meeting Hillary in person.

Go Pumas!
October 30, 2008 at 10:30 pm
It will be SOOO great to see the faces of the biased, pro-obama stooges on MSNBC, et al., when McCain/Palin wins! Thank you PUMAS for putting your country first. -Together we will win this. I am a Republican in Florida and would be willing to bet McCain/Palin will win here. I am seeing more anti-Obama ads on television (including ads by private groups) as I type this…not seeing nearly as many Obama stickers as I saw Kerry/Edwards stickers in ‘04- and Bush won the state by nearly 400,000 votes. I know it’s anecdotal evidence, but I really believe there is a silent majority that will roar (PUMAS ;) on November 4th.

Colorado. College neighborhood. Signs very sparse until yesterday. Now overnight all the bigger mansions in the “better area” and a lot of the downtown businesses have Obama signs. Sudden late support? Perhaps. My suspicion though is “insurance policy.” True supporters had signs up long ago.
I think they’re trying to prevent being burned/attacked election night when the one loses. Given that my local GOP told me that McCain/Palin signs have got vandalized/stolen like never before this makes a certain sense.
Us? Yeah, we’ve thought of insurance too. We’re loading our guns and having a friend come over so one of us can stay up/keep watch. No way am I putting one of those signs on our yard.

I PRAY to God that your sources are right and that McCain will win NH, ME, and IA. This post on You Tube exemplifies how delusional many Americans are when it comes to what they expect to receive under an Obama administration. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. It’s only 24 seconds, but definitely a “must see”! Maybe the moderator can even make a new thread out of it?
October 31, 2008 at 3:03 am
Well, I’ll throw my comments out here, too. I live in NYC, am fiscally conservative, have always loved our military and our flag (I guess that’s the Eagle Scout in me), started voting Republican with Mayor Giuliani (after the black Mayor Dinkins was such a fiasco), have never voted for Hillary (and never will; like Dems tired of Bushes in the WH, I’m tired of Clintons in Washington), but I must say that Sen. Clinton didn’t quit when the chips (polls) were down, and as someone commented, us conservative types hate quitters. So Sen. Clinton did earn my very grudging respect during the primaries. That all said, thanks to all you PUMAs for caring more for this Noble Experiment than the skin color of a crypto-Marxist who can’t even call himself a socialist, nor allow anyone else to call him one. I am ashamed of the education system in this country when a cult-of-personality candidate actually has a chance to win the Presidency, instead of having the campaign of such a narcissist laughed off the stage.
Also, I see Axelrod’s Astroturfing Shop is open for business. ‘Keith’ notes: “The right tends to be more obstinate and opinionated so more apt to stick up those in-your-face lawn signs.”
Hey, Keith, when you took that Astroturfing course at Axelrod’s knee, did they teach you to lie, too? I guess they did when you throw out such a laughable canard. Remember, it is progressives with tiny minds who like to key cars with opposition bumper stickers. And what about Barry’s ‘get in their face’ statement? Sounds like you have the same disease as most progressives have: Projection.
Keep up the good work here and vote for Sen. McCain, a known entity with a known past (and not ashamed to hide it), and Gov. Palin. Thanks again all.

For the 2012 showdown between Sarah and Hillary, is there a way the PUMA group can “identify” themselves so us repubs can show the respect you deserve?
…and thanx from all Americans to you for being individuals with America in your hearts.

i live in illinois, cook co. we have early voting going on here at our city hall. i walked in today and saw it was packed. this is a depressed town i live in. i noticed that of the 150 people there, i was one of the only five white people there(including the 2 white cops.) this got me to thinking, illinois is lost, we know this, the black vote is coming out. but i know alot of white dems that are angry with obama and have told me they arent voting or may show up to vote mccaine, especially mexican and white women. maybe, just maybe, obamas treatment of hillary shot these peoples hopes in the heart.look, i dont agree with hillary, but you cant be blatantly disrespectful towards her followers and expect them to link on to you. i think we all would agree that the press has gone overboard in its unfair, biased coverage and full support of obama in the primary against hillary and now against mccaine. thier treatment of palin is unforgivable. this has to be the presses problem supporting a woman. even if you are a democrat, do you honestly believe in your heart that palin is evil? i am voting mccaine/palin not only because i support them but also because we the citezen/t.v veiwers must reign in this out of control press( i mean you msnbc, cnn, abc) get out and vote!

I for one will be less “I disagree, you are crazy” and more like “tell me why you think that is so and we’ll talk”.
These folks are really intelligent and logical. Not the screaming zombies on the extreme side. They make me INSTANTLY defensive, I hate cheating, theft, lying, screaming, “talking points” etc. – but anyone who comes at me with logic, I’ll be happy to talk to!
Besides, all the tests I take on the web indicate I’m not as far right as I thought…. I believe in rules, safeguards and some regulation to keep things “honest” and give everyone a fair chance.
The primaries were far from fair, and rules were disregarded. Just ask the folks in charge of the caucuses here in Iowa – they saw it. Changed times, changed locations, cheating of all sorts. It was a MESS here. It was obvious even to this guy, Hillary got a royal ripping here in Iowa, no doubt. In a FAIR fight, that lady would have WON.
I support PUMAS – take your party back!

