h/t to TexasDarlin for this stunning bit of research.
SoetorObama supporters have been using Nazi salutes at SoetorObama rallies. The last time these gestures were made in public by mobs of glassy-eyed followers an evil man with a funny mustache and dark heart plunged the world into global chaos, destroying the lives of millions.
The SoetorObama campaign “appropriates” or “borrows” whatever cultural and historic bits and pieces they can use to market their SoetorObama brand. You notice his campaign posters and slogans have a very Maoist, Stalinist, banana-republic socialist/fascist bent to them. Just because they look really cool and his followers respond to them. No attention’s given to the fact that these same posters were used in oppressive regimes where millions were slaughtered. One of the young SoetorObama graphic designers just thought they looked “cool”.
The same is true with this Nazi salute. With no appreciation of history, or cultural sensitivity to those who lost loved ones in the Holocaust, SoetorObama’s followers borrowed this salute from Hitler’s Germany because “it looked cool”.
These SoetorObama staffers are all supposed to be hip, with-it, and Internet masters. Surely they could have done a Google search to determine whether or not the new salute they chose to introduce to enforce loyalty and acclaim for their Dear Leader was linked in any way to the deaths of millions. It’s not that hard to do a Google image search on “salutes” to see what turns up.
We’re not sure what TexasDarlin did to find this Nazi salute, celebrating socialism, but we bet she didn’t time travel to research it on the ground herself in the 1930s. We’re pretty sure she just used her computer and looked at things she saw on the screen with her eyes.
SoetorObama’s thugs are sloppy — they make a lot of mistakes like this. They are no better than the McGovern thugs from 1972, but they’re more careless and in-you-face because they grew up overindulged and “special” thanks to the mentality in public schools of the 80s/90s that every child is special, and thus, as an unintended result, the shared rules of common decency don’t apply to all of these “special” people who operate on levels above expected behavior.
You know the Nazi swaztika was appropriated from Eastern cultures that used it as a symbol of nature. In various lands, it stands for the changing seasons, for life force, for winds of change, etc. So this cultural borrowing is commonplace. In the Nazi example, evil people borrowed a benign and innocuous symbol and turned it into the embodiment of hate and destruction. In 2008, SoetorObama’s campaign borrow a symbol of evil from the Nazi era to use as a badge of loyalty to their own Dear Leader.
You can more readily take something benign and turn it into something evil than you can steal something soaked in evil and make it seem like an innocent gesture.
Sorry, but that’s true.
If the SoetorObama campaign makes mistakes on this level now, we do not believe these people should be allowed to make mistakes like this in the White House. We’ve had 8 years of fumbling bumblers “learning on the job” through myopic hubris.
We do not need 4 more years of this — not from people too “special” to figure out the salute their followers are told to give was once gleefully given as scores of innocents were marched off to death camps.
And no, there is no gentler way to put that. What the SoetorObama camp did was witless and wrong — and the Jewish community, the gay community, disabled Americans, and all other victims of the Nazi era deserve an apology for SoetorObama resurrecting this flash of evil from the past.
Horrifying.

What makes this a “Nazi salute?”
Using one singular photo of Hitler forming a triangle with his hands and trying to tie the gesture to Obama supporters doing the same is not a substantive argument.
The gesture also looks like the very old Jewish symbol for the Cohens.
I guess this woman in this stock photo is a Nazi; supporters of Botafogo FR are too.