October 31, 2008 at 9:26 pm
I’m in Texas and I have no doubt McCain will take Texas in a very big way, however, if we’re comparing signage to 2004, I see lots more Obama signs than I ever saw for Kerry.
My office is about evenly divided between the two candidates. We’ve even had to put a moratorium on political discussion. I’m hoping to see the looks of shock and awe on the faces of the Obama supporters on 11/5.

hey left, you know this is a legit site and the funny thing is–your terrified. I love seeing socialist sweat in fear.

In an election, it is a bit hard at times to tell when someone is hoping vs what is really going on. As someone who got caught up in the Ron Paul campaign bubble, I know how easy it is to get detached from reality. You talk yourself into believing things are happening that aren’t, and you rationalize your beliefs around fear if it doesn’t work out.

A few thoughts come to mind as I read this Web site
- As a McPalin supporter very concerned about the alternative, this site is a breath of fresh air. I find comfort that if the unthinkable, from my perspective, happens, I will not be alone.
- Whether or not you are for Obama or McCain,
isn’t the exchange of perspectives on this site evidence that we have precious freedom in this country none of us, liberal, moderate or conservative, would want to lose?
- Regardless of who wins, I believe we are in for unrest, no doubt inflamed by either the glee or the bitterness of the MSM.
Now, here is where I alienate everyone and lose everyone’s interest. I’m one of ‘them’, a Phillies fan who enjoyed the parade today. Not gloating, for we know very well in Philly that this moment is but one drop of water in an otherwise miserable and parched desert. I am also aware that most of America would rather watch the paint dry then to watch a Philly sports team.
However, I was standing in the street with my teens, in a huge crowd around City Hall, and there was no bickering about politics. There were some guys next to me who were Obama supporters but we were all laughing and enjoying hitting around beach balls and throwing tennis balls across the street over the heads of the police who were having a good time as well. The crowd cheered as one as office workers put signs in upper floor windows.
It struck me how here we are a few days away from perhaps the most critical election in our history and yet there is a bond we share in American tradition. I find it hard to believe that the majority of Americans want any major remodeling of the foundations of our culture that have given us comfort and a sense of security. Even the most progressive among us, I am convinced, has a limit to the amount of change they want to experience. They need to know what that limit is before they enter the voting booth.
As far as signage, I live in suburban Philly. Before I became aware of this Web site and the signage conversation, I had made my own observation that McCain/Palin signage appear (unscientific) to be in greater numbers than Bush-Cheyney signs were in 2004. I have also noticed there does not seem to be any eyebrow raising expressions of passion for Obama in the form of bumper stickers either (unscientific).

Rich,
You’re right, but I think this is way different than the Ron Paul situation. Rep. Paul was hearing all these great things online but was only getting votes in the low single digits. Polls say that around 20% of Hillary’s supporters will be voting for McCain. Between this site and pumapac.org, I believe it.
In this very Democratic year, the Democratic candidate should be up by 10-20 points, but Obama is barely outside the polls’ margin of error and sometimes not even that. Those are facts you cannot deny.
Some folks have suggested that McCain will take places like Mass. and Maine. I think those are pipe dreams. I’ve had a couple of premonitions where I see Brit Hume calling NY for McCain and wondering how Obama can make up the deficit. I call that my little crack pipe dream.
However, the Reagan Democrats stunned the world in 1980 and I’m hoping for another stunner delivered by the PUMAs, what’s left of the Reagan Democrats, and the Bradley Effect.

I found this site from a link on http://www.TeamSarah.org. It’s a great site. It’s nice to read intelligent posts free of smears and profanity. I just want to say thank you to the veteran that stood on a street corner with the black lady. It gives me hope that we can live our lives as Americans, free and prosperous not governed by corrupt politicians that want to take our hard earned money and spend it their way. I have a small business that only thrives if other small businesses succeed.
I truly agree that Hillary lost her bid due to the unfair tactics from the Obama campaign. He does not deserve to be POTUS!
I pray to God everyday now that Obama and his radical associates are defeated on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

As I said in a previous post, I live on Martha’s Vineyard. In the last two elections, youcouldn’t go ANYWHERE without seeing Gore or Kerry lawn signs. While I do see buttons and bumperstickers for Nobama, I see very few Obama lawn signs. Very curious since Nobama actually beat Hillary on Martha’s Vineyard (eventhough Hillary won Massachusetts) in the primary.
I’ve seen a few McCain signs, but most people that support him, will only say so privately. One of my co-workers is a Nam vet and wears a Air force Veterans for McCain/Palin button. He told me that he’s been surprised at the number of people that have come up to him and said, “I agree with you.” He even said that some of these people took him by surprise.
Also, in the last election, I was one of only 3 people at my job who supported Bush. This time around, there’s at least six or seven of us.
I’m not saying that McCain is going to win in MA. Not at all. However, if I’m seeing trends like these on LIBERAL MARTHA’S VINEYARD, I can only imagine what’s going on in the rest of America.

I don’t know about the entire state of Maine but I do believe that McCain will win the district representing the North Woods (remember – Maine splits its electoral votes). We were up there a few weeks ago and there were so many McCain/Palin signs. Down here in the Boston suburbs it’s similar to the previous report about Nantucket – not many Obama signs compared to Kerry signs four years ago.

NOT A SHOCKER: Team Hillary was sorely mistaken.
